WARNING on the Carrier Infinity "Premiere" HVAC system. Heat Pump is like an aircraft revving its engine outside your window. (Professionally installed by a "pillar" in Jefferson City, MO. It's not hitting any joists or walls, the heat pump is powerful and LOUD! Mine is a$14,000 system that has been a lemon since I bought it. Heat Pump is stupid loud, smart thermostat went out (I don't even use all of those features), at 6-7 years now, the AC went out...lost the refrigerant ($450). They charged it with nitrogen to check it...but after they left...the compressor went out. Again...lost all the refrigerant. I'm looking at $916 in labor and refrigerant.

They provided a new compressor (thank goodness) but this "premiere" Infinity system...the $14,000 system falls apart from day 1! I don't think it can handle the pressure it generates and therefore it just falls apart. It's nice when it works (LOUD if it's the heat pump). Quiet and nice when the AC works....but a piece of junk after 2-5 years. Carrier needs to STEP UP and do something about this CLEAR quality defect! Remember when you just did normal maintenance on your HVAC system and they lasted 20-years...? Come on Carrier...you're better than this. Help us out!!!

2 years after purchasing units, the gas valves are wet, rusty, and corroded, forcing my HVAC company to unnecessarily move pipes that are not guaranteed to fix the problem. Gas valves are important to a gas furnace, which leaves us feeling unsafe due to Carrier's faulty design that the HVAC company must try to rig back together.

Installed a Carrier Furnace in 2010 (model 58MVC080-14). Had to replace the Inducer motor in 2022. Now in Oct 2026 my furnace is tripping and has been diagnosed with the heat exchanger going bad. My contractor thinks it is both Primary and Secondary heat exchanger. They are covered under warranty, but when he tried to reach out to the local distributor to get the parts they are asking him to pay $3100. Probably they want some money being held until the warranty paperwork processes.

My contractor does not want to pay for this and I am stuck. Called Carrier Heat Exchanger warranty department - someone answered and took my complaint courteously and promised to escalate and assigned a case # - but when she transfers me to the senior customer service - it just puts you on hold for ever with no call back. So, looks like they more than willingly open a case, but no one is interested in following up. In the meantime, I am stuck with no heat! Expected something much better from a reputed company like Carrier. Crazy that they blatantly ignore you.

I installed 2 Carrier HVAC systems a little over 3 years ago. I have a maintenance contract covering both, so all maintenance has been completed according to recommendations. Yet both systems had to have the blower fans replaced within 2 months of each other. Not sure where they are sourcing these parts but they are trash. They covered the parts but I’m out over $1K in labor. My old systems had no issues for 20+ years. I’m regretting going with Carrier, they should cover labor as well for their inferior products.

Updated on 08/28/2026: I have 3 units in a 50'x50' insulated metal building. At the 2.5 year mark, unit #2 died, leaking all freon out. Cause of death: temperature probe plastic clip was jammed into the coil at the factory. Upon further inspection, the outside unit had a bent needle valve at the freon fill port, from the factory. This cost me over $615.00 in freon, NOT covered by the manufacturer!

Forward to this week. Power bills were higher than expected, Unit #3 iced up, and shut the system down with us watching it. I immediately shut off the breaker. All freon leaked at the outside unit this time. The caps covering the freon ports vibrated loose, but here's the catch: I watched my HVAC technician replace the seals, needle valve and tighten ALL connections properly at the first issue. The outside unit is quiet, with no appreciable vibration, and no one has touched it. (I have security cams, as do my neighbors). Our only guess is that the threading at the freon ports might have been machined out of spec.

To my HVAC company owner's credit, HE covered the entire cost of the call and freon. I've trusted his team for many years, working on my commercial units, and have referred them to quite a few friends. If this unit fails again, I will be contacting our local Carrier rep for compensation, or replacement of the entire system. What was once a quality name, has been seriously tarnished by their units and/or components manufactured in China, apparently. I was going to install a $30k Carrier system (3 units), in a new construction cabin build in the east Tennessee mountains, but have decided otherwise now. Let the buyer beware, and I wish you the best in your decision making.

Original Review: Was recommended by my trusted HVAC people. 2 and 1/2 years after the installation, one unit spun a bearing and completely grenaded. Took over 2 weeks to find a replacement unit. Unit was warrantied for the one part that caused the freon to leak. It was a Bent needle valve, installed at the factory, but it still cost me $800 in Freon, because the company will not warranty that even though it was their part that caused it. It. Last night, August 23rd, 2026, just over the 3-year Mark, and another unit with this system has failed. Has failed. Problem, it appears as if the freon leaked out when a bearing act failed and that inside unit. Carrier should replace the freon if there are parts cause us to lose it. If one unit loses freon, it drains from the entire system. All 3 of my units are running inside of it a well insulated 50x 50-ft hanger, connected to an outside unit that was designed to hold 5 mini splits.

As a new homeowner, I purchased a newly built home where a Carrier HVAC system was already installed by the builder. The system is less than two years old and has already suffered a major part failure, yet Carrier is leaving me completely stuck with a $774 labor bill. When I called to voice my frustration, they claimed they only cover parts—however, my closing papers show a 10-year warranty with zero mention of a parts-only restriction. Carrier cannot simply deflect responsibility to an independent installer for a premature hardware defect or hide behind unwritten exclusions. When I posted a review on Trustpilot, Carrier responded with an empty PR gesture. Future buyers should be aware that Carrier fails to stand behind their systems and uses technicalities to dodge proper warranty support.

Could not get a human on the phone from the manufacturer or installer. Installer is a small dealer not even listed on the carrier website yet I paid the contractor (Racing Green) 26k for the unit which apparently must be serviced by these guys if Carrier is to honor the warranty. Why can’t any Carrier dealer make a warranty claim? Seems crazy the same people who apparently didn’t install it correctly get another chance. First and last Carrier.

Well Terri and a half years later I’ve had to replace a fan motor, luckily under warranty, but $1,000 in labor and a restock fee was a bit disappointing. Two months later I’m spending $1800 to replace the condenser coil. I complained to the installer and they said, “Yeah, Carrier sucks now. Their quality has is terrible, we never recommend them, and we only installed it because your builder told us to…”. Since we weren’t given a choice, I’m guessing my builder was just trying to save money. Luckily this part is also under warranty also. Otherwise, I would all totaled I would be spending about $10,000 on replacement parts.

Everybody in the HVAC business recommended that we buy a Carrier Hybrid Heat Pump to replace our old Trane system, so we made the mistake of listening to them. Most of the dealers didn't even know how to order a "Gas Pack," so it wasn't easy to even order the unit. Most companies wanted us to buy a stand-alone gas furnace and an outdoor AC unit, but we insisted on a Hybrid, which gave them a problem. They wanted to sell us a new unit, but most of them either couldn't get one or they didn't know how to order one.

When we found someone that agreed to order one, we were relieved, but our contentment soon disappeared once the unit was installed. It would never stop running, and it would not reach the temperature that it was set on. Instead of being energy efficient, it costs us more, cause it was always running. When it was one year old, it had wiring issues, that caused us to have it repaired under warranty. We figured that we had purchased a lemon, and just as soon as the 2-year warranty expired, a high-end complex 2-stage scroll compressor failed in the unit. They make these parts just long enough to make it through the warranty, then they fail completely, and the parts are extraordinarily costly! This one repair will cost us over $2,000.00 to fix, and it will only be the beginning of a cascade of failures.

I have used Carrier HVAC systems for over 30 years, both commercial and residential products. In the beginning, Carrier had good and reliable products, and I was quite happy with them. However I had nothing but problems with my current residential HVAC system. My current Carrier HVAC is their top of the line residential unit, very expensive. It is less than 9 years old. Within the last 2-3 years, I had the thermostat replaced twice. Yes, the first replacement failed and we had to replace the thermostat a second time. Then the inducer in the furnace failed and that was an epensive part. Then came a big shocker - the inverter in the heat pump failed, and the inverter costs over $7,000. That's not a typo. The inverter, whch is bascially a PCA (printed circuit assembly) costs over SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Just one part in the heat pump.

My neighbor's Trance basic system, the whole HVAC system, costs about the same price. I don't mind paying higher price for a reliable and better quality system. But this higher price Carrier top-of-the-line system is expensive, but poor quality and not reliable at all. I contacted Carrier Corporation and they basically said that's the way it is. No apology and no intention of correcting any problems. STAY AWAY FROM CARRIER. DON'T BE THE NEXT VICTIM.

A very frustrating situation staying over 20 days without the HVAC system working during December and January.

      Punctuality & Speed

      Reviewed Dec. 28, 2025

I bought my Carrier Infinity system thinking I was getting a top of the line efficient system. What I got is a system that is incredibly efficient at being wrong. You have to use their controller to get that efficiency. You could use any thermostat, but will loose variable speed efficiency, and I'm seriously considering it so that I can reliably control it. When I say turn on the fan, I want it turned on now, not whenever the cloud service thinks it's convenient. When I say turn on at 7am, I want it to turn on at 7 am when the sun comes up and my solar panels are operating, not 6:45 before sunrise. The proprietary nonsense is untenable. Worst case of buyers remorse I've ever experienced.
