VW recalls 16,000 model year 2023 ID4s

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 16,207 model year 2023 ID4s.

The vehicles may have been manufactured with door handles that let water enter the circuit board assembly, which can cause the door to open unexpectedly when the vehicle is subject to high lateral forces at speeds below 9 mph.

A door that opens unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion increases the risk of injury.

What to do

The remedy is currently under development.

Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were expected to be mailed May 26, 2023, with a second notice sent once the remedy becomes available.
