    QVC 'Cook's Essential' Four-Slice Toasters Recalled

    Salton Inc. and QVC are recalling about 5,200 "Cooks Essential" four-slice toasters. The toaster can turn on without bread in the slots and ignite items placed on top of it, posing a fire hazard.

    QVC has received information that ten toasters reportedly turned on spontaneously, including one incident of fire damage to kitchen cabinets and two incidents of toaster covers burned. No injuries have been reported.

    This recall involves the Cooks Essential four-slice wide slot electric toasters model CET 401. These toasters are made of stainless steel and measure 12 inches long, 13 inches wide and 8 inches high. Each toaster has Cooks Essentials Classic Look Toaster, Model: CET401 printed on a plate located on the underside of the toaster.

    The toasters were sold by QVC through its television station, its Web page; its toll-free number, outlet, and its employee and Studio stores from January 2003 through June 2003 for between $63 and $69 plus about $8 for shipping and handling. Some recalled toasters may have been sold at various retailers.

    They were made in China.

    Consumers should stop using the toaster immediately, unplug it, and cut off the power cord where it enters the body of the toaster. Consumers who return the power cord in the prepaid envelope that will be provided will receive a full refund.

    Consumer Contact: Consumers who bought a toaster from a QVCs television program or at QVC.com were sent a package by mail containing information on how to receive a refund.     Consumers who bought a toaster at a QVC outlet or retail store should return the toaster at the store where it was purchased to receive a full refund.     ROMI Recalls SCUBA Regulators

    ROMI Enterprises is recalling about 6,000 Oceanic and AERIS SCUBA regulators. An internal component that seals air between the high pressure first-stage and the intermediate pressure second-stage can fail. This can result in uncontrolled flow of air to the diver and pose a risk of serious injury or death.

    ROMI has received two reports of units malfunctioning during diving and six reports of units malfunctioning while being tested by dealers prior to delivery to consumers. No injuries reported.

    The items were either sold or repaired at authorized Oceanic and AERIS retailers nationwide from May 2006 through October 2007. The items sold for between $300 and $500. They were made in the U.S. and in Taiwan.

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled regulator first stages and take them to any authorized Oceanic or AERIS dealer for a free replacement part.

    Children's Turquoise Rings

    About 300,000 children's turquoise rings distributed by Cardinal Distributing are being recalled due to a lead poisoning hazard.

    The silver-colored rings have a round turquoise-colored stone on top. The stone is surrounded by a band of small silver-colored balls.

    The rings were sold in vending machines located in malls, discount, department and grocery stores in the Baltimore, Maryland area from August 2002 through April 2007 for 25 cents.

    Consumers should immediately take the recalled rings away from children and throw them away.

      CVS Recalls Playskool Sippy Cups

      CVS/pharmacy is recalling about 84,000 Playskool Toddler NoSpill Sippy Cups,

      Young children can chew through the plastic spout of the sippy cup, which can pose a choking hazard.

      The firm has received 36 reports of toddlers chewing through the plastic spout of the sippy cup, resulting in one choking incident and three near-choking incidents. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the Playskool Toddler NoSpill Sippy Cup. The 8-ounce cup is clear plastic with red trim, red and yellow handles, and a yellow tip; blue trim, blue and green handles and a green tip; or purple trim, purple and aqua handles, and an aqua tip. The serial number of the recalled cups is 382814, which appears on the back of the packaging.

      The cups were sold by CVS stores nationwide from September 2006 through April 2007 for about $5.

      They were manufactured in China.

      Consumers should stop their children from using the cup immediately and return it to any CVS store for a refund, or throw the product away and bring a proof of purchase of the product to any CVS store for a refund.

      Bassettbaby cribs sold by Babies R Us are being recalled because of a strangulation hazard.

      The bolts connecting the top corners of the crib can come loose, creating a gap and posing a serious entrapment and strangulation hazard.

      Bassettbaby has 85 reports of bolts loosening, including one report of a 13 month-old childs hand becoming entrapped between the railings.

      Description: This recall involves Wendy Bellissimo Collection convertible cribs, model numbers 5945-0521 and 5545-0521, sold in honey and cherry finishes. The full size cribs have a sleigh design and one of the following purchase order numbers at the bottom rail of the headboard: 272903, 272904, 273904, 276728, 276729, 291081, 323975, 324472, 320318, 323976, 332883 365620, 368466 in honey, and 338535, 338537 and 332884 in cherry. No other Wendy Bellissimo Collection cribs are involved in this recall.

      The cribs were sold at Babies R Us stores nationwide from July 2005 through October 2007 for about $500. They were made in China.

      Consumers should stop using these cribs immediately and contact Bassettbaby for a free repair kit.

      DEWALT is recalling nearly 350,000 cordless drills. The trigger switch of the cordless drill can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

      DEWALT has received 11 reports of trigger switches overheating. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

      The model number is printed on a sticker on the side of the unit. The date code is embossed on the bottom of the unit. Units stamped with an M following the date code have been repaired and are not included in this recall. The packaging of repaired drills has a green dot sticker near the UPC label.

      The drills, made in Mexico, were sold at wholesale distributors and retailers from about June 2006 through December 2007 for between $180 and $280.

      Spandrel Sales and Marketing is recalling about 200,000 sets of children's metal jewelry because of a lead poisoning hazard.

      The recalled jewelry includes pendants that hang from silver-colored bracelet and necklace chains, and silver-colored rings with a charm on top.

      Charm shapes include silver-colored crosses, suns, moons, stars, butterflies, cupids, angels, keys, elephants, hands, cell phones, fish, and shoes.

      The items were sold through vending machines located in malls, discount, department and grocery stores nationwide from February 2007 through March 2007 for 25 cents.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled rings and necklaces away from children and throw them away.

      Graco Childrens Products is recalling Soft Blocks Towers onits Baby Einstein "discover and play" activity centers.

      The plastic covering on the soft block towers can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants.

      Graco has received 137 reports of infants mouthing and chewing pieces of the plastic film covering, some of whom required medical attention. Serious incident reports include 32 infants who gagged and 49 who choked on the plastic covering.

      The soft block tower is a stack of three different shaped stuffed fabric blocks in red, yellow and blue. Pictures of apples, fire engines, ducks, bananas, birds and blueberries on the blocks are covered in plastic film. The soft blocks are one of nine toys that snap onto the tray of the activity center. Only model number 4635BEE with serial numbers 012705 through 063005, which indicates the manufacture dates of January 27, 2005 through June 30, 2005, are included in this recall. Model and serial numbers are located underneath the activity centers tray.

      The toys were sold at Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Meijer, Shopko, Target, and various specialty retailers nationwide, and on Wal-Mart.com and Target.com from February 2005 through about December 2005 for $80.

      Consumers should immediately remove the Soft Blocks toy from the activity center and contact Graco for a free replacement Tower toy without the plastic film. Consumers can continue to use the activity center after the soft block tower has been removed.

      Toshiba is recalling about 1,400 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries containing Sony cells used in Toshiba notebook computers.

      The lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

      The computers were sold nationwide from January 2006 through April 2006 for between $680 and $1,300 for the computer systems and for between $90 and $120 when sold separately.

      The battery packs were manufactured in China.

Consumers can continue to use the notebook computers safely, by turning the system off, removing the battery, and using the AC adapter and power cord to power the system until the replacement battery is received.       Globe Fire Sprinkler Corp. is recalling about 300,000 dry fire sprinklers. The sprinkler heads can deteriorate over time and fail to operate in a fire.

      Globe has received five reports of sprinklers that failed to operate as intended during a fire. Globe has received no reports of injuries caused by sprinklers failing to operate.

      Model J Series dry fire sprinklers come in pendent, upright, and sidewall configurations. The name "Globe, the letter "J and the year of manufacture (1990 though 1999) are embossed on the frame of each sprinkler.

      These dry sprinklers were designed to be installed in areas of buildings where the sprinklers or water supply pipes may be subject to freezing, such as unheated attics, freezers and coolers, parking garages, porches and warehouses.

      The sprinklers were sold by fire protection contractors nationwide from January 1990 through December 1999 for between $27 and $36 per sprinkler head.

      Building owners should contact Globe immediately to arrange to receive replacement sprinkler heads at a reduced cost of $9 per sprinkler head.

      Family Dollar Recalls Metal Jewelry

      About 205,000 sets of children's metal jewelry sold at Family Dollar Stores are being recalled because of high lead levels.

      The recall affects 'Rachel Rose' and 'Distinctly Basics' jewelry. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

      The recalled jewelry was sold under the Rachel Rose and Distinctly Basics brands and includes key rings and pins with religious themes (crosses and fish symbols), key rings with "Mom" and cheerleader charms; bracelets with charms like handbags, flip flops, hearts, dresses, and flowers; silver-colored rings with designs or stones in a variety of colors; clutchless hoop earrings with decorations such as butterflies; and filigree and long drop earrings with stones in a variety of colors.

      The jewelry was sold at Family Dollar stores nationwide from January 2003 through August 2007 for between $.50 and $2. A complete list of the recalled jewelry can be found at www.familydollar.com. It was made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and return it to a Family Dollar store for a full refund.

      Cannondale Bicycle Corp. is recalling about 6,700 mountain bicycles with Lefty Speed SL and Lefty Speed DLR Forks.

      The forks can break during use causing the rider to lose control of the bicycle, fall and suffer serious injuries.

      Cannondale has received 15 reports of the bicycle forks separating, including five reports of injuries including a broken collarbone, a concussion, broken ribs and bruises.

      Thermador Ceramic Cooktops Recalled

      Thermador Ceramic Cooktops are being recalled because of a fire hazard.

      The cooktop can come on by itself when switched off, creating a potential fire hazard if flammable items are left on the cooktop.

      The cooktop has electric and induction heating elements with a black ceramic glass surface. This recall involves model numbers CIT302DS/01 and CIT362DS/01 with date codes between 8606 and 8612. The model number and date code can be found on the underside of the cooktop.

      The cooktops were sold at appliance and specialty stores nationwide from October 2006 through March 2007 for between $1,800 and $2,200.

      Consumers should disconnect the cooktop at the circuit breaker when not in use, and never leave anything on the cooktop when it is unattended. Contact BSH Home Appliances for a free in-home repair.

      Pottery Barn Kids Strollers Recalled

      Pottery Barn Kids "Mini Zooper Doll" strollers are being recalled after a child's finger tip was severed.

      A childs finger can become caught in the rectangular metal clip or the black plastic side hinge, and this can sever a childs finger tip. Also, the strollers pose an entrapment hazard.

      Pottery Barn Kids has received three reports of serious lacerations, including one partial finger severing on a 2-year-old boy.

      The Mini Zooper Doll Stroller has a silver metal frame with a bright pink cotton canvas seat cover. Pottery Barn Kids is printed on a label on the canvas seat cover.

      The strollers were sold at Pottery Barn Kids retail stores nationwide, catalog and Web site from October 2005 through June 2007 for about $50. They were made in China.

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled doll strollers away from children and contact Pottery Barn Kids for instructions on receiving a repair kit.

      Yamaha Recalls PZ50 Snowmobiles

      Yamaha is rcalling its 2007 model year PZ50 snowmobiles. Snow and ice stuck around the steering idler arm can cause a loss of steering ability, posing a risk of injury and death to drivers and passengers.

      This recall involves all model year 2007 PZ50 snowmobiles, including PZ50W (Phazer), PZ50FXW (Phazer FX), PZ50GTW (Phazer GT), PZ50MW (Phazer Mountain Lite), and PZ50VTW (Venture Lite) model snowmobiles.

      The snowmobiles were sold by Yamaha dealers nationwide from June 2006 through September 2007 for between $7,000 and $8,000. They were made in Japan.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact an authorized Yamaha snowmobile dealer in their area to schedule a free repair. Registered owners were sent direct mail notification of this recall.

      Kids II Inc. Recalls Teethers Due to Choking Hazard

      Kids II Inc. is recalling about 375,000 Bright Starts Star Teether Beads and Bright Starts Teether Beads. The flexible plastic ring that holds the teether beads in place can crack or break, and the beads can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants.

      Kids II has received 24 reports of the plastic ring cracking or breaking and the beads becoming detached from the ring. No injuries have been reported.

      The Bright Starts Star Teether Beads (model 8483) has textured soft plastic beads in bright colors and various shapes connected to a flexible plastic ring. The beads on this model are shaped as stars, spirals and ovals. The Bright Starts Teether Beads (model 8549) has plastic beads in bright colors that are shaped as an oval and are connected to a flexible plastic ring.

      The teethers were sold at discount department and juvenile specialty stores nationwide from June 2006 through January 2007 for between $1 and $3.

      Consumers should take this product away from children immediately and contact Kids II for information on receiving a free replacement.

      The latest recall includes about 200,000 units. About 1.5 million other Thomas & Friends railway toys were recalled on June 13, 2007.

      The recall involves five toys from the Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway product line: the all-black cargo car, toad vehicle, olive green sodor cargo box and all-green maple tree top and signal base accessories. The front of the packaging has the logo Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway in the upper left-hand corner. A tracking code may be located on the bottom of some of the products. Toys marked with codes containing WJ and AZ are not included in the recall.

      The trains were sold at toy stores and various retailers nationwide from March 2003 through September 2007 for between $10 and $40. They were made in China.

      Dollar General Children's Sunglasses Recalled

      Dollar General is recalling about 51,000 children's fashion sunglasses. The yellow surface paint on the sunglasses may contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

      The recall involves yellow childrens sunglasses. No other colors of sunglasses are included in this recall. The word "CHINA" is printed on the left side of the frame. The UPC #400007860896 and words "Fashion Sunglasses" and "Time to Play Every Day" are printed on the products red hangtag.

      The sunglasses were sold at Dollar General stores nationwide from March 2005 through October 2007 for $1. They were made in China.

      Consumers should take the recalled sunglasses away from young children immediately and return them to any Dollar General store for a full refund.

      Iceberg Folding Chairs Recalled

      Iceberg Enterprises is recalling about 75,000 folding chairs because they can collapse.

      The company has received about 15 reports of chairs collapsing while in use, including three minor injuries.

      This recall involves Iceberg plastic round leg folding chairs. The metal support of the chair is charcoal and the seat and back support are beige. Iceberg is printed on a logo located on the back of the seat. Chairs with oval-shaped legs are not included in this recall.

      The chairs were sold at office supply retailers nationwide from August 2005 through July 2007 for about $30. They were made in the United States.

      Consumers should stop using the chairs immediately and contact Iceberg Enterprises to receive a free repair kit with instructions.

      Black & Decker Recalls Trimmers/Edgers

      Black & Decker is recalling about 202,000 of its GH1000 Grasshog XP string trimmer/edgers.

      The trimmer/edger's spool, spool cap and pieces of trimmer string can come loose during use and become airborne projectiles, posing a laceration hazard to the user as well as bystanders. The trimmer/edgers can also overheat posing a burn hazard to consumers.

      Black & Decker has received 707 reports of incidents, including 58 reports of injuries. Serious injuries included cuts to two consumers' legs that required medical attention. Minor injuries included bruises, lacerations, and facial injuries such as a welt and broken skin over a consumer's eye. There were also reports of property damage, including two broken windows.

      The Black & Decker GH1000 Grasshog XP String Trimmers/Edgers are electric-powered. Trimmer/edgers with date codes 200546 through 200645 (representing manufacture dates of November 14, 2005 through November 6, 2006) are included in this recall.

      The date code is located on the underside of the trimmer/edger's handle. Only trimmers with black spools caps are included in the recall. Those with orange spool caps are not included in the recall.

      The trimmers were sold at major home center and hardware stores nationwide from November 2005 through January 2007 for about $70.

      They were manufactured in China.

      Consumers should stop using the string trimmers/edgers immediately and contact Black & Decker for a free repair kit.
