The worst possible company in the whole world! In 13 years I moved around the world I didn't have as many issues as with this company, they don't resolve any problems you have with their service either. There is no date to schedule the payment, they change it every month and refuse to make fixed Date as a company policy. Every time you call (why is that many problems that we had 8 conversations in 6 months?!?) They tell you different information! I'm trying to cancel it, even that can't be done in 4 days, but they will leave a day after I move out?!? That's not all! They automatically take the last payment off your deposit and give you-listen to this- 24h to make any complaint to the amount!!! Just take any other service!
In the first apartment me and my GF didn't have issues until we moved. My GF messaged someone in the website about moving and trying to finalize info. The person left the chat out of nowhere so it never got finalized but it's their file that it happened, but we still had to pay electricity for the old apartment an extra 3 months while we also had to pay the current apartment complex $300 for OUR Electricity. When I called Customer Service, the dude was no help, saw the message they had with my GF, and when I was telling him about how we moved 3 months ago before I called. He just kept saying, "you requested to change places this month" and when I asked if he can help out with the amount that's due Today ($255). He said he can help set up a payment plan.
I originally had Ambit in my old apartment unit and I had no issues at all. It wasn’t until I moved to my new unit when I realized how unprofessional this company is. I called to change my address and was told the correct address. A few months later I come to realize that one of their representatives put the wrong address on file so I was paying electricity for an address I never lived in! I first called them for a reimbursement on the 1st of September. It is now the 10th of October and I have been dealing with issue for over A MONTH. They still haven’t received my reimbursement and they’ve been asking for documents which I have already sent THREE TIMES. After this lease, I will NEVER do service with Ambit EVER again!!! This is all over a mistake they did!
I couldn't figure out how to login into my account so I called to pay the bill. The lady on the phone told me it 121 and I gave her my card. An hour later they turned my power off. Charged me a reconnect fee and I had to wait almost 24 hours to get power again. They straight up lied to me when I was clear about what needed to be paid... Then spent another hour on the phone trying to get it all figured out to be told it was my fault... When they send the paper bill to the wrong address and never emailed me a bill and told me the amount was 121, I paid all to screw me... Stay far away from this trash company.
Ambit Energy they charge too much, won't reveal properly during initial connection, I was not satisfied as their charges are 21 cents + taxes and unnecessary charges, there are suppliers where you will get it for just 14 cents only including everything + delivery... These people they charge too much, I had disconnected within 2 weeks and they charge 200$, they are trying to force everyone to stay with them, it's not correct the choice should be optional. I will try everything to report this to higher management.. Choice should be there to disconnect at least for 30 days. I called customer care also no use as I am new to Texas, wasn't aware of this kind of cheating here...
My roommate lost their job because the business she worked for shut down due to the pandemic. I couldn't afford everything on my own so I called Ambit to get assistance. One agent said if I pay $150 first, then we could qualify for an assistance program. Lies!!! They had no such thing even after paying $165 and speaking to a supposed manager. They charge a fee for LITERALLY everything (pay by phone, pay thru an agent, etc). They give no grace for anything even if you're going through a hardship.
They are absolutely terrible!!!! Open my account and I was in shock. My jaw literally Drop to the floor!!! $335 for one month for a 2 bedroom apartment. Called them and she started giving me the excuses, I told her I wanted to speak to a Manager and she told me she’s the only manager, and that no one else can help me! Open my account 2 days later after I said, "Ok I’ll pay" and Saw a $610. Now they trying to charge me triple!!!! Do not use this company. Disgusting behavior. Lousy customer service will rob you blind! And now I want Disconnect and they wanna charge me $199. So total amount of almost over $1000. If you want to spend your money for no reason just go to the mall and shop till you drop. Don’t spend it for air!!!! Will never ever use them again.
I have been dealing with a nightmare. Despite all of their rising fees and mistakes, I've never missed a payment in 10 years. I called to have service disconnected at the end of June as I was moving and set up a new plan for my new apartment. They are claiming I didn't disconnect the old service (which I absolutely did) and my auto payment last month went to pay a bill on the old place for a month of electricity that I didn't use as I didn't live there instead of the new service (which I never received a separate bill for). Now my new service is past due.
I was told that they were transferring the payment to my new account but it wasn't done. So I called again but now they're telling me they can't transfer it because it was already applied to a another bill that I owe (again, that was for electric I didn't use). Now, I'm being forced to pay $155 for the old apartment bill and $187 for the new one all for the month of July. I'm one person and can't afford to be scammed like this. They'll do anything to get more money out of you. Do not use these people if you have another choice.
Everytime I turn around there is new charges. So I call to make a payment plan since we are paying over $400 a month and I get the mail and agreement in the mail 3 days later we get a shut off notice. I call to find out what is going on and the SUPERVISOR tells me they messed up and they have to make another payment plan even though we already made a payment on this plan. I have every letter and agreement that we made and on Monday I am contacting the Texas utility commission with all my proof. These companies shouldn't be able to screw people over like this. So now I have to go without my medicines because I had to pay the bill after the agreement they made.
My roofers tore my electrical service from my home. Steps weren’t followed by my electrician but Ambit really came thru for me. Accidents happen and when we’re looking sad Ambit came thru for me. I have M/S they didn’t even know and not aware and the heat adversely affects me especially with our 100 plus degree days
If you have any other options please do not choose this company. I have not been using them for over four months now and just received a Major Derogatory on my credit for a payment that they did not display or notify me about. I contacted the credit bureau and they said it was for a cancellation fee that I paid in my final payment to them back in January 2022.
In my Ambit portal as of 5/26/2022, the "Total Amount Due" says "$0.00". (I also have photos that I submitted in my rebuttal) I am confused about how I am supposed to pay a $30.71 payment that I did not know about... I went to hit pay bill to see if I needed to drill through and maybe it would show up in there but again, NOTHING. So now I am dealing with the credit bureau due to the incompetency of this company and their inability to be transparent with their customers. You cannot pay a bill that does not show up as owed on your account. Fix this for future customers, please.
Do not give them your business!! They’re scammers. I tried to set up my account with them a year and a half ago, they got a ton of info wrong, and overcharged me for time I did NOT live in the apartment. I called to cancel my service today after trying before and being disconnected. Every time I call, they say a different name is attached to my account.
Today they told me the name on my account was “Bill”. After all my troubles, they still want to charge me for an extra week after I moved out of my apartment, and after speaking to a supervisor, charged a $5 over the phone payment that he said could not be voided even after I explained how many errors they’ve made and how upset I was. Horrible company. MLM. Do not sign up with them! They will choose extra pennies over loyal customers and overall customer satisfaction. Rude, distasteful, and arrogant attitudes from the representatives. Wish I knew better before I was scammed in to this company. They should be ashamed of themselves!
The Ambit site has had some major glitches in the last couple of months. When I went to pay my bill by using my saved bank account, the page froze as if the payment didn't go through successfully. I went through the payment process again this time typing in my card. It charged me twice so I called the next day when it appeared in account activity. They said they could only send me a check in 7-14 days or I could just let it roll over. As I had a full month before my next payment, I declined this offer to let it roll over. I know that refund to my card was 100% an option for any major business and sending a check or "pre-paid card" isn't ethical business practices.
I talked to a supervisor who finally said I would have a refund in 24 hours. It never came. I called today and apparently the supervisor decided to INSTEAD go ahead and apply the amount to my account which I had specifically declined. Every call has an automated message saying that the call will be recorded for "customer satisfaction"... They refused to go back and listen and just kept saying nothing was possible at this point because the amount had been applied to my account already. I have gone ahead and reported this incident to the Attorney General. I have to switch energy suppliers in a month and that will be a hassle well worth it.
Signed up for auto pay, never worked before so it’s my fault for not learning my lesson about how incompetent this entire company is. I came home from work at 4 power turned off while clothes were in wash, no email, no letter in the mail. I call them and pay my bill by 6 pm, they said power would be back in 2 to 4 hours. It’s now 3 am, I’m freezing and my clothes for work tomorrow are locked in the washer. I looked around and this is all not normal behavior for a power company and I feel like an idiot for even being with them, oops. Stay away from these guys at all costs. Customer service is about as bad as you’d expect, no one I’ve talked to from Ambit knows anything but their script. They are also all foreign and kind of hard to understand. The whole situation is terrible and I already contacted a new power provider, I am new to this and young but I am glad I went through it now I guess.
I am a Ambit energy user and had the worst customer experience with getting my electricity turned off. Please do not use them because they overcharge and they will not cut off the electricity after your contract ends.
We were talked into Ambit by a friend. We were guaranteed a 3% savings, however, a year into it we were paying more than our local electric supplier. When we called, they said we would need to stay with Ambit until the end of our term and they would then send a check for the difference. We reluctantly stayed. We received a letter telling us to call them ten days before our term ended to pick a plan. We called to tell them we weren't going to renew and she said they would send a check. After not receiving a check in eight months, we called and they are now saying it was canceled four days before our term ended. They played with the dates so we wouldn't be entitled to the check. When we told them we didn't want to renew our plan, we thought it would ride out to the end. However, they played with the dates so they didn't have to honor their contract.
There are hidden fees included and the customer service can't provide you with any legal document for the extra charge, I'd scheduled 8/30/2021 to stop my service forever. Copied this from my bill> Current miscellaneous adjustments: $ 62.47. Please don't let this company scams you too.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Horrendous customer service. I've been trying to be patient but I've been trying to correct an issue since July 1, and it is August 18. They continuously give you the run-around which diminishes patience after 2 months. I was supposed to move into an apartment but my complex moved me to a different unit. So that same day, I called and asked if I could move my service to the new unit. They happily said yes and that no additional fees would apply. But then, I received voicemails from them saying I owed fees. One of their managers contacted me and said to disregard those notices because I should not be charged that and an "investigation" would be opened.
Later, they called saying someone else moved in that apt so that's why the investigation closed, pay the fees. I do not have control over who moves into that other unit! Then another representative tried telling me the fees were because I left Ambit. I still have them in my new unit, they can check their records. They even had me email some customer service place that never responded back. They kept saying we'll open a new investigation but nothing comes of them. I finally gave in and paid the fees today, for an apartment I never lived at, because I will not let them ruin my credit but it was extortion. I just wanted to warn future customers to find a better company!! I wish I had.
I have been with Ambit for years on and off when they are available in my area. At the end of my last contract I didn’t renew because I was looking to move and didn’t know what area. My house is only 1,200 sqft and I do not keep it down in the 60’s. My bills have been outrageous, far more than I have ever paid in my life. I’m using 1000-1200 kWh and my last 2 bills have been over $200 a month. I enrolled with another provider and Ambit called me asking what they could do to keep me! I laughed and said nothing and explained the reason, the rep said if I ever changed my mind give them a call! Well, I’ll tell you NOT a chance in HELL. My last bill was almost $300! Are you out of your fricken mind! Stay clear of this company!
Updated on 03/22/2022: First off Ambit energy misled me about how much i would be paying. Then when I called and cancelled they said it was effective within 1-2 billing cycles. 2 cycles went by....still not cancelled. I called them and cancelled again.. 2 months later I get a bill for double the price /kw hr. of previous bill still with Ambit. I have concluded that this is most likely a type of scheme they have To string customers along because there is apparently nothing I can do about it except get a lawyer involved. Being a business owner myself, it burns me up when I see a company operating in a dishonest way.
Original: I decided to save some $ so I saw that Ambit had a plan to get commercial electric supply rate at .0295 kw. So when I called to sign up they told me that the rate I saw on the NYSEG website was only for the first month... OK... so that price was falsely advertised. But I still signed up. I have documentation on this. First bill came in the mail .065/kw. I called and they said I have to call the electric company. Called the electric company and they said I have to call Ambit. I feel this was just a ploy to get me to switch. No accountability, no one gives a crap at Ambit or Nyseg, they just pawn you off to another phone operator.
Ambit had a technological glitch in January that caused them to delete our auto payment information. They did not try to reach out to us about this (except one phone call with no voicemail), or fix the issue on their side. After one month they shut off our power due to lack of payment. When we called it took them 4 hours to turn it back on. We tried to complain, and the service representative spoke from a script, could not help us or offer us any compensation except to reimburse the late fees, which were their fault to begin with.
Eventually, they offered us a credit on our account, but could not tell us that they would take this complaint seriously, or had any plans to keep this from happening in the future. This company does not seem to care about the customer, and only wants to squeeze as much money out of us as they can. We are switching companies as soon as our contract is up (It also has a $200 late fee).
Ambit Energy is my electric provider for my office building. I recently received the latest statement that said my payment was late. I had set it up on autopay with a credit card. I called and they said it was a glitch. My American Express was fine and I never had any problems with it. I always pay the balance so it wasn't my card. The rep couldn't explain why it didn't go through, nor why no one called me. By the way, I am unable to log in to my account and they can't reset it. I will be changing this company when my contract is up.
Beware of this company. We stared with them and after 6 months we decided to cancel their service and move from that address. They told us that it would take a month for them to cancel the service. After that, we started to receive letters with bills that we already paid. For some reason now we owe more than $700 in past bills. Which is impossible since we already paid them and moved out of that address. We called customer service and the representative (a lady) we talked with was very rude, angry and yelled at us. Unacceptable for a company to have this kind of employees. She didn’t help us at all and tried to threat us saying they will send us to collection agencies and our credit score will suffer. Such behavior is very shameful. They are a scam. Don’t let them get you. I’ve read other reviews online of people experiencing the same situation. Please be careful if you already have this service.
I moved to Texas and was unaware that you had to choose a Electric provider. If I knew I would have done some research on providers and read some reviews. I have canceled them due to their over charging rates and have been trying to get an overpayment refunded. This process has been tough, to say the least. It has been over a month since my first request and they acknowledge my first call but admit nothing was done, but can not speed up the process to get me my refund to me. Do yourself a favor and do not choose Ambit Energy to be your Electric Provider.
The online portal is poor. I had set up a Pre-Auth payment from my credit card so I wouldn't have to worry about going into the online portal to make payments. The website confirmed I was enrolled. A month later I find out that I am receiving late payment fees because for some reason I am not enrolled even though the website confirmed that I was. Customer service was not able to refund late fees or commit to listening to my situation or change the portal. Obviously some technical issues here.
They will cheat you out of every dollar they can. Their customer service agents do not understand how to provide accurate information, they are extremely slow, and they have tried to change my payment due date 3 times to charge me late fees. The list could go on... I can't rank them low enough.
Ambit started off OK, stating their electric rates were the cheapest. Sucked us in for a year commitment and it took multiple calls on the phone to run away from them after after the 1 year commitment, calling to cancel service and having to follow up 58 days later to find out they never cancelled service. Somehow, they were able to attempt to invoice me $56 after the requested disconnect. Quick break down. $56 balance, $40 deposit being taken out of that. $10 fee for disconnect notice that they did not do their job on. Leaves a balance of $6 on the account. I asked them to zero this out of 1 year of 100% on time payments and they said NO. Please make sure you run away from this company.
I been with them for months now and if your power happen to go out it take them 24 hours to bring it back on. I had things on the refrigerator that went bad. Worst part is they don’t tell you this when you signed up with them.
Ambit Energy used to be a great company as our electricity provider. We've been with them for over 10 years. At the beginning of the year, they didn't see that we had paid our bill, and they shut off our electricity. They apologized and within a couple of hours it was turned back on. We let their mistake go as we all make them. They have turned into a sloppy energy provider with higher than normal rates. In order to change to a different plan within their company, the customer must pay the $199 cancellation fee. We will be paying that, but switching to another provider. Save yourself the trouble and do NOT chose Ambit Energy. They're not what they used to be. Horrible customer service and policies.
I have always been contacted before any change has been made. They never sent me a letter or called me to inform me I was being put on a higher plan. They never contacted me. They put me on a higher rate with a year's contract that I did not agree to.
