I spent $999 plus tax to buy a Danby refrigerator from Walmart for rental house. After 2.5 years the plastic tray on the door broke and I could not order a replacement part from Danby or anywhere else online! This is really upsetting. Danby continues to build the 24” wide compact frig but their tray designs are not common between models. This is really not economical and definitely not consumer friendly! The compact frig is already space limited, missing a tray is a big deal. I write this review to alert other consumers, Danby refrigerator may look very handsome but no replacement parts can be found if broken. I will not buy another product from Danby again.

Purchased a Danby refrigerator 10 years ago. We purchased a model that was refrigeration only. No freezer. I was replacing with a large whirlpool that had freezer drawer on bottom, but for some reason would pool water on floor sometimes. I did not want to ruin my flooring. So I replaced the Whirlpool with a Danby. We chose Danby strictly because of price (less than 500.00) and the fact it was refrigerator only, no freezer. We bought it online, so we really had no idea what we were really getting. We had never heard of Danby, prior to this purchase. You get what you pay for and we assumed Danby was some cheap brand and would do the job until we could save up enough money to replace with a Whirlpool or Maytag.

The Danby just started having issues with the cooling. It went up to 50 degrees for a couple days, now it's holding good at 35 again. I cleaned out the dust and stuff, just in case it didn't have enough airflow (conveniently placed in bottom front, not back of fridge). We did not want to ruin and replace a lot of food. Yesterday, we bought a Maytag (reputable brand) with freezer on top.

Here is how the Danby and Maytag compare. Danby had all around cooling which was nice. And wpas super quiet. This maytag does not have surround cooling and is not as quiet as the Danby. Maytags doors are light, with light seal. Danby's door is heavy duty with suction sealing. Maytag has a huge freezer (top), 1/3 of unit. Leaving the fridge on bottom 2/3rds. It is hard to see what is on top shelf. And you have to bend really low. Danby had more refrigeration space because it was fridge only. I loved that, as I have 2 chest freezers in shop and an upright freezer in my house.

Maytag's condiment holders are built in with metal bars that are really low and things will topple out. Danby's are heavy plastic, perfect height to hold tall bottles and smaller ones drop down in, so they don't drop out, they are also adjustable. Maytag's glass shelves seem flimsy and thin and have no trim. Can only move about an inch and a half, if. So milk and other stuff doesn't fit well. Also feels like shelves will break. Would fit best on top shelf, and the glass is so flimsy that I would not trust putting it on shelf above produce drawers. If someone aggressively put milk in fridge, the shelf might break. The glass vibrates, even when something is carefully placed.

Danby's glass shelves are thick and they are set in with trim for extra durability and no chipped glass edges. Totally adjustable, many slots to choose from for height differences. Bottom shelf above drawers is the same as other shelves, thick and reinforced. Has been abused and shows no wear. Drawers: Maytags are thin plastic and sloppy. Thin moisture adjustment slide, but doesn't matter anyways because there are large gaps above the sides and back of drawers.

Danby's drawers are thick plastic, seat well, and are like their own compartment, will fit more produce than Maytags. And the plastic surrounding drawers and moisture slide is heavy duty. To our surprise and horror Danby's quality is way better than Maytags. I am stuck with Maytag. All in all, Danby rates 10 out of 5 and Maytag is a 1 out of 5. Honest review. Please do not mind the dirty fridge pics. I was out of state for extended amount of time and no one else cleans the fridge. It is also just hanging out, because the new fridge is where the fridge belongs.

DO NOT BUY! The electric range had concealed damage inside the carton, which they won't repair or replace. They will only offer to extend the warranty by two months (which they offer to everyone anyway). I was told that a replacement side panel is not available. Then, the stove top cracked within the first month, so I called Danby to order a replacement (because I'm sure it's not warranted) and I am only told that a replacement top is not available. No time frame or other solution was provided. Terrible product and terrible customer service after the sale!

I received a Danby Beverage fridge as a christmas gift and found that after the 12 month warranty expired the compressor has failed and was quoted more to fix it than what the cost to replace the fridge. After contacting Danby they basically only offered me a $50 rebate if I purchased a new Beverage fridge with an 6 month extended warranty which I find as a insult. I can't believe that for one the product failed in such short time and second they are not willing to stand behind their product that cost $500.00 and didn't last 2 years.

I have a Danby refrigerator that has a faulty seal and allowed moisture to get into the motherboard and destroy it. I paid $100 to have a technician visit to service the unit, only to be advised that the part is no longer available. I called every company possible and the part # is discontinued. So I had to take a perfectly good refrigerator and send it to the landfill because of faulty manufacturing. Why are governments not taking these big companies to task and allowing them to defraud consumers constantly??? Danby knew this problem existed and just discontinued making a simple part that would correct the problem. Instead they encourage consumers to buy a new refrigerator. Stop the rhetoric about the concern for our environment and pass laws that will stop these companies from making junk and getting it to market.

Called on March 21st about freezer not working. Danby had me arrange for repair which came in 2 days. It was decided that I would need a new fridge that was covered under warranty. I have roughly 15 emails pleading with this company to send new fridge. 2 weeks ago they wanted the tenant to cut the cord on the fridge and send pictures otherwise it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. I explained that the tenant would not do that until she received her new fridge as it was only the freezer which was broken. She said they would make an exception. 6 days ago the fridge conked out as well so another 5 or more emails urging them to deliver the fridge.

I called 4 days ago and was advised that the fridge would come that day (no warning). I reached the tenant to advise she stayed home all day as did I and no fridge showed up. I called the next day and was told the delivery man called the tenant but she didn’t answer. I asked what number they called and it was the wrong number! I gave her the correct phone number again. I have an email that I had sent Danby with not only the tenant's phone number but mine as well. Still no fridge delivered so I called back and she advised that they would be calling the tenant so on a lark I asked her what number she had and again it was the wrong number!

I called on Wednesday morning and asked Transport when the fridge would be coming she states that it had to be arranged through Danby! The woman I had been dealing with had told me all delivery questions were handled through transport company. Then to top it all off they don’t bring the fridge inside (even into the lobby). The driver wanted $25 to take it off the lift!!!! I asked Transport to deliver it to tenant and was advised this had to be arranged through Danby. Called Danby they said it was up to Transport. I will NEVER again do any business with Danby and I strongly recommend that you don’t either. If there was an option for no stars that’s what I would have picked. I had requested a manager or supervisor call me and did not receive a call.

The one shop on the list that actually repaired washing machines refused to come because of the distance. Next Danby expected me to do their work to find and contact a local shop to do the repair with the promise Danby would pay them. Horse**. I'm still sitting here with a broken washer. I don't have the money to buy a new one and they won't honor their warranty. So, instead I pick and choose what to bring to a laundromat half an hour away each week. Don't buy. I work for a prison medical facility and we ordered three of the Danby Compact Refrigerator Model# DH016A1W. The control panel on one of the refrigerators did not allow me to change any of the information, (date, time, Celsius to Fahrenheit). I followed the directions exactly, nothing was changing. I called the Danby customer service line and all they did was read the instructions to me, the instructions that I had already followed. She then asked me to unplug it and plug it back in, which I had already done before she said anything, it still did not work. She said she would pass this on to another rep.

So I was contacted via email from another rep and all he did was send me the directions that I already had. I replied to his email saying that I had already followed all of the directions but it is still not working, this is what I got back from him: "Sometimes instructions can be confusing. In order to proceed to the program menu just follow this procedure. Press and hold the Set button and the down arrow button at the same time for 5 seconds to enter the programming menu. Note that if no buttons are pressed within 10 seconds, the control panel will close the selection menu. Sincerely, Jake."

Really? I found this email very insulting and I wrote him and email stating this fact and that I was able to set up the other two refrigerators without any problem and that this one fridge is obviously not working and this is his reply: "I am sorry if I made you feel this way. Please try to hard reset this unit by unplugging from the power source for 5-10 minutes then plug it back in. Try setting up once more the date and time. If still not working, send us a copy of your proof of purchase so we can look at your options. Sincerely, Jake."

That is one of the first things I tried, at this point I have given up on trying to work with Jake. This customer service is no help at all and it has taken me a whole day just to get to this point. Jake could not even pick up a phone and call knowing that I was getting frustrated. The other two refrigerators are working fine so far, although one has dents and scratches and one is missing a screw for the door handle. If we were not so desperate for these refrigerators I would send them all back for a refund. I have contacted the company that I purchased these from and told her the trouble I have been having with Danby and she said she will get this handled.

Now to be fair the warranty is for 18-months but a good product should last more than 2-years. I was replacing a fridge that was over 23-years old and still running but needed a new door seal and other cosmetics so figured I would replace.

AS I said started to act up end of Sept. A loud humming sound getting louder & louder, and I called the furniture store and they told me name of repairman. I called him in and he checked it over and said, "Sounds like compressor is going, replacement would be $750.00 minimum OR we could try recharging and it might last another 2-years". I had it recharged and it worked fine for about 2.5 days and started to hum again getting louder and louder.

Recently a new problem popped up: fridge temperature is not regulated. A temperature control dial is useless. I attempted to lower temperature from 50 Fahrenheit to 40 and rotated the dial. Usually it is in horizontal position. I made two attempts. First time I rotated the dial clockwise about 30 degrees. Temperature has not changed after 10 hours.

Second time I rotated the dial clockwise until it stopped. Twelve hours later temperature has not changed much – it is 48 degrees. I contacted the manufacturer again. They are willing to send a replacement with one year warranty. Prior to it the manufacturer requests taking pictures of rear wall with and without sticker. Third picture should show that I cut a power cord in two. The old fridge won’t be removed. It is my job. Cracked right on a joint where condiment shelf meets the inside of the door. NO help in getting this matter resolved. Their suggestion was to fix it with food grade silicone. Because damage was only covered 30 days after purchase. This was not damage I did. This is a default in their product. Danby is the WORST!! Do not waste your money. Buyer Beware.

I've had this refrigerator less than 3 months when it started to have problems. On the warmest setting the fridge was freezing my food, the door is squeaking like a haunted house, and some of the trim on the shelves is coming off. When I contacted Danby the best they would do is send a repairman, and it took 2 weeks to get an appointment. If it's already having problems I don't even want the item. Never would buy any appliance from this brand or the vendor who sold it to me Appliance Connection because they didn't provide any support.

Have not had any major issues with this brand or product since purchase. Consistent and keeps food fresh and cool. Quick cooling and well insulated. Would purchase again in the future and will continue using this brand should our current fridge need a replacement as well as with other appliances. I would recommend strongly. Classic look and is very clean cut. It is simple but not boring. Style is that which one does not get tired of. Design is timeless and dynamic. Not too big and not too small. It is just right. Does not take up too much space and is not overwhelming in its presence. I can rely on this machine to function up until a replacement is wanted. Never have to worry that it will malfunction. Has lasted for years and still runs just as it did when it first was installed.

Danby offers great performance with their appliances much like the one that I purchased, my refrigerator, not too long ago. They offer high-performance machines and equipment for their customers. Also, they look for what the customer is looking for as well. I'd highly recommend Danby appliances if you are looking for a certain appearance for your refrigerator because the appearances fit well with any other appliances in the kitchen. The size is great for the refrigerator, and it fits nicely alongside other appliances. The overall value of Danby appliances is fantastic because they have high-quality machines that are durable and reliable for customers.

I absolutely love my refrigerator. We have always wanted a small one for our bedroom and this is definitely the perfect one! It works exceptionally well. I was concerned while shopping that the freezer part might make the cold items freeze but that is definitely not the case. The freezer keeps items frozen while the refrigerator keeps items cold but not frozen. I would truly recommend this brand to anyone and everyone! We choose the stainless steel model. It has plenty of spacing and capacity. While it is an one room refrigerator it is definitely large enough to hold those drinks and several other items. This is an one room refrigerator and small yet not too small. To me, it is the perfect size. We purchased our one room Danby fridge at Target. The value was exceptional. We only paid $180 plus tax. While this may seem a little expensive to some for an one room fridge you have to understand that you truly do get what you pay for.

This fridge worked great. It kept everything fresh and cool. The freezer was super cold and kept all the items frozen. I would definitely say that this was one of the better performing fridges. The appearance of the fridge was sleek and very nice. I like how it went along with the kitchen decor and just really looked nice in the my home. There was enough space in the fridge for all my weekly groceries to fit perfectly and have extra space. The value of the fridge was phenomenal. I was able to get a great deal when I purchased it. It was cheaper than I thought it would be. Really great value for your money.
