For reliability, I will NOT buy Carrier again. I've had routine problems with two units. Faulty parts and constant hassles! Every three years or so, I'm shelling out money on repairs even with warrantied parts.

I'm very disgusted with my Carrier Infinity Series, and with the Carrier Company. I've read the other reviews on this site, which motivated me to write one of my own. My unit was supposed to be the creme de la creme of heat pumps when I bought it in May 2014. It threw error messages the first night it was installed, but would reset. Many times, I wasn't even aware of the error message. After one year, the house wasn't cooling and I received an electric bill that was four times above normal. Something in the unit cause the heat to operate on high, simultaneously with the AC. It ran nonstop, trying to cool the house with the heat running. It took our technicians nine trips to finally figure out what was wrong with the unit. At that point, I asked for a replacement, believing I'd gotten a lemon. "Carrier doesn't do that! But, we will get if fixed. It won't cost you out of pocket!"
Well, what about all the work we had to miss, along with the extreme electric bills. Last year, we had the same problem. Worst of all, we were vacationing and away, while the unit was malfunctioning. Another high electric bill when we got home, and I knew exactly what the cause was. Unfortunately, the techs arrived one day after the 10yr warranty had expired. The tech tried multiple fixes that did not work. I explained what the problem was and they finally looked at what I was telling them. Still, I was out $1500 already, before the techs order the parts they needed--which arrived three months later because the parts were not available.
I chose to keep the unit last year, eat the loss, hoping this would resolve our issued for another five to ten years. No! This year, the unit is doing the same thing. I got it looked at and serviced, spending another $500. I brought in another company to look at the unit, feeling the original company/techs, didn't know what they were doing. The new company says it needs a circuit board on the inside unit--$1800. They disconnected the heater coil, so I can have AC. I'll use that until Fall, before purchasing a new system before winter sets in. I'm done with Carrier. Customer service is non existent and the company lacks the integrity to stand behind their products.

I’m extremely disappointed in Carrier. My furnace’s secondary heat exchanger failed just two years after the warranty expired, which I’ve now learned is a known issue tied to a class action lawsuit. Despite reaching out directly and professionally asking for any support—such as repair assistance, product credit, or a discount toward a new unit—Carrier flatly refused to help. What’s worse is that I was never informed of the potential defect. Carrier has shown zero accountability or concern for customers affected by this defect, even though the issue is well-documented. I expected more from a company with Carrier’s reputation, but their lack of transparency, poor customer service, and refusal to stand behind their product says it all. I will not be buying Carrier again, and I strongly urge others to consider brands that support their customers.

I purchased a Carrier unit in 2023. It was used for two seasons and it is now leaking and the evaporator coils have frozen. I reached out to Carrier through the BBB and they requested information but stop responding. I reached out to the installers and they would like to band-aid the issue under warranty until the warranty runs out. I have read a number of similar complaints and I'm curious to know how many complaints are needed for a class action lawsuit. Carrier products are defective and I believe they are fully aware but don't care.

We have a Carrier Furnace and air conditioner. The air conditioner was installed late in 2000, and we're now in 2025 spring. So the air conditioner has only been used for about 4 seasons. At our recent checkup, the tech told us that the evaporator coil was leaking and that it needed replacement. Fortunately, we had a warranty for parts, but the labor on this will be $1,285. We trust our installers, so we know they are not cheating us with labor costs. If we hadn't had a parts warranty, the bill would have been over $4,000. This is unacceptable for a relatively new unit. We've had a Carrier unit previously, with no problems. This one is a piece of junk. I have no idea why the quality has degraded. We have no faith in this company now, and will never buy another Carrier product. We would like to support a U.S. made productc, but noticed that Carrier moved its operations to other countries in 2016.

We have 2 carrier roof top units for our small business, both installed 5 years ago. The small one no problem in 5 years, the slightly larger unit has now gone through 4 blower motors in 5 years at a cost of about $2000 per failure. Carrier customer service is useless and doesn't deserve the name "service" and clearly there is an underlying problem with the design that Carrier won't admit to.

Even though I am a registered nurse for almost 27 years now I have a sound mechanical background. I purchased a 2.5 ton central heat and air conditioner from a local certified contractor and had it installed in July of 2021. The first month of installation the home temperature was over 84 degrees, with thermostat set at 72. Technicians would evaluate and shoot more Freon in. In January the TXV valve went out and the unit was literally an iceberg attached to my home. The unit still was not performing as well as a contractor grade Goodman unit that I upgraded from.
Well 2 weeks ago, the unit sounded stuck in defrost mode. Well the technicians then informed me the TXV valve again was going out along with the compressor. So in just over 3 years I have had to replace 2 TXV valves and a compressor. I informed the local company that I felt that it was a lemon and wanted them to try and get Carrier to replace unit. They 100% agreed and paperwork was submitted through a regional Carrier representative. Carrier declined, and sent parts instead. Now the original quote for cost was almost 1700 dollars. I complained enough to bring price down to 900.
My contractor grade Goodman survived a lightning strike so close it fried the outside breakers, and still lasted 16 years. I spent more on the Carrier unit, and thought it would be a good investment. I was completely wrong. I completely understand things happen in either parts, assembly or installation. But sometimes you just end up with a LEMON. It’s when this happens a company should stand behind their reputation and product. None of this occurred with Carrier. I have never written a bad review like this in my life, and I don’t embellish events. I wrote this to try and help save someone else a lot of disappointment and frustration.

My electric bills for those two months was over $1,000. This year, it's started acting up again. Took 4 hours for the heat to go from 65 to 68. But labor isn't covered anymore of course. Well, where do I start? I had a brand new house, my AC breaks down and the fan burned out on the condenser. Then the fan broke again. Then my AC man says the motherboard needs to be replaced. I've been waiting for the motherboard for 6 months now. I get the same exact excuses all the time. That it's on back order from Carrier. How do you run a company? And don't have the proper parts to replace when there's a problem and it gets even worse, then the fan blower on the air handler goes bad. Then they replace the thermostat inside the house. Still all the same problem?
The problem is the refrigerate line gets extremely hot. The fan on the condenser stays on all night and continuously and blows hot air through the ductwork at 1st. When the AC kicks on finally I feel hot stinky air for 4 seconds and my AC man can't figure it out, because he's been here several times and the last thing he thinks it is the motherboard, which I could possibly believe now, but I will not hold my breath. And I'm sad to say that I have a Carrier air conditioner at this time. PLEASE HELP ME??? I give it 2 stars. Carrier's warranty is a fraud! Do not trust them. My husband and I spent over $50,000 to install a brand new carrier high efficiency system. At the time of installation we were promised with 10 year manufacture warranty for parts and five year for labor. Two years into it, one of the sensors broke and we called a local Carrier authorized installer. The sensor is probably cost $20-$30 to replace off market. However even the part was falling under the warranty, the local Carrier dealer wanted to charge us $436 for it. The charge was for "Freight and Warranty Charge".
When we called Carrier directly and asked why they would charge $436 for a warranty part. They said they are just manufacturer and they have no way to tell how much their authorized dealer is going to charge customers for their warranty. They also do not stock any items that could ship to the customers directly! So Carrier does not do warranty for any of its products and nor does the company honor its warranty through their own authorized dealers! To get their warranty, you might as buy the parts yourself because their dealer will charge you for the items for 10 times more price.

We spent over 14,000 on 2 Air Conditioning units from International Comfort Products. Both of our units make a loud clanking noise when the AC units turn off. One of the units also makes a loud buzzing noise that you can hear from across the street and all the way into our backyard. The unit that makes the loud buzzing noise is on the side of the house about 40 feet from the backyard. Our porch area is about 30 feet long from the side of the house and we can hear the buzzing noise from over 70 feet away very clear. Our neighbors are complaining about the noise. It actually sounds like we have a generator running from the side of our house.
I have put in several complaints to ICP and they refuse to do anything about it. The units we purchased wer Day and Night. I would not recommend any of ICP products. All they will do is blame the distributor and the vendor. They take no ownership whatsoever in the products they design and build. Very disappointed we spent so much money to have AC units that are so loud. We cannot have any peace and quiet on our back porch and that disturb our neighbors.

My outdoor condenser went bad on a unit that is LESS THAN 3 YEARS old and UNDER WARRANTY but when contacting them, they told me it was going to take 3-4 months to get the part. Without this part, the entire AC system would not run. I live in South Florida where it has been over 90 degrees with high humidity and the only solution they would provide is to go 3-4 months WITHOUT AC and practically die inside of the house. I was forced to have to buy a brand new outdoor condenser so that my house is livable and they do nothing knowing they have a warranty that is a scam and no one can use because of how long it takes to get the parts knowing AC is a necessity for human life here. I purchased a 16 Seer HVAC system from Carrier in February of 2022 for $7,000. I had paid over $300 for twice yearly system inspections from the installer. Inside of 15 months the unit failed. I called the installer who had checked out the system just a month earlier. They did a diagnosis and found that a had to get to valve in the outdoor a/c unit was leaking. I called Carrier about it. They said to get it repaired and send them the invoice. I did that. They said they could not cover the cost of the repair because they only give a 1 year warranty on labor. The 10-year warranty is only for parts. (BUYER BEWARE: any parts failure will incur huge labor costs to repair and if it is an a/c unit, you will be on the hook to replace the coolant as well).
This failure was a failure on the part of the manufacturer who allowed a substandard part to be installed on a new unit, or to have that part installed substandardly with no quality control. This was not the fault of the installer or the owner (myself). That a product from a company with a "superior reputation" for quality in their business should allow an expensive system to be sold with substandard parts or workmanship and then not take any responsibility to reimburse the owner for its correction in just 15 months is in my opinion negligent and irresponsible. As a retired senior, I actually took a part time job to earn the money to buy this "reputable" unit. Carrier couldn't care less that it cost me over $700 to repair this new unit. We had the usual service every year to keep the unit working properly. 9-28-23 we paid to get the usual service check to make sure everything was working $249. 11-13-23 service call for not heating $95. 11-20-23 installed starter kit on capacitor $225. 12-5-23 System not heating - installed TXV on outside unit $670. 12-14 Replaced air handler coil for leak $1,253. 2-15-24 Still not heating - TXV in air handler needs replacing, approx estimate $1,300. All these cost is for labor, shipping cost for parts and Freon.
For a unit barely 2 years old this is crazy and totally disappointing. We used to love Carrier and have bought them for our previous built homes. No more! Sorry, but we fail to understand why faulty parts could cost so much when we have to pay for labor and shipping expenses to replace them. I would expect to at least get 5 years out of something so expensive. BBB is our next stop.

Warranty Carrier hvac unit from defective component destroyed wiring harness and heater coil. It is in the middle of winter. My wife and I are seniors. My hvac contractor asked me to find wiring harness. He could not find. I called Carrier corporate, I called Houston Texas, Pharr texas, Dallas texas, St. Paul/ Mpls. Minnesota and Canada. No wiring harness available until maybe May 2024. After some internet research there have been many fires due to either design or component failures over the years with Carrier units. In fact, my contractor sent me images of a woman who had 3 small children whose Carrier unit caught fire. Then a couple of days later, I got another report of another Carrier unit. How does Carrier get these high reviews? Do they just purchase positive ratings of being best?

I have a Carrier Infinity HVAC original system when we built our house in Dec 2015. The Evaporator Coil developed a leak in June of 2022. Carrier stood by their 10 yr warranty and provided the replacement coil and I had to pay my HVAC guy the labor/freon to install. Aug of 2023 it happened again - Carrier provided a replacement coil for free - I pay my HVAC guy again.
I opened a Case Number on Dec 13, 2023, asking if they had a known issue with evaporator coils or was my case rare? They were not aware of any widespread defects, so I asked if they would consider monetary compensation for all or part of my HVAC labor expenses for the Aug 2023 occurrence? I followed up 12/20/23 and 01/03/24, they indicated it has been escalated up to the DSMs (Department Service Managers). On my 1/17/24 follow up with a Senior Advisor - I wasn't angry or derogatory towards her, and I simply asked her to tell the DSMs that the Customer wants a simple Yes or No answer to my request. Now IF the answer is Yes, what will the percentage of compensation be? Sadly, I wanted to get this Review submitted today so that when I reach out to Carrier for the 5TH time for an answer, I can show them this review. I will Update you after my next call.

Updated on 4/1/2024: We purchased a new Carrier heat pump, furnace and wifi thermostat from Carrier for a total of $25,000. 5 months in the heat pump stops working, several calls to the dealer and 3 months later no one comes out to look at it. Frustrated I call another Carrier dealer and they tell me they can't look at it unless I pay. They tell me they cannot honor the warranty because another dealer installed it. I call Carrier, they tell me, "That's not right. We are going to escalate the issue and get me resolve." Over a week goes by and Carrier emails me telling sorry, they can't really help me but here is $250 towards repairing it. Not even 5 months old and that's it, I'm on my own. Never Carrier again, and I have been spreading the word everywhere I can and will continue to do so, one person already ordered a Trane because of my situation.
Original review: Because of the rebate we decided to go with a heat pump, company recommended Carrier. It worked great for a few months but as soon as it got cold something went wrong with the compressor. I started getting notifications by email from Carrier. Luckily it switched over the regular furnace. I contacted the dealer and they told me they can't be repaired until it's around plus 10 Celsius. Kind of defeats the purpose of saving money in the winter. What about homes that just have a heat pump? I don't get it.

I paid over 11K for what I thought was a top of the line, reputable, heat pump with a ten year warranty on parts. At about 28 months after installation, in September, I noticed that the ac didn’t seem to be blowing cold air like it had previously. A month or so later, a tech was required to come out and tell me that the refrigerant was low. He recharged the system, and dye was added at a later visit. Even though the company that did the installation, D & A Heating and Air, gave me a deal on the gas and the dye, it sure seemed expensive to me.
After it stopped blowing warm air in December, a tech came out, for free, and found the leak. Of course it is a part not covered! So my out of pocket expenses to keep this Carrier unit running for the first 2 1/2 years is about $2000 in parts and labor! Almost 20% of the cost for the entire system and installation, I have to fork out. I thought I was buying a reliable top of the line system. What I purchased is seemingly a money pit! I will be relating my experiences to anyone that wants to listen. Apparently Carrier no longer makes reliable systems. I should have spent a little more money and purchased a Lennox or Trane.

Installed an HVAC system in 2015. Has 3 zones and has some expensive repairs, but the most irritating thing is remote access. We have a WiFi thermostat to access remotely. It has worked well for 7 years, but it is unable to connect to our new router even though it technically should since it is backwards compatible. $500 for a new thermostat just to get it to work with the most basic WiFi capable. So my new router is $300 and all 30+ devices connected no problem, but the Carrier thermostat won’t connect at all. Technical support claimed that it just wasn’t designed to handle the modern speeds of the networks and wifi. Carrier may build advanced HVAC systems, but they are clearly out of their league when it comes to modern-day IOT technology. Extremely poor technical design, IMHO.

In the 5 years since, I've experienced 4 catastrophic parts failures shutting the system down for 3-4 days each time. Twice the compressor board has failed and twice the refrigerant regulator valve in the air handler has failed. Both times were replaced under Carrier's "Warranty", but that only covers parts. Have spent thousands of dollars in labor and hotel bills as a result of these defects. The most recent failure was on Oct 21st, where again the valve replaced a year ago failed for a second time. All Carrier has offered is a lousy $250 gift card to use on parts for their crappy machines that should already be covered by their warranty. I would never recommend Carrier. They make junk. I had a Carrier 4 Zone Ductless Split HVAC system installed at my condo in November 2018. Due to significant issues experienced since its installation with the design, control performance, and overall quality of your Ductless Split system, I’ve come to regret purchasing this Carrier product. Issue #1 – Poor Temperature Control Capability. The first issue began in late 2019 when two of the smaller Indoor Units could not maintain a desired set temperature and continued to pump heat into the room well past the set temperature. Temperatures would continue to climb and stop only if the unit was turned off. The bedrooms effectively became unusable until a solution was found.
After months of discussion, the unit was re-programmed to only operate in “Follow Me” mode and shut off the blower completely when the set temperature was reached. The program “bandaid” did solve the overheating problem but since the unit can now be used only in “Follow Me” mode, I have lost advertised functionality that I paid for. The most disappointing thing about Issue #1 is that achieving and maintaining room temperature is the primary objective of a residential system and the system, as sold to me, could not do it as designed.
Issue #2 – Blower Noise. After installation, all four Indoor Units were “whisper” quiet when running. Within a short period of time, the unit in our Master Bedroom began making a noticeable “ticking” noise whenever the blower was running. As the unit is adjacent to the head of our bed, the noise was irritating enough to make getting to sleep very difficult. Many nights we would simply just shut the unit off to get to sleep and deal with uncomfortable room temperatures. Now, the blower in our main downstairs living area is also making noise. My conclusion can only be that the quality or quality control of the blowers used is unacceptable for the application.
Issue #3 – Outside Unit Control Design. Up until now, I was disappointed, but this most recent issue has pushed me well beyond just disappointment with Carrier. Recently, we returned to our condo to find that the outside unit would not run. On inspection, it was found that a mouse had entered the control section of the outside unit and did over $2300 damage to the outside unit control electronics. Both fan motors, the motor driver board, and IPM board had to be replaced. My issues with this are two-fold.
First, the components used are very light duty. The control boards and wiring are such that you would find in a desktop PC versus a commercial piece of equipment designed to live outdoors amongst nature. Even my service tech commented on how light duty the wiring and components are in this unit as compared to others AC or heat pump units he typically works on.
Second, it appears that no attempts were made within the design to prevent rodents or even severe weather from entering the control section of the outdoor unit. It would seem to be a logical design specification to enclose these delicate electronics and wiring in an enclosure with wiring entering/exiting through grommets or strain reliefs to at least try to keep weather and critters out.
Final Comments. I’ve owned Carrier products in the past and, in general, have never had a reason to complain until now. Before I started experiencing these issues, I recommended Carrier mini-splits to my neighbors. Now Some of my neighbors’ have purchased Carrier based on my recommendation and, now after all the problems with my system, I feel guilty for having done so. I certainly will not recommend Carrier again. Carrier is one of the biggest names in the business and one that I have always had good experience with, I felt certain that Carrier would not put product out before it was ready for market. I was wrong!

My recent experience with Carrier Corporation has taught me to NEVER DO BUSINESS with Carrier Corp again and sound the alarms to others about this less than reputable company. Over the past few months, I have worked to get Carrier Corporation to complete a root cause analysis of premature failing compressor. I have made over 20 phone calls, I have written letters, I have written emails and written a chronology of events. During this time, Carrier Customer Service has been COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Simply put, Carrier Corp has a policy that states CUSTOMERS DO NOT MATTER!!! Over the past seven years, our Carrier (Bryant) compressor has prematurely failed THREE times requiring replacement. This averages out to replacing our compressor on average every two years for the SAME Carrier HVAC unit.
Given the recurring compressor failures, Carrier INITIALLY agreed to do a root cause analysis of the heating & air system to determine the root cause. Given the circumstances of this case, doing a root cause analysis is a reasonable and prudent thing to do. Per Carrier’s request, my heating and air conditioning contractor, Total Comfort, gathered the requested data and submitted it to Carrier online on or about October 17, 2022. This data was necessary for Carrier Corporation to complete their root cause analysis. On November 2, 2022, Carrier requested Total Comfort to gather additional data in order for Carrier to complete their root cause analysis. Except this time, Carrier demanded that Total Comfort cover the costs associated with gathering the additional data for the root cause analysis.
On December 6, 2022, Regina **, Carrier Corporation, Consumer Liaison Executive Offices, told me that the customer is responsible for the paying for the service call to gather the additional data. From my perspective, this is a convenient way for Carrier to shift the burden of responsibility to customer. The reality is there is likely something wrong with my Carrier Heating & Air Conditioning Unit, which the root cause analysis will likely reveal. Carrier will then be liable to potentially fixing the underlying root cause. To avoid liability, Carrier elected to kill the root cause analysis.

The north system strips failed soon after and were replaced. Back to the south system. The inverter in the outside condenser failed and was replaced. All failures in the north system were within the first 14 months. Now to the north system. About 3.5 weeks ago the A/C would not hold setpoint and a technician was called in. He reported low freon and failure of the evaporator. Upon replacement of the evaporator the tech found that the system would not communicate so he replaced the comm board.
Upon communication the system would not start and it was determined that the inverter was bad. So the inverter was replaced, the system was tested with nitrogen and the freon was replaced. Startup looked good. One day later the system refused to hold setpoint and it was determined that the condenser was bad and needed to be replaced. Now the compressor is out on one unit...repair estimate (labor only) was $2000; and blower and motherboard out on 2nd unit estimate of $800 plus parts. In my opinion, both units are defective if they only work 2 seasons on a 10-year warranty. Home Depot, ARS, and Carrier are all saying it is my responsibility to fix these units which are defective.
I spent $16,000 for the two units and do not want to put more good money into bad/defective products. Carrier says if the distributor comes out and declares them defective, they will replace for me, but ARS keeps putting off getting the distributor here. Complete runaround. And Home Depot says I did not purchase an extended warranty from them, so they have no responsibility...total runaround. I went through HD so I would have recourse in the event of inferior workmanship or product. All 3 companies are bad to me, but especially Carriers...bad product!!

My builder installed a Carrier 3.5 ton 18 SEER AC system. The coil began leaking at 39 months. Since the labor is only covered for 24 months I'm faced with an $1,800 bill for just the labor to replace the defective coil. When I contacted Carrier their comment was "yeah, that's a shame." I'm stuck with this unit now but given a choice in the future it will be a Trane or Lennox but certainly never a Carrier again! It's now a very poorly built product in my opinion and their attitude is awful.

Recently purchased a new Carrier Infinity heat pump, coil, and furnace with their newest thermostat SYSTXCCITCO1-B with smart zone stat as well. The Infinity line name should be changed to Inferior, as they are so far behind the times, they advertise Home Comfort but don't even have a fan option for auto circulate or Minimum fan run time. This feature helps evens out hot and cold spots, uses the filtration or UV system more effectively, and keeps energy usage from going through the roof. Try talking to customer service about the issue or maybe a possible update and they will just hang up on you. If could go back in time would definitely choose another Manufacturer.

On Dec 29, 2021, I had a Carrier Comfort 2.5 ton 14 Seers heatpump and air handler split system installed. It replaced a very efficient old Trane split system that was just too old and had broken down. The new Carrier heatpump has been nothing but a problem. On heat mode and auto fan it blows cold and ambient air through the registers and is constantly running. It kicks in auxiliary heat in the air handler often cause the heatpump is unable to provide enough hot air by itself to even warm the house and I live in Florida!. I expect my electric bill to go up by $300.00 more a month with this American engineered and built crap. The ac company and installers said this is normal for a Carrier comfort heatpump constantly blowing ambient air in heat mode and constantly running and hardly ever shutting off.
Tried calling Carrier to tell them the problem and they referred me back to the ac company. My foreign made Trane heatpump heated the house well before it broke down after 20 years of use. Heard that an American company bought Trane and the new Trane heatpumps being built are also crap. So, that is why I went with Carrier. Next time, I will buy a Bosch heatpump cause American products are poorly engineered and manufactured with planned absolescence, inefficient, not dependable or reliable.... CARRIER comfort American piece of crap.

Please be aware when purchasing a Home and check for the AC Warranty. The installers are lazy and won't register your unit and even if you register yourself when installing a new unit, make sure you complete the paperwork for the extended 10 yr. warranty. The normal warranty is only 5 yrs. In my case, I found out after purchasing the house, that my unit's warranty ran out within 5 yrs from install and am SOL as far as getting anywhere with Carrier, even though the receipt from the company that installed for the previous home owner says 10 yr. warranty.
The Customer Service folks tell you that the 5 yr. warranty is up and nothing more. What I find more crazy is that the 10 yr. warranty is for the person who bought the unit and does not transfer. Generally people move within 5-7 yrs. This is a scam! Please do yourself a favor and shop around for other companies that have better products and good customer care solutions. I will never install any Carrier Products ever in my house.

We had our system installed summer 2014. Our home had two units. The Carrier unit is for the upstairs. In February of 2014 the system wasn’t working. My husband was in the hospital so I just paid the air conditioning serviceman to fix the unit. Every year there has been some issue with the system not working correctly. I’m not talking about it needing coolant or whatever- I’m talking basic functioning. It crapped out altogether this past month. We found out the fan and ECU need to be replaced. Surprise surprise it’s not covered under the 5 year warranty. Ask yourself why the company only covers the product for 5 years. Oh, you can extend the warranty when you buy the product in the first 90 days. You have to pay I’m sure.
Read the reviews. Carrier is HORRIBLE for residential. Their excuse is that older systems last longer. Explain that to me. There is no excuse for poor quality and poor customer service as far as standing by your product. I only wish I had come to look at the reviews prior to purchasing the system. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

The issue was not solved, and now they want to sell me another HVAC system more powerful. They will not give me any discount for the product that I just bought and have less than 2 months of usage. Honestly, it is a joke, they want to sell more and more equipment without caring about customer satisfaction. Very disappointed with Carrier.

The Carrier/Bryant air handler for a heat pump has a plastic pan inside the unit to catch condensation. The plastic pan material is of poor quality for the environmental temperature swings that it should have been designed in which to operate. After only 2.5 years, the pan cracked in July, water soaked the air handler insulation, and caused the ductwork to drip condensation on to the attic insulation and ruin the ceiling below the unit. The secondary protection pan under the air handler caught the water that dripped from the air handler but there was no protection for the plenum and ductwork which was collecting a vast amount of moisture from the soaked air handler. This is where the ceiling damaged occurred. Florida summers are hot and humid so the unit will produce a lot of condensation and a broken pan causes a lot of damage and high repair cost.
The unit was under warranty so the replacement pan is free but the labor takes 4 hours to remove the coils, replace the pan, and replace the internal insulation in the unit. The internal insulation is not covered by the warranty so that is an extra cost. So there is about $700 of labor and insulation cost to replace a pan under warranty. Plus I need to repair my ceiling where the leak occurred.
I suggest that Carrier should recall these pans and replace them with pans made of higher quality material. Perhaps made with plastic that is thicker, more flexible, and can withstand extreme heat and cold temperature swings. The pan is located next to the coil so when the heat pump is operating, the pan gets hot and obviously brittle. Also units should be designed so that parts can be quickly replaced. That seems to be a lost art. I have done some research and found that Lennox has a thicker more flexible pan that doesn't crack under normal use of the A/C and heat pump operation.

We had Carrier dealers come to check and perform maintenance many times but no help. They said the a/c is fine but might be inside programming problem or controller problem which they can't fix and ask us to contact Carrier.
Every time when we called Carrier, we were told to go to local dealers but local Carrier dealer asks us to go to Carrier. We are trying to find out if Carrier can have someone who can run a thorough diagnosis to figure out what is going on but don't know who we can approach. The a/c problem we noticed is a/c doesn't run enough time and stop (sometimes just 1 minutes) even it is far away from the temperature we set on controller (we set to 76, room temperature on controller is 84) then the a/c waits for a long time to restart then doesn't run enough time and stop again. In October, 2020, National Heating & Air Conditioning installed a Carrier brand ductless heat pump/mini-split system in our home, including 1 heat pump, 3 heads, and 3 hand-held remote controls for $6,992.00. We were told it would offer us “zone control.” and to “set it and forget it.” Within a month of installation, the system was malfunctioning; all heads produced heat any time one head called for heat meaning, no zone control. After both the technician and Rick **, the “Comfort Consultant” from National confirmed the unit was not operating properly, they suggested we would need wall mounted thermostats installed to fix the problem.
We wanted the system to work as we were told it would work, and the way the Owner's Manual detailed it should work, with the remotes that came with the system. We opened a claim/complaint with Carrier believing they would stand behind their product and their advertising and get our system working as we were told it would work and as it was advertised to work. Rick and Len **, the Carrier Service Tech Mgr. began immediately began contradicting themselves by suddenly saying the system was working “exactly as it is engineered to work” while simultaneously saying the only solution to the “problem” was “wall-mounted thermostats” that they would “not charge us to ‘buy’ or have installed.”
Len actually said if they did not find anything wrong with our system (this was AFTER it was confirmed it was not operating properly), I was "not going to like to hear that the 'solution to the problem' was going to be wall mounted thermostats." Please note: If there is no problem with the system, then why would the only "solution" be to install wall mounted thermostats to address the problem that had already been identified of no zone control? After 5 months of gas-lighting and giving us the runaround, we requested they “repair, replace or remove the defective system and refund us.” They chose the latter—and this was AFTER Rick gave us his word that he’d “do whatever it took to get the system working properly.”
On the day of removal, they tried to have us sign a customer satisfaction guarantee that was not given to us on the day of installation that said if we were not 100% satisfied with the system, they would remove it. When we suggested they should have given us that agreement to sign the day of installation, we were met with more gaslighting, telling us the reason for that was because they were "not doing paperwork during COVID."
NOTE: They had no problem doing the paperwork on the day of installation for receipt of payment for the system, and giving us the owner’s manual that told us exactly how the system should work. We now have a DAIKIN brand ductless heat-pump with 1 heat pump, 3 heads, 3 hand-held remotes, flawless zone control, bypass heat that is redirected to the head calling for heat, and exceptional customer service from another local Heating & Air Conditioning provider, who has received the “Best of The Best” award several years in a row, for obvious reasons! Daikin offers a far superior warranty on BOTH parts AND labor—twelve years on both! Every extra penny we spent has been worth the difference to have a properly operating system and to have prompt response time to all forms of communication. Carrier spends a lot of money on advertising, but that does not mean their product is superior. I would not recommend it.

We purchased a new Carrier Infinity 18 SEER HE system in April 2018 ($12,300). The system was for the downstairs of a 3200 square foot home and installed in a crawlspace. At the time of installation, there had never been any "moisture" issues in the crawlspace for the 20 year life of the home, not with the original owners, not with two home inspections, and not with our experience with the previous HVAC system that had been in place for fifteen years, in fact the crawlspace had always been very dry. Once we installed the Carrier Infinity system, we began to notice problems with keeping the humidity levels in our home at a reasonable level, we were seeing 65-76 percent readings on a regular basis.
We reached out to the Carrier dealer and they told us we needed to replace all of the ductwork underneath the house. We moved forward and did as was suggested ($4600) in August of 2019. A few weeks after the ductwork install, we switched to heat pump and "thought" the problem was resolved as humidity levels in the winter stayed around 45% inside the home during the winter when the heat pump was being used and there was no use of the AC. Fast forward to summer 2020. We started using the AC again in April and by July 2020 the beautiful hardwoods in our home began to buckle and we began to see incredible amounts of moisture building in our walls.
Our light switches actually began to buckle from the moisture, and if you took one off the wall, the moisture was enough to drip onto the floor. We have pictures of all of this. Moisture readings were back to 68 to 78 percent and 83% in the crawlspace. Through word of mouth and social media, we found several other families who were experiencing the exact same issue in our county alone, their homes, walls, and floors also being slowly destroyed by intense moisture after installation of the Carrier Infinity 18 seer system. We were in contact with the Carrier dealer throughout. Unfortunately, the dealer had a massive fire that destroyed all of their records and they had to rebuild, so there are no records of our original install other than the paperwork we have.
After their rebuild that delayed our interaction, the dealer came again to our home and rewired our system to use only two drive phases instead of the designed five. This did not bring the moisture levels down. We were told several times there was a moisture problem in our crawlspace and that was causing our issues. We worked with our homeowners insurance agent and he sent a home inspection/moisture specialist who determined there was no runoff or water issue in our crawlspace and suggested the problem may be the installation of the super efficient Carrier system in 2018. The dealer returned again in September 2020 and replaced the ductwork again, suggesting that the duct boots were not installed correctly in the first ductwork replacement in 2019.
This also did not address the intense humidity issue, with readings in our crawlspace reaching 83% moisture in certain areas. Inside the home we could not maintain anything under 68% humidity. The dealer then brought a large dehumidifier in late October 2020 that has been running all winter. With the AC off, the basement has dried out with use of the heat pump and zero use of the AC all winter. We will be installing the optional integrated Carrier dehumidifier next and will see if that addresses the issue when we switch back to AC, somewhere in early April.
After hearing from all the other families that have experienced the exact same intense humidity and moisture damage in their homes after installing the Carrier Infinity 18 seer system, we are not confident that we will see any difference. We are out almost $18K, we have a practically new HVAC system that is slowly destroying our home, we will need to replace all of our floors and subfloors, and we are praying that our wiring has not corroded. Carrier was called to one of the other families' homes and told them what we were told, that they had a "moisture" problem and that it was not the system.
Carrier KNOWS this is an issue, the dealers KNOW this is an issue, but Carrier refuses to address it. We are writing this review to bring awareness. Consumer BEWARE. Carrier NEEDS to address this and figure out what's causing this 18 seer 5 phase system to destroy certain homes. We hope this honest review keeps others aware of what can happen with a Carrier Infinity 18 seer system and keeps others from living the nightmare we have since the installation of this system.

Well, fast forward 11 years (to 2020). The Carrier central air conditioner's condenser apparently went out. The company who installed it (In 2009) came out to diagnose a grinding sound I heard coming from the unit. Guess what?! Yep, you guessed it! My entire central air conditioner would need replaced due to the condenser failing!
I know a couple family members who've had their central air conditioners for over 30 years, and they're still in working order. If this "new" efficient HVAC equipment can't hold up for at least 20 years, doesn't that outweigh any efficiency improvements you got out of them?! In my opinion, not only are you out of an expensive unit, but for environmental purposes- it would be better to have a less efficient system last 30 years than a more efficient system last 10! Why? Because the materials to make it end up in a landfill 3 times sooner than the old style air conditioners!
If I had known this Carrier AC would have only lasted 11 years, I would have went with a less expensive brand! What's the point paying nearly twice as much, potentially, only to have your unit completely fail 10-11 years later! PS: I recently went out and bought a new window AC. I couldn't afford to spring for a new central AC, nor had any desire after that experience!

The only con and the reason for the 3 stars is for the high noise DB this new heat pump puts out, a very low rumble hum and you can hear everywhere in the house. You cannot hear it outside, cannot even hear it while standing next to it on the roof, but it's there. Must be a vibration going through the unit, through the metal frame, through the roof.
Now I am extremely happy the way the New Carrier Heat pump works, but I hate the low high DB rumble sound. The HVAC Guy from Qual Tech claims it's the compressor. Two major components of our Infinity 16 AC unit have been replaced: indoor and outdoor coils - both were leaking after just 3 years! When we called Carrier to express our discontent with the product and that we have to spend $2,000 out of pocket for service on the unit + 8 weeks of waiting for parts to arrive and to diagnose the issue (in the middle of summer), they refuse to offset our personal expenses on their faulty equipment.
The customer service rep repeatedly said the parts are under warranty. Personally, I've never seen an AC fail after 3 years due to faulty equipment. I told them it was an ethical issue to produce flawed equipment that fails after 3 years and she assured me that wasn't the case. I told her they need to cover some expenses and she kept referring me to tech support for the AC repair company. I said, that doesn't resolve what I'm asking for (some sort of compensation for our trouble). She didn't want to help out by offering to escalate my case to a higher level, even when I asked.
However, I'm not budging. As a customer, I have addressed the complaint in a formal manner. I have expressed discontent with the 8 weeks to get the parts fixed (since it was two parts, that required additional service and installation and waiting for parts to come in - from the dealer to the repair company) and spending out of pocket excess money to fix the unit. I asked her at least to compensate us because it is very expensive and outside of paying for the new unit 3 years ago, we're adding another $2,000 to the product. It is not right. They need to at least cover some of our expenses or design a better product that won't leak (both coils). We are extremely disappointed. We wondered if others had the same issues. It's efficient and cheaper to operate than the new Ruud gas system in my old condo. The heat is so warm. It's not anything like the old heat pumps that seemed to throw cool air for heat. My old condo and my house are about the same size. Both are on slabs. My heating/cooling bills at the house are half of the condo's. What a blessing. Thank you Carrier!!

I've been told, time and again, that HVAC units can last and should last to at least 10 years, but have the capacity to last up to 15yrs. Why is it, then, that NO Carrier HVAC unit we've had installed by local business Central Air, in Texarkana,Tx, had lasted more than 10yrs? The most recent unit was purchased, new, in 2013. Whereas I never see any neighbors have HVAC companies coming to do maintenance checks on their units, and this household has always paid to have them done... what is the deal with ours not lasting as long!! I use my HVAC very frugally, doing my best to keept the temp set at 78 in the Texas summer months, and also heater wise, I keep my home CHILLY in winter. I layer up my clothes no matter if I'm dressed, or if I'm in my pajamas! I layer my nightgowns wearing two of them at a time, and oft times wear my robe, and perhaps even throw on one of my athletic style jackets over it!
So... I mentioned my CARRIER brand HVAC --not-- lasting?? Last year--July 2019... the compressor in my Carrier blew out!! What in tarnation! I do learn that it's covered by warranty, but that does NOT mean that the additional parts required, nor the labor required, nor the refrigerant which was lost= NONE of those... ABSOLUTELY NONE of those things were covered. What in the heck---is CARRIER in cahoots with its dealer??? I was still out over $600usd per having to have the compressor replaced!! And good grief, it would have been astronomical to have had to pay for a new compressor too!!
I suspect that Carrier must think, oh goodness the customer will be so relieved that we covered the cost of the new compressor, that they'll simply not be aggrieved by the output of cash still necessitated by the situation!! I am still upset to this point in time, to have had to pay for more refrigerant!! To have had to pay for the labor. To have had to pay for the extra parts ruined by the compressor blowing!! Does CARRIER --NOT use quality compressors! All I can figure is that they rely on planned obsolescence to survive! But they forget, once BITTEN, TWICE SHY!!! My future will be cooled by another brand!!
I am looking into Trane, and others!! CARRIER can NOT be relied upon, per my experience, and-----per my estimation. I recently did an engine search on the Carrier brand and is stated in black and white that Carrier IS essentially UNRELIABLE! Oh, and to add the CHERRY on TOP of the HVAC SUNDAE... my capacitor broke in May of 2020!! I pitched a fit, and it wound up that the HVAC tech got permission to replace my capacitor at no cost, free of charge, to me. Darn tootin! That action, and gesture, though appreciated is no salve for the financial wound caused me, by Carrier's choice of compressors they place into their units!
Does CARRIER NOT comprehend that $6000USD for a HVAC UNIT is expensive enough? CAN they NOT take things A step further by building QUALITY PRODUCTS! They are perpetrating an epic fail by resting on the laurels of their good name! I donn't mind being vocal, via social media, as NECESSITATED/REQUIRED/NEEDED!! I'd already expressed some displeasure via a public cheers and jeers group on Facebook, but really-- I bit my tongue, because much mreo can be said!! Listen up CARRIER!! I'LL be RIDING the TRANE TRAIN, the NEXT TIME I need a NEW HVAC SYSTEM!!

I was told by the tech that they had to replace these evaporator coils after one year! Even with the parts covered the labor is cost prohibitive.
If these systems cannot be maintained even with regular maintenance, which was also expensive, then they must be defective! My heating and cooling bills were also huge and the thermostat had constant problems - going out, or not registering the correct temperature. Well six years have passed and we have not had one complete heating season with the new furnace without it failing. It has been a continuum of hard lockouts with no heat in the dead of winter.
Over the course of the six years we have paid for the cost of the furnace with service call fees replacement parts to include a new oil tank which they said was a possible cause of the furnace malfunctioning which to this date have not resolved the problems. Carrier has been absolutely useless in trying to fix this problem in a timely manner and kept telling the furnace people to try this and try that - all at my expense.
As a company who provides consumer products as important as a furnace one would think they would be more responsive to the issue but all they have done is stonewall me at every step and meanwhile I still have a faulty furnace that they will not fix or replace. Installers were there until 10:30pm, and said that it wasn't working correctly. They said they would come back Monday.
Install: Day 4 (Monday): Installer tried again but couldn't get things going. Said he spent 2 hours on phone with Carrier support. He said part needed and he'd return next day. That night we found water dripping in our closet due to drain pan under attic air handler overflowing. Drain pipe not working and float cutoff switch not working. Called night number and were told it would be 10pm, so we said come first thing in the morning Tuesday. Install: Day 5 (Tuesday) Installer came at 3pm. Said part not arrived yet, but got drain pan working.
Install: Day 6 (Wednesday) Got call from dealer service department wanting to know what day the next week they could install part. I said that was unacceptable because we would not be here. After 2 calls they agree to send someone next day "first thing". Install: Day 7 (Thursday) Installer came at 10am, and after what he said were hours on the phone with Carrier support they were going to install new units. The only ones available were smaller but "would be fine". (I'm wondering why they recommended the larger, more expensive ones in the first place.)
Install: Day 8 (Friday) Installer arrives at 1pm with new units. As I write this they are installing the new units, so I decided to download the Infinity app and get ready for remote access that we've enjoyed for years with Nest. I got the app downloaded and started to register. My screen (mobile and computer) says Carrier server is down, try later. I called support and they said server has been down 11 days, and they do not have an estimated time for it to be operational. Support is open Monday-Friday, so I asked them if I must be at the thermostat to connect it to my phone. They confirm that, so because I must leave Sunday to go home I will not be able to setup remote access. I will not be able to remotely see what the temp is so I won't know if the units are working.
If they don't at least get the units working correctly today I plan to have them removed and replaced with Trane units. Please notice that I have attempted to be factual and not be emotional or let my anger, frustration, and home temperature (it's over 90 degrees again today) show through. I only write this to let prospective buyers know to think twice before selecting Carrier.

This company is awful. Their server is always down and we are unable to access our unit remotely to make sure it is working properly. It is impossible to get an answer on the phone and they will not let you speak to a manager. I wish I had known this in advance as then I would have never used Carrier. Stay away.

I access the temperature controls with my one year old Infinity 2 stage unit from a different bedroom in the house from where the control panel is located. So if I need to change the temperature, I have to walk down the hall, up the stairs, etc. Not what I expected when I purchased the the Infinity Touch Control with Wireless Access control. The wifi access to control the temperature remotely is down quite often. I can't even access the web version because the server is constantly down as well. There is always an excuse when I call and a promise that it will be back up soon. This is completely unacceptable. Had I known Carrier constantly has these issues, I would not have purchased a Carrier unit that can't support it's own wireless or web access. The company needs to step up and permanently fix these issues.

We have 2 Carrier AC units in our home. Installed brand new on new home in 2016 and there have been over $3,000 in labor and shipping costs to repair the units. They even charged us shipping for a replacement part that was dead on arrival and we had to pay shipping costs and labor costs again for the repairman to come out again with another part. That was a little over a month ago and now the same part needs replacing again!!! Never buy this brand ever again. They’re selling junk and then charge you shipping to replace parts under warranty but you’re stuck paying the labor. They must know they are selling defective parts and systems. Why would we have needed to replace the air handler parts 3 times in 3 years?

I bought a Carrier Mini Split Air Conditioner Model:40MHHC12 in 2018. After 1 season of use, it stopped producing cold air. A major component had failed (condenser coil)! The installer (ARS in Florida) refused to help, saying the unit must be maintenanced twice a year to stay under warranty for labor (brand new!). Carrier declined to comment about their unit failing after 1 year, or consider replacing the unit. The parts were under warranty, but the labor would cost almost $1000.00. Carrier said they would send a representative out to the installer company to review the issue, but after a month of me trying to find out the status of the issue, they finally just told me that there was nothing they would do. I would not recommend this company for air conditioners. High priced products with lousy quality.

I was under the impression that Carrier A/C units were top of the line so was happy to see a Carrier Unit used in our new house. It was installed in June of 2017, we moved into the house on December 15th, 2017, We used the A/C unit one season in 2018. This spring during the annual maintenance service of the A/C system it was discovered the EVAPORATOR COIL & FILTER DRYER needed replacing: $867.00. When trying to recharge the COMPRESSOR it wasn't holding a charge therefore not cooling the house. The COMPRESSOR also needs to be replaced for a cost of $1,521.00. Yes the parts are under warranty but the labor to fix the problem totals, $2388. This is unacceptable for a product to go bad in such a short time, I for one could NOT RECOMMEND Carrier Air Conditioners or any other of their products.

Despite the inverter unit being sold to me as a cost saver, this is clearly not the case. The circuit boards are poor quality and do not last 5 years. Replacement boards cost the price of a new regular air conditioner. No-one advises you that you need to perform rust prevention, this prevention, that prevention when you have it installed, but when it goes wrong they are sure to let you know. I will never again waste my hard earned money on a Carrier aircon, nor an inverter unit. A regular, modern unit consumes roughly the same power as an average fridge/freezer. The cost to maintain an inverter unit is ridiculous.

I built a new home within early 2012 in South Carolina and installed three 2 ton Carrier heat pump systems and one 3 ton system. (4 systems in all) In 2015 the first copper coil developed a leak due to formicary corrosion (supposedly a reaction with my foam insulation) and the other 3 all followed by mid 2017 and were replaced by aluminum coils. (Warranty) Supposedly the aluminum would not react with the foam insulation. However, an aluminum coil installed in 2016 has now failed/leaked due to the same issue.
The aluminum coils are only warranted for one year so now I am faced with replacing the whole air handler in order to get a 10 year warranty since replacing the coil costs almost the same amount with only a one year warranty. I understand the same issue is rampant in the industry so I do not understand how any company can survive by providing a product they know is destined for early failure. I have heard that tin plating solves the issue but I also heard that aluminum solved the issue. Obviously, I am disgusted with Carrier but do not know how to force them to upfront with the issue and take care of their customers.

Stay away from Carrier as they have really bad customer service. They don't keep replacement parts in stock locally and they are located in New York which is really far from Florida which is where I live. My unit needs a part replaced and they don't have it in stock either locally or in New York and they do not know when they will have it in stock. I live in Florida where you cannot be without air conditioner. Their 10 year warranty is non-existent as they will charge you for shipping the part and if you want to expedite it for next day they will charge you even more. Now how is it my fault that the part is not available locally. What kind of service are you giving your customers if you are selling a product that you do not have parts for.

I cannot explain in writing on how disappointed we are with this brand! We bought a brand new home with two Carrier Systems with a 5 year warranty. Parts and Labor only up to a year, parts only from year 2 to 5. Shortly after our 1 year ownership, the capacitor failed and it cost $229 in labor to replace under warranty. In Year 2 on the other unit, we replaced the motor on the blower for $503.00. In year 3 on this same unit we replaced the compressor, TXV valve and the module on the motor for the same blower for $1,150.00. Yup that's right, $1,882.00 on labor to replace warranty parts on these systems! Enough said! Drop the mic! Garbage! Will never buy another Carrier again.

Don’t waste your money on Carrier Heat Pumps. We purchased two new units 2 years ago and have had more problems than we ever did with the 25 year old units. We have literally had major issues at least 6 times a year and many times the same problems over and over again. Motors going out, circuits burning out, the list goes on. When the warranty is up there will be two very expensive piles of junk sitting alongside our house. Apparently the blower motors are the issue but they are not addressing where they are getting the blower motors.

I bought a Carrier heating and cooling system back in 2010. Had a problem with the condenser freezing up when the weather got cold. Happened several times but was rectified. This year the heat went out. Had the same symptom. The company I bought the Carrier from was no longer in business so called another one that was a Carrier certified. They condemned the unit. Heat exchanger was burnt. These typically should last for 15 years. Only lasted eight and a half years. Getting Carrier will replace the part but the problem is the installation is very expensive. It's like buying an expensive car. All the parts are very expensive and they charge a fortune to install it. Don't be comforted by the warranty. It's worth very little.

Saved to purchase new heat and AC. Bought July 2018. So excited...finally not having to call and have our old heater fixed regularly (GOODMAN). At first it was so quiet, then one month later it is noisier. Okay we're fine with it just nice to have air. Now our troubles begin...HEAT. When we put the heat on for the first time, you have a smell, normal, especially after sitting for a few months, not in use. Our rec. room is downstairs as well is our office. We can smell a chemical/chlorine, gassy smell. Way ahead of you. Called gas company, called installer and checked my monoxide detector. NOTHING. No leaks, they found no odor. Everything is running top notch and fine. Okay, now. We sound crazy but at night, there is a smell of gassy, chlorine, chemical.
I looked online to see if others had this problem and they do... I called Carrier and they offered no solution or tell us what it may be. It is Jan. 24th 2019 and I am typing this review with a smell of gas, chlorine in the air. I feel sick to my stomach and have a headache. We get a sleepy feeling when we shouldn't be tired. We are extremely MAD that this is happening. We have monoxide, gas detectors on all floors, one right next to the unit. We checked this so often, we have a new hobby. Sickening... I wish we never bought this and I wanted my old Goodman back.

I think they make a lot of money selling Carrier AC products. Dell told me my part was covered. I just have to pay for labor. Well the control module took me I think 10 minutes to change and Dell charged me 221.00 dollars plus a 79.00 dollar service fee. That aint bad for a ride down from Melbourne Florida to Sebastian and spend maybe an hour total. I will never buy Carrier or deal with DELL AIR again.

I had a Carrier reverse cycle ducted aircon installed when I built my home on 2006. Right from the start I had problems with the unit. The wrong control panel was supplied and installed and had continuous problems with turning it on. Carrier came out numerous times and kept replacing with the same model control panel. One of the many technicians who came out told me that it was a cheaper control panel that was used for the evaporative units. Eventually I turned to the ministry of fair trading who then sorted out the problem. Over the years I have had continuing problems with it and have spents over $2000 having it repaired. It has now broken down again and have been told I’m looking at the minimum of $2800 to have it repaired once again. Based on my experience I would never have a Carrier installed again.

My inducer has bad bearings, sounds like a 747 in my home when the furnace fires up. In addition, the evaporator is completely rusted. I have a seven year old system, and the builder did not register the system at install. I contacted Carrier and they basically told me to go fly a kite, even though they say they would have warranted their product had it been registered. The outside compressor is badly weathered, paint is peeling, rusted. The install guy said that although it has a Carrier brand on the outside, they took another system and merely added the Carrier logo to it. So after seven years I'm looking at a replacement of the system. Guess what, it won't be a Carrier.

Had a new Carrier system (AC 24ACB3 & Furnace 59SP5) installed in our home June 2017. After install, we were very disappointed to find that our brand new furnace and AC unit were noisier than our old ones (not sure about energy efficiency yet but it seems that the new Carrier unit runs longer and more often than the old replaced unit). Back to the noise issues: We had Expert Heating & Cooling come back to our house a handful of times to try to determine and fix the excessive noises that were being sent throughout the home. #1. They replaced a portion of the factory AC line with a suction line at the unit. This new line is an eyesore and looks ugly. It did however quiet it down quite a bit (if we had not complained we would've been stuck with the excessively loud noise - now we have an ugly tube at the AC unit).
Our old unit was quiet and not an eyesore #2. The new Carrier thermostat made a loud annoying click that everyone in the living room could hear each time the unit turned on and each time it turned off (our old replaced thermostat was quiet) - the new one was unacceptable. Again, they came out and replaced it with one that doesn't make a loud click. #3. Excessive/continuous blower whining or howling coming from the brand new furnace. This steady whirling whining noise permeates through the entire house and you can hear it at every vent - it's very annoying. They tried to address it numerous times; They slowed down the blower speed but that wasn't the answer. Another time, both Expert and Carrier came out to the house and replaced the blower - - the whistle from the blower was still the same.
Carrier said this is the way the new blower sounds and that we would have to get used to it - (there is NO getting used to it so far). Carrier mentioned that it's possible we could try an older generation blower but we would lose some of the energy efficiencies that we gain on the new one. Carrier also mentioned that they could insulate some of our ducts near the furnace to quiet things down. Today the whistle still exists. So, in summary: we were very very impressed with Expert Heating & Coolings professionalism and customer care. However, we are very disappointed with the Carrier products we received. Please let us know if something can be done (without compromising the efficiencies of our new system) to remove the whistle noise. 12/7/2018 update - Carrier never responded to this note I submitted to them on their website. (and no, this howling noise is not caused by little air leaks or whistles in the air ducts, it's from the motor)

My A/C bill was high so I decided to buy a new cost efficient A/C, against several technician's advice. I checked around and was told to by homeowners that Carrier was the one to buy. They've had theirs for 20 years without problems. I bought this one less than 2 years ago and have had service technicians out three times and the blower motor changed last year. This weekend it stopped working again and the technician said I needed a new compressor.
Major repair. $1,200 cost. Called Carrier to complain and all they told me was that parts are free, but labor is not. The parts may be free, but the shipping is not! This is ridiculous! Less than 2 years old and Carrier is not doing anything about it. Back to homeowners that told me to buy a Carrier, they all bought them when they were made in America.
