Recalls in June 2016

Forest River is recalling 38 model year 2016-2017 Berkshire recreational vehicles manufactured May 29, 2015, to April 26, 2016 and built on Daimler Trucks chassis.

The front sway bar mounting brackets may not fit properly on the axle causing the mounting bolts to bend or loosen.

If the sway bar bolts loosen, the sway bar may detach from the axle, affecting the handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Forest River will notify owners, and Daimler Trucks dealers will modify the mounting of the sway bar, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 4, 2016.

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling 207 model year 2015-2016 Tuscany motor homes manufactured July 28, 2014, to July 27, 2015.

The affected vehicles are built on a Freightliner Custom Chassis and have steering boxes that were manufactured using incorrect internal spacers, resulting in premature wear in the connection between the steering wheel and the front axle.

The steering wheel's connection to the front axle could fail resulting in a sudden loss of steering ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

TMC will notify owners, and Freightliner Custom Chassis dealers will inspect and replace the steering box if necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners should not drive their vehicles until they have been inspected.

Square Grove of Austin, Texas, is recalling about 750 Sit-Stand Desk Converters.

The pneumatic lifting mechanism can pinch or break fingers during assembly or use, posing a risk of serious injury.

The company has received reports of two incidents that resulted in a broken finger and a pinched finger with bruising.

This recall involves Square Grove’s Sit-Stand Converters. The model included in the recall is UPL147 and includes the freestand and clamp versions. The freestand version sits on a desk that raises and lowers a computer monitor and keyboard by 17 inches. The clamp version functions the same, but clamps to the back of the desk. The color of both is black.

The dimensions for the top platform are about 24 inches in width and 16 inches in diameter. The keyboard platform dimensions are about 24 inches in width and 9 inches in diameter. The freestanding base platform version dimensions are about 20 inches in width and 20 inches in diameter. The clamp mount version dimensions are about 7 inches in width and 18 inches in diameter. The words “UPLIFT DESK” are printed on the product.

The converters, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold online at www.upliftdesk.com and www.thehumansolution.com from January 2016, through March 2016, for about $220.

Debco Bag Distributors of Canada is recalling more than 24,000 ceramic mugs in the U.S. and Canada.

The mug handle can break, posing a burn or laceration hazard to consumers.

The company has received one report of a burn injury due to the mug handle breaking.

This recall involves four models of Tonal Thirst ceramic mugs. The 12-ounce mugs have a glossy two-tone finish with a white exterior and colored interior with matching colored handles.

The mugs were sold in white/black, white/blue, white/lime and white/red color combinations. Some mugs can have promotional logos printed on them when distributed as giveaways.

The mugs, manufactured in China, were sold by Ad Specialty Distributors as a promotional item from August 2015, through April 2016, for about $3.

REV Recreation Group is recalling 49 model year 2016-2017 Holiday Rambler Endeavor motor homes, models 40DP, 40G, 40E, 40G and 40X, manufactured November 23, 2015, to April 7, 2016, and Holiday Rambler Endeavor XE motor homes , model 37PE, manufactured November 17, 2015, to April 6, 2016.

The vehicles have a section of framework that may rub, or cause the mud flap to rub, against the front passenger-side tire, resulting in excessive tire wear. Additionally, steering may be restricted.

Excessive tire wear may result in tire failure. Restricted steering can affect control of the vehicle. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

What to do

REV will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tube steel skirt framing and remove the diagonal section if present, and install additional screws to secure the mud flap. This repair will be done free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in early June 2016.

KTM North America is recalling 1,238 model year 2015-2016 1290 Super Adventure motorcycles manufactured December 1, 2014, to December 11, 2015.

The motorcycles have a rear shock absorber that may leak oil from the rebound damping plug, resulting in a loss of shock function.

Loss of function of the rear shock may affect the handling of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

KTM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rebound damping plug for leaking, replace the shock absorber, as necessary, and install a new version of the suspension control unit software free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Keystone RV Company is recalling 88 model year 2016-2017 Keystone Outback recreational trailers, model 326RL, manufactured February 24, 2016, to April 21, 2016.

The vehicles have a television mounting bracket that may not be properly secured to the wall.

The improperly secured bracket may allow the TV to fall, increasing the risk of injury to an occupant nearby.

What to do

Keystone has notified the affected owners. Dealers will re-install the TV bracket with larger screws, free of charge. The recall began on May 13, 2016.

The Meadow Gold Dairy plant in Boise, Idaho, is recalling approximately 10,000 units of Meadow Gold brand Old Style Whipping Cream and Meadow Gold DairyPure brand Whipping Cream and Half and Half.

The products were not sufficiently pasteurized, raising the possible that pathogens present in raw milk, including Salmonella, Campylobacter, Listeria, and/or E. coli, may have survived.

There are no reports of illnesses related to the recalled products to date.

Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 14,731 model year 2015-2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport vehicles manufactured September 17, 2014, to March 5, 2016.

The license plate illumination lamp may fall out. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Without license plate illumination, the vehicle may be difficult to identify at night.

What to do

Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will replace both rear license plate lamp housings, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 27, 2016.

Mirka USA of Twinsburg, Ohio, is recalling about 2,800 random orbital sanders in the U.S. and Canada.

The sanders can short circuit, posing a fire hazard.

The company has received two reports of electrical shorting incidents which included the sanders sparking and smoking. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

This recall involves 3-inch, 5-inch and 6-inch Mirka CEROS compact electric random orbital sanders. The sanders are yellow and black with “Mirka” on the front. A speed control lever is on the top of the sanders and a vacuum hose connector on the rear.

The recalled sanders came with either a cardboard box or plastic carrying case, a 12-foot power cord, DC transformer (only in certain sanders), a wrench, a multi-hole backup pad and assorted abrasives.

The 3-inch sander is model CEROS 325. The 5-inch sander is model CEROS 550. The 6-inch sander is model CEROS 650. Model names are on a white sticker on the back of the sander housing beneath the hand grip, and in certain sanders, the serial number can only be found on this sticker. Serial numbers are engraved on the side of the sander housing just above the dust shroud.

The sanders, manufactured in Finland, were sold at various distributors and independent retailers nationwide and online at Amazon.com and BeaverTools.com from January 2013, through March 2016, for about $500.

Mohu of Raleigh, N.C., is recalling about 1,700 boomboxes.

The boombox can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.

The firm reported one incident of a unit catching fire. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves all models and serial numbers of the Mohu BeBox smart boombox with built-in Android touchscreen tablet. The unit is a black, portable speaker that measures approximately 13 inches in height, 19 inches in width, 5 inches in depth and weighs about 14.5 pounds. It included a power supply 18V@3.5A and 3.5mm shielded stereo auxiliary cable.

The front surface is covered in a black, metallic grill and the back of the unit is black plastic. It features a small Mohu logo on the middle, lower front and an embossed Mohu logo on the middle, center back.

The boomboxes, manufactured in China, were sold at Huppins audio store in Spokane, Wash., and online at amazon.com, gomohu.com and onecall.com from December 2015, through April 2016, for between $300 and $500.

The boxes were manufactured using incorrect internal spacers that can cause premature wear in the connection between the steering wheel and the front axle.

Hollander Sleep Products of Boca Raton, Fla., is recalling about 4,700 Wamsutta mattress pads.

The mattress pads fail to meet the mandatory federal flammability standard for mattresses and mattress pads, posing a fire hazard.

This recall involves all sizes of Wamsutta Dream Zone cotton 800 thread count mattress pads, manufactured from August 2015, through January 2016. Hollander Sleep Products, style number 266BB and the manufacture date are printed on a label on a side of the mattress pad.

The mattress pads, manufactured in the U.S., were sold exclusively at Bed, Bath & Beyond stores nationwide and online at www.bedbathandbeyond.com from August 2015, through January 2016, for between $110 and $170.
