    Coleman Gas Grills and Patio Heaters Recalled

    The Coleman Co. is recalling about 124,000 gas grills and 6,200 heaters. The regulators on these products can leak propane when the propane cylinder is turned on and the product is not in use. This can pose a fire or explosion hazard.

    Coleman has received 98 reports of these regulators leaking propane. Coleman has received no reports of injuries or property damage.

    The recall includes Coleman Gas Grills with model numbers 5100, 5300, 5400, 5600, 6000 and 7700, and Coleman Patio Heater with model number 5040. The model name and number can be found directly on the front of the grills and on the inside cover of the heaters.

    The units were sold at Lowes, Expo Design Centers and various pool and patio retailers nationwide. The grills were sold from January 2004 through July 2005 for between $270 and $1,260. The patio heaters were sold from June 2004 through July 2005 for between $500 and $600.

    Consumers should stop using the grills and heaters immediately and contact Coleman for a free replacement regulator assembly. Once the regulator is replaced, the grill or heater may be used.

    Coleman Gas Grills and Patio Heaters Recalled...

    Deb Shops Candleholder

    Deb Shops of Philadelphia is recalling about 48,000 decorative candleholders. The hook or handle of the candleholder can overheat and break, causing the lit candle to fall out and pose a fire hazard.

    Deb Shops has received two reports of the metal candleholder burning through, causing the candle to fall and burn a small rug area. No injuries have been reported.

    This recall involves moon, dolphin and fish themed candleholders. The decorative candleholders are about 9-inches tall with a metal bucket that sits suspended from a hook. A votive candle sits inside the bucket.

    The candleholders were sold at Deb Shops retail stores nationwide from November 2001 through November 2004 for about $13.

    Consumers should stop using the candleholder immediately and return it to the nearest Deb Shops retail store for a full refund.

    Radio Flyer Toddler Walker Wagon

    Radio Flyer Inc. is recalling about 38,000 toddler walker wagons. The tips of the clickers, which make a clicking sound when the Walker Wagon wheels move, can break off. The broken clickers pose a choking or aspiration hazard to young children.

    Radio Flyer has received 11 reports of the tips breaking off the clickers on these Walker Wagons. No injuries have been reported.

    The recalled wooden Walker Wagon has a push handle and removable wooden stake sides. It is 22-inches long, 12-inches wide and 16 -inches high at the top of the handle. The Walker Wagon body is red and has the name Radio Flyer in white lettering on each side. The recalled Walker Wagons have black plastic clickers that make a clicking sound when the plastic wheels turn.

    The clickers are located between the rear wheels and the wagon. The Walker Wagon is intended for children 1 to 4 years old. The Walker Wagons with clear plastic clickers are not included in this recall.

    The wagons were sold at toy, department and discount stores, in catalogs, and by Web retailers from August 2003 through May 2005 for about $80.

    Consumers should immediately take these recalled Walker Wagons away from young children and contact Radio Flyer for free replacement clickers.

      CVS Surf Club Arm Bands

      Atico International USA, Inc. is recalling about 480,000 pairs of Surf Club Arm Bands sold at CVS stores. The seams of the inflatable arm bands can tear, causing them to deflate. This poses a drowning hazard to young children.

      Atico International has received two reports of the seams of inflatable arm bands tearing during use. No injuries have been reported. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries.

      The recalled plastic inflatable arm band pool floats are bright orange on the outside and white on the inside with an inflation valve on each side. They are imprinted with a Surf Club logo, CVS/pharmacy, and Caution: This is not a lifesaving device. Do not leave child unattended while in use. When inflated, the arm bands measure about 8-inches long by 6-inches wide.

      The arm bands were sold at CVS stores nationwide from April 2003 through August 2005 for about $1.

      Parents should immediately stop their children from using the recalled arm band pool floats and return them to CVS for a full refund.

      Shakespeare Children's Fishing Kits

      Shakespeare Fishing Tackle is recalling about 438,000 children's fishing kits. The paint on the rods of these fishing poles contains lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled Shakespeare brand fishing kits feature the following characters: TAZ (Tazmanian Devil), Tweety, Mucha Lucha and Spider-Man. Other fishing kits feature Fishing Heroes, sold with a silver-colored badge; Kids Kits, sold with tackle boxes; and Shark and Dolphin Kits, which have reels in the shape of a shark or dolphin.

      The fishing kits have brightly colored red and yellow fishing rods, and Shakespeare is written on the reels. Fishing kits with purple, blue and pink rods are not included in this recall. Certain translucent red and yellow and metallic-colored red rods also are not included in this recall.

      The gear was sold at discount department, sporting good and toy stores nationwide from August 2001 through June 2005 for between $9 and $13.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled fishing poles and contact Shakespeare Fishing Tackle for information on receiving a free replacement fishing kit.

      Target Merona Women's Boots

      Target is recalling about 135,000 Merona Womens Sidezip ENA Style Boots. The heel on the boot can detach, causing the consumer to fall.

      Target has received 19 complaints of the heels breaking off, including one report of a sprained ankle.

      The Merona Womens sidezip boot comes in black or brown with a three-inch heel in sizes 5 1/2 through 11. The style numbers included in this recall are 096-10-1180 through 1190 for the black boots and 096- 10-1200 through 1210 for the brown boots. These numbers appear on the interior zipper liner along with the words, All Man Made Materials, Made in China, Merona and ENA.

      The boots were sold at Target stores nationwide and through Targets Web site from July 2004 through January 2005 for about $25.

      Consumers should stop wearing the boots immediately and return them to the nearest Target store for a full refund.

      Bunn-O-Matic Recalls Home Coffeemakers

      June 10, 2005
      Bunn-O-Matic is recalling about 1.75 million of its home coffeemakers. The coffeemakers plastic pour-in bowl and lid can melt or ignite due to an electrical failure, posing a burn and fire hazard to consumers.

      Bunn-O-Matic has received 17 reports of the bowl or lid melting, though no injuries have been reported.

      The recall involves Bunn home coffeemakers with model numbers GR-10B, GR-10W, B-10B, B-10W, and BT-10B (including any of those same model numbers ending in the additional letter D) with six-digit date codes ending in 01, 02, or 03. Also involved in the recall are the same models with dates codes ending in 04 and middle digits between 01 and 21. (If the date code has a seventh digit, consumers should ignore the last digit and use the first six digits.)

      The model number and date code are stamped on a small white or silver sticker on the bottom of the coffeemaker. The 10-cup Bunn coffeemakers have either a black or white plastic base and top, and measure 14 -inches high by 7-inches wide by 13 -inches deep. The word BUNN is printed on the front of the machine in chrome.

      The units were sold at department and hardware stores nationwide between February 2001 and August 2004 for about $100.

      Consumers should unplug the coffeemaker and allow it to cool (for at least three hours) before checking to see if they have one of the recalled units. Consumers can contact the firm to obtain a free repair or purchase a new unit at a discount.

      Bunn-O-Matic Recalls Home Coffeemakers...

      New Star Toy Cars

      New Star Toys & Gifts Inc. is recalling about 1,200 "funny game" toy cars. Small parts can break off during use, posing a choking hazard to young children.

      The recall includes two styles of toy cars. The Funny Puzzle Car or Funny Game Car is about 9-inches long. The car has an orange body, green interior and blue wheels. A frog button is on one side and lettered buttons are on the other. Stickers on the car read FUNNY GAME CAR, Funny Intelligence Game and NO. 1340. They are sold with four shape blocks that can be inserted in the windows of the car.

      The Funny Cartoon Car or Beautiful Music Car is a six-wheel truck about 16-inches long. The cab of the truck is yellow and the trailer is green. It has 15 spinning blocks on one side showing Spanish words and a plastic abacus on the other side and a play clock on the back. Stickers on the product read Beautiful Music Car, LOVELY CARTOON CAR and NO.1345. Both products have a yellow pull-string in the front.

      The cars were sold at toy, department and discount stores nationwide from September 2004 through December 2004 for between $4 and $6.

      Consumers should take these toys away from young children, and return the recalled toys to the store where purchased for a refund.

      Ritchey Design Bicycle Wheels

      August 11, 2005
      Ritchey Design is recalling about 2,000 rear bicycle wheels. Affected are the Protocol, Carbon, DS, DS Aero and Girder models (all rear wheels only).

      The hub in the bicycles rear wheel can fail to engage properly, causing no resistance when pedaling. The bicycle rider can lose balance, fall and suffer injuries.

      Ritchey Design has received one report of a bicycle rider who suffered minor bruises and abrasions after experiencing no pedal resistance and falling from the bike.

      The wheels were sold by Ritchey as wheel sets and as rear wheel only and as original equipment on 2004 model year Fuji and Motobecane USA bicycles and the 2005 model year Prestige road bike from Raleigh. The recalled wheels have high flange hubs measuring 60-milimeters in diameter and the hub body is straight between the flanges.

      The wheels were sold at bicycle specialty stores nationwide from January 2003 through July 2005. These wheels were sold separately for between $350 and $700. They were sold also as original equipment on 2004 model year Fuji and Motobecane USA bicycles and the 2005 model year Prestige road bike form Raleigh, for between $2,100 and $4,000.

      Gymboree Recalls Baby Sandals

      August 12, 2005
      Gymboree Corp. is recalling about 5,600 "Caroline Flower" baby sandals. A plastic flower attached to the sandals can pull or snap off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

      Gymboree has received four reports of the plastic flower coming off of the sandals. One child reportedly pulled the flower off of the sandal, placed it in her mouth and started to choke, and another child was reported to have bitten a flower off of the sandal.

      This recall includes the Caroline Flower Baby Sandal with SKU number 140002069 sold in sizes 1 to 8. The SKU number is printed on the price tag above the bar code. The sandal has a white upper sole and a cork covered outer sole. A white decorative plastic flower is attached to the top of the front strap. The front and back strap have adjustable touch fasteners. The name Gymboree is printed in aqua on the sole of the sandal.

      The sandals were sold by Gymboree stores and Web site nationwide from May 2005 through July 2005 for between $22 and $28.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the sandals and return them to a Gymboree store for a refund. Consumers also can return the sandals to Gymboree via mail. Contact Gymboree for return instructions.

      Gymboree Recalls Baby Sandals...

      Martha Stewart Candles

      Kmart is recalling Martha Stewart Everyday brand birch candle sets. The birch surrounding the candles may ignite, posing a fire hazard.

      Kmart has received one report of a man who was burned on the hand while picking up one of the candles.

      The recalled candle sets contain three birch bark candles and pine cones that sit on a round tray. The candles measure 3, 4, and 6-inches in height and have a white birch exterior. Martha Stewart Everyday brand name is printed on the box.

      The candle sets were sold at Kmart stores nationwide from September 2004 through January 2005 for about $13.

      Consumers should return these candle sets to the Kmart store where purchased to receive a refund.

      Martha Stewart Candles...

      Porter-Cable is recalling about 196,000 7-inch MAG-Saw Circular Saws. The lower guard on these saws could stick in the open position, posing a risk of severe lacerations to consumers.

      The recall involves Porter-Cable 7-inch MAG-Saw Circular Saws with model numbers 324MAG (serial numbers 10001through 108962), 325MAG (serial numbers 10001through 014712), 423MAG (serial numbers 10001through 100371), and 424MAG (serial numbers 10001through 012690). The model and serial numbers are located on a label on the top of the saws.

      Units marked with a T at the location shown below have been inspected and are not affected by this recall. Porter-Cable is written on the side of these saws.

      The saws were sold at major home center and hardware stores nationwide from March 2004 through November 2005 for between $130 and $160, depending on the model.

      Consumers should stop using the circular saws immediately and contact Porter-Cable for the location of the nearest service center to receive a free inspection and repair, if necessary.

      Graco Aspen Cribs Recalled for Suffocation Risk

      December 21, 2005
      About 104,000 Graco Aspen 3 in 1 cribs are being recalled. The screws on the wooden mattress support can come loose allowing a portion of the mattress to fall, posing a suffocation hazard to young children.

      Simplicity Inc., the manufacturer, has received 14 reports of the mattress support coming loose, including eight reports of entrapment. Five injuries have been reported including scratches and bruises to the face and head, a strained neck and a report of a child turning blue.

      The recalled cribs are made of wood and have a wooden mattress support. Only cribs with wooden mattress supports and with model number 8740KCW SC and serial number 2803 SC to 1605 are included in this recall. The model and serial number are printed on the envelope attached to the mattress support.

      The cribs were sold through department stores, and childrens product stores from August 2003 through May 2005 for about $130.

      Consumers should call Simplicity Inc. to receive a retrofit kit.

      Dollar General is recalling about 455,000 necklace and earring sets. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The flower necklace and earring set features a floral design in four color variations: yellow, orange, pink and purple. The purse necklace and earring set features a dangling purse charm in black, red, blue, orange, pink or purple. The corded swirl necklace and earring set features a twisted metal swirl pattern hanging from a black, blue or purple cord. The faux amber necklace and earring set features a large faux amber gem cut in a heart or cross shape. The 5-strand bead necklace and earring set were sold in four color variations: orange, purple, blue and multi-color.

      The items were sold at Dollar General Stores nationwide from May 2005 through August 2005 for between $1 and $3.

      Consumers should take the recalled jewelry away from children immediately and return to Dollar General stores for a refund.

      Advantage Publishers Children's Books Recalled

      December 15, 2005
      Advantage Publishers Group is recalling about 41,000 children's books. If the clear plastic container is removed from the book's back cover or breaks, young children can access the beads in it. This poses a choking hazard to young children.

      Advantage Publishers Group has received one report of a child accessing beads in the books' clear plastic containers. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled children's activity books are multi-colored with holes in the pages to touch a variety of fabrics and to push a squeaker toy, flaps to lift, and a clear plastic container with beads. The "Amazing Baby Look and Play" activity book has a yellow star on the cover. The "Amazing Baby Touch and Play" book has a brown bear on the cover. The activity books measure about 11-inches by 11-inches, and are for children ages 12 months to 24 months. The recalled "Rattle, Rattle" board book has a magenta car on the cover. The board book measures about 5 1/2inches by 5 -inches, and is intended for children ages 6 months to 18 months.

      The books were sold at national book chains, discount department stores, wholesalers and distributors, and membership warehouse clubs nationwide from May 2003 through November 2005 for about $16 for the activity books and about $6 for the board book.

      Consumers should immediately take these recalled activity and board books away from young children and contact the company for a replacement book.

      Advantage Publishers Children's Books Recalled...

      Dollar General Dive Sticks

      February 16, 2005
      Dollar General is recalling about 180,000 dive stick packages. Children can fall or land on these upright dive sticks in shallow water and suffer impalement injuries. Federal safety officials banned pre-weighted dive sticks in 2001.

      The dive sticks are hard plastic in the shape of worms, fish, and seahorses.

      The worm dive sticks are sticks with ridges that are green with an orange weighted ball or pink with a yellow weighted ball on the bottom. The fish dive sticks are pink and yellow or green and orange. The seahorse dive sticks are yellow with a blue tail or pink with a yellow tail. All of the dive sticks are about 7 inches long.

      Made in China is written on the fish and seahorses. Sun and Shade is written on each package. There are two worms per package and three fish or seahorses per package.

      The dive sticks were sold at Dollar General stores nationwide from April 2004 through September 2004 for about $1.

      Consumers should take these dive sticks away from children immediately and return them to Dollar General stores for a refund, or discard them.

      Capresso Water Kettles Recalled

      About 15,000 Capresso water kettles are being recalled. The handle can detach from the glass carafe, spilling hot water and causing severe burn injuries.

      Capresso has received five reports of the handle detaching from the carafe, including one incident that resulted in a minor burn from contact with boiling water.

      The recalled model H20 Classic, Cordless Water Kettle has two parts - a black heating base and a glass kettle with a polished chrome or a silver handle. Printed in script on the base of the kettle is Capresso and engraved on the bottom of the kettle is CAPRESSO INC., Kettle Models 257.01, 258.03, 258.04 for use with Kettle Base Model 256/258.

      The kettles were sold by specialty kitchen stores nationwide, mail order gourmet catalogs, Capresso.com and other Web site retailers such as Amazon.com between August 2004 and May 2005

      for about $70.

      Consumers should stop using the water kettle immediately and contact Capresso for a free replacement kettle.

      Capresso Water Kettles Recalled...

      Cressi-Sub SCUBA Buoyancy Compensators

      February 23, 2005
      Cressi-sub USA is recalling about 1,000 SCUBA buoyancy compensators. A slow leak from the shoulder exhaust caused by expansion of an internal cable housing could result in slow deflation. This could impact the divers ability to control buoyancy.

      Buoyancy Compensator devices provide buoyancy control for scuba divers by allowing them to inflate or deflate the devices. The recalled buoyancy compensators have model numbers J107, J113, J115, and J119. The numbers appear on the top right-hand corner of the unit (on the shoulder). CRESSI is written on the buoyancy control devices.

      The units were sold at authorized dive shops nationwide and at various Web sites from January 2003 through September 2004 for between $400 and $700.

      Customers can return the product to a Cressi-sub-authorized dive shop to have the product retro-fitted with a free replacement internal cable housing. Buoyancy Compensator devices with a black retaining ring around the yellow inflate button on the inflation mechanism, and an adjoining gray cover assembly (bypass case), which screws onto the inflator, are subject to this recall and must be retro-fitted. Devices which have yellow retaining rings and black cover assemblies have been retro-fitted.

      Cressi-Sub SCUBA Buoyancy Compensators...

      KitchenAid ProLine Toasters

      March 24, 2005
      Whirlpool is recalling about 40,000 KitchenAid Proline toasters. An interruption of power to the toaster can cause the heating elements to unexpectedly self-start and could ignite any flammable items left on top of the unit, posing a fire hazard.

      Whirlpool has received three reports of incidents involving heating elements unexpectedly self-starting, including one case outside the U.S. in which items on top of a toaster caught on fire. There are no reports of personal injury or property damage.

      The recalled KitchenAid ProLine countertop toasters are painted die-cast metal or stainless steel and come in 2-slice or 4-slice models. The model and serial numbers, which are on labels affixed to the bottom of the toasters, include:

      The toasters were sold through various catalogs and specialty retailers nationwide from August 2003 through January 2005 for between $250 and $300.

      Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the toaster and contact KitchenAid to arrange for a free replacement. Consumers should not return the toaster to the retailer where it was purchased, as retailers are not prepared to take them back.

      Pottery Barn Kids Chamois Blankets

      Pottery Barn Kids is recalling about 92,000 chamois blankets. The decorative stitching on the blankets edge can come loose, allowing a child to become entangled in the yarn. This poses a strangulation hazard to young children.

      Pottery Barn Kids has received four reports of incidents involving the decorative stitching coming loose. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves childrens chamois blankets made of 100% polyester. The blankets were sold in yellow, pink, blue and green, and the reverse side of all the blankets are white. Decorative yarn in a coordinating color is stitched around the blankets edge. The blanket measures 30-inches wide by 40-inches long and are labeled for stroller use. A label on the blanket reads pottery barn kids and Made in Korea.

      The blankets were sold at Pottery Barn Kids stores nationwide, through the Pottery Barn catalog, and PotteryBarnKids.com from December 2002 through December 2004 for about $30.

      Consumers can remove the decorative stitching or contact Pottery Barn Kids for information on how to receive a replacement or refund.
