    Fisher-Price Recalls Kitchen Toys

    Fisher-Price is recalling about 155,000 "Laugh & Learn" kitchen toys because they prsent a choking hazard to infants.

    There have been 48 reports of small parts separating from the toys, including two reports of children gagging on pieces, one report of a child who started choking on a piece and one report of a child who choked on a piece.

    The recall involves a play kitchen learning toy with a pretend refrigerator, range and sink. The product's item number L5067 is stamped in several locations on the toy and printed on the product's packaging above the UPC.

    The toys were sold at various retail and toy specialty stores nationwide from May 2007 through October 2007 for about $70. They were made in Mexico.

    Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact Fisher-Price for a free repair kit.

    Formula Brake USA Recalls Oro Bicycle Disc Brakes

    Formula Brake USA is recalling Oro bicycle disc brakes.

    The brakes hand lever can separate, resulting in loss of braking. This can cause the rider to lose control of the bicycle, posing a risk of injury to riders.

    Formula Brake USA has received six reports of hand levers detaching. No injuries have been reported.

    This recall involves Oro disk brakes typically installed on mountain bikes. The brake is operated by a hand lever, which is mounted to the handlebar. Included in the recall are the Oro K18, Oro K24, Oro Puro and Oro Bianco models with serial numbers less than 295237. The serial number can be located on the brakes body above the Made in Italy label.

    The brakes were sold at bicycle specialty stores nationwide from May 2005 through July 2007 for between $180 and $320.

    They were manufactured in Italy.

    Consumers should stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled brakes and contact any Formula Brake dealer to receive a free repair.

    Hobby Lobby Recalls Leather Butterfly Chairs

    Hobby Lobby is recalling about 500 leather butterfly chairs. The chair legs can detach unexpectedly causing the chair to collapse, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

    Hobby Lobby Stores has received nine reports of the chairs collapsing, resulting in minor injuries including contusions.

    This recall involves brown leather butterfly chairs with copper tubing legs. The leather seat has stitching similar to baseball stitching. Item# MI-1007 and PO#9073513 are printed on the front of the hang tag.

    The chairs, made in India, were sold at Hobby Lobby Stores nationwide from February 2009 through April 2009 for about $200.

    Consumers should immediately stop using the chairs and return them to the nearest Hobby Lobby for a full refund or exchange card.

      Toys 'R' Us Recalls Elite Operations Toys

      Toys "R" Us is recalling "Elite Operations" toy sets. Surface coatings on the toys contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recall involves four military-style Elite Operations toys, including Super Rigs (#1004), Command Patrol Center (#1020), Barracuda Helicopter (#1023), and 3 Pack 8-inch Figures (#1024). The product number is located on the toys packaging.

      The toys were sold at R Us stores nationwide and toysrus.com from July 2007 through October 2007 for between $10 and $30. No other Elite Operations brand military play sets are included in this recall.

      They were made in Manufactured in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the toys away from children, and return them to any Toys R Us for a full refund or store credit.

      Game Pieces Sold with 'Cars' Backpacks Recalled

      About 110,000 game pieces sold with "Cars" backpacks are being recalled by Global Design Concepts.

      Small magnets inside the four game pieces that were sold with the "Cars" backpack can fall out of their plastic enclosure. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be fatal.

      The firm has received three reports of a magnet that became loose. No injuries have been reported.

      The 12 inch Cars Backpack was sold with four sealed game pieces that contain magnets. The game pieces included a red plastic car; a blue plastic car; and two red and black plastic disks that have GAS, OIL and SERVICE printed in red letters on the black perimeter of the disks. Warning: Choking Hazard-Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years is printed on the backpack hangtag. Disney Presents a PIXAR film is printed on the gray vinyl front of the backpack.

      The backpacks were sold at Target stores nationwide from February 2007 through September 2007 for about $13. They were made in China.

      Guidecraft Inc. Recalls Childrens Puppet Theaters

      Guidecraft Inc. is recalling children's tabletop puppet theaters. Surface paints on the puppet theaters wooden panels contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recalled puppet theater has red panels on the front and sides and a chalkboard signboard on top. The puppet theater measures about 24-inches in length, 6-inches in width and about 28-inches in height.

      The theaters were sold at specialty toy stores, gift shops, catalogs and Web sites nationwide from June 2006 through August 2007 for about $35. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled puppet theaters away from children and contact Guidecraft to receive a replacement theater or another product of equal value.

      Ridgid Recalls Table Saws Sold at Home Depot

      Ten-inch Ridgid table saws sold at Home Depot are being recalled. The table saws arbor shaft can fail when used with a stacked blade set (commonly known as a stacked dado set), which is used to cut grooves. The stacked blade set can be ejected from the saw, posing a potential laceration hazard to consumers.

      One World Technologies, the manufacturer, has received three reports of shafts failing when used with a stacked dado set. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Ridgid 10-inch table saws, model R4511. The recalled saws have manufacturing date codes between CD0829 and CD0837. The model number and manufacturing date code are located on a metal plate on the rear of the cabinet. Products with an Arbor Inspected sticker directly above the plate or an orange square on the outside of the package are not included in the recall.

      The saws, made in China, were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide from January 2009 through July 2009 for about $600.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled table saw and contact One World Technologies to schedule a free on-site repair.

      Kaplan Recalls Baby Hammocks

      Kaplan Early Learning is recalling about 200 La Siesta Yayita baby hammocks. The hammock can flip over, posing a serious fall hazard and strangulation hazard to infants who become entrapped in the seats restraint straps while upside down.

      The recalled baby hammock is a cream-colored canvas and hangs from a wooden pole. The hammock measures about 29 x 43 inches. It has three restraint straps with red buckles and is attached to a cushioned pad for the infant. A mounting fixture, also called a fixing set, is sold with the hammock. La Siesta is printed on a tag located below the restraint straps. Model number YABP-1 is printed on a white tag sewn into the hammocks side seam.

      The hammocks, made in Colombia, were sold by Kaplans 2005-2007 Infant, Toddlers & Two (ITT) catalog and online at www.kaplanco.com from July 2005 through August 2008 for about $100.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the baby hammock and contact Kaplan to receive a full credit toward the purchase of another product. The firm has contacted all known purchasers of this product.

      Electra Recalls Bicycles with Front Trays

      Electra Bicycle Company is recalling about 3,000 bicycles equipped with front trays. The tray can come loose and contact the front tire, posing a fall hazard to riders.

      Electra Bicycle has received four reports of the front tray coming loose, including one incident that resulted in minor cuts and bruises.

      This recall involves the following Electra 2009 model bicycles: Delivery 3i, Delivery 8D, Holiday 3i and Surf 3i. Bicycles with trays connected to the fork crown with a bolt passing fully through the tab are not included in the recall.

      The recalled models were sold by authorized Electra Bicycle dealers nationwide from October 2008 through February 2009 for between $600 and $750. They were made in Taiwan.

      Consumers should immediately stop riding these bicycles and contact an Electra Bicycle dealer for a free inspection and repair.

      Sky Rangers Remote Control Airplanes Recalled

      About 21,000 Sky Rangers Park Flyer radio control airplanes are being recalled.

      The airplanes are launched by hand and can explode near the consumers head, posing a risk of temporary hearing loss and injuries to eyes, face and hands.

      Estes-Cox Corp. has received 45 reports of airplanes exploding, including 22 reports of consumers experiencing temporary ear pain or hearing being affected; five reports of minor burns to hands, faces or eyes; two reports of chest impact from debris; two reports of eye injuries; and one report of a cut hand. One consumer sought medical attention for burning eyes.

      This recall involves Model 4116 Sky Rangers Park Flyer radio control airplanes, which come with a black battery charger. The airplanes have a wingspan of about 14 inches, a light blue, white and orange polystyrene foam fuselage, and a copper coil on the rudder. Airplanes with a warning sticker on the fuselage near the on/off switch are not included in the recall.

      The airplanes were sold at hobby stores and other retailers nationwide from September 2005 through December 2006 for between $20 and $40.

      They were manufactured in China.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled airplanes immediately and contact Estes-Cox to verify that their plane is being recalled and for instructions on returning the airplane for a replacement product.

      Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling about 7,000 Mazda3 vehicles to fix a problem with the electronic stability control.

      Shindaiwa Backpack Blowers Recalled

      August 24, 2007
      Shindaiwa Inc. is recalling about 22,000 backpack blowers because of a fire hazard.

      The mufflers outer shell can melt allowing exhaust gas to exit from the bottom or back side of the muffler. The exhaust gas may cause damage to the fuel tank creating a possible fire hazard for the user.

      Shindaiwa is aware of one incident where a small muffler fire was involved with no property damage and no injuries.

      This recall involves Shindaiwa Models EB630 and EB630RT. All models up to serial #7025018 are included. After serial number 7025018, the leaf blower has been upgraded with stainless steel muffler shells. The backpack blowers weight approximately 24 pounds and include Serial Numbers through February 2007 production (S/N 702XXXX) which are located on the side label. These machines are blue with a red label that reads, Shindaiwa.

      The blowers were sold by Shindaiwa dealers nationwide from September 2005 through May 2007 for about $600. They were manufactured in Japan.

      Consumers should stop using the backpack blowers immediately and contact Shindaiwa for the closest dealer location to schedule a free muffler replacement. Consumers who have registered their equipment should have already received correspondence from Shindaiwa about this recall.

      Baja Motorsports Recalls Youth ATVs

      Baja Motorsports is recalling 16,000 ATVs because they lack a tire-pressure gauge and flag-pole mounting bracket, which could pose a risk of injury to riders.

      The recalled youth ATVs include the Baja 90, Baja Wilderness 90 and Baja Wilderness 90u. The ATVs came in blue, green, red and camouflage and Baja is written on the side of each gas tank.

      They were sold at retail outlets, ATV dealerships and online nationwide from November 2004 through July 2007 for about $1000.

      Owners should contact Baja Motorsports to receive a free tire pressure gauge and flag pole mounting bracket. Registered owners will be notified directly about this recall by mail.

      d-Scan Bunk Beds Recalled

      d-Scan is recalling about 500 Jubee bunk beds because they do not comply with federal safety standards and have wooden side slat supports that can separate from the bed frame, causing the upper bunk to collapse.

      The firm is aware of seven incidents in which the upper bunk collapsed after the side slat supports separated from the bunk beds frame. No injuries have been reported.

      The twin bunk beds are designed for children and were sold in a kit to be assembled by consumers. Only model number 82008 is included in this recall. The bunk beds are made of maple wood with a four-step ladder attached to the side and three pullout drawers under the bottom bunk. These bunk beds have no markings or labeling.

      They were sold at specialty furniture stores nationwide and on various Web sites from December 2004 through April 2006 for about $600.

      The beds were manufactured in Denmark.

      Consumers who have not already received and installed a free repair kit for the side slat supports should immediately stop using the bunk beds until repairs can be made. Contact the firm to receive a free repair kit that can easily be installed at home. Retailers have contacted some consumers who purchased the bunk beds directly.

      d-Scan Bunk Beds Recalled...

      Char-Broil Two-Burner Gas Grills

      Char-Broil is recalling two-burner gas grills sold at Big Lots stores.

      The recalled grills could have an incorrect heat shield that does not fit the grills. Without the correct heat shield, the propane tank, hose, and regulator could overheat and damage these components, presenting a risk of fire and burn to consumers, if a propane leak occurs.

      Only Char-Broil gas grills with model number 463720407 are included in the recall. This is a two-burner 360 square inch cooking surface gas grill with a 170 square inch swing-away rack, two side shelves and a condiment basket. Char-Broil's logo is on the top of the lid of the grill. The serial number is located on the white rating label on the back of the upper front panel of the grill. The serial numbers range from G305040611002821 to G305040611003420.

      The grills were sold at Big Lots stores nationwide from January 2007 through March 2007 for about $115 and $130.

      Consumers should inspect their grill to determine whether the heat shield is properly installed. If the heat shield is missing or cannot be installed per instructions, stop using the grill and immediately contact Char-Broil. Char-Broil will send the consumer, free of charge, the correct heat shield and installation instructions.

      Empire Silver Teething Rings Recalled

      Empire sterling silver teething rings are being recalled. The silver ball that holds the ring in place can separate and release the beads inside. This poses a choking and aspiration hazard to infants.

      The recalled sterling silver teething rings were sold in three styles: single ring with ball, single ring with heart and ball, and three rings with ball. The hollow ring has small beads inside that make a rattling sound and a ball soldered between the rings.

      The teething rings were sold at independent jewelry, gift, specialty and department stores nationwide during November 2007 for between $50 and $120. They were in the U.S.

      Consumers should immediately take the teething rings from infants and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund or replacement.

      Nordstrom Children's Jackets Recalled

      Nordstrom is recalling about 1,900 Pine Peak Blues children's jackets. The zipper pull can detach from the jackets zipper, posing a choking hazard to young children.

      Nordstrom has received one report of the zipper pull detaching. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled jackets were sold in infant, toddler and youth sizes. They are navy-colored and long-sleeved. They have a zipper-front with the flag of England embroidered on the left shoulder and an England patch on the left chest. There are two zipper front pockets in addition to the zipper front. Pine Peak Blues is printed on a label inside the jacket.

      The jackets were sold at Nordstrom stores from November 2006 through April 2007 for about $35.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled jacket away from children and return it to any Nordstrom store for a full refund.

      X-15 Model Rockets Recalled

      Estes-Cox Corp., of Penrose, Colo. is recalling about 80,000 of its X-15 Flying Model Rockets.

      The model rockets side or engine retainer ring can separate and cause the rocket to fall without the nose cone separating and the parachute deploying, posing a risk of an impact injury to nearby consumers.

      Estes-Cox has received seven reports of the side or engine retainer ring separating and the nose and parachute failing to release and 25 reports of the retainer ring being lost during flight, including one report that a consumer was struck in the arm, requiring surgery.

      This recall involves the X-15 flying model rocket, a 1:44 scale version of the North American Aviation hypersonic rocket plane. The model rockets are about 13.5-inches long and have a wingspan of about 5 inches. The rockets are black and yellow, and have the number 66670 on the tail.

      The rockets were sold individually (item #1890) and as part of a starter kit (item #1412). The item number is printed on the products instruction sheet and above the bar code on the products packaging.

      The rockets were sold at hobby stores and other retailers nationwide from June 2005 through July 2007 for between $16 and $36. They were made in China.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled rockets immediately and contact Estes-Cox for instructions on receiving a replacement product.

      Jo-Ann Stores Expands Recall of Children's Toy Garden Tools

      Jo-Ann Stores is expanding its recall of children's toy garden tools. Surface paint on the handle of the toy gardening tools can contain excessive levels of lead paint, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      This recall involves the Robbie Ducky children's leaf rake, hoe, broom and spade. 'Robbie Ducky Garden Collection' is printed on a tag attached to the handle. The rake has a yellow handle with the head of a tortoise and green prongs.

      The hoe has an orange handle with a caterpillar and a blue blade. The broom has a purple handle with a duck and an orange brush. The spade has a yellow handle with the head of a frog and a red blade. The tools measure between 27 and 29 inches long.

      The toys were sold at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores nationwide from January 2007 through September 2007 for about $7. They were made in China.
