How does Two Men and a Truck work?

How Two Men and a Truck works will vary slightly depending on the type of move you book, but here’s what the moving process typically looks like:

Book your move

You’ll start by requesting a free quote online, by phone, by email or through an in-person site survey. You’ll then schedule your move for a specific day.

Movers will load the truck

Two Men and a Truck movers will arrive at your home and load up the moving truck. If you’ve requested any additional services, such as packing or furniture disassembly, that will occur at this time.

Movers will transport items

As your items are transported, you’ll get updates on the timing and location of your moving truck along the way.

Movers will unload items

When movers arrive at your new home, they’ll start unloading the truck. Movers will unpack and reassemble furniture if those services were requested.

Two Men and a Truck offers an on-time guarantee at select franchise locations. This states that your truck will arrive within the two-hour arrival window provided to you. If it doesn’t, you’ll receive 10% off your move.

Two Men and a Truck moving services

Two Men and a Truck’s moving services include local, long-distance and cross-country moves. The company performs household moves, business moves and military moves, and it offers discounted moving rates for active-duty, veterans and eligible military family members at select locations. Note that some franchise locations have a minimum time or distance requirement.

Local moves

Two Men and a Truck typically charges by the hour for local moves, often requiring a minimum of one to two hours.

Long-distance moves

Most Two Men and a Truck locations perform long-distance moves. Some franchise locations have restrictions on distance, so check first to make sure your local franchise can complete your move.

Value Flex services

Two Men and a Truck offers a Value Flex moving service for long-distance moves. This is an affordable alternative to their standard moving services, though it’s only available at select franchise locations. It’s generally ideal for smaller moves and people who have a flexible move-in date.

With the Value Flex option, movers will pack household belongings in a crate and put it on a trailer along with crates from other moves. Items will typically be delivered within a five-day window.

Additional services

Additional services and moving products from Two Men and a Truck include:

  • Packing supplies: The company sells packing supplies, including cardboard boxes, packing tape, protective wrapping, packing paper and specialty boxes.
  • Piano moving: Two Men and a Truck’s expert movers have experience moving pianos and other bulky or fragile items.
  • Expedited moving: The company can expedite moves for a fee.
  • Temporary storage: The company offers temporary storage for customers whose move-in and move-out dates don’t line up.
  • Junk removal: Two Men and a Truck offers cleanout services, garage cleaning and furniture removal.

Insurance and valuation coverage

All moves from Two Men and a Truck include basic liability coverage. Additional protection is available for an extra cost. Coverage terms and availability can vary by franchise.

  • Basic liability coverage: Also known as released value protection, this coverage is included with every move. It typically covers up to 60 cents per pound and per item for lost or damaged belongings.
  • Full valuation coverage: You can upgrade to full valuation coverage, which will cover the full replacement value of lost or damaged items.

Some locations may also offer third-party insurance options, and customers may want to check whether their homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy provides coverage during a move. Because declared value limits and exclusions vary by location, customers should confirm what is and is not covered before moving day.

Two Men and a Truck cost

Two Men and a Truck costs vary depending on the type of move, such as long-distance or local moves, and what type of moving services are selected, such as standard, expedited or Value Flex services. Each Two Men and a Truck franchise sets its own rates, so the final cost varies depending on the location.

For example, we received a quote of $6,300 for a long-distance move from Chicago to Kansas City. The estimate was for a three-bedroom home and assumed all of your items were packed when the movers arrived. The quote included stretch wrap service, the use of basic tools and equipment, moving pads and fuel charges.

Two Men and a Truck’s website states that the price for long-distance moves (expedited or Value Flex) is binding and that labor is included. Some Two Men and a Truck franchise locations set minimum move times of one to two hours, which will affect total costs.

Generally, local moves cost around $80 to $100 per hour for a team of two movers, and long-distance moves cost around $5,000 on average, according to our research.

Factors affecting cost

Some factors that affect moving costs at Two Men and a Truck include:

  • Loading and unloading time
  • Walking distance from the load and unload locations
  • Number of flights of stairs

Payment options

We are in our 70s and we hired two men in a truck to move us. When we got to our new home we couldn't unpack right away because of the sweltering heat and our health conditions it took us almost a month to get unpacked. Some of our antique furniture was damaged. The items were marked for certain rooms and we found some that were supposed to go in the house in the garage buried. We have items that are missing? We paid a lot of money for this move and I would never do it again even for half the cost! If you hire these people please watch closely.

We hired 2 men and a truck after they told us our move should take between 3-4 hours and provided the lowest quote of all the companies. The movers ended up taking almost 7 hours, could not get our bed up our stairs, and then still had not even put the beds together by this point! When customer service called to check on how the move was, we complained about the misquote, having to pay a higher price for additional hours, and for having to move our own bed and putting everything back together ourselves. The movers also lost hardware to our furniture that we ended up having to replace. They stated the manager would return our call within 48 hours and we never heard anything back to address our concerns. Absolutely would not use them again.

Daniel, Chris and Jason were our team today and did an amazing job. Daniel was so efficient, he could size up exactly what size box was needed in what space. We will ask for them again. Our house is a very difficult two story with steps at all entrances---they handled it all well.

I was so disappointed with Two Men and a Truck Moving Company as a professional moving company. Even though the elevator broke in the middle of the move, the company had no contingency plan in place as a professional moving company to be able to fulfill their contractual obligation to me. Their men (3 professional movers) were not prepared or willing to move my furniture without the use of an elevator. This is done all the time. All I had was the living room, kitchen and bedroom furniture in a two-bedroom apartment...not a house full of furniture. I had no boxes.

Further, Daniel ** and one other mover were rude, dismissive and disrespectful. When I complained about missing screws to my kitchen table, he replied..."Whatever," and walked away. I am sure that one person will not impact your business, but I will never use your company again and will be sure not to recommend your company to anyone I know. Instead, I will be sure to steer them far away from your company.

My 6/2/26 move with Two Men and a Truck at 3951 Bardstown RD did not go well. I had everything packed before the move, but I'm unable to move myself, which is why I hired a moving company, thinking it would make things much easier. I had the contents of a 1400-1500sq ft 3BR home moved to a storage facility 25 minutes away. I was quoted to have two trucks, four men, two tv boxes, and three mattress bags, and that the move would probably take around 6hrs 45mins and they would shrink wrap and disassemble furniture. The movers were due to arrive between 8-9am. I received a call from one of the movers, Jay Story, at 9:21, saying they were on the way, however they did not arrive until over an hour later. This shop is 14.6mi and 27 minutes from my address, yet it took them over an hour to arrive. They arrived with only one truck, none of the packing supplies I was quoted, and no tools.

They also sent four unqualified/unprofessional and untrained movers/drivers. One of them asked me to ask my neighbor if they could drive INTO HER YARD so they could back into my driveway--for reference, the street is a normal two-lane street and it was a long double driveway. They didn't load/store things the way I asked them to, I had to tell one of them not to drop my boxes from the truck onto the dolly, they put a big gouge in the hallway wall that I had to fix, and did not maximize use of the space in either the truck or the storage units. One of them said my living room chair was too big to move through the front door, yet that's how it was delivered. I had to tell him to remove the legs and turn it sideways. They completely unloaded a garage storage cart (which has wheels/casters) to put it on the truck and then didn't put anything back in it.

When the mover put this cart in storage, he faced it toward the wall EMPTY, until I told him to turn it around and put things in there. One unit was packed only half high all the way from front to back, so even though there was room, I wouldn't be able to add anything without unloading the entirety of the unit and reloading it. I also asked 3x that they keep my toolbox and other tools at the front of the unit so I'd be able to access them, but they instead hid them somewhere in the back of the storage unit, which added an additional 30ish minutes to my move time because I made them find them for me.

When scheduling my move, I inventoried all the furniture in my home on the website where you can mark the contents of each room, yet the movers STRUGGLED moving my mattress and jukebox out of my house. When they removed the mirror from my dresser, they left the screws on the wood pieces they removed it from, so several of them have been lost. They also broke one of the slats on my bed frame and lost a part to a pet gate. This company did a poor job and took twice the time quoted because they sent unqualified people and only one truck. When I inquired about the second truck, the GM, **, informed me that there was only one qualified driver that day. I notified Tevin, the manager I spoke with the day of my move, that they lost a part and asked how to file a claim for replacement. He said he'd call or text his number so I could let him know if I was able to find it when I went back to my house, which he never did.

The following week, I spoke to the General Manager, **, regarding these same issues, and after sending pictures of the storage units, he agreed to have himself and three other movers unload and repack my storage units. He also said he'd order the missing part for my gate. We met at the storage facility June 12th and they did re-do my units; I was even able to replace one of them with a smaller unit. This took another 3 hours. On this day, ** told me that the gate part would arrive the next day.

When I didn't hear back or receive the part, I called the shop again 6/16 to speak to ** to inquire. He verified my address and said he'd send it to my current residence. I sent another message 6/20 after not receiving it, as well as another message 6/22 due to no response. This time he said it was due to arrive "tomorrow", 6/23. Since I still haven't received it today, I checked in yesterday with no response and again today, 6/25, to which he responded it arrived on Tuesday. It still hasn't been shipped or delivered to me. I've contacted the company multiple times via email, phone call, and text. Not once have I received a response to an email or phone call, and I've received only a handful of text responses.

Be wary of using this company unless you have a lot of time/money to waste, you're not that concerned about the contents of your home, and you're ok with lack of communication and follow up. I will never use or recommend Two Men and a Truck after this horrible, time consuming and expensive experience. I understand that the franchises are independently run, and this one should lose its franchise status given how they run it and employ unqualified and unprofessional workers.

I initially called for a moving quote and ended up booking the service based on the estimate I received. The two-man crew arrived on time and were professional when they arrived. We completed a walkthrough of my home, identifying everything that would be included in the move. After I signed the contract, they began working immediately. Unfortunately, about an hour into the move, the team lead pulled me aside and presented me with a new contract. He explained that I had been quoted incorrectly and that the job would require a third mover. This increased the cost by an additional $80 per hour and extended the estimated time from 5 hours to 7 hours. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed by this sudden change. The team had already completed the walkthrough and knew exactly how much needed to be moved, yet they waited more than an hour into the job to tell me additional labor was required.

Because I was on a strict timeline to vacate the home I was selling and move into my new house, I felt I had no real choice but to agree and proceed. After everything was packed, we conducted another walkthrough. I pointed out several items that had been missed, and the team began loading them. However, when I returned for a final check, I discovered they had still left behind a significant amount of belongings—enough to fill my SUV twice.

The issues continued at the new house. Clearly labeled boxes were placed in the wrong locations, with basement items brought upstairs and garage items left outside in the yard instead of being placed in the garage. I specifically reminded the crew to plug in my basement refrigerator, but they failed to do so, resulting in all of the meat stored in the freezer being spoiled. Overall, the experience was extremely frustrating and disorganized. What started as a quoted $1,500 move ended up costing me nearly $2,800, and the quality of service did not justify the additional expense. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

They dropped his dresser, dragged his mattress across the grass giving it grass stains. Now they are giving him a hard time about replacing his TV. They want to pick up his Tv and take it God knows where to try and fix it. They told him it was Geek Squad coming to get it but he contacted Geek Squad and they said they only repair TVs in the home for the size of his. He has to go without a tv for a week while they lie to him about Geek Squad. They say they are insured but obviously not for damages to your items. Do not choose this company! I saw NOTHING that stated this. Most of the franchises refund your deposit if you cancel before the 48hr of schedule date. The one in Mason, Ohio does not! I used this company 3 times. The 1st time 10 years back they were great which is why I used them about a year ago, wasn’t as great but nothing damaged. Then in November 2025 I used them again. They had no idea what they were doing, couldn’t even get a recliner out of my house. At the end every piece of furniture had been damaged in some way, a few pieces seriously damaged. Even boxes had rips.

After watching them move the same furniture over the years I can tell you their current mover have not been trained properly and do not know how to break down pieces for the move. They also slide the furniture across the ground, my leather sofa is all scuff up on the side even though they wrapped plastic on it as they did all pieces that are scratched and chipped. I’m in a wheelchair and live alone. By the time I found the damage it had been right at 31 days and they shut me down. It’s sad to see a once good company fall this far and the fact they don’t permit customers leaving TRUE EXPERIENCE REVIEWS is dirt business practice.

Told me, "If you want to save money, pack as much of it as you can and we’ll pack what’s left." We packed up 90% of the house. Their packers came to my house weeks later to finish and was there for 1.5 hours and charged me $850.00.

After the move, the price was $800 more than what was quoted to me because they said we were 3000# over the estimated weight price. I can see being off by 1000# but 3000#? When I contacted the “franchise manager” Chris of the Garner, NC office, he told me he would look into it. Waiting for his reply verbally, never came. A week later, I received an email from him basically saying, “Tough shit,” and he charged my credit card. The balance of the move with the additional $800.

What better way to get your business. They give you the cheapest quote and charge you a deposit, then after the move is done, they tell you your weight is more than they said it was. That goes for the packing portion also. If they would have packed my entire 2300 sq ft house, how do they come up with $1500-2000 quote? It would have taken them at least 4 more hours to pack the whole house and would have been much more than quoted. These guys underquote their prices to get your business. When they do the job, the price is considerably higher. Go with someone else. What is the purpose of a virtual walk-through when it means nothing to the final bill? I knew it was an estimated weight, but being off 3000# is unacceptable.

By far the best move ever. James and Brooks were the movers, both were experienced, conscientious, very careful with my stuff and fast. The final cost was several hundred dollars below the estimate. On top of all that they were both very personable. They actually made the move almost fun!

1st time used this company 3 yrs ago, I could not speak highly enough, unfortunately for my most recent move this month was nothing shy of a disaster. Two weeks later still don’t have issues resolved, don’t return calls, (say they did but no miss calls or vmails) and now management (who say there is no one above them to speak with) that they’ll send out someone to do the repair on the three pieces of furniture that were broken in the move and the gouges in the wall from things being moved into different rooms.

The furniture listing and # of boxes were accurate, and was told between 8-9 hrs to complete only to take 2.5 hrs to get to new home (35 min drive) was told by crew stopped for a liquid lunch, and because of timing now at 11 hrs place all boxes and totes in the garage vs in each room AND floor covering although requested for both homes did not happen either so had to have carpets and floors done. Nice crew but some were too busy talking on personal calls, one even to his boss getting a job lined up for the next day all while my husband and I were moving furniture. And now they want to charge me extra!

My experience with two men and a truck was negative and exhausting. I received a $200 check for a $7000 move for missing and damaged items. The last email I received on November 20 from the operations manager stated my alleged missing and damaged items. There was nothing alleged about those items. I had to stay in Fort Lauderdale due to my closing being delayed and my adult son had the codes, keys and locks to the storage facility. We were speaking on the phone and he watched as all four casters were broken off between their truck and the storage unit. They also broke my Stiffel lamp. I told him to document and take pictures as I did not want him to get into an altercation with the workers.

He also did a spreadsheet for me of all the missing and damaged items as I am not computer literate. The company received the pictures and spreadsheet. They wanted receipts. I never said my items were new but they had value to me. He also said they compensate by weight. It took two men to turn the hutch on its side to apply new casters.

The movers arrived on time and were friendly. However, that's where the positives end. We had to keep reminding them to wrap upholstered furniture and expensive wood furniture. We ended up with a dirty headboard and gouges in my wood dresser. There was also damage to a brand new dining set that I purchased just prior to moving. We called the company several times with no resolution. They keep putting us off. We finally gave up and "ate" the damages. Would not recommend this company and would never describe them as "movers who care" which they state on their logo.

Had to use my bathroom twice for very unpleasant reasons. Left dirty towels in my sink rather than throwing away. No communication, it feels like they hate you while you are moving

I used Two Men and a Truck on 11/3/2025 to move. The movers were excellent and easy to work with and that is where the great review STOPS. They double billed me and overcharged me $2544.22. I have been calling since 11/10/2025. I've been told by several staff members they agree it is an overcharge. I've been assured numerous time that I would receive a call and a credit will be issued. To date, I have not received a call and the credit has not been issued. I would never use this company again. I've been told, but cannot definitely confirm, that several other consumers have been overcharged and nothing was done to remedy the problem. I will be submitting a complaint to the BBB. Think twice before using this company.

Moving sucks. It just does. But if you have to do it, hire these guys. They will make you smile and take away SO much of the pain of moving. The team that moved my 89-year-old mom yesterday were just outstanding. They handled everything with exquisite care, as if they were moving their own mother’s furniture. And they were nice and cheerful and communicative. Aaaaand we grossly underestimated how much we had and how long it would take, so they put in five unanticipated hours, working until almost 10:00 pm.

The extra time meant extra money, and they were very clear and careful about explaining and communicating this. I could not be happier or more grateful to this crew and this company. I should add that each time I called, I was delighted with the customer service. The folks on the phones are knowledgeable and helpful, and I had to call a few times to make changes. The entire team made the chore of moving SO much better than it could have been. Thank you, Two Men and a Truck!

Customer Service was great however the movers did not do the best job. I literally had 1 bedroom set and got charged 756 dollars. They could not fit my desk in my apartment so I ended up having to throw it away even though they could have taken it apart and put it back easily. Instead they through it away on my apartment complex which charged me 150 dollars to remove it. On top of that they took the doors off of my home in one of the rooms and never put it back on at all smh. They really only needed 2 movers. Also some of the movers were complaining the whole time. There was one good guy who could move but the others not so much.

According to the documentation, the damages are covered, however, every time I call I get an apology and am told they are under new management and pending response from their "vendor" it is now end of October 2025. They always say they will call me back and NEVER do! Very terrible customer service!!!! I paid close to $2000 for my move and the damages are more than 2x that.

Be very careful. They will overcharge you for minutes you are not informed about ahead of time. They charge a standard rate for time from their facility to your residence even if it is only 5 minutes away. You are also charged for the time they take to finalize your bill. I was charged for an extra 45 minutes, which included time for one of the drivers to use my bathroom and clog my toilet, time to pass by my house and drive around the block, and time to chit chat with me and visit with my cats. I had no luck in disputing these charges. I was quoted $200 to move some furniture that should have taken 1 hour. I paid for 1.75 hours at $350.

Arkansas- These guys showed up ready! We were moving from a third floor apartment building. There were three men. One to take the inventory from apartment to elevator, load the elevator then a guy at the first floor unloaded and wheeled everything to the truck. Third guy loaded the truck and wrapped everything piece of furniture. They came at 9 am and were completely done by 12:30-1:00. Amazing doesn’t describe their professionalism, gentleness with inventory, kindness to our mom and us. They were fun to communicate with as well.

My service was at Saturday, October 4 2025. I had a very disappointing experience with this company. Before starting the actual work, the movers spent at least 20 minutes “explaining the service” and signing electronic forms on the iPad. The clock was running the whole time. I paid $500 for just two hours and a 15 minute, but they charged me for three full hours because of the wasted time at the beginning. This felt like a way to stretch the time to charge more, rather than focusing on the actual move. Overall, this was horrible service — it felt like they were more interested in billing extra than working efficiently. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.

I booked a move with Two Men and a Truck – Northwest Arkansas (Bentonville) and was told it had to be a two-day job due to “DOT and labor laws.” I confirmed details carefully and even provided photos of every packed item beforehand. Despite that, the entire move took only about nine hours — easily within legal limits. I was also charged a last-minute $300 “Sunday” fee that had never been disclosed before payment. When I asked for clarification, I received inconsistent and incomplete explanations from management over the course of a week. The crew themselves were on time, efficient, and careful, but customer communication and accountability were major issues.

I ultimately paid roughly $700 more than necessary because of scheduling and communication errors. My concern is not with the hardworking movers, but with a management process that misrepresented company policy as law and failed to take ownership when questioned. I hope this feedback encourages more transparency and professionalism moving forward — no customer should have to chase clarity after paying in full.
