I enrolled in Delta Dental in April 2021 and retained continual family coverage until December 31, 2025. I retired but I enrolled with Delta Dental on January 1, 2026 to keep continual coverage. My wife had some dental work done in March 2026 and the claims were denied due to a waiting period that excludes payment for major services for those covered less than 12 months. I filed an appeal with Delta Dental that was denied. I filed a complaint with the Florida Division of Consumer Services, but they took no action. My customer loyalty to Delta Dental did not pay off. They are claiming that we are subject to a new 12 month waiting period because we started a new Delta Dental policy due to a change in employment status. Hopefully if you are reading this you will pick another insurer.

Delta Dental is a complete scam and should cease to exist. I signed up for insurance three months ago and was assigned to the wrong facility. It took them three months and >10 calls for me to be reassigned and then when I was reassigned they told the new facility that they could no longer accept new customers from the HMO plan. Worst experience I have ever had with a company.

Be very careful if you have a primary insurance that pays for cleanings. Primary paid for cleaning and claimed that it was 100% covered. Dental office submitted claim to Delta and they say I owe $19. Primary paid $100 and Delta says they would have paid $119. So I’m to pay the $19 that they won’t. I even went to one of their PPO’s. Save yourself some money and put in in a separate fund instead. Getting claims from this co. is like pulling teeth!

We have been paying premiums ($180 for wife and son) for 6 months and recently my wife needed urgent crown work on a deteriorating tooth. Delta Dental said she had to wait another 6 months before they would cover any portion of the crown work! Thank God health insurance does not work this way! Absolutely horrible concept when an unexpected emergency occurs. We will just pay clinics directly for actual work performed and ditch delta dental. What a BS insurance provider!

Delta Dental reason for claim coverage is horrible. Having a surgical implant and they will not cover anesthesia even thought coverage show 90% coverage. If you have other company selection for dental insurance, we would strongly suggest you not use Delta Dental. Not only they make it difficult for you to file an appeal, they will make every effect to not pay for coverage that should be covered.

I had a wrong information. So I upgraded my to a better option paying 82 dollars/mo. After 3 month I called again and they said I will not be cover for an implant after 6 month. You don't know what to believe, a total waste of money. The customer service is really bad and even they charge my credit card monthly I get emails that I'm late for payments

A complete waste of money!! Absolutely Awful! Awful customer service, total avoidance in paying for claims. Delta Dental also gave me problems saying my orthodontics did not file their part of the claim correctly, and after spending days in calling back and forth, it turned out the claim was done properly- I ended up dropping it rather than keep paying to try get some properly due money back. Find some other insurance. I wish I had found this site before purchasing this insurance.

I am SO disappointed in Delta Dental that if my employer offered another provider I would LEAVE. I have contacted Delta Dental over the years for various dentists not doing quality work and leaving other dentists to try and fix the mess they created. I figured, after sitting in a chair for 4 hrs and being in immense pain with uncontrollable bleeding that it was time to take action. They couldn't care less! They are only concerned premiums and costs so the patient loses. SHAME ON YOU DELTA DENTAL.

Worthless company, no coverage, denies everything. If insurance had any concern for their customers, they would not partner with such fraudulent companies.

My fiancée had a tooth extracted over a year ago, which he paid out of pocket. It had not yet been a year since his plan began, so it was not covered. A few months ago he decided to get an implant to fill the space. The implant was finally put in last week, and he was notified yesterday that Delta Dental had denied his claim. Delta stated that the implant procedure was connected to the extraction he had over a year ago. Nope. No issues with extraction. However, Delta uses that to deny any claim he's filed.
Typical practice of a sham insurance company. They want you to pay your premiums and will use any excuse to deny your claim. Then give you the runaround until you finally give up. I've been in healthcare for 40+ years, and have seen this game before from less-than-reputable insurance companies. We have exhausted all options, short of a lawsuit. That will cost even more, and I'm sure their attorneys are pretty experienced in fighting lawsuits against Delta.

This dental insurance has been the biggest waste of money and time I’ve ever had in insurance. Mind you, this is offered through my employer. The HMO policy isn’t accepted by ANY pediatric dentist in my area, then if you file a grievance, they send you an option, you call and the office themselves states that dentist doesn’t even see children. What a freaking scam. Don’t waste your time!

This has to be the worst experience of my life! Delta Dental I was told the #1 in Dental Insurance turn out to be the "Worst". They covered nothing as I was told, "I'm sorry this did not happen to you while you had our insurance...." ALWAYS AN ESCAPE CLAUSE!!! I WASTED SO MUCH MONEY EVERY MONTH!!!!

I paid $30 each month for nine months. 💸 My dental office called Delta dental and was told they covered annual teeth cleaning and xrays completely. ☺️Delta Dental paid NOTHING. 🥴I've canceled this dental insurance and will pay out of pocket as I'm blessed with good teeth.

Delta doesn't cover anything. Need REAL dental work done, like wisdom teeth, a bridge, a root canal? You're on your own, they don't cover it. They've also been over charging us almost double for the past few months, and now saying that one of the two people on our plan has no coverage. They're just like other insurance companies, out to take your money, but never there to pay up when the product they've sold you needs to be used. Forget them and just pay on your own, you'll be money ahead.

Do not waste your money with them. They only covered $140 of an almost $900 eye doctor visit in their network. I got this plan through my employer. I will not be signing up again next year. For what they pay out just save your money and pay out-of-pocket. You will pay less.

I started having a lot of dental issues due to illness. I found out the hard way that Delta only covers 2 "exams" per year - no matter what they are for. Example - dentist looks at your teeth when you get your cleaning, that's an exam. You have a tooth that hurts? That's another exam. If that tooth hurts again & you go back? That's another exam. So unless you have absolutely zero issues and just need a twice yearly cleaning & exam... you're going to pay thru the nose. I'm gonna end up bankrupt just taking care of my teeth. No wonder there aren't many dentists in the PPO.

Terrible experience. I went in for a chipped tooth and was told they could fix it with bonding—no price given. They took an X-ray and pushed a deep cleaning without quoting costs. Despite having dental insurance, they ignored it, pushed financing through a third party, and created a $4,660 treatment plan. I was later billed $1,193 with no explanation. The next day, I visited another clinic, got clear pricing, and paid $58 out of pocket. Avoid this place—no transparency, no respect for insurance.

Another vote saying this insurance is garbage. Paying for a gold tier plan, and insurance won't cover full mouth x-ray at the recommended frequency. This is really standard preventative care.

Delta Dental, noticed you increased my premium - by just charging me more on my autopayment plan. Common courtesy would have been to at least notify me by email or postal mail that you were increasing the premium. I don't like doing business with insurance companies that try to sneak price increases without notifying their policy holders. This really is a bad business practice. Very disappointed with your company. I will be looking to replace this policy ASAP.

Had dental care at Aspen Dental Brookhaven PA. Service provided was terrible. They did inaccurate service as crown kept falling off and tooth chopped. Placed grievance with Delta Dental. They did not accept grievance. Said it was past the date of service.

I don’t even know why I have insurance. With the procedures that I need done and with the determination that Delta Dental has made on how much they think those procedures should cost, my out-of-pocket cost it’s almost as much as I paid for insurance this year. I literally would have saved money by not having insurance.

Customer service is rude and condescending. I called to clarify an aspect of my plan and the agent was dismissive and impatient. The coverage for anything beyond a yearly cleaning is abysmal. The way they structure their coverage is misleading. Overall, they are a terrible company to engage with on any grounds and even worse when you actually need coverage for dental work.

My experience has been awful trying to get claims paid. I have submitted and resubmitted the same forms at Delta's request and each time by phone the representative is asking for information I already submitted. It has been the most confusing and disorganized attempt to get my claims paid. I have never seen such incompetence. They are certainly not in the business of helping clients and simplifying claims. Would not recommend for dental insurance.

My husband and I enrolled as private customers. Originally I used a credit card for the initial payment with during the enrollment period last year. Since mid January I encountered difficulty logging in the portal. "Salesforce error" with recommendation to contact customer service for assistance. I have called many times, and spoken to several representatives and always left hanging on the line to almost an hour; every time until I hang up.
No one ever reached back nor resolve the issue and seems like no one care. This is a disgrace to treat your customers so poorly considering that some of them are seniors (including me). This is a technical issue with the payment portal; totally depend on your team to resolve. Ignoring to address your customer's issues, speak volume about the company and the representatives.

I have had Delta Dental Insurance for the past few years through the company that I work for. I will never use them again now that I have a choice. They do okay (not good) with the routine dental work, paying the claim. But if you have any of the major work done where they pay 50% forget it. My dentist office has been fighting with Delta on my behalf for the past year. I had a crown placed on a cracked tooth that was pressure, hot and cold sensitive. They called Delta Dental for preapproval, and I got my quote on the procedure.
After the work was completed, Delta denied the claim, basing the denial on a lack of documentation. The dentist even completed a hand written not explaining why the procedure was necessary. I will do without dental insurance before paying a company, only to have my claim denied when I needed the service that I was paying for. I wouldn't have gotten a crown had I not needed it. Why would I have paid $1,500 out of my own pocket if it wasn't needed. Delta, I will "NEVER" recommend your insurance company to anyone again. Nor will I ever use you again.

Previously had the commercial version of Delta Dental High plan. Coverage was good. In January 2026, I switched to Fedvip Delta Dental High due to loss of commercial coverage. Coverage dropped significantly. I go to an out of network dentist. Out of network dentist charge is $1610 for crown. Under the commercial plan - $1610 was allowed with 50 % coverage after $50 deductible. Now under the Fedvip high plan, only $695 allowed with 40 % coverage after $50 deductible. I called both Commercial and Fedvip side of Delta Dental, to better understand the "why so high under Fedvip plan" - got the customary and usual explanation. Very disappointed - I am now stuck with Fedvip Delta Dental for a year. I am dumping next open season and would not recommend this high plan to anyone.

Worthless - I am currently residing overseas and have coverage with them through my previous employer. Every claim has to be mailed in, hard copy as they don't allow us to do it online. The sales representatives are impossible to reach via phone since they will not return my phone messages. They sent an email with links that take me to UNRESPONDED WEB SITES. I found two phone numbers on the web and was on hold for over an hour. I SHOULD NOT BE LOCKED OUT. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO USE THE EMPLOYER PORTAL?
