    Pottery Barn Kids Recalls Roman Shades

    Pottery Barn Kids is recalling about 85,000 sets of Roman shades. Strangulations can occur when a child places his neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around her neck.

    There have been six reports of children becoming entangled in the exposed inner cord on the back of the shade between March 2006 and July 2008. Four children were found with cords entangled around their necks. Scissors were used to release two of these children. Two children were found with red marks around their necks after having freed themselves. No permanent injuries were sustained.

    This recall involves all sizes and colors of Pottery Barn Kids roman shades with exposed inner cords on the back. Two sewn-in labels are located at the bottom edge of the shade. The smaller label identifies the manufacturer as pottery barn kids while the second larger orange, black and white label warns that Cords and bead chains can loop around childs neck and STRANGLE. Roman shades with a fabric covering over the cords are not being recalled.

    The shades were sold through Pottery Barn Kids catalog nationwide and through the firms Web site at www.potterybarnkids.com from January 2003 through May 2007 for between $30 and $60.

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled shades and contact Pottery Barn Kids to receive a merchandise card for the purchase value.

    Safety regulators remind consumers to examine all Roman Blinds and shades in their homes. If looped pull cords are present or exposed inner cords are found on the back of blinds or shades and children are in the home or occasionally visit your home, please consider replacing them with blinds or shades that do not have exposed pull cords or inner cords.

    Coolibar Recalls Children's Sun Block Jackets, Hoodies

    Coolibar is recalling about 3,000 Sun Block jackets and hoodies. The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children.

    The recalled jackets and hoodies have a drawstring through the hood. They were sold in children's sizes 2 through 12. The jackets were sold in the following colors: tan, stone, bayou blue, crisp blue, white, berry, and citrus. The hoodies were sold in teal, kiwi, mandarin, aloe green, paprika, hibiscus, smokey blue, white, sherbet, cobalt, and stone.

    They were sold at Coolibar's catalog and www.coolibar.com from March 2005 through April 2008 (hoodies) and from February 2008 through April 2008 (jackets) for between $25 and $40. They were made in China.

    Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring from the jacket or hoodie to eliminate the hazard, or contact the firm for instructions on returning the garment to the firm for a full refund.

    Black & Decker Spacemaker Coffeemakers

    More than half a million Black & Decker Spacemaker coffeemakers are being recalled. The brew basket can shift out of alignment allowing hot water to overflow. This poses a scalding and burn hazard to consumers.

    The firm has received 235 reports of hot water overflowing and contacting consumers, including 10 reports of second-degree burns.

    The recalled product is the Black & Decker-branded Spacemaker coffeemaker. The product has an under-cabinet mount, programmable digital clock/timer, removable water reservoir, and either a 12-cup glass carafe or an 8-cup thermal carafe. Only model numbers ODC440, ODC440B, ODC450 and ODC460 are included in the recall. The model number can be located on the back of the coffeemaker.

    The coffeemakers, made in China, were sold major retailers nationwide, including K-Mart, Kohls, Target, Wal-Mart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Amazon.com, from March 2006 through March 2009 for between $60 and $70.

    Consumers should stop using the recalled coffeemaker immediately and contact Applica Consumer Products Inc. for a free replacement brew basket.

      'Sun Smarties' Children's Board Skirts Recalled

      Chelsea & Scott Ltd. is recalling Sun Smarties Children's Board Skirts. The paint on the grommets of the skirts contains an excess level of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The Sun Smarties board skirts are peach microfiber with an embroidered flower accent and back pocket. Item number 13926 HIBI is printed on the care label inside the back of the waistband. The skirts were sold in girls sizes 12 months to 4T. The skirts have six grommets, four on the front of the waistband and two on the back pocket.

      The skirts were sold on www.onestepahead.com from May 1, 2008 through May 9, 2008 for about $15. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take these skirts away from young children and return them to Chelsea & Scott Ltd to receive a replacement skirt or refund. Consumers will be sent a postage paid envelope from Chelsea & Scott Ltd.

      Narita, Special Hair Dryers Recalled

      About 3,000 Special and Narita brand hair dryers are being recalled. The hair dryers are not equipped with an immersion protection device to prevent electrocution if the hair dryer falls into water. Immersion protection devices, which prevent electrocution, are required by industry standards for all electric hand-held hair dryers.

      This recall involves Special (model EX-1800) and Narita (model TE-263) hair dryers. "Special" or "Narita" and the model number are printed on the dryer. The "Special" hair dryers are brown and the "Narita" hair dryers are white and black and fold up.

      The dryers, made in Taiwan, were sold at various retail stores in California from June 2003 through October 2008 for about $15.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the hair dryers and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.

      Wal-Mart is realling "Faded Glory" lip gloss and jewelry.

      The lobster claw clasp on the bracelet contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled three-piece sets contain a rectangle-shaped lip gloss container, a heart-shaped locket necklace, and a charm bracelet. The following models are included in the recall:

      Subaru Recalls 2005-2006 Baja

      Subaru is recalling about 15,000 Baja vehicles from the 2005-2006 model year. Cracks may develop in the fuel hose connection to the fuel pump, which could cause a fire.

      Dealers will replace the fuel pump bracket with a new and stronger part. The recall is expected to begin in September.

      Shivvers Lawn Mower Jacks Recalled

      About 450 Shivvers Country Clipper lawn mower lift tools and kits are being recalled. The jack lifts can have threads stripping or the nuts breaking, resulting in the shaft slipping and the mower falling from its stand-up position. This could cause serious personal injury to the consumer or property damage.

      Shivvers has received five reports of jack lift failures and 37 warranty claims for replacement parts.

      The recalled jacks are used for lifting the lawn mower during service or maintenance. Two versions of this jack model have been manufactured. Version number one was made with a nylon nut and version number two was made with a sintered bronze nut. These recalled jacks were sold separately and on Charger, JAZee and Boss riding lawn mowers.

      They were sold by Country Clippers dealers nationwide from May 2007 through June 2008 for about $150 for the jack and about $225 for the jack kits.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the jacks and contact their local service dealer to have their lawn mowers repaired at no charge.

      Power System Plus Spotlights Recalled

      The car chargers used with Power System Plus halogen spotlights are being recalled.

      The car charger is incompatible with the spotlights battery, which can cause it to overcharge inside of a vehicle and pose a fire or burn hazard to consumers.

      The distributor has received two reports of incidents of spotlights overheating while being charged with the car charger. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled 12V DC car charger was sold with the Power Systems Plus/UST 3 Million Candlepower Spotlight with model number HSLR30S. The spotlight is black and blue and has a sticker on each side that reads 3 Million Candle Power. HSLR30S is printed on the instruction manual and on the packaging.

      The lights, made in China, were sold at Sears and K-Mart retail stores nationwide from October 2007 to June 2008 for about $20.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled car charger and contact IMS for information on how to receive a free replacement car charger. Consumers can continue to use the spotlights without the car charger.

      Oki Data is recalling about 400 of its C9600 series digital color printers. They have an internal electrical problem that could result in electrical shock to consumers.

      The digital color printers are beige colored and measure 27 inches wide, 25 inches deep and 20 inches high. Oki Printing Solutions and model C9600 are printed on the front of the unit. The following serial numbers are included in the recall. The serial number is located on the back left side of the printer.

      'What's Inside' Soft Toy Boxes Recalled

      Lakeshore Learning is recalling about 3,600 "What's Inside?" soft toy boxes. The head of the stuffed butterfly toy can detach from the body, posing a choking hazard to children.

      Lakeshore has received three reports of the head of the butterfly detaching from the body. No injuries were reported.

      The recalled product is a soft, multi-colored box with a different color on each side. Whats Inside? is embroidered on the front of the box and symbols of a lion, flower and purple butterfly are stitched on another side. Each feely box contains ten small stuffed pieces. The piece affected by this recall is the pink and purple butterfly.

      The boxes, made in China, were sold by Lakeshore Learning Materials stores nationwide and Toys To Grow On catalogs from September 2008 through February 2009 for about $40.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled product away from children and contact Lakeshore to receive a free replacement butterfly.

      'What's Inside' Soft Toy Boxes Recalled...

      Line Ski Boards

      About 1,250 ski boards are being recalled by Line Skis. The affected models are the 2006 Line X-Fly and Line Pro Ski Boards.

      Screws installed improperly can cause the bindings to come loose or pull off the ski board during use, causing the skier to lose control or fall and suffer injuries.

      The firm has received one report of the screws that hold the binding to the ski board pulling out during use. No injuries have been reported.

      The 2006 Line X-Fly and Line Pro model ski boards were sold in 90 and 99 centimeter lengths. The Pro model is a twin-tip ski which is turned up at both ends. Pro 90 or Pro 98 is printed on the tail. The X-Fly is a unidirectional ski which is turned up on one end. Fly 90 or Fly 99 is printed on the tail.

      The boards were sold at ski, snowboard and sporting goods stores from September 2006 through January 2007 for about $180.

      They were manufactured in Taiwan.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ski boards and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. If consumers are unable to return the ski boards to the place of purchase, contact the firm for instructions.

      Sleeping Beauty Crown and Cinderella Star earring sets sold at Wal-Mart are being recalled. The metal earring sets contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      This recall involves the Sleeping Beauty Crown and the Cinderella Star Earring sets. The Sleeping Beauty Crown set contains two pairs of earrings; one pair is shaped as pink crowns and the other pair is shaped as the Sleeping Beauty character.

      The Cinderella Star Earring set contains two pairs of earrings; one pair is shaped as blue stars and the other one is shaped as the Cinderella character. The packaging is shaped as a pink heart and 'The Wonderful World of Disney' is printed in the front.

      The earrings were sold at Wal-Mart stores in Florida from February 2007 to June 2007 for about $5. The jewelry was made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take this recalled jewelry away from children and return it to Uncas Manufacturing Co. for a full refund.

      Black & Decker is recalling about 9,800 thermal coffeemakers because they can overheat and melt.

      This recall involves Black & Decker 8-cup programmable thermal coffeemakers. Model number TCM1000IKT is printed on the rating plate on the bottom of the coffeemaker.

      The coffeemakers were sold at Walmart and small retail stores nationwide from April 2008 through July 2009 for between $50 and $65. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the coffeemakers and contact Applica to receive a free replacement household product.

      Casio Recalls Electronic Keyboards

      Casio is recalling about 12,000 electronic keyboards because of a fire hazard. The recalled keyboards can overheat when in use.

      Casio has received five reports of keyboards overheating, including two incidents that resulted in fire. There have been two reports of property damage, in addition to the unit itself. No injuries have been reported.

      The recall involves model CTK-710 of the Casio 61-key full-size electronic musical keyboards. The size of the keyboard is 37-11/16-inches by 14-1/16-inches by 5-1/4 inches. Products with serial numbers ranging from 7030001 through 7040400 and 7041901 through 7043500 are included in this recall. The brand and model information are found on the front of the unit above the keyboard and the serial number is found inside the battery compartment located on the underside of the unit.

      The keyboards were sold at Wal-Mart, Best Buy and music instrument stores nationwide, in catalogs, on Casios Web site, and on other Web sites between May 2006 and February 2007 for between $70 and $150.

      Consumers should stop using the keyboard immediately, unplug it and remove the batteries. Consumers should contact Casio for a free repair.

      Blair Recalls Women's Robes Again After Deaths

      The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Blair LLC, of Warren, Pa., have reissued the voluntary recall by Blair of 162,000 women's full length Chenille Robes.

      Since the recall was originally announced in April 2009, Blair has received reports of six deaths due to the robes catching fire. Five of the six victims were female, and all five were cooking at the time of the incidents. Three of the victims were in their 80s.

      CPSC and Blair announced the recall for the robes after Blair learned of three robes catching on fire, including one report of second-degree burns. Blair was subsequently made aware of the fatalities after the recall was announced and after the company had sent letters of the recall to consumers who purchased the robes.

      The Women's Chenille Robes have the following item numbers: 3093111, 3093112, 3093113, 3093114, 3093115, and 3093116. The item number is identified on a label in the garment's neckline.

      The robe is a one-piece garment made of plush sculpted chenille, a shaped stand collar, and horizontal chenille front and back yolks and cuffs. It has a full-button front with seven matching button closures, long sleeves with self-cuffs, a straight bottom with self-hem, and two sideseam pockets. The sewn-in label states: "100% Cotton, RN 81700, Made in Pakistan."

      The robes were sold in Blair catalogs and Web site, and Blair stores in Warren, Pa., Grove City, Pa., and Wilmington, Del., from January 2003 through March 2009 from about $20 to $40.

      CPSC and Blair once again urge consumers to stop wearing the garments immediately and contact Blair LLC for information on returning the robe and to receive a refund or a $50 gift card for Blair merchandise.

      Cobmex Inc. Recalls Youth Jackets with Drawstrings

      Cobmex Inc. is recalling youth jackets with drawstrings.

      The recalled jackets have drawstrings in the hood and waist, or only at the waist. Children can get entangled and strangle in drawstrings that can catch on playground equipment, fences or tree branches. In February 1996, the CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.

      The nylon, zipper front jackets were sold in youth sizes and have a Cobmex neck label. The jackets were manufactured in various colors, including navy, black, green, red and wine. Only youth-size jackets with drawstrings are included in the recall.

      The jackets were sold at children's clothing and school uniform stores nationwide from January 2006 through February 2007 for about $30.

      Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard or return the jacket to the store where purchased for a refund.

      Cobmex Inc. Recalls Youth Jackets with Drawstrings...

      Cressi Recalls Scuba Regulators

      Cressi is recalling about 200 of its Ellipse Black MC5 regulators.

      Partial obstruction of the High Pressure (HP) port can produce an inaccurate reading on the pressure gauge, resulting in a slow descent of the needle in the pressure gauge. The inaccurate reading on the gauge poses a drowning hazard to divers.

      The firm has received three reports of inaccurate pressure readings while the scuba regulators were in use. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves regulators used to control the flow of air while scuba diving, making it possible for divers to breathe under water. The recalled regulators have model name Ellipse Black MC5. Cressi MC5 and Cressi Black are printed on the regulator.

      The regulators, made in Italy, were sold at authorized dive shops nationwide and on the Internet from March 2009 through August 2009 for between $280 and $309.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the regulators and return them to a Cressi authorized dive shop for a free repair. Consumers can also return the product to Cressi at One Charles Street, Westwood, N.J. 07675.

      Cannondale Recalls Bicycles

      Cannondale is recalling about 1,500 bicycles equipped with JD suspension forks. The fork can lose alignment causing the front wheel to turn unexpectedly. This can cause the rider to lose control of the bicycle and crash.

      The recall involves model year 2008 Cannondale Adventure 2, Adventure 3, Adventure 2 Feminine and Adventure 3 Feminine bicycles. The model name is printed on the bicycle's frame. The bicycles have a suspension fork with the words "cannondale AT35 adventure trail" printed on them. Bicycles equipped with the Rock Shox i-ride fork are not included in the recall.

      The bicycles were sold by Cannondale from February 2009 through April 2009 for between $600 and $800.

      Consumers should stop riding the recalled bicycles immediately and contact their dealer to arrange for a free repair.

      Nearly 1 million educational solar system and DNA kits are being recalled by FloraCraft Corp. The surface coating on the educational kit's wires can contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      This recall involves the 'Solar System' and the 'DNA' children's educational craft kits sold under the FloraCraft and HYGLOSS brand names. The kits contain green coated wires that measure 14 ' inches long and Styrofoam shapes. The following model numbers are included in this recall. The model number is located on the kit's packaging.
