    Newmar recalls motorhomes with a power steering issue

    The power steering pump may have an occasional loss of output power

    Newmar Corporation is recalling 12 model year 2017 Newmar King Aire, Essex, London Aire and Mountain Aire motorhomes manufactured May 12, 2016, to August 23, 2016 and built on a Spartan Motors chassis.

    The vehicles have a power steering pump that may have an occasional loss of output power resulting in reduced or intermittent loss of power steering assist.

    An intermittent loss of power steering assist could increase the risk of a crash.

    What to do

    Newmar will notify owners, and Spartan Motors dealers will replace the power steering pump, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 4, 2016.

    Winnebago recalls numerous travel trailers with incorrect water capacity information

    Trailers could be overloaded, possibly resulting in a loss of control

    Winnebago Towable is recalling 3,118 model year 2016-2017 Winnebago Winnie Drop, Micro Minnie, Minnie, Minnie Plus, Spyder, Scorpion, Destination, Instinct, and Voyage travel trailers manufactured November 9, 2015, to September 6, 2016.

    The weight label on the affected vehicles incorrectly states the fresh water capacity in gallons when it should be stated in pounds.

    The incorrect information may cause the trailer to be overloaded, possibly resulting in a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.

    What to do

    Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect weight labels with corrected labels, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 14, 2016.

    Wildhorn Outfitters recalls hammocks

    The straps can detach from the hammock, posing a fall hazard

    Wildhorn Outfitters of Draper, Utah, is recalling about 9,700 camping hammocks.

    The cinch buckles that came with the hammocks and suspension kit can fail, causing straps to detach from the hammock, posing a fall hazard.

    The company has received three reports of cinch buckles breaking, including one report of a minor laceration injury.

    This recall involves the Outpost 1 Hammock, made for one person, and the Outpost II Hammock, the two person model, and one standalone Wildhorn Outfitters Litespeed Suspension Kit.

    The 100-percent nylon hammocks come in various colors including gray, blue, orange and green. “Wildhorn Outfitters” is stitched on a label on the hammocks.

    The hammocks, manufactured in China, were sold online at amazon.com and wildhornoutfitters.com from June 2016 through August 2016 for between $25 and $60.

    What to do

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hammock cinch buckles and contact Wildhorn. The company will ship out replacement buckles free of charge and provide a prepaid envelope for consumers to return the recalled cinch buckles. Wildhorn Outfitters is contacting all consumers directly.

      Jayco recalls Seismic travel trailers with electrical issue

      The trailer may have an underrated resettable fuse for the awning with LED lights

      Jayco is recalling 137 model year 2017 Seismic travel trailers manufactured November 19, 2015, to August 19, 2016.

      The trailer may be equipped with an underrated resettable fuse for the awning with LED lights.

      The incorrect fuse may not properly protect the circuit, allowing an electrical short to occur and increasing the risk of a fire.

      What to do

      Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuse with the correct 1.85 amp hold/3.70 amp trip fuse, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on November 4, 2016.

      Mamas & Papas recalls Armadillo flip stroller

      A loose latch can cause the seat to tip back unexpectedly

      Mamas & Papas is recalling the Armadillo flip stroller. The company said a loose latch on the stroller can cause the seat to tip back unexpectedly when an infant is in the parent-facing position, posing a fall hazard.

      This recall involves Mamas & Papas’ Armadillo Flip and Armadillo Flip XT strollers. All models are folding, single-occupant infant strollers. The strollers come in various colors, including black, teal, and navy, and weigh about 22 pounds.

      Recalled items can be identified by their lot number, which is the month and year of manufacture. Lot number ranges for recalled Armadillo Flip strollers are 00814 through 00416 (August 2014 through April 2016). Lot number ranges for the Flip XT are 01214 through 00416 (December 2014 through April 2016). The lot number is printed on the sewn-in label on the stroller. 

      There have been 10 reports of seats tipping back, but no injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately stop using the strollers and contact Mamas & Papas for a free repair.

      The strollers were made in China and sold at Albee Baby, Babies ‘R’ Us, Buy Buy Baby, and other stores nationwide and online from December 2014 through July 2016 for between $500 and $550.

      Specialized recalls S-Works road bicycles

      The bicycle's rear wheel can come out of the dropout

      Specialized is recalling about 1,000 S-Works road bicycles because the rear wheel can come out of the dropout causing fractures in the rear triangle.

      This recall involves 2016 Specialized S-Works Venge Vias and Venge Pro Vias road bicycles. They were sold in black, white, red and black, white and black, and green and blue color combinations. An S-works or Specialized decal can be found on the downtube.

      The firm has received seven reports of fractures in the bicycle’s rear triangle, including one report of a rider suffering a minor injury.

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact an Authorized Specialized retailer for free installation of a new rear derailleur hanger and a safety inspection.

      The bicycles were sold at authorized Specialized retailers from July 2015 through September 2016 for between $6,200 and $12,900. They were made in China.

      Toyota recalls 92,000 Priuses to fix parking brake

      The recall is for certain 2016, 2017 models

      Toyota Motor North America is recalling about 92,000 Toyota Prius sedans from the 2016 and 2017 model years to fix a problem with the parking brake.

      On the involved vehicles, there is a possibility that the parking brake could become inoperative. If this occurs and the driver exits the vehicle with the transmission in a gear other than "Park" while the ignition is on, the vehicle could roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.

      Toyota dealers will add clips on the top of the brake cable dust boots to prevent the cable from becoming inoperative at no cost to customers. All known owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail starting in November.

      Aqua Lung recalls Powerline inflators

      The inflation button can remain depressed and cause the buoyancy compensators to continue inflating

      Aqua Lung America of Vista, Calif., is recalling about 53,000 Aqua Lung Powerline inflators.

      The inflation button can remain depressed and cause the buoyancy compensators to continue inflating, resulting in an uncontrolled ascent. This poses injury and drowning hazards to the diver.

      The firm has received 60 reports of the Powerline inflators continuing to inflate. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Aqua Lung Powerline inflators installed on Aqua Lung and Apeks Black Ice buoyancy compensators.

      Buoyancy compensators equipped with Powerline inflators are used by scuba divers to establish buoyancy in the water.

      The black Powerline inflators measure about 20 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. Recalled Powerline inflators have a date code beginning with “H” printed on the inflator body.

      The inflators, manufactured in China and Mexico, were sold at Sports Chalet and authorized Aqua Lung stores nationwide from January 2015, through September 2016. The Powerline inflators were sold separately for about $30 and with Aqua Lung and Apeks buoyancy compensators for between $370 and $700.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Powerline inflators and contact Aqua Lung to receive a free repair, which consists of the replacement of the inflation button by an authorized

      Starcraft recalls AR-ONE MAXX LE trailers

      The listed axle capacity is incorrect

      Starcraft RV is recalling 40 model year 2017 AR-ONE MAXX LE trailers, model 19BHLE, manufactured August 25, 2016, to September 6, 2016.

      The federal label on the vehicles states that the trailers are built with two axles, each with a 2500 pound capacity, however, the vehicles are only built with one 2500 pound capacity axle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

      The trailer would be overloaded if the operator goes by the listed axle capacity, possibly resulting in axle or tire failure, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Starcraft has notified the dealers who have the trailers quarantined and will provide them with a corrected federal label, free of charge. The recall began September 19, 2016.

      Forest River recalls Salem and Wildwood recreational trailers

      The federal placard on the vehicles incorrectly lists the tire and rim combination.

      Forest River is recalling 178 model year 2017 Salem and Wildwood recreational trailers manufactured August 9, 2016, to September 6, 2016.

      The federal placard on the vehicles incorrectly lists the tire and rim combination, stating ST225/75R15 Load Range C tires with an inflation pressure of 50PSI and a rim size of 15X6.0JJ.

      However, the trailer is equipped with ST225/75R15 Load Range D tires that have an inflation pressure of 65PSI, installed on 15X6.0JJ rims. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

      The incorrect tire information on the federal label may result in the operator under-inflating the tires. An underinflated tire may cause sudden tire failure, or poor handling, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected federal placard, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 14, 2016.

      Summer Infant recalls infant bath tubs

      Fabric slings on the tubs can detach from the tub

      Summer Infant of Woonsocket, R.I., is recalling about 86,000 Lil’ Luxuries infant bath tubs with fabric slings.

      Fabric slings on the tubs can detach from the tub, posing a risk of impact injury and drowning.

      There are 91 reports of incidents of the sling detaching, including 11 reports of infants who received a bump to the head.

      This recall involves Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower with fabric slings.

      The infant bath tub is a battery-operated whirlpool bath with motorized jets intended for use with children from birth to 2 years. The product contains a fabric sling on a plastic frame onto which the infant is placed for bathing. The fabric sling on the recalled bath tubs does not have a white plastic attachment clip to hold the headrest area of the fabric sling to the plastic frame.

      Recalled bath tubs have item numbers 18840, 18850, 18863, and 18873 and were sold between October 2012 and October 2013 with date codes starting with 1210, 1211, 1212, 1301, 1302, 1303, 1304, 1305, 1306, 1307, and 1308, which stand for the two-digit year followed by the two-digit month, on the fabric sling.

      The bath tubs, manufactured in China, were sold at Toys R Us/Babies R Us and other juvenile product specialty stores nationwide from October 2012 through October 2013 for about $60. These tubs could have been and could continue to be sold on the secondhand market.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the fabric sling in the recalled product and contact Summer Infant for a replacement fabric sling with a white plastic attachment clip.

      The front sway bar mounting bracket bolts may bend or loosen

      Winnebago Industries is recalling 91 model year 2016 Winnebago Journey and Forza, and 2016 Itasca Solei and Meridian motor homes manufactured May 7, 2015, to March 25, 2016.

      The front sway bar mounting brackets may not fit properly on the axle causing the mounting bolts to bend or loosen.

      If the sway bar bolts loosen, the sway bar may detach from the axle, affecting the handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Winnebago owners will be notified by Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) and DTNSA will modify the sway bar mounting, free of charge.

      The wheelchair access door may open while the vehicle is in motion

      Newmar Corporation is recalling 58 model year 2015-2017 Canyon Star recreational vehicles manufactured June 5, 2014, to September 6, 2016.

      The vehicles have a wheelchair access door with a power door lock that may open while the vehicle is in motion if the keyfob button is pressed accidentally.

      If the wheelchair access door opens while the vehicle is being driven, it could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will add a relay harness to prevent the keyfob button from opening the door while the vehicle is in motion. The recall is expected to begin November 26, 2016.

      Spices USA is recalling Tasty Sawa Ground Turmeric, used for furthering manufacturing or repacking.

      The product contains elevated levels of lead.

      No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

      The recalled product was distributed in Florida, New York, the Dominican Republic, France, Colombia, Jamaica and Barbados to distributors and re-packers -- not directly to consumers.

      The following product is being recalled:

      • Tasty Sawa, 50-lb. Bags, lot number 120674, USE BY 4/2018, Country of origin: India

      All buyers have been contacted by Spices USA and advised to either return or destroy the product and to contact their customers with the same instructions if this product was repacked under another label.

      What to do

      The plastic rims of the wheels can break when overinflated

      Gleason Consumer Products Company of Lincoln, Ill., is recalling about 120,000 hand trucks.

      The plastic rims of the wheels can break when overinflated, posing a laceration or injury hazard.

      The firm has received five reports of injuries, including lacerations to face, hand and wrist.

      This recall involves Milwaukee-branded hand trucks with model numbers 40615 and 60610. The recalled nylon hand trucks have a one-piece, nylon-molded frame and measure 50 inches tall and 21 inches wide.

      Model 40615 has a black nylon body, a black foot rest and yellow handles. Model 60610 has a black nylon body, a red foot rest and red handles. The model number is located on the crossbar between the handles of the hand truck.

      The hand trucks, manufactured in the U.S., were sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s nationwide and online at homedepot.com and lowes.com from August 2007, through April 2010, for about $65.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hand trucks and contact Gleason to obtain replacement wheels.

      Interlogix recalls personal panic devices

      The wireless personal panic devices can fail to operate

      Interlogix of Lincolnton, N.C., is recalling about 67,000 wireless personal panic devices.

      The wireless personal panic devices can fail to operate, which could result in the device not communicating with the security system if activated in the event of an emergency.

      There have been five reports of personal panic devices not communicating with a security system as intended, but no reports of injuries.

      The personal panic device is typically sold as an accessory to a professionally installed security system and is worn by end users either around their neck or wrist.

      The products subject to this recall are TX-4200-01-1 (white) and TX-4200-01-2 (black) with a manufacturing date code less than 16154.

      The devices, manufactured in Mexico, were sold through professional security installers and distributors nationwide from May 2014, through January 2016, for about $35 to $50.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately contact their professional security system installer or monitoring company for a free inspection of their personal panic device and a free replacement device for those that fail inspection.

      The paint can contain harmful bacteria

      Sargent Art of Hazleton, Pa., is recalling about 2.8 million units of tempera and finger paints sold in the U.S. and Canada.

      The paint can contain harmful bacteria. Exposure to certain bacteria can have adverse health effects in immunocompromised individuals, posing a risk of serious illness including a bacterial infection. Consumers with healthy immune systems are not generally affected by the bacteria.

      No incidents or injuries are reported.

      This recall involves 13 types of Sargent Art tempera and finger paints. All colors and sizes of the following types of Sargent Art paints are included in the recall:

      Piaggio Group Americas is recalling 1,628 model year 2014-2015 Aprilia Tuono V4 1000; 2016 Tuono V4 1100; 2015 Caponord 1200 ABS/ADD; and 2016 Caponord Rally motorcycles manufactured June 18, 2013, to June 13, 2016.

      The motorcycles have a front brake master cylinder that may allow air into the hydraulic circuit, causing a longer than expected braking distance.

      If an abnormal distance is required to stop the motorcycle, there is an increased risk of a crash.
