    Western Rider Push Toys Recalled

    About 9,000 Western Rider push toys are being recalled by Santa's Toy Corp.

    Surface paint on the glove, shirt, and pants of rider toy contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

    The recall involves a push toy of a plastic horse with rider and a 20-inch long pole/handle. The horse and pole/handle together measures about 26 inches. The rider is wearing red pants and a green shirt. The horse comes in various colors.

    The toys were sold at retail dollar and discount stores nationwide February 2005 through February 2008 for between $2.50 and $3. They were made in China.

    Consumers should immediately take the push toy away from children and return it to the store where purchased for a full refund.

    Wal-Mart Recalls 'Hip Charm' Key Chains

    Wal-Mart is recalling about 12,000 "Hip Charm" key chains. The charms on the key chain can contain high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested and can cause adverse health effects.

    The Illinois Attorney General reported that the key chain was found in the home of a 9-month-old child who was discovered to have high blood-levels of lead. The child was observed mouthing the key chain.

    The recalled key chain has several charms including a button, clover, leaf, heart and a sand dollar. The charms hang from a silver-colored chain. The words Hip charm and UPC (#31568 11017) are printed on the products packaging.

    The chains were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from April 2005 through April 2008 for about $6. They were made in China.

    Consumers should not allow children to handle the key chain and should return it to any Wal-Mart store for a full refund.

    Cannondale Recalls Scalpel Mountain Bikes

    Cannondale is recalling its 2008 model year Scalpel mountain bikes.

    The frame can break while in use, causing the rider to lose control and suffer injuries from a fall or collision. The firm has received six reports of frames breaking. No injuries have been reported.

    The 2008 model year Scalpel is a cross-country racing mountain bike, made from carbon fiber and aluminum. They were sold in Black/White, Blue/Black and Black. The recall includes the following models:

      Aqua Lung Recalls Scuba Regulators and Adapters

      Aqua Lung is recalling about 6,000 Titan DIN 1st Stage Scuba Regulators and Titan/Conshelf DIN Scuba Adaptors.

      Over-tightening of the DIN retainer by a technician during installation can result in the retainer breaking under pressure, a rapid escape of air from the scuba cylinder, and the regulator detaching from the scuba cylinder. This poses a drowning hazard to divers.

      The firm has received one report of a DIN retainer breaking under pressure. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled regulators have a brass DIN retainer manufactured prior to June 2006. The recalled Aqua Lung Titan Din 1st Stage regulators have serial numbers lower than 6062501 stamped on the side of the regulators body. Recalled Titan/Conshelf DIN adaptors are marked 300 BAR MAX on the side of the part. DIN adaptors marked 300 BAR MAXI are not included in this recall.

      The regulators, made in France, were sold by authorized Aqua Lung dealers nationwide from January 1997 through September 2008 for about $300 to $450 for the scuba regulators or $70 for DIN adaptors sold separately.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled diving regulators and DIN adaptors and return them to any authorized Aqua Lung dealer for a free replacement DIN retainer.

      Fisher-Price Recalls "Learning Pots & Pans"

      Fisher-Price is recalling about 15,000 sets of "Learning Pots & Pans." Missing screws in the blue toy pan can cause the clear plastic cover to come loose and release small balls, presenting a choking hazard to young children.

      Fisher-Price has received five reports of the plastic covers detaching and releasing the small balls. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Learning Pots and Pans toy sets with stackable pots and pans, a lid and shape-sorting blocks. The toys have light and sound features that operate on three AA batteries. Model number G6685 is located on the bottom of the blue pan.

      The sets, made in China, were sold nationwide from October 2007 to August 2008 for about $20.

      Consumers should immediately take these recalled toys away from children and examine the bottom of the blue pan. The pan should contain six screws. If all six screws are installed, no further action is necessary. If any screws are missing, the consumer should contact Fisher-Price to arrange for the return of the blue pan for a replacement.

      Crate and Barrel 'Remy' Shag Rugs

      Crate and Barrel is recalling about 5,100 Remy Shag Rugs.

      The large rugs fail to meet federal standards for flammability and could ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The small rugs fail to meet federal labeling requirements. Small rugs are not required to meet the federal flammability standard; however, they are required to be permanently labeled with the following statement: FLAMMABLE (FAILS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE STANDARD FF 2-70): SHOULD NOT BE USED NEAR SOURCES OF IGNITION.

      This recall involves the Remy shag rugs with SKU numbers listed below. The rugs are made of cotton jersey. The large rugs measure 5 by 8 and 2.5 by 7. The small rugs measure 5 round, 2 by 3, 4 by 6. Remy and the SKU number can be found on the back of the product label.

      The rugs were sold at Crate and Barrel retail stores nationwide, its online retailer, and through its catalogue from January 2007 through April 2008 for between $50 and $300. They were made in India.

      Squeeze Kids Girl's Corduroy Jackets Sold at TJ Maxx Recalled

      Maran Inc. is recalling Squeeze Kids Girl's Corduroy Jackets sold at TJ Maxx stores. The garments have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.

      The recalled garments are brown corduroy jackets with a pink hood and pink sequins on the front pockets. Squeeze Kids and style number 4JZ642FK are printed on the care label sewn into the back collar area of the garment. The sweatshirts were sold in girls sizes small (7/8), medium (10), large (12/14) and x-large (16).

      The jackets, made in China, were sold exclusively at TJ Maxx retail stores nationwide during January 2007 for about $13.

      Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or return the garments to the place where purchased or to Maran Inc. to receive a refund.

      IKEA Recalls KVIBY Chest of Drawers

      IKEA is rcalling about 5,000 KVIBY chests of drawers. The glass drawer knobs on the chest can break either during assembly or in use, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

      IKEA has received three reports of laceration injuries requiring medical attention. An additional 11 injuries occurred outside of the U.S., where an additional 26,000 of the units were sold.

      The recalled KVIBY Chest is white with 4 drawers and 6 glass knobs. The recall includes chests with article number 201-080-90 and a date stamp of 0817 (first two digits indicate the year; the second two digits indicate the week) or earlier. The article number and date stamp are located on a label attached to the underside of the chest. KVIBY chests with a date stamp of 0818 and later have improved replacement knobs and screws and are not included in the recall.

      The chests were sold at IKEA stores nationwide from August 2007 through July 2008 for about $300. They were made in Denmark.

      Consumers should protect their hands and carefully remove the glass knobs. Contact IKEA to receive free replacement knobs and screws by mail.

      IKEA Recalls KVIBY Chest of Drawers...

      Deda Forza Handlebar Stems Recalled

      September 3, 2008
      Bicycles with Deda Forza handlebar stems are being recalled. The top of the stem can crack and cause the rider to lose control, posing a crash hazard.

      Deda Elementi has received four reports of incidents involving the handlebar stems. No injuries have been reported.

      The recall involves bicycles with Deda Forza black carbon fiber handlebar stems in gloss finish. Deda Forza is printed on the handlebar stem. Deda Forza black carbon fiber handlebar stems in matte finish are not included in this recall.

      Bicycles equipped with the stems were sold at bicycle retailers nationwide from January 2008 through June 2008 on bicycles selling for between $4,300 and $8,700. The handlebar stems were also sold separately for about $400. The stems were manufactured in Taiwan and Italy.

      Consumers should stop using the bicycles equipped with the recalled Deda Forza handlebar stems and return them to the place of purchase to receive a free replacement handlebar stem.

      Children's 'Main Street Draq' Sunglasses Recalled

      Children's 'Main Street Drag' Sunglasses are being recalled by StyleMark. Surface paint in the orange lettering on the temples of the sunglasses contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recalled children's sunglasses have Main Street Drag characters on the bottom of one lens. The sunglass frames have dark metallic blue or dark metallic red fronts and gray checkered sides.

      'Main Street Drag' is printed in orange at the temples. Style number DI25K7116 is printed on the left temple. No other styles are included in this recall.

      The sunglasses were sold at Payless, Walgreen's, Academy Sports, and CVS stores nationwide from October 2007 through March 2008 for between $6 and $9. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled sunglasses away from children and contact StyleMark for instructions on returning the sunglasses for a free replacement pair.

      Newport Rubbed Black Cribs, Furniture Recalled

      Recall follows report of lead poisoning

      Munire Furniture is recalling about 9,000 cribs and matching pieces of furniture in its Newport Rubbed Black series. The red paint which is underneath the black finish paint on some of the cribs and matching furniture exceeds federal lead limits. If ingested by young children lead can cause adverse health effects.

      Munire has received one report of a child ingesting the paint. The child was diagnosed with lead poisoning.

      The recalled cribs and furniture are made of wood and have a rubbed black finish. Only the Newport Rubbed Black cribs and matching furniture manufactured in Indonesia between April 2006 and November 2008 are included in this recall. The model number, date, and country of manufacture are printed on the label attached to the side panel of the crib and the date of manufacture is on the back panel of the furniture.       Consumers should immediately stop using the products and contact Munire Furniture to receive a replacement coupon which will entitle consumers to exchange the products for another product free of charge.

      GE Recalls Gas Dryers Due to Shock Hazard

      GE is recalling about 2,100 GE gas clothes dryers. A short circuit in the dryer's wiring poses a shock hazard to consumers with ungrounded dryers.

      The recalled gas dryers are 42 inches tall (back with backsplash) and 27 inches wide, and were sold in white. GE gas dryers model number DWXR463GGWW with serial numbers starting with AM, TL, SL, VL, and ZL are included in this recall. To find the model and serial numbers, open the dryer door and look in the upper right corner, in the area that was covered by the door.

      The dryers, made in Canada, were sold by retail stores and authorized builder distributors nationwide from September 2006 through October 2007 for about $440.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled dryers immediately, unplug the dryer, and contact GE for further instructions and to schedule a free, in-home inspection and repair. GE is directly contacting consumers who purchased the recalled dryers.

      GE Recalls Gas Dryers Due to Shock Hazard...

      Family Dollar Magnetic Dart Boards

      About 870,000 Fun N Games Magnetic Dart Boards are being recalled.

      Small magnets at the ends of the darts can detach. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.

      This recall involves magnetic dartboards with a black, green, blue, and white checkered design, and a red bulls eye. The magnetic dartboards measure about 5 inches wide and were sold with two 2 -inch long magnetic darts. The darts magnetically attract to the dart board.

      The games were sold at Family Dollar stores nationwide from September 2002 through March 2008 for about $1. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled magnetic boards away from children and return them by first class mail to: Henry Gordy International Inc., 809A Market Street, Hermann, MO 65041 for a full refund including tax and shipping costs.

      OKK Trading is recalling about 2,100 'Mini-Televisor' toys because they violate the federal lead paint standard.

      This recall involves a plastic TV toy. This plastic TV toy has a microphone and is powered by 2 AA size batteries. There is a 'TV Painting Board' sticker label on the front panel and carrying handle of the toy.

      The toys were sold at OKK Trading's Web site at www.okktoys.com from July 2008 through September 2008 for about $1. They were made in Hong Kong.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact OKK Trading for a refund or an exchange.

      Hearth & Home Technologies is recalling about 22,000 IntelliSwitch Fireplace Wall Controls.

      Failure in the wall control system can cause the fireplace to turn on by itself creating a risk of property damage. If the control fails and the consumer has left combustible objects directly in front of an unattended fireplace, there may also be a risk of fire.

      Hearth & Home has received 13 reports of a fireplace turning itself on and continuing to operate, including two reports of minor property damage caused by high temperature. No fires or injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves WSK-300 IntelliSwitch Fireplace Wall Controls sold with Heat & Glo gas direct vent fireplaces with the following model and serial numbers:

Hearth & Home Technologies will send consumers a free replacement wall control panel for installation by the consumer or trained technician.       Adio Footwear is recalling about 300 'Champ Custom' hooded fleece sweatshirts. The garments have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.

      The boy's 'Champ Custom' hooded zip fleece sweatshirt (style # 40305.HZB) is white with blue pin-stripes on the front and red panels on the sides. ADIO is spelled out across the front. The sweatshirt was sold in boys' sizes: small, medium, large and x-large.

      The shirts were sold at Tilly's and Bob's stores nationwide from October 2007 through December 2007 for about $40. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, and return the item to the place of purchase or to Adio Footwear for a full refund.

      Meijer Recalls Hat-Mitten Sets

      Meijer Inc. is recalling girls' hat and mitten sets made by Aquarius Ltd. The magnets in the hat can detach and fall out, posing a choking and aspiration hazard to young children.

      Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.

      Meijer has received one report of the magnet separating from the hat. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled hats and mittens have two magnets sewn into each side of the hat and are cotton with pink, lavender, orange and aqua green stripes and various prints. Some of the hat and mittens have dark pink hearts with light pink stripes. 'Aquarius LTD' is printed on the tag of the hat and mitten sets.

      The sets, made in China, were sold at Meijer stores in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky from August 2008 to October 2008 for about $12.

      Consumers should immediately take these hat and mitten sets away from children and return to Meijer store for a refund.

      Michaels Stores Recalls Seasonal Writing Pens

      Michaels Stores is recalling about 300,000 season pens. Included are Flower Writers; Christmas Writers; Easter Writers; and Spooky Writers Seasonal Writing Pens.

      The seasonal writing pens' surface coating contains high levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recalled pens were sold individually as one of four-series pens including Flower Writer; Christmas Writer; Easter Writer and Spooky Writer. Each pen has themed decorations including flowers, Christmas, Easter and Halloween ornamentation.

      They were sold at Michaels retail stores nationwide from August 2007 through March 2008 for about $1. The pens were made in China.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled pens immediately and return them to any Michaels store to receive a refund.

      "Gas Match," "Ready, Aim, Fire" Lighters Recalled

      YMCA Trading is recalling about 24,000 "Gas Match" and "Ready, Aim, Fire" lighters. The multi-purpose lighters fail to meet federal safety standards because they might not contain a child-resistant mechanism, posing a potential fire and burn hazard to young children.

      The recalled "Gas Match" lighters have either a multi-colored red/white, blue/white or green/white plastic body, and a silver-colored metal nozzle. Each lighter measures 10 inches long. The recalled "Ready, Aim, Fire" lighters have either a solid black, blue, red or green plastic body, and a silver-colored metal nozzle. Each lighter measures 9-inches long.

      The lighters, made in China, were sold at retail stores in New York State from August 2008 through October 2008 for about $1.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lighters and contact YMCA Trading to arrange for return of the lighter for a refund.

      Toys R Us Recalls Merry-Go-Rounds

      Toys R Us is recalling about 15,000 Playsafe Spinning Quad merry-go-rounds. The inner bearing on the merry-go-round can fail, causing the seat assembly to suddenly drop to the ground. This poses a fall hazard to children riding the merry-go-round.

      Pacific Cycle has received one report of an injury involving the merry-go- round, which resulted in a fall and abrasions to a child.

      The Playsafe Spinning Quad Merry-Go-Round has four yellow plastic seats and black and silver metal bars. They were sold by Toys R Us nationwide between January 2008 through March 2008 for between $80 and $100. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the merry-go-round away from children and return it to Toys R Us for a full refund, or contact Pacific Cycle to receive a free retrofit kit.
