I made the mistake of not researching reviews on LG, to see all the trouble others continue to have. Top load model WT7000C purchased December 2024. Normal cycle doesn't always put enough water no matter the amount of clothes, so I originally added water with a bucket then started pausing and changing to a different cycle which would fill it over the clothes. I called technical support who said unplug then replug, another said hose might be kinked, if that were true than it wouldn't fill up when the next since cycle starts. I missed my warranty by a week when I originally called. There SHOULD BE an option to add more water!!!

I have had the LG Inverter direct drive front loader washer and dryer for at least 5 years now. I should have returned them. I did return the dryer for a new one because it takes 1 hour and 50 minutes to dry one load. The replacement was the exact same, I wish I would have returned both of them. The washer cannot rinse a Tide pod or the new Evo Tide tiles even when you add an extra rinse. I wash my sheets just my sheets with an extra rinse and they have soap residue that is very visible!

Hands down the worst washing machine ever. Buy literally anything else. Clothes come out dirtier than they go in. I am dead serious. Total piece of junk. Do not buy this under any circumstances, even if it’s free.

I ordered an LG WashTower (directly from LG.com) with in-home delivery and installation for my rental. The delivery was a disaster — no delivery window was ever confirmed, there was no way to reach the drivers, my tenant lost a workday and I took the afternoon off. When the unit arrived with two small dents, the driver wrongly claimed installing it would void the warranty and took it back (an LG rep later confirmed that was false). I then received false "delivered" text and email notifications. Weeks later: no replacement date, no named contact, multiple unreturned supervisor callbacks, and my tenant still has no working washer/dryer — while LG was paid in full. Deeply disappointing. Avoid LG direct delivery.

Do not buy this washing machine. Especially from Lowe's. Does not clean clothes. Runs for an hour and a half. Clothes are not even wet. Horrible ordeal to get them to get this $700 piece of junk out of my house.

Please note: over the years, we have had a variety of LG washers, dryers, dish washers, and refrigerators. All have performed at least adequately. The machine described below should never have been released for sale. And, as you will see below, what started as frustration with one LG product has since become major frustration with the LG company because of customer service apparently designed to make dissatisfied buyers of this particular model simply give up. We were completely open to a resolution but it appears that LG is not.

LG Mega Capacity All-In-One Washer/Dryer. Model: WM6998HBA. 8/19/25 Purchased from Home Depot, Juneau, AK. Mid 2/26 Posted a review to the HD website describing problems we were having with the machine. 2/26/26 LG responded, assigned Case # **. At the same time, either LG or Home Depot removed our review from the HD website. Over the following months:

      1. LG sent “helpful” tips such as make sure installed correctly, check drain hoses, clean filters regularly, run tub clean cycle.
      2. We responded to every contact and, when we did not hear back, sent a new message inquiring about status of our “case.” LG responded that they were “creating an account,” “researching,” looking into matter.”
      3. During this time, LG also sent two notices that LG was “closing this case.” No reason stated. We responded that they had offered no solutions and we did not consider the case closed.

      4. 5/27/26. Received text that our case had been escalated case to a Presidential Liaison.

      a. Liaison sent a link to a website requiring three AM/PM time slots when we would be available. No combination of AM/PM slots over next month would activate “submit” option.
      b. Liaison sent another link to a site showing times liaison was available. We scheduled a call for two days later.
      c. Call came unexpectedly, at a different time, and by the time we answered the line was dead.

      d. Approximately one week later, we received a message saying the liaison had called again but we “did not answer.” The phone was on, we had been available, and there was no evidence of a call in our “recents.”

      e. We answered an unexpected call from the general LG phone number, listened to the automated message that the call would be recorded, and then the line went dead.
      f. 6/5/26. We called the general LG phone number and finally found our way to an “existing case” option. That person could not connect us to “our liaison,” but scheduled a call for us at approximately 12:30 pm the following day, Alaska time. 6./6./26. We literally sat by the phone from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and kept the phone available the rest of the day. No call.

      g. 6/8/26. Sent a text to the liaison saying, “No call as promised. What are the next steps.”

      Examples of problems.

      1. Machine is erratic. It reliably completes wash/rinse/spin/dry cycle approximately half the time.

      2. Some cycles appear to be more erratic (less reliable) than others. AI Wash and Small Loads cycles are least reliable. Normal seems to be somewhat more reliable, but not completely. Except for the delicate cycle, the initial settings and performance of the other cycles (towels, jeans, mixed) appear to be all the same in terms of temperature, spin setting, soil level, dryness setting, and do not appear to make any difference in terms of performance.

3.We have given up running anything more than small loads, approximately ½ or less the size we would run in any other washer/dryer we have used. The “mega-capacity” designation does not reflect the capability of the machine. We always clean filters every load and, when there are problems, we pause the machine and check the filters mid-cycle. Clogged exhaust, condenser, or drain filters have never been a problem. We use a medium amount of major brand detergent.

      4. The pre-cycle “sensing” does not appear to do anything at all.

      a. The machine never completes the full cycle in the amount of time “sensed” at the beginning, at least doubling and sometimes tripling that pre-cycle estimate, even though no items have been added since the machine first “sensed” the load. The filters may have some lint but it is excessive. They are not “clogged.”

      b. When the machine “updates” the amount of time remaining, it always adds time and never reduces time. It does not reduce time even when we remove some items. On several occasions, we have paused the machine, removed all items, leaving the machine empty, un-paused, and it still does not reduce the remaining time estimate, sometimes actually increasing it.

      c. The machine appears to introduce the same amount of water, regardless of the size of the load it supposedly “senses,” whether it is a small load of underwear or a medium load like 2 bath towels, two hand towels, two washcloths.

      d. Sometimes, there is no evidence that the detergent has entered the machine, although the dispense is empty. Then, the next load adds two hours two clear an “over-sudsing” condition.

      5. “Sensing” during cycles is no more helpful than the initial “sensing.” Often, when machine set to normal dry, we have paused the machine and found the laundry adequately dry to normal level, but machine still estimating 90 minutes to two hours remaining. Other times, the clothes are so wet and the machine is estimating so much remaining time that we have simply given up and hung our clothing to dry.

      6. Approximately 2-3 loads out of 10, we find the machine in dry cycle, but the load is soapy and sopping wet. The machine appears to have completely skipped the rinse/spin cycles. On other occasions, we have found the machine stopped and shut off, with the clothing sitting in wet, soapy water.

      a. When the above happens, we shut off the machine, wait a few minutes, and then attempt to restart the machine in spin/dry cycle only. When the spin/dry only cycle fails, we have to start a new wash/rinse/spin/dry cycle (without adding additional detergent).

      b. After one of these episodes, as an experiment, we put two completely clean, dry, normal size bath towels in the machine and attempted a “dry only” cycle. The machine estimated 1 hour, 46 minutes to dry two completely clean, dry towels.

I own a bed and breakfast and we have 2 sets of washers and dryers. We have a Maytag large capacity washer upstairs and a Whirlpool dryer (the least expensive) and LG washer and dryer downstairs. When we had to replace the old LG washer and dryer (which was very good), we purchased the new LG top of the line washer and dryer. Big mistake. The LG washer is so temperamental that if you don't add water into the liquid fabric softener bin before you add softener, it just sticks to the tray.

The LG dryer is the WORST decision I have ever made. It has ruined comforters, blankets, and tablecloths by pulling the seams apart and pulling the threads right out of the fabric into loops that you can't get back in. Everything is always in a ball, and I even have to separate out the top sheets and pillow cases and dry them separately from the fitted sheets which takes double the time. If I had it to over again, I would purchase another Maytag washer and very inexpensive but WONDERFUL Whirlpool dryer. Don't fall for the old saying, "You get what you pay for". It's so not true with LG.

LG signature washer 5.8. Purchased the set and the originals were delivered May 17, 2026. The dryer has been great however the washer is a nightmare built with cheap plastic parts. The ezDispense you push in to get in and out when filling the laundry detergent and softener. Washer number 1 - the EZ lock mechanism was broke when arrived. Called up Lowe’s and they set up a swop out for May 19, 2026. Washer number 2 - it arrives and works until today! Once again the lock mechanism is not working.

I call to schedule service… Get a representative who is very hard to understand and he’s not understanding me. When I asked to speak with someone else he got very hostile and threatened to hang up and began arguing. He was trying to mail me a new dispenser drawer which is not what is needed… Then he thinks it’s best he transfers me to parts…which is closed. Call back…. Select number 3 to speak to a different representative. They pick up then immediately hang up. Call back a third time. Get a nice lady. She request that I send her pictures of the part (which is made of Dollar Tree Barbie cheap plastic). Sent the pictures and the line is silent for a while then hangs up.

Call back a fourth time to get the recording that they are closed. My son at this point has removed the 2 screws holding it in and pulls out the cheap plastic and a center part is clearly broke off…. Purchased a warranty on both units and spent over an hour of my evening attempting to set up a service call and still don’t have an appointment. Customer service is horrific. Steer clear.

Just bought a LG top loader thin q. Heard LG was GREAT!!. It has no delicate cycle, gentle cycle!!. To get it, you have to download the app, pair the machine, get the qr code, etc, etc. Really?? It sucks!!! First and last LG product. I'll stick and should've stuck with reliable Whirlpool. That's all I've had for 40 yrs. All my appliances have been Whirlpool. This is what I get for being an idiot listening to idiots!

I had a front load LG washer which worked great. After moving to a new home, we bought a top load LG Model WT8400CW. Huge mistake. My clothes do not come out clean, whites come out dingy, dark colors come out with bleached spots (I never used bleach in this machine), clothes come out without being fully wet (even using the Deep Wash setting), clothes come out tangled and twisted. DO NOT BUY this machine. It is complete waste of a lot of money. Also, just an annoyance - the tops of both the washer and dryer are angled downward so things slide off onto the floor.
