    Felt Mountain Bicycles Recalled for Brake Failure

    About 700 Felt Mountain Bicycles are being recalled because of possible brake failure.

    The steel brake boss can detach from the frame, causing the rider to lose control and fall.

    Felt Bicycles has received three reports of the brake boss coming loose. No injuries reported.

    This recall involves all model year 2005 and 2006 Kinesis made RXC bicycles. The frames on these bicycles are made with carbon fiber rear seat stays and are equipped with V-style brakes, and not equipped with disk brakes from the factory. Frames affected by this recall were shipped to dealers between October 2004 and April 2006.

    The bikes were sold at bicycle specialty stores nationwide from October 2004 through April 2006 for between $1,050 and $5,000.

    Consumers should stop using the bicycles immediately and contact your local Felt bicycle dealer to receive a free inspection and repair.

    Tony Hawk Boy's Pajama Sets Recalled

    Mad Dog Concepts is recalling about 25,000 pairs of Tony Hawk boy's pajamas. This sleepwear fails to meet the federal children's sleepwear flammability standard, and poses a risk of burn injury to children.

    The recall involves the following skateboard-themed boy's pajama sets: 'Boards Estate' (item # TH005LSB), 'Heathen Skull' (item #TH006BSB), 'Backspray' (item #TH007GSB) and 'Stix Jester' (item #TH008RSB). The name of the product and item number are sewn in the neck and pant. The items were sold in sizes 4 to 14.

    The pajamas, made in Cambodia, were sold at Kohl's Department Stores nationwide from September 2008 through October 2008 for about $30.

    Consumers should stop using the recalled pajamas immediately and contact the firm for instructions on obtaining a full refund.

    Seattle Cotton Works Hooded Sweatshirts Sold at Kohls

    Seattle Cotton Works is recalling about 40,000 hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings that were sold at Kohl's from January 2009 through February 2009 for about $17.

    The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood that can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, the CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets or sweatshirts.

    The hooded, long sleeve sweatshirts have full-length zippers and drawstrings along the neck line. The products are sold under the Seattle Cotton Works brand in six different designs. The styles are set forth in the image below. The name, 'Seattle Cotton Works' appears along the inside neck line. They were made in Pakistan.

    Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or call the manufacturer to arrange for a full refund.

      Home Depot Recalls Patio Umbrellas

      Home Depot is recalling patio umbrellas that could tip over and strike consumers.

      Home Depot has received one report of a recalled patio umbrella tipping over and breaking. No injuries have been reported.

      The patio umbrellas are beige with a brown offset pole. They stand 11 feet tall. The base is a brown cross about 18 inches long.

      The umbrellas, made in China, were sold at The Home Depot stores nationwide from January 2009 through February 2009 for about $250.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled patio umbrellas and return them to any Home Depot store for a full refund.

      Oceanic Digital Dive Computers Recalled

      June 23, 2006
      Oceanic's Versa Pro 2A Digital Dive Computer is being recalled because of the danger of decompression.

      When using the dive computer set for "User Selected Digital Gauge Mode," the "Elapsed Dive Time" displayed can exceed the actual elapsed time under water. This can cause divers to ascend before fulfilling a decompression obligation, resulting in decompression sickness.

      Oceanic has received one report of the dive computers malfunctioning. No injuries have been reported.

      The recall involves Oceanic-brand Versa Pro 2A dive computers with serial numbers 12000 through 18176 which can be accessed and viewed on the computers display. The serial number and "r2A" are printed on the side of the unit. This recall does not include any other Oceanic brand dive computer, or Versa Pro 2A while operated in normal decompression dive computer mode.

      Authorized Oceanic dealers sold Versa Pro 2A digital dive computers nationwide from March 2003 through April 2006 for between $430 and $640.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled digital dive computers and take them to any Authorized Oceanic Dealer to get a free replacement Versa Pro 2B.

      Wal-Mart Recalls Minnie Mouse Cardigan Sets

      Wal-Mart is recalling Minnie Mouse Cardigan Sets sold in its stores. If the cardigan is buttoned, the ribbon woven around the neckline poses a strangulation hazard for children.

      The pink cardigan is sold as part of a three-piece set which also includes a light pink turtleneck and denim pants. The cardigan has a pink ribbon woven around the neckline. Minnie Mouse is embroidered on the lower left front of the cardigan. The cardigan was sold in sizes 12M, 18M, 24M, 3T, 4T, and 5T.

      The sets were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from July 2006 through August 2006 for about $15.

      Consumers should take the recalled cardigan away from children immediately and return the entire three-piece set to Wal-Mart for a full refund.

      Kidde Recalls Dual-Sensor Smoke Alarms

      Kidde is recalling about 94,000 Model PI2000 dual-sensor smoke alarms. An electrostatic discharge can damage the unit, causing it not to warn consumers of a fire.

      The firm has received two reported incidents of smoke alarm malfunctions involving electrostatic discharge during installation. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Kidde dual sensor smoke alarms model PI2000. The alarms can be identified by two buttons, HUSH and PUSH AND HOLD TO TEST WEEKLY, which are located on the front/center of the alarm. The model number and date code are on the back of the smoke alarm. Only date codes 2008 Aug.01 through 2009 May 04 are included in this recall.

      The alarms, made in China, were sold at retail, department, and hardware stores and through electrical distributors nationwide from August 2008 through May 2009 for between $30 and $40.

      Consumers should contact Kidde immediately to receive a free replacement smoke alarm.

      Carbon Bicycle Stems Recalled

      June 23, 2006
      Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. is recalling about 2,700 bicycle equipped with the "SW Carbon Stem with Magnesium Faceplate."

      The bicycle's stem has a magnesium faceplate that holds the handlebar in place. The faceplates on the recalled stems can crack allowing the handlebar to break off the bicycle, posing a serious fall hazard.

      Specialized has received five reports of the magnesium faceplate exhibiting cracks. No injuries have been reported.

      The SW Carbon Stem with Magnesium Faceplate is black with the words "S-Works" and "Magnesium Faceplate" printed on it. The stems were included as original equipment on the following 2006 bicycles models: S-Works Tarmac, Tarmac Pro, S-Works Roubaix, Roubaix Pro, Allez Pro and S-Works Transition. It was also sold as an after-market item under the name S-Works Advanced Composite Mag Road Stem.

      The item was sold at authorized Specialized retailers from June 2005 through April 2006 as original equipment of the bicycle models referenced above or as an after market item for about $160.

      Consumers should stop riding the bicycles that have the recalled stems immediately and take them to an authorized Specialized retailer for a free replacement faceplate.

      Folding Picnic Tables Recalled

      Atico International USA is recalling more than 200,000 folding picnic tables. The legs on the picnic table can buckle or break during use, causing the table to collapse or fold unexpectedly.

      There have been 26 reports of the tables collapsing, including 18 reports of injuries including a broken foot and muscle strains.

      The recalled picnic tables have a GREEN plastic top, four GREEN plastic seats that are permanently attached, and silver/steel aluminum legs. Model numbers involved in this recall are W50B2268 and W50H0284. The model numbers are located on the packaging.

      The tables were sold at Family Dollar, Rite-Aid, Kerr Drug, Happy Harry's, Mays, Community Distributors, Farmacias El Amal, Eckerd, Snyder Drug, Navarro Discount Pharmacies, and Duane Reade stores nationwide from January 2001 through December 2005 for between $20 and $40.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the picnic tables and contact Atico for product verification and product return instructions. Consumers who return their table to Atico will receive a refund and up to $15 for return shipping by U.S. ground.

      Progress Lighting Recalls Recessed Lights

      December 29, 2006
      Progress Lighting Inc. is recalling about 12,000 trim assembly kits for recessed light fixtures. Heat from the light bulb can cause the fixture's plastic trim to soften and melt, causing the trim and lens to fall, possibly injuring those nearby.

      Progress Lighting has received four reports of the trims melting. No injuries have been reported.

      Trim assembly kits involved in this recall attach to recessed light fixtures installed primarily in bathroom ceilings. The trim assemblies include a 7 3/4-inch white plastic ring, a glass lens and a metal reflector. Affected models were made in China and have model numbers: 8009-60, 8010-60 or 8011-60.

      The model number and country of manufacture are located on a sticker attached to the inside and outside of the reflector. Models made in Mexico are not included this recall.

      The kits were sold by electrical and lighting distributors nationwide from July 2006 through December 2006 for between $9 and $27.

      Consumers should stop using the recessed light fixtures containing the recalled trim rings immediately and contact Progress Lighting to arrange for installation of a replacement trim ring.

      Steel Hammock Stand Sold at Lowe's Recalled

      June 13, 2006
      The "Garden Treasures" foldable steel hammock stand sold at Lowe's is being recalled. The welds attaching the arms to the frame of the hammock stand can fail, allowing the hammock to fall.

      Users can be injured from falling to the ground, striking the hammock stand's base, or being struck by the arms of the hammock stand.

      There have been three reports of the hammock stands breaking at the welds. Six people have reported injuries from falling, including a head laceration requiring stitches, bruises and neck and back pain.

      The recalled hammock stand is black steel, is foldable, and has two wheels. The item number, 226724, is printed on the box in which the hammock stand was sold, and on the instructions that were provided with the hammock stand.

      The hammocks were sold at Lowe's stores nationwide from December 2005 through March 2006 for about $100.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled hammock stands immediately and return them to any Lowe's store to receive a full refund.

      Dahon, REI Novara Folding Bicycles

      About 11,000 Dahon and REI Novara folding bicycles are being recalled. The hinge on the handlepost can crack, posing a fall hazard.

      There have been 25 reports of the handlepost hinge on these bicycles cracking, including one minor injury involving scrapes and bruises.

      This recall involves model year 2008 Dahon and REI Novara folding bicycles. The models included in the recall are as follows:

      DahonCiao P8, Curve D3, Curve SL, Glide P8, Jetstream P8, Mu P8,
      Mu P24, MU SL, Mu XL Sport, Vitesse D7 HG, Speed D7,
      Speed P8, Speed TR, Speed Pro TT, Mariner D7
      REINovara Buzz FlyBy and FlyBy Shuttle

      The words "Dahon" or "Novara" and the model name are printed on the bicycle. Hinges with an "R" embossed on the face of the upper handlepost hinge and/or a "Radius Handlepost" sticker on the handlepost are not included in the recall.

      The bicycles wre sold by authorized Dahon California dealers and REI stores nationwide from March 2008 through April 2009 for between $430 and $1,300. They were made in Taiwan and China.

      Consumers should immediately stop riding these bicycles and contact any Dahon California dealer or REI store for a free inspection and repair.

      Crane Recalls Whirlpool Bath Tubs

      June 23, 2009
      Crane Plumbing is recalling about 5,500 whirlpool bath tubs. The drain covers in the tubs can entangle a bathers hair in the openings, causing the bathers head to be held under water, which can result in drowning.

      The bathtubs are acrylic with 6-12 jets. The Crane logo is printed on the whirlpool and/or noted on the air control valve.

      The tubs were sold at home improvement, retail and wholesale stores nationwide from March 2007 through February 2009 for between $700 and $2,700.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tubs. Consumers can contact Crane for additional identification information on affected tubs. Consumers who have the recalled tub have two options:

      1. Contact Crane directly to arrange for a service agent to perform a free, in-person replacement in their home or facility; or
      2. Consumers can choose to replace the part themselves and Crane will provide them with a free repair kit and directions.

      About 730,000 metal charms sold with certain Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment DVDs are being recalled because they contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled silver-colored metal charms were included as a free giveaway in certain Shirley Temple movie DVDs in specially marked pink boxes. Some DVD boxes contain only charms. Others contain charm bracelets with charms. The charms come in various shapes including animals, hats, treble clefs, and lollipops.

      The DVD boxes are marked with "Bonus Charm Bracelet Inside," or "Bonus Charm Inside." Charms sold with the following DVD titles are included in this recall:

    • Curly Top
    • Heidi
    • Little Miss Broadway
    • Shirley Temple Collection Vol. 1 (with above three titles)
    • Baby Take a Bow
    • Bright Eyes
    • Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm
    • Shirley Temple Collection Vol. 2 (with above three titles)
    • Dimples
    • The Little Colonel
    • The Littlest Rebel
    • Shirley Temple Collection Vol. 3 (with above three titles)
    • The DVDs were sold at retail stores that sell DVDs, by Web retailers, and direct mail from August 2005 through April 2006 for about $15 for single DVDs and about $30 for gift box collections of three DVDs.

      Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled charms away from children and contact the firm for information on how to return the charms only, and to receive a free DVD.

      Shirley Temple DVD Charms...

      Black Diamond Speed Buckle Harnesses

      Black Diamond is recalling about 18,000 speed buckle harnesses used during mountain climbing. The harness could be threaded incorrectly. If threaded incorrectly, the webbing will easily slip when loaded. Incorrectly threaded buckles can loosen, which could cause climbers to slip out of the harness and fall.< />

      These Speed Buckle Harnesses were sold under the following model names: Gym Speed, Focus Speed, Momentum Speed, Vario Speed and Wiz Kid. The names can be found on a tag sewn inside the waist belt of the harnesses. The harnesses are various colors and were sold individually. Only Black Diamond Equipment Speed Buckle Harnesses with incorrectly threaded buckles are included in this recall.

      The harnesses were sold at rock climbing and mountaineering specialty shops nationwide from December 2005 through July 2006 for between $40 and $75.

      Black Diamond Speed Buckle Harnesses...

      Imported Chicken Bouillon Products Recalled

      March 14, 2009
      A Commerce City, Calif., firm — Kim Send Company — is recalling nearly 18,000 pounds of granulated chicken bouillon products that were ineligible for import to the U.S., the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.

      The granulated chicken bouillon products are being recalled because the products do not meet poultry products inspection or poultry exemption requirements. The foreign inspection system of the country where the poultry ingredients originated has not been deemed equivalent to that of the U.S.

      The problem was discovered after FSIS identified a shipment of products containing poultry which were imported from an unapproved source. The granulated chicken bouillon products were distributed to retail establishments nationwide. FSIS has received no reports of illness as a result of consuming this product.

      The products subject to recall include:

      • 16-ounce cans of "CALFARM BRAND Granulated Chicken Bouillon"
      • 16-ounce cans of "MAYLOR BRAND Granulated Chicken Bouillon."
      • 2.2-pound cans of "MAYLOR BRAND Granulated Chicken Bouillon."
      • 5-pound bags of "MAYLOR BRAND Granulated Chicken Bouillon."
      • 2.2-pound bags of "MAYLOR BRAND Granulated Chicken Bouillon."

      Imported Chicken Bouillon Products Recalled...

      Pilates Balls Recalled

      February 17, 2006
      abc distributing, LLC is recalling about 8,300 pilates balls. The plastic black clips at the end of the rubber tubing can come apart when in use.

      In addition, the grommet used to hold the black rubber tubing could separate from the nylon webbing. Consumers using the pilates balls could fall and be hit by pieces that separate.

      The firm has received one report of a minor injury.

      The inflatable pilates balls are blue with black handles. They are about 26-inches in diameter when inflated. They are sold with a blue air pump.

      The balls were sold by catalog and online sales nationwide from August 2005 through September 2005 for about $9.

      Consumers should immediately stop using these pilates balls and contact the firm to obtain instructions on how to receive free replacement handles. All consumers who purchased these pilates balls were notified directly about the recall.

      Pilates Balls Recalled...

      Target Recalls "Play Wonder" Puzzle Tables

      November 15, 2006
      Target is recalling "Play Wonder" puzzle tables. The handles on the puzzle pieces can come off, posing a choking hazard to young children. Also, the tips of the nails on the inside shelf of the puzzle table could be exposed, posing a laceration or puncture hazard.

      Target has received two reports of the pegs coming off of the puzzle pieces. In one of these reports, a child was found to be mouthing the pegs.

      This recall involves a "Play Wonder" brand puzzle table that contains three nine-piece wooden puzzles inside the table. They are light blue with paw prints painted across the top of the table. The table is about 13-inches high when assembled and has green sides. The "Play Wonder" logo is located in the front lower right corner of the packaging. Item number 204/12/0162 is located in the front upper right corner of the packaging.

      The puzzle tables were sold Target stores nationwide and on www.target.com from December 2005 through October 2006 for about $25.

      Consumers should take the products from children immediately and return the item to the nearest Target Store for a full refund.

      Target Recalls 'Play Wonder' Puzzle Tables...

      Sump Pump Battery Charger Recalled

      WASHINGTON, April 24, 2000 -- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sta-Rite Industries is voluntarily recalling about 29,000 battery chargers used in battery back-up sump pump systems.

      The battery chargers can overheat and ignite, melting the charger housing and posing a fire hazard.

      Sta-Rite has received seven reports of battery chargers overheating or catching fire. Four incidents have involved smoke or fire damage to homes, confined to the immediate area of the charger. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled battery chargers are used in the "Flotec" and "Sears" back- up sump pump systems. The sump pump system is used to remove water from homes that have basements. This recall involves the charger only, not the sump pump. Consumers can identify whether the sump pumps battery charger is being recalled by checking the sump pump system model number. The Flotec system is model number FP2000DCC-02 or 2P667B and the Sears system is model number 390.306062. The brand name and model number can be found on the pump model plate located on the pump. The part number on the charger is PS17-77 and can be found below the meter on the charger. Sta-Rite will help consumers determine if the battery charger is part of this recall.

      Large and small home centers, auto parts and plumbing supply stores, including Sears, W.W. Grainger, Advanced Auto Parts, Home Quarters, Home Depot, and Hechinger sold the sump pump systems nationwide from December 1994 through September 1997 for about $200.
