    Kia recalls model year 2020-2021 Stingers

    The fuel gauge reading may be inaccurate

    Kia Motors America is recalling 53 model year 2020-2021 Stingers. A software error in the instrument cluster may cause an inaccurate fuel gauge reading.

    An inaccurate fuel gauge may result in the vehicle unexpectedly running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.

    What to do

    Dealers will update the software free of charge.

    Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 10, 2021.

    Two deaths prompt recall of Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare adult portable bed rails

    Users can become trapped by the device

    Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare of Port Washington, N.Y., is recalling about 564,000 bed assist handles and bed assist rails sold in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

    When the devices are attached to an adult’s bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the rail and the side of the mattress. This poses a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation.

    The firm has received two reports of entrapment deaths associated with two of its Bed Assist Handle bed rails (models 15064 and RTL15073). The deaths occurred in February 2011, and February 2015.

    The name “Drive” and the model number are printed on a label located on the product’s metal tubing. The rails are made of steel tubing either in white or chrome.

    Models RTL15063-ADJ and RTL15073 include black non-slip padding on the grip handle and under-bed frame. Model 15062 features a wooden under-bed board attached to the grip handle. A list of the four models being recalled may be found here.

    The bed rails were sold at medical supply stores nationwide and online at www.amazon.com and www.walmart.com from October 2007, through December 2021, for between $30 and $80.

    What to do

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare to receive a full refund.

    The fuel pump may fail

    Mazda North American Operations is recalling 121,038 of the following vehicles:

    • Model year 2018 Mazda3s & Mazda6s,
    • Model year 2019 CX-3s,
    • Model year 2018-2019 MX-5s, CX-5s & CX-9s, and
    • Model year 2019-2020 Mazda2s.

    The impeller inside the low-pressure fuel pump may crack and deform, potentially causing the fuel pump to fail.

    Fuel pump failure may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

    What to do

    Dealers will replace the fuel pumps free of charge.

    Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 11, 2022.

      The recalled products, including lot numbers 211007MB and 210917MB & UPC and item code 200171-16, were sold at the Wilbur Chocolate Store in Lititz, Pa., and online at Wilburbuds.com between September 28, 2021, and November 17, 2021.

      American Chrome Company recalls hub cap kits

      The hubcap can separate and become a road hazard

      American Chrome Company (ACC) is recalling 1,357 One Piece Hub Cap Kits specifically made for certain Volvo and Mack vehicles.

      The hubcap compression spring can cause the hubcap to separate. A separated hubcap can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

      The earphones can overheat while charging or in use

      E-filliate of Rancho Cordova, Calif., is recalling about 301,800 sets of DEWALT Jobsite Pro Wireless Earphones.

      The earphones can overheat while charging or in use, posing burn and fire hazards.

      The firm has received 61 reports of the earphones overheating during charging or use, including five reports of fire and four reports of minor burn injuries.

      This recall involves DEWALT Jobsite Pro Wireless Earphones with a black and yellow neckband and wired earbuds.

      Manufacture codes included in this recall are D4 1910, D4 1912, D4 2003, D4 2004, D4 2006, D4 2009, D4 2011, D4 2012, D4 2101, D4 2103, and D4 2104. The manufacture code is printed on the left side of the band.

      If no manufacture code is present, the product is included in the recall.

      The earphones, manufactured in China, were sold at The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other electronics and hardware stores nationwide and online at www.cyberguys.com from December 2019, through July 2021, for about $60.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the wireless earphones and contact E-filliate to receive a pre-paid shipping label to return the product and receive a free replacement.

      Halo recalls promotional children’s projector flashlights

      A child can access the button cell batteries, posing ingestion and choking hazards

      Halo Branded Solutions of Sterling, Ill., is recalling about 82,500 projector flashlights (included as part of a care package).

      A child can disassemble the flashlight and access the button cell batteries, posing ingestion and choking hazards.

      The firm has received two reports of children accessing the button cell batteries from the flashlight and -- in one case -- a child required surgery to remove a swallowed battery.

      This recall involves five models of children’s projector flashlights: Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Avengers, and ESPN versions with a key chain on one end and a flashlight projector on the other end.

      The flashlights are red, dark blue, or light blue. They measure 3 inches long and .5 inches in diameter, with the model name imprinted on the middle of the flashlight. There are four button cell batteries with model number LR41 inside the flashlight.

      The flashlights were part of a Disney-branded care package that also includes a tote bag, silicone wristband, playing cards, ink pen, journal, wall decals, and a set of postcards.

      The flashlights, manufactured in China, were distributed by Starlight Children’s Foundation as care packages to hospitals and health care facilities between February 2021, and June 2021, free of charge as a promotional item.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled projector flashlight away from children, stop using it, and contact Halo for a full refund and a pre-paid shipping label to return the projector flashlight.

      Upon return, Halo will send the consumer a $5 gift card that can be redeemed at a major national retailer.

      Kia Motors America is recalling 10,731 model year 2017-2018 Optima Hybrids and Optima Plug-In Hybrids.

      The connecting rod bearings inside the engine may wear prematurely, which can result in engine damage.

      A damaged engine can increase the risk of a fire or can cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Dealers will inspect the engine. If bearing damage is found, the engine will be replaced. Dealers will also install a software update containing a Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS).

      Repairs will be performed free of charge.

      The product is packaged in 8-oz. containers that resemble water bottles, posing a risk of consumption.
