    Potentially hazardous fireworks recalled by importer

    Two brands of reloadable shells can explode prematurely

    Independence Day has come and gone but if you still have some unused fireworks lying around, make sure they aren’t subject to recall. Liuyang Xiaohe Fireworks Manufacturing Co, of China and 13131 Imports LLC, of Las Vegas, Nev., are recalling about 2,400 units of potentially dangerous fireworks.

    The recall involves two different Red Apple Fireworks reloadable tube artillery shell fireworks. The American Glory firework contains 24 shells and was sold in red, white and blue packaging featuring a cartoon depiction of an eagle. 

    The ’Merica AF firework contains six shells and was sold in red, white and blue packaging featuring a cartoon representation of the Statue of Liberty, a hotdog, a popsicle, or an eagle.

    The recalled shell fireworks can explode prematurely, posing explosion and burn hazards to consumers and bystanders. The firm has received 72 reports of fireworks prematurely exploding. No injuries have been reported.

    What to do

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled fireworks and contact 13131 Imports for a full refund. Information on how to properly dispose of the products, or how to return them to the Red Apple Fireworks store where purchased, or to Red Apple if purchased online is at  www.bbinc.co/voluntary-product-safety-recalls.

    The fireworks were sold at Red Apple Fireworks in Valdosta, Georgia; Flint, Michigan, and Pahrump, Nevada, and online at www.redapplefireworks.com from April 2023 through July 2023 for between $27 and $230.

    The recall number is 23-260.

    GM recalls 4,000 Chevy Silverado 2500s & 3500s and GMC Sierra 2500s, 3500s

    The vehicle may experience a total loss of steering control

    General Motors is recalling 3,893 model year 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500s & 3500s, and GMC Sierra 2500s, 3500s.

    The steering gear shaft may fracture and disconnect from the steering arm.

    A steering arm that disconnects may result in a total loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

    What to do

    Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear -- if necessary -- free of charge.

    Owners should receive letters notifying them of this issue starting September 18, 2023.

      Crate & Barrel recalls table lamps

      A loose electrical cord connection can pose a fire hazard

      Crate & Barrel of Northbrook, Ill., is recalling about 600 Avena Mini Table Lamps.

      A loose electrical cord connection in the lamps can pose a fire hazard.

      The firm has received two reports of arcing or smoking when plugging in the lamp. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Crate & Barrel Avena Mini Table Lamps with a handwoven rattan shade with an iron neck, black cord and house two light bulbs.

      The lamp housing measures approximately 21 inches in height and 11 inches in width and 21 inches in depth.

      Model number 601-126 is printed on a label that is on the bottom of the lamps.

      This recall includes only the Avena Mini Table Lamp with model number 601-126.

      The lamps, manufactured in India, were sold online at www.crateandbarrel.com from September 2022, through March 2023, for about $170.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lamps and contact Crate & Barrel for instructions on how to receive a full refund. Crate & Barrel is contacting all known purchasers directly.

      Kia recalls 121,000 Niros and Niro Plug-in Hybrids

      Leaking fluid can result in an engine compartment fire

      Kia America is recalling 121,411 model year 2017-2022 Niros and model year 2018-2022 Niro Plug-in Hybrids.

      Fluid may leak into the printed circuit board inside the hydraulic clutch actuator, which can result in an engine compartment fire and increase the risk of injury

      What to do

      Dealers will inspect and replace the hydraulic clutch actuator -- as necessary -- and install a new fuse free of charge.

      Owners will be notified by mail beginning September 29, 2023.

      Lupin Pharmaceuticals recalls birth control pills

      The product tested low for ascorbic acid and high for a known impurity

      Lupin Pharmaceuticals is recalling recalling two lots of Tydemy (Drospirenone, Ethinyl Estradiol and Levomefolate Calcium Tablets).

      One lot of the birth control pills tested low for ascorbic acid (an inactive ingredient) and high for a known impurity.

      There have been no reports of adverse events. However, if there were a significant reduction in the amount of ascorbic acid, this could potentially affect the effectiveness of the product which could potentially result in unexpected pregnancy.

      A list of the lots of the product, packaged in 28’s blister and distributed nationwide to wholesalers, drug chains, mail order pharmacies and supermarkets, may be found here.

      What to do

      Patients taking Tydemy should continue taking their medication and immediately contact their pharmacist, physician, or medical provider for advice regarding an alternative treatment.

      Porsche recalls 3,000 model year 2024 Cayennes

      The vehicles' rear hazard warning lights and parking lights may fail

      Porsche Cars North America is recalling 2,934 model year 2024 Cayennes, Cayenne Ss, Cayenne Coupes, Cayenne Turbo GTs and Cayenne S Coupes.

      After the vehicle is turned off, the rear hazard warning lights and the parking lights may not illuminate if they are activated within 10 seconds after the gateway control unit shuts off.

      Rear hazard warning lights and parking lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Dealers will update the gateway control unit software, free of charge.

      Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 26, 2023.

      Daikin recalls 62,000 Amana air conditioners and heat pumps

      The compressor can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.

      Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing (DCT), of Houston, Texas, is recalling about 62,500 Amana Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners/Heat Pumps with “DigiAir” modules sold in the U.S., and Canada.

      The DigiAir module compressor can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.

      DCT has received 52 reports of incidents with the “DigiAir” compressor, including ten that resulted in fires. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Amana-branded Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps (PTACs) assembled with “DigiAir” modules.

      DigiAir modules are factory-installed make-up air systems with configurable dehumidification.

      The recalled units are beige and have a model number that begins with PMH or PMC.

      Amana is printed on the unit’s control cover and the model number is on the label located below the control board.

      The air conditioners and heat pumps, manufactured in the U.S., were sold through direct sales and heating and cooling dealers nationwide from May 2015, through January 2023, for between $1,200 and $1,400.

      What to do

      Consumers should contact DCT for instructions on disabling the DigiAir compressor in the recalled PTACs and to arrange for the free repair of the unit by a qualified technician. DCT is contacting all known purchasers directly.

      Maggie's Farm recalls aerosol bed bug & flea killer cans

      The pressurized cans can rupture and expel shrapnel

      Maggie's Farm of Kansas City, Mo., is recalling about 14,500 cans of Maggie's Farm Bed Bug & Flea Killer.

      The pressurized aerosol cans can rupture and expel shrapnel, posing injury and laceration hazards. In addition contents can leak, posing a risk of skin and eye irritation upon contact.

      The firm has received four reports of cans rupturing. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Maggie's Farm Bed Bug & Flea Killer 14-ounce aerosol cans. The cans are green with a red target and bar and Maggie’s Farm logo, UPC: 811249020540, and Lot #: 0101325.

      The UPC is printed on the rear label below the barcode. The lot code is printed on the bottom of the can.

      The aerosol cans, manufactured in the U.S., were sold at Meijer, Big Y, Stop & Shop, Woodman's, and defense commissaries nationwide and online at maggiesfarmproducts.com, Walmart.com, and Amazon.com for between about $6 and $12.

      What to do

      Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product, take a photo of the can and lot code, wrap the product in a plastic bag or several layers of paper, and dispose of it in the trash.

      Consumers should submit their photo of the can, their contact information and written confirmation that they will dispose of the recalled can to Maggie’s Farm at info@maggiesfarmproducts.com to receive a full refund.

      Lucid USA is recalling 5,523 model year 2022-2023 Air vehicles.

      The wiper arm nuts may loosen, causing the windshield wipers to fail.

      Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

      What to do

      Lucid Service Centers will inspect, tighten the wiper arm nuts, and replace damaged parts as – necessary -- free of charge.

      Philips Personal Health recalls 30,000 video baby monitors

      The lithium-ion batteries in the parent unit monitors can overheat

      Philips Personal Health of Stamford, Conn., is recalling about 30,000 Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitors sold in the U.S. and Canada.

      The rechargeable lithium-ion batteries in the parent unit monitors can overheat during charging, posing a risk of burns and property damage.

      The firm has received 23 reports of monitors overheating in Europe, including seven reports of minor injuries. No incidents or injuries have been reported in the U.S.

      This recall involves Philips Avent video baby monitors used to remotely monitor infants. They consist of a baby unit (camera) and a parent unit (monitor) pair. The monitor has a 3.5-inch color screen.

      The recalled models are SCD630 and SCD843 only, manufactured between March 2016, and December 2019.

      The model numbers and production date codes, in day-month-year format, are located on the bottom of the parent unit. The monitors and camera are white. Philips Avent is printed on the front.

      The baby monitors, manufactured in China, were sold online at ToysRUs.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Jet.com, and https://www.usa.philips.com/ from March 2016, through January 2020, for between $120 and $200.

      What to do

      Kia America is recalling 39,765 model year 2023 Souls & Sportages, and model year 2023-2024 Seltos vehicles.

      The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump to overheat.

      An overheated electric oil pump assembly increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

      ECR International recalls gas-fired hot water residential boilers

      The boilers may pose a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning

      ECR International of Utica, N.Y., is recalling about 1,745 gas-fired hot water residential boilers.

      The boilers can be missing the flue inspection cover plate, posing a risk of exposure to combustion flue gasses and a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard.

      No incidents or injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves gas-fired hot water residential boilers with brand names Dunkirk, Utica Boilers, Utica Heating, Pennco, Green Mountain and Columbia and with model numbers DXL-K, MGB-K, UH15B-K, 15B-K, GMGW-K, or MCB-K respectively.

      The boilers are blue and/or gray, 32 inches tall, 13 to 27 inches wide and 26 inches deep.

      The model and serial numbers are located on the boiler rating plate in the front left corner of the top panel.

      The boilers, manufactured in the U.S., were sold at wholesale distributors mainly in the Midwest and Northeast from December 2022, through May 2023, for between $2,000 and $4,000.

      What to do

      GAF Energy recalls Timberline solar energy shingles

      The electrical components can malfunction, posing a fire hazard

      GAF Energy of San Jose, Calif., is recalling about 2,100 Timberline solar energy shingles.

      The electrical components in the shingles can malfunction, posing a fire hazard.

      The firm has received one report of fire and five reports of thermal incidents resulting in property damage, including damage to the roof deck. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves TLS-1 jumper modules and TLS-1 energy shingles that were installed as part of a residential solar energy system.

      The energy shingles are roof mounted and measure about 64 inches by 17 inches by 1 inch. They weigh about 10 pounds.

      The shingles, manufactured in the U.S., were sold at GAF direct sales to and through installing contractors in select states from November 2021, through April 2023. They were sold as part of solar systems that range in price from $40,000 to $100,000.

      What to do

      GAF Energy will replace all jumper modules and check the electrical components of each solar shingle for defects, and repair free of charge.

      The firm has been remotely shutting off affected systems until the remediation is complete and consumers will be compensated for monetary losses due to the loss of solar energy generation during that time.

      GAF Energy is contacting known owners of the energy shingles directly by phone to schedule the repair and replacement of the recalled jumper modules and affected electrical components.

      Consumers who have not been contacted by GAF Energy should contact their installers to determine if their solar energy shingles’ components are recalled.

      True Fitness recalls Showrunner II consoles

      True Fitness of O’Fallon, Mo., is recalling about 600 Showrunner II consoles, with included wireless phone chargers, sold with fitness equipment.

      An exposed area of the wireless charging board can come in contact with other internal wiring, posing a fire hazard.

      The firm has received one report of a fire. No injuries have been reported.

      This recall involves Showrunner II Consoles with wireless phone chargers.

      Product numbers C4P, C4PAE, C4PBE, C4PES, C4PVC, C4PM, C4PMAE, C4PMBE, C4PMES or C4PMVC are printed on a label located on the rear console cover at the connection point of console (console mast) and cardio product base. Consoles will need to be removed from base to view product number label.

      The consoles are 16-inch Integrated Personal Viewing System (“PVS”) LCD Consoles for use with True Fitness exercise products, including treadmills, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, ellipticals and stepmills, created for commercial facilities.

      The model numbers for the fitness equipment include True Fitness Treadmill, Model TC900, True Fitness Stationary Bike, Model UC900, True Fitness Climber, Model VC900 and True Fitness Elliptical, Model XS1000.

      The console containing the wireless phone charger with an uncovered mounting bracket is a component part of some True Fitness exercise equipment.

      The consoles, manufactured in China, were sold at specialty fitness stores, distributors and direct sales to commercial clubs and gyms nationwide from September 2021, through September 2022, for between about $5,500 to $14,900.

      What to do

      Commercial facilities with these recalled products should immediately turn off and unplug the exercise equipment containing the console and contact True Fitness to receive a free replacement console.
