Maytag washer warranty: cost, coverage and plans 2025
What can you expect from your appliance’s warranty?
+1 more

All Maytag washers made after 2017 have a 10-year limited warranty on the drive motor and wash basket. They also come with a one-year limited warranty for parts and labor. Some models come with a five-year parts and labor warranty instead of a one-year warranty. The company also offers an extended warranty plan that may offer a little more security.
Maytag washer warranties offer more coverage than most other washer brands. Still, you may find the terms limiting.

Jump to insightMaytag washer warranty coverage and costs
Maytag’s limited warranty covers parts and labor for one year from the original delivery date to repair defects in materials or workmanship, or it may replace the product at its discretion. From years two through ten, Maytag covers the cost of certain factory-specified replacement parts (labor not included) for noncosmetic defects that affect the appliance’s function.
Drive motors and wash baskets are covered.
Maytag offers similar warranty coverage on dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, microwaves, ranges and ovens. Check the details on your particular model by visiting the Maytag warranty page. Your Maytag washer warranty cost is built into your washer’s price. The extended warranty plan, on the other hand, will cost you extra.
Maytag extended washer warranty costs
You can extend the standard warranty with Maytag’s Flexible Application Protection Plans, which are backed by Domestic & General. The Protect Plan covers appliance breakdowns with no out-of-pocket repair costs, using factory-certified technicians and parts, and includes a full replacement if the appliance can't be fixed.

Limits and exclusions
Standard Maytag warranties only cover certain components. Only the stator and rotor are covered on the drive motor, and only the side walls are covered on the wash basket.
Washers with missing model numbers or serial numbers aren’t covered. In addition, the warranty doesn’t cover damage that isn’t from normal wear and tear or cosmetic damage, such as scratches and rust.
The warranty doesn’t cover the repair or replacement of many of the smaller parts or pay for repair pick-up or delivery, either.

Pros and cons of Maytag washer warranties
When compared to other brands, Maytag has a much better warranty system. The 10-year parts warranty is rarely seen with other companies. Here’s a look at the pros and cons so you’ll know what you’re getting into.
Pros
- 10-year parts warranty
- 5-year parts and labor warranty on some models
- At least a one-year part and labor warranty on all models
Cons
- Warranty doesn’t cover pick-up or delivery if needed
- The 10-year parts warranty is limited to the drive motor and washer basket
- Cosmetic damage and smaller parts are not covered
Maytag washer warranty vs. home warranty alternatives
While your limited warranty covers your washer for parts and labor, a home warranty does much more. Home warranties cover many common systems and appliances that are around your home. Plus, a home warranty can protect you when the limited warranty runs out.
The biggest downside of a home warranty is that you’ll need to pay a deductible for each claim. These are usually far cheaper than repair costs, though.
