    'Little Builder' Childrens Board Book Sets

    Childrens Board Book Sets are being recalled by Dalmatian Press. The cylinder on the toy concrete mixer and the tailgate on the toy dump truck can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

    This recall involves Little Builder Childrens Board Book sets with ISBN 1-49373-215-9. The sets include four concept board books (colors, tools, 123, shapes) and two toy trucks (dump truck and concrete mixer truck).

    The sets were sold at Wal-Mart, Levy Home Entertainment, Lion Sales of NW Brunswick, Farris Wholesale Outlet, Crane Book Sales, Ingram Book Co., BPDI Corp., Books A Million and Christmas Tree Shop stores nationwide and on the Internet at Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com from August 2007 through February 2008 for about $9. They were made in China.

    Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys from young children and return the entire book set to the retailer where purchased for a refund or exchange.

    Serta Recalls Zipper-Covered Mattresses

    Serta International is recalling more than 6,000 zipper-covered foam core mattresses because they do not meet federal flammability standards.

    The recalled mattresses have a zipper cover over a foam core. The mattresses were sold in twin, full, queen, king and California king sizes. They were manufactured between November 30, 2007 and May 20, 2008. The mattress name, date of manufacture, model, and serial numbers are located on label attached to the mattress.

    Only specific serial numbers are included in the recall. The recalled mattresses are listed in the chart below.

    Mattress retailers nationwide sold the mattresses from December 2007 through May 2008 for up to $2,500. They were made in the United States.

    Consumers should immediately contact Serta to determine if their mattress is included in the recall, and if it is, to receive a free replacement mattress cover. Consumers can install the cover themselves or request free installation by a qualified repair technician.

    Spa at Home Gel Candles Recall Expanded

    About 1,700 Spa at Home gel candles are being recalled. The candles can have excessive flame height, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. An earlier recall was issued in February 2007.

    M & A Global Technologies, the distributor, has received four additional reports of higher than normal flames and flames coming in contact with nearby combustibles resulting in minor fires, smoke and soot damage. The company has also received one additional report of burn injuries to a consumer's hand.

    This recall involves Everlasting Jelly candles. Models include Champagne Glass with Heart, Model #502; Large Oval Bowl with Sand & Shells, Model #109-XL; Tumbler with Sand & Shells, Model #101-S; Round Shape with Curly Top and Red Roses, Model #506; Round Shape with Penguins, Model #604; Tumbler with Blue Roses & Leaves, Model #805-11; and Round Shape with Two Butterflies, Model #806-8. The candles were sold in clear glass containers of various sizes with a smaller glass of gel in the middle of the candle.

    The candles, made in the U.S., were sold at Spa at Home stores and Spaathome.com nationwide from October 2003 through December2003 and October 2005 through December 2005 for between $9 and $50.

    Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and contact M & A Global Technologies for instructions on returning the product.

      'Tumble Tower' Infant Rattle Recalled

      The Manhattan Group is recalling about 7,000 'Tumble Tower' infant rattles. The blue plastic end caps of the rattle can break, resulting in small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children.

      Manhattan Group has received two reports of the blue plastic end caps breaking. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled Tumble Tower baby rattle is 5 inches long and made of clear plastic with blue end cap pieces. The two clear handles feature colorful beads inside and brightly colored rings on the outside. A blue face spins on a purple post inside the rattle center when it is turned.

      The rattles were sold at gift and specialty stores nationwide, mail order catalogs, and the Internet from September 2007 through April 2008 for about $15. They were made in China.

      Consumers should take the toys away from young children and return them to the store where purchased for a refund or contact Manhattan Group to exchange the rattles for another toy.

      'Tumble Tower' Infant Rattle Recalled...

      WarmlyYours Recalls Comfortplus Rug Warmers

      WarmlyYours is recalling about 200 Comfortplus rug warmers. The rug warmer's cord can come loose from the plug and cause sparks or flames, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

      WarmlyYours has received two reports of incidents involving the rug warmer. One involved electrical sparks coming from the cord when it was pulled out. In the other incident, the cord caught fire and left burn marks on the area rug and floor. No injuries have been reported.

      The rug warmers are cream-colored with a non-slip pad, a tan nylon edging and a black electrical cord. They were sold in three sizes, small 3 ' ft. x 4 ' ft., medium 4 ' ft. x 7 ' ft., and large 7 ' ft. x 9 ' ft. Model numbers UAH-3646-120, UAH-4979-120, and UAH-7999-120 are printed on a label located on the underside of the rug warmer.

      The warmers were sold by WarmlyYours retail stores, and flooring stores nationwide, as well as numerous Web sites, for between $200 and $600. They were made in China and Canada.

      Consumers should stop using the rug warmer immediately, unplug it, and return the cord to WarmlyYours using the pre-paid shipping labels that the firm will provide for a full refund or a replacement product. WarmlyYours is directly contacting purchasers.

      Pacific Science Recalls Magnets

      Pacific Science is recalling about 40,000 U-shaped Magnets, Bar Magnets, Magnet Sets and Magnet Needle Sets.

      The paint on the magnets can contain excess levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      Magnets included in the recall:

      • 'Large' and 'Small' U-shaped Magnets: These magnets are in the shape of a 'U' or horseshoe. One half of each magnet is painted red and is imprinted with the letter 'N'; the other half is painted blue, and is imprinted with the letter 'S'.

      • 'Large' and 'Miniature' Bar Magnets: These magnets are in the shape of a bar. The magnets are painted half red and half white. The red half is imprinted with the letter 'N' and the white half is imprinted with the letter 'S'.

      • Magnet Sets: This set contains a small u-shaped magnet, two small bar magnets, and two small compasses. All magnets are painted half red and half white. The red half is imprinted with the letter 'N' and the white half is imprinted with the letter 'S'. The package is labeled 'Magnets & Compasses.'

      • Magnet Needle Sets: This set contains 10 sets of small cone-shape bases and elongated-diamond-shaped magnets which can be fastened into the bases. The magnets are painted half red and half white.

      The magnets were sold through distributors nationwide which sell to educational institutions, including colleges, high schools and middle schools. A small number were sold through educational stores nationwide from April 2000 through February 2008 for about $9. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled magnets and contact the firm to receive a free replacement.

      2nd Nature Built to Grow Cribs

      Stanley Furniture is recalling about 1,200 2nd Nature Built to Grow Cribs.

      The cribs could fail to meet a federal safety standard for crib dimensions. When the mattress support is in the middle setting, the space between the mattress and the crib could be too wide, posing an entrapment hazard to infants.

      This recall involves the full size 2nd Nature Built to Grow cribs, model number 353-14-220. Model and serial numbers are located on the headboard. The crib is natural maple in color. Only the following serial numbers are included in the recall: 353-14-220-L-01, 353-14-220-L-02, 353-14-220-L-03, 353-14-220-L-04, 353-14-220-L-05, 353-14-220-L-06, 353-14-220-L-07, 353-14-220-L-08, 353-14-220-L-101, and 353-14-220-L-103. The recall does not include cribs sold after December 2007.

      The cribs were sold at department and furniture stores from March 2006 through December 2007 for about $1,100. They were made in Slovenia.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the crib in the middle mattress setting, and adjust it to the low or high setting. Contact Stanley Furniture to determine if the crib is subject to this recall, and if it is, to receive a free replacement crib headboard.

      2nd Nature Built to Grow Cribs...

      Jo-Ann Stores Recalls SmartSpace Chairs

      Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores Inc. is recalling about 6,000 SmartSpace Papasan chairs. The chairs were sold without a warning label instructing consumers to lock the chair's legs before sitting. This poses a fall hazard to consumers.

      Jo-Ann has received five reports of chairs collapsing when the legs were not locked. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the SmartSpace Papasan chair. The silver metal frame chair has a circular fabric seat that sits on a 10-inch-tall base. The fabric seat used with the papasan chairs were sold in purple, pacific, lime yellow and gray. A hangtag on the chair reads 'Smartspace Papasan Chair 1 piece.

      The chairs, made in China, were sold at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores nationwide from June 2008 through September 2008 for about $25.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the chair until a warning label, instructing consumers to engage the legs in the locked position before use, has been obtained from Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.

      Radio Shack Recalls Power Supplies

      Radio Shack is recalling about 160,000 13.8V DC power supplies. The recalled power supplies are wired incorrectly, posing electrocution and fire hazards.

      The recall involves RadioShack 13.8V DC Power Supplies, catalog numbers 22-507 and 22-508 with date codes from 08A04 through 01A08. Date code format is MMAYY where MM is the month and YY is the year. The catalog number and date code are located on the back of the power supply. Power Supplies with a green dot on the product and the product's packaging have already been repaired and are not included in the recall.

      The units were sold at RadioShack stores nationwide from October 2004 through January 2008 for between $50 and $85. They were made in China.

      Consumers should unplug the recalled power supply immediately and take it to any RadioShack store for a free repair. Registered owners of the recalled power supplies will be mailed a notice.

      About 4,800 Broil King Gas Grills are being recalled. The bottom of the cook box that contains the burners can melt or crack as a result of a grease fire.

      This recall includes the Signet, Sovereign and Sovereign XL series gas grills.

      MacGregor, Mitre Folding Soccer Goals Recalled

      Regent Sports is recalling about 190,000 MacGregor and Mitre folding soccer goals following the strangulation death of a 20-month-old child.

      The fixed knot flexible openings in the soccer goal net can pose a head and neck entrapment or strangulation hazard to young children.

      There have been two reports of head entanglement, including the strangulation death of a 20-month-old child who was found with his arm and neck tangled in the soccer goal net.

      Both soccer goals have a foldable white frame with a white net that is attached by Velcro strips. When upright, the MacGregor goal measures 6 feet wide by 3 feet high and the Mitre net measures 8 feet wide by 6 feet high. Each has a recalled net with squares measuring 5 inches on each side. The MacGregor soccer goal has model number 97236 printed on the assembly instructions and UPC code number 029807972365 printed on the nets packaging. The Mitre soccer goal has model number 89186 printed on the assembly instructions and UPC code number 029807891864 printed on the nets packaging. Nets manufactured after April 2007 with 4 inch by 4 inch square openings are not included in the recall.

      The goals were sold at Wal-Mart, Ace Hardware and sports and toy stores nationwide from May 2002 through May 2008 for $26. They were made in China.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled soccer goal nets immediately and return them to Regent Sports to receive a free replacement net.

      Foursquare Recalls Hooded Youth Jackets

      Foursquare Outerware is recalling about 1,300 hooded youth jackets with drawstrings. The drawstrings pose a strangulation hazard to children.

      This recall involves the Foursquare hooded jackets with drawstrings in boys and girls sizes XS, S, M, L, and XL. The jackets come in various colors and patterns and have a logo showing four adjacent, vertically offset squares on the sleeve, waist, breast and/or back of the jacket, depending on the specific model.

      The jackets, made in Taiwan, were sold at snowboard, ski and sportswear stores nationwide from June 2008 through November 2008 for about $125.

      Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or contact Foursquare for a full refund.

      Coby Recalls Rechargeable DVD/CD/MP3 Player Batteries

      Coby Electronics is recalling about 13,000 rechargeable batteries sold with portable DVD/CD.MP3 players. The rechargeable batteries can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

      Coby Electronics has received four reports of batteries overheating, three of which resulted in minor property damage from a fire. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves batteries with serial numbers listed below sold with the TF-DVD 1020 portable DVD/CD/MP3 players. The batterys serial number can be found on a white sticker affixed to it. The product looks like a small laptop computer and has a 10 swivel TV screen. COBY is written on the front cover and under the screen. TF-DVD 1020 can be found on the bottom of the unit.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the TV-DVD 1020 players with the recalled batteries and contact the firm to arrange for a free replacement battery. After removing the recalled batteries from the unit, consumers can continue to use it with the AC or DC power adapter.

      Xtreme Toy Zone is recalling about 480 toy dinosaurs. Surface paint can contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recalled Dinosaur Epoch Toy Dinosaurs are battery-operated dinosaurs that move and make sounds. The recall includes the orange-colored Dinosaur Brachiosaurus (model #1033) and the green, yellow and orange-colored Dinosaur Carnotaurus (model #1030). The model number can be located on the toys battery cover.

      The toys, made in China, were sold at Xtreme Toy Zones Web site from May 2008 through October 2008 for between $15 and $20.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact Xtreme Toy Zone for a refund or exchange.

      Payless ShoeSource Recalls Girls 'Hannah Montana' Boots

      Payless ShoeSource is recalling about 90,000 pairs of girls' boots. The guitar-shaped zipper pulls on each boot can interlock while a child is walking, causing the child to trip and fall.

      Payless has received five reports of the zipper pulls interlocking, including one report of a four-year-old girl who fell and skinned her knees.

      This recall involves black jeweled girls boots. The boots have a silhouette of a guitar on the outer leg and a guitar-shaped zipper pull on the inner leg. Hannah Montana is engraved on the boot outsole and a photo of the singer and shows character is printed on the box. The boots were sold in girls sizes 10 1/2 to 4 1/2 . No other styles or models are involved in this recall.

      The boots were sold at Payless ShoeSource stores nationwide and Payless.com from August 2007 through September 2007 for about $27. They were made in China.

      Consumers should take these boots away from children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund or exchange.

      Disney Store Recalls 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Sleeping Bags

      The Disney Store is recalling about 4,100 'Pirates of the Caribbean' sleeping bags.

      The surface paint on the sleeping bag's zipper pull contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recalled Pirates of the Caribbean sleeping bags have a cartoon pirate design of Davey Jones and Jack Sparrow on the front. Style number F1652B0003 is printed on the logo label inside the sleeping bags. The sleeping bag with the skull art design is not included in this recall.

      The bags were sold exclusively at Disney stores nationwide from April 2007 through October 2007 for about $25. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled sleeping bags away from children and return them to any Disney Store for a full refund.

      Discount School Supply is recalling about 60 Tic Tac Turtle toss mats. The paint contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      This recall involves 50-inch vinyl/polyester play mats. The double sided mats have a number design on one side and a turtle design on the other. The mats are yellow with numbers and designs painted in red, blue, green and black. The mat has the Discount School Supply name and logo printed in the corner on both sides of the mat. Bean bags pictured with the mat are sold separately.

      The mats were sold by Discount School Supply catalogs and the company's Web site from June 2007 through September 2007 for about $40. They were made in China.

      Consumers should stop using the mat immediately and contact Discount School Supply to receive a credit or refund.

      Kids with Character LLC is recalling about 1,200 Bongo Cheetah Girls Jackets. The garments have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.

      The recalled garments are Bongo Cheetah Girls Jackets with style number 8N6003 and RN number 119132 printed on the care label. The jackets were sold in girls sizes 4 through 6X.

      The jackets, made in China, were sold at Marshalls stores nationwide from November 2007 through August 2008 for about $25.

      Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or return the garment to either Marshalls retail store or Kids with Character for a full refund.

      Hewlett-Packard Co. Recalls Fax Machines Due to Fire Hazard

      Hewlett-Packard is recalling about 367,000 HP Fax 1010 and 1010xi Machines. An internal electrical component failure can cause overheating of the product posing a risk of burn or fire.

      Hewlett-Packard has received three reports of overheating including two in the U.S. resulting in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the HP Fax 1010 and HP Fax 1010xi models manufactured from November 2002 through September 2004. The HP logo and the model name and number are printed on the front of the fax machine.

      The machines were sold at electronic, computer and camera stores nationwide, as well as Web retailers from November 2002 through December 2004 for between $130 and $150. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately disconnect the recalled fax machine from the electrical power source and contact HP to receive a rebate.

      Taggies Stroller Activity Bars Recalled

      International Playthings Inc. is recalling about 10,000 "Taggies" stroller activity bars.

      The shiny material on the elephants ear on the activity bar can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

      International Playthings has received three reports of the shiny material detaching and children putting it in their mouths. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the "Taggies Strollin Along" stroller activity bars. The multicolored, fabric, and plastic activity bars feature a yellow giraffe, a purple hippo and a blue elephant attached to a 12 long elliptical base with straps that attach to a stroller. The Taggies and Earlyears logos are located on woven and satin labels sewn into the seam on the lower left front of the activity bar.

      The items were sold at specialty toy stores nationwide and on the Internet from February 2007 through July 2008 for about $23. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the activity bars and contact International Playthings for a free replacement toy.
