Freedom solar was great during the selling and procurement process. Once our solar panels were paid for, the nightmares began. Our inverter has worked less than 50% of the time. We never got the credit for the solar use, so our electric bill stayed sky high and weeks would go by before they would come check the panels. Then we did renovations and the design was flawed, so more than half of our solar panels are sitting in our garage. I would take my money back on a heart beat. I regret the investment. It has been a headache all around.

We worked with Joshua during the sign up and he was wonderful. That part was wonderful. Freedom set up the installation schedule and we cut our holiday short to make it back because Freedom said the homeowner had to be there. We were there. When the crew came out, they told us, "I'm so sorry. We can't do it." I said, "What what's going on?" They said, "Well, it was never set up to have the SECO disconnect you. And the reason it was never set up is 'cause the guy dropped the ball and forgot to get the permits." So I told them to get Freedom on the phone. They did that and they finally got that guy. He said, "I dropped the ball." I was pissed because we cut our vacation short. I said I'm done. So then they said, "Well, can we install half of it?" I said, "Don't install a damn thing."

I canceled it and they came back. The district president ended up calling and apologizing. I told him, "The only way you can make it right is if you take $15,000 off and I have it within a week. and I better not have an issue." They did and installed it. The installation guys were phenomenal. I told Freedom that I don't want that other guy anywhere near my account. After that, it was fine. Freedom Solar worked really hard to make it right, and they did. They didn't try to upsell me. I liked the product. Joshua explained it to me. He was really good. At the end after everything was installed, they came and I got on the phone for half an hour, and he explained how to do everything and what to do next, and how to run my Tesla battery and how to sign up with SECO.

Looking into solar energy made sense, and I found Freedom Power when I searched the internet. I talked to several different companies and one would think I was the only person they were dealing with because all the salespeople responded very quickly to any comments or questions I had. They were all very eager to talk to me when I was exploring the option of going with their company. That was my same experience with Freedom Power. I signed up and the installation team was fine.

I've been with Freedom Power since last November, and my experience with them has been good. We had the salesperson as our customer service representative, and when they were in the selling process, they were very responsive, but their post-installation response time is a little slow. For example, part of the deal was they would pay for any early termination fee I had with my previous electricity provider and I'm still waiting for that. I also had a question about the efficiency or how the system was working.

I sent an email to the sales representative, which has been really our only contact with this company and he said he forwarded on to their service department. That was a week ago. I sent him an email today asking when I should hear from them. He hasn't responded. Freedom Power is a little lagging on the post-installation service and I'd advise people to be aware of that. Like any company, their post-installation service is not gonna be the same as the sales process was.

My colleague attended some fair in town where they had a representative from Freedom Power. He talked to them and mentioned the company to me when we were discussing about solar energy services. I was looking for solar after I bought a new house at the time. So, I talked to Freedom Power and that whole process went through. On the technical side, they were great and the professional work they did was really good. Their reps were also able to answer my questions. As an engineer and with a background in electrical engineering, I was aware about things. But from technical side, there are things that I was not aware of and the representative made a good effort to make me understand.

But on the finance side, there were some aspects that I was not aware about or I was not informed by the representative at the time, which I come to know now. It put on a big financial burden on my part. Also, in getting everything set up, I had to go to different iterations of installing stuff and I had to do battery as well as an EV charger. After the first solar system installation, I had to do a little nagging on the people to process the things, which was a little bit of a hassle for me. I had to stay active to make sure that they are doing things at the right time.

I wanted to have a battery backup system as my power is constantly blinking or going out. Also, I wanted to get off the grid. The panels have been awesome. I got an app on my phone for tracking my production and it’s perfect. If I have a storm coming, it automatically starts generating 100% of the batteries. People better hurry up and get solar.

Everything was great with Freedom Solar. They came out and did everything. Next thing I knew, I had solar. I did solar in Washington too, and this was a much faster and smoother operation. From when I inquired about it to when they came out and visited me until they turned the switch on, it was five weeks. Everyone was perfect. Freedom Solar was a little bit more expensive, but I'm paying $230 a month for that and $100 for my electric bill and I am running my AC at full blast 24/7. That’s not bad.

Freedom installed 10 panels and a Tesla Powerwall. It took a long time to get installed, but most of the issues were not really their fault. It was Oncor. Chase was the one who started it with me. He was great from the start till the end. Anytime I had questions, he was able to give me feedback and the information I needed. So, I appreciate that guy. Any time I had a question, they quickly answered. When someone couldn’t answer, they messaged somebody else to get the answers from. I could see their whole message thread too. I can see a lot of their stuff. They’re pretty open like that.

I can see how much power is being used at any moment because of the Tesla app. I believe that’s what allows me to do that. I can see what the solar is doing, what’s coming through the grid. I can see when the battery is being used and when it’s being filled. It’s pretty cool. I’m like, “Who has lights on? It went up 1 kilowatt.”

I checked five other solar companies and decided that Freedom Solar Power would be good for my house. However, I haven’t had a good experience with them so far. I first contacted Freedom back in May, but the project took months to be implemented. When they finally came to install the panels, they realized that they had overestimated my power usage, so they had to cut down the size of the project.

I believe it was 30,000 kilowatt per year, and now we’re down to 25,000. So, we had to renegotiate the cost, which took another week. Then the installers came to do the project. It just kept dragging on and on. There are pipes sticking out the side of my house which look awful. I tried to contact Freedom’s sales department to talk to the guy who sold me the panels. He could not do anything about it except paint the pipes.

After they installed the panels on my roof, they just left. I experienced several leaks afterwards, and they came three times trying to find those leaks. The technicians came today to spray expansion foam on the roof to cover the leaks. They haven’t fixed the roof yet. Freedom needs to change the tiles and redo everything. I also got excess frame on top of my garage, and they said it would be removed. But I don’t have a date yet for that.

When the first team of installers came here to install the frames for the panels, they realized that they had to redo the project, and they trashed my yard. So, my yard was full of cans, screws, anchors, plastic, zip ties, bags and boxes. I had to clean them myself. Sam, my salesperson, is a nice guy, and he tried to address my complaints. The second team of installers also tried to help and were understanding.

Freedom said it would take three months but it’s been six months now. I just want my solar panels to work and want a decent work to be done. I have all these issues now, what happens when I have a technical problem? The panels and battery are here, but I don’t have any solar power yet. I’m also still waiting for authorization from the county. I regretted putting those solar panels in. I have nothing good to say, honestly.

I was interested in getting a solar system put in, and one of my brother's clients said that they got Freedom Solar and they were happy with it. I went with it and I was not happy.

They installed a conduit where they should not have installed a conduit. I told them they needed to move it. And they asked me about every single part. They were very good about every single thing they did, except for where they put conduit in the front of my house, running along the front above the ground. I said, “That ain't gonna work.”

They said, “Well, it's the code and so we're just gonna leave it.” They went out of their way to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be and I would be happy with it, except for that. I'm very unhappy. And they wanted to charge me another $4,500 to move it.

They said, “Well, we didn't put that in the bid.” I said, “Well, you didn't put it in the bid. You gave me an offer. You didn't even know where you were gonna have to run everything anyway, so don't tell me that you didn't put that in there. Even if you didn't, that's your problem.” I'm happy about everything except for the the aesthetics and their inability to make it right after they messed up.

Freedom Solar is installing right now, and the crew on site is good. They showed up on time. They keep me in the loop about what they’re doing and what kind of timeframes. The only thing was that there were just way too many different people reaching out to me, which was confusing. And I never really had a single source of contact throughout the whole process of getting it set up. I’ll get texts from different people. But also, anything that was not right, their team bent over backwards to take care of everything.

As an example of what happened, when the salesperson came out to meet with us and talk about the proposal plan, there was an incentive for us to get our air ducts sealed up, which sounds good. But at the time, when the air duct people came out to do the work, they asked me if I wanted either the upstairs or downstairs unit done. And it was not communicated to me at the time of the proposal that I would only choose one. And so, I called Freedom, and they said it was their fault. So, they took care of it, and they just got the work done.

I chose Freedom Solar because it was referred by one of their clients that I know and trust. So, that was where I kind of got in the loop with it, and that was what got me to talk to their salespeople about the process. But when I started taking a look at it, we had another issue. Because when we were talking about what size system I needed, I gave their salesperson all the data he needed to come up with a plan.

He came back a few weeks later and said we gotta add six more solar panels because we’re not at the percentage we need to be at. And it’s gonna cost us much more money. And I told him that we can back out on this if they mess it up because I already gave him all the information he needed. But Freedom ended up honoring what needed to be done at the price that they quoted me. So, they installed six more panels at the price that they quoted me."

Excellent company. I looked on the internet for solar providers and Freedom Power Solar was a local San Antonio company, and the numbers sounded good. 25-year warranty, and the solar panels are made in Texas. The presentation was a Zoom call.

They actually found some stuff that I didn’t know about with dealing with my utility company, which was a positive thing on their part, over and above what they needed to do. I have a program for my utility company where I was basically doing back calculations as far as what my bill was from last year and what it would be with solar. We’re set up to get readings both from the utility company as well as Freedom Solar, so I can cross-check it with two different programs.

We sat down and said what we were looking for in a system, and he gave us exactly what we were looking for, whereas the other company questioned our choices.

Freedom Solar’s salesperson didn’t pull any punches, and he wasn’t telling us what we wanted to hear. He was just upfront and honest. Solar is not an easy product to understand, and it’s not cheap, so you wanna make sure that you’re not getting scammed.

The other thing that I thought was helpful was the SunGage app, where I was able to do online quotes that gave me ranges, like how many panels they thought we would need based on the information I provided. So, I had three or four there. And then I have neighbors who also have solar. So, I asked them what they paid and their different thoughts. So, I had a good idea of what it should cost us. So, that was helpful, too.

      Thanks for your vote!
