The engine & electric motor may shut down unexpectedly

Mazda North American Operations is recalling 4,252 model year 2024 CX-90 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

Because of a software error, the engine and electric motor may shut down unexpectedly, which can result in a loss of drive power.

A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.

What to do

Dealers will update the powertrain control module and engine control module software free of charge.

Letters to owners notifying them of this recall are expected to be mailed December 22, 2023.

Owners may contact Mazda customer service at (800) 222-5500 Option 6. Mazda's number for this recall is 6323J.
