Furniture is one of those things that should be pretty simple, but it often doesn't turn out
that way. Very often, the stuff doesn't show up on time.
When it does, it's damaged or not what you ordered. Even worse,
furniture stores have a bad habit of going out of business;
when that happens those who've made deposits or set up layaway
plans lose out.
Below are some complaints that are typical of what you can
expect to run into. Note that they're by no means confined to
discount or low-cost stores. If at all possible, we recommend
that you borrow or rent a truck or van so you can buy furniture
and take immediate possession of it. You may break a sweat,
but at least you'll know what you're getting.
