Bought a French door style refrigerator from Home Depot end of March. It wasn’t making ice but the owner manual said it could take a couple days and the refrigerator felt like it was getting cold enough. Four days later it stopped cooling at all and I lost all of my food. Home Depot said I had to deal with Kitchenaid directly as it still falls under the manufacturer warranty even though I bought the extended warranty.
Had a repairman out first week in April. Had to wait on a part and he was back out April 22 to replace the compressor. After the repair it finally made ice for the first time and I was so excited to finally have my brand new refrigerator working! Fast forward 3 weeks to this morning when I woke up to water all over my new hardwood floors because the refrigerator stopped cooling again and the ice had melted. Been on hold now for 40 minutes trying to figure out how to get this lemon replaced. After 55 minutes on the phone the repairman will have to come back out.

I purchased the KitchenAid KRMF706ESS05 on 8/17/2023, for $3718.77 at Warners' Stellian in Ankeny, La. I called (not sure of date) KitchenAid for a leaking ice maker. KitchenAid schedule service on 10/26/2023. The Service guy Kevin came out; he checked the water flow, and it was under 2 oz, he adjusted and leveled refrigerator to tip back further. Call (not sure of date) KitchenAid for service again and service was scheduled on 11/06/2023. Service guy Kevin replaced water valve, tested flow under 2 oz fill, tipped front of refrigerator back more, 3 turns on the front legs. On 11/8/2023 order states that they were going to order an ice box. Kevin came out on 11/10/2023, order says to test RO system pressure. Kevin could not do that, so I had to call Culligan (I have a reverse osmosis water softener) and have them check it, which checked ok.
On 12/11/23 Kevin returned to change the ice box and ice maker. That seemed to help....until today 4/30/2025. Now out of warranty. I called KitchenAid and there is nothing they can do for me. I have had this refrigerator for 1 year, and 8 months. The images below are from today. Although I took pictures from 10/23 and 11/23, I didn't save them. I think it is wrong for KitchenAid not to fix this for me since the issue started within 90 days of the purchase. The refrigerator should have been replaced back in Nov. of 2023.

Do not go with Kitchen Aid. Unreliable, atrocious customer service (1.5 hours on phone, hung up on and passed to over 5 people) and terrible backing by the manufacturer. We bought a brand new KRMF706EBS French door refrigerator for around 3K along with a stove and dishwasher. It lasted one month beyond 5yrs. (except for a repair of the ice maker) before completely failing. The failure started in the deli drawer control panel and eventually completely shut down after only 5yrs., one month after the extended warranty expired. Our previous fridge lasted almost 30yrs. The last five outside in carport while we were building. Based on AI search, that control panel is a common failure point, but after a 1.5 hour phone effort with KitchenAid/Whirlpool was told no, there are no issues with this model and we were out of luck; no assistance with any parts unless it is the 10yr.
Parts such as compressor, not computer parts. Basically parts that will last 10 yrs. Based on the issues we have already had with the stove and dishwasher, I expect those parts to fail at 10yrs. and a day. I can't wait to see the repair bill, but won't know that for over a month until it assessed and parts ordered, return and repair; until then no fridge. Hope this helps.

I’ve purchased the KitchenAid 36 French Door in October 2023, it started presenting issues with the ice maker around April 2024, I’ve contacted the customer service, had 5 different technicians in my house and the problem still not solved a year later. The customer service is horrible as well as the technicians, they tried to charge me for the last visit saying that the fridge was not within the warranty. This has been the worst purchase I’ve done in my life. Never buy a kitchenaid fridge. Horrible and garbage.

These refrigerators are unreliable and not worth the higher cost. Have had extreme temperature fluctuations and non working ice maker. KitchenAid replaced main control board and still not functioning. Now they say they need to place a data monitor on the refrigerator to monitor the cooling when the freezer is not cooling. What are they monitoring? Will not consider replacing this lemon unless a tech decides it not repairable. They also say that after a power outage the refrigerator has to be manually reset. What if you are not home? Reps at KitchenAid are not helpful at all and the product lacks quality. Also had control board replaced on recently purchased oven.

All my frozen foods went too bad. I called home depot and they turned me to manufacture. Purchased a French style KitchenAid refrigerator in 2019 and it's only six years old and have had many service calls on it. Started having issues with our icemaker so paid for a service call and was told by Whirlpool tech support that a new fan was needed. New fan was installed and it did not fix the issue. Repairman contacted Whirlpool tech support again, and this time was told that the fridge is nonrepairable. I called Whirlpool customer care thinking I was going to get a replacement and was told the best they could do was give me a 20% discount on a new one. No more Kitchenaid appliances ever again and do not recommend anyone purchasing one.

I bought a French door refrigerator a double oven stove and microwave. All are junk. Spent over 7000 dollars on these 3 appliances. The microwave only works some of the time. The main burner on the stove stopped working about 2 years after I purchased it. The evaporator fan motor went bad in the refrigerator just a little after the first year. Had it fixed. Purchased ALL new KitchenAid appliances 7 years ago. Since then, we have had to have repair to cook top. Several days ago the refrigerator died! Repairman (at cost of $125) told us it would cost more to repair than to replace. He also said refrigerators (not sure about other appliances) built during this era were notorious for failure. After 2 1/2 hrs, and 5-6 different people at Kitchen Aid customer service I was essentially told there was nothing they would do. This was not a cheap refrigerator. All Kitchen Aid ads say a refrigerator should last a minimum of 10 years and likely 14-17 years. I will never purchase another Kitchen Aid appliance and recommend no one else do so.

The KRMF 706ESS product, a beautiful 5 door refrigerator has a design flaw that causes a high dollar repairs. My second one has now failed after just 4 years, the first was replaced free of charge by Whirlpool Kitchen Aid due to a long string of repairs during the first 2 years of ownership. The left drawer has a control panel that somehow fills with water, corrodes the wires and board and requires a new door for $700. That’s ~25% the cost of a new refrigerator. Although this is an attractive design, it’s not a robust design. The other French door fridge I bought at the same time, a kitchen aid model, continues to work with no problems.

Really this deserves zero or negative stars. We acquired a KitchenAid refrigerator from Best Buy at the end of July 2023. We spent almost $4,000. As of 2/1/25 this unit had been down twice for a total of 45 days or an astounding 8% of the time we owned it. It went out again on 2/2/25 and based on history we expect it will be down for another 20+ days bring the total down time to almost 12% of the time we have owned the appliance. Considering that it is reasonable to expect zero down time, this is absurd. Whirlpool does not care. KitchenAid does not care. Best Buy does not care. My conclusion is that no one should purchase anything from Whirlpool/KitchenAid.

I purchased a brand-new KitchenAid refrigerator from Lowe’s two weeks ago, and it has been nothing but a nightmare. The issue? The tape residue left behind by the blue tape they use to secure shelves and other parts during shipping. I’ve tried everything—hot water, Goo Gone, you name it—but the sticky residue simply won’t come off. It’s all over the shelves and other areas, making it gross and unpleasant to use. To make matters worse, both Lowe’s and KitchenAid are brushing this off as a “cosmetic issue” and refusing to exchange the unit or do anything about it.
This isn’t some minor annoyance; it’s a brand-new refrigerator, and it shouldn’t have this kind of issue out of the box. How can you call it “cosmetic” when the surfaces are sticky to the touch and impossible to clean? The fact that KitchenAid and Lowe’s won’t stand behind their product is shocking. I expected better from a premium brand like KitchenAid. I spent good money on this appliance, and now I’m stuck with a refrigerator that feels used and dirty from the start. Absolutely unacceptable. Buyers beware!

I am very disappointed in the service we have received from Kitchenaid/Whirlpool. I will be posting reviews of the service on google, Facebook and anywhere else I can to recommend to other possible customers not to purchase Kitchenaid/Whirlpool products due to the poor service after purchase. Our refrigerator is one year old and is no longer functioning. We have had a repairman scheduled to replace parts at our home 8 times (11/14,11/18,11/22,11/30,12/9,12/16,1/3, and today, 1/13) and have had multiple parts replaced. We have been without a working refrigerator in our kitchen since 11/7/2024 and it is now 1/13/2025.
The repairman was supposed to replace yet another part today, but whirlpool sent the wrong part and it will take an additional 3-4 weeks to get the part. We thought purchasing a Kitchenaid refrigerator at a higher price and a reputable brand name would improve the customer service, but it has not. The best the gentleman on the phone could report was that there were no supervisors to speak to over the phone and that they would try to order the part again and get it as quick as possible. It is very disappointing that the company refuses to replace the refrigerator at this point and are requiring more parts to be replaced-even when the parts cannot be obtained.

Dec 17, 2024. We purchased a Kitchenaid counter depth French door refrigerator for our kitchen renovation, model #KRFC704FPS. It was ordered on 11/11/21 and delivered/installed on 12/13/22, a full 13 months later. The complaint...one month short of 2 years the compressor went out and we lost a ton of frozen foods and everything inside the fridge before we realized what was happening.
To note, we have two other refrigerators in our garage, one is a 27 yo Amana and the other is a 20 yo Kenmore. Neither have ever had a service call or any maintenance done to them, and they work perfectly fine in both the refrigerator and freezer areas. They saved us and we hope they never break...such fine workmanship in the old days.
On 11/19/24, I contacted Ken's Appliance, a suggested authorized appliance repair company in my area. They have been great, much better than the KA appliance I purchased. Three weeks later, on 12/11/24 the part was in and my technician installed it. Later that evening we started hearing noises, which had never happened prior to the original part going out. I reported this to the appliance repair company on 12/13/24 and today, 12/17/24, the tech was able to stop in to diagnose. The replaced compressor is running extremely hot and is going out; he is ordering another one. As we approach Christmas in one week. After reading all of the horrific reviews on this site and others, I don't know why I ordered this KA package. I have the commercial-style range, wall ovens and warmer. The reviews on this site don't give me much hope for a remedy, but I'll be calling their customer retention/service line today if I can find it.

My review is for model #KRFF577KPS02. The refrigerator was installed on 9/2023 and is developing rust around the water maker. I contacted Whirlpool support and they sent Paradise Appliance to come out as part of their partnership with Whirlpool. I was charged $149 for them to tell me nothing is wrong and that it is cosmetic. What is amazing is the tech told me that this is a flaw and the water drips into tray and then is seeping inside through the screws. He said from his inspection that the door is probably rusting on the inside and this has been going on for a while. But in his report he states no issues and cosmetic.
Unfortunately Whirlpool doesn't cover cosmetic and they only offer a one year warranty on everything except the compressor which is 5 yrs. They told me even if I had the extended warranty it wouldn't be covered. How can you not stand behind a obvious defect. So they think that rusting is normal and you should except that as part of their craftsmanship. What a joke. So much for American made.

I received a KitchenAid refrigerator with preexisting issues -- a Freon leak which caused the compressor to die as well. I have owned it for about 5 weeks. Didn't realize it had been delivered to me broken for about a week, since I was not living at home. When I did report the issue within the first week of ownership, I was informed that since more than two days had elapsed since delivery, I would have to go through the manufacturer's warranty, which covers only parts and service. KitchenAid contracts with an awful vendor in my area, and the repairs were attempted after three weeks of waiting for the parts to come in.
The tech seemed to have no real desire to fix the unit and told me compressors just blow out, one after another. Needless to say, he did not fix the refrigerator. Another week later, a new tech from what is hopefully a better vendor, said there is some sealed system restriction which has caused the new compressor to fail. They are ordering another compressor and I am waiting to have a working refrigerator.
That the unit was delivered to me damaged and has never worked moves Lowe's and KitchenAid not even remotely. I can just about feel them sending loser vibes at me as I relate these issues over the phone. Truly there is nobody standing behind these machines. And living without a refrigerator is a financial hardship, so I don't really understand the attitude of -- we must let the tech repair it no matter that it takes weeks or months. I'm angry with KitchenAid, and irate with Lowe's, both of them just pointing at each other and saying no way can anybody just take responsibility and give me my money back. No integrity, either organization. I have 5 appliances that I've bought from Lowe's over the last 8 years. This KitchenAid refrigerator is the last one.

The refrigerator continued to leak and I am no longer able to open my freezer. My kitchen floor and subfloor are ruined. Kitchenaid will not remove or replace this refrigerator. They claim they only service them.
A service man came again today after a three weeks of canceling on me. He couldn't open the freezer either and was told by Kitchenaid that I need to unplug this refrigerator for a week and the freezer will defrost and open. I have quite a bit of food in my refrigerator and freezer that will spoil if I pull the plug for a week. They said that's all can offer. I have been on the phone over and over with no satisfaction with Kitchaid with no results. I will never purchase a Kitchenaid or Whirlpool product again. This is by far the worst customer service company that I have ever done business with. My only option now is to obtain a lawyer and sue.

Our upgraded KitchenAid french door refrigerator required warranty service at 20 months of age. An Appliance Pros+ service representative determined the refrigerator required a new compressor, meanwhile the contents of the refrigerator/freezer had to be thrown out at great expense. No replacement compressors were available in Canada. I phoned Appliance Pro+ and was informed their policy is to spend 14 days sourcing out a replacement compressor. Currently 4 weeks have passed with no phone call to us, from the Appliance Pro+ service representative, regarding availability of a replacement compressor.
KitchenAid and Appliance Pro+ do not care what hardship is put on the customer, in other words KitchenAid/Appliance Pro+ followup service is poor. We were never offered at no charge replacement refrigerator. Our family will never buy another KitchenAid product. In desperation and great expense, we purchased a new replacement refrigerator which is not a KitchenAid/Whirlpool product.

We "upgraded" our with 100% KitchenAid. By far the biggest remodeling mistake we ever made. We purchased new, Induction cooktop, Hood vent, Microwave, Oven, Convection oven/Microwave, and Fridge. Dropped over $10K on what was to be fantastic appliances. We have had to call out for service on EVER SINGLE ITEM. The fridge, microwave and over multiple times. Not one appliance lasted more than couple of years before needing expensive repairs. The Induction cooktop was incorrectly wired at the factory. I called and talked to the KitchenAid rep about the factory defect. They politely told me to piss off and that there is nothing they would do. Then they mailed me a 15% off coupon. So for us, it's a horrible product with horrible service. Never again will we buy Kitchenaid.

The 3rd party service people, the warranty/customer service people, and KitchenAid Corporate office continually passes the buck and no one will take care issuing a "Return Request" so that Lowes can come and pick up this fridge so we can be refunded for this huge mistake. We have a French door built-in refrigerator. We have had problems with the doors from day one. Had a service tech out in the first week. No one mentioned that the doors are manual. What I mean by “manual “ is that you have to physically close the doors. Like back on the ‘50’s. So I called again about a year later and mentioned that I had to physically close the doors. Response ”there’s nothing we can do“. Also, the lights are all connected in one circuit so when one goes, they all go. When the tech came out about the light, he had no idea how to address the door essentially telling us there was nothing he could do. So over the next 2 years, I can’t tell you how many times I did not close it all the way.
Fast forward to today. The doors WILL NOT STAY SHUT!!! No matter what you do. The $150 service call yielded nothing. Pay hundreds of dollars to replace the hinges. That might not even be the problem. If that doesn’t fix it, THOUSANDS FOR NEW DOORS. I called Kitchen Aid and I asked him if it made any sense that I should have to physically close the doors (now they won’t even stay closed). He replied that in the beginning, the doors would spring open and shut and customers complained. So, THEY DESIGNED THEM THIS WAY ON PURPOSE!! I did confirm that the next option would be to replace the hinges and if that didn’t work then replace the doors. Not at all what I imagined for a 10k+ refrigerator.

There was a time when KitchenAid was a brand known for quality, which is what we remembered when we bought this refrigerator. My first indication that all was not what it seemed was when I unpacked the shelves and saw that they were marked with the names of 3 other brands (brands not known for high quality). Clearly upon buying the company the first order of business was to replace any KitchenAid specific components (so, high quality components) with whatever the other brands had (aka crap).
As a result the shelves don't reach the back of the unit, and anything back there falls through to the shelf below it. On the plus side, designers lowered the product cost and got a big bonus! That's pretty much the story of KitchenAid. The ice maker fails an average of twice a day. Everything you read in the abysmal reviews here is accurate. A brand known for quality gets bought out and the spreadsheet pushers then nickel and dime the quality right out of it, correctly assuming consumers won't catch on until it's too late. We've had this 2 years now and if I owned a shotgun I would take it outside and blow holes in it, that's about the only use I can think of for it. Clearly the annual goals and objectives for anyone involved in the design of this junk begins and ends with "lower product cost". Just be aware, the KitchenAid of yesterday is gone; all that's left is the badge.

A 4000.00 dollar Refrigerator that shuts off whenever after owning it for 14 months and a stove that gets so hot it worries me that my house may catch on fire. The KitchenAid website has a lower review on this product as well when I spoke to a management representative. I was read the Declaration of the whirlpool Corporation which was from the CEO and down. Kitchenaid used to be a great company but the quality has slipped. We won't buy again.

Purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator KRMF706ESS in Jan-23. Upon unpacking, I discovered the bottom freezer door was not secured to the rails and only held in place with packing tape. The right door hinge is defective, allowing the door to shift vertically and causes misalignment. The inside right door top mount for the shelf is defective. The shelf bracket does not fit properly on the mount and scratches the plastic on the inside back of the door. All these issues clearly indicate that KitchenAid has a poor quality management program.

I currently have a Kitchenaid refrigerator model 704FOS05 for less than 30 days. It has not held a temperature below 47 degrees since received when set for 33 degrees. This was part of an exchange for one that couldn’t cool either and was sent back within first 30 days. There have actually been 4 refrigerators involved in exchange due to multiple cooling failures and repair failures. From January 2022 to October 2022 I was completely without refrigeration due to a back order of unit. Kitchenaid refuses to give me a refund. They insists on repair tech trying to fix a brand new unit.
My frustration with this entire lack of having a refrigerator that will perform the basic operation of cooling has reached a boiling point. This is a $4500 piece of junk that has a functional failure that I have been stuck with. I recommend that nobody should consider buying a Kitchenaid/Whirlpool product directly from a company that puts out such a poor quality product and won’t make it right. If you do then beware they try to force you in to repair under warranty immediately after delivery. If there was a zero star rating then it would be just that. This has a miserable nightmare for my family with no end in sight.

Bought a Kitchenaid set of Fridge, dishwasher, stove and microwave. They look beautiful but buyer beware. We required a new dishwasher after 2 years and now after 3 years our fridge is leaking water and temperature is varying from 27 degrees to 52 degrees. Tons of food lost because of this. Was happening from the start but we just raised the temp to 40 degrees and kept the fridge not real full. Used our old garage fridge to help out.
After the 3 year warranty ended we noticed frozen water had formed under the deli tray when water slowly started leaking out. Called KitchenAid and they said had to send out KA specialist. So we did. He said drain tube clogged. Had to defrost a ton, clear tube out and inspected tube. He found nothing that clogged it but said it could have been a very small piece of lent. That this happens. 4-5 months later exact same problem returns. He comes back out and breaks up ice and says he can't see anything clogging the tube so says it must be a different problem. He said hopefully just clearing this out will solve the problem, but did say this seems to be a different issue. I was not in agreement with this because the way the ice formed and water came back was the exact way it had previously.
After 2 days and problem returned he said he would investigate to see if there are any known problems. He called back and said Whirlpool said to change out water house and all the tubes. That there must be a water leak. He checked for a water leak when he had just been at my house and found no leaks and he thoroughly tested for leaks with my help. To change out everything Whirlpool/KitchenAid recommended would have cost $545 and this is on top of the $225 for the first call to unclog my line... which he claims is a different problem. If I asked if he was sure there was a leak he'd need to charge me an additional $175 to come out to diagnose further. So I decided to do my own testing by turning the water off. And... the problem continued.
We fully turned off the fridge for 30 days when we went out of town and left the water on. No leaks... so we do not have a water leak and this KitchenAid specialist - recommended by KitchenAid would have cost us near $800 and not fixed our problem. That is horrible! So I call out a 5 star appliance company with over 100 ratings, who is amazing, and he explains what he believes the problem is and says he can't fix it. It's a poorly insulated tube and since it goes next to freezer, as water slowly drips down it gradually freezes over and water slowly backs up. He explained exactly what is happening. He also said the control panel was faulty and that temp in fridge should not vary like that. He could fix the control panel, but I'd be stuck with the other issue so he suggested I contact KitchenAid or get a new Fridge.
To have a fridge last 3 years is crazy! It never actually worked correctly. When I contact KitchenAid they don't take any responsibility and want me to call back out the KitchenAid specialist. However, I don't have money to just toss around when that person made a guess that was wrong. So I researched Class Action Lawsuits and found my exact same problem occurred in prior models, just prior to my model. To say there have been no problems that they were aware of was a lie.
Shame on KitchenAid for not taking responsibility for a poorly built fridge. They used to have a good name, but after 2 of my new appliances now needing to be replaced quality is questionable. Just go onto their Facebook website to see others comments. Even our stove required new handles because they crinkled up due to heat - a design flaw. Plus igniter went out after 3 years... Now the control panel on the stove isn't working and top stove won't turn on. Ugh! Igniters do need to be replaced but every 3 years seems a little soon. but the control panel only lasting 3 years is ridiculous... and no we don't use harsh chemicals on it. So frustrating. I wish they took care of their customers better considering what we pay for these appliances. We pay for high quality and good customer service. Unfortunately that is not what we got. Lesson learned.

We purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer model KRMF706ESS in late 2020 along with the extended warranty through AIG. Within a year the unit stopped cooling completely at which time we unplugged the unit. Once the repair tech arrived the unit was plugged in and worked fine. This problem has occurred at least 3 more times since then. Each time we will call for service and we are told it will be 2 weeks before someone can come out. During this time we will unplug the unit for 24 hours and plug it back in. It will then work again for a few months then we have the same cycle. Now we are being told there is nothing KitchenAid or AIF can do for an intermittent issue and we "have to live with it". Not the kind of quality and service I expected after paying so much for a supposed quality product.

I purchase the Kitchenaid appliance suite as part of my custom home appliance package. The refrigerator was a Bella French Door Bottom Freezer - Model No. KRFC704PFS04. Looks nice but that's where it ends. The interior large shelf cracked on its own, have no idea how it happened. The ice maker sounds like a mewing cat all the time, and now the refrigerator will not cool below 58 degrees. Everything spoiled. I called in for warranty obviously it's less than a year old. Have waited two weeks for a service appointment.
Finally, they came yesterday and it'd not an easy fix. Seal system is bad and the possible motherboard. I will have to wait a minimum 2-3 weeks for repair and that's no guarantee. I was speaking with repair tech telling him I was thinking of purchasing extended warranty and he told me not to bother. I would waste more time and it would be better to just buy a new fridge. What?? When paid SO much to get this "upgraded, made in America product". I don't understand the lack of quality that is now considered acceptable. It blows my mind to expect that consumers to go out and just replace only after a year is an acceptable practice.
Unbelievable... I have read so many reviews now that I wish I wouldn't have bought Kitchenaid/Whirlpool. Obviously, they don't care about their quality control and are producing inferior products and then selling them to unsuspecting consumers who realistically have an expectation that when you spend thousands of dollars on a "brand name product like Kitchenaid" it should last longer than 1 year. Making inferior products to line their own pockets at the expense of the consumer in regards to time and money is Disgraceful... Take heed, think before you buy, be assured the chances are you WILL have trouble. Just look at these reviews.

Dishwasher -- leaks so a part had to be replaced.
Microwave -- just stopped working.
I spent $6000 on these appliances and I expected them to work longer than two years. Kitchen Aid customer service is a joke. They say they will investigate and get back with me -- still waiting months after the request. When are these companies going to be held accountable for producing and selling junk. (I had to go and buy a small 3 cubic foot Ref. for a $170.00 The repair man came and said that the compressor was no good. His company was not up to speed on the type of free-on that was used in my Ref (why send out someone that cant repair it). Then the Whirlpool company (the parent company) called to say they would replace it with a new one (Yay) but it would be another 4 - 8 weeks before I would get it.
What happened to the word service from companies, it is non existing. So they lived up to their Warranty. I THINK I will get a new one after a total of 5 - 9 weeks without one. What is a family of 5 or six to do (especially if they can't afford $170.00 for a small one). I did drain cleaning, and if someone had toilet that did not flush, and it was their only toilet, I went right out and fixed it. I didn't tell them that it would be a week or so before I could get there. So that's about it. Yes I am getting a new one and they are living up to their warranty. Last year I bought a KitchenAid French door refrigerator. The fridge itself seemed to be well designed and I was impressed with its features. Recently, after the 12 month warranty expired, I noticed that ice cream stored in the freezer was soft. I placed a thermometer in the freezer and found that the temperatures ranged from -10C to -13C (14F to 9F). This is much higher than the -18C (0F) set point that I chose. It seems that there is a serious problem with the freezer or the thermostat. The appliance repair technician was unable to fix the problem with the first call.
I had to reschedule a second appointment where Whirlpool/KitchenAid gave me a service window for the afternoon. Unfortunately the appliance repair man called me in the morning to say that he would be coming in a half hour. I was out of the house at the time expecting him to arrive within the agreed-upon window. As a result I now have to wait for a third service call to fix the fridge. Given my experience with them, I would never recommend a Whirlpool/KitchenAid appliance to anyone. I still don't know if they will actually fix the problem or give me another excuse. Stay tuned. Tip for consumers: In reviews, look for themes (e.g. poor service). In this case, most reviews I've seen have criticized the service. Within a week of receiving the refrigerator it was leaking from the ice machine and not keeping the freezer items frozen. Being under warranty, KitchenAid, replaced a $500 part. One week after my warranty ran out the same thing was happening and I was going to have to replace it myself at $500.
So for the last 6 - 9 months we have been resetting the refrigerator at our fuse box when it abruptly goes out. We no long use the freezer or ice maker as it is not reliable. We moved into a custom built home and selected a KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer, wall oven, microwave, stove/oven combo, and two dishwashers. It’s been 2.5 years and every single appliance has had issues except one dishwasher. The refrigerator/freezer is the worst of all. First it was the ice maker, then it was the ice maker door, then it was the motor, and now the water line to the ice maker is dripping. The wood floor in front on the freezer is now ruined from all the leaks. We’ve had a repair guy out at least 5 times already and I'm going to have to call them out again to fix this new issue.
If you're wondering about the other appliances: the microwave sensor for the door is faulty. The bulb went out in one year (probably because the light stays on when it thinks the door is open) and a service person had to remove the entire wall unit to replace a $3 bulb. Also, occasionally when we press start, it does this weird halfway come on thing… They said to just restart it.
The stovetop does not regulate heat well. Low and medium flames on the medium sized eyes are exactly the same. Low boils over every time. The repair guy said, “The flame is not changing but the heat is.” Really?? Because it’s really not. We’ve learned to utilize the space between ignite and high to better control heat. I shouldn't have to implement tricks for it to act right. Also, when I put the small eye on low, it often causes the ignitor on eyes next to it to continually tick. If it doesn't do it every time, they can't fix that either. The repair guy has been out twice for the stove.
One of the dishwashers does a pretty terrible job of cleaning… not sure why but I'm going to have the service guy look at that when he comes for the freezer leak. KitchenAid small appliances are awesome. Their major appliances are not. It seems in the last couple of years, the quality has gone down quite a bit. If you choose to buy their major appliances anyway, get the extended service plan; you’re going to need it.

Due to the Global pandemic parts are hard to come by. Completely understandable. Not the company's fault. Once parts became available the issues with the service department started. We would have to wait online for literally hours at a time in order to speak with someone having to explain our story again and again. No direct number to call. And every time feeling like we were the bad guy. Feeling like we were trying to cheat the system. No one was willing to help us. They would just push us from department to department, manager to manager (never actually speaking with a manager). No one ever making a decision.
Ultimately, problem being we live in a small community with limited access to service providers. We live over three hours from a large center. And we’re left on our own to find our own service provider. After we found a service provider Whirlpool would not approve the service provider because it was only one service man. They would only approve a company that had two or more service providers because the refrigerator was too big for one person. When we offered to hire a third-party they refused so we had zero opportunities to have our new refrigerator fixed. After hours and hours on hold and fighting just to get a refrigerator fixed they finally agreed to fix it for the amount that they had originally agreed to and then change their mind but would not send any kind of documentation stating this. So now we have to pay out of pocket hoping that when we submit the paid invoice that they will reimburse us.
When asked what the turnaround time for repayment was I was told minimum four weeks. Moral of the story if you live in a small community away from a big service area you will not get your refrigerator fixed without having to pay some out-of-pocket expense. - Wasted use of space, specifically, get rid of the full-width deli drawer. You must open both French doors to access and it occupies valuable space for tall items that are used every day.
- Shelves stop short of meeting the back of the refrigerator (1/2" or more) causing bottles and cans (water, beer, ...) to slip into the space and topple over.
- Putting beverages in the door compartments is not sufficient (qty) and they have a tendency to topple out.
- Freezer (bottom) does not pull out evenly and the divider is not moveable to accommodate common items like pizza or a large turkey. Had one incident of freezer accumulating ice coverage. See this as a common complaint.
Microwave: Handle gets very hot to touch as it is positioned over the stove. Didn't know I needed pot holders to open the Microwave!
Dishwasher: Cycle is excessively long. Can't imagine it is more efficient than a shorter cycle.
Gas Range: Fittings on burners have a "gravity" fit which can easily slip off base. The variation of burner sizes is stupid. I can only use one burner to produce medium and flexible heat. The largest burner is too hot and the flame too wide. The smaller burners at the back of the stove are hard to reach for stirring slow cooking items.
I have tried to submit design suggestions to KitchenAid and their website does not provide on-line communication. I guess the dozen or so people in charge of design don't want consumer feedback. As a former product designer I feel my comments have value, so do other consumers. The options at retail are all similar, but I will definitely take this negative experience with KitchenAid products to scrutinize my next major appliance purchase.

I am completely surprised that after spending $2500.00 on a refrigerator, that functions well and initially looked great, am now, after less than a year into owning this refrigerator, now has rust spots all over the refrigerator doors. These rust spots initially started as pin-head size but now are growing larger and more numerous. After I was able to get hold of customer service who finally routed me to the correct person (after quite a bit of time on hold), I shared with this person what my issues were. He explained to me that this happens and that there was nothing he could do about it. I continually pushed him on this issue explaining that it made no sense for a top/high end brand to have issues like this.
He eventually conceded and said that he would ship all three doors and that I should schedule a time with my local KitchenAid service techs. He then said that if this occurred again that he would not be sending a new set of doors and that, "this was it, no more". When the service tech showed up he explained that this always happens with this refrigerator and to be prepared for it to happen again. This is ridiculous. I would be fine if this was a "one time thing", but to told by not only the local service technician but the KitchenAid customer service rep. as well, that this is something that, just "happens" is absurd.
In addition to this, it took 90 days for the doors to arrive and after they did, it was found that they sent in two left doors! I have now been informed that I will have to wait 60 days for the right door. The local service rep that KitchenAid directed me to, did a poor job of installing the doors that I did receive, they were not aligned, the gasket was "stuffed" into the door so that there was heat exchange from the outside causing an improper seal so that moisture began to collect along the seams. ALSO, the door that they did send had a torn (or cut) gasket. Again, this is ridiculous that such a high end brand would affiliate with poor field techs, and send damaged product. I'm beside myself and at a loss.
I'd say, if you are thinking of purchasing this product, STEER CLEAR. Due to my experience with KitchenAid's customer service and the my experience with this particular product, I will NOT be purchasing any product from KitchenAid, and will do my best to dissuade others from doing the same. Let me add that I am using the manufactures suggested cleaning product. The KitchenAid rep initially tried to suggest that the rust spots were due to me and improper care and cleaning.

We purchased a Kitchen Aid Refrigerator (Model KRFF507ESS, 27 cu. ft, French door with ice/water machine) and in the 4 years we've had it, we've spent almost 50% of the purchase price (close to $1300) on repairs. This model has a documented problem with the "frozen fresh food evaporator" - Google the issue and you'll find numerous customer complaints about this very issue. Most recently, the ice maker stopped working and we were told it'd be an additional $455 of repair. The authorized service repairman in our area (whom we've gotten to know due to the ongoing repair issues) even commented during this most recent visit that the KitchenAid models he's serviced last, on average, 8 years.
When I explained the situation to KitchenAid Customer Service this afternoon, they offered to "schedule a non-warranty service" for me (i.e., something I could literally do by picking up the phone myself). After being transferred to a KitchenAid supervisor, I was then told that they'd offer me a 40% discount off a brand new product. After spending almost $1300 on a $2600 refrigerator! AS IF. We will never purchase KitchenAid again. We thought we were purchasing a quality product and it's been nothing but a lemon, requiring costly repair after costly repair. We take impeccable care of all appliances/products, which is what made this situation all the more frustrating. Folks, be sure you purchase those extended warranties! You will need them with your KitchenAid refrigerator!!!!

I’ve had the cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave for three years. THREE YEARS!!! The refrigerator stopped cooling. The next day the freezer stopped freezing. We waited five weeks for the one and only repair company in our area, Guinco, to come out. Was told that a part, which was no longer under warranty $507, had malfunctioned. Waited another four weeks for the part to come in. When the part arrived they put it on and then discovered the condenser, which thankfully is under warranty, $1,000+, was no good. So now we’re having to wait another six weeks for the new condenser. Practically four months. That is totally absurd.
Why they feel only one company in my state is authorized to work on these substandard appliances, I don’t know. Luckily we have an older refrigerator in the garage. My husband went out and bought a portable ice maker, also. I read on the website that Kitchenaid/Whirlpool products can last between 15-17 years. If that’s the case for the “few” products that do not last longer than three years, it should be an automatic replacement. That would be excellent customer service. Do not buy this product. Run, do not pass. Go as far away from this cheap as heck product. The product “looks” fabulous but it’s all a delusion. Again, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS CRAP PRODUCT.

His name was Steven. Came over my house. Already complaining that he was an hour late because of his GPS. He proceeded to look at my refrigerator and say he wasn’t sure if it was a thermostat. He went outside and called whirlpool. Spoke to the tech named Bruce. Came back inside very frustrated and angry that he had to take my refrigerator completely apart. Therefore the evaporating system was behind my freezer panel. Took apart my entire freezer. He then complained that he told whirlpool this was not going to work. It was a waste of his time.
Stephen then proceeded to re-put my door completely together while I was on the phone with Kitchen Aid to put a formal complaint because now he wants to change my motherboard of my refrigerator. When I came out of my bedroom he already packed and was ready to leave. I checked my freezer door and my door does not align correctly. Call him back into my house to fix it. He looked at it. Said he’s not fixing it. Find another tech. Gotten his vehicle and left.
This is poor customer service. He then proceeded to write a fabricated report that I was aggressive and use foul language. Thank God I did record this gentleman. This gentleman is nothing but an habitual liar. Then I had tech-support Steve from field appliance supposedly a manager. Don’t know what they think a manager should be but the customer is always right, I felt this guy was not listening to a word I said. Apparently they must get a lot of customer complaints. I proceeded to tell this gentleman the story of what happened and told him that his tech was completely a liar. He continue to protect his employee and told me to call Kitchen Aid.
Like I said no customer service. Very unprofessional. Poor service and fixing. I don’t think their techs know what they’re doing. They’re just second-guessing everything. And just want whirlpool to keep paying them to come out to keep fixing parts and pieces. Now I have an ice chest that doesn’t slide open and close and my door is completely off alignment. KitchenAid suggested that we could have avoided this by buying their extended warranty, but I expected to receive a quality product that would not fail in 19 months. Here is where the problem starts and the reason of of my 2 star review. They informed me that the part if not available, that they have no idea when it will be available, and that they can not provide a date or any other resolution. Basically what they told me is your 9 year old $8,000 product can stop working and we do not care if we produce the parts to service it anyone.
Please do not buy any product from a company that cannot produce the parts to fix it after only 9 years. I know the time seems like a long life, but 9 years life for a $8K product is not a reasonable expectation. Last the customer service is very poor, representative refused to escalate, or provide any other resolution. They really do expect that I have to accept a no working refrigerator while I am waiting for some magical date to resolve the issue on a part that they do not produce anymore. (For clarification, I'm middle aged, this is the 5th home I have owned and remodeled in my lifetime, and I consider myself reasonably intelligent with reasonable expectations.) I have had issues with the refrigerator within the first month of installation. - The water dispenser was and is incredibly loud. You can hear it on the other side of house.

If the left door was left slightly ajar, the alarm would not go off: The authorized Kitchenaid repair person told me that it was the design, and that one particular door is impacted and there was nothing wrong with the unit. - The lights on the inside of the unit would randomly not work, but then work 1 hour to 2 days later: The authorized Kitchenaid repair person told me that it was a head-scratcher, But because it was functioning when he looked at it, nothing to be done.
I decided to purchase an extended warranty because I was already nervous about the longevity of the unit. During that extended warranty time, the previously mentioned items continued. Three weeks after the warranty expired, the unit basically died. It would randomly defrost the entire freezer and only come back on by flipping the breaker several times. The interior lights would not work about 30% of the time and the water dispenser would randomly stop working. When the freezer would start to thaw, so would the ice in the icemaker... and leak all over the floor.
I had a different repair person come out. I was not going to have the same useless waste of time company come out if it was going to be out of my pocket. They replaced the entire motor. It worked for two days, and started the process again. They then replaced one of the primary computer boards. $1100 later, it worked for 3 weeks and then started thawing, defrosting, lights off, etc again. The thing is either possessed or a total lemon.

I decide to call KitchenAid directly again and a service rep tells me he sees the part is available, apologizes for the now four-week wait and says they'll send it directly to me via 2nd day. Of course, it's now the next week (5 weeks without a fridge at this point) and the part still hasn't arrived. I called KitchenAid to ask what is going on. They said now the part is back-ordered until the end of the year at the earliest! Best case scenario that means I will be without a working fridge for 12 weeks!!! For a part that is supposed to be covered by warranty. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID OR WHIRLPOOL.

Purchased a French door refrigerator from KitchenAid in 2017. To date, they have had to replace one of the French doors and the freezer door, now the rubber seal on the other French door is broken. The refrigerator is not used hard, we are a retired couple. The two doors that were replaced were due to a rust like discoloration bleeding through the stainless finish. In calling customer service to get the torn seal replaced, I have been placed on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes and still have not spoken to a person, I honestly don’t know if anyone will ever answer. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy these products, expensive and not worth it.

We are in a new condo and wanted our new refrigerator to be counter depth. I always thought of KitchenAid as a high end brand than other manufacturers and they made a counter depth stainless steel refrigerator. The cost was a lot more but we thought we would get a quality product. In less than 3 months outside water dispenser came on each time we used the ice maker. The outside water ran for a short time each time. Because of the worldwide Corona virus we were not willing to call a repair person to come into our home. Each time the water would run down the front of the stainless steel refrigerator and I would wipe it up. In spite of polishing it the stainless steel door on the freezer side became stained with watermarks. Over a couple of months of polishing the the stainless discolored looks rusty.a It is not yet a year old.
We called a repair person three weeks ago and we are being told the ice maker will be replaced under warranty. I plan to contact the store we bought this and ask for the front doors to be replaced or the refrigerator to be replaced. We live in Mexico and bought this at a well established store with a great reputation. Friends of ours bought a different brand refrigerator and the stainless steel is much heavier and a better quality. I have also compared the stainless on the front of other refrigerator manufacturers and many are more superior to the KitchenAid. What has happened to the KitchenAid brand? If I could rate my experience lower than one star I would. BUYERS DO YOUR HOMEWORK. IT'S NOT WORTH BUYING A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR.

Purchased a Kitchen Aid side-by-side refrigerator as part of a new home purchase. Everything was fine for the first year but then the lights in the refrigerator and freezer began going out. I called Kitchen Aid and they scheduled a service repair. Two lights were replaced (at no cost to me) and about 3 months later, the same issue came up again; no lights. Again I called Kitchen Aid and they sent out the same service repair company and they again replaced two lights (at no cost to me). Now, 4 months have passed and the lights are out again in both the refrigerator and freezer.
I called Kitchen Aid a third time and they said the refrigerator was out of warranty and I was on my own even though they didn't fix the problem when it was under warranty. I believe the LED light panel needs to be replaced costing several hundred dollars. Kitchen Aid quality is average at best and I would recommend not purchasing their product. My refrigerator retails for about $10,000, model KBSD608ESS, so I would expect much better quality.

Four years into use, it has stopped cooling, 2 technicians (including KitchenAid) employee confirms the Seal System is broken hence not cooling! He ordered the part, but said it’ll take 2 wks because it’s still under Warranty (10yrs). When you call the customer service department, hold time is 1hr, and you would get agents that are unable to provide any meaningful assistance or help to resolve your issue. Long story short, I checked today to see the status of the part, and was told it’s on backorder and not sure when it’ll be received or sent out!! I have been without a refrigerator this long!! Also, the water dispenser inside the left by the spine of the door requires two free hands and has too much pressure, usually splashing water around the inside of the refrigerator.

As part of a complete KitchenAid appliance package purchase three years ago, we purchased a KitchenAid Fridge Model KRFF707ESS01. Rather than take the specced Frigidaire appliance group that was included with our new home purchase, we elected to spend the extra money believing KitchenAid was a superior product. During the past year, we have encountered some of the inner cabinet led lights not functioning and others flickering on and off. We have determined that it isn’t a simple fix such as a door switch, but rather defective led lights and or an led emitter control board. It appears this is a common problem, however KitchenAid is not acknowledging it as a manufacturer defect.
I have read a number of online posts reporting the same issues. The reviewers report having replaced faulty led lights, only to have the same problem reoccur. In one case the reviewer stated they were advised that nothing could be done to remedy the problem. I strongly advise you to not buy a KitchenAid fridge with this led lighting design. Repairs are either extremely costly or impractical as the problem will only reoccur. A highly respected technician in our area has confirmed that this is a common problem with KitchenAid fridges. This is a manufacturer defect and needs to be dealt with accordingly.

We bought a top of the line KitchenAid refrigerator, including an icemaker, about 2 1/2 years ago when we rebuilt our home after a fire. It has a stainless steel door to match the other appliances in out kitchen. Initially, everything worked fine. More recently, the ice was melting in the ice maker and it was jamming. The door also has become damaged and started rusting. We didn't buy the extended warranty, so we had a repair person come to service the refrigerator. He replaced a part and recharged with some freon. The repair cost $500. The ice was still melting (about a month later), so we asked the repair person to come again. He said the compressor is faulty and has to be replaced. It would have to be shipped from outside the country and would cost more than $1,000 (plus labor!). We have decided to replace the refrigerator.

I would love to share my experience with my new KitchenAid refrigerator, however it appears at Whirlpool who makes KitchenAid refrigerators is not up to the task of manufacturing it and getting it shipped!!! How can one have faith in a company that cannot manage its supply chain? I ordered this refrigerator from a major appliance retailer on the East Coast, Karl's appliance on the 5th of June 2020. Its delivery date has been postponed three times already with no firm commitment as to when the product will ship. I made the mistake of continually waiting thinking I've invested this much time already I might as well wait for it to arrive. This turned out to be an ill-advised strategy. KitchenAid refrigerators are simply not shipping.
Had I ordered a Bosch, or GE or any of a number of brands not manufactured by Whirlpool, I would have had my refrigerator for months. If you are prepared to put your trust in a company that cannot honor its commitment dates, then Whirlpool/KitchenAid maybe a viable option for you. For me however this incompetence in handling supply chain management is a deal-breaker! I will not likely ever purchase a Whirlpool/KitchenAid product again.

We purchased a nearly $4000 KitchenAid refrigerator on May 22, 2019 (KPFC704FSS). Within a year (June 17, 2020, the ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator stopped cooling. During the course of the next two and a half months, a new compressor was installed. The fridge began to cool again, but no ice was being made. A new ice maker was ordered, but Whirlpool initially refused to provide it at no charge. Eventually, the company relented and a new ice maker was installed on July 16. Within days of installation of the ice maker, there was still no ice being made. After more phone calls, we were offered a voucher for a new refrigerator of any kind or a new KitchenAid fridge identical to the one we had. We agreed to a new KitchenAid refrigerator be delivered. BIG MISTAKE!
After no delivery or delivery notice for three weeks, on August 17, 2020, a call was made to the appliance store to determine the delivery status of our new replacement refrigerator and we were told to call back on September 16 —perhaps by then a there would be an answer to our question of ‘when?’ Presently, there is no known delivery date; not even a known month of possible delivery. Some of the foods we use like that temperature. The documentation about the model in the User Manual says the set point for the freezer is -5 degrees F to 3 degrees F. We set -5 F into the system. We today 8/12/2020 had a service tech (factory authorized) check the freezer and he found that the average temp in the freezer from the diagnostic panel showed 0 degrees F over the last 10 hours. I purchased, unfortunately, the complete upper end Kitchenaid appliance for our kitchen 5 years ago from Home Depot and with the extended warranty with Asurion. Within 2 years the dishwasher had many problems that required several repairs: new computer board, new pump, new door, new seals, new wash arms and more. The self clean for the oven never works at all and never fixed. The microwave often refuse to work at all and must unplug and wait 15 or more minutes to work and never fixed. The worse... the $3500 French door refrigerator freezer has died 4 times. Needs new defective wire system that the fix damaged interior parts that were never covered or fixed.
Next the freezer fans died. Next the ice maker stopped making ice...still waiting for that fix. And now the water will not flow as well. And each time we must shut it down and lose lots of food. Asurion coverage is slow and limited and uses distant repair companies that break things and never follow through for many weeks. Do not buy their coverage. Home Depot never back these awful appliance either. And Kitchenaid simply does not care and says sorry its is not their problem. Worse appliance I ever had in over 50 years. Avoid at all costs.

New fridge delivered 1/30/19. 2/9/19 freezer completely covered in ice, day 15 freezer still not properly working. Called Kit Aid/Whirlpool & they said “we’re slammed”. They couldn’t tell me if it was in warranty. Told me to look at my manual. After many calls, a new fridge was delivered. They took fridge out of box to find one upper door was significantly damaged. Their answer was to take door off the one being returned & replace the damaged door. 8 months later freezer items are melting & refrigerator temp goes to 45 degrees. Thermostat is replaced. January 2020 freezer drawer & ice very loose. Won’t stay in place- another service call. February 2020 everything in freezer is melted again-another service call.
Now, there is rust on the outside of the freezer door, and the top left door doesn’t seal well at all. The seals on both sides are torn. I was told that might be expected on a 15 year old appliance but certainly not on an 18 mos old fridge. I suspect when they swapped out the door from the broken fridge it didn’t fit correctly. Also, KA said I must have used abrasive cleaners & brushes for the rust to appear. That has never happened. We have been extremely careful to use only water and soft cloth to wipe. Their insinuation is insulting.
I have been given names, emails, phone #s at Whirlpool, at All South Appliance etc. The customer service is lousy, non-exsistent in fact. After sending multiple pictures to different people, I have been told they cannot extend warranty coverage (I had been told twice that was probably how it would be handled). To say I am irate is an understatement. Never buy a KA. It doesn’t matter that you spent $3000 for what you expected to be high quality. It is junk and corporate KA/Whirlpool could care less.

After purchasing our KitchenAid French door refrigerator, a grinding noise started coming from the refrigerator within the first couple of months, and there were giant icicles (over 3" wide") hanging down from various parts of the freezer. I would break off the icicles and the next day there would be more. I shot several videos of the problems, and went down to show them to the salesperson where we purchased it. He said that he wasn't sure if they would go through the Kitchen Aid warranty, or the store warranty, but that he would take care if it, order a replacement refrigerator, and call me when it came in.
Months passed, and we went into the Christmas season, then New Year's, and I was too preoccupied to deal with it. The grinding noise went away, but the ice build-up became so great that it created two problems: On the one hand, it prevented the freezer drawer from closing because there was so much ice behind the drawers--it would break off and fall on the freezer floor, creating a blockage--this has incidentally resulted in our freezer defrosting countless times, and having to throw away endless amounts of food. When that happens, the system stops making ice as well, so there's that. Additionally, the refrigerator warms to about 45 degrees. This has happened more times than I can count, and we ultimately have to get on the ground and scrape all of the ice out with an ice-pick and yardstick.
The other issue with the ice is that it prevented the freezer drawers from sliding, so when I pulled one of the drawers forward, the front panel literally pulled off in my hand. So now we have a drawer with no front, on a newish refrigerator. The ice maker makes a tub of ice, then because it must be melting slightly and refreezing, it all forms into one giant ice cube, so the ice dispenser never works either, and I have to chip all of the ice out with an ice-pick.
When I had finally had enough, I went down and spoke with the same salesperson (by this time, over a year had passed), and he said that he didn't remember the conversation, and that there was nothing that they could do about it. We called the manager over, and he laughed saying that so much time had passed, of course they couldn't do anything. We have documented proof from the first 60 days (in the form of videos with dates) that this refrigerator is a $3,100 lemon. This refrigerator needs to be recalled.
