    Forest River recalls Cascade and Cherokee travel trailers

    The trailer hitch coupler could fail

    Forest River is recalling 328 model year 2018-2020 Cascade and Cherokee travel trailers.

    The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the vehicle exceeds the GVWR of the trailer hitch coupler, potentially resulting in the coupler failing and the trailer detaching.

    A trailer that detaches from the tow vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.

    What to do

    The remedy for this recall is still under development.

    The recall was expected to begin January 11, 2020.

    The liquid propane tank may become dislodged

    Jayco is recalling 398 model year 2018-2020 Melbourne Prestige motorhomes.

    The liquid propane (LP) tank hangers may be the wrong size and have insufficient welding, allowing the LP tank to dislodge.

    If the LP tank dislodges while the motorhome is in transit, it can increase the risk of a crash with the ignition of the propane.

    What to do

    Jayco has notified owners, and dealers will install a support bracket on each side of the propane tank free of charge.

    The recall began December 9, 2019.

    Boston Warehouse recalls Holiday Travel mugs

    The mugs are mislabeled as microwave safe

    Boston Warehouse Trading Corp. of Norwood, Mass., is recalling about 2,400 Holiday Travel mugs.

    The mugs are mislabeled as microwave safe. If microwaved, the metallic print on the mug can spark, posing a fire hazard.

    The firm has received one report of sparks when a consumer used the mug in a microwave. No injuries have been reported.

    This recall involves Holiday Travel mugs measuring 7 inches tall with black lids and a decal with “Let it Snow” or “Merry and Bright” in gold metallic lettering. The bottom portion of the mugs is red or green and the top half portion is white.

    “Microwave safe” is written on the backstamp under the glaze and on the wrap band.

    The mugs, manufactured in China, were sold exclusively at Meijer stores nationwide from October 2019, through November 2019, for about $10.

    What to do

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mugs and return them to place of purchase for a full refund or contact Boston Warehouse Trading Corp.

      Entegra Coach is recalling 447 model year 2018-2020 Qwest motorhomes.

      The liquid propane (LP) tank hangers may be the wrong size and have insufficient welding, allowing the LP tank to dislodge.

      If the LP tank dislodges while the motorhome is in transit, it can increase the risk of a crash with the ignition of the propane.

      What to do

      Entegra has notified owners, and dealers will install a support bracket on each side of the propane tank free of charge.

      The footrest may fall off

      Piaggio Group Americas is recalling 399 model year 2020 Moto Guzzi V 85 TT motorcycles.

      The footrest mounting pin retaining clip may break, allowing the pin to disconnect and the footrest to fall off the motorcycle.

      A footrest that falls off while the motorcycle is in motion may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Piaggio will notify owners, and dealers will replace the retaining clips on all four footrest pins free of charge.

      The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

      The tow bolts may break

      The Toro Company is recalling 356 model year 2017-2019 LC922 towable log splitters, models 22618 and 22618HD.

      The tow bolts that secure the log splitter connection to the tow vehicle may fail while the splitter is being moved.

      If the tow bolts break, the log splitter can tip over or detach from the tow vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Toro has notified owners, and dealers will upgrade the bolts free of charge.

      Sprouts Unlimited recalls clover sprouts

      The product may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O103 bacteria

      Sprouts Unlimited of Marion, Iowa, is recalling 4-oz. packages of clover spouts.

      The product may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O103 bacteria.

      Information from the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals indicates that a cluster of E. coli O103 illnesses is epidemiologically linked to the sprouts. An investigation and further tests are being conducted.

      The recalled product is packaged in in pint containers from Sprouts Unlimited with a blue label on the lid. The UPC code 7 32684 00013 6 is stamped on the bottom right side of the label.

      It was shipped to Hy Vee Food stores, Fareway Food Stores and Jimmy John’s restaurants in Iowa.

      What to do

      Customers who purchased the recalled product should discontinue using it immediately and return it to the store for a full refund.

      Land Rover is recalling 3,444 model year 2020 Range Rover Evoques.

      The adhesive bond attaching a metal plate to the headliner can fail after exposure to very cold temperatures.

      In a crash necessitating deployment of side curtain airbags, the metal plate could detach from the headliner and strike vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury.

      What to do

      Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will apply self-adhesive fleece tape to the metal plate and the driver and passenger sides of the headliner free of charge.

      The recall is expected to begin January 17, 2020.

      Subaru recalls model year 2019 Ascents

      The vehicle may lose drive power, posing a crash risk

      Subaru of America is recalling 76,842 model year 2019 Ascents.

      The transmission hydraulic sensor may inaccurately measure the hydraulic fluid pressure.

      If the fluid pressure is measured higher than its actual value, the hydraulic pressure will be reduced. If this occurs, the transmission drive chain may not have the proper tension, resulting in a loss of drive power and an increased risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the transmission control unit. The hydraulic sensor harness will be replaced on vehicles with certain stored diagnostic trouble codes.

      In addition, any vehicle confirmed to have experienced low drive chain tension will have the transmission assembly will be replaced. All repairs will be made free of charge.

      The recall is expected to begin January 24, 2020.

      The Power Assisted Steering (PAS) cooler pipe may be the incorrect size, allowing the cooler hose to detach and leak power steering fluid.

      A power steering fluid leak may cause a loss of vehicle control, or a hazard to following traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.

      In addition, the fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

      What to do

      Bentley will notify the owners, and dealers will replace the PAS cooler pipe free of charge.

      The recall was expected to begin December 19, 2019.

      The vehicle may lose power while being driven

      Subaru of America is recalling 51,613 model year 2019 Crosstreks, Foresters and Ascents.

      The aluminum Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve can separate, allowing engine oil and components of the PCV valve into the combustion chamber, resulting in a loss of power while driving.

      An unexpected loss of power can increase the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the PCV valve free of charge. If the PCV valve has separated and the components cannot be found, the short block engine will be replaced, free of charge.

      The recall is expected to begin January 24, 2020.

      Hallmark recalls jar candles

      The glass jar can break, posing fire and laceration hazards

      Hallmark Marketing Company of Kansas City, Mo., is recalling about 4,500 frosted balsam jar candles.

      The glass jar can break when the candle is lit, posing fire and laceration hazards.

      The firm has received 6 reports of the glass jar breaking, resulting in fire damage to nearby items. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves the frosted balsam soy blend jar green candles with three wicks.

      The candle’s glass jar measures about 5 inches high and 4.5 inches in diameter and has a metal top. Hallmark, frosted balsam and an image of a snowy pine cone appear on the front of the candle.

      Date code 9211D, SKU code XKT1747 and UPC code 763795556991 appear on a white label on the candle’s underside.

      The candles, manufactured in the U.S., were sold exclusively at Norman’s Hallmark stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania from September 2019, through December 2019, for about $28.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund of the purchase price and a $10 Hallmark Gold Crown gift card.
