My washer makes clothes smell very, very bad. Nothing helps. It is also very shaky which doesn't help leveling either. Finally, the pump makes a terrible noise.

I have had clothes ruined and bought new towels and washed them before using them and now their ruined.

We bought an LG front loader washer/dryer to replace our Whirlpool which died after 18 months. We already began frustrated! First mishap was tags were getting caught in between the dryer drum and the seal by the lint trap. Called service - they came out a tighted the seal and left. I came down to my dryer to find that the servicer hadn't even put all the screws back in and my lint trap was hanging! So, we called service to come back out to fix. Tags were still getting caught so we called service again. This time the drum was replaced and the problem has been fixed. Then my washer started to smell moldy. A friend told me to run a bleach load and to wipe down the plastic part of the door on a regular bases, which I have done and the moldy smell is no longer in my clothes and towels. (I use a Lysol wipe on the door.) Then, my dryer about burnt my house down. I smelled plastic burning and found that the electrical hook up in the top display was melted and the wire was about to be exposed. OH MY GOD! I could have lost my house and my family! Called LG immediately. It took 2 weeks for someone to come out and we were told they would just come and recommend we get a new dryer since it almost started on fire. All of a sudden, approximately 1-2 weeks later, we started receiving replacement parts in the mail. We called LG and again demanded that we receive a new dryer and that we would not accept our dryer being fixed. If it were to start on fire, any damage could be denied by our insurance since we know about the defect. Guy came and fixed the dryer - it has been sitting unused. We have requested to speak to managers and have a 1 week waiting period. A manager was supposed to call us back and it has been 2 weeks. We called today and sat on the phone for another 45 minutes just to request to speak to a manager and again demand a new dryer.

We have not received any money as promised by LG representatives for the inconvenience of not having our dryer. I have had approximately $50 in clothes since ruined due to not having my dryer. Since our insurance could deny a claim for any damage due to that dryer, we have basically lost the cost of the dryer, which I believe we paid $2200 for the set with extended warranties (which I believe are now a bunch of crap!). If an attorney is reading this, I would very much like to know if I can sue over this. I don't think it is unreasonable for a person to ask for a new dryer after it almost burns your house down - especially when the dryer is only a few months old.

Before Christmas 2005 we purchased a LG Tromm frontloader Model: WM2277HW, from Best Buy. The salesman at Best Buy told us this was the best washer we could buy, that is was an awesome machine. And that it would be perfect for us, since we, run on a slow day, two loads of laundry.

Almost immediately we started having problems. The LE or OE codes would come on repeatedly and we would have to manually drain the machine even though there was nothing plugging the drain. The electronics on this machine gave us repeated fits. The door would lock and stay locked; error code would stay on for a day or longer; and worst of all the machine will randomly stop in a middle of a load-with anywhere from 3-35 minutes left in the cycle.

By summer 2006 the door started leaking and the detergent dispenser started leaking. We had to have the door mechanism replaced. Then we had to have the entire door seal replaced. A bearing was replaced when the washer started making ungodly noises. Error codes continued in random inervals shutting the laundry down for days at a time.

During this whole time I started noticing the greying and smell in the clothes. I thought this was related to the machine continuously shutting itself down while full of clothes and water. Now I realize the machine always does this to the clothes even when we get lucky and have a two or three day washing run with limited shut downs. The door still leaks and the loud noises are back with a vengence.

    PLEASE DON'T BUY AN LG!

The customer service at LG is the anti-customer service. When I called for about the tenth time a few weeks ago, they said there is nothing they could or would do, but thanked me for giving them the information, so they could pass it on to their factories in China in order to improve the machines.

    LG-Life is NOT good!

We paid close to a $1000 for this machine and have spent several hundred dollars on repairs. Most loads have to be run 2-3 times before the cycle will complete, thereby using that much water water and electricity. The whites are grey and faintly musty smelling. The machine smells and black mold developes quickly on the door seal.

I purchased an LG front loader washer from Best Buy 4 years ago. It is turning my white clothes dingy, gray/brown. There are also mysterious stains that show up on my white clothes. It doesn't matter how much bleach, etc. I put in the washer--they get more and more dingy. Best Buy is coming out to look at it this week as we have a 5-year warranty.

I have to re-buy whites (undergarments, socks, shirts, etc.) for my family of four every 2-3 months.

The front load wash. mach. around the rubber gasket area stays wet when wash is done and has become moldy and has a terrible smell of mold. The company tells you to leave the door open, but that is not an option for me since it's a pass through laundry room and the door cannot remain open the area is too narrow. I do leave the door open overnight, but the machine has such a black mold buildup in it that it does not help. It's really a health issue and the company has no solution. I have been calling about this problem since the machine was only 1 month old and now I have it 1 yr and 3 mos.It was very high end and I paid $935. for it and the company has no satisfactory solution. It is definately a design flaw that the gasket cannot be dried and the moisture turns into black, thick gunk of mold.

This machine has made me sick to my stomach on many occasions the mold odor is so strong in my laundry room. I can hardly stand to use this machine.

June 2006 we bought a house with a laundry closet that required stackables. So I gave up my used $200 Kenmore toploaders that had been serving me well for years and got an LG front loading washer & dryer. I was actually sort of excited to get such a cool high-tech washer and dryer. Oh the money and water I was going to save! Oh how clean my clothes were going to get with this great machine! And I'd save on detergent? What a win-win situation!

Imagine my HORROR, shock, disappointment and FURY to discover this thing is a complete and total DUD. From the very beginning, the washer has smelled like a musty old gym locker (or worse). I even became diligent about taking stuff out of the washer soon after the cycle finished, instead of sometimes leaving them in there for 2 days because I forgot about them. Nothing mattered... the thing stank and then... so did my clothes.

My husband and I purchased a LG frond load washer WM2277HW and dryer set Jan 23 2007. At the end of Feb/beginning of March the door lock took approx 10 min to release following washing clothes. A service person came and changed the switch - didn't help, ordered the electronic control panel, it came in about a month later. LG send the wrong part. The service man was able to get the washer to work anyway. This process took approx 6 wk to 2 mo.

In Sept., the the same door would not lock. We can't use the washer at all. Service person came out, decided to replace all parts connected to the door since this was the second time the situation has happened. Came back 1 to 2 weeks later with the door switch and said that he hoped it would work because control panel (and any anything else he might have ordered) was on back order from the company. We purchased an LG washer & dryer in February 2006. We first noticed a smell shortly after they were installed and the odor became increasingly worse. We contacted the repair service and were advised that this was a common problem with the LG washer. We were told to clean the trap and run a bleach load once a week. What a joke, it didn't work. I contacted customer service at LG and was told to run a bleach load once a week and clean the trap. Also to leave the door open. I informed them that we were doing that and it made no difference. I also told them that there was a black mold on the door seal. They said just wipe it off with a bleach rag.

I also questioned them about telling people to leave the door open and the possibility of a child getting in and closing the door. They had never thought of that. DA-A I asked them, what the Consumer Product Safety Commision would say. I have never had to work so hard to be able to do a load of wash. I should have kept my old Whirlpool. LG is pitiful in their products, customer response and service. I would throw them out if we hadn't spent over $2000 on them -and then again maybe I will do just that :-(

Inatially I thought it was something I did wrong. Since I have washed laundry for many years in many different machines. Also it leaves our clothing dirtier than before we washed them. It leaves stains on our clothing that was not there when I put the laundry in the machine. It was not until reading many other consumer reviews that I was not alone with this terrible situation. (1) I purchased the washer/dryer combo in December, 2003. The washing machine leaves a PUDDLE OF DIRTY WATER in the rubber seal of the door. It has to be wiped off before removing the clean clothes or they will drag through the puddle and get dirty again. I have to leave the washer door open after every usage to dry out or there will be an AWFUL MOLDY SMELL accumulating in my washer(smell is much worse in hot weather!). I've never had this happen with a washing machine before.

    (2) This is a new complaint I have not seen as of yet...this washing machine utterly DESTROYS MY WHITE CLOTHES. It leaves them with a DINGY GRAY COLOR THAT WILL NEVER COME OUT. It doesn't matter how big or small the load is or weather I use hot or cold water or if bleach is used or not. It makes no difference. I have put brand new blouses and undergarments in the washer and they are never white again. My husband works in a hospital and must wear white uniforms. These uniforms have become completely dingy and gray after washing and only become worse and worse till he just cannot wear them anymore because it becomes so embarrassing. He then has to get new uniforms.

    (3) From time to time I discover LARGE'DIRTY SPOTS' on my clothes after removing them from the washer. These are not on the clothes prior to putting them into the washer. They can show up on any garment but usually more on the cotton fabrics. I don't know what these 'dirty spots' are. They almost look like an oil. I cannot get them out.

I can only imagine this is happening because there is not enough sufficient water to wash and rinse the clothes thoroughly. I can never wash my white clothes in this washer any more. If this is how dirty the white clothes are coming out, the dark and colored clothes are dirty too, but you just cannot see it as well because they are dark. I am greatly disappointed. A washing machine at any price should not make your clothes look dirtier. A washer like this should not be on the market.

I submitted a prior report or two on the front loading LG machine having a musty/moldy smell all the time. I have finally found the real solution -- STOP using commercial detergents and fabric softeners (they build up between the drums causing the musty/moldy smell).
START using Maggie's Soap Nuts (all natural - grow on trees and available at Whole Foods or www.newstarget.com and other internet sites.)
Make a liquid out of them by simmering them in water, squishing the soap out (I used a potato masher) and then mix the liquid with some water and store it in an old detergent bottle. Pour it into the liquid detergent compartment of your washer instead of detergents - VOILA! -- no more smelly machine or clothing
and it's better for the machine, your health, your clothes. your septic tank
    and the environment!

The person that they sent had never even seen an LG appliance before. (Now we had called a dealer that handled LGs before we purchased these appliances as they were very expensive and we had never spent that much money on a washer & dryer before. They gave them rave reviews. When we called them to service ours they didn't come to our area for service.)

Well, our dryer was serviced and that lasted about 2 months when the control panel went out and again we had to have a service man come to the house. I again took time off work to have this done. The washing machine was actually moving to the other side of the laundry room when it was in the spin cycle. I called LG customer service and explained the problem and they referred me to a local company to come and service...not Home Depot. The local company came out and leveled the unit and set it up correctly. After 6 months, the washer started smelling like mold and the clothes came out moldy. Called LG customer service and they told me that I had to empty the reservoir and clean the filter on the bottom of the machine. Still smelled. Called again and they told me to run bleach through the machine. Did that and still smells like mold. Called again and they are going to send out the same local repair service again to steam clean the unit. When I spoke to the local repair company which is also one of the largest local appliance stores in town, I found out that they no longer show the LG washer or dryers on their showroom because they have too many problems with them. He told me that they have problems with 6 out of 10 units sold and it was too much in repair cost...They will not sell any more until LG rectifies the problem.

Bought the LG washer and dryer and had the door rattling loudly at first. Took 3 repair calls to fix. Then the musty smell started. Each time a repair guy came out it was something we were doing wrong. Too much soap, not enough soap. We have had a smell in the dryer, the repair guy told us not to use softener sheets, use liquid. Use it a couple of times and the washer stunk up the whole house. Next tech said never use liquid softener even though the machine has a dispenser. He said liquid softener goes rancid in the filter trap.

They are offering to do a one time cleaning of the machine as a favor. I notified them that no matter how little soap we use, the filter has soap residue in it. I asked could it not be rinsing properly and the said that it was normal and not to worry.

We purchased the LG front loader washer/dryer combo one year ago. Since then, it has leaked three times and leaves my towels smelling like mold. Also, water is always present in the fabric softener cup when the cycle is complete. A repair tech told me that I need to use he detergent (which I have used and still have had the problem). He said the suds from the regular soap build up, causing leakage and leaves the film behind. I've been instructed to wash to cycles w/o clothing, using vinegar, which I have not yet done. Now, I'm my wash cycle stops and I get a signal LE. I've just phone the repair company again and I'm waiting to see what happens next.

My husband and I purchased a LG front load washer and dryer from Home Depot in March of 06. Not too long after we received it the washer started smelling like mildew. I call LG and they said run bleach through it. . . I did, with no change. I called back, they then said to wipe the gasket out after each time washing clothes. I did this too and nothing changed. By this time our clothes are smelling like mildew when they are wet. I called LG again, this time we had service person come and they agreed it smelled like mildew, but there was nothing that could be done. Finally after 2 additional service companies came to service the washer and dryer, they replaced the gasket in the washer. The water no longer sat in the gasket, but the washer and dryer still had a mildew smell. Finally in October of 06 they replaced the washer and dryer. By this time it had ruined all of our clothes that were ever completely dried in the dryer (socks, t-shirst, underware, sheets, towels), anytime any of these items would get damp or wet, they smelled like mildew. When bringing this to the attention fo LG, they said that product liability would have to inspect our product for defect. We sent them an itemized list of clothing and other items that needed replacement, by their request. There was never a response to any phone call that I ever made to the company. Every voicemail that was left went unreturned. I called for months (Nov. 06-March 07) to try and resolve the replacement cost issue. The legal department never returned calls or answered when put through to that department. When I finally did reach someone he said that they had great turn over in that department and only 4 people to get to all the complaints. After leaving 7 messages for him (shawn) I was put through to April. This was now the 4th person that I spoke to in 4 mo. in the legal department. April assured me that her manager was reviewing the case and would make a decision by the week of 2-19-07. I never heard from her again. I finally called 3 times this week and got ahold of her the 3rd try (she didn't return my voicemails either), she indicated that her manager would be sending us a release letter that we should sign with a notery. They would then issue a check for replacement costs.

I have been noticing a musty smell when I open the washer door - it never goes away, even though I leave the door open to air dry the washer between washings. There is also about 1/2 of residue water in the detergent tray after the washing is complete. I have cleaned out the drains, the gasket and the detergent trays but they do not fix the problem.

I called LG customer service and they seemed to know of no current problems that would cause it but, indicated it could need a new pump and referred me to the local authorized service agent that told me the washer was out of warranty and it would be a COD call. I decided to wait and check the internet to see if there were other complaints.

WOW - wish I had seen all of these complaints before I bought these expensive but useless machines. Amazing that there's complaints on the internet but the company know of no problems that would cause this musty/moldy smell. I should have kept my 20 year old Maytag!!

We purchased an LG washer and dryer in April 2004, and are experiencing our third breakdown. The two previous dryer repairs cost us over $500.

A repairman came to service our washer and reported to us that it is basically shot, needs a new motor, stainless steel drum, outside drum and several other parts. It will also require two servicemen to complete the repairs, at a cost of at least $200 labor. According to his professional opinion, we are looking at another $500 to repair the washer.

We originally paid over $2000 for the pair. This will add over $1000 in repairs in less than 3 years.

Six different repair companies attempted repair but ALL failed due to poor design in rollers. ALL STATED LG ENGINEERING HAS ADMITTED NO FIX AVAILABLE. Seven sets of rollers and a dryer replacement should be proof enough.

Ran machine next day leaked again. Repair man came, said he couldn't fix contacted LG they told him to order same part again. Now waiting. Washing Machine under warranty , 1st year, so LG is responsible. When part arrives, in a week,if that doesn't solve the problem then repair man will file a Can't Fix form. It will then take LG 21 days to Process the Paper( that is there official position) and then I can order a replacement. TOTAL TIME without a washer will be 8 weeks. Does anyone find that reasonable??

Washing machine flashes error message 1E..water inlet error. There isn't a water inlet error because there is plenty of water (stagnant) in the machine each load. We've drained the water from the machine at least 10 times to no avail. This is a Tromm unit that cost over $1000 with tax and we are disgusted with this appliance. Our tile floor is shot because we drain the Tromm about 3x a week and the buckets overflowed 2 x!

Repairman came out a week ago today and stated he'd have to order a part. No phone call, no ETA, no nothing, so I called Customer Service. They assured me that they emailed the repair person and have notified them of my problem.

I had a 14 yr. old Whirlpool top loader that worked perfectly. The only reason we looked for a new machine was that the barrel in the washer started rusting. Now I wish I'd kept the Whirlpool unit.

I'm tired of being told to clean the seal with bleach and vinager; it doesn't work nor should I have to do this after each load. I have kept the seal clean after every load.

LGs return policy is within 48 hours. After 48 hours they have to send a repair service to see if it can be fixed. Service came to house TWO WEEKS later to confirm that it will not work, its done, and needs to be REPLACED. Nobody can tell me when I could expect my new dryer.

First, why should I have to? Second, the manual doesn't say this. What the manual says, in a tiny section, is to keep it dry to maintain a proper seal. Nowhere does it warn that if I don't keep it dry after each use I will have gross, smelly and unhealthy mold or mildew in my home.

I purchased a new LG Front load dryer on February 28, 2006 from Home Depot. It was delivered to my home approximately two weeks later and set up by a subcontractor hired by Home Depot. On April 23, 2006 and withput warning my dryer suddenly failed. I called LG to report the matter. a technician came to my home and advised the power cord was not installed properly and shorted out the dryer. He conferred with LG's technical support and ordered parts. he came back to work on the dryer. installed the ordered parts and new power cord. The dryer would not operate.

He again conferred with LG technical support. They ordered more parts. Almost every part in the dryer. He came back again installed the parts and the dryer still did not work. They ordered the rest of the parts not previously replaced and reordered the parts he just replaced. He came back for a third time on May 8, 2006. He replaced all the parts and the dryer was not operational. After three visits the tech repair center finally condemmed my dryer and deemed it not repairable. They advised I would have a new dryer within ten days. All I needed to do was fax in my proof of purchase.

On May 9, 2006, I faxed in my proof of purchase. Instead of being forwarded to the return authorization dept. it sat on a customer service representatives desk until Thursday May 11, 2006, when I called to follow up on the status. They advised their customer service rep. overlooked sending the proof of purchase to the return authorization dept and they would take care of it immediately. However, they could not tell me when I could expect to hear from that department and I was told tommorow was Friday so nothing would get done.

I was very angry at this point so I called home depot and their manager called LG and told me they would be calling me the next day on May 17 and that I could possibly have my dryer the same day if they processed the return. I received a telephone message from LG saying my dryer was ordered but no comment as to when I could expect its arrival. I called to get more information.I was advised that a logistics company would be contacting me to arrange delivery of my dryer. I called the delivery company to follow-up on May 22,2006. they indicated that they received the job on May 17,2006, but can not pick up the dryer until it is released form the LG Warehouse. No time frame was given as when I could expect to receive delivery of my dryer.

I called home depot again on May 22, 2006 to get assistance from their management. I await their return call. I have been without a dryer for a month.

Had a 2yr guarantee, tried to call the services centre usine number given on back of manuel, eventually got through after 2 days to be told they hadn't dealt with LG for 4 yrs!! Eventually got through to service centre Fri 7/04/06, company called ServiceLine, arranged for someone to call out Tues 11/04, took day off work they never showed up. After much to do the service call centre arranged for someone to call out at 8am the following morning, he left at 8.45am saying I needed a part & if it was in stock he would get someone to drop it in tomorrow, but instead of ordering it there and then he waited until the end of the day.

Following day they were unable to come out, serviceline unhelpful, no one senior to talk to, manager was 'out', argued that it was there mistake and they should put themselves out ie courior the part across but no they don't do that. I tried to explain the meaning of customer service to no avail. Would only promise for the following Tuesday 18/04. Rang LG who were sympathetic but could only advise I wrote in with a complaint, again explained customer service and that they were Service Lines customers but again it idn't sink in, again refused to put me through to a senior person.

No washing machine over Easter but at least an engineer was coming on Tuesday. Another day off work but when I rang to confirm a time they hadn't had the part in, the delivery hadn't arrived. Couldn't confirm a day at all. Rang LG and after much complaining the call centre person spoke to Serviceline and told me to ring in 20mins when they would give me a time fo today when the engineer would be out. Two phone calls later the Service Centre call centre staff laugh down the phone when I suggest the engineer coming out today. Ring LG and my call is esculated to Jason in the escalation team. who rang Serlines esculation team and I was promised a phone call from the engineer to let me know when they would be coming out. No phone call came even though I chased it again with Jason. It is now 17.37 and I have no idea when my machine will be fixed.

Service call to LG and the answer is this model of machine should loaded 11 lbs of clothing in dry condition, otherwise will be too much.
