Better Earth Solar Reviews

I am totally dissatisfied with Better Earth Solar and the way this company treats its customers. My experience has been nothing short of frustrating, disappointing, and unacceptable. Since having my solar panels installed, I have experienced repeated roof leaks that have required multiple repairs, including emergency repairs that I had to pay for out of my own pocket. What makes this situation even worse is the lack of accountability, poor communication, and constant runaround when trying to get these issues resolved.

I have had Better Earth solar for 3 yrs and l see not value; my electric bill was around $200 monthly. I now pay solar loan of $170 monthly for the next 20 years and utility bill of nearly $300 monthly. There is no benefit in installing them. Just a sales scam. I see no use as my bills are way too high. For all the sunshine in Florida, l still I'm not able to generate enough energy to power the whole house at night. Scam.

Long story short, when Better Earth installed the panels, they left a bunch of debris around the yard and (I later found in winter the following year) punched through my roof causing a leak that damaged ceiling drywall. When they came to “fix” the issue, the contractor tracked roof tar through my interior carpet. More importantly, they turned off the solar and didn’t turn it back on from April through August, when the most energy generating should have taken place. When I called them about the massive spike in my energy bill, they blamed me for not having an app to track production (or I would have caught it) and then told me they would evaluate in January the following year “automatically.” When March came and I asked for an update, of course they hadn’t started the review.

My helpful review to any consumer seeking solar in SoCal. Run very fast and far away from this company. They will come out, install and when anything goes south, they will leave you hanging. No calls, no texts, no emails, no contact. AT ALL. We live on a golf course and naturally, we anticipate damage to our panels. We have been fighting with Better Earth since JULY 2025 to have replacements installed. 5 months of weekly phone calls to them to coordinate replacements, with ZERO results. We have gone so far as to file a claim with our homeowners insurance to pay for the replacement panels. Better Earth received payment, and yes, you guessed it. NO CONTACT.

Worst company I have every dealt with in my life. Signed a contract in mid January of 2025 and they still have not passed inspection. The job was supposed to be done on April 27th, 2025. Nobody at the company is reachable, nobody at the company is competent. They stole my own personal conduit, broke my terracotta roof tiles, and have failed inspection a FIVE TIMES all for the same code violation. This company is so incompetent, they cannot even use a measuring tape properly to measure 36 inches.

The lack of communication and professionalism from this company has been horrible. We started the funding process in October 2024 and was setup for installation December 2024. It is now May 2025. Better Earth's project managers do not keep you updated or communicate honestly at all. Apparently, they didn't file the proper permits and paperwork the county and SDGE required to get things done. All this company did was have their roofing contractor come to remove tiles from our roof for the installation. Nothing else was done. The tiles were left stacked on the rooftop of our garage. We voiced our concerns on numerous occasions, but to no avail. Earlier this year in January, gusty winds caused a couple of tiles to slide off the roof and damage our outdoor heater. We advised Better Earth. Their only response was that they would pay for it. But the tiles remained.

We have had our solar since 2019. This year the solar stopped working in April and we did not know it until we received a $3000 bill from SCE. BEWARE!!!! They sell you on the fact that they are monitoring the system!!! No they don’t. Supposedly there was an app that we could use to monitor it ourselves however our sales person never told us about it so we didn’t know that it existed. They finally got it up and working and it is down again!!!! We have called the installation department and they gave us a 14 day window to evaluate the issue. So we will probably have another $300+ electric bill. We are not happy. Also stay away from Freedom Forever as they are the installation company!!!!

These guys ruined my roof, and I’m currently in litigation with them. They sent a group of inexperienced high school kids who had never worked on a roof before. They left a trail of shattered tiles and even caused holes that led to a leak, resulting in water damage to my son's room. They also damaged my gutters with bolts, brackets, and knots. Their 'Customer Satisfaction' Manager hasn’t responded to my last text or phone calls. When you call their Customer Support, you wait 1.5 hours to speak to someone who can’t help you, and they refer you to their Operations Manager, who never calls back. After repeated attempts, they finally respond but just send the same high school kids back to your roof. They never involve a professional roofing company to fix the damage they caused, leaving me with no option but to pursue legal action

I hate to be forced to have to leave a negative review for any company. Although after 90 days and being told they would make it right I am forced to share my negative experience with everyone. First I was promised that even though they subcontract the roofing jobs they would stand by it. Total lie because after the roofers punched holes in my ceiling with nails and leaving trash and nails all over my yard. The roofers tried to make it good by grinding the nails and patching and painting my ceiling. Sadly they painted all over my fixtures and made a mess of my house. Not to mention that the inside of my house was covered in dust.
