Cramming Hits Consumers When They Least Expect It

This is one of many questionable services that uses ILD Teleservices to suck money out of consumers.

Ilene of Atlanta, GA June 1, 2006

I just started handling our bill and I noticed a charge on our Cypress Communications telephone account - 40.43 as a rebill item. I found out from Cypress that it was Axcess...when I got in touch with Axcess, they told me that we did agree to the charges and played back a recording. THE RECORDING WAS NOT ANYONE WHO WORKS AT MY COMPANY!

The woman I spoke with tried several times to tell me that it was my voice. I told her it was not my voice nor was it the voice of anyone I work with - we only have 6 employees - I know what they sound like. The voice on the message said they were a receptionist and gave their title as something we have never used and would not use...it also had the person confirm their birthday - July! No one in the company has a July birthday! After arguing with her for a while, she agreed to cancel the service and give us a credit.

They supposedly are giving me a credit for two months, not the 6 months that we were charged for...the charge was on our May phone bill too and when I called to confirm, they said it had been cancelled. I'm not very optimistic.

I noted charges totalling 35.31 on our business BellSouth bill.  They were billed by ILD Teleservices on behalf of Axcess Internet Solutions, Inc. for Web hosting monthly service fee. Our business has no need for a website. Through BellSouth's assistance, we were able to finally get to Axcess via ILD and cancelled the service.

Here's the best part:  When I told Axcess they had not been authorized by us, they said they had a verbal authorization from A.T., the Vice President. and played it for me. I called my boss, A.T., and asked why he ordered web hosting if we didn't have a website and he stated he hadn't.

We figured it out that a couple months ago, a guy called stating he was with the phone company, and was at the office to install our free line. A.T. said it will have to be reschedule during office hours. The caller transferred the call to the scheduling department.  The taped message was of the schedulers asking totally different questions to the answers that A.T. gave (authorizing the scheduling of the installation of our free telephone line).

We are just amazed at this scam. It's almost worth the 70 we were cheated out of!

Highfield of Butler, PA May 8, 2006

Highfield Youth Baseball's Sprint telephone bill was erroneously billed 32.62 via ILD Teleservices Inc. for unauthorized Web Hosting Monthly Fee on February 16, 2006 by Axcess Internet Solution. ILD contacted to remove charges. Axcess Internet Solution was contacted to find out how these charges were added to bill - on hold for over 30 minutes, no call pickup - Message left to cancel this service which was not authorized.

32.65 was erroneously added to our non-profit organization's telephone bill. We do not have long-distance service on this telephone bill. Exacted a lot of paperwork and telephone calls to erase this charge.

Robert of Harrisburg, NC May 7, 2006

They have, for the 2nd time, charged my phone bill through Bellsouth for fraudulent web hosting fees. The first time I paid and asked that they quit billing, and they agreed. Four months later it happens again.

Now the 800 number refers you to a 900 number that charges 9 for a call or a minute.

Brenda of Rome, GA March 15, 2006

Unauthorized calls billed since July 2005 on Bellsouth bill @ 30.85 per month. Was told yesterday and today by Axcess that they would fax a refute certificate and I should fax it back to them disputing the charges. Listened to tape of person in our tennis shop that was telephone solicited. He stated that he was a tennis shop desk worker. That title certainly does not sound like an authority to make decisions to order web hosting services that we already had. Another charge for internet services began in November and they said they can give me two months credit.

219.97 in bogus charges

Tracy of Orange City, FL March 9, 2006

Axcess had called our business and asked if we would like a free listing in the business yellow pages. My husband accepted their offer. At no time did they mention any charges. I received a bill on my local telephone bill for 2 months of service at 29.95 per month, plus taxes. When I called to have this cancelled and credited, they played the verification tape which includes my husbands voice. I cannot have the charges credit because of his verification, but he knows that he was not informed of the portion of the tape that describes the charges. He was scammed!

65.01 in fees and taxes
