    Small World Wooden Puzzles

    Small World is recalling children's wooden sound puzzles because of a choking hazard. The recall includes the "Sounds on the Farm" Puzzle and the "Sounds on the Go" Puzzle.

    The knobs on the recalled puzzle pieces can come off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

    Small World Toys has received 42 reports of the knobs detaching from the puzzle pieces. No injuries have been reported.

    The recalled involves two separate wooden-knobbed puzzles that make sounds. "Sounds on the Farm" and "Sounds on the Go" puzzles were sold under the Puzzibilities and Ryans Room brands. The wooden puzzles have four pieces in farm animal or vehicle shapes that make animal or motor sounds when the pieces are lifted by their knobs from the puzzle boards.

    "Sounds on the Farm" or "Sounds on the Go" is printed on the top left of the puzzle boards. "2003 Small World Toys" and the number 24101 or 24102 are printed at the bottom of the puzzles boards.

    Puzzibilities puzzles were sold at toy stores and various retailers nationwide and by catalogs from June 2003 through February 2007. Ryan's Room puzzles were sold at Target Stores nationwide from January 2006 through February 2007. Both puzzles sold for about $16.

    Consumers should immediately take this toy away from children and contact Small World Toys to obtain a free replacement toy.

    "Lovely Baby," "Happy Baby" Dolls

    OKK Trading is recalling about 3,500 "Lovely Baby" and "Happy Baby" dolls. The dolls contain small parts, which can pose a choking hazard to young children.

    This recall involves the "Lovely Baby" and "Happy Baby" plastic dolls. The dolls come in different sizes ranging from six to 11 inches tall. Some dolls come in a basket and have a baby bottle and some sing when pressed on the abdominal area. The packaging is a clear plastic bag sealed at the top with a cardboard label with the name "Lovely Baby" or "Happy Baby" printed on it.

    The dolls were sold at Dollar stores nationwide from September 2006 through October 2006 for $1.

    Consumers should immediately take these dolls away from children. Consumers should return the doll to the store where purchased for a refund.

    Holmes Oscillating Tower Fans Recalled

    Holmes oscillating tower fans are being called because electrical arcing in the fan's wiring can cause a fire hazard.

    The Holmes Group has received 16 reports of property damage, including one reported injury involving minor burns and smoke inhalation.

    The recall involves the Holmes HT30 Oscillating Tower Fan. The model number can be found on the silver label on the back of the unit. The tower fans are white. "Holmes" is printed on the front of the base.

    The fans were sold at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and additional department and specialty stores nationwide from July 2002 through June 2005 for about $30.

    Consumers should immediately stop using the fans and contact The Holmes Group for instructions on receiving a free replacement unit.

      Target Recalls Baby Rattles and Ornaments

      Target is recalling about 460,000 plush baby rattles and photo frame ornaments. Small parts on the plush rattles and frame ornaments can break or detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Additionally, the rattles' plastic ring can break and expose sharp points.

      Target has received 11 reports of the pompoms, eyes, nose and bows detaching from rattles and frame ornaments, including one report of a baby mouthing a detached part. No injuries have been reported.

      The recall involves plush rattles and frame ornaments sold in the "See. Spot. Save." department of Target stores. The two styles of rattles include a pink bear and a green moose. The plush animals either have a rattle inside or a plastic ring attached. The photo frame ornaments are a pink bear or green moose holding either a square or heart-shaped frame.

      The items were sold at Target stores exclusively nationwide from November 2006 through December 2006 for $1.

      Consumers should stop using the rattles and photo frames immediately and return them to the nearest Target store for a Target GiftCard worth the value of the returned item plus applicable sales tax.

      eebee's 'Have a Ball' Cloth Books Recalled

      Sterling Publishing is recalling about 15,000 eebee's "Have a Ball" cloth books. A string attaching a ball to the book can become entangled in the basketball hoop element, posing a strangulation hazard to young children.

      This recall involves the eebees Have a Ball Adventure cloth book. This interactive activity book has a small cloth ball attached to a string which children use to complete activities in the book. The books are intended for children ages 9 to 36 months. ISBN 13:978-1-4027-5771-6 is located on a white tag attached to the book. Other eebees Adventures cloth books are not included in this recall.

      The books, made in China, were sold at book and toy stores nationwide and Internet retailers from June 2008 through June 2009 for about $15.

      Consumers should immediately take the book away from children, and return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.

      Battat Inc. is recalling about 300,000 Parents Magazine Toy Cell Phones.

      The metal pin inside the hinge of the cell phone flip-top can fall out, posing a choking hazard to young children.

      The firm has received 54 reports of the metal pin falling out of the hinge. In two cases, consumers reported finding the pin inside a childs mouth, with one child receiving a cut in the mouth.

      The toy cell phone plays different songs, sound effects and user recorded messages. They were sold in polka dot, swirl, floral and stripe patterns, and the Parents logo is visible inside the flip-top and on the battery compartment cover. Only items bearing date codes 090106 through 101206 are involved in this recall. The date code can be located on the bottom of the product packaging and in the battery compartment.

      The phones were sold by Target stores nationwide from September 2006 to January 2007 for about $8.

      Consumers should take these toy cell phones away from young children immediately and contact Battat to receive a replacement product or refund.

      IQ Preschool Take-Apart Townhouse

      Small World Toys is recalling its IQ Preschool Take-Apart Townhouse.

      Small magnets used to connect the wooden pieces to the sides of the townhouse can fall out. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.

      CPSC and Small World Toys have received two reports of magnets coming off of the townhouse pieces. No injuries have been reported.

      These wooden toys, for children ages 18+ months, are shaped like houses measuring 8.5 inches high by about 4.5 inches wide. They have nine pieces that children can disassemble and reassemble. Each house has a green chimney and a blue and yellow striped pillar with a purple base at each corner.

      The sides of the house have four removable panels of different shapes with red knobs that children use to pull the panels off. IQ Preschool appears on the side of the house below the blue and green rectangular panel. Model number 2408808 appears on the packaging.

      The items were sold at toy stores and various other retailers nationwide and through catalogs from December 2004 through February 2007 for about $21.

      Parents should take these toys away from children immediately and contact the firm to obtain a free replacement product.

      Dunkin Donuts Recalls Glow Sticks

      Dunkin Donuts is recalling 1 million pink and orange glow sticks that were given away with donuts.

      The recalled glow sticks are not properly labeled to warn consumers that the cap and lanyard can detach, posing a choking hazard. Additionally, the lanyard poses a strangulation hazard to young children.

      The glow sticks were given away at Dunkin Donuts stores nationwide from September 2007 through October 2007. They were manufactured in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled glow sticks away from young children and return them to any Dunkin Donuts for a free donut.

      Fisher-Price Bongo Band Toys Recalled

      Lead paint hazard

      Fisher-Price is recalling nearly 9,000 Big Big World 6-in-1 Bongo Band toys because the paint contains excessive levels of lead.

      The recalled toys have two bongos, including one with a yellow and green plastic drum base with a blue drum surface. The other bongo is yellow and green plastic drum base with an orange drum surface with Its a Big, Big World printed on it.

      The toys were sold with animal shaped accessories including a monkey, bird, tambourine and drum stick. The toys have product number K9343 inside the orange drum. A date code between 139-7SH and 232-7SH is printed on the drums orange ring surface. Bongo Band toys included in this recall must have both the product number and date code.

      The toys were sold at retail stores nationwide from July 2007 through August 2007 for about $20.

      They were manufactured in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact Fisher-Price for instructions on returning the product in order to receive a free replacement toy.

      Sleepi Crib Mattresses Recalled

      About 1,000 Sleepi crib foam mattresses are being recalled. The mattresses are not properly sized, creating a gap, posing an entrapment hazard to young children.

      Only oval shaped Sleepi cribs with foam mattresses sold under the following model numbers are the subject of this recall: 660321, 660320, 660301,660305, 660318, 652268, 652269, 652246, 652247 and 652248. The cribs were sold in a variety of colors, including white, walnut, natural, cherry and whitewash. The model number can be found on the packaging and underside of the crib.

      The mattresses were sold at juvenile product retailers nationwide and via the Internet from September 2006 through March 2007 for between $750 and $850.

      They were manufactured in Italy.

      Consumers should stop using the cribs immediately and contact Stokke LLC to receive a free replacement mattress.

      Sleepi Crib Mattresses Recalled...

      REI Bicycles Recalled

      REI is recalling 2005 Novara Trionfo bicycles. The fork can separate from the steerer tube which can cause the rider to lose control, posing a fall hazard.

      The firm has received two reports of forks separating causing riders to fall. Injuries reported include a fractured clavicle, broken teeth, facial damage and head injuries.

      This recall involves 2005 Novara Trionfo bicycles with Aprebic carbon fiber forks. The bicycles are blue and white with black forks, and have the name 'Novara' printed on the bars.

      The bicycles, made in Taiwan, were sold at REI retail stores nationwide from January 2005 through August 2006 for between $720 and $1,900.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and return them to an REI retail store a free repair.

      "Groovy Grabber" Bracelets Recalled

      A&A Global Industries is recalling about 4 million "Groovy Grabber" bracelets. The paint on the metallic band beneath the decorative cover contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled bracelets are made of flexible metal bands wrapped in decorative plastic covers. The bracelets come in various colors and designs, including smiley faces, Chinese symbols, dogs, cats, aliens, checker boards, and flames.

      The bracelets were sold in vending machines located in malls, discount, department and grocery stores nationwide from November 2005 through March 2007 for 25 cents.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled bracelets away from children and discard them.

      Valero Recalls 900,000 Barrels of Propane

      Valero Marketing & Supply Co. is recalling about 919,000 barrels of propane LP gas.

      An odorant is normally added to propane to help alert customers to a propane gas leak, but this propane might not have the recommended level of odorant. Failure to detect leaking gas can present a fire, explosion or thermal burn hazard to consumers.

      Meijer Recalls Firepits

      Meijer Inc. is recalling about 6,000 firepits. The legs of the firepit can bend or snap off during use, causing the firepit to tip over and in turn the fire can escape.

      The firm has received reports of two incidents in which the legs of the firepits bowed in and buckled. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the Grand Gourmet metal wood-burning firepits model FSQ279. The firepit is black, has four legs and two sparks guards on top. It measures 27 inches wide by 27 inches deep by 25 1/2 inches high. The model number can be found on the cover page of the product manual.

      The firepits were sold at Meijer retail stores in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky from September 2004 through August 2007 for about $60. They were made in Taiwan.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled firepits immediately and return them to their nearest Meijer retailer for a full refund.

      Giftco Recalls Pine Cone Candle Sets

      August 15, 2007
      Giftco is recalling about 24,000 "Gold Pine Cone" candle sets. The candles exterior paint and coating can ignite and catch fire, igniting nearby combustibles.

      CPSC has received one report of a flare-up with damage contained to the candle. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Gold Pine Cone Candles (set of three), Item Numbers 1240 and R1240. The item number is located on the products packaging. The set includes three candles of different sizes that sit on a gold plate.

      The candles were sold at Christmas stores, school fundraisers, mail order, and specialty stores nationwide from September 2001 through December 2006 for between $4 and $25.

      They were manufactured in Hong Kong.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and contact Giftco for a full refund.

      Starbucks Recalls Children's Plastic Cups

      Starbucks is recalling about 250,000 children's plastic cups. If the cup is dropped, the colorful face on the cup can break off and leave small parts or sharp exposed edges that can pose a choking or laceration hazard to young children.

      Starbucks has received seven reports of the cups breaking, including two reports in which a child began to choke on a broken piece. No injuries have been reported.

      The recall includes four styles of Starbucks childrens plastic 10-ounce cups. Styles include: Dot Red Ladybug; Dash Green Turtle; Bunny Pink; and Chick Yellow cups.

      The cups were sold exclusively at Starbucks stores nationwide from May 2006 through August 2007 for about $6. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled cups away from young children and contact Starbucks for instructions on returning the cups for a refund. Starbucks is also offering a complimentary beverage as an incentive to return the recalled cups.

      RC2 Recalls Potty Training Seats

      RC2 Corp. is recalling about 160,000 of its 'The First Years' "3-in-1 Flush and Sounds Potty Seats."

      A decorative plaque inserted into the back of the potty seat could have orange paint that contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recall involves the First Years 3-in-1 Flush and Sounds potty training seats. Each seat has either a yellow chair with a green removable seat and a purple lift out-pot or a blue chair with a white removable seat and green lift out-pot. The words "100 Acre Wood" are molded on the chair back. The plaque inserted into the back of the seat contains molded Winnie the Pooh and Tigger characters.

      The seats were made in China. They were sold at mass and specialty retailers nationwide from April 2006 through August 2007 for between $20 and $25.

      Consumers should keep these recalled items away from young children and should contact RC2 to receive a permanent clear protective cover that covers the plaque. The unit can still be used as a potty seat.

      Pier 1 Imports is recalling about 180,000 orange and red glassware pieces. The glassware can crack or break unexpectedly, posing a laceration hazard.

      Pier 1 Imports has received 17 reports of glassware that cracked or broke. One injury involving minor cuts from broken glass has been reported.

      The recalled glassware pieces involve large and small tumblers, goblets and margaritas. The bottom half of the tumblers is red and the top half is orange. The bottom of the margaritas and the goblets is clear and the top is red and orange.

      The glassware sold by Pier 1 Imports stores nationwide, on its Web site, and in their April 2007 catalog from January 2007 through April 2007 for about $6 each.

      Consumers should stop using the glassware pieces immediately and return them to their nearest Pier 1 Imports retail store for a refund or merchandise credit.

      SportsPlay Equipment Inc. is recalling about 540 playground sets. The handrails and posts on the playground contain high levels of lead paint. Lead can be toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recall involves the Tot Town Fun Center, Tot Town Castle Fun Center, Tea Cup Merry Go Round, 8 Web Climber, Rope Wall, Four Panel Circular Aztec Climber and Three Panel Aztec Climber.

      The playground sets, made in Turkey, were sold by authorized SportsPlay dealers nationwide from January 2003 through December 2007 for between $1,300 and $5,500.

      Consumers should stop using the playground immediately if the painted parts have chipped off. Consumers with the recalled playgrounds have been directly contacted regarding this recall and will receive free replacement parts.

      Nike Recalls Football Helmet Chin Straps

      Nike is recalling about 235,000 football helmet chin straps.

      The chin straps plastic cup can break as a result of contact, exposing the player to facial or head injuries.

      Nike has received 18 reports of the chin strap breaking, including two reports of concussions, two reports of facial lacerations requiring stitches, and a report of a broken nose.

      The recalled football helmet chin strap consists of a plastic cup with a foam liner, straps and four metal snaps. They were sold in both youth and adult sizes and come in black/gray and white/gray color combinations.

      The Nike Swoosh trademark is printed on the outside of the chin cup and DRI-FIT is printed on the foam liner. Made in China and one of the following four style numbers is printed on the inside of the strap: FA0016 046, FA0016 130, FA0021 046, or FA0021 130.

      The straps were sold at sporting good stores nationwide and on the firms Web site from April 2006 through October 2007 for about $20.

      Consumers should stop using the chin strap immediately and contact Nike for a product voucher redeemable at www.nikestore.com
