Recalls in October 2012

In response to Justin’s Nut Butter's recall of its 0.5 oz. single-serve Honey Peanut Butter squeeze packs, Gretchen’s Shoebox Express in Seattle, WA, is recalling Starbucks brand Protein Bistro Box containing the above named peanut butter product.

The recalled peanut butter squeeze pack contained in the Protein Bistro Box products have Best By dates: 7/14/13, 8/10/13, 8/13/13, 8/14/13 or 8/15/13.

Peanuts associated with the Sunland recall were used in the production of certain lots of Justin’s Nut Butter product and have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recalled product was distributed solely to Starbucks retail stores in Washington and Oregon, from 9/1/2012 to 9/27/2012. All affected product has been confirmed as removed from all stores.

The Bistro Box product is in a clear plastic container, with a white code date sticker on the bottom of the container, stating “Enjoy by” followed by the date in the following format: M (Month) DD (Date), for example 9 27 standing for Sept 27.

The recalled single-serve peanut butter pouches are included inside the Bistro Box and is fully labeled and sealed. The individual pouches are date stamped at the bottom of the pouch.

Xan Confections is recalling 13 of its gourmet peanut butter chocolate products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The voluntary recall was issued upon learning that Sunland, the peanut butter supplier used in the production of Xan Confections, has recalled its entire peanut butter product from May 1, 2012 through Sept. 24, 2012.

The recall affected Xan Confections products distributed from May 28, 2012 - Sept. 28, 2012, at retail locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and Nova Scotia, Canada, as well as through online distribution.

None of the Xan Confections truffles (see following list with product dates) with the affected peanut butter have been associated with any reported illness to date. All Xan Confections products have passed internal quality control tests and procedures. Used by dates are located on the back of the retail packages and on the outside of wholesale bulk boxes. Affected dates are listed below.

Late July Snacks is recalling its Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers following Sunland's recall of nut butter products manufactured between May and September 2012. Sunland says its peanut butter has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

No illnesses have been reported to date with consumption of the Late July Organic Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers.

No other code dates of this product are included in the recall nor are any other Late July Snacks products.

Newman's Own Organics is recalling certain lots of Peanut Butter Newman-O's Sandwich Crème Cookies, with expiration dates 27MAY13 and 3MAY13, because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella. 

The recall follows the expanded scope of Sunland, Inc.'s recall of nut butter products (peanut butter in particular). 

These cookies were distributed nationwide via retail stores. 

Product manufactured with the expiration dates shown below should not be used. No illnesses have been reported to-date in connection with Newman's Own Organics products and no other Newman's Own Organics products or expiration dates are affected. 

The expiration dates are located on the side panels of the boxes or packages and are not marked with the words "Expiration Date" or "Use By Date".

Retailers who have purchased Peanut Butter Newman-O’s Sandwich Crème Cookies 13 oz/6 pack or 8 oz/6 pack with the above expiration dates are urged to discard the product immediately and provide a proof of destruction.

Fairytale Brownies is recalling peanut butter brownies and cookies identified with the lot codes shown below. The products were distributed primarily through the company's mail-order channel as well as some retail outlets. 

The decision is based on a recall initiated on September 24, 2012 by peanut butter manufacturer Sunland because certain products may have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. 

Fairytale Brownies products have not been associated with any illness to date and no other Fairytale Brownies products are being recalled at this time. 

Anyone who is in possession of Peanut Butter Brownies, Sprites or Cookies with the lot codes shown below should discard the product.

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company, following a recall by Late July Organic Snacks, announced it removed from sale organic mini peanut butter sandwich crackers due to possible salmonella contamination in the peanut butter. 

The following products, with sell by dates of May 19, 2013 through July 11, 2013, are included in this recall: 

• Late July Organic Snacks Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, UPC 89044400070, 5 oz.
• Late July Organic Snacks Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, UPC 89044400071, 1.125 oz.
• Late July Organic Snacks Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, UPC 89044400072, 9 oz. 

No illnesses have been reported to date. Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.

Justin’s is recalling certain lots of its Classic Peanut Butter 16oz. jars and Honey Peanut Butter 1.15oz. and .5oz. single-serve squeeze packs in response to Sunland's recall of nut butter products. 

The products listed below are being recalled because peanuts used in the production of these identified products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. 

No Justin’s almond butter, hazelnut butter, peanut butter cups or candy bars are involved in this recall. These products were manufactured using nuts not sourced from Sunland Inc. 

The recalled products were distributed nationally to numerous supermarket chains and were available for purchase on the internet from 7/14/12 to 9/26/12. 

The specifics of the affected products are as follows:

Best By dates can by located for the jars to the left of the UPC code, and for the squeeze packs on the back, top seal. 

Consumers who purchased these items are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. They can bring in a receipt in place of product and discard the product at home. Retailers should destroy all corresponding products with the above lot information.

Jer's Chocolates is recalling some of its Gourmet Peanut Butter Bars and Gourmet Jer's Squares produced from July 9, 2012, to September 24, 2012. 

The recall was initiated upon learning that Sunland, the supplier of the peanut butter used in the production of Jer's Chocolates, has recalled all peanut butter product from May 1 - September 24, 2012, because of potential contamination with Salmonella. 

Jer's Gourmet Peanut Butter Bars and Jer's Squares have not been associated with any reported illnesses and all products have passed its internal quality control tests and procedures. 

No other products, including Jer’s Chocolates Gift Boxes and Peanut Brittle Bites from the California plant, are affected by the voluntary recall. 

Customers who have purchased these items are urged not to eat them and to dispose of them or return them to the retailer for a full refund. 

Items Recalled are specific lot numbers Jer's Squares 4oz and 16oz Gable Boxes and 3oz Peanut Butter Bars that were distributed from July 9, 2012, through September 24, 2012.

Oregon Ice Cream Company recalling Alden's Peanut Butter 'n Chip, 48oz. and Cascade Glacier Chocolate Peanut Butter, 3 gallon that contain peanut butter associated with the Sunland, Inc. recall. The peanut butter used in this product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. 

Sunland, Inc. has recalled 75 products after learning that twenty­ nine people reported Salmonella Bredeneye PFGE matching illnesses in approximately 18 states. 

There have been no reported illnesses attributed to these two recalled items, which are distributed nationally to a number of large supermarket chains. 

The Alden's product is packaged in a 48oz. container with prominent label identification. The five-digit production code date is either printed or stamped onto the bottom of the container. The Cascade Glacier product is packaged in a 3 gallon tub container with a blue sticker label identifying the flavor, UPC, and the five-digit production code date.
