    The products contain undeclared allergens

Dearborn Sausage Company, Inc., has issued a recall of approximately 1,944 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) wiener products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.

The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the labels of the two products implicated in the recall were inadvertently swapped, resulting in soy, a known allergen, and pork not being declared on the product labels.

The RTE wiener items were produced August 7, 2024. The following products are subject to recall [view labels]:

    • 2-lb. vacuum-sealed packages of “BROOKSIDE BRAND FULLY COOKED NATURAL CASING BEEF WIENERS” that may contain undeclared pork with lot code A0122024 and sell by date 11/05/2024.

MJKSARE high chairs sold at Amazon recalled for entrapment hazard

Only those sold between February and March are being recalled

Tongao, of China, is recalling nearly 5,000  MJKSARE high chairs sold at Amazon because they violate the federal regulation for high chairs. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the chairs pose entrapment and fall hazards.

The recalled high chairs violate the regulations for high chairs, as the leg openings on the high chair are too wide, posing an entrapment hazard to infants. Additionally, the high chairs pose a fall hazard because the tray can become disengaged from the product.

The recall involves MJKSARE high chairs, model H-601. The high chairs fold open and closed and are covered in green padding.

The front tray is green with a small cup holder. There is a tag on the bottom of the seat padding of the high chair with the date of manufacture in the format of “MM/YYYY.” All production dates are included in the recall.

The product was sold online at Amazon.com from February 2024 through March 2024 for about $70.

      What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using the high chair, and contact TONGAO for instructions on how to dispose of the chair and receive a full refund. Amazon is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Bright Builder Fort Kits with flashlights recalled for battery ingestion risk

The kits were sold at Amazon and Intellio Toys

Intellio Toys is recalling 12,400 Bright Builder Fort Kits because of a battery ingestion hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the toy violates federal regulations covering battery-operated toys.

The flashlight on the recalled kits violates the mandatory federal battery-operated toy regulation because the flashlights contain button cell batteries in a compartment that can be easily opened without requiring the use of a common household tool.

When button cell batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death, posing an ingestion hazard. The toy forts were sold at Amazon.com and Intelliotoys.com from December 2022 through August 2024 for between $38 and $49 for the kits and between $14 and $15 for the flashlight only.

The recall involves Intellio Toys’ Bright Builder fort kits, models FKL-BG, FKL-BR, L-5BG and L-5BR. The green and blue, or red and blue, 100-piece fort-building kits contain 45 long sticks, 25 short sticks, 15 connecting tubes, 25 multilink balls, and a pack of five flashlights with button cell batteries.

The flashlights were sold as part of the kit and individually as an add add-on component. “Bright Builder” is on the front of the kit box and “Intellio Toys” is on the side panel. The model number can be found on the bottom right corner of the back of the box. Only Bright Builder fort kits with flashlights are included in this recall.

Intellio Toys has received one report of the batteries coming out the flashlight while handling it. No injuries have been reported.

      What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using the flashlights in the recalled fort kits, keep them away from children, and contact Intellio Toys for instructions on how to receive a refund between $10 and $15, depending on the model.

Consumers can continue to use the fort kits without the flashlights. Button cell batteries are hazardous. Batteries should be disposed of or recycled by following local procedures for hazardous household waste. Amazon and Intellio Toys are contacting all known purchasers directly.

Consumers may contact Intellio Toys toll-free at 888-571-0196 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at recall@intelliotoys.com, or online at https://intelliotoys.com/pages/recall-information?_pos=1&_sid=c95ece1a9&_ss=r or www.intelliotoys.com and click “Recall” at the top of the page for more information.

Hickory Hollow recalls 6,000 pounds of uninspected jerky products

The Food Safety and Inspection Service has designated the recall as Class I

Hickory Hollow Jerky of Eufaula, Ala., has issued a recall of approximately 6,229 pounds of ready-to-eat jerky products. The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) says the products did not receive a federal safety inspection.

The recall received a Class I designation, the highest threat level.

The beef jerky and bacon jerky products were produced on various dates between Jan. 19, 2024-Aug. 21, 2024. The products were produced without the benefit of inspection by two different owners of the establishment.

Ownership changed hands on June 11, 2024. The name of the establishment and the products have remained the same. The products subject to recall are listed here.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. NO. 34550” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and through internet sales.

The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities when it was determined that the establishment continued to produce these jerky products and label them with the USDA mark of inspection after requesting to voluntarily stop FSIS-inspection activities.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

      What to do

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ pantries. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

Consumers and members of the media with questions about the recall can contact Charles O’Neill, current Co-Owner of Hickory Hollow Jerky at 262-745-5103 or HickoryHollowBeefJerky@gmail.com. Consumers and members of the media can also contact Russ Robbins, previous owner of Hickory Hollow Jerky, at 334-695-5238 or hhjerky@gmail.com.
