My ambit bill went from 70.00 to 300.00 and when I called them they told me that my electricity probably went up because it was a scorcher summer and the AC was causing it to spike. Well I informed them my AC was broken for 4 months and I had been gone for 2 weeks with everything unplugged. I asked them to come out and read the meters with me but they never did. They actually got away with theft in my book!!!

Ambit Energy is a legitimate scam. I have a one bedroom apartment and they charge me about $200 for power. I didn’t use and heat it ac for all of December or November and was traveling for 4 weeks in the 2 months and my bill was never below $165. Not to mention the $200 switching fee. This company should be sued.

Ambit Energy is totally unprofessional in approach when returning the deposit amount of customer. Initally they told me the deposit amount of $260 is mandatory which customer has to pay and will be return after 12 months payment done. I had done the payment on 1st of every month without any delay and after 14th month I requested to return the deposit amount. They are playing the trick. The deposit amount cannot be return until another 12 months.

Ambit is not professional at all. Doug text me about service instead of calling me, Lisa calls repeatedly and left a scare tactic voicemail on my phone. If this is the way you all do business I’m afraid to do business with you! I will not and will not advise anyone else to. I read reviews after all the text, vm, calls and there wasn’t anything appealing about your service, so No thanks!!!! Payless Power has been my provider since 2021, so I will continue with them! I've had them for two years, very unruly and not willing to assist. Be careful when aligning your start and end dates of service as they are RIGID. Pretty sure I'll be paying for someone else's electricity for a month after I move out. When I moved in they couldn't get my power on, (I believe it was registered in someone's name) so me and kitty were just in the cold the first day or two.

Honestly this company is scam, make sure to look over what they sign you up for. I specifically told them I didn’t want any contracts they still signed me up for a contract and asking me to pay a $200 cancellation fee. I had to switch company they overcharge on the bills every month. Do not recommend at all and I noticed they do this to most of their customers.

I do not recommend at all! With my first contact for my small one bedroom apartment the highest bill was 250! Which I thought was high for the size of my apartment and I was hardly here! I was wrong, now my monthly bill has jumped from 500, 600 now to 800, I call and they’re so rubbish at customer service and the only answer they have for me is “it’s your useage” and when I tell them literally nothing changed on my end power wise. They still say the same thing over “it’s your useage” and they make it impossible to leave. Not only do they want you to pay the robbery bill, but also 200 to get away from them on top of that! I’m at my wits' end with that company.

Terrible, terrible customer service. They don't answer the phones and have you on hold until you give up. Their rates are high too but are cheaper compared to other Texas energy companies. I'd rather pay more for reliability than pay less for poor service.

Do not sign up with this company!!! They will make it impossible to cancel a service with them. I have been trying to cancel my service with them for months and every time I call, they have some excuse. Other providers can't do anything until Ambit will let you go so basically you are stuck.

Am I able to give a 0? They have no clue what “confirmation” means. I was doing auto payments. They will proceeded to send a confirmation email with a confirmation number to then reject my payment 5 days later. Then not notify me until the day before they were going to shut off my power to let me know that the payment did not go thru. They need a dictionary.

Never, ever, ever, EVER choose this shady electricity service provider! They are way too expensive and will quote you on plans that are much higher on your actual bill than what you were promised as a fixed rate. Horrible customer service and rude, they don’t care about their customers at all! They don’t give extensions and will not look into handling a real issue with your service or meter readings if problems arise! They are money hungry and Gid forbid you fall into any real financial struggles! They don’t and will not care! They expect you to find the money and pay regardless of your dire situation!!! They disconnect you like clockwork the morning after your bill is due beginning at 7 am!! Run far away from Ambit Energy! If you live in a small apartment your bills will be high as if you live in a 2 story house with 10 kids!!!! Choose any other service provider besides them!!!! I would rate them 0 stars if I could!!!!

I've been with Ambit for a while now since I been living this apartments, and let me tell you we use to get our bills up to $260. Now our bill is up to $800 when we don't use that much electricity like wow. Are we paying for for the rest of the apartments complex or what? It's crazy?! Also today our power was turned off because they couldn't understand we couldn't pay our bill on time. We always on time. Never late until today. These people don't care if we have small kids in the house and super hot in this apartment with no AC and gets getting irritated for being hot. We already paid the bill and now they told me that my power be back in 4 hours??? Like are you kidding me right now! UGHH... Very disappointed in Ambit Energy for making us wait this long to have our power back on!

Where to start? The unexplained ridiculously high bills? The fact that this company is a known MLM? The fact that our power is continuously shut off even though we pay our bills on time every month? Or the fact that this company has double charged us multiple times, STILL shut our power off, and then only refunded us after we “provided proof” that they charged us twice? My recommendation is to use literally any other electric company. You see the other reviews here. Save yourself the headaches. The shut off our power for days at a time with no warning in the hot Texas summer.

Ambit Energy was a company and a service that my mother used in Texas six years ago upon her death. I assisted my mother in paying her electric bill due to her disability and not being able to afford the high energy prices in Texas. After my mother died, it seems that Ambit Energy continued to supply service to the residence even after the family closed out the account. Six years later I received a thank you email for a payment of a $1000.00 that I did not make or authorize from Ambit Energy.

I live in a household of four that is seldom home. I don't understand why our bill keeps getting higher and higher. My recommendation for this company is not to get it. My last two bills have been higher than $400.00 and increasing each month and their hidden fees are ridiculous. Please beware of what you are signing for because you will regret it.

When I first got with Ambit Energy. My bill didn't go over 2 something. Now my bills up and down. I use the same amount of energy. My energy be really high in the winter and I got gas. My gas bill doesn't be no more than100 something to heat my house. Energy almost 6 hundred. In June it was hundred and something, July 289. Open my bill up this month. It's Almost 5 hundred. 489.

I renewed my contract after being with them for many years. My bill doubled. They told me 12 cents KW which turned out to be a lie. With all their charges came out to almost 18. My bill went from $350 to $705. They double AEP charges when AEP charges them so much less. I called AEP. Don’t get Ambit. They turned to be a company who scams customers.

I have just had the worst experience with Ambit. I realized a couple weeks ago my rate was too high at 19 cents! My neighbor uses Just Energy and they offered me a plan at 13 cents, I jumped on and and moved to JE. I just got my final bill from Ambit, and out of retaliation for leaving, they hiked the price to 25 cents! I only had 10 days to charge for the onto of June, but that bill is just as high as last month's bill for 30 days. Despicable company.

This is the shadiest, most unethical utility company I have ever come across. And this is from a veteran who has lived all over the states and have used multiple different service providers. They lie upon initial setup, they lie about your deposit, have extremely high rates, and they have representatives that are very difficult to understand. If you have an option, do NOT choose them. Feels like more of a ponzi scheme or some grimy illegal company. Deplorable.

Very bad experience with Ambit! I have been a customer for more than 10 years and this renewal I got lied to. I was told something very different to what I got charged. When I called they did nothing.

I have been an Ambit customer for 17 years, have signed contract after contract. Rates always seem to be fair (11-12 kwph) service not so great, but rarely needed anything, bill was always debited straight from my bank account. As the years passed by, I started paying closer attention to my bill - how can my actual electricity usage be $165 but my bill is $458? I have NEVER had a more difficult time in trying to figure out a billing system as I do with this company! If you defer a payment then you're really screwed, and will probably never get back on track! After 17 years I was laid off and struggling to make ends meet and Ambit turned OFF my power over a balance of $250! I am currently searching for another provider, and Ambit Energy, may you get exactly what you deserve.

By the 4th month, there was a major change. My monthly bill almost tripled to 400 plus dollars in January and has been ranging in the 300’s since then. I’ve spoken to numerous reps and nobody is of help. I requested for someone to check the meter for any issues and was told I must pay almost 200 to have the meter checked. I have a 2 bedroom apt, I’m at work during the day and am doing the same as when I signed up. They are of no help. I tried to move on to another company not realizing I was on 24 month contract and breaking would cost $300. The worst company ever.

I've had Ambit for a short time and my only 2 bills from them so far were nearly $400 for a small 3 bedroom apartment!!! I can only imagine what the summer bills will be!! I'm dropping them and going with someone else.

WARNING!!! Do not use this company. My bill is extremely high every month. Over $150 per month for very little use > The Park at Westcreek in Houston, TX refers them for utilities but it is a complete rip off. Shop around. Do not use them unless you are completely desperate.

I've been ensnared in Ambit Energy's web of deceit and incompetence for a torturous year. Their auto-pay feature, touted as a convenience, is nothing more than a trap designed to drain your bank account with unexpected drops and subsequent fees. It's a predatory tactic straight out of their scam artist playbook, leaving hard-working individuals like myself scrambling to cover their tracks.

Called to ensure service over a month ago and just received another invoice. Called to ask why and they informed that the notes say when I called last it said I wanted to extend service until today. I informed them, it was the opposite. I also said a bunch of bad words and went off as the previous employee who took the call lied and now has caused a bunch of confusion and issues. I will never use Ambit again.

I sign up with Ambit 2020 2 years. Before 2 years they call me saying that lease about to end. In order to keep my rate they needed me to approved sign up again to 2 year. I said yes but month after big change my bill keep getting higher so I call them after 3 months had pass. They said since my lease had ended I had not enrolled they raise my rate. Each month will raise. When I explain I did enroll they said that info was not system so I was screw if I enrolled they could do give new clients rate higher so this was January. My husband and I started looking asking friend and neighbors. Finally we enroll with another electric company. That was done in February 23 2022. Still had to paid month February and March for ambit and no I see their collection charge month April and May during time I was already in Entrust Energy. June there's collection account $178 Because I did not do written notice but I call them March told them I would switch January.

I live alone and they charge me nothing less than $250 (I literally live alone) with a horrible customer service as they are unable to look into my issue in detail and very reluctant to help... I had to cancel the contract as I too livid to be patient to wait for my contract to end. Ambit Energy is a rip off, do not use them.

I don’t recommend Ambit energy. My bill went up every month regardless of how little energy I used. My bill was never less than $250. The customer service was horrible. I requested an extension once through their chat service and was told I had an extra 2 weeks. Then received a notice for disconnection in the mail, called customer service and was informed that everything was confirmed. Then I received a disconnect notice online, called customer service again and they informed me my services would not be disconnected and my services was still disconnected. I was also charged the late fee and reconnection fee. About a month after I got my services reconnected I got a notice that I requested to disconnect my services, I never requested to disconnect. With that issue they told me not to pay my bill because there was a mix up and someone else’s deposit for their own services was added onto my bill.

I am in the process of moving into a new apartment and was directed to set up my electric service via Ambit. I received a call from them on 11/2/23 after submitting an online form and the sales rep spoke so fast and did not say what company he worked for. He then demanded my social security number which I declined to provide. I looked this company up on Google while he was talking AT me and discovered that it is a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) with abysmal reviews. When I mentioned this to the rep, he dismissed my concerns and started talking even faster.

This multilevel marketing company will get your family member to sign up and then they of course are excited to save you on your energy. Typical scam artist company. I wound up paying over $800 more for the year that I would have had I just stayed with the main provider instead of this greasy marketer. To the person who was excited about her rep's “positive energy” - don’t drink the Kool-Aid, they will get you and screw you over!

Mrs Aura ** was my consultant. My God she was able to get the job done with my electricity. I will recommend everyone I know in Houston Texas about her and to get them to switch their electric provider when I tell you she made me feel so comfortable and calm. I want to thank her for all that she’s done and I am very grateful to have spoken to her, her positive energy has rubbed on me. If I could I would give her a trillion points.

The worst electricity company you could possibly use; they charge such high fees that make the customer think they are a scam. I’m canceling my contract with them after a bill of $352 + $150. The only thing they could explain was something about a 'summer break adjustment' - what??? I live alone, I'm hardly ever home, I use my TV sparingly. It doesn't make sense. Even though I knew I was being charged unfairly, I was paying half the amount because there was no way I could afford to pay $352 + $150 at once. I paid $160 and was gradually paying the rest. Suddenly, they disconnected my electricity when I least expected it. NOTE: and it has nothing to do with late payments. TAKE MY ADVICE, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SCAMMED, don't sign a contract with this company.

Most expensive energy bills I’ve ever paid. I feel trapped, belittled, and disrespected. The customer service is a joke, it’s almost impossible to get someone on the phone. When you do, it’s someone in a call center in India. You can barely understand them, they can barely understand you. Not fair for either side of the conversation. I’ve had the most horrible experiences with this company. I do not trust them in any way. Save yourself, don’t do it! Lol, trust me… It’s an absolute nightmare.

They are charging $479 for an 1100 square foot home. Nothing has changed, but my energy has been going up $100 every single month. Please don't use them. I'm canceling and encouraging others to do the same, because it's definitely a scam. My bill used to be around 170 or 180. I've been with them for 10 years, but I'm leaving because he literally told me my usage is 17.50/ kilowatt.

Just like the review I just read. Stay the hell away from scamming Ambit. I am in a 2 bed apt and my bill has been 200 to 350 every month. They lied to me when I signed up and their rates are ridiculous. I hate them with a passion.

I live in a two bedroom. My son and I only. My bill is never below 200. We ** everything out. I even had my landlord check for air leaks. This is the worst company. They offer you a plan or contract with the promise of saving. It’s crap. My bill is worse.

My house is 900 so. My bill was $400. I paid all but $100. Made arrangements to pay the remaining with my next bill and they still disconnected my service for nonpayment. This is ridiculous. I have never been late, in fact I always pay several days early. And I get disconnected in this Texas heat.

Please Do not get services with Ambit Energy, they have some good talking workers that will finesse you & make you feel like you’re using a lot of Kilo. Please be advise they’re really good with their communication skills..

The managers are training all agents to flirt with the customers over the phone, even though the customers that the agents are talking to over the phone is either married or in a relationship and making fun of the person's accent who speaks in English over the phone.
