    Subaru recalls Ascents, Legacys, and Outbacks

    The drive chain may break causing a loss of drive power

    Subaru of America is recalling 198,255 model year 2019-2020 Ascents, and model year 2020 Legacys and Outbacks.

    A programming error in the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) may allow the clutch to engage before the drive chain is completely clamped.

    An improperly secured drive chain may slip and break, causing a loss of drive power and increasing the risk of a crash.

    What to do

    Dealers will reprogram the TCU, inspect TCU data for chain slip, and visually inspect the chain guide. If evidence of chain slippage or damage is found, the transmission will be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge.

    Interim owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 7, 2022. The remedy is expected to be available in April 2022.

    KTM North America recalls off-road motorcycles

    The front brakes may fail, posing a crash hazard

    KTM North America of Amherst, Ohio, is recalling about 3,800 Husqvarna and GASGAS Off-Road closed course competition motorcycles in the U.S. and Canada.

    The retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper pin can fall out, causing the front brakes to fail and posing a crash hazard to the rider.

    No incidents or injuries have been reported.

    This recall involves the following model year 2021 and 2022 Husqvarna and GASGAS off-road closed course/competition motorcycles:

    • Husqvarna 2022 TE 150i, 2022 TE 250i, 2022 TE 300i, 2022 FE 350, 2022 FE 501; and
    • GASGAS 2021 EC 300 and 2022 EC 250 and 2022 EC 300.

    The model number sticker for Husqvarna motorcycles is on its side panels; on GASGAS motorcycles, the sticker is on the side of the rear fender.

    The Husqvarna motorcycles are white, blue, and yellow, with the blue Husqvarna logo on both sides of the shrouds. The GASGAS motorcycles are red with a white GASGAS logo on both sides of the shrouds.

    The motorcycles, manufactured in Austria, were sold at Husqvarna and GASGAS Motorcycles authorized dealers nationwide from May 2021, through August 2021, for between $9,500 and $11,500.

    What to do

    Consumers should immediately stop riding the recalled closed course competition motorcycles and contact an authorized Husqvarna or GASGAS Motorcycles dealer to schedule a free repair, which involves inspecting and replacing the retaining “R” clips on both the front and rear brake calipers.

    Husqvarna and GASGAS Motorcycles are contacting all known purchasers directly.

      BorgWarner is recalling 331 Delphi Aftermarket Tie Rod assemblies, part number TA5323, and size 319 mm.

      The inner tie rod assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can allow the tie rod to detach from the steering rack.

      Tie rod detachment can cause a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

      Bosket Bread Company of Leavenworth, Wash., is recalling 54 units total of 15 bread products.

      The products may contain soy, wheat, milk, sesame, or egg, allergens not declared on the label. No illnesses have been reported to date.

      A list of the recalled products, distributed to Dan’s Food Market, Sage Mt. Foods, and Rhubarb Market in Leavenworth, Wash., and Wenatchee, Wash., may be found here.

      The products, which have a 6-day shelf life if kept at room temperature, are packaged in plastic bags with a black Bosket Bread logo sticker on the front. There is not a UPC, lot code, or date on the packages.

      What to do

      Customers with a soy, wheat, milk, egg, or sesame allergy or sensitivity who purchased the affected products should not consume them. Instead, they should discard the products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

      Yamaha recalls model year 2016-2021 FJR13 motorcycles

      The engine may not accelerate as intended

      Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA is recalling 2,462 model year 2016-2021 FJR13 motorcycles.

      The Engine Control Unit (ECU) programming installed under an earlier recall that was designed to prevent gear damage may prevent the engine from accelerating as intended.

      A lack of acceleration can increase the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Owners are advised not to ride their motorcycles until they are repaired. Dealers will reprogram the ECU free of charge. Motorcycles that were previously repaired under the earlier recall will need to return for the new remedy.

      DRiV is recalling 1,306 MOOG tie rods, with part numbers EV801120 and EV800964, and NAPA NCP tie rods, with part number 2693957.

      The tie rods may not have been heat-treated properly, which could cause them to fail.

      Tie rod failure can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

      Royal Sovereign recalls portable air conditioners

      A faulty drain motor in the air conditioners can ignite the plastic enclosure of the unit

      Royal Sovereign of Rockleigh, N.J., is recalling about 33,570 Royal Sovereign/Royal Centurian portable air conditioners.

      A faulty drain motor in the air conditioners can ignite the plastic enclosure of the unit, posing fire and burn hazards and a risk of serious injury or death.

      The firm is aware of 11 reports of the portable air conditioners catching fire or smoking during use, resulting in over $1 million in property damage, two injuries, and one death due to smoke inhalation.

      This recall involves the following models of portable air conditioners:

      • PAC-3012
      • PAC-3012 RB
      • ARP-3012
      • ARP-3012 KIT
      • ARP-3012S
      • ARP-3014
      • ARP-3014 SC

      The model number is printed on the name plate sticker on the back of the portable air conditioners.

      The recalled portable air conditioners were sold online at Amazon.com and in Sears, COSTCO, Home Depot, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Best Buy stores nationwide from March 2008, through August 2014, for about $290.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable air conditioners, unplug the unit, follow the instructions online at www.Recall-PAC3012.com for properly severing the electrical cord rendering the unit unusable, and contact Royal Sovereign for a pro-rated refund based on the age of the portable air conditioner.

      Failure to unplug the unit could result in shock, electrocution, or death.

      Harley-Davidson Motor Company recalling 2,689 model year 2021 Pan America RA1250S and RA1250 motorcycles.

      The seat base may not be fastened properly, which could cause the hand-hold portion of the base to fracture.

      A seat base that fractures while a passenger is using the hand-hold feature can increase the risk of injury.

      What to do

      Dealers will replace the seat base free of charge.

      Owners are advised to not use the passenger hand-hold feature until the remedy is complete.
