Nissan recalls model year 2021-2022 Rogues because of seat belt defect

The rear seat belts may not retract properly

It doesn't do much good to have seat belts in your car if they don't work.

With that in mind, Nissan North America is recalling 8,391 model year 2021-2022 Rogues.

The rear seat belts for the left-hand and right-hand rear seats may not retract properly.

This could make them difficult to operate, which might make them impossible to use, and increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Figures released by the Transportation Department show that 51 percent of the 23,824 people killed in car crashes in 2020 were not wearing seat belts.

According to the government, seat belts saved an estimated 14,955 lives in 2017 alone, and could have saved an additional 2,549 people had they been wearing seat belts.

    What to do

Dealers will inspect and replace the rear seat belts -- as necessary -- free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 27, 2023.

Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at (800) 867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC915.

Combination hair dryer and brush poses electrocution hazard

There is no recall but the CPSC says the products should not be used

If you have an AIQRZBI or IGIA handheld hair dryer brush in your bathroom, unplug it and don’t use it again. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns the products present an electrocution hazard.

Despite the threat, there is no recall so far for the products.

According to the CPSC, the hair dryer brushes can lack an immersion protection device that prevents electrocution by shutting off the device if it gets immersed in, or otherwise contacts, water.

The CPSC said it has determined that hair dryers lacking required integral immersion protection present substantial product hazards.

    Sold on Amazon

The products are a combination of a hair dryer and hair brush. They were sold in multiple colors and styles and have interchangeable brush heads.

When turned on, air enters at the base of the handle, a heating element warms the air, and the air exits through openings along the length of the hairbrush.  The body of the unit contains a dial at the base of the handle with settings, OFF, LOW, MIDDLE and HIGH.

The products are designed to straighten, curl and wave hair.  AIQRZBI or IGIA are printed on the hair dryer brush handles.

The hair dryers were sold on Amazon.com for between $30 and $71. Some of the known ASINs associated with these products are identified below.

    • B09KNTBB7B - ICHERRY STORE

    • B08SR7PLPK - Pllaxo Inc.

The Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) is found in the product’s URL bar, which is typically after the product name and “dp.”  The ASIN is also found in the product details section of the listing on Amazon.com under “Additional Information.”
