While I agree food quality is decent there seems to be more rice in the food than expected. In addition, Nom Nom doesn't ship with a lot of dry ice. Usually receive food with all dry ice melted and food starting to defrost and in a few cases fully dethawed. Asked Nom Nom to send more dry ice they said no. Tried ordering Nom Nom from Chewy a few times and they have no issue ensuring there is enough dry ice for food to arrive frozen from facility. On top of this Nom Nom has the worst customer service ever. Everything that happens they put on the customer as their fault. Even at sign up I had issues and called in was told that I was suspect of fraud for trying to open an account where someone at my address already had an account open. If you share a space or rent a space with someone Nom Nom may not be for you.

You have to jump through hoops to get a second account open at the same address only for PII and help desk tickets to be shared with the other person at the same address, which the other person has a different email address and everything else except home address. Even got last 4 of the other person's credit card number from Nom Nom along with other details. On top of that their system seems to not report accurately as well. Was told things occurred at different dates and times that do not match up to emails that were sent out for the emails I did receive.

For example, I told Nom Nom I didn't receive certain emails after checking spam and every folder in my email along with block lists. I was told the emails went out and it's my problem that it was not received by me. No investigation and Nom Nom IT was not notified by the time I decided to never do business with Nom Nom again. Heavily recommended either going to Chewy for Nom Nom food or not use them at all. There are plenty of high quality fresh food for the same price of Nom Nom or less.

Well, OnTrack, their delivery company sucks. BTW this delivery company sucks in general, as I've seen professionally and personally. OnTrack management and drivers don't seem to give a >>>insert profanity<<<. NomNom is going cheap. I understand, but when delivery isn't reliable and inconvenient (leaving in Amazon lockers w/o passcode or communication) or not delivering on time or as expected. Delivery issues = 3+ strikes, you're out. We're moving back to Ollie, where they're way more reliable because they seem not to have cheapen out. Our dog loves NomNom, but we're either going with a competitor or making his food now. Your delivery company cost you a customer. Look at all the other reviews. Maybe we should have quit a while back, now that I'm reading.

It also comes frozen with rubber bands around bunches that make it hard to store as the packages are all squished up into odd shapes. I have contacted them several times but only get the reply of. This was my first time trying this service, recommended by a friend, and it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. Without any notice or communication, my account was canceled and my order was terminated. I waited several days thinking the food would arrive, but nothing came. Because of this, I ended up wasting time and now my pet is nearly out of food, forcing me to rush and make an urgent last-minute purchase. Such irresponsible handling shows a serious lack of customer care. I truly expected better, but this experience has left me frustrated and unwilling to recommend this service to others.

The food is fine - no different than the other brands who do the same thing - but the packaging is absolutely atrocious. The packs come rubber banded together and because they are banded while at room temp, the rubber bands cut into the packaging and create these horrible indentations in every possible direction making it impossible to stack the packs neatly in the freezer. Seriously, super chaotic and unprofessional presentation, and some packs even busted in transit due to the pressure created from the banding. I am shocked at how such a large company can let their product leave the facility looking like this. I gave them 3 orders to get it right thinking maybe it was a mistake or oversight at first, but nope.

Hi Sharon, we're so sorry for the unexpected experience! We understand your concern and can reassure you that as long as the food arrives chilled, the meals are safe to serve (or freeze). We refer to the USDA regulations on refreezing: trynom.com/17jnn0

Our packaging is designed to keep Nom Nom cool to the touch until it arrives safely to you, but we do expect the dry ice to sublimate in transit. Please don't hesitate to reach us at care@nomnomnow.com with any additional questions. Thank you!

I had my dog on Farmer's dog and accidentally ordered Nom Nom. My dog is a picky eater but actually liked Farmer's dog. When I got to trial for Nom Nom I decided to give it a try. I received beef, chicken and turkey. I offered my dog all of the varieties and he would just smell it and walk away. I had quite a bit of food that he wouldn't eat so I offered it to two of my friends for their dog and they refuse to eat it too. I don't know what is in this food but apparently it needs something in it to make it tasty for dogs. At this point I have about 20 packages of food that I don't know what to do with. I went back to Farmer's dog and my dog is very happy now.

I have tried other Fresh food and they are better. The way they ship the food is poor and shows they don't care. They use rubber bands to secure 9 packages together and it makes it difficult to separate. Whereas Spot and Tango, Ollie, The Farmer's Dog all ship the items not bound by rubber band making it easier to unpack and store. For the price I would recommend another brand for your dog. The food quality is subpar compared to other brands.

Terrible customer service. (Seems to be consistent with what I've been reading now that I've had an issue.) We were trying out different foods for our dog as he became a bit pickier over the last few months (previously he ate The Farmer's Dog and loved it for years - think he just needs a break). We got a notification yesterday that NomNom was sending another delivery for a time that we are away from our house. We never received an email from NomNom alerting us of the upcoming delivery and now we are stuck paying $220 for food my dog can't ever eat (he also didn't like the food very much, we have some left over NomNom while we are currently on a trial for Ollie and he is liking that a lot more).

I tried talking to multiple customer service people, all extremely unhelpful and rude (laughing at me) which caused me to get EXTREMELY frustrated. Now letting everyone know they should stay away and go to The Farmer's Dog or Ollie. For more detail, they keep saying emails are sent automatically, which I don't doubt, but they must have a bug in their system. I checked all my email folders (inbox, spam, trash, etc.), and I have every other email from them (shipping, promotional, birthday wishes, etc.) but no email about an upcoming order.

Comparing Customer Service to The Farmer's Dog: A similar situation happened to us ~2 years ago with The Farmer's Dog where we actually DID miss the email because we were traveling, we reached out to their customer service just to see if there was anything they could do and they immediately refunded the order and helped us get the delivery for a day when we would be home.

I have a pair of picky eaters that took me a while to find something they like. We tried every kibble out there, tons of canned foods, and a few other frozen fresh companies. The girls love the Nom Nom and they are super healthy with great coats, their poops shrunk drastically in size, don't stink and are nice and firm. But...and it's a big but. I don't know if it's cheap plastic that can't take the the freezing, or just poor handling practices but very single order I get has numerous punctured bags. You don't know they are until you go to thaw them. Then you have a nasty leaky mess in your fridge. I complain to Nom Nom each time and they send the same cut and pasted response each time about "as long as the bag is still cool to touch when you receive it you can still use it, and if it's rotten your dogs nose will judge it for you.."

They do issue credits each time but I am not complaining to get money back, I want the food I'm spending $500/month on to be handled and treated like it costs $500/month. It much much too expensive to have these issues with 100% of the deliveries, and multiple bags. I order 84 bags every three weeks since December 2023, and between 3-6 bags each delivery are punctured or weren't sealed on one side and leak all over the fridge while thawing. Currently ordering samples of other brands to try. Such a shame too because the girls love it.

I have been ordering Nom Nom for my two Corgis. Unfortunately, they do not like the beef dinner so we changed back to Chicken and Turkey dinners. First issue was changing orders on the website. It only saved for one dog not both. This week I received a notice that the chicken meals are not available due to supply issues. And I would receive only half my order. That was the second issue. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that one pup's order was still beef...so I will receive 7 days if an order they won't eat.

Third issue....I was charged a second time for the new order, rather than just issue a refund difference...I was charged again after I had already paid for the first order.... Supposedly I am to receive a full refund for the first payment in 3-10 days. It makes me question the business practices. Obviously, I will be cancelling any future orders with Nom Nom. I am very disappointed with this company. The one good thing is that my local dog shelter will receive 7 days worth of Nom Nom for their shelter. At least 2 benefits from this. Really happy with Nom Nom. My dog is still a picky eater, and sometimes won’t eat immediately when it’s in front of him, but he went from having large piles of soft poop/diarrhea to having much smaller normal poops! It’s worth the money. My only feedback would be to update the packages to make them easier to open. Some of them don’t peel back and I have to cut them and it just gets messy. I also wish the packaging wasn’t so hard to store. Maybe something a little more solid so they stacked easier. I understand that could change the cost but storing them is difficult. I also wish you had the ability to order just two weeks of food versus the entire month.

It's extremely difficult to find a fresh dog food out there that doesn't send their dog food in frozen plastic. Is the food fresh? Yeah, I mean humans eat food from plastic every day. But that doesn't make me feel good about the extra two pieces of plastic that cannot be recycled. I'm throwing into the landfill every day. I ended up going back to Ollie dog food because they have a kibble version of their fresh food. So you know it's dried and that gives me a ton more freezer room, and it still comes in plastic but at least in a bag that lasts for a few weeks.

      Response from Nom Nom

Hi Aaron, thank you for reaching out to us about our packaging.

We appreciate your feedback! We are often asked if our packaging products are eco-friendly. The quick answer is: YES! You can find full details on how to best recycle and reuse your Nom Nom packaging here: nomnomnow.com/blog/recycling-pet-food-packaging

Most of our packaging is indeed recyclable, and some of it is reusable as well!

We recommend recycling your box. Our brown liners are made from renewable plant-based components and paper. These can be recycled the same way that cardboard can be recycled in your community.

Meal packs, once rinsed out, can be recycled in most cities, but you'll need to check with your local center.

Dry ice is very eco-friendly – it's made from recycled CO2 that already exists and would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.

In the past, we have tried several recycling programs with our delivery partners, to enable your Nom Nom box and packing materials to be reused week after week. Unfortunately, it became clear that returning packing materials (not all of which were in a re-usable state), created a much larger carbon footprint than having customers recycle packaging on their own.

If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact our Care Team! We are always happy to help.

I used another fresh frozen dog food but my dog got tired of it. I switched to NomNom and am impressed with the difference. You can see the veggies, potatoes, meat, etc in this food. The other food was cutting/processed into basically a mush. This looks much better, and my dog enjoys it.

My dog loves this food, his coat is softer, he is very active and happy, I'm so glad I found this company. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I find it inconsistent the weight of each bag. Sometimes it's over 175 grams, sometimes it's under. It should always be the same but you can see some of the bags are huge and some are not. That is really the only complaint I have. I don't want to feed him anything else, this is the best food for him. And he loves it so much.

Most importantly, my fussy dog currently enjoys the various recipes. I also like that the food comes in larger pieces, meaning that the individual ingredients are easily discernible at a glance. However, the packaging is awful. The individual food packages are clearly bound together with elastics before they are frozen, meaning that each individual package is misshapen. This makes the packages very difficult to store in a normal sized freezer, as they end up taking up much more space than they would if frozen in uniform shapes. Being bound tightly with elastics pre-freezing also seems to make the packages prone to leaks, and I often end up with a mess as I thaw them. Individual flat-freezing would hugely improve the consumer experience.

Inconsistency with between orders, last batch of chicken had yellow color (maybe like mustard or tumeric). The turkey has globs in it kinda like meat and cartilage balls. It’s was better when I first started but now I’m looking to switch dog food because I’m not satisfied with Nom nom anymore.

My dog is 9 years old and spent most of those 9 years vomiting at least once a week. I spent a huge amount of time and money on vet visits and tests, everything was inconclusive. The vet put her on a Rx food that she hated. Her muscle was wasting away while her belly was always bloated. She had no stamina for long walks and had lost her playful energy.

I finally started making her homemade fresh food. She improved a lot and liked the food but it was a huge time investment and it's tricky to get their nutrients exactly right. I gave Nom Nom a shot and was not expecting much, since other fresh food made her vomit. However, I am happy to report my dog has been on NomNom for 3 months with no vomiting! She even does a little jump every time I bring her food bowl over. She loves this food! Her coat has gotten really silky and soft and she has the energy to wrestle our wild puppy.

I love giving my dogs healthy alternatives to kibble, and they seem to really like this food for the most part. My picky dog is a fan of the chicken flavor but won't eat the other flavors. Here are some suggestions for improvement:

      * Packaging - all of the plastic/waste is upsetting, and the food itself is hard to open and ends up getting everywhere. The pull here flap never actually works for me, so I have to cut it open.

      * Tailored diets - would love to see food for dogs with health issues - my dog is supposed to be on a renal diet but refuses to eat any of the specific foods for that.

I appreciate the timely delivery and the recyclable shipment packaging. The food is eagerly eaten by my spaniel, eaten but with a bit less enthusiasm by my malamute/Lab mix. I find the plastic packaging that the meals come in to be somewhat awkward to open and quite messy, and I’ve noticed inconsistent amounts in various pouches. I have noticed that my malamute/Lab seems to be shedding less of his undercoat, which is great. Overall I am pleased with my switch to NomNom but will keep monitoring Baloo’s appetite for it.

I Want to know ph% of food. Kept referring me to their site. Wouldn’t answer. Finally told me couldn’t answer. I am going to cancel my subscription. I asked more than once. Why they can’t answer? It's important too since my dogs urine test came back 9%.

I started my dog on Nom Nom in 2021 and was mostly happy with the product. We stopped for a while because he seemed to lose interest and restarted in late 2022. We began noticing black potatoes in Oct or Nov. 2022. I thought it may have been some spots like potatoes can get, however when you see it in every package and nearly every potato then it’s more than spots. Also today we noticed the black was on the beef that was touching those potatoes too. No wonder my dog hasn’t been wanting to eat this food! I’ve had to buy even more things to try and entice him to eat this expensive food! I was always picking out the black potatoes and regret not calling the company sooner.

I called them today to complain and then saw some others saying the same thing. Also my dog has had intermittent vomiting and diarrhea that has the vet perplexed. I am very disappointed that I pay for expensive food thinking I’m doing the best for my dog, only to find out that I’m wasting my money. I have canceled my subscription and now have to figure out what to feed him.

Nom Nom is the closest thing to dog food that my dog will eat. She is VERY picky and will often go 2 or 3 days without eating-even the Nom Nom. I have tried all the tips, but the tips are written by people not a persnickety 8 pound Chihuahua with a mind of her own. With all that said Nom Nom is a life saver in that at least she is eating something good and good for her.

I've been subscribing to Nom Nom's home delivery service for dog food since 2020. For the first year or so, it was excellent. Great service, the food always came frozen, on time, and in the correct amounts. My dog loved the food. It was pricy, but worth the expense. Since early last year (2022, around the time Nom Nom sold for $1B to Mars), the quality has progressively deteriorated to the point where we're sadly phasing our dog off of this food.

They have reduced the available portions/packaging sizes and raised prices dramatically. Big bummer, but since we could afford the expense we maintained our subscription. But the problems have been many. The deliveries are no longer frozen when they arrive, which leads me to question the food safety. The meal packaging itself is so terrible that it often has holes (fully open in places, this cannot be food-safe) and/or leaks everywhere when it thaws (both in the package when it's delivered and in the fridge).

The ratios of ingredients are now all over the place, never consistent. There will be packages that are obviously mostly potatoes w/ little meat. The mentions of human-grade food have been scrubbed from their website and it's obvious the meat in the food is lower quality - the chicken is sometimes a gnarly grey color and my dog doesn't even want to eat it, meat is gristly and with tendon/skin, comes in huge chunks that we have to cut so our dog doesn't choke, etc. None of this was ever a problem before.

We've also had repeated issues with not enough food being shipped... way less weight per package than promised on the packaging/order - more than the +/-10g variable promised - and/or not as many packages included in the shipment as we've paid for. We've run out of food multiple times in recent months. So we're getting ripped off, paying the hiked prices for amounts of food we're not even receiving.

It's honestly such a huge bummer because this was an excellent brand and excellent food before and now it's an expensive headache. There are too many competitors with high quality and competitive prices to keep giving Nom Nom the benefit of the doubt after an entire year of deteriorating quality and service. Sad to say all of this, but it's true. :(

Comes packaged to keep food fresh, so if you're not home for delivery, no problem, food will be fine until you arrive. Thanks Nom Nom for supplying the best ingredients.
