    Purina recalls prescription dog food containing excessive levels of vitamin D

    The company says it has received reports of two dogs getting sick

    Nestlé Purina PetCare Company is voluntarily recalling select lots of Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EL Elemental (PPVD EL) prescription dry dog food due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D. 

    Purina said it initiated the recall after receiving two contacts about two separate confirmed cases of a dog exhibiting signs of vitamin D toxicity after consuming the diet. The company said that once they were taken off the diet, both dogs recovered.

    “Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs; however, ingestion of elevated levels can lead to health issues depending on the level of vitamin D and the length of exposure. Vitamin D toxicity may include vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, and excessive drooling to renal (kidney) dysfunction,” the company said in a release.

    The affected dry dog food was distributed throughout the United States by prescription only through veterinary clinics, Purina Vet Direct, Purina for Professionals, and other select retailers with the ability to validate a prescription.

    Bags of PPVD EL with the UPC Code and Production Code below should be immediately discarded.

    Pet owners who purchased bags of the product listed above are asked to immediately stop feeding and throw it away in a container where no other animals, including wildlife, can get to it. If signs such as weight loss, excessive drooling, vomiting, loss of appetite or increased thirst or urination have occurred in their dog while eating this diet, pet owners should contact their veterinarian.

    No other Purina pet care products are affected.

    Veterinary and other retail partners should remove and destroy the affected product from their inventory.

    "We apologize to pet owners and veterinarians for any concerns or inconvenience this situation has caused," Purina said. "As pet experts and pet owners ourselves, the health and well-being of pets is our top priority."

    Harbor Freight Tools is recalling 34,570 Holt Industries Deluxe Manual Fluid Extractor and Dispenser units, part number 56384.

    When the unit is in dispense mode, the pressure relief plug may fail and result in a build-up of excessive pressure.

    What to do

    Harbor Freight will provide a replacement lid ring and pour spout cap with an integrated pressure relief valve, along with instructions, free of charge.

    The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification.

    Kia America is recalling 31,943 model year 2023 Tellurides.

    The wire harness for the second row seat side airbags may become damaged due to a manufacturing error, causing them not to deploy in a event of a crash.

    What to do

    Dealers will inspect and replace, or secure the airbag wire harnesses -- as necessary -- free of charge.

    Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 28, 2023.

      Colgate-Palmolive recalls close to 5 million containers of Fabuloso multi-purpose cleaners

      The products can contain Pseudomonas species bacteria

      Colgate-Palmolive Company of New York is recalling about 4.9 million containers of Fabuloso multi-purpose cleaners sold in the U.S. and Canada.

      The recalled products can contain Pseudomonas species bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas fluorescens, which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water.

      People with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, or underlying lung conditions who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment. The bacteria can enter the body if inhaled, through the eyes, or through a break in the skin.

      People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected by the bacteria.

      No incidents or illnesses are reported.

      This recall involves certain Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaners, which is a multi-purpose cleaner that can be used to clean most residential hard surfaces.

      The first 8 digits of the lot code of the recalled products are 2348US78 through 2365US78 and 3001US78 through 3023US78. A list of the recalled products, along with their UPC and lot codes may be found at www.Fabulosorecall.com.

      The lot code is located on the back of the bottle above the label either directly above or towards the top of the bottle.

      The multi-purpose cleaners, manufactured in the U.S., were sold online at Amazon.com and other websites and at Dollar General, Family Dollar, The Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Walmart, and other major retailers nationwide from December 2022, through January 2023, for between $1 and $11.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Colgate-Palmolive Company for a full refund or a free replacement product.

      To receive a refund or replacement, consumers should take a picture of the product’s UPC and lot code and dispose of the product in its container with household trash. Do not empty the product prior to disposal.

      Nissan North America is recalling 64,732 model year 2018-2023 LEAFs.

      The owner's manual instructions for defroster operation are incorrect, and may result in reduced defroster performance under specific conditions.

      This can limit visibility out of the windshield, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Nissan will mail an addendum with updated instructions on how to operate the defroster free of charge.

      ChildLikeMe recalls children’s robes

      The garments fail to meet federal flammability standards

      ChildLikeMe of Norton, Ohio, is recalling about 5,000 children’s robes.

      The recalled robes fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries.

      No incidents or injuries are reported.

      This recall involves children’s 100% polyester plush fleece hooded robes with a sewn-in side seam belt and two functional front pockets.

      The robes were sold in sizes 5 through 12 years in blue, pink with brown polka dots and white with dinosaurs.

      The two-sided internal side seam label states “Fabric: 100% Polyester Fiber, Washing Instructions Wash by machine, Do not bleach” with the size on one side, and “Do not dry clean, Wash separately, Made in China” on the other side.

      The robes were sold exclusively online at www.amazon.com from June 2021, through August 2022, for between $11 to $17.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled robes away from children, stop using them and contact ChildLikeMe for a full refund. Consumers should destroy the robes by cutting them in half and emailing a photo of the destroyed garment to ChildLikeMe at mtiinns@163.com. Upon receipt of the photo, consumers will be issued a full refund of the purchase price.

      The rearview camera image may not display when the engine is started with a key, due to a design error in the audio display power circuit.

      An inoperative rearview camera display can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

      The product may contain contaminants that can result in the risk of eye infections that could result in blindness.

      There are 55 reports of adverse events to date including eye infections, permanent loss of vision, and a death with a bloodstream infection.

      The recalled product is packaged in a bottle with a safety seal and placed in a carton box Ezricare NDC 79503-0101-15, UPC 3 79503 10115 7; Delsam Pharma’s NDC 72570-121-15, UPC -72570-0121-15.

      The garments fail to meet the federal flammability standards

      Paper Cape of San Francisco, Calif., is recalling about 5,270 sets of children’s pajamas.

      The recalled garments fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries.

      No incidents or injuries are reported.

      This recall involves two styles of Paper Cape children’s pajamas made of 100% Pima cotton: two-piece, long-sleeved Classic Pajamas and Classic Footless Pajama Sleepers.

      The two-piece, long-sleeved Classic Pajamas were sold in 17 prints and colors: navy, heather gray, baby blue, red, pink blush, pink bows, pink stripe, blue stripe, celestial print, blue floral, truck print, airplane print, watercolor floral, light pink, turquoise, pink dot and playground print.

      The Classic Footless Pajama Sleepers were sold in 16 prints and colors: navy, heather gray, baby blue, red, pink blush, pink bows, blue vines print, watercolor floral, light pink, pink stripe, blue stripe, celestial print, nautical print, bunny print, pink dot and playground print.

      Both recalled styles were sold in children’s sizes 12 months through 12 years.

      “Paper Cape, 100% Pima Cotton, Made in Peru,” the size designation as well as the warning: “wear snug fitting, not flame resistant” is printed on the neck label.

      The side-seam label states “Paper Cape, 100% Pima Cotton, Made in Peru” on the front and has care and washing instructions on the back.

      The pajamas were sold online at www.papercape.com and at various children’s boutiques nationwide from November 2018, through November 2022, for between $45 and $58.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately take the recalled children’s pajamas away from children, stop using them and contact Paper Cape for a full refund or a refund in the form of store credit for the original purchase price + 10%.

      Consumers should destroy the recalled children’s pajamas by cutting them in half then send Paper Cape a photo of the destroyed garment. Upon receipt of the photo, consumers will be issued a full refund of the purchase price or store credit for the original purchase price + 10%.

      Two Rivers Coffee of South Plainfield, N.J., is recalling peanut butter single serve hot chocolate pods distributed as "Brooklyn Bean Peanut Butter Cup Hot Cocoa," "Pingo Peanut Butter Cookie Hot Chocolate" and “Cold Stone Peanut Butter Cup Perfection.”

      The products contain peanuts, an allergen not declared on the label.

      No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

      ZLINE expands gas range recall

      The range's oven can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide

      ZLINE Kitchen and Bath of Reno, Nev., is expanding an earlier recall to include 48-inch gas ranges, for an overall total of about 30,000.

      The oven of the gas ranges can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO) while in use, posing a serious risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning.

      The firm has received 44 reports of carbon monoxide emission, including three reports of consumers seeking medical attention.

      This recall expansion involves the oven compartment of ZLINE gas ranges to include those with model numbers RG48, RGS-48, and RGB-48. ZLINE previously recalled gas ranges with model numbers RG30, RGS-30, RGB-30, RG36, RGS-36 and RGB-36.

      The ranges were sold in various door colors including black matte, blue gloss, blue matte, DuraSnow, red gloss, red matte and white matte and multiple finishes including stainless steel, black stainless steel and DuraSnow, a cloudy steel finish.

      The recalled ranges were sold in three sizes, 30 inches, 36 inches and 48 inches. The ZLINE logo is printed on the bottom of the door.

      The model number is printed on a label on the back of the range. For ranges purchased after 2020, the model number is also printed on a label underneath the right side of the range top, visible when the oven door is open.

      Only ZLINE gas ranges with these model numbers are included in this recall.

      The ranges, manufactured in China, were sold at Best Buy, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, The Range Hood Store stores nationwide and online at www.bestbuy.com, www.build.com, www.costco.com, www.homedepot.com, www.therangehoodstore.com, www.overstock.com and www.wayfair.com. The gas ranges were sold from February 2019, through December 2022, for between $2,300 and $6,900.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the oven compartment of the recalled ranges until their oven compartment is repaired. Consumers may continue to use the range tops which are unaffected by the issue. Contact ZLINE to obtain a free in-home repair.

      Conagra Brands of Fort Madison, Iowa, is recalling approximately 2,581,816 pounds of canned meat and poultry products.

      A packaging defect may cause the products to become contaminated without showing any outward signs of contamination.

      There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions.

      The recalled products were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

      The products may contain egg, an allergen not declared on the label. The recalled soup is labeled as Chicken & Gnocchi, but contains vegetable minestrone, which is dark red.

      No illnesses or complaints have been reported to date.

      This recall involves 100% polyester children’s Vaenait Baby children’s robe with a hood, two front pockets and a belt.

      The robes were sold in sizes for 12 months to 7 years in Sky, Gray, Ivory, Pink and Yellow.

      The robe’s side seam label displays “Lot number 58644-88” and “Sep. 2018,” and the neck label displays “Vaenait Baby” with the size designation.
