    OKK Recalls 'Formula 1' Toy Racing Cars

    OKK Trading Inc. is recalling about 2,000 'Formula 1' toy racing cars. Surface paint on the toy cars contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

    This recall involves toy racing cars that are operated with a remote control. The toy racing car comes with four additional tires and one remote control. Formula 1 is printed on the packaging. The cars were made in China.

    The toy cars were sold at retail dollar and discount stores nationwide from October 2007 through November 2007 for about $1.

    Consumers should immediately take this car away from children and return it to the store where purchased for a refund.

    "Action Baby" Infant Carriers Recalled

    Optave Inc. is recalling about 250 "Action Baby" infant carriers. The baby carriers chest strap can detach from the shoulder straps, posing a fall hazard to the baby.

    Optave Inc. has received two reports of the chest strap detaching from the shoulder straps on the baby carrier. No injuries have been reported.

    The recalled carriers were sold under the Action Baby Carrier brand name. The carriers are sold in various colors and patterns: blue, brown, green, "so square", "the larrisa" and "spring breeze."

    They were sold at specialty retail stores nationwide and Internet sites from May 2008 through June 2008 for between $80 and $90. The carriers were made in the United States.

    Consumers should immediately stop using the carrier in the positions that require the use of the chest strap and contact Optave to receive free replacement straps.

    Earthentree Recalls Wooden Toys

    Earthentree is recalling wooden toys. The toys contain small parts or can break into small parts, posing a choking hazard. The recalled rattles violate the federal rattle standard. Some of the toys also have a string longer than 12 inches, which can pose a strangulation hazard to young children.

    This recall involves a variety of wooden toys including egg shakers (maracas), pull toys, rattles, and trains. The toys are painted glossy red, orange, green, brown, yellow or natural wood.

      New England Ropes Recalls Climbing Lines

      New England Ropes is recalling its Maxim Apogee and Maxim Pinnacle Dynamic Climbing Lines/Ropes. The climbing lines can break, posing a serious fall hazard for climbers.

      Two types of climbing ropes have been included in this recall, the Maxim Apogee 9.1mm and Maxim Pinnacle 9.5mm. The Maxim Apogee 9.1mm is a 48 carrier climbing rope. The colors are yellow and black, and red and yellow. The model numbers are 3411-91 and 3415-91, with date codes 060801 thru 080601. The UPC codes are: 75396312299, 75396312298, 75396312301, and 75396312300. The Maxim Pinnacle 9.5mm is a blue 48 carrier climbing rope. The Model number is 3403-95, with date codes 070201 thru 080601. The UPC codes are 75396312292 and 75396312293. The date codes and the UPC codes are on the original packaging.

      The ropes were sold at retailers nationwide from August 2006 through June 2008 for between $180 and $262. They were made in the United States.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dynamic climbing lines and contact the manufacturer for a free replacement.

      The recalled toy is a package of four action figures. Each figure is about 5 3/4 inches high. The UPC number 604111230003 is printed on the products packaging.

      The toys wre sold at dollar stores and discount stores nationwide from January 2007 through December 2007 for about $1. They were made in China.

      Consumers should take the toy away from children immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

      Fairy Dust Pendants, Candle Charms Recalled

      About 57,000 Fairy Dust pendants and candle charms are being recalled. They contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled pewter pendants were sold in a collection of 12 pendants. The pendants were sold separately and on candles of various colors and scents.

      The items, made in Hong Kong, were sold at gift shops nationwide from February 2004 through February 2008 for between $6 and $8 for the pendants and between $12 and $15 for the charms with candles.

      Consumers should immediately stop using these pendants/charms and contact Benjamin International to receive a free replacement pendant/charm.

      Serene Float Tanks Recalled

      Brian Smith is recalling five Serene Float Tanks. Electrical components in the float tank are not grounded, which can prevent the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) from tripping when needed, posing an electrocution hazard to consumers.

      This recall involves Serene Float Tanks, a water tank that is light- and soundproof, temperature insulated and ventilated. The heated tanks are filled with water and a dissolvent that allows a person to float effortlessly.

      The tanks were sold via the Serene Float Tanks Web site between August 2007 and October 2007 for about $6,000. They were made in the United States.

      'Fun2Fly' Remote Control Helicopter Toys

      Soft Air USA is recalling about 30,000 'Fun2Fly' remote-controlled helicopter toys. The rechargeable battery contained inside the helicopter can catch fire during charging, igniting the helicopter and nearby combustible materials. This poses a burn or fire hazard to consumers.

      Soft Air USA has received six reports of helicopters igniting, including one minor injury.

      This recall involves the remote-controlled helicopter toy Fun2Fly Microcopter with item number 91001. The helicopter comes with a transmitter that controls and recharges the helicopter. The helicopter is made of foam and plastic and measures about 6 inches by 2 inches. The transmitter measures about 4 1/2 inches by 5 inches. Fun2Fly and Microcopter are printed on the packaging. The item number is printed above the UPC label.

      The helicopters were sold at sporting goods stores and other retailers nationwide from May 2007 through December 2007 for about $30. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled toy helicopter and return it to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund.

      Thane Steam Cleaners Recalled

      Thane is recalling about 134,000 H20 Portable Hand Held Steam Cleaners. Steam can escape from the handle and trigger of the steam cleaner, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

      Thane has received 27 reports of burn injuries to consumers hands and fingers.

      The recalled portable hand held steam cleaners are white and dark gray. H20 and M are printed on the steam cleaners. Model number YQ3888 and the produce code are printed on a label on the underside of the units. This recall only includes steam cleaners with produce codes from 071025 through 080324.

      The units were sold by television infomercials nationwide and at www.thane.com and shipped to consumers from December 2007 through May 2008. The steam cleaners were offered as a bonus item with the payment of shipping and handling of $14.95 with the purchase of an H20 Mop. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled steam cleaners and contact Thane to receive a $30 coupon for the purchase of another Thane product or to receive a free replacement steam cleaner. Thane has directly contacted consumers who received the steam cleaners.

      Sky Champion Toy Helicopters Recalled

      Remote-controlled helicopter toys sold at Walgreens are being recalled. The rechargeable battery contained inside the helicopter can catch fire, igniting the helicopter and nearby combustible materials. This poses a burn or fire hazard to consumers.

      There have been two reports of helicopters catching fire. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

      This recall involves the 'Sky Champion' wireless indoor helicopter. The helicopter comes with a transmitter that controls and recharges the helicopter. The helicopter is made of foam and plastic and measures about 7 inches by 3 inches. The transmitter measures about 6 inches by 4 inches. 'BH26047' is printed on the tail of the helicopter. 'WIC 551777' and the UPC code is 630990006005 are printed on the packaging.

      The toys were sold at Walgreens stores nationwide from June 2007 through November 2007 for about $20. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately stop playing with the recalled helicopters and contact TWIE, the distributor, for a full refund. Returns will be accepted by TWIE. Walgreens will not accept returns or provide a refund.

      Candela Recalls Candles Sold by Anthropologie Stores

      The Candela Group is recalling about 225 Anthropologie Tin Candles. The candle flames could flare up out of the tin container during the burning of the last half inch of wax, posing a fire and burn hazard.

      This recall involves Anthropologie tin candles. The candles were sold in the following four fragrances; Amber Woods - Model #14987044, Black Lilac - Model #14987093, Figue Tree - Model #14987085 and Red Currant Model #14987051. Candles sold after October 11, 2008 are not affected by this recall.

      The candles were sold by Anthropologie stores nationwide from September 2008 through October 2008 about $20. They were made in the United States.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tin candles and call Candela for a self-addressed, postage paid envelope in which to return the candle for a full refund.

      FlagHouse Recalls Baby Hammocks

      FlagHouse Inc. is recalling about 100 Yayita baby hammocks. The hammock can flip over, posing a serious fall hazard and strangulation hazard to infants who get entrapped in the seats restraint straps while upside down.

      FlagHouse has received one report of an incident in which the hammock flipped over entrapping a 7 month old boy in the restraint straps. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled baby hammock is cream-colored canvas and hangs from a wooden pole. The hammock measures about 29 x 43 inches. It has three restraint straps with red buckles and is attached to a cushioned pad for the infant. A mounting fixture, also called a fixing set, is sold with the hammock. La Siesta is printed on a tag located below the restraint straps. Model number YABP-1 is printed on a white tag sewn into the hammocks side seam.

      The hammocks, made in Colombia, were sold by FlagHouse Inc.s catalog, and online at www.flaghouse.com, and at BJ Wholesale Clubs Web site, www.bjs.com, from September 2007 through August 2008 for about $90.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the baby hammock and contact FlagHouse to receive a full refund, or credit toward the purchase of another product.

      FlagHouse Recalls Baby Hammocks...

      Magtastik, Magnetix Jr. Magnetic Toys

      MEGA Brands is recalling about 1.1 million Magtastik and Magnetix Jr. pre-school magnetic toys.

      Magnets in the small flexible parts of the animals, vehicles and building sets can detach. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.

      MEGA Brands and CPSC have received 19 reports of magnets coming loose, including one report of a 3-year-old boy receiving medical treatment to remove a magnet from his nasal cavity and one report of an 18-month-old boy with a magnet in his mouth, which was not swallowed.

      The Magtastik and Magnetix Jr. Pre-school Magnetic Toys include small flexible parts embedded with magnets that allow the parts to connect to large, colored metal balls.

      Dollar Tree Recalls Glue Guns

      Dollar Tree is recalling about 470,000 Crafters Square Hot Melt mini glue guns. The recalled glue guns can short circuit, causing the gun to smoke. This poses a fire hazard to consumers.

      Dollar Tree is aware of four incidents in which these glue guns short circuited. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the 'Crafters Square Hot Melt Mini Glue Gun' with product number '939701'. The gun dispenses hot glue and is intended for craft projects. The glue gun is black with an orange trigger and measures approximately 4 1/2 inches from the back of the gun to the tip. It has a 44-inch electrical cord attached. 'Crafters Square' and '939701' are located on the guns' packaging. 'DS-010 Glue Gun' is written in raised letters on the handle of the gun.

      The glue guns, made in China, were sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Dollar Express, Greenbacks, Only One $1, and Deal$ stores nationwide from December 2007 through March 2008 for about $1.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled glue guns and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.

      Baby Appleseed Recalls Cribs Due to Fall Hazard

      Baby Appleseed is recalling about 500 Davenport cribs.

      The cribs fail to meet the federal safety standards for cribs. The cribs have a two mattress support system. The secondary mattress support, used for the lowest position, does not meet the full 26 inch minimum height in its lowest position, allowing children inside to crawl over the railing, posing a fall hazard.

      The recall includes Davenport crib models that begin with the model numbers 273-xxxx-xxxx and have manufacture dates on or before August 2007 printed on a label located on the right side of the lower inner panel of the crib. The recalled cribs have two mattress support systems-a metal one and a wooden one. Newer Davenport cribs with model numbers beginning with 244-xxxx-xxxx that have one mattress support are not included in the recall.

      The cribs were sold nationwide from December 2006 through September 2007 for between $600 and $800. They were made in Vietnam.

      Consumers should stop using the recalled cribs in the third lowest position, which uses the wooden mattress support, and contact Baby Appleseed to receive a repair kit. Consumers who are currently using the crib with the metal mattress support in the top or middle positions can continue to use the crib in those positions while awaiting a repair kit. (NOTE: Repair Kits will be available from the firm in mid-August 2008)

      Request Jeans Recalls Hooded Sweatshirts

      Request Jeans is recalling about 1,200 hooded sweatshirts. The hoodies have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.

      This recall involves the short sleeve hoodie (Item number 11188SG) and the Long sleeve hoodie (Item number 11218LG). The short sleeve hoodie has Request printed all over and was sold in olive green and light blue. The long sleeve hoodie has a butterfly design on the back of the hoodie and on the chest and was sold in white and olive green.

      The hoodies, made in China, were sold nationwide from January 2007 through March 2007 for about $36.

      Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or return the garment to either the place of purchase or to Request Jeans to receive a refund.

      Gotham Lighting Fluorescent Downlights Recalled

      Gotham Lighting is recalling about 30,000 fluorescent downlights intended for use as recessed ceiling lights.

      The relay on the backup battery of the lights could be programmed incorrectly and prevent the lights from functioning in an emergency.

      Only Gotham Compact Fluorescent Downlights sold with the optional backup battery pack are included in the recall. The lights are recessed ceiling lights that were manufactured between November 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008.

      The lights, made in the U.S. and China, were sold by electrical distributors and sales representatives nationwide from November 2007 through July 2008 for between $250 and $350.

      Consumers should inspect the fixtures immediately and contact Gotham Lighting to receive a repair for the light fixture.

      Gardner Bender Wire Splices Recalled

      August 20, 2008
      Gardner Bender is recalling about 53,000 electrical wire splices, also known as butt splice connectors.

      The splice can fail to hold the wires adequately together, posing a shock and fire hazard to consumers.

      Gardner Bender has received one report of a recalled butt splice failing to hold wires together. No injuries have been reported.

      The recalled butt splices are used to connect electrical wires to one another. They are typically used for wiring small electrical appliances, like audio equipment, or in automotive applications. The splices are yellow insulated vinyl and measure about one inch long and inch wide. They were intended for use with 12-10 AWG wire. 12-10 is stamped on the side of the splices. Model numbers 10-126, or 21-126, and Gardner Bender are printed on the products packaging. They were sold in packages of 8 or 50.

      The splices, made in the U.S., were sold at electrical distributors, hardware stores, and home centers nationwide from June 2005 through April 2008 for between $1 and $5.

      Consumers should immediately stop using products that contain the recalled butt splices and contact the firm for free replacement splices.

      Habermaass Corp. is recalling about 118,000 wooden toys, rattles, puzzles, pacifier holders and stroller toys.

      The wooden rattles, pacifier holders, and stroller toys contain small pieces including glued on mirrors and/or prisms that can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants. The head of the ladybug puzzle pieces also poses a choking hazard.

      Habermaass Corp. has received 15 reports of incidents involving the recalled puzzles, rattles, and pacifier holders including pieces of the rattles detaching and being mouthed by young children.

      The puzzles, rattle toys, pacifier holders, and stroller toys are wooden and are described in the chart below. HABA is printed on them.

      The toys, made in Germany, were sold at specialty toy stores nationwide and at specialty online retailers from January 2002 through August 2008 for between $10 and $35.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled puzzles, rattles, pacifier holders and stroller toys away from children and contact Habermaass to receive a free replacement product or a full refund.

      Razor USA Recalls PowerWing Three-Wheeled Scooters

      Razor USA is recalling about 103,000 PowerWing™ Three-Wheeled Scooters. The undersides of the foot platforms can have sharp edges, posing a laceration hazard to children.

      Razor has received 10 reports of Achilles tendon or ankle lacerations, including four consumers who required tendon surgery and three who needed stitches.

      The PowerWing is a three-wheeled scooter, which was sold in either black or silver. The recall includes products with serial numbers beginning with:

      The serial number is located on the bottom of the scooter near the front wheel. Products with an oval sticker next to the serial number with a 'V' followed by any letter (example VE, VF, VG, etc.) are not included in the recall.

      The scooters, made in China, were sold by authorized retailers nationwide and online from October 2007 through September 2008 for about $100.

      Parents should immediately stop children from using the product. Do not return the product to retailers. Contact Razor for a set of free replacement foot platforms.
