    Lexus Recall for Faulty Fuel Line

    Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling 49,000 Lexus cars sold in the U.S. and worldwide as 215,020 of the vehicles sold in Japan because of a faulty fuel pipe that could lead to a fuel leaks.

    The recall covers the Lexus GS350, Lexus IS250, Lexus IS350 and Mark X sedans manufactured between December 2003 and December 2005, according to a report the automaker filed with the Japanese transport ministry.

    Toyota said no accidents have been reported because of the defect.

    Metalux Fluorescent Shop Lights Recalled

    Cooper Lighting Inc. is recalling about 274,000 Metalux fluorescent shop lights. When the two prongs on the plugs electrical cord are touched simultaneously while lamps are installed, the light can pose an electric shock hazard to consumers.

    Cooper Lighting has received six reports of consumers experiencing an electric shock. No serious injuries have occurred.

    This recall involves the Metalux fluorescent shop lights Model 9240. Only date codes between December 1, 2006 (344 06) and September 14, 2007 (257 07) are included in this recall. The date code format includes the day and the year. For example, 344 06 refers to the 344th day of year 2006, or December 1, 2006. The model number and date code can be found on the packaging and on labels adhered to the fixture housing.

    The lights were sold at major home center and hardware stores nationwide from January 2007 to October 2007 for between $8 and $10. They were made in China.

    Consumers should stop using the light fixture immediately and uninstall it according to instructions posted at www.cooperlighting.com. The fixture should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund or credit.

    Honeywell Security System Controllers Recalled

    February 12, 2007
    Atmel Corp. is recalling about 4,000 microcontrollers used in Honeywell digital cellular communicators that power home and business security systems.

    The microcontroller in the communicator can enter an unrecoverable lock-up state due to a programming issue. The lock-up could result in a service interruption, and fail to transmit an alarm signal in the event of a fire or property invasion.

    Honeywell has received 39 reports of problems with the microcontroller where it reportedly entered an unrecoverable lock-up state. There have been no reports of failure to report an emergency and no reports of injury or property damage.

    The digital cellular communicator can be used as a primary means of security communications for a residence or business. The recall involves the Atmel microcontroller AT91SAM7S256 installed in Honeywell digital cellular communicator, Model 7845GSM.

    Distributors nationwide sold the recalled communicators to commercial installers from July 2006 through October 2006 for about $250.

    Customers who have not been contacted directly should immediately contact the firm for information on how to receive a free replacement communicator with updated software. Installers that purchased the communicators have been contacted directly.

      Acura RL Sedans Recalled

      Honda has recalled 43,200 Acura RL sold in the U.S. because of a faulty power steering hose that could crack, leak fluid onto the catalytic converter and cause a fire.

      Honda said that high temperatures under the hood of the Acura RL can cause the power steering hose to crack.

      If power steering fluid leaks onto the catalytic converter a fire can result according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

      Honda reports that no injuries or fires have resulted from the faulty hose however.

      The recall affects Acura RL sedans from the 2005-2008 model years.

      All of the recalled Acura automobiles were made in Japan.

      Children's Necklaces and Charm Bracelets Recalled

      Cardinal Distributing Co., of Baltimore, Md. is recalling 900,000 children's necklaces and charm bracelets because the paint on the jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled necklaces have sports-themed pendants including blue or green basketballs, yellow stars, '01,' and 'Perfect 10.' The pendants hang from a black cord. The bracelets include green or pink painted heart-shaped charms and silver-colored charms shaped as suns, moons, stars, padlocks, keys, rattles, and fishbones.

      The items were sold in vending machines located in malls, discount, department and grocery stores nationwide from January 2006 through April 2007 for 25 cents.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled necklaces and charm bracelets away from children and discard them.

      The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is recalling about 11,000 'Soldier Bear' toys. The surface paint on the toys contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      This recall involves the following wooden toys and a plastic military vehicle toy playset. The style number, UPC codes and 'Soldier Bear' logo are printed on the toy's packaging.

      Thomasville Lamps Recalled

      Currey & Company is rcalling about 2,600 Thomasville table and floor lamps. The lamps' light socket has a defect, which poses electrical shock and fire hazards.

      Currey & Company has received six reports of lamps tripping circuits and sparking or catching on fire. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

      This recall involves Thomasville table and floor lamps in the Felicity Collection. The recalled table lamps include model numbers starting with 60001 and ending with 1006, 1007, 1008, 1009, 1010, 1011, 1012, 1013, 1014, 1015, 1018, 1019 and 1020. The floor lamps include model numbers starting with 60001 and ending with 1016 or 1017. The model number is printed on the packaging and on the bottom of the lamp base.

      The lamps were sold at Thomasville Furniture dealers nationwide from August 2006 through October 2006. The table lamps were sold for between $240 and $380. The floor lamps were sold for about $370.

      Consumers should stop using the lamps immediately and return them to the retailer where purchased to receive a free replacement lamp.

      Cannondale Recalls Road Bicycles Due to Brake Failure

      Cannondale is recalling its 2007 Model road bicycles. The bicycle's front brake can fail, causing the rider to lose control and fall.

      The recalled road racing bicycles are made from aluminum and carbon fiber or all carbon fiber. The model name is printed on the bicycle's top tube. They were sold in the following colors: natural aluminum/carbon, red, black or black and blue.

      Recalled models include:
      • 2007 Six 13 Team 1
      • 2007 Six 13 Team 1/Compact Drive
      • 2007 Synapse Carbon SL1/Compact Drive Si Crank
      • 2007 Synapse Carbon SL1/Standard bottom bracket, Dura Ace Crank

      The bikes were sold by authorized Cannondale dealers nationwide from July 2006 through November 2006 for between $3,200 and $4,500.

      Consumers should stop using the bicycles immediately until inspected or repaired. Cannondale or Authorized Cannondale Dealers have contacted affected consumers directly for a free inspection and repair, if necessary.

      Children's "Kidsite" jewelry sold at Kmart is being recalled. The necklace and earring sets contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The children's necklace and earring sets have birthstones made of plastic gemstones in various colors. The pendants on the necklaces are shaped like flowers on a silver-colored chain. The matching pierced earrings have round birthstones. The month of the birthstone and "Kidsite" are printed on the front of the products' packaging. Kmart is printed on the back.

      The rings were sold exclusively at Kmart stores nationwide from October 2001 through December 2006 for about $5.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled product away from children and return it to any Kmart store to receive one of three free children's jewelry sets.

      Wolverine Recalls Caterpillar Logger Boots

      Wolverine World Wide Inc. is recalling about 9,500 of its Caterpillar brand steel toe logger boots.

      The recalled logger boots could be incorrectly labeled as resistant to electrical current. This poses a shock hazard to consumers who come in contact with an electrical current.

      This recall involves Caterpillar brand steel toe logger boots. The boots were sold in women's and men's sizes. Women's boots were sold in black and have stock number P88030. Men's boots were sold in brown and black and have stock numbers P88033 or P88034. Stock numbers are printed on a label on the tongue of the shoe. The Caterpillar logo and 'EH' are also printed on the label. The word 'Caterpillar' is printed on the outside of the boots.

      The boots were sold by shoe stores and other independent retailers nationwide from September 2006 through July 2007 for between $90 and $130. They were manufactured in China.

      Consumers should stop wearing the recalled boots immediately and contact Wolverine World Wide to receive a free replacement pair of boots.

      Royal Products Recalls Pine Cone Candles

      Royal Products Inc. is recalling its Vivre Royale Pine Cone Candles because they present a fire hazard.

      The candles exterior coating and beads can ignite and catch fire. The fire resulting from the coating and beads on the exterior of the candle could ignite nearby combustibles.

      The firm has received one report of a candle fire causing minor property damage. CPSC has received one report of a flare up with damage contained to the candle. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the Vivre Royale Pine Cone Candle, Item Number 41419. The item number is located on the packaging of the product. The warning label on the bottom of the packaging states, Made in China. Royal Products Inc. The candle is shaped like a pine cone. The candle wax is purple inside and the coating on the outside of the candle is brown and gold. There are small clear beads all over the outside of the candle.

      The candles were sold through specialty stores nationwide from October 2005 through December 2006 for between $12 and $15.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and return them to the place of purchase for an exchange or full refund.

      RC2 Recalls Knights of the Sword Toys

      RC2 Corp. is recalling about 800 Britains Knights of the Sword series toys. Surface paints on the toy knights contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The three recalled silver knight toys are mounted on red horses sold individually in see-through blister cards. Britains and Knights of the Sword are printed on the top of the card in the packaging. The recalled toys include a mounted silver knight on a red horse with an axe; a mounted silver knight on a red horse with two hands on a raised weapon; and a mounted silver knight on a red horse with a lance.

      The toys were sold at specialty toy stores nationwide from April 2004 through March 2006 for about $8. They were made in China.

      Consumers should take these recalled toys away from young children immediately and contact RC2 to receive a full refund.

      Pacifiers Decorated with Crystals Recalled

      Pacifiers decorated with crystals are being recalled because of the aspiration and ingestion hazard they pose to infants.

      The pacifiers were sold by: Dara Linda's Baby Bling and Jewelry Design, of Davie, Fla.; Bling Toes, of Cherry Valley, Ill.; Baby Bling Things, of Appleton, Wis.; PeaNaPod Bling and Accessories, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and MJM Crystal Designs, of Boca Raton, Fla.

      The pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards for pacifiers. The pacifiers' crystals can separate easily, posing an aspiration and ingestion hazard to young children.

      The recall involves pacifiers that were purchased from stores, decorated with Swarovski crystals, then resold to consumers. The crystals were glued on the pacifier's handle and guard. They come in different colors and designs. The chart below lists additional information about the products sold.

      Silver stud earrings sold exclusively at Kmart are being recalled by Crimzon Rose Accessories. The recalled earrings contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The earrings are oval-shaped, silver-colored studs. ACCESSORIES is printed on the front of the earrings packaging. Kmart is printed on the back.

      The earrings were sold exclusively at Kmart stores nationwide from October 2004 through March 2007 for about $3.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled earrings and return them to any Kmart store for a free replacement pair of earrings.

      J.C. Penney is recalling about 2,400 Breyer 2006 stirrup ornaments. Surface paints on the ornaments contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recall involves a stirrup-shaped ornament with a white prancing horse and blue ribbons. 2006 is stamped on the rim of the ornament.

      The ornaments were sold through the J.C. Penney catalog and Web site from August 2006 through August 2007 for about $18. They were made in China.

      Consumers should keep the ornament away from young children and return it to any J.C. Penney store for a full refund.

      Cherrydale Fundraising is recalling about 45,000 stretchable aqua bracelets. The bracelets contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled bracelets are stretchable, with silver-colored square links and aqua-colored beads. SKU#5384706813 is printed on the packaging.

      The bracelets were sold at dollar stores, liquidators, and schools as part of fundraising, nationwide from September 2003 through April 2007 for between $1 and $12. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bracelets and take them away from young children. Return them to the store where purchased or contact the firm to receive a full refund.

      Mirraco BMX Bicycles Recalled

      February 27, 2007
      Mirraco LLC is recalling about 11,000 BMX bicycles. The front wheel forks on these bicycles could have been welded improperly. This poses a risk that the weld could fail, and the rider could lose control and fall.

      The firm has received four reports of steer tube rotation and one report of a fork separation due to failure of the welds. No injuries have been reported.

      The recall involves BMX bicycles. The model name is printed on the bicycle. Recalled models include the following:

      BMX Bicycles Recalled...

      Sportsstuff Air Pumps

      January 16, 2007
      Sportsstuff Inc. is recalling about 11,000 air pumps. The pumps can overheat and explode during use, posing a risk of lacerations to the user and nearby consumers.

      Sportsstuff has received 52 reports of pumps exploding, 13 of which resulted in lacerations. Six of these incidents involved facial lacerations and one consumer reported an eye injury.

      The recalled products are 2.5 PSI pumps with model numbers 57-1504-A and 57-1504 that are used to inflate low pressure inflatable items such as rafts and toys. The Model No. 57-1504-A pump was sold separately with an assortment of interlocking nozzles to adapt to a number of needs. The Model 57-1504 pump was sold with the Sportsstuff Launch Pod, an inflatable water trampoline sold under Sportsstuff number 58-1002.

      The model number and the date code "0104" are located on the Underwriters' Laboratories label on the top of each pump. "2.5 PSI" was not written on the air pump, but was written on the packaging.

      The pumps were sold through marine distributors, mail order catalogs, and sporting good and various other stores nationwide from January 2004 through January 2005 for about $50. The Launch Pod water trampolines that included recalled pumps were sold at Sam's Club from January 2004 through August 2004 for about $375.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the pumps and contact Sportsstuff for a free replacement.

      Holmes Oil-Filled Electric Heaters Recalled

      The Holmes Group is recalling about 300,000 oil-filled electric heaters. A poor electrical connection within the heater can lead to overheating. This poses fire and thermal burn hazards.

      The Holmes Group has received reports of 59 incidents involving the recalled heaters. There were 12 reports of minor injuries including four reported burns. There were 36 reports of property damage including four fires that caused between $41,000 and $200,000 in damage.

      The recall involves Holmes oil-filled electric heaters with model number HOH2505 and HOH2520. The model number and "Holmes" are printed on the side of the unit near the bottom.

      The heaters were sold at discount department stores, hardware stores and other retailers from September 2005 through February 2007 for between $40 and $50.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled heaters and contact the Holmes Group to receive a free replacement heater.

      Jo-Ann Stores Water Globes

      Jo-Ann Stores Inc. is recalling childrens Robbie Ducky holiday water globes. The painted base of the water globes contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recalled Robbie Ducky water globe is about 1-1/2 inches in diameter and sits on a 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 inch square base. There are four different globe designs including: Robbie Ducky on a red base, a reindeer on a green base, a penguin on a green base and a polar bear on a red base. Holiday Inspirations Water Globe is printed on the bottom of the globes.

      The globes were sold at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores in Florida, Texas, Missouri and Georgia in November 2007 for about $5. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled globes away from children and return them to any Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store for a full refund.
