ACE Solar Reviews

Ace Solar designed the system to require the batteries, which ended up being on backorder. So when they installed the system, only 2/3 of the panels were connected, stating that they required the batteries to work with the inverter (this is important later). The PV (solar) portion of the system is 13.5KW and the inverter they chose was 7.6 kw (again important later).

Ace then installed the batteries (switching them out last minute, and installing them in my garage vs the basement that I had requested) and enrolled me in Connected Solutions. Everything thing seemed to go great, but Ace Solar doesn't monitor the system but also doesn't give the homeowner full rights. They keep the power generation schedule permissions to themselves.

The batteries failed after 3 months, failed to charge, and discharged. Their entire "support" team was on vacation and didn't respond for more than a month. I was told by the service engineers I wasn't the only person that had this problem. So it wasn't until the end of 2022 that the system "worked" but after connected solutions were over, so no way to validate this.

During the winter of 2022 and into 2023, it was noticed the batteries weren't performing as sold. This was because they installed them in my garage, and the batteries don't work at full capacity when in cold weather which is 9 months of the year in New England when nights get to below 60 degrees. Their answer "well you didn't tell us not to", even when the agreed-upon location was the basement.

In 2023, the batteries failed again and Ace Solar kept claiming it wasn't their fault, but changed out wire gauges and configurations for the batteries, even using my home network to make sure the batteries could communicate. But it was found that the inverter was failing to work with the batteries. Ace Solar offered to remove my batteries, and now hook up all the panels to the inverter. What they said they couldn't due at installation. Note that this would mean I would clip as my panels are oversized for the inverter. "oh we changed our guidance". So the first year without 1/3 my panels was a mistake.

Their support team was dismissive and gave contradictory answers, such as batteries don't power the house, the system won't generate that much power, and more. But by the end of 2023, the system was fixed. Again after Connected Solutions had passed, and I had to get the Mass AG involved to get Ace Solar to respond and do any work. But they communicated the system was working and that they would refund me the lost revenue for the first 2 years. They quickly started changing their story to requiring me to waive any and all rights to my warranty, and ACE Solar's involvement.

Well it is 2024, and the system is failing again. When Connected Solutions events happen the system "fails" to join them. So far this year there have been 4, and 4 missed events. And no response from Ace Solar even when communicating with Ace Solar and the Mass AG. So avoid Ace Solar, and you won't be sorry.

Note: Ace Solar has their own employees leave notes, and they often confuse "working systems" with just the solar production part. I.e. They forget they have sold batteries with systems. Also note, they don't have a maintenance history. So every time you contact them, you have to catch them up on what they said in the last email. Even when including the email chain in the support requests. "Oh we thought that was working" is a common response, even when they forgot to show up.
