What is Reservations.com?

Reservations.com is an online travel agency (OTA) established in 2014 that offers hotel bookings for individuals and groups, and connects customers with car rentals through its partner site, rentalcars.com. The website lets you compare hotel prices, amenities and availability at destinations worldwide.

The company isn’t affiliated with any one hotel. It partners with over 500,000 hotels that pay a referral fee to be featured on the site. Customers can book online or call the company directly for 24/7 phone support.

Reservations.com fees

Reservations.com doesn’t disclose all its fees, but those that are are listed along with your booking details. There are no cancellation fees, but many reservations are nonrefundable or only partially refundable.

  • Transaction and service fees: These cover mandatory taxes like sales and use, occupancy, room, excise or value-added that hotels are required to charge. There’s also a nonrefundable service fee charged by Reservations.com, but the actual amount isn’t disclosed.
  • Property fees: You may also see property or resort fees listed on your reservation that are payable directly to the hotel upon check-in. These fees are dependent on local laws at your destination.
  • Credit card fees: Your credit card provider may impose transaction or currency exchange fees if you’re booking a hotel in another country.

How Reservations.com works

You can book a hotel with Reservations.com online or by phone. Customers can search for a specific hotel or look at all available options within a specific area. Once you find a room and rate you like, you’ll complete the booking by entering your credit card information and immediately receive a confirmation email.

The company states that customers can access steeper discounts and hidden specials if they call to make a reservation instead of completing one online.

Cancellation

Cancellation policies vary and are disclosed before you make a purchase and in your confirmation email. Many reservations are nonrefundable or only partially refundable. For example, you may be able to cancel a multinight trip, but be required to pay for one night’s room plus tax.

You can cancel your reservation online by phone or by clicking on the “manage reservation” link. Any modifications to your reservation must be made over the phone, as changes can’t be made online.

    Pambi was very helpful when I was having a hard time booking a room on Hiltons site. She checked and saw there was a problem with my attempt in booking a room for my granddaughter's graduation. I tried but got a text that my reservation was held up. I called the reservations desk and Pambi was able to find me another room at the same rate. Saved me all the time trying to rebook online again. She was very patient and explained what I needed to do and took care of everything for me. I hope you acknowledge her extra effort to her.

      We are on a trip from Texas to Arkansas where we were planning to drive straight through before we got a notification we were driving into a severe thunderstorm and we were trying to find a pet friendly hotel and Chloe was such an amazing help, she worked fast and got us the answers we needed straight to the point and got us booked, she also genuinely cared for our well being and letting us know to please get there safely without rushing. 10/10 service me and my boyfriend would definitely recommend!

      Jolene was so helpful. The hotel was selling out fast, but she found me a great room at a neighboring hotel. I would have had to spend hours doing online research. Her speaking was clear and unambiguous which I really appreciated. She got right to the point while having all the details readily available to share. It took quite a while to find an available room, but she was patient and just proceeded to go through the details. So helpful and such a pro.

      Carlos ** made my reservation for 3 nights and he was professional, kind, and he knows how to do his job. I had lots of questions and most of the hotels were booked, but Carlos found me a wonderful place to stay in LaJunta Colorado. Working in customer service is a difficult job and Carlos took time to help book a reservation for me. I will be booking again very soon. I hope Carlos picks up my call again. He also made sure to discount my reservation because I am retired military. Thank you for people like Carlos who is patient and made sure all my concerns and questions were met. He's one of a kind.

      My agent was great but here at the hotel itself I’m being totally overcharged by hundreds of dollar and still have a 600$ check out fee. I really don’t understand what’s going on but now I’m very upset. My vacation is ruined because this and there’s no manager on site on the weekend as I was told. Even if I estimate 5 nights let’s say at a rate of 274.00 that add up to about 1,370.00 but I was charged 1,857.00 and that is not including tonight. I paid 274.00 last night over the phone. Now when I check out and check back in today I’m afraid that they will charge my card again. I’m very upset. Another thing the 150.00 hold fee did not go to my dining and drinking so I’m also being charged 600.00 for food and drinks. I’m very confused and I don’t think I’ll ever come back here and I will tell everyone I know so this won’t happen to them. I hope they fix this…. I'm very disappointed.
