KitchenAid Refrigerators Reviews

I purchased a KitchenAid 36"french door refrigerator in August 2026. The ice maker has failed, then it leaked, the freezer door gasket separated and now the freezer door has collapsed and food is freezing in the refrigerator section. Have had service through their warranty twice, which is not service at all. No one answers calls at KitchenAid, no one calls back and service calls take more than 3 weeks to schedule. My advice would be to avoid purchasing KitchenAid refrigerators.

Terrible. I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator in 2026 and am awaiting my 2nd service call. Extended warranty is a joke as you can't get service for 2-weeks even when it's not working and 3rd drawer won't close. Skip KitchenAid, they won't even help you escalate an issue and just apologize but do zero to help you.

My new KitchenAid refrigerator was delivered and installed three weeks ago. It required service already due to the freezer frosting up. The freezer was serviced; twelve hours later, it began frosting up again. The KitchenAid replaced my five-year-old LG refrigerator, in which the compressor failed.

The house I bought in 2017 came with a new KitchenAid French-Door Refrigerator. Worst appliance I have ever owned. At 79 and a homeowner for 50 years, that's a lot of appliances. Who designs a unit without an off/on button? Who designs a unit with a drain that freezes easily? My advice: Go to a reputable, privately-owned appliance dealer for your purchase. Ask them about reliability, value, and repair records.

We purchased a 36-inch, counter-depth KitchenAid 4-door refrigerator (over $2,000) about two years ago to replace our old double-door fridge. After just one year, the door gasket flap cracked, and soon it became covered in mold stains. I was baffled — I didn't even know rubber could grow mold. I've owned several refrigerators before, including much cheaper ones, and never experienced anything like this. The gasket material felt cheap, and I suspect KitchenAid is cutting corners on quality these days. I used to trust the brand, but going forward I'll be steering clear of KitchenAid unless they show real commitment to improving quality. To make matters worse, when I looked into ordering a replacement gasket, I found it costs over $200 for just one door. That's a total rip-off. Bottom line: I would not recommend a KitchenAid refrigerator.

I am very upset with Kitchen Aid quality. My refrigerator is only two years old and already about ready to trash. This is unbelievable. The refrigerator started making a noise soon after I purchased it. It was very subtle and I thought it was just a normal type sound. It has gradually gotten louder and more frequent. Of course the warrant is only one year and good thing that I purchased an extended contract for service because I called them in to stop the annoying loud noise. The service guy said that it was the compressor going bad and would soon stop working and that his company would not replace it until it stopped cooling. I told him that it was only two years old and he said that it was considered “OLD”. I was shocked by that. After spending $3000 for a supposedly good quality appliance, it is so discouraging to hear that from him. He suggested that the best ones(according to the service guys) is a Samsung.

The refrigerator appears to be wonderful in many respects. However, when attempting to register my ownership on Kitchen Aid’s website I was given an option to purchase an extended warranty. Knowing the limitations of a one year limited warranty and the fact that appliances are generally not as well made as they once were, i decided to accept the offer of about $6 a month with a discount of 25% for 6 months. When I completed the form, the 25% discount had disappeared. I called Kitchen Aid customer service, and between coping with AI and hold time, it was 10 minutes before I could speak with a representative. She put me on hold while she said she was researching my question.

I moved into my place in 2017, the fridge was purchased in 2012 from the previous owner. I have not had any problems with the fridge, it is now 14 years old, I have never had the fridge serviced for any reason, I am contemplating replacing it due to its age though, I will purchase another KitchenAid product, I am very happy and would recommend. ****

3 year old side by side has failed completely. Tech from store we bought it from said it is not repairable. Figure the wiring has failed inside the box and nothing can be done.

Purchased a higher end KitchenAid refrigerator at Home Depot. I paid over $4,500 in 2021. I purchased a high-end KitchenAid refrigerator in 2021 for over $4,500. Unfortunately, the compressor failed in early 2026, just three months after the sealed system warranty expired. An authorized technician quoted me $2,600 for the repair—nearly 60% of the original purchase price. For a "premium" brand, I expected much better longevity and support. I will be looking at other brands for my future appliance needs.

We purchased a Kitchen Aid (KA) refrigerator ($3500) 5 years ago and have called KA no less then 10 times to try and get this refrigerator fixed for instances. I have NEVER seen an appliance fail like this one...well, wait...yes I have...our Kitchen Aid microwave. But back to the fridge....we are on our 11th call to KA about a failed compressor. Maybe the 11th time will be a charm. Products.

Purchased KitchenAid refrigerator model KRFC704FPS06 serial number KC1902827 a couple of years ago and paid 4k. Stopped cooling/freezing about 10 days and called customer service. After waiting for an hour I was told that someone will be there in six days 8-4 to take a look at it. I took day off that day and waited. In the afternoon I called again and waited again I was told that for some reason their system didn't have me on schedule that day even though that had all my info. I was told their next available day is in 5 days...in short I lost patience and gave up and I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THAT WAS THEIR GOAL for me to give up. It's shame that all my appliances in the house for 10 years are made by kitchen aid, but this refrigerator didn't meet my expectations at all even though it's most expensive one.

Purchased 3 new appliances in 2018 & every one has had significant issues. The fridge being the worst. Several repairs regarding the same issue with a module & drain tube that caused ice to build under the deli drawer, which grows black mold on the ice. Double oven knobs melted during the self clean. Dishwasher died 1st because the internal PLASTIC parts cracked & broke. The fridge continues to ice up & cause problems. Work under warranty never fixed the problem.

The absolute worst refrigerator I have ever owned, the worst. Paid $3,000 and it worked for one month before the water reservoir broke and poured water all over inside the refrigerator and floor. Then trying to get it repaired is a total nightmare!!!! I mean the WORST customer service I have ever known. A simple water reservoir is taking forever to be delivered to the service provider fixing it and they treat you like you are ridiculous for wanting a functioning refrigerator. We are seriously considering litigation, we do not want this poorly made refrigerator.

I bought a built-in KitchenAid refrigerator for over $10, 000 plus $2, 000 custom installation to replace an older KitchenAid that could no longer be repaired. After one year and 6 months, the unit started failing to cool back in November 2025. Called for service, they ordered new computer, came back to install and the unit worked for a few days and back with the same problem.

Bad bad bad. High end $12000 refrigerator..Leak freon after 10 year. Impossible to fix and costly..Costly to repair remove and no warranty…Do not buy …I try multiple time to fix that unit since we moved in this home but it is very costly and there is no warranty provided by any repair company…They ask at least $3000 to fix the unit…I have to find someone to unplug and remove it before I can purchase anything else..Stay away from KitchenAid refrigerator…period.

Dec 9, 2025, we bought a new KitchenAid refrigerator, model #KRFF436SPS french door with ice maker, water dispenser, along with a alarm so if the door was left open it would ding. After having it a couple days, we would notice that the doors were hard to close. And the alarm was so low you could not hear it. I called customer service, they told me that I would need service to come look at it. It would be up to me to pay if they found nothing wrong. Mind you, this is not even 3 weeks old. When I asked about not hearing the door alarm, she said "You can't turn the volume up that had only one setting." So that feature was worthless if you can't hear it. You guessed it, last night the door was ajar and this morning I had a mess and threw out at the least 500.00 worth of food.

We bought a top-of-the-line KitchenAid $3500 refrigerator in 12/2021. It stopped working last week after just 4 years. The whole cooling system went out. The parts are still warranted but, KitchenAid will not pay for the labor. Our best bid for the repair is $1200. I called their customer service people and talked to more than 1 rep and supervisor. I was as disappointed in them as I am in the fridge. I had a problem with a GE appliance a while ago. Their CS dept. was wonderful. We just purchased a new GE fridge. NEVER anything KitchenAid again!

I have a two month old four drawer KitchenAid refrigerator. The water tasted terrible even with the supplied filter in place so I had it tested. It test the exact same as the tapwater coming into my house. I have spent over two hours trying to get a hold of KitchenAid service. After waiting over an hour they had to transfer me to repair I waited another 40 minutes and they had to transfer me to the filter department. After waiting more than 35 minutes on that line I finally gave up. Because of my experience with KitchenAid whirlpool service I will never buy another one of their products. The filters that they sell in manufacturer for these refrigerators do nothing. It’s a joke. Buyer beware.

Over the past 50 years we’ve had several Kitchenaid appliances and been very happy until we purchased a 23 cu ft side by side with water and ice in the door. The ice maker started cutting out and finally quit all together. The repairman came out and saw that the zip tie had cut the wire that runs thru the refrigerator up into door. He said this is a manufacturing flaw and has seen this before. In order to fix this problem for the ice maker you must replace replace the door at a cost of $800.00. I contacted Kitchenaid but they refused to do anything about it or take any responsibility even though it’s a designs flaw. I’m so disappointed in this company and their product and their lack of any attempt to help in this situation of buying a $800.00 door to replace an ice maker!

Purchased a brand new Kitchen Aid Refrigerator model- KRMF706ESS05. It started clicking noise after 15 months and ice maker not working. We called customer service because there was a recall on that model due to frost built up. We stayed on the phone (on hold) for 2 hrs. Then I was instructed to leave number for call back. Six days later, we have received no call back. We will be required to pay for a service call- because of the horrible customer service from Kitchenaid/ Whirlpool.

Purchased a KitchenAid French door counter-depth refrigerator in 10/23. On 11/19/25, the refrigerator stopped working, spoiling all my food the week of Thanksgiving. I had to have a appliance repair company out to check the fridge, which takes a week to get an appointment, so I had to purchase a new refrigerator in the meantime. I was made aware that the sealed compressor unit was not working and to call KitchenAid due to it is covered for up to 5 years for parts and labor. I spent hours and several attempts to contact customer service and being transferred more times than I can count. I will certainly not be purchasing another KitchenAid product since it stops working after 2 years and is a nightmare to try and get a customer service representative on the phone.

It's a great fridge, but their "stainless" steel is covered in rust, after three years. It came new with our house, but I would not buy another one, nor recommend it to anyone, based solely on the poor quality of materials. And that's only the parts I can see.

Our KitchenAid appliances have been solid in performance and our preferred style of appliances. Their Customer Service is HORRIBLE, and we will never be purchasing another one of their products. I had a question about our microwave, and have been on hold for over an hour, both on the phone, and on a "chat".

Really bad experience. After investing $3000+, the ice maker stopped working, and when calling customer service, their main goal was to sell me the extended warranty instead of trying to help fix the problem. Plus, you have to spend over an hr to talk to someone. After forcing me to buy an extended warranty, they still didn't help fix the problem, couldn't schedule the service for me and still suffering to talk to someone. I have been with LG for 10 years without any issues. This is so ridiculous to be suffering like this after spending +3000$ on a refrigerator.

Purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator (french door/multi-drawer) and had it delivered 9/12/2025. Approx. 10/27, the ice maker stopped working. We called for service and slowly watched the freezer completely fail and the fridge slowly warm and spoil food. The earliest the technician could come was 11/10. He was here less than 10 minutes and said there was a leak in the coolant and the compressor failed. We have had to rely on a deep freezer (Used, old, but trusty), beverage fridge and mini fridge along with coolers and ice to preserve what we could. But we lose over $250 in food spoilage.

Don't ever purchase a KitchenAid refrigerator. They may be stylish (I chose mine because I like the handles and the dark grey chrome), but they are the worst to clean! They must have been designed by someone who has never cleaned the interior of a fridge, and the freezer with drawers is even worse. The bottom drawer of the fridge has loads of components that trap crumbs and have to be removed to clean. The freezer drawers need a special gadget (which the repairman happened to have) in order to come out, so cleaning the drawers and freezer interior is super awkward. I would never purchase a KitchenAid again.

Now on our third KitchenAid refrigerator in less than 7 years. Luckily we purchased the extended warranty from Lowe's (1st time) and Home Depot (2nd time). Love the look, but the first refrigerator kept leaking into the middle drawers after about two plus years. Warranty company called it a lemon and gave us our money back for the refrigerator. Since we liked the model, we purchased a second one of the same model (Model # KRMF706ESS) a five drawer style.

The worst. The biggest scammer. The worst quality & most expensive parts that breaks soon. Even new ones just works few months. Whenever my family and my friends bought Kitchanade Appliances works only few months or less. Some parts around $1000 plus $300 labour. Not worth it all.

I purchased a 23.8 counter depth refrigerator in Aug 2020 that cost 4700.00. Sept 2025 it was no longer maintaining its temperature. A service call was performed and we were notified that the compressor no longer worked and the repair would be 1800.00. I called customer service and I was on hold the first time for 2 hours prior to speaking with anyone, then transferred to 3 other departments that could not assist me. I was transferred to the fourth department that had a recording saying it was closed. I called again the next day, again on hold two hours then requested a call back that took another two hours. They stated the only thing they could offer was a 20% coupon on a new appliance that needs to be purchased within thirty days. I just want to say I am so disappointed in KitchenAid. I have believed in your products as my entire kitchen had KitchenAid appliances.

Zero stars should be an option. We purchased a KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator in July 2024 that was delivered Aug 1, 2024. For the first few months everything seemed fine. Then we noticed that the temperature was rising on the refrigerator side, frost was building up and the bottom drawer was frozen shut. We manually defrosted it, and that seemed to help, temperature returned to normal for a few months. Then the cycle repeated. In July 2025 we filed a claim through the 1-year KitchenAid warranty, noting that the auto-defrost was obviously faulty. They scheduled a repair - which was 2 weeks out. The repair tech came and did another manual defrost and declared it good to go.

I have to give this piece of junk a star but zero stars better describes it. Purchased in October 2023 and had issues.. The ice maker was just replaced and now it is leaking water inside the fridge. A complete piece of junk. KRMF706ESS0

KRMF706ESS01 - 36" Multi-Door Refrigerator 25.8 cu. ft Stainless Steel. We have had this product since 2019 and as I write this review it is on its last legs dying a slow death. We are anxiously hoping that it hangs in there until our new Bosch is delivered. Since the beginning, we have had problems with lights, cooling and the ice maker. We have replaced the ice dispenser auger motor twice. The last time a tech came out to repair the ice maker his fix after two hours of work was "I can replace the door with the water dispenser and ice bin for approximately $1,000 but I cannot guarantee that it will fix the problem." While it still made ice the door dispenser was dead. Finally it stopped making ice and it was time to replace the without spending another nickel. In fact there is a class lawsuit on just these problems - **. Physically, it is a great product. It is too bad that it does not function properly.

I have a Kitchenaid refrigerator model KRMF706ESS01, 36 Inch, 5-Door, French Door and it is a piece of junk. It is 4 years old. All of the following repairs were after the warranty expired. First some of the lights went out. A number of these lights are in series, like the old Christmas tree lights. So, you have to go from light-to-light to find out which one is bad. I had a repairman put in a new light. A few months later the lights went out again. I bought an LED bulb and found the bad light, replaced it and they worked again. A couple of months later they went out again. I couldn’t find the bad light, so I just gave up. Then the temperature control for the vegetable/meat drawer went out.

Do NOT buy a KitchenAid product. You will regret it. I spent $3,900 on a KitchenAid refrigerator in April 2024. I’m three months out of warranty and received a $803 bill to repair it. I came home to a puddle of water on the floor. The ice had melted and the fridge had stopped cooling. If you want anything covered, you have to use their service which takes a week to get someone out there. Thinking surely with it being three month out of warranty, they would cover something or some parts would be covered for more than a year. Not so.

Our KitchenAid fridge often stopped working. We finally figured out (on our own) that when the ice maker was full and the sensor kicked in to stop production, the whole unit shut off. The solution was to shut off the ice maker manually before it filled up. Honestly, no more outages so far.

Updated on 11/06/2025: We paid $150 to a certified KitchenAid technician to come and look at it. He said to try changing the supply hose to a PVC style and to put a specific filter in. We did both of those things in the black flakes continued. He said your only other option was to change the whole door on the refrigerator. I presented this to KitchenAid because the refrigerator was only 2 and 1/2 years old when this started and they basically said, "We can't help you." I have 51 rental units and there will never be any appliances in there from Whirlpool KitchenAid or Maytag because they're owned by the same company and I've put the word out to 80 landlords that I have in a text message group.

As a mom, wife, and caregiver of a parent who lives with us, I rely heavily on my kitchen appliances to keep our household running—especially our refrigerator. So imagine my massive disappointment (to put it gently) when our brand new $3,000 KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator (KRFC704FPS) stopped working just six weeks after installation. That’s when the real nightmare began. It took one week for KitchenAid (Whirlpool) to send out an authorized technician—just to confirm it was broken. Then we waited another week for parts, which, we were told, weren’t even available in the U.S. at the time and needed to be ordered. They could not be overnighted because they weren't even in the U.S.

If I could leave -stars I would. Kitchenaid refrigerator model Item #: 247028|Model #: 98517. Standard-Depth 27-cu ft 3 -Door French Door Refrigerator with Ice Maker with Water and Ice Dispenser, stainless. Ordered in May from Lowe’s has never worked correctly and still to this day in August we have no working refrigerator, no refund, no approved return or a repair of our fridge. Lowe’s says it’s a kitchenaid manufacturer issue and kitchenaid says they need to keep sending service companies repeatedly to fix the issue instead of authorizing a replacement or return. Getting a kitchenaid representative on the phone is virtually impossible. We bought a 3 year warranty and paid $3,500. and have not had a fridge for months.

I purchased a refrigerator, model KRFF577KPS02, delivered on 7/5/24. On 6/16/25, I returned from vacation to a puddle on the floor where the ice had melted and the refrigerator wasn’t working. I called the following morning and was told they would send someone out the following week. When I questioned why it would be so long, I was curtly told to call the repair company myself. When I did, they came out the next day. The technician said he was surprised that it had lasted as long as it had because the compressor on this model was known to fail. He ordered a new one and said it would take two weeks for the part to come in.
