Rating is based on customer service. The customer service I've gotten from them has been fantastic. As long as you are communicative with them, they seem to try to give you some grace. No, I don't know much about the actual service itself because I need electricity, and I'm paying for electricity. And maybe it could be better, maybe it could be worse.

Well I learned the hard way, but Ambit Energy, somebody told me, is actually a pyramid scheme with three main players at the top. Don't know if that's true, but please folks, do not absolutely do not use this service. I live in a 790 square foot apartment, and by March, the bill was for $101. When renewal gave up, I told them to take a hike. The final bill they sent me was for $155 for only 108 kilowatt hours to total $155. They're playing tricks. I will be contacting my law firm as well as the public utility commission, hopefully initiating a class action lawsuit for these vultures. Don't sign up for any of their gimmicks.

I haven’t received a bill for the past 3 months then I start receiving disconnect emails. I have been telling them for months to send me a bill so I know how much I owe and when I owe. Today my electricity was shut off and since I haven’t received a bill I didn’t realize my bill was even due. In the beginning it was fine receiving bills on time. Now it’s been the guessing game. 100000% will not be using them again. I’ve been on the phone begging them to work with me because I currently have no money to get my lights turned back on. They refuse to work with me even though I’ve been asking for months for them to send me a bill before it’s due so I can schedule my bills accordingly.

If anyone is considering Ambit Energy RUNNNN! THE CALL REPS ARE AXX HOLES. My current bill is $ 1700 after just giving them $650.00 in Feb..I was supposed to been on a payment plan but instead of the 650 going towards 1700 they constantly add late fees and crazy amounts THEN THEY GENERATE A BILL FOR A NEW MONTH ADDING IT TO WHAT YOU OWE. CRAZY HUH!?. This is one company that should be shut down!!!! 0/10

It is a cheat and a trap. Poor customer service. Solar Panel energy credit is only a few dollars and the remainder is kept in the bank for them. A high base charge, and cancelled service as they are not crediting the full amount of the energy credits.

After having a rough day, I came home to no electricity. I called Centerpoint to see if they had an outage, and I found out through center point that someone use my address to get their lights cut on, but realized the mistake and reversed it. Ambit cut my lights off. I got no email no phone call to verify anything mind you. I literally just paid the light bill. I talked with the lady and she said are you sure you didn’t disconnect your lights like why would I pay the bill and disconnect my lights and sit in the dark??? Lost food and we had to sleep in 30° weather me and my son.

The lady said she’s gonna have it back on within three hours. My lights never came back on until 8 o’clock in the morning. My son woke up very sick from sleeping in the cold. I asked the lady if I would be compensated for their mistakes and I say mistakes because this is not the first time it has happened. She said she can’t do anything, but discount me for next month. I’m not sure why they don’t verify anything every company I’ve have to go through. I’ve always had to verify and I was told they don’t do that because it takes too long. I think it’s ridiculous.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. If you value your budget and if you would rather not be gaslit, go with another energy provider. The less energy we use the more they charge. Our usage chart (hourly/daily/weekly) are extremely inconsistent with our usage. I check them. November we finally saw a drop from over $600 to $239, mind you the last month 1/2 we aren't running a/c and very minimal heat because we haven't needed it. We don't use lights AT ALL during daylight hours and our December forecasted bill is projected to be over $500!! Hello! How?!?! Just run, do not sign a contract with Ambit Energy. Also, check the amount of lawsuits they've had filed against them for fake and phony usage charges and slamming unknowing people into unlawful contracts. How are they allowed to continue doing this to people?!?! Literally, providing for my family as a single mom is difficult enough.

Stay away from Ambit Energy at all costs. Recently when my rates via the provider for delivery charges (Centerpoint) by 33% I didn't get as much as a call or email informing that fee would go up from 90-120 dollars within a month. Currently 30 mins on the phone with them and poor CSR could only explain to me why it has gone up but just keeps repeating the same line telling my what those charges are for (duh but doesn't explain the hike). Management is clearly hiding from the consequences of their own actions. Bad people who should be in jail imo.

BUYER BEWARE!! After being an excellent customer of AMBIT Energy for 3+ years, I contacted AMBIT to inform them I was moving to another company due to their high rates. Luis, Customer Service Rep lied to me and changed my plan to a higher rate along with a BASE RATE, in which I did not have on my previous plan. I received a $600 energy bill and I was furious. After contacting AMBIT again, I spoke with Nicholas (in the Caribbean), Melissa (Manager in Dallas, Tx) who would not remedy the problem after I lodged my complaint. I requested a call from higher Management from AMBIT ENERGY, who contacted me with no solve to the trickery I received from Luis. This company only wants you to RENEW your plan and to accept dishonesty and POOR Customer Service. Don't get tricked by AMBIT ENERGY like I did and get stuck with an astronomical energy bill!!!

Ambit Energy was the electric service recommended by my apartments when I moved in, but within a few months they immediately upped my price per kWh, without letting me know, to over $.20/kWh. When I go to cancel (cancelled September 7th 2025), I take a look at my bill and it’s over $500. They charged me for a full month of September (it’s only the 16th as I’m writing this review) AND 6 days of usage for October 2025, it’s not even October yet. I am so extremely displeased with this company as a whole and to be completely honest it just seems like a huge scam. When I tried to talk to customer support about this, nothing was changed and so now I’m either forced to pay a bill that is falsified or take a hit to my credit.

I won't ever use them again... I'm on disability and have a kid that has asthma. My bill was due and I called to try to set up an arrangement so my lights won't get disconnected. I asked if I paid a certain amount could that borrow me some time before I get disconnected because I was waiting on other funds. I was told yes and they took the payment and still disconnected then when I called back highly upset they told me 3 different prices to turn them back on plus they add other surcharges on your bill as well.... I will never refer nobody to the them and to top it off. I was a Ambit consultants and quit that as well when they wouldn't change my bill to a more affordable and because I'm disabled it hard to just jump from one company to another being on a fixed income and high deposit fees.

I was an Ambit customer from March 4, 2011 through Aug. 2, 2025. Before I could get electricity from them I was required to pay $100 refundable deposit. As long as I gave 30 days notice they said I would get my deposit refunded. I auto paid the bill for 15 years. I called 45 days in advance and gave the barely English speaking person my new mailing address. The call took over 30 minutes because I could barely understand her. After moving they continued to send me mail to my OLD ADDRESS! I called yesterday to give my new address for the FOURTH time. I couldn't understand the Rep again! After 20 mins of not resolving my issue, I asked to speak to someone who spoke better English. I was transferred to another Rep who kept repeating herself. Not ROBO.

I kept telling her, "YOU NEED TO CORRECT MY ADDRESS because I have a $100 deposit," and that I am expecting a refund check. She said I had NO DEPOSIT. Their records online only go back to 2022! They have been bought and sold. Then they tried to tell me MAYBE my $100 was waived?! I KNOW IT WASN'T because at the time I had to hock some jewelry just to pay the $100 deposit! These people are ALL OUTSOURCED EMPLOYEES in customer service. I'm still going to fight to get my $100 back. Even if I have to get 4 ON YOUR SIDE to do it. They buy energy from ONCOR so you will be billed by 2 electric companies on your bill! This is a pyramid scheme! Do not get Ambit Energy because they will over charge you and steal your hard earned money!

Ambit Energy is a corrupt company that makes money by scamming customers. My previous bill was for $60.31. The payment did not go through the credit card. I updated the credit card and the payment went through. On the new bill I have miscellaneous charges of electronic processing fee $2.50, return charge of $25.00 and returned payment of $60.31. So I paid the bill of $60.31 twice, plus an electronic processing fee and return charge because the credit card did not go through the first time. Corrupt prostitutes that make money on extortion fees.

Last month my bill was 683.00 and this month my bill is 1583 and they said I have to pay 783 otherwise my lights will be cut off. I live in a two bed apartment and don’t know what to do because they won’t work with me and they placed a switch hold on my account which is crazy. This company is a true scam. Ambit Energy is a MLM scam company. They prey on young people moving into their first apartment or home. Generally if you move into an apartment they offer you ambit energy, I had always had all bills paid apartments up to this point so I thought nothing of it. A month goes by I’m supposed to be paying 15 cent per kilowatt. My bill comes in for a 1 bedroom apartment 700 sq ft and it’s $300. Considering my girlfriend and I work we are rarely home. The ac doesn’t have fluctuations. I didn't understand why it was so high. I call them and they sign me up for a new contract. High energy usage contract. Supposedly we were gonna be paying 14 cent per kilowatt then after we reached a certain threshold it would be 12.5 cents per kilowatt.

My bill comes down to about $230 still really high but manageable. Fast forward about 6 months. My bill is now $500. Between all the hidden fees they tack on I go check my plan on their website and it says I’m paying 18.5 cents per kilowatt. Not at all what I signed in my two year contract. They’re a scam. Not to mention if your a new renter in your first apartment, your apartment makes a commission on getting you to sign up. It’s a part of the MLM scheme that they have cooked up. Absolute scam of a company.
