    Reviewed Dec. 1, 2025

In June 2025, I hired Energy Saving Pros (ESP) to install two FranklinWH batteries to accompany my existing solar array. I chose ESP because the salesperson was knowledgeable and transparent, and promised me installation would be complete 45-60 days from contract signing. But after signing the contract and paying ~2/3 of the $31K cost upfront, everything fell apart.

Permitting: Eager to get going, I checked in regularly with ESP as to when the permits would be approved. ESP blamed delays on the City for months. Three months in, when I contacted the City myself, I learned ESP had repeatedly submitted invalid plans using non-approved equipment, even after being informed the equipment they were proposing to the city was not approved for use in the US. Further, the local utility also confirmed ESP had not yet contacted them for their required interconnection approval.

Communication: When I sent a detailed email what I’d discovered above by doing ESP's work for them, ESP went silent. After another, firmer email, the owner finally replied with a three line "we're working on it" email including no apology, and addressed me as “Mark.” (My name isn’t Mark.) Permits were approved shortly after I intervened.

Installation: Their promised 1–2 day install became 4 days because ESP only sent one worker instead of a two-person team. No heads-up, no apology, and I had to work from home extra days to provide access.

Broken promises: As things fell apart, my original salesperson promised me a meaningful discount for the delays and for me jumping in to assist ESP with their permitting work. Unfortunately, he departed the company right before installation. When I got the owner on the phone, he offered me “a couple hundred bucks” off a $31K job. (I'm a business owner, and when we screw up, which happens, we proactively offer meaningful discounts to our valued clients. Two thirds of one percent isn't a meaningful discount, it's an insult.) Offended by his utter lack of accountability, I paid him in full and immediately started writing this review in my head.

Inspection: Another dropped ball: ESP didn’t tell me when they'd scheduled the inspection with the city. I found out only when the installer texted from my driveway needing access. Cherry on top: the inspector failed the permit because ESP's installation didn’t follow their own plans. Three weeks later, the second inspection took place, once again without giving me a heads up as to when it would be occurring - "hi, we're here." Sad.

Timeline: Contract signed in June with a sixty-day installation promise. Final approval of the error-filled installation in November. Months of avoidable delays caused by ESP’s repeated errors, disorganization, and lack of accountability.

Bottom line: The FranklinWH batteries themselves are fantastic. But Energy Saving Pros’ management was the most frustrating, unprofessional vendor experience of my life.

    Considering ESP? Don’t.
