I was buying a new house and HomeDirect Mortgage had the best rates for a VA loan. They also helped me buy the house pretty fast. We only lived in a hotel for a couple days when we first got to Virginia because the closing was so fast. We started in December and I closed on February 9th. As soon as I knew the house I wanted, the process only took probably about a month. But I had to wait on the seller to say I can have the house for a certain price and I wish I could’ve done the paperwork in November because from November to December, the rates went from 3.25 to 3.5. It was nothing to do with HomeDirect but I was upset at the fact that that extra 0.25 was added within a 20-day period. Nonetheless, the rate seemed good and 3.5 didn’t seem that high.
I also liked the fact that HomeDirect gave me some credit and I didn’t have to pay some fee that other people were gonna make me pay. That was another reason I picked HomeDirect. I had a good experience with them too. Their representative, Matt, answered every question I needed. I had all kinds of questions about the different rates and he went into each one in detail and let me know this and that. I would ask his opinion and although he can’t say which one to pick, he gave me his opinion and I went off of that. He was easygoing and he did everything I needed him to do.

I already had a mortgage with HomeDirect and it was time to refinance from a 30 to a 15. I received a phone call from HomeDirect and moved forward with that. It was pretty much all done over the phone. Also, everything was done through DocuSign so, it was easy. However, the application and underwriting process was way too long. It took close to two months and that was a little alarming. I've been doing real estate about ten years so I felt pretty familiar with the way how mortgages work. It's pretty alarming considering you'd have to go through an entirely new underwriting process and I have to give my first born information and hand them out my left leg, even though they already had the mortgage itself in-house. There should have been an easier process than that because they already approved it the first time.
The collection of the information should be a lot less for somebody that's refinancing within the same company. And after that, I should be able to give them some updated W-2s, personal financial statement, and we move on. I already had given them two years bank statements when I did the loan the first time. I don't know why I need to give them another two years bank statements. Also, I wasn't very pleased with the gentleman that was helping me with the way that he was handling things. He was being pulled in many directions, whether he was overloaded with files or whether he just rather wasn't paying attention to the files that we were talking about. I felt like I was having to basically do somebody's job for them. By the time we got through, he kind of gave me a bad taste in my mouth.
It'd be nice when somebody calls to talk to me about the house that we're refinancing and if he knew what city he was in so if we misunderstand, there would be a discussion about terms of the load and financing, kind of help things from being structured in escrow. On the other hand, the rates and terms were very fair. I shopped around and it's competitive. But I probably won't work with HomeDirect Mortgage again because of that experience. It took two months to get something done that should have taken a matter of a couple of weeks. Find a local bank that would make life easier.

I was pleased with my experience with HomeDirect. The service was expeditious and they maintained outstanding communications with the lender. The timing was everything and once we realized that HomeDirect was offering a very competitive rate, we compared and shopped. We were enamored with Andrew who provided us assistance. He was always available to answer questions for us whether it was during office hours or outside of office hours. He went above and beyond to get the refinance done and I was really appreciative of his efforts. The online application process was fairly straightforward. I’ve been through the process before so, it was very efficient and was as expected. And I’ve recommended HomeDirect to the individual who previously had another lender some years ago.

I had a good experience with HomeDirect Mortgage. We needed to refinance and HomeDirect was the most prompt. They responded quickly to my questions and they were also very thorough in their responses. I was considering five different lenders at that time and everything I asked for, their representative Jordan supplied. I'd like to know everything that’s going to happen in the process and whatever I requested, he would follow up immediately. That was very helpful for me to understand what to expect in the future. I had a really pleasant experience with him and everybody that I worked with that was associated with HomeDirect.
Additionally, the process was simple and user-friendly. The application and underwriting process took about 5 weeks. I was anticipating anywhere from six to eight weeks so it met my expectations. Moreover, the rate was good. I used to have a conventional loan. Now, I have a loan that has a PMI. So even though I got a good rate, the fact that I'm paying $115 in PMI is putting me at the fee that I was paying before at a higher rate. So while the rate sounds good, the PMI is throwing it off and I didn’t know too much about that at the very beginning. It was a learning process for me.

We looked up the person we were dealing with. And he had years of experience and a good track record in terms of his reviews and stuff that we had found after we contacted him. They called and started talking about how they could help us, and we started digging into the details of how we could get things done. The online process was a lot of back and forth. It was not easy. It was cumbersome. The whole application and underwriting process took three months.
I think that the process would have been a lot easier had we been able to move forward right away, rather than having to go back and forth so many times with the lender. And there could have been a little more knowledge about the way the market was moving, and the way that our responsibilities as the borrowers could have been explained better. Some of their response was slow. We got favorable rate and terms, though. And HomeDirect Mortgage got our refinance done. It saved us money on our mortgage.

I refinanced our current mortgage with HomeDirect. They had good rates and were competitive with everybody else. We did most of the process online and had back and forth conversations mostly by email. The application process wasn’t difficult or time consuming and my loan rep was always kind, very helpful and knowledgeable.

I used HomeDirect Mortgage in the past and I liked the guy I worked with. Jim did everything I needed him to do, so I used them again. After purchasing through another lender, we refied and HomeDirect's rates were the best ones out there. The application process was easy. It was much easier than it would be with another company. Jim was great and if we ever do this again, I'll use him.

I tried to go with HomeDirect Mortgage originally when I bought my house. They were so helpful, but we were not able to make it work. With the builder that we had, we would have lost everything with the lender. I had a crappy rate on my mortgage and I went back to HomeDirect Mortgage for my refinance. The process was streamlined and painless. We provided much of the documentation because their refinance is interest reduction.
We worked with the same person that we worked with initially. We provided them the payoff information and contact information to the existing people that are sourcing the loan. Then they provided us a quote. However, they needed to see us make six payments on the first loan in order to be able to refinance it. We locked in in December so they provided us their estimated closing cost and updated payment information. We closed in February and we signed the disclosures a couple of days ahead of time. And we had a notary show up at our house and signed all paperwork. Then it was completed and we just received the payoff confirmation from the old lender yesterday. The level of customer service was great. I was happy with the work done.
They are responsive to emails and phone calls. They exceeded all expectations. A lot of the documentation we had applied initially on the loan was not required because they were in still interest rate reduction. There was also no so it was simplified. The refinance reduced my mortgage payment $500 a month. I have referred my brother and sister to them. Moreover, I told some of my co-workers who said that they were looking to refinance that they should definitely check with HomeDirect Mortgage.

We found a house down here in Georgia Lake and turned to HomeDirect for mortgage since their interest rate was lower than others. I contacted somebody online and they returned my phone call. I communicated to them what I wanted and they set everything up and we started the process. Their online application was easy. I got approval in three days. And then it took about two weeks for the entire process including the final analysis where they had to go through some employment verification.
My loan rep was Jessie and I was impressed with his professionalism and his knowledge about VA loans. He was very helpful and informative and really quick to respond anytime I had a question. He also had an assistant helping him out and I've passed them information along to her that she requested. And then Jessie, about a week later, asked me for that same information, that I had informed him that I had already given it to his assistant. So he checked and verified that he got it. And then he apologized to me for asking for it, that I already sent it though. It was a little bit of communication issue between him and his assistant but nothing that needed to be complained about. I'm very comfortable working with him.
I was very happy with the rate I got and it was one of the lowest rates that I found on Zillow. And then everything went really smoothly. I also think my good credit ratings helped. Working with HomeDirect made it much easier for me to obtain the loan. Their whole process was seamless and they really worked with me. Last time, about 35 years ago, I took a home loan and it was a lot different back then. There was no online application. And so this was much quicker and easier. I'd tell anyone interested in HomeDirect to make the application and that it's an easy process with them and they were very helpful.

I was 100% impressed and amazed with HomeDirect. I felt that the mortgage I got from them made everything a hell of a lot easier. I was able to have two months off of mortgage and my refinance helped me a lot to be able to get my life in order. So, I really much appreciated that. Everything happened fast and smooth, and I have to thank Ronald, the mortgage lender that I spoke to, for that.
He was a former marine like me, so I felt very comfortable, respected, and cared for. We spoke the same language, had the same understanding, and wanted the same interests for my betterment. He never let me make a phone call, leave a voice mail, and not get back to me right away. He did an amazing job and I want to deal with him for the rest of the time that I have this mortgage company. He needs to run HomeDirect Mortgage because he was an awesome guy. We communicated directly, talked about the possibilities of me refinancing, and my mortgage rate. We also talked about my payments and my payment plans. Everything worked out perfectly given the time frame of me refinancing my home to be able to get a lower mortgage rate. He guided me through the process like a friend.
He was very on point in getting everything situated and when the bank that I had to deal with was having an issue, he was able to communicate with them and me very well. He was very more knowledgeable than they were and he was working with me through it while he was working with them through it. Everything ended up coming out in the right avenue of approach to be able to get the refinance to go through. So I was very happy with HomeDirect. Given my credit at the moment, with everything I've gone through, and the rate I got was better than most, I'm hoping that within six months, when I can finance again, I would be doing that with HomeDirect, too. If others don't go with HomeDirect, they're retarded.

I was buying a house. I went on LendingTree and HomeDirect Mortgage had low rates. I called the gentleman up and he said nobody would be able to touch their rates. The guy was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and made the process pretty painless. Their process was also very quick and easy. I had to send him financial information and we went back and forth a couple of times with regards to making sure we had all the right forms and all the right W-2 information. Every question I had, he responded back immediately via phone or email.
The whole thing took less than a month to complete which was on the money. Then, when I went to close, my agent had to look twice at the rate that I was provided because they could not believe it. I bought quite a few houses, but those guys at HomeDirect did a really good job and I don't regret going with them. I referred a friend of mine to HomeDirect and he was on the fence of whether or not he was going to buy a new home. But after my recommendation, he said he would contact the POC that I gave him if he was going to do it.

We were buying an investment property and for the new home loan, we stayed with the gentleman who got us another loan on another house four years ago. He moved companies and he works for HomeDirect Mortgage now. I've gotten three loans through him and he was awesome. I gave him all my paperwork and insurances then he went to do his job. He called me when to sign and told me what the interest rate was within the week. I wish I could have gotten a better interest rate but I know that the interest rates are bull. The Federal Reserve is printing money out of nothing and they're going to keep raising the interest rates. Economically, we're in trouble. But it's an investment property so I don't care. On my own personal property, I got a good rate from this loan officer and I would use him again. I love HomeDirect and I'll use them again.

The HomeDirect lending process was streamlined and easy to work with. I applied through my broker, whom I've been working with for a bunch of years. When he needed something signed, he emailed me and asked me for information. I got him the information he needs and it just went from there. It was stress-free. Everything was online and they sent out a mobile notary to sign, and my broker was able to close it up in 30 days. Working with HomeDirect got me a new VA mortgage and lowered my payment and interest rate, and I would refer my friends to my broker.

When I decided to move back home from Virginia Beach, I scattered around ‘till I found a home that I wanted in Oklahoma which is where I was from. The process of obtaining the loan from HomeDirect Mortgage was done online and through mail and emails, except for the closing, and it took 45 days from start to finish. My experience with their reps was fantastic. Kerry was firm but polite. He was so considerate when I got a little bulky about some of the information he needed and he dealt with me very well. I don’t pass along information about myself willingly at all ever, but he got what he needed and he explained in details as to why. He didn’t leave me hanging.
He was a very nice man and I enjoyed working with him. However, I wish that I was able to fill out the thing online, in regards working with him. Every time I tried to open it to put anything on there, it kept telling me that I didn’t have the correct password. But I’ve had that password for eight years and I know it’s perfect but I never got to open it.

I found a couple houses on Zillow and I was trying to model some financing just to get some budgetary information. And there was a link there. And then there was like some PDFs that we e-signed and I got contacted by someone from HomeDirect. Once I started working with the gentleman, Josh, I was really impressed with his customer service, response time, patience to really take time to explain everything and answered my questions. I had a real comfort level with my experience with him throughout the early process and decided to go with him for the actual mortgage. He went above and beyond. I’m very, very grateful for his professionalism and his response.
Anytime I emailed, I got responses back right away. So I think every form of communication throughout the process was smooth and very, very effective and responsive. I filled out an online application. What I initially wanted was to get prequalified or preapproved so I got a preapproval letter from them. And then once we started narrowing down our search and locked in the property that we were interested in, they already had most of my information to get it appraised. I had to provide them with some pay stubs and some different bank account information and just some validations for the information that I put on that initial application.
It was an easy and straightforward process. I was very impressed and pleased because it was 20 years since I purchase my last home so a lot of things have changed with the process and the tools. It was much easier than the last time that I remember. We end up closing sooner than the target date. The HomeDirect team was very prompt. I had all my information, responded to the appraiser and got the information in quickly. Everybody seemed to be on their game and kept things going. I can’t say enough good things about the team at HomeDirect that worked with me throughout the process.
Plus the rate that Josh told me upfront was what I got. So I got locked in where there was no surprises. And the amount that I needed to close came in less than what he forecasted or budgeted early in the process and was very competitive for my credit score so that was a pleasant surprise. I had significantly less money that I needed cash to close which freed up some money for us to get some different furniture and things we needed for the move so it worked out great. We’re in the new house now and we absolutely love it. It’s quite a step up for us. And we’re just very, very happy. I would absolutely recommend them and share our positive experiences.

The owner of the house that I've been living in for three years now decided that she wanted to sell it. I didn't want to move, so I started looking around for mortgage companies that could handle a VA loan, and I came upon HomeDirect. There were a lot of steps in their application. I had to get an approval from the VA, as well as all the documents and inspections that the VA required. The banker was very helpful, and that was useful. He said he had been through thousands of these before, and that’s good, so I relied on his experience. He was very professional and I was comfortable working with him. If I have a question, I'd email him and he would get back the same day or the next day. Occasionally we'd talk over the phone, but we mostly interacted online.
The whole process took a month. We had a few glitches in terms of getting data back and forth, but that got worked out okay. Mortgage rates hit bottom late last year, and when this deal was going through, unfortunately, they increased a little bit. I just got in the mail today an invoice and the instructions and on how to send my first payment, and it's simple. However, I'm concerned about setting up an auto-pay from my regular bank account. I'm not sure how to do that yet. Overall, my experience with HomeDirect has gone well. If you're in a similar situation and needed a mortgage, I would recommend them.

I was buying a new home and applied for a VA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage. I liked their reviews and rates. Their application process was easy and simple, and the whole process took about 30 days. It could've closed earlier but it wasn't a traditional type of loan process. The documents had to be mailed to me and it was a Friday so the documents wouldn't get to us until Monday or Tuesday. But, we got to close with a rate lock and it worked out good. The lending process went a lot quicker than I imagined and it was a good experience. The rep who helped me through the loan process was a man of his word. He was very consistent throughout the process.

I was trying to see if I could get the lowest percentage rate for my home as far as financing. I started way back at a 5.75 and at that time it sounded good but in the long run, I couldn’t afford it, having a big house. So I refinanced once with the company and went back to the same company, trying to see if I can get a better percentage since I've been with them for a period of time. They had given me a 4.63 when I refinanced the first time and they offered me a 4.2 the second time around. I was going to jump on it because it was a lower percentage rate but a friend of mine told me I might as well look and shop around.
I did a lot of shopping around and I started getting a couple of numbers as far as in the 3s. HomeDirect offered me a 3.25 and nobody could beat it. I still did some shopping around but once I agreed to it, the process took about a month. We did a VA loan and it takes a little bit more paperwork on my end as far as being retired in military. The mortgage officer explained everything in detail. I would suggest HomeDirect Mortgage to others because I had no issues from their end. It was simple. And if I had an issue, I'd send a text, make a phone call or send an email and they would get back in touch with me. Everybody was eager to help me. I'm satisfied with my experience. It definitely lowered my mortgage and it has definitely made my life easier.

I was right at the closing table with Quicken Loans but I wasn't comfortable with what I thought was a high cost to do this refinance. And that's what led me to reach out to LendingTree. I went ahead and supplied all eight different companies that I got a response from with the same specifications that I was looking for on a refinance mortgage and all of them were diligent in calling back. But the loan officer for HomeDirect, Ryan, was head and shoulders above the rest when it came to cutting through the fog that surrounds a home refinance process. He had crystal clear advice that I was impressed right off the bat. He was the difference in deciding which mortgage company to go with.
Ryan was able to explain to me how to evaluate and compare the difference between various mortgage companies. He gave me some advice that was invaluable, impartial and very professional. When I got a chance to use Ryan's advice as a tool to evaluate the various lenders, I was able to compare HomeDirect with Quicken Loans, and with all the other lenders who were vying for my business from LendingTree. And ultimately, it turned out to be true that HomeDirect had the best rates when I compared the interest rates, the lender credits, and the lender charges. He cleared it up big time that everything else is the same and that those three things are the only three things that mortgage companies or finance companies are in control of. My escrow account, my prepaid and the VA charges are the same across the board.
The online process was flawless. I narrowed it down to HomeDirect and Quicken Loans and put both of them side by side and went through the application process with both of them. The first part of the online application process was the conversation I had with the mortgage banker. In this case, it was Ryan. He gave a loan estimate, which is a standard process where each and every one tenders their loan estimate. It has all the information on it that I needed to evaluate the various lenders. I compared the loan estimates from a number of these various companies and took out the three best companies among them. I started the next phase, which was where I began the qualification process and that went to the underwriter. The application and underwriting process with HomeDirect took about 60 days. I'm a self-employed individual so it takes a little longer.
There's a lot of documents that need to be given and so a person has to have a scanner. If that person can't scan a document, it could probably be painful. But as long as that person has the ability to scan any document, then no worries. In fact, it was faster and quicker doing an online process with HomeDirect than it would have been with a local banker that I would have to keep taking information to. The interactions with HomeDirect's customer service were excellent and we had good communication. Ryan had great customer skills, the underwriting process was good and the closing process was excellent. I was very impressed with HomeDirect Mortgage.

I bought a new house. I was referred to HomeDirect Mortgage by my friend and when I looked at the product offerings it ended up being a better product offering based on the information at the time. We did the application early because I was doing new construction home loan. The application was easy and it was taken care of. The start process was fine until we got close to closing.
Then we got everything locked and then there were some different changes that occurred at the turn of the calendar year that required time to get some more information. They didn’t want to use my wife’s income because we were moving and they also didn’t want to use any of my rental income for my other properties that I had. They were trying to finance me for a loan based on my income and a huge debt to income ratio because I have two other rental properties that they were not taking into consideration as rental income. The numbers changed a little bit as far as what the monthly outlay would be. And with respect to taxes and insurance and it put it up for the value that was a little higher than expected. There were no issues there but it was just what they had taken for my assets versus what my liabilities were. They stuck me with almost a $1,000,000 worth of debt in homes and no income.
The lender who did the processing for me didn’t tell me about it and all the sudden I had to jump through a ton of hoops to get this documentation. He just kept sending me, “Hey I need this, this, and this.” When I would say, “Why are we doing this?” I didn’t get a good response until the last day when I was like “Dude, I’m kind of irritated with this whole process. What’s going on?” He then finally explained, “Oh yeah, I made some mistakes ‘cause we had applied for your loan so long ago and it was in the rearview mirror, I never caught back up with it.”
It almost seemed like they tried to make it feel like it was my fault within all those stuff. Crunch time was one of the most important piece and most important time at the end and it fell flat and I had to do a whole bunch more work and all of it at this stressful time. If I would recommend them to somebody else, at this point I couldn't say yes. It was a good product but the way I was handled at the backside was awfully frustrating.

I wanted to refinance at a lower rate and I know a fella that works for HomeDirect and spoke with him. I did a bit of comparing with other companies after I talked to him and got some information, and it seemed like HomeDirect was competitive with everyone else. I own a business also, so I had to go through some of that information back and forth a bit to get that all squared away. But the process was simple and it was a straightforward deal. The application and underwriting process took 30 days at the most and I expected that would be about what it would take.
Also, their customer service was really helpful. I dealt with Todd and he kept me informed all the way through. If there was any additional information they needed, he would send me what they needed right away. So I was able to get it together and get back with them. Todd and another guy, Steven, did a great job. I was able to ask them questions about payments and early payoffs and they were helpful about getting back to me right away and they answered my questions really well. There were a couple of extra steps along the way. But other than that, I was satisfied with everything. I felt good about the rate in terms of the refinance that I received. It also felt good to have an actual 15-year fixed rate.
I would encourage my friends to go through HomeDirect if they were looking for a mortgage since they did a good job. Working with them made things simpler now. I don't have to worry about my adjustable rate mortgage going forward with it and I've got it locked in. The comfort of that was the most impactful.

When I got a 30-year conventional refinance from HomeDirect, I did some comparison between them and other mortgage companies, including the one that was previously servicing the mortgage and they were much more competitive and had better customer service. I had very good credit and I expected that whoever was talking to me be as competitive as possible. I also had some very specific concerns about the ability to be able to lower the monthly payment which was significantly important to me and what programs existed that best fit the profile of the type of consumer that I was and they listened to me. I wanted the facts that I would never miss the payment and was never late with the payment to be taken into consideration.
Ultimately, I landed with HomeDirect and the key factor was Chad, the gentleman who assisted me. He was forthright, prompt and professional. He listened to everything I had to say and answered my questions, no matter how simple they were or how completed they were and he was not condescending. He sent me a list of what he needed and I was able to turn that around within 24 hours. So when it was time to produce bank statements, insurance forms, or declaration pages and statements from my employer, I had them ready.
Every conversation I had with him was backed up by an email confirming what we talked about. And when I got the actual documents, it was exactly as we have discussed. Reputation-wise, that meant a lot to me because I had a conversation with another company and everything they said sounded great but when I received the electronic document, the conversations I had with the rep was not what was reflected in the paperwork. HomeDirect's application process was simple and seamless and I was happy with the rate. From application to underwriting, it took more two weeks from start to finish. It ended up being between HomeDirect and my mortgage servicer.
It was my first experience so it was important that I understood what was going on. I did my homework and educated myself about the process. HomeDirect was timely and responsive and the experience has been professional. They were able to bring me peace of mind and I’ve learned a lot. It brought me some ease of mind and I’m more knowledgeable. I have to admit I don’t claim to know everything there is about financing homes but I’m smarter for it. I felt so good about it that I suggested to my daughter and son-in-law who are looking to purchase their first home that they speak to Chad and also look at HomeDirect for their first mortgage. It was a good experience and I have recommended them to others.

I was looking into a mortgage when I was buying a new home. HomeDirect Mortgage had better rates than other lenders. I tried other companies but then we found a Realtor first who has a good business relationship with Mark, the HomeDirect loan officer I worked with. I also had another person from a different bank out in the same area. And we made an offer of what we were looking for to both companies and Mark came in at a better rate and lender credit than the other.
HomeDirect's application and underwriting process were too long, though. They were thorough and they need to be, but some of the questions that they were asking were way excessive. It just made the process so much longer and frustrating. I was told I wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone in underwriting because they would send questions back to Mark and his team, and then they would email me back asking me to provide something or put an explanation in a memo, an email, or a letter. There was an extra step that took longer but in the end, everything worked out. I had a very good experience overall and I would definitely recommend them.

We needed to refinance out of our construction work. My wife signed up with Lending Tree and had a bunch of different lenders reaching out to her which were too many to answer. Luckily, one of the ones she answered was HomeDirect Mortgage. We started the process with them because they said they could get us a much lower rate than anybody else. The bottom line for us was that we just wanted to get the rate as low as possible so it locked us into a good 30-year mortgage on a house that we don’t need to move out of so that's great. The rate was outstanding. No one else was offering a rate in that range especially after we locked it in. As time went on, rates have been rising every week in 2018 but we've managed to avoid almost all of that run-off so the rate was excellent.
I'm a veteran so part of that was there had to be a VA loan so they walked us through that process. Tons of paperwork were involved there but there were a few slowdowns due to processing of VA paperwork. Also, we had to use a rate-lock extension. Other than that, it has been fairly smooth and everything went essentially as expected.
Matt, our loan officer got us to closing and the amount was great. Our experience with him was good and we felt very comfortable working with him. He was knowledgeable and helped walk us through some of the portions we weren’t familiar with particularly with regard to the VA process. He was very responsive and was generally available whenever we needed him. Even at certain times when he was clearly off work and already at the gym, he still had time to answer questions to our satisfaction and never tried to rush us off. Sometimes there were some backhand processing issues and there were a couple of miscommunications here and there but stuff happens and nothing to be too concerned about. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend to go with Matt as a loan officer. HomeDirect Mortgage has impacted our lives very well.

We wanted to buy a house and then a friend referred us to HomeDirect Mortgage. We were given their information as well so I sent them an email. We worked with Chad and his responsiveness was impressive. As this was our first time buying a house, we didn’t know the process very well, and so there were emails that we randomly sent in and he responded to those within an hour. He was awesome and we were totally comfortable working with him. We got pre-approved in November and then it took a little while to find a house that we like. But once we found the house, we got the actual mortgage approval from the underwriter as well as the disclosures, and the closing process took about six weeks. Everything went really great. Plus, we got a competitive rate. It was very similar to other banks but definitely at little lower end than other banks.

I wanted to refinance my house and use my VA loan or VA eligibility. I got an email from several different lenders and got estimates from each of the m. Initially, I went with HomeDirect Mortgage because of the interest rate that they were able to give. They came in with the best number. The online application process wasn’t difficult. The lending process was standardized and worked well. I gave them some paperwork, then they got it taken care of, and I got the loan. The whole process took from 30 to 40 days.
The two loan officers that I primarily dealt with were Jordan and Anthony. They were very quick to respond and communicated well and effectively. I was very comfortable working with them and everything was just instantly taken care of. HomeDirect beat everybody else on the rate and terms of the mortgage, so they were great. I would share my experience with people and tell them that everything worked great with HomeDirect and my mortgage experience was seamless. There's always paperwork to send the mortgage company, but HomeDirect was efficient in dealing with everything.

I would use HomeDirect Mortgage again if I ever need to.

I needed to get some cash and I was in the market looking for the best rate and then low cost. When I refinanced last time with them, HomeDirect Mortgage did a good job. Their agent, Noah gave me a good rate and it was a no-cost loan. I was hoping the same this year and went with them, but there was some cost associated with that one. It changed in two weeks and I wasn’t as happy as I was the first time around. But since I already had all my paperwork done, the process was easier and most of the things were taken care of. But it was still a cash-out.
The application and underwriting process took three weeks and it was fast and fairly less compared to others. HomeDirect was also simple compared to others like I was able to do everything from home. I didn’t have to go and their notary came home and it was an easy process. They worked well with me in closing the loan and there weren't too many hassles. But I was expecting to get a lower rate but I didn't. Also, I always look for no-hassle pricing in the sense where you know what the price is. And I really didn’t like it when I called back the third time I had an email change and when their lender credit kept changing on me every two days. If a friend asks me about my experience with them, I will have them shop and have a second and third opinion from some other mortgage.

I was living in a rent-controlled townhouse and my rent kept increasing according to my salary. To me, it wasn't fair because they were taking the money I was saving to buy a new house. The only way to do it was no money down through a VA loan, so I utilized that. I went online and Quicken Loans was the first one to respond to us. However, I quickly got the idea that their rates were so high and all their fees were exorbitant that I was looking at way too much for a monthly payment. That's when I started yielding out to other lenders.
During the process of viewing homes, when you decide to go ahead and make an offer on our home, everybody tries to rush deposits on you and you don't have time to look around and be competitive with banks. The very last time, I was threatened that I might not make closing dates. I also had several banks that approved and locked me at a rate but a week and a half later it changed from 3.75 to 3.85. That's when I entertained one of the emails from Erica from HomeDirect. I said, "Listen, what can you do for me here?" She came back with a way better rate.
Erica was patient with me. She made sure that she met her deadlines and got information back very quickly. She responded to phone calls and emails on the same day. It took eight days from the time that the sellers accepted the offer to the time that she was able to have our closing document, which was the amount of time she told us the process would take. It also happened a lot quicker than a real estate agent thought it would.
I did extend but that was because the seller had to do repairs on the home after I did a second inspection. I ended up with a 3.3% rate, which was great. What she stated that I would get back at closing was pretty much what I got back. So, I was very happy with it. Don't be nervous about working with online companies. People would think that by going locally, they would get treated better. But I went with an online broker and I felt I got treated very well. I am someone who is apprehensive and nervous about dealing with somebody far away, but everything's worked out fine so far.

I was on an ARM and the rate started to increase so I looked into lenders to refinance. I competed HomeDirect with three lenders. Two lenders were recommended from LendingTree and the current mortgage holder. Then I went with HomeDirect. I wasn’t thinking hard about the application process when I went through it. The forms were easy to manipulate during the application process. And most of it was made simpler because of the loan officer, Aspen. She was extremely strong and proactive and answers back right away.
I asked her to run five different scenarios and she did all of that. She functioned in past experience like a loan officer would. There was someone who was collecting the documents and supporting her. So they might have had a team that they ran things. And as far as facilitating the process from an authority standpoint, Aspen was fantastic.
When she was underwriting to somebody who had more approval authority than she had it was fast and precise. The trade-off options were well understood, simple, broke down, so it could be done in a comparative way easily. And after the appraisal came in I told her I’m gonna make an adjustment depending what it was and she handled it well. So a lot of kudos to Aspen.

I was with a company that was just absolutely terrible. And they said that I owed money and they were going to file bankruptcy. I did owe them monthly payments but they said I was behind on my payments which was wrong. It took us three weeks or longer to get a payoff figure from them. They just lied and lied. But, my experience with HomeDirect was fantastic and they were honest. When they contacted me, they said that they could do this and that and they did exactly as they said.
It was just a lot of paperwork but they handled everything on their end. They asked me questions. I told them how much money I have in the bank and what I did. And because I made my payments on time, my credit was fair. Everything I did in the process was to speak to someone which I liked. I'm not the type of person that likes to be online. I like the personal and they were very personalized. I worked with two people and it worked out very well. There was one who was a main person and then he had a person who helped him out. They worked diligently and got everything done. They told me what I needed and I had to get it. They were straightforward and they stayed on top of it.
I sell yachts for a living and I've dealt with banks for many years. A lot of times you call a banker and they don’t call you back for days. That wasn’t the case with HomeDirect. I got a good rate, as well. I've had a lot of people call me and their rates were different. I'm 73 years old and I needed a 30-year mortgage. I'm retired so I needed my payments to be less and I got that. My payments were $800 lower than they were. I'm 200% satisfied with them and I would recommend HomeDirect and the two people I dealt with to anybody.

At that time, I had an adjustable on my home and then it started off nice and low and then it adjusted to about four, then I got a letter saying there’s a possibility it would adjust again on August so I thought I better start looking. I went online looking for low-interest rates, 15 years, and HomeDirect Mortgage came up. Their interest rate was lower than others. I also got in touch with someone named Seth and he was very deliberate and prompt about returning calls or emails, which I was impressed with and he knew I appreciated that. There was a day lag, but it wasn’t a week’s lag. If I contacted, he got back, so that was good and he was excellent.
However, refinancing with HomeDirect was a pain in the neck because I had an income property, so I had to approve everything over, but it’s the way it is. The online application process with HomeDirect was easy, and the application and underwriting process took somewhere between 18 and 21 days. However, there was so much verification during the lending process. I’m retired, so I had to approve my pension and social security. I had sent them reasons for all the rental, insurance policies for all the properties, and the declaration page. I also had to send them my two-month stock statements from my bank. I have many properties and many of them don’t have a loan but I still had to prove insurance. It wasn't my favorite thing to do because it’s collecting a lot of data. My credit score is exemplary, but I still had to approve everything.
Moreover, I had to prove to the IRS that I paid my taxes, and so there was an application to the IRS. And they refused to send it to the lenders because there’s so much fraud. So, they would only send it to me, and then I had to call the IRS and verify that it was me that was requesting and gave them the number on the tax return. Nevertheless, I’m happy with the interest rates from HomeDirect now. I was also pleased because the rate never changed. I was thinking it might fluctuate or sometimes they would give me teasers and then it would not materialize, but it did. I would recommend HomeDirect Mortgage to others.

I had gone through LendingTree and HomeDirect Mortgage's rep was one of the lenders that contacted us. From the first call, I already had a good experience with him. Out of all those lenders, he was the most helpful and most knowledgeable at the very beginning. We had a very difficult loan and their rep listened, took information, followed up on it and got back to us in a timely manner. We were impressed with his flexibility and the fact that he was very open to what I was telling him. He listened and respected what I was saying and said, "Send it to me, let me follow up on it and see what I can do." Also, they got the questions to us in a timely manner and we were able to get answers to them.
My husband and I bought a property over a year ago. We sold our house last February and then we started to build. My husband is a vet but he’s also a general contractor with his own business. What a lot of lending companies didn’t understand was that he didn’t have to be certified with the VA because the VA has a blanket certification for all vets who are general contractors in the state. I got the information from HomeDirect Mortgage. No one else would even listen to me and I had the VA send the letter to me through email explaining exactly what it was and what the lender needed to do.
However, HomeDirect's rep was very open to it and moved with it. The online application process was great and a lot better than faxing and hard mail and I like it. The application and underwriting took about a month and HomeDirect was able to get us a refinance with a great mortgage rate. We had a great experience with them. They were easy to work with, they were knowledgeable and they were on top of things.

I had a couple of surgeries this year and my father-in-law passed away. I got caught up with that and so, we wanted to refinance. I searched around, talked to several loan officers and I felt a few were dishonest. I also found one that was a little less expensive but I didn't feel quite as safe with that company. So, I researched HomeDirect and they had a really good consumer feedback rating. And then I looked at their terms and the fees and I liked that it was an in-house.
Aspen, who we dealt with from HomeDirect, was great and was extremely attentive. She answered all of my questions and was very patient. She was honest with me and I didn't feel like she was trying to scam me or throw a pitch at me. She just gave me the facts and that was that, which was big. When she wasn't going to be available, she had two other people available for me to talk to pretty much at all times. She was awesome about getting it in quickly and making sure my husband was around during the time period to get all the paperwork sign so we didn't have to worry about him being out of state. It was nice.
However, the appraisal company was awful. They undervalued our house and didn't get it in at the promised time. And so, we had to pay an extension and it was aggravating. The process took about a month. Had the appraisal company do what they said they were going to do or had they done what they said they were going to do, we would've been under the 30-day mark. But we were at 33 days.
Nevertheless, the rate and the terms of the refinance that I got were good. We went with a VA loan but they were not as great and not quite beneficial. The interest rates were lower in regular mortgages on one point. And now, they're just below and not as bad. I liked that HomeDirect absorbed a lot of my typical fees, which was nice. That was also helpful 'cause it was an unplanned expense. And then, they worked with us on the extension. I like HomeDirect and I already recommended them to another PTA parent.

I wanted to refinance and I felt like I built a rapport with Jamie, the rep from HomeDirect Mortgage. I had already researched some stuff, so other lenders were kind of hiding it in their back pocket and I had to force it out, which leaves me to not trust them as much. But Jamie laid out everything upfront and she was very professional. I was impressed with Jamie's transparency and she also gave me her contact information, so it was easy for me to reach out to her, contact her and speak with her. If I didn’t get a hold of her, then she would call me back. Whereas with the other providers, it was email, so I never really got to talk to a voice. With emails, people can misinterpret the non-verbal intentions behind everything.
However, there were times where we were awaiting the underwriting and there would be a two-day gap. Jamie should have just said to me that there was going to be a two-day gap and that I shouldn't be alarmed and that no news is good news. I felt like I had a piece of information that I had to give to move forward, which wasn’t the case, it was just that the process of it took three or five days. Other than that, Jamie is definitely an expert in her field. She gave me a few different options. I already knew the route I was going to go, but it still relates to me as far as which choice I wanted to make, and then she either reaffirmed that or she gave more information on the other stuff if she thought that was a better option.
The online application process was streamlined. I went through LendingTree and then from there, the information was prefilled and it was just another typical application. The application and underwriting process took less than a week. I was already preapproved and they had me sign some papers that were redundant, so I took those out. There were simple disclosures and things that to me, was common-sense, but that's part of all lenders. I got a good rate from HomeDirect, but I think I should have jumped on it a little bit sooner. I would encourage my family and friends to apply with HomeDirect. I haven't had much interaction since then, but just from what I’ve seen, it’s a smaller thing where they don’t plan on selling my loan to somebody else. And if I want to pay twice a month or monthly, HomeDirect would be able to accommodate the request.

HomeDirect Mortgage was a Zillow choice. They were the second one of the top three there. First, I made contact with them and we submitted our certificate of VA legibility to the lender whose name was Dirk. He was very kind, courteous and helpful, same with his partner Erik who submitted all the paperwork. We are on the East Coast and they are on the West Coast, and professionalism, diligence and coming back to you in a prompt manner are the things you expect when working across states. They were both on top of it all the time no matter what time it was. There were items that fell through the cracks but I was very meticulous about it so I picked it up.
After the VA inspection was done, it was just a matter of waiting for the repairs to be done so that they could be submitted back to the lender with the repair bill. It took less than 30 days and we just closed a few days ago. The interest rates could be a little bit more open to the prospective buyers though. There are very favorable rates out there for people that make credit like my wife and I but that was not discussed and the option was limited. With better interest rates, I'm sure HomeDirect can secure more customers.

I wanted to do some remodeling and I wanted to refinance for cash for remodeling. My loan agent, Tyson, did a great job. He really was straightforward and didn’t do any of the high pressure, get-a-quote-from-somebody-else-and-we'll-beat it type of stuff. It was an internet search and I looked for who was offering the best VA, 15-year fixed rates. The moment I went online, it was 30 seconds later and I had telephone calls and emails. And then, I chose four or five companies to see what the overall cost was and what the interest rate was. I was with loanDepot and I compared HomeDirect Mortgage with LendingTree, Quicken, and with two others. HomeDirect came out the cheapest overall for what I needed to do, had the best rate and overall the lowest cost.
Costs are called different things by different companies and once I start looking at the details, sometimes there are hidden costs that companies are calling something else and sometimes what they're calling as a fixed cost is actually a variable cost that I can negotiate, but most companies aren’t really forthcoming with that. I just wish that they have an industry standard and be more forthcoming in exactly what all the costs are.
The rate and terms I received were very competitive. I brought it down and Tyson did a good job. I could have broken it up myself but be showing where the payback was on buying down a full point and how much it would cost, then how much it impacts the monthly payments and how long it takes to do that. I could have run the numbers myself, but Tyson ran that and showed that there was a six and a half year payback which for 15-year note intending to stay in the house was worthwhile had it been we were going to remodel and be out of here in three years, I wouldn’t have done it. But Tyson did a good job of looking at those types of what ifs.
There’s always something they can do a little bit better. The loan ended up with Bank of Oklahoma and the website it kicked over to was a little glitchy for electronic signature and could have been a little smoother. Having to do two steps could probably be shortened into one and a little cleaner. The HomeDirect part was okay, but the other part could be a little better. There are other companies that had a little slicker upfront website with that. The two steps could be improved and that process could be made easier and more transparent. I didn’t know if it was trustworthy because it didn’t come from HomeDirect, and it came from this other source and wanted me to log on and verify. It came out of the blue and so, being touchy about protecting personal information, I sent Tyson an email asking if it was legit and it struck me as off having those two steps there.
HomeDirect closed quickly and they did a good job with that. It took three weeks, so that was very good. I'd tell my friends to definitely go with HomeDirect. I would tell them that there are some companies out there that might be a little slick on the surface, but I would tell them to check it out and then run the numbers because it doesn’t necessarily mean one’s always going to be in first place. There are lots of companies that want you to go through the whole process with another company and then send them the closing sheet and then submit a cost which they can be. That’s a bit dishonest.
And when they're asking one company to go on the line and do that closing sheet, there may be company proprietary information that the other company wants us to give them before they'll say, “We'll beat it by $50 or $100.” Tyson didn’t do that, but I ran into that with three different companies. They wanted me to go through the whole process with another company all the way to signing on the dotted line and then give them that information for them to compute against.

I had some equity in my home and I checked around for refinancing and tried to see what the rates were and how much it would cost. The guy I talked to from HomeDirect Mortgage was nice and responsive. His name was Kerry and the rates they have were also lower than what I currently had and based on what I was researching online. He also gave some estimates on how much it would cost to do the refinance. I talked to him about a year and a half ago and at first, I didn't end up doing it then. However recently, it made more sense. So I reached back and the rates were lower than what I had previously. Then it came down to getting an appraisal and hoping that it would appraise for the right amount and it did. It went smoothly from there.
Kerry and I mostly communicated by email. A couple of times, he called on the phone. It was straightforward. He let me know what will be done and gave an estimate that was accurate as far as the cost. He lets you know what he was doing and asked for whatever documents he needed. He also kept me updated and let me know where the process of the loan was. So far, the rate and terms that I received were good compared to everything else. They were even probably the best I could get at the time, while the fees for the VA refinance loan was standard. Overall, my main goal was to refinance and get whatever equity was out of the home to pay off some of the loans I have with higher interest rates. I was able to do it at 3.5, which was helpful. I had about $60,000 now which could let me pay off basically all the other loans from school and stuff.

We had a lot of home equity and we thought we'd go for a lower rate and pull some money out. We're getting ready to do some business and wanted some extra cash. I took a 30-year VA loan from HomeDirect. It's crazy how I and their rep Sam got along. I talked to him on the phone and we just clicked. They obviously had the loan that I wanted. We did most of the transaction online. He told me what he needed as far as information and I faxed it to him and then when we hit a certain point, somebody showed up and I signed the papers. The whole process took four weeks, which was about the same as I expected and it went very smoothly. Their reps were all good and very efficient. Our interaction went smoothly and their rate was good.

HomeDirect Mortgage had a really good rate. And when I spoke to Chad, the guy representing them, I liked him. So, we decided to use them when we were refinancing our house. Chad wasn’t our first choice. As a matter of fact, he was the third choice. The other first two gave me a quote on a rate, and by the time we got to paperwork, the rate had changed. And I’m a Realtor so I don’t care for anybody who can’t tell me the truth. Chad gave me a rate, and when I got to paperwork, it was the same. The underwriting was quick and we closed in under 30 days, which was good. I’m starting to recommend HomeDirect to somebody who comes to me without a lender.

I saw a good review of HomeDirect Mortgage on Zillow. Their rates were very competitive from other lenders and banks but the rate could have been a little better. But HomeDirect’s rep, Ronald, gave me some good idea and tips as well as good trades. His communication was very prompt and he always kept us informed about the steps. We built a good relationship and I felt very comfortable working with him. We then got to our assessment and sent our documents and after that, he called and the credit line got approved. The application process got approved in about a week. Everything went smoothly. A few documents though were more than a little extra than what I was getting from other lenders. But HomeDirect Mortgage definitely helped us get an on-time loan and helped us secure the house we wanted. It was an educative experience.

After bring my loan to HomeDirect Mortgage the only thing that could be improved is the website. It is cumbersome and difficult to navigate. I have two mortgages with HomeDirect. The first one was a refinance and the second was for another purchasing. I got lucky that I had a really good loan officer with HomeDirect. She was excellent and she made everything pretty easy for the whole process. The application process was fine and every mortgage I ever had, the closing costs seemed to be pretty solid all the way through until the very end. Overall, I was pretty happy with both of the mortgage processes that I went through with them and the mortgage product that I got. I would recommend HomeDirect.

I had a positive experience with HomeDirect Mortgage. We were buying a house and needed to get a mortgage. Katie, our mortgage broker, knew the product well. She was also good and helpful. The application and underwriting process for my fixed loan program took about a week. But while the ending rates and terms I have received were what I've expected, their tools were a little lacking. For mortgage payments, you have to do like a wire transfer, versus the more modern direct pay that you would do at Wells Fargo or Bank of America.

I did not have enough to pay off the house and HomeDirect was a convenient option. The link was there when I looked for the house on sale. The online application process went smoothly in the beginning but there were a few snapped woods at the end because there were several other people who got involved later on and didn’t seem like they were communicating well. Two weeks before closing, a lot of paperwork was not ready. We had to sweep the closing day back once but I’ve successfully closed on the house. The rep I had worked with was very professional too. As soon as I sent a message to him, he would respond fairly quickly. He also responded to my real estate agent and she felt that he was pretty professional as well. Hopefully, HomeDirect and I will have a good relationship as they continue to service the loan.

HomeDirect was first rate, professional, and excellent, and the whole business was superlatively done. But maybe the reps should know a bit more about the VA loans if it ended up being that. They were well-informed, but it got complex, so if you haven’t taken out a mortgage in a while, it’s better to walk through it again.

It was stress-free. Steven, the loan officer, was excellent and followed through beyond what would be normal of a loan officer. What they said in the beginning was what happened at the end. The loan officer was clear and concise in exactly what I needed to do and what the time frame for the close was. And it was less than 30 days, which was great. I’ve done a few mortgages before so securing the loan from HomeDirect was all normal stuff. We did an application online and then sent in my documents that they needed to process the loan, like pay stubs and W-2s. The thing I like the most was their willingness to do the lending process online. Most of the loan people don’t want to give any information. They want to talk to you on the telephone and I simply wanted to evaluate facts so I can do that if they send me the numbers. I’m not interested if the salesperson is trying to sell me. I had filed bankruptcy due to identity theft back in 2011. I got modified under the HARP loan plus I'm a 100% disabled veteran, so I basically got bailed out and it took a bunch of money off my mortgage. Then I got refinanced under the HARP program. Five years went by and they upped it to $200 a month, so I began to look around. Then one day, six years after that, I realized that I had $250,000 equity on my house. I thought I had lost it due to the bankruptcy, but what happened was because it was identity theft, they restored my equity. It's part of the bankruptcy plan. I then contacted HomeDirect and I liked the way they talked to me. When I got the callback, I had a really great experience. They did a really good job and I was very impressed.
At the hearing, at the conference table where you go to have your bankruptcy and there's an administrative judge, some guy walked out of the audience and sat down at the table. I recognized him as a plumber who had done some work on my house about six months earlier. Then he started saying how he wanted me to pay him the $575 I owed him. This guy is committing a crime by being there and making the demand of me at my own hearing. He's not even supposed to make any demands with me. When the guy asked me if I was going to pay him, the administrative judge looked to me. Then I pointed to my attorney, and my attorney turned to the guy and said, “I suggest you hire a counselor.” The administrative judge just sat there and staring at everybody until the guy left. Then I sued the guy and got $5,000 out of him for coming to my hearing and making a demand.
He got a judgment after it pointed to my record. It was an illegal filing of a judgment. It didn’t come up until HomeDirect did a title search. They were the ones who fixed it, not my own attorney. Their internal department cleared that up, slam-dunked the whole matter and got it all behind me because obviously, it upset me when it happened. They got rid of it very quickly. They were on top of it the whole way. I've dealt with mortgage companies in the past, and you could call them up and nobody knows anything. But HomeDirect was the exact opposite.
The whole process took three months. It got difficult for a while until they stood up on their hind legs and basically found out what actually happened. They were very patient with me and my attorney for about a month and a half. We couldn’t get it cleared. I stayed with HomeDirect through all of that. My personal broker should be promoted to train their people. He was that good. It was a complex case, but they wrapped it up.

I applied for a mortgage to buy a house and I ended up going with a veterans loan at HomeDirect. We were skeptical at first since it was an out-of-state lender but the rep was referred to us through our realtor and I ended up getting a really good rate. You get a rate and you get a lender credit based on what the rate is. That was really cool too because we ended up getting a lower rate than we can find anywhere plus a small lender credit on top of it and with no fees. It was great and it all ended up perfectly. We had a different lender in a previous purchase and I told their rep that I'd give her an option to meet or beat HomeDirect's rate, but she couldn't touch it.
HomeDirect's rep was always available to us, including nights and weekends, answering all of our questions and letting us know what we needed to provide. Everything was really simple. Also, the home we have is more affordable. We don't feel that we've thrown as much money away with interest because we have a lower rate. We still receive an email from HomeDirect every now and again. It feels like we're being well-serviced. If there's an issue and there's anything wrong, it's easy enough to reach out to their rep and talk with her about it. I've already recommended them several times.

He sent me out all the rates and the different options. He laid out what it would be and told me to just let him know. I told him what kind I wanted then he told me what paperwork I needed to provide to get the process going. It took about three weeks for everything to be finalized. Then somebody came out to the house. I signed the paperwork and it was done. But I still get calls from them asking to refinance and I wish they could get rid of that. I keep in regular contact with a particular HomeDirect loan officer because I've done so many other loans through him and had good experiences. I like his honesty. I've gone through a few different lenders just getting prices and I always got the feeling that they were not really having my best interest, whereas, every time I worked with the guy from HomeDirect, he was a straight-shooter, and he’d tell me the rates and lender credit he could give me. And every loan I've done, it worked out exactly as he said it would. I'm trying to get a lower interest rate recently and I applied for a VA Streamline with HomeDirect. So, I waited until I had the six payments to where I would be able to do the IRRRL. And then luckily, the rates were to the point where I was able to lower it by a bit and save some money.
I got a few emails showing the closing disclosures during the application. And the application and underwriting process went very smooth, and it was probably the smoothest from all the ones I've done with the loan officer because it was just a streamline and I never had to send a whole lot of documents in. I had to consent to the E-sign and look over the closing disclosures. It was extremely quick, and I was very happy with the experience. Based on the current environment with all the rates, I got a good deal with HomeDirect. I have a rental property loan with them as well. And to have both loans with the same company and the same website to be able to auto-pay is very smooth and convenient.

Once I was pre-approved, we continued to process the documentation, and then we had to go through the appraisal to see if appraisal checked out. The pre-approval took less than 72 hours, and then the underwriting process took three and a half weeks. After all of that was taken care of, we were finalized. I used one of the VA benefits in applying for a mortgage for a new home purchase. I'm a veteran and because I’m getting a little bit older, I wanted to be a bit more financially wise. I had to understand the loan process. I submitted a request through Rocket Mortgage. It was one of those where different quotes come out. HomeDirect contacted me and I told them that I was trying to find the best rate and they gave a quote. I told Eric if anybody beats his quote, I would go with them but if they match it, I would use him because he’s the originator of this loan offer. The only thing I cared about was the interest rate, the terms and that I wasn’t paying any point. I wasn’t worried about customer service or the loan being sold off. Eric understood that and got me what I wanted.
I wanted to see what the market can do for me and it took months. Some other agencies were coming in at eight percent. I told them I got a three and a quarter interest rate from HomeDirect Mortgage. They said it was impossible and that the market wasn’t sustainable for that. They warned me that I was going to get screwed over but I told them I would take Eric’s word for what it was. I told Eric that if it jumps to 6% like everybody else was telling me, he would lose my business. The other banks weren’t able to compete.
Only one other competitor was neck and neck with HomeDirect and the only reason they were able to compete was because the rep knew his business model. He understood what it was all about because he worked underneath Eric. He said he could beat Eric but there was something about the system being shut down and he wasn’t able to produce a quote. I told him I was locking in that day and if he couldn't do it, he couldn't do it.
I submitted over 20 applications and HomeDirect beat out everybody. They gave me the best interest rate and once the balls were rolling and I became serious, I inputted all my information and the financial documents into their system. I got the official quote and I locked in the price. Eric was true to his word and he showed superior business ethics in terms of producing what he said he could do. He closed the loan in 30 days and gave me three and a quarter. That's what I wanted and that's what I got.
But once Eric had locked me in, he transferred me off to Steven, a junior loan officer. He seemed unorganized and he wasn’t able to keep up with what was going on. I had to send him multiple emails and applications. I didn’t want my application to be dropped because he wasn't getting his information in correctly and I had to get in contact with Eric in the middle of the process. Steven might have just been a little under-experienced in learning the ropes but it didn't help when I was rushing to try and get everything done. It was a little frustrating on my end but he was still a good guy and once he gets everything down, he might be a bit better.
The underwriter also messed something up in the official contract and an addendum had to be done. It was 20 minutes from closing and I was biting my fingernails wondering whether it was going to happen or not, but it ended up going through. Other than those, everything was great. Eric was straightforward with me and the process was easy. I wanted a higher quality of life and I bought a very expensive house. HomeDirect made that happen and I've recommended Eric to numerous people because of his honesty and what he produced for me. What he was able to do within the marketplace was astonishing. If he says that he can get a certain interest rate then believe what it is.

I came across HomeDirect Mortgage when I was applying for a loan. It was online and if you submit basic information, it gives you six different quotes. They were one of the top quotes that came back and after discussing with them along with all the other mortgage companies or lenders that had contacted me, theirs had the most appealing offer. Plus, through consumer reviews and stuff online, they had fairly decent ratings. The loan was for a new home purchase. It started with speaking through the loan officer and understanding the details and sort of what HomeDirect was willing to offer.
They then sent some level of initial paperwork that I completed and they had to do some more checks on basic background information and credit to make sure that their offer is lined up with what I was bringing to the table. After they did that, they then put together a working document of terms. As that was getting approved on their site at their various screening levels, once that was all signed up on their site, they've done an actual agreement to be signed. We worked pretty diligently on the process for about two to three weeks in order to secure the loan. It's fairly fast and there's some time in there on my end of gathering all the various documents. HomeDirect was very helpful and responsive. The stuff that they laid out were all clear on what I needed to do. From time to time, there's a question or something that we didn't know how to deal with, they were able to help.
In talking to the loan officer, Timothy, one of the things that we talked about was down the road, is there a possibility to recast the loan so as to make a significant payment against the principal to reduce the monthly payment. And he said, "Yeah. That shouldn't be a problem. We have a department to handle that. Here's kind of the basic requirements that you'll need to meet." That was great, except when very recently, when I tried to recast the loan, I was then told by the department that I couldn't do it because of the type of loan, which is VA loan. That was a little frustrating because it would have been nice to know upfront.
But other than that, in terms of the process of getting the actual loan and walking us through all that, that was all fine. The loan officer was great and it was easy to work with him. However, I'd recommend to make sure that if there's any specific questions related to your case, make sure you walk through those in detail with whomever you're working with. Double-check that they've given you the right information.

It would be better if you can go to their website, put in information and do bills ahead. It would be nice to be able to schedule something out. I tried to do that on the phone but they were going to take the full amount. I wanted to schedule it, not have anything taken out right away. But I also liked that they said they would hold on to the mortgage so it won’t be sold to somebody else. The first time I had a mortgage on the house, it was sold to somebody else eight days later. With HomeDirect Mortgage, I don't have to worry that two months later I would be paying someone completely different. So far, I'm happy with HomeDirect. The rep sent that proposal over, I sighed it and she began pooling the credit and looking at what we had. She found a profit, sent the paperwork out to me and I sent it back. She looked at evaluating the property so she contacted the person who did the appraisal and had them update their appraisal.
The process has been real simple because I really didn't do that much and it has been a great deal. We've refinanced through HomeDirect to get a better rate. We went with a 30-year fixed program. We went on to LendingTree and got bombarded by a thousand telemarketers. The rep from HomeDirect was fine though and so was HomeDirect.

When I was tired of renting, I looked into getting a mortgage. My sister used HomeDirect before and she referred me to them. They were very helpful. I tried applying before but with another place and it was such a long and frustrating process. HomeDirect’s application process was quick and easy. We applied for an FHA loan and got the pre-approval. They asked for documentation, tax return stuff and then we get approved. Their rates were way lower than the others. It took 45 days from start to finish, and waiting on the appraisal took the longest.
Whenever I deal with their customer service, the dealing was good. They asked me for documentation right up front and I get whatever I needed. The rep was there to answer my questions anytime, even on his personal time. They were reliable and friendly. They provided great service and took care of me. Their courteousness and attention to detail stood out for me. It was a great experience and I would use them again if I had to buy another home or refer them to anybody that needs a loan.

I was tired of renting and I wanted to get my own place. I used LendingTree and HomeDirect was one of their referred lenders. I had a VA loan and they had a specialist for VA only. She was great and the bank worked great with me. I was deployed at that time, so all communication was done through email. The specialist was knowledgeable and had the exact answers the VA itself would give me.
I had a power of attorney and my father did all the paperwork signatures back home. The process was easy but there were mishaps. Some paperwork got lost in transmission sending but I got them resent quickly and easily. HomeDirect pre-approved me up to a certain amount when I got to go choose the house and once it started going, it was less than a month. I worked with two people primarily, an underwriter and the VA rep that assisted him. Both of them were very forthcoming and easy to work with. This was my first time home buying, so I repeated my questions a couple of times and they were patient with me. The rates and terms were not bad for my credit and I got no points so I was happy about that. I'm satisfied overall.

I was moving and needed to buy a new house. My realtor suggested HomeDirect along with a few others. I did a little research and called them up. I liked how they were doing business and decided to go with them. Their rates were fair too. They asked what my needs were and what I was looking to do. I told them I was going to use the VA loan then they sent me forms to get started. I sent them back and everything got approved. The application process started and I went along with that. They then helped along the way to make sure things got done and everything worked out.
The process was streamlined and straightforward. Although I didn’t have any huge hiccups, there were a few times when I had to send forms in and then they would need something else. The process took a little bit longer because we were in the middle of our move when we were doing this. Being able to pull over and scan documents as well as get documents were a little more difficult. But from the time we started to finish, it was maybe a month.
For the most part, they met our expectations. We were never in a situation where we were waiting for them to get something done. Their reps were all great. I was impressed by the amount of professionalism along with their level of knowledge of being personal. The balance of it all really played well together and then it was just really easy to work with them. I knew who I was talking to and they knew me so it was really easy to get them to want to help me so I can help them. They helped us get the house that we are living in now so it was definitely a win for us. I would definitely recommend at least considering HomeDirect.

I’ve had two mortgages with HomeDirect over the years. I previously worked with somebody from HomeDirect and had a good experience so I decided to reach out to her when I decided to purchase another property. When I first I worked with her, I found her through Zillow Mortgage. I let her know that since we had an incentive, we were thinking about moving out to San Francisco and I was looking to get pre-approved so that I can start aggressively looking for a place.
She had some existing information on me from the previous mortgage so she asked for a number of different items from me, which I’ve provided quickly. She got me pre-approved very quickly. I then started looking very aggressively at the housing market here. It’s not uncommon that there’d be 10 or 15 people betting on the same houses, sometimes even more. And so, I let her know it might be a while. She checked in with me every few weeks and I informed her when an offer had been accepted and we were under contract. She was excellent and definitely one of the best I’ve ever worked with.
I have loaned five or six properties and own three right now. Unfortunately, in the middle of the process the rates had fluctuated downward, but since I have a lock, there wasn’t a whole lot I can do. It was a little disappointing on that front, just when I started feeling that I was going to close on a loan which I was going to have to refinance after a very short period.
With the first loan that she did for me, we had a very aggressive close from 20 days and she was concerned about it. We missed it because the appraiser took forever to turnaround the appraisal and so we missed the closing date. My realtor had to pay the penalty to the seller. The recent loan went very quick and went faster than the first time. We could have closed very early but I explained that it made more sense to just close on time because I was moving out another property.
The underwriters come back and ask for a ton of things before I could get the final approval and sometimes the turnaround time is really ugly. The amount of time that it takes to find out what’s missing, have it communicated, turn it back in, have them evaluated sometimes is really long. But with HomeDirect, it was faster. The person I worked with was a lot more aware of what the underwriters ask for and avoided the back and forth that I’ve seen happen before.
Working with somebody who’s flaky and doesn’t know what they’re doing is a giant pain. But working with somebody who I could trust, I was confident that she would get things done and that there wouldn't be any issue. Dealing with somebody who was professional and knew what to do so that I could close a deal alleviated a lot of stress. I’ve recommended her to people. In fact,my realtor has her info and has been in touch with her. But the most important thing is the homeowner rate. Having someone that I trust who says that they could do the deal is important. However, if the rates are not competitive, then I’d tell others to go elsewhere. They’ve been excellent. However, it would really be nice if they could be paperless. It’s such a drag to receive a paper statement which is a total waste of money.

I bought a new home and I didn't want to go through a traditional brick and mortar bank for my mortgage. I found HomeDirect and I had some initial email exchange with one of their representatives about the order of things and what steps I had to take. I am very impatient when it comes to any sort of application process, but the online application process of HomeDirect seemed pretty easy and was relatively painless. And the process was completed in a very reasonable amount of time.
My rep was Nate and he was very responsive. Even if I sent him questions after hours, he responded in the evening. I didn't have to do a lot of work and he just really helped to guide me directly. He wasn't the first person I talked to as I probed around and talked to some other folks. But Nate seemed to be the most trustworthy and was also easy to keep along with. This was my first mortgage process and with HomeDirect, I have a higher APR than I would have about paying my own mortgage insurance and I'm happy with that.

I had my mortgage with my original financial institution and I got my loan from when I bought my home. Then it was sold to another company and that company also owns HomeDirect Mortgage. I have an FHA and they had a streamline FHA available to knock my PMI down. I went with them and did a small re-fi, pulling just enough money to get my PMI down. HomeDirect had a better product to offer in my re-fi with the same company that I was already with. They reached out to me and they were great to work with.
The process was a streamline FHA, which was kind of adjusting what I already had. I didn't have to pull a whole lot of documentation together, where I worked in, bank statements and all that. They pretty much handled everything and they just sent me the documents to sign. I went through them and did my due diligence. It was a very easy process. I signed five documents and I was done.
The guy that I dealt with at HomeDirect was great. He was on top of it the whole time. If I had any questions, he always answered me back right away. He sent everything in a timely fashion like he said he would and executed it very well. It was, pretty much, a flawless transition. Although I wish my rates would be a little bit lower. But they got the PMI down, they got my monthly payment down and I didn't lose the three years I'd already paid in.
HomeDirect freed up a little bit of extra cash every month and makes it really easy to make payments online. They should just keep doing what they are doing. As long they keep the same customer service that the way they did to me, they shouldn't have a problem. I'd definitely recommend them. They were easy to work with and they had good customer service. They're straight up with you as far as giving you the information to get your processes done. As long as you give them what they asked of you that they need, then they're going to proceed with it.

I started looking for mortgage back in April then I refinanced in July. HomeDirect was the first company that called me but they were the fourth company that I dealt with. They took three days to respond and I had cogently resent certain things. They were the only ones who were willing to work with me. My representative told me the things that I needed and once they were sent to him, he took care of the rest. My interaction with the representative was one of the better experiences I had with HomeDirect. I dealt with two people and they were professional about everything and were quick to respond. They returned my emails and answered my questions.
Everything was done online other than having to have the notary come to our house. I also had a direct number to the representative but once the process started, everything was returned in the email immediately. It was an easy, worry-free process. I got a great rate because I went VA. The VA funding fee was a little steep and my closing cost took a huge chunk of my refinance. But in the situation that I was in, it was something that I had to go with. HomeDirect has impacted my life in a positive way. I was able to set-up my new mortgage and got rid of all debt, credit cards and even paid my vehicles off. I was able to help my oldest son in college as well. I told my sister about our experience with HomeDirect because she hasn't refinanced her home yet.

I needed a mortgage to buy a house. HomeDirect had the lowest mortgage rate at the time they were offering it to us. I went through Zillow and the agent chose HomeDirect, they were offering 3.25%. He asked me to turn in my paperwork like my VA, stuff about home, how much I made and my Social Security. The pre-approval process took a few days and it took two months to close everything which I liked. My loan officer was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He put me at ease a lot of time. My real estate agent though would kind of set me straight on what this guy was telling me.
When I tell others I have 3.25, they're all, “What?” and they tell me that was excellent. The only thing that worries me about that is I don’t know if I could ever refinance it if I ever wanted to because I don't know if I'd ever find anything that would beat that. Everything has been good so far and I would definitely recommend HomeDirect to anybody else who's looking around.

I wanted to get new furniture, get the house painted and home repairs. We wanted money out of the house and not out of our savings. We dealt with an individual before named David that handled the mortgage for us with another company, and we were pleased with his service. When we called him, he had moved to HomeDirect so we went with him. He told us what we needed then I put it together and faxed it to him. He locked in a better rate for us and we had to wait a period of time because we had a hot water heater that went off which damaged and we could not close until the repairs were done on that specific room.
But other than that, it was a very easy process. Then someone came to the house to sign the closing documents. We were very comfortable with David who was very responsive. We got the repairs done to our house and I got some new furniture that I wanted after 27 years. And since they had pretty good rates, I went with them. The application process went smoothly. They told me exactly what I needed and they ended up running the whole process and made sure they got my information. They got mostly my information through the current mortgage that I had set up before from Midland Bank, which they were affiliated with.
In addition, the people I talked to were really nice. They were very clear as far as everything that I needed to bring and needed to have. The only part that I didn't like was the signing. I applied online and got a refinance with HomeDirect Mortgage December last year. The entire application process took around two to five months. The rep that I interacted with was okay. I told them to do the mortgage payment through my checking account and it took me two weeks to redo it. Then they found out again it was opened and I had to fax them. I hated it. Nevertheless, everything is all set now and it’s good. I hope they will pay my real estate tax. The rate and the terms of the mortgage are okay, although it’s higher. It’s 3.5 or something and I used to have 3.25. This is my digit in the house because they refinanced me then they didn’t do the 3.25. They raised it up to 3 point something.
My experience with HomeDirect Mortgage is all right but not perfect. During the first month, they didn’t pay my taxes, which is included. I had to resubmit it and fax it, and now I have the bills from I don’t know and everything’s fine. I have my taxes sent to me and they’re supposed to say that it’s included in my mortgage. I refinanced it because my wife died and I told them to take my wife’s name off. They said all the way, "You could go take your wife's name." What I hate is to refinance. When your wife dies, mortgage people should never do that. They should take off her name on a mortgage but they said, “No, you have to do the refinance,” and it’s ridiculous, that’s why I don’t like it.

I wanted a house and I had the option of either making a substantial down payment or not. I found that HomeDirect had a very good rate when I bought my first house from the Bank of Kansas City Financial. Bank of Kansas City Financial eventually rebranded itself as HomeDirect so when I got my most recent mortgage, I used the same people from the previous mortgage.
I ended up getting three mortgages. The first one was the standard VA first time homebuyer. But then I wanted to sell that house and buy a new one. I refinanced the first house to a traditional mortgage, which it was on for about a month before it got sold. I purchased the second house with an original VA loan as well. It's the third mortgage, even though the third is the original VA loan because I converted the second one in the process.
I would have used Laurie, the mortgage broker I used from HomeDirect if she works for anybody. She's very responsive. All the paperwork that I need to fill-out, she tells me exactly what I was supposed to do. She was on some Hawaiian vacation and she sent me a pre-approval letter. I couldn't believe she did that so, wherever she would go, I would go. She's also extremely sweet and very polite. She was able to do pretty much everything I had asked even though when you're getting a mortgage to get a third mortgage is an unusual transaction. She didn't act like it's unusual at all. She did it very quickly and professionally. The closing was on time and the funding came in on time. She did extremely well throughout the entire three transactions.
I'm extremely comfortable with her. The very first time, I got a referral to her from LendingTree. I originally started talking to her because she had the best deal. There's one other that came in a little bit better later on in the process but I was so comfortable working with her, I didn't really care. Securing the loan wasn't terribly difficult. I'm very organized and so is Laurie. I'm a sole proprietor and she said, "Hey, you have set of two years of auto tax returns." I sent them right over. It takes people usually a minute to get to but I had them because I have very meticulous tax records.
Sometimes, being a sole proprietor makes it difficult to get a mortgage. But for me, it wasn't a problem because she knew exactly what documentation the underwriter needed and I have all of it. Her assistant sold out all the paperwork and all I did was click to sign. For some of the mortgage loan itself, along with the sales paperwork, that came like a notary and physically comes to your house. It is hundreds of forms and it takes two hours to finish. The process could have gone a lot faster. We dragged it out a little bit because we wanted the refinance to go through before the second loan came up. If I wanted to turn the transaction in two weeks, we could have done it. We ended up taking six weeks just because that's what works for everybody.
The mortgage I got was very competitive. The first time, I really paid careful attention to rates and points, the lender's credit and all that stuff, by the second and third time I was doing this, I would have just taken whatever Laurie says. She said that the rate was x, then I would have just gone with it. Unless it was something higher than the unqualified rates. The B paper rates that are advertised on the internet was really out of whack. But if it's in range of a competitive rate and I like them enough, I would have gone through with it.

A friend who's in the mortgage industry advised me to go to Zillow and look for a mortgage through mortgage companies on there, and I came across HomeDirect Mortgage. HomeDirect had close to 1,980 reviews and they had an overall rating of 5 stars. When I contacted them and started working with the loan officer, I was sold on the idea that they don’t sell their loans, which was what already happened to my loan once. They also focused more on servicing the loans and keeping them for life. As a result, that helped keep their initial cost of doing the loan low. They did the whole loan for around $1,000 including all the closing cost and I also dropped my rate by a quarter percent and got cash out so it was a very good deal.
Applying online was very easy and the entire process from application to underwriting took three weeks. It was very quick and efficient. The rep and I interacted mainly through phone and emails. He was very prompt with any kind of replies and he even made himself available on Saturdays. He was very available and always very courteous. I dealt with a second person, who was from the underwriting department, and he was also very professional. Everything was simple and HomeDirect made the payments easy.
HomeDirect also got a very good up-to-date website. I had Direct Pay set up on it and it works very well. And if I ever need to log in or look at anything, it's all there available for me so I don’t have to call any kind of a customer system’s line. It's self-taught and it has assisted me because I've been able to complete my business in a very quick and efficient manner and it doesn’t take up my personal time unreasonably. Our situation was very unique and with a certain legal requirements. PNC had a note on this investment property before and they were very neglectful in telling me what was still needed and required whether it was a surprise or not, and they expected me to know what I'm supposed to do. I was comfortable enough with the rep who assisted me that I went ahead and got a refi. We spoke on a need-to-need basis. And the rate they've given me was fair. The process took about a month which was fast. I didn't need to go to an actual office to do all the paperwork since everything was done online.

I did a VA loan with HomeDirect Mortgage to lower my interest rate and my payment. I had dealt with HomeDirect before and I still feel that they are open and that they use all the available tools in my favor. But I also went to the web and got a few lenders that made offers. And none was greater than the one that I got from HomeDirect. I got a great deal, a good rate from them so I stayed with them. The online application process was simple and fast. And due to the fact that I had previously secured a loan through them, it wasn't necessary for me to go through all the steps that I would have gone through with a new lender. And so, I am very pleased. Overall, it took 40 days at the most and all of my dealings were with the officer. The facts that he laid out were legit and he didn't try to sell me on anything that I didn't want. I didn't want to go back with a 30-year, so he worked with me going with a 24-year. I commended him for that.

We refinanced to get a swimming pool through HomeDirect Mortgage. They had good rates. I went online to apply and their process was smooth and a lot less of a hassle compared to other lenders. The application process took about a month and a half. There's a lot of new wannabes that tend to want to do different things but they couldn't give me an estimate. Now that HomeDirect Mortgage committed to a loan, until when I finish, then I can get a new loan. I spoke with a rep who was very prompt, courteous and if I have a question or anything, he would be very responsive and he would take care of it. I was completely happy. On the other hand, there were times when they kept wanting some different little forms to prove things. At the same time I had some different loans and tried to show that it was cancelled so, the loan didn't bill through or didn't exist. Overall, I had a good experience with HomeDirect Mortgage.

We've had several mortgage applications with HomeDirect and recently, we applied for a new home purchase and ended up going with FHA. The personality of Nate, the person that I went with, made me go with HomeDirect. He was honest and upfront in telling me how things were run, what to expect and what to expect next, what I need, and the possibility of getting the loan or not.
We first pre-qualified and then we had to provide all the documents when we went through underwriting to do the loan. He would contact me if there was any that was needed and it would be sent out immediately. Things took a couple of weeks at most and everything happened the way he had described it. It feels good to have somebody that is looking out for me. I will give HomeDirect a call again to give them a shot with another home that I'm going to purchase because it's a new build.

HomeDirect Mortgage was more understanding with me being a retired military. I have another house in Missouri that I used the VA loan on also and other places don’t know that we can have more than one house. I was looking into getting a mortgage to buy a new house and I ended up with a VA loan. The loan application took two months which was fast and wasn't very hard at all. Steve, the rep, was supportive and encouraging. I was impressed by his confidence in knowing he could get the deal done. The rate I received was good as well. Working with HomeDirect has impacted life positively. I would tell others to give them a shot.

I was referred to a lender but they didn't have the license to work with me in our state so, I was referred from that lender over to HomeDirect. The application was done online and all that was needed was there. They explained it all and it was pretty easy. There weren't any hoops that we had to jump through. Being a first time home buyer, I was very pleased the process. We were really impressed with Chad, our main point of contact, as he was dealing with customers that were not in Oklahoma. I thought that that may have been a little more difficult. But for the most part, he made it seem pretty easy. He was very responsive to any questions because he understood the process that we were going through. There was something that wasn't brought up by our Realtors to him, and he made sure to address that right away.
We are also happy with the interest rate overall. Our process took three months which was pretty long so, we didn't close within a quick amount of time. The rate didn't get high where we thought that it was not going to work for us. As far as staying on time, everything was dealt with within the time that it needed to be dealt with. If you're looking for somebody that is going to get you the best rates regardless of they're in the area or not, go with HomeDirect because they are more customer-service-oriented.

I saw the idea that the VA loans were on a verge of the low rate and there were a lot of lenders with HomeDirect Mortgage being one of them that would allow me to do that so I applied for a VA loan. When it came back, it was a good deal. I received several phone calls from people and Ryan was the most straightforward. He was easy to work with and very knowledgeable so my interaction with him made me go with HomeDirect Mortgage. I filled out the application and provided them with bank statements, a copy of my mortgage from Bank of America and a few other things, and my veteran information. That got everything started and they gave me pre-approval. And then from there, we set up the appraisal and they started asking for different paperwork, price factors. We all had the value we needed and then I got approved, and the end of the road to a mortgage.
The online application process was easy and straightforward. A lot of these things tend to be stressful no matter what but this was easy to work with and Ryan was there. He answered any question I had and was very responsive. A lot of times when you're working with people you talk to somebody and then the next thing you know you're trying to get responses and some help and you're talking to other people. But with HomeDirect every time I needed some help or direct contact, either by phone call or by email or text, Ryan was there to walk me through a lot of things so it really worked well. The whole application took five to six weeks. HomeDirect called me when everything was going to underwriting and helped me set up. And once it went through underwriting they helped me set up the closing.
And at the closing it turned out that there was a problem because my previous mortgage people had already paid taxes for the quarter so I contacted Ryan and found out of the other contractors, Brian. He set me up with the online financing company and we worked it all out and the 3-party conversation. So they helped me through all and that was perfect. After the closing they provided me with all the paperwork I needed and helped me to set up my online payment and my mortgage. The customer service for setting up my loan was a breeze. They sent me a link in the email then I clicked on that and it took me right to my mortgage, which was really great. I didn't have to enter any information or do anything like that. Once I clicked that link it brought me to my mortgage accounts and I set up my banks and do my payments so it worked perfectly.
It was done well although I got a little frustrated that my appraisal took a while to get back. But as I researched it I found out that most VA appraisals take a very long time. The rate and term of the mortgage I received were perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything. They showed me some options that I didn't know existed, which turned to be very nice for me post-financially, and using my mortgage payments and sitting into a mortgage product was much better than the one I was in. HomeDirect Mortgage has a great and knowledgeable mortgage staff and great customer service.

I copied and pasted and got that done to them. They asked for something new and I gave it to them. They communicated very well and it was great. The process, from application to underwriting, was fast and took 40 days. I purchased quite a few homes over the years and this was easy and we closed on time. Plus, the rate and the terms were very competitive. Also, their reps were very responsive to answer my questions via email, or when I placed the call, they answered and responded quickly. There was a little time difference as they were in another state but they went pretty fast.
I worked with Matthew and I was impressed by his honesty and willingness to work with us in getting this VA loan done. However, he could have given me the complete list of what he needed because I asked originally if he needed a certain document, and he said no. Then at the end, we were scrambling because underwriting wanted it. One is always concerned when doing a loan over the Internet and out of state. But my bank didn’t process it with the check number and the bank statement and they needed to see the actual check number on the bank statement.

The offer was accepted and I bought a new house. The rates were phenomenal and the whole process beginning from speaking with Andrew to moving into the house was about 30 days.
When I spoke with Andrew and we've done the preapproval, we had been building our credit up to the levels where I wanted it and he assured me that the numbers would not go down because he had all the credit for our mortgage. But I watch my credit scores religiously and it dropped about 17 points. I don’t know if that was his fault, but that was the only disappointing about the whole experience. So then I would start doing my checklist. I got the term and then I would confirm it through his secretary. Then they said they needed something else so I’d give it to him and he got it.
It was just so smooth. I was blown away. It worked out indeed. With Quicken Loans, they didn't get back with me. I understand people are busy. But I don’t have a problem with the secretary from HomeDirect Mortgage. The emails were so fast and I would confirm it. I'm not dealing with Quicken Loans anymore because the guy from HomeDirect was awesome.
Also, the rate was very simple. This is the amount of money that you’re going to have per month. Even at that, when I did that, I’m a 100 percent disabled from the military. You get a lot of money off from county taxes for your home. So it worked out. I was hoping to get an extra $100 off but has nothing to do with the one I spoke with. It has to do with the country catching up and that’s eventually going to happen. So instead of $1,900 a month, it’s going to be about to be changed to $1,800 a month through escrow. Everything was just awesome. I’ve already recommended HomeDirect to other family members.

We borrowed money and then the next thing we knew, the bills added up to a lot at the end of the month on our payment and we got ourselves in a bit of a financial problem. My wife didn't like getting a mortgage, but it's either that or I would file bankruptcy. I told her that we'll take care of our responsibilities and not buy anything anymore until we're ready to retire and get this loan paid down, which is what we're doing. We started our loan through Quicken Loans and the rep promised an amount that was excessive of what we said, so they ended up getting $500 out of me. I found that Wells Fargo was going to offer me a lower interest, so I cancelled Quicken and started with Wells Fargo.
We were almost closed when Julie contacted me through HomeDirect Mortgage and offered something which I thought was going to be a lot less, but all the other bills still ended up costing us almost the same amount for the loan. I went with HomeDirect, though if Wells Fargo had given me a lower interest, then I would have stayed with them. Also, Wells Fargo wanted to charge me the APR of what they were going to charge because I was getting the loan on the amount of borrowing from the cost of the loan itself. I was going to charge that on top of the existing loan which would have been more money. I didn’t have to pay that through HomeDirect because they were a mortgage company, not a bank.
HomeDirect quoted us the lowest interest rate, which was only a couple of points lower than Wells Fargo's, but for 30 years, that would mean a lot of money at the end of the finance on our final payment. The lower interest took care of a lot of bills, so now I can almost double pay my home loan per month. That’ll cut the interest down a lot the first five years if they take a lot of interest, especially if they're going to not allow us to write our interest off on our taxes if the bill passes.
Our termite inspection was over a certain so many days and I had to get another one done. Within a few days, I'm not going to have termites, so I had to pay to have the new termite inspector come and redo the inspection even though I had one through Wells Fargo. I'm trying to hurry and get the amount down as much even though we've only started the loan process. HomeDirect was quick because we had so much already ready so they didn’t have to wait around before I could put anything. Plus we did a lot of signatures on e-file through their loan application which was easy.
Julie did an outstanding procedure with our loan and walked us through it well. If I had a question, she'd contact me, tell me what to do and explain things really well. She was quick on answering me back even when she was on vacation with her husband. If I had a question that she didn’t quite know, she'd double check to make sure her answer was correct and she'd get right back with me the next day. Anything she said, she stepped through versus the guys over at Wells Fargo and Quicken Loans. She was thorough with what she needed to explain to us for us to feel comfortable enough to go with the loan. I was happy with her and I'd get a loan again for her because she was a topnotch salesperson.
When I made my first payment, I wanted to go ahead and put it towards the principal, but HomeDirect put it towards my initial payment when my payment wasn’t due. When I made the second payment, I looked to see and asked why they have the phone number for us to say where we want to put our money, yet they put it where they want. I was irritated, but then the rep asked if I wanted him to change it. I said no because if they did that, then they'd have to go back and reimburse me for the interest that I'm being charged because it would have been $1400 less.
I'm computer literate so it was easy going through and getting my payments done or even over the phone because I can make a payment over the phone if I wanted. HomeDirect made my monthly payments a lot easier and I feel like I lost a lot of weight off my shoulders. I'm glad it's done and over with and I have a little extra money at the end of the month, which I could either pay towards my loan or put into the bank for a little savings.

I was doing a VA cash-out for a home improvement and it led me to apply for a mortgage to refinance. During the process of getting my mortgage, I used Lending Tree and put my info in there. 30 seconds later, I got inundated with calls so I sift through and find out which one has the best rates for their particular program. HomeDirect gave me the best rate and I ended up going with their VA loan. Their process was easier than getting the original mortgage and the rep I was setting up everything with was very responsive and quick. I did everything online and then one day, somebody shows up to my house with the hardcopy then I signed them and got a check a week later. Everything was streamlined and I would recommend them.

Working with HomeDirect was good, simple and hassle-free. I needed to refinance and their representative was extremely helpful. I went with a conventional, 30-year fixed loan and the process obtaining it was very easy. The agent set up everything and walked us through each of the steps and what paperwork we needed. The guidance I received was a high level one and the rate and terms of the mortgage were competitive.
