HomeDirect Mortgage contacted me and I refinanced with them. I got an email from them and they confirmed with the current mortgage company I had that this was something that was on the up and up. From start to finish, the loan process took six weeks and it was fairly easy. I just filled out some paperwork and mainly everything was done through the internet. There were a couple of phone calls, some secure messages that I had to download then I signed e-docs. Then I had a notary come to the house to notarize the specific documents. My loan person was fantastic and super-responsive. Anytime I had a question, I emailed her and I always got a response within 12 hours, even with our time difference. She always gave me the correct information and called me if it was more detailed than an email could handle. Their communication was excellent, timely and hands down the best I’ve ever dealt with.

I was in a position of moving from a rental home to a more permanent home. I applied for a mortgage with HomeDirect because of the attractiveness of rate. We had a loan originator who took point on the entire process, communicated exceptionally well and worked through all of the requirements. It was exceptionally well-managed. They were efficient and effective. It was a very smooth process.

I got a 30-year fixed loan from HomeDirect to buy a house and the process went well, which is a nice thing. The individual I dealt with was more on top of things. I was most impressed with his response time and that he wasn’t hard to get a hold of. HomeDirect is a good company to work with and my experience has been satisfying.

I was moving and buying a new house so I applied for a mortgage. I spent a lot of time, probably way more than the average consumer, talking to different mortgage companies and going back and forth saying, “Okay, these companies can give me this amount with this many points. Can you match it or beat it?” HomeDirect Mortgage wasn’t on my radar until they contacted me through the LendingTree application and right off the bat they beat everything else that I had found. I was able to get the best price and rates and I ended up going with a 30-year fixed loan program. It was easy as I have done it before so I was familiar with the process which took a couple of weeks. Their reps were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They asked for the information that they needed to get the loan and I provided all that stuff. I highly recommended them to a couple of other people since I've bought my home.

I was trying to get my house payment a little lower. I had called a couple of places and since we had a VA loan, I saw that the rates had dropped. And ironically, as I was talking to my husband about it and calling a few places, a gentleman from Bank of Oklahoma called us and said nothing would change except my servicer for the mortgage. They simply transferred all of my information to HomeDirect since it was through the same financial institution.
The person that we were in contact with was very good about calling us back with any questions we had. He would verify the answers through email so, we had a backup. All of the paperwork that we were sent was done online, and we got to do an e-signature. We didn't have to go anywhere and even when we closed, someone came to our house. I didn't have to go through a whole lot to refinance and I was very happy with the process. I like the ease of it and it went very quickly and smoothly. It was done within a month from start to finish. I had a great experience with HomeDirect Mortgage.

We went with HomeDirect Mortgage when we moved and we had a very easy experience. They were the first ones to call me and they offered me a low rate and everybody else that called said that what I was offered was an impossible rate. I said, "Well, what can you guarantee me that what you tell me is true?" And they couldn't. So, I stayed with HomeDirect. They made it very easy for us everything was taken care of, be it email and through the mail. Their reps did a great job. The service was minimal and to the point and we got exactly what we needed every time we asked. It was a very easy experience.

I was going to purchase a new home and I went through several credit unions and other banks until my friends referred me to a banker from HomeDirect Mortgage. I called him and he's professional, supportive and helpful. He told me to apply online and gave me all the information and whenever I write him emails he always responds within two minutes. He encouraged me along the way and whenever I have anything confusing he always gave me quick answers and accurate information. I feel like working with him may save me a lot of time and effort. Plus he offered a good rate. I got a 30 year fixed rate loan. Jim and I worked together and closed the house in one month which was quick. I'm in the military service and we waited a few more days to close it but everything went perfectly. This is my first house and I like it. The interest rate and the service are good.

I wanted to buy a house and got a fixed loan from HomeDirect. It was first done through LendingTree, and then the mortgage rep contacted me on the phone. Home Direct had the best rates and programs, in other words, enough peace. And so, I submitted to them all of the documents. The process was all done online. It was very heavy on documentation but it's as easy applying for a mortgage could be.
The experience was much better because there was very in-depth knowledge of the entire industry. My rep, Noah, held my hand through the process and wasn’t pushy at all. I didn’t go with the mortgage right away, I was trying to rate shop and every other company called me like a billion times basically harassing me. Noah knew that he had the best options, which I didn’t know yet at the time, but he just waited till I responded to him. And whether I went with him or not, he didn’t make it seem like it was the end of the world. It was a very easy process to work with him.

I started refinancing with HomeDirect three months ago and we managed to finalize everything in a couple of weeks. The rep who called me was intelligent and well-spoken. Most people are pushy but he essentially said, "Would you like to save some money?" And I was like, "Who doesn't?" And then, I was resisting to some degree, but it was a great sales job. HomeDirect has been efficient, effective, and convenient.

We got a VA loan with HomeDirect Mortgage for a new home. Our score was below the 620 but they took the other two scores and worked out so that we could get the 620. They were willing to work with us. We had to do all the paperwork, submit everything that was necessary and provide the various certificates for VA. They tried to answer all our questions and they tried to be there when we needed them. It was fine except for one piece but there’s not a whole lot I can do about that portion. I was supposed to get money back at closing and I talked about it, e-mailed them several times and everybody was on the same page. When it came down to the final documentation they didn’t do it right and it was too late to try and change it at that point because I had to close on Monday so I was a little perturbed by that. But overall HomeDirect has been effective other than the closing cost issue.

Our experience with Home Direct Mortgage was great! This was my wife and my first time buying a home and Steve ** made the process as seamless as possible. The only downsides were having to upload our sensitive documents through somewhat insecure Gmail and/or Google Docs. This made us uncomfortable but we continued and we're happy overall with the company.

I was interested in buying a house and I was referred to HomeDirect Mortgage by a friend. My HomeDirect representative was really great at answering questions. He was able to get me a better rate and just explained things a lot better than the other lender that I had spoken with previously. That was very important and I appreciated his help. I was actually out of state when he did the closing and he was able to coordinate someone coming to my location and completing all the paperwork, and just made the whole package really easy. HomeDirect got me a better interest rate and I look forward to using them again. I've also referred three friends to them and will continue to do so.

I made the choice to do a refi with HomeDirect because of the rates that they had available. Based on the information I had and the information that they gave me, it was easy to get access to the rates that I wanted. The experience I had was very easy and it’s a mixture of communication with the mortgage lender personally and the system that they use to capture and gather data. Plus, their rep was always available, very open and proactive to anything I needed. Their loan process was fine and good as well. Everything takes time these days and they were pretty clear on how long it was going to take and it matched up with that. They were very easy to work with and they're a great place to get a loan.

HomeDirect's rate is competitive, but the process is very tedious and they are not so flexible. I’m not comfortable with them but I didn’t have an option then. Somehow I completed but I nearly cried whenever I send an email and they don’t respond. The reps were okay but a little bit harsh. Noah, whenever I call or return a text message, was so harsh. But at the time I don’t have any option because I’m already bent into the process. I must send a word to closure one week before so that time, I don’t have any other way. I do have my backup plan to go with other local lenders but I didn’t do that because everything was already set up. Even if one of them asked me to refer, I won't refer them. Two of my friends asked me, I didn’t refer them. I called them even then I referred them to my local guy that I’m talking about as a second option for me. They went with them and they closed it also two weeks back.

I was buying a house and I applied for a VA loan with HomeDirect. They seemed to have the best interest rates and lowest fees. I saw it online and talked to a couple of the lenders a few times. It seemed like it was pretty streamlined too. I spoke to them a couple of times on the phone but most of our communication was via email. The process was much slower than any other loans though. The main thing was just waiting for the VA inspection to get done and everything was fixed from there. I was approved for the loan within a month-and-a-half, working mostly on the paperwork back-and-forth because mine was a unique situation where I’m divorced and bought my house with my ex-wife. So we were waiting for additional verification for a permit. But everything went well and it was an awesome experience.

HomeDirect Mortgage was recommended by a friend but if I had a choice again, I would not go the same route. We purchased a new home and got a traditional 30-year VA loan. All the documents were in place and it was just a matter of the funding side. It was over-the-top with some of the employment verification considering we've had to break in employment history in 15 years. This process was a lot more cumbersome than our previous home purchases and we've owned four other houses. On a positive note, my rate was very good and I was happy with the rate I got.
There was a communication with the mortgage manager. He thought that we were closing on the original date. Everybody else was tracking to include the documentation that was forwarded to him and that we were closing four days early. Still, we ended up closing a couple of days late. I was unhappy with that. Then we found out that the mortgage can't be paid in half-payments each month which was annoying. Every other house that I've ever owned, I've been able to send in the first half of it, then the second half.
HomeDirect's rep did what I would expect he should have done, but I definitely ended on a bad note with him as I had to pay out-of-pocket for a week in Washington because the home closing was delayed. Also, there were interface issues with their portal that they should have already adopted into their mortgage user interface for payments. And I've got my fingers crossed that my mortgage will be sold to another company that had more of those normal features. If a friend asks me, I'd tell them to go to USAA.

I wanted a house and when I googled interest rates, HomeDirect had the lowest and they had good reviews. Their rep, Chen, was a noble guy and he knew what he was doing. He told me what rates they can give me and how quickly they could move. I told him I knew what I was doing and asked him for the paperwork they needed, which I gave to him. He had all his stuff in order and we closed. I needed it closed quickly due to the market and I also told him I got my pre-approval letter in the mail. We went on their contract that would be closed in 25 days, and it was ready by day 20. Our business transaction was direct and quick, and HomeDirect is a very good internet lender. I'd recommend and use them again.

I did a refi with HomeDirect through my broker. He used to work for them and he handled everything so I didn’t even know who had my mortgage until I got my first bill. But I’m happy with them and I'd be a lot happier if my payments would go through because they tend to take forever to do so. They have issues with electronic payments. I've only had one since the refi but it didn’t post so they called me and said I didn’t make the payment. I told them I did and then they said they found it and fixed something and that it wouldn’t happen again. This is the second mortgage I did with HomeDirect since I had my new home mortgage with them and then when I refied, it got sold back to them.

He responded at nights, weekends, holidays and even a month after the mortgage closed. We contacted him regarding VA benefits and he jumped all over it. We bought a new house and HomeDirect got referred to us by a family member. We applied for a conventional mortgage loan program with 20% down and they were great at the beginning. We dealt with Kyle and he was pretty good and super responsive. He communicated even after hours. But when we reached out to him multiple times because we couldn't figure out why we weren't closing, it took days for us to get answers and we were really frustrated. We were more than qualified with any lender we would have chosen and we were two seconds from switching when all of this went down. In the end, we closed over a month late, which was disappointing, and we don't know if it was in part due to the builder or the lender since they blamed each other. But according to our realtor, it was a little bit of both, with the builder and the lender not getting stuff done and not communicating.

I found HomeDirect Mortgage through Zillow’s mortgage app. They were well-rated and their rates were the most competitive. It was a first time for me, but HomeDirect's loan process was easy and things with them went smoothly. I also had a great experience working with their rep. I applied for a VA loan and HomeDirect managed to handle all the extra steps that were required.
However, because I had an unusual homeowner’s insurance policy, HomeDirect took a while to go over the entire policy. From what I have been told, it’s a pretty standard policy and the different thing about it was the way it’s paid. It’s one where you pay your premium upfront but it’s a lifetime premium instead of paying year after year. So, I ended up getting my closing disclosures the last minute. And in my state, I had to sign it 72 hours in advance of closing. Still, I’d recommend HomeDirect. I bought the place and I’m living there now.

I needed to apply for a mortgage to purchase an investment property. HomeDirect had low fees and good closing credits. I got the standard investment loan from them. But the loan process was very difficult. It's my third investment property purchase and they were asking for information above and beyond the original things that they have asked on a weekly basis. They had also audited me since closing on the loan. The bank representatives were fine, but the underwriters they used were the big pain in the rear. Overall, HomeDirect was friendly and easy to work with. But I won't go with them again despite their low rates and fees.

I was doing a VA refinance and HomeDirect was the first lender that responded to me. It was a really long and tedious process. I dealt with the HomeDirect reps mostly through email or text and when I spoke with them to a few times, they were all nice. We've been paying a mortgage for 11 years and never missed a payment and yet we have to provide for our first child to get this loan. We had to do a pest inspection for VA and that didn’t really go very well. That was a hiccup we had in terms of who they referred us to and although they cleared it up, it was pretty bad during that time.
Also, I felt I was ignored when I asked if I could have my solar rolled into the loan. They said that was a possibility but as I got towards the end, it was suddenly very convenient that they only appraised my house. I told them the VA person only appraised the house for 25 more than what we were needing to pay the mortgage off. I said something about that but they didn’t seem to care much about it. When I said in the end that I wanted to roll the solar we talked about, they said it was too late and that I have to pay all kinds of fines. I don’t know if that was a communication error but that part didn’t please me. Other than those, HomeDirect is a good service. I've only paid one payment and we’re still catching up, but I’d tell others that HomeDirect is fine. They just have to make sure they’re very clear about what they want.

I was friends with somebody that worked over at HomeDirect. I got referred through there and one of my neighbors had used them. Their loan process was nice and easy. Everything seemed to be online so it was a whole lot easier than having to go into the bank and sign all the paperwork. Their reps also kept me informed with everything that was going on and I knew well what I was doing.
I did a cash out refi but I wasn't very happy with the appraiser. It was one of those deals where it didn’t screw up the refi so I didn’t push it. From what I've heard, even if I contested it, it’s not going to do anything because of the regulations. But I have another friend who is an appraiser that looked at the documents and said that it was all wrong. He said that the guy did the numbers backwards so it’s the luck of the draw. My house was appraised about $40,000 less than what it should have been. It was a big jump but I have enough equity in the house to where it didn’t hurt the loan. Other than that, I'd recommend HomeDirect to a friend.

HomeDirect Mortgage was a referral. I bought a new house and got a 30-year fixed loan from them. However, the process was excruciatingly painful. They were able to secure a good price but the communication was exceptionally poor and they did not work on our timeline. It was my first time buying a home so all these things that kept coming at us at the last minute were seemingly things that if someone told us to prepare for or explained the process, we would not have been frustrated and upset. As someone that’s client facing, it’s their job to communicate what the process is to us above all else and it should be experienced as good as it can be. It was just falling down on its face left and right.
We move internationally. We transfer all of our money from international bank accounts and every time something happened, it seemed as though they needed to prove the money was ours. The fact that it kept coming up as a surprise was a massive issue. Our lender missed some timeframes which caused us to have some delays. That was a bit of a shock and an annoyance to us and I couldn’t get the agent's internal team to prioritize stuff.
It was my wife’s 30th birthday the day that we closed. We were out of town because we had already planned it and had no idea that things were going to push by a week or so and he was like, ”Well, we deal with a lot of mortgages every day so I can’t guarantee that our people are going to get to them.” I thought, well, then make them. Go find somebody, sit on their shoulders, and make them prioritize this. The sellers had to push their closing day which all had us have to pay a bunch of penalties and fines, which luckily it didn’t. It all ended up working out all right.

HomeDirect’s loan officer was responsive and willing to look at other options instead of just A and B. We were looking at doing either a VA refinance and having to pay a VA funding fee or doing conventional with very limited funding fee, but the interest rate would be higher. So, they helped us do some analysis to determine what's our break-even point. We're planning on being in a home for 10 years and our break-even point is 5. Aspen, the representative we were working with, was awesome. She was professional, timely and gave us sound advice. We got a VA loan and went through HomeDirect's loan process and everything got wrapped up like it was supposed to. The loan officer was 90% responsive and her response was a little slower than I would have liked a few times. Also, there's a little gap in communication as she'd send an email and not all the documents would be there or I wouldn't understand what I was supposed to do with the documents. But I understood the process and that she got other clients. And, she was very personable, thoroughly answered my questions when I talked to her, and did a good job.

We were looking to lower our rates and we found HomeDirect Mortgage on the internet. They seemed to be prompt plus their rate was better than some of the other ones that were out there. There were only a handful of things that they needed and the communication was excellent. A lot of it was done through email but there were phone calls too. Anytime we had a question, the rep responded the day we posted it and if we didn't understand something, he explained it. He was very knowledgeable in the field. At the very end, he sent us an email with everything that we needed to set the account up online which we wouldn't have normally had prior to getting all the paperwork in the mail, and we really appreciated that. It was a very smooth process which took six weeks from start to finish. HomeDirect was good to work with and we would recommend them.

We were buying a bigger house so we applied for a mortgage and we went with HomeDirect because of their mortgage officer, Julianne. She was so wonderful, helped us with anything we needed and worked on Sundays. We also shopped around and their rate was super competitive and one of the best. They gave us a thousand dollar seller's credit, too. We tried to buy several foreclosures and Julianne must have written us five pre-approvals. We had a VA loan and when we finally found the house we wanted, we ended up having to change our closing date because the roof was leaking. HomeDirect had to get it fixed and they were wonderful every step of the way. They were super helpful and very patient. Anything that we needed, they had it done. HomeDirect is also user-friendly and their mortgage online is easy. We'd recommend them to anybody.

We moved from Seattle to Kentucky and we needed a new place to stay. I got a VA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage who was easy to work with. There was a lot of paperwork that we had to go through and it was explained easily throughout the entire process. My wife did most of it but all information was requested from me. It was straightforward and probably the most painless process that I've ever been through. I've only interacted with one representative and it was fantastic. Finding information such as setting up payments was fairly low maintenance.
I’m 58 years old. If I hadn't gotten involved with HomeDirect Mortgage, I would still be renting a room from my mother which is not a place I want to be. We've owned several homes and a couple of commercial properties over the years. I know the pain of purchasing properties. I would advise my friends to contact Tim since he worked with us. I got enough things going on that I don't need my life complicated and HomeDirect really went out of their way to uncomplicate it.

I was trying to restructure some debt and ended up getting a veterans loan from HomeDirect Mortgage. From a strictly financial standpoint, they are the best economically for me. I dealt with Chad, who was highly professional and quite knowledgeable. He was understanding and always accessible. Accessibility was really important to me and it’s a very rare thing. It was a pretty good and positive experience dealing with him. Plus, he had a good attitude about trying to understand what I was trying to do. Occasionally, I’d get an email from one of the assistant loan officers that worked with him, but I always spoke with Chad.
All in all, the process went relatively smoothly with the exception of a couple of requirements that seemed a little bit inane. For instance, I live in a place called Indian Land, South Carolina and there is no actual post office in Indian Land. The post office is in Fort Mill, which is right near Indian Land. So when my address is Googled, it comes up Fort Mill even though my address is technically Indian Land. We ran into a problem because my homeowners policy showed Fort Mill and HomeDirect Mortgage was not willing to close unless my homeowners actually showed Indian Land as the address and it got really convoluted.
Also, my homeowners insisted that the loan to value situation as to what my homeowners limit should be a certain amount of money, which is understandable because they were trying to protect their interest. However, they did not take into account the fact that there was a special endorsement on the policy, which increased the value stated on the declaration page by 50%. They weren't willing to really accept that and I've been in the insurance business for 40 years, so I knew exactly what I was talking about. HomeDirect had a rather rigid requirement, but we got past that. I’m almost 80 years old, so I've refinanced the various homes I've owned many times and I’ve never had a positive experience, but I’d rate this as the best experience I’ve ever had.

We worked on the house and we needed to get funding for it. We started with a lender but it was not going smoothly. The process of getting things rolling was dragging. Our realtor knew somebody who was connected to HomeDirect Mortgage and that person said that HomeDirect can give me a better rate and get it done more quickly which they did. We got the rep all the paperwork that day and within 48 hours we had our approval. He knew exactly what he needed from me so I was able to get him all of my paperwork on the first shot. And he was able to answer any questions that I had and was just a very upbeat and personable. The rate was also lower compared to the rate of the company we've been looking at before. This is the second house that I bought and this was my best experience to date with getting a loan.

I wanted to buy a house and HomeDirect had a lower price. I ran several comparisons and it was the lowest at one time with other lenders. And for a VA Jumbo Loan, they beat everybody in every way. I've talked with two of their reps and both were very good. Every home I’ve ever bought is a frustrating event but they were slightly better at this. They're good communicators, both via voice and email, and provided every time I asked for some data or help. They were also able to provide it pretty quickly. Working with HomeDirect allowed me to buy a nice home. I'd tell a friend to give them a shot, but do the math and see what's the better deal for them. For me, it's the best bang for the buck.

My wife and I were looking at different options available to refinance. I reached out to an email and Seph from HomeDirect was just so informative and willing to work with us. We wanted to look at different avenues and to make sure we chose the right vehicle to meet the goal that we wanted and he gave us the different options. We thought about it over the weekend and then he said, "By Monday, I'll be sending you guys some paperwork." And then we read the paperwork over.
I'm busy at work and my wife's at home. We did a lot through email with us never having to see him in person. He worked with my wife the night so he was basically giving us the list of document that he needed for us to prepare and then making sure I have my paystubs in line. He made sure I had tax forms out and we were able to upload and send those back to him via email attachment.
He looked at the numbers and how long it's going to take. He gave us timeline, answered our questions and kept it straightforward with us. My wife is experienced because she's purchased before but I haven't. This is my first initial home purchase as a veteran. It made me very comfortable that she wasn't stressed at home. She was able to email me at text me and say, "Hey, Seph needs this. You send it to me and I'll upload it. You send it to our email and I'll loop Seph then." The channels used to get this process and the paperwork can sometimes be very strenuous. I'm a guy that doesn't like a lot of bureaucracy. I'd rather you just get through it, meet the need, get the end result and everybody's happy. And in my opinion the process with HomeDirect went as smooth as a car purchase. I love that.
Seph is phenomenal. I like his timeliness and the fact that he will get back to you. He doesn't pull you late about that. If he misses a call, you'll later hear from him. And one of the things I like too was that he would contact me in the evening when I'm home from work. I'm going to get an email from Seph at seven or eight o'clock at night. I've had a set of questions probably after hours and Seph would email me back at me by 11 o'clock. It's a very personable relationship. He didn't come off as a “greedy, hungry, get the deal done, let me get this commission, let me look good before this people and boom." But he came across as “concerned, I want to work with you and let's see how we can make this happen.” And I don't have no problem recommending him to someone else.
I have set my mortgage set up to bill pay, where I get my statements from them. Right now I'm in the process of getting a lading from the VA because of the injury sustained in the military. I was informed that once I received that letter that my origination fee would come off the mortgage and I'm hoping that remains as such because I sustained horrible injuries and I'm still on a treatment now. Seph did advise us about that and that was another thing that we took to heart. I just hope they keep up the good work and if they have that kind of relationship I like to see them offer more products.

HomeDirect had consistently great reviews. I felt like they were a good bet so I went with them. I got a 30-year VA and the loan process was very easy.
I was contacted directly by a young lady shortly after reaching out to HomeDirect. She was extraordinarily responsive and stayed connected, supportive, and helpful throughout. I can call her a few days ahead of time and tell her that I have a tight window on a certain day when things are going to happen and we're going to need major help and she was always right there by phone or e-mail. We went with a 30-year refinancing program with HomeDirect Mortgage to get a lower rate. They had the best deal and were the easiest to work with. My loan officer was good that's why I trusted him. However, I'm a little pissed about the experience. I had to pay around $600 to pay for a point down. One of the things that happened was, we had talked numbers beforehand what I thought the house was worth and what we owed. I had told him and he rounded them a little bit. And he eventually used that against me. I told him he did not tell me what the costs were going to be. He said, "I thought you said this is what your house is worth." I told him, "No, you rounded up the numbers."
But there were some things that they were not going to know until we get that far in the loan process. So he didn't want to scare me away by saying, "You might need to pay a point down" when I have another 50 people calling me to refinance. I get it. But at the same time, that was a little sneaky. It was really a crappy move. Other than that, the experience wasn't bad. I would use them again and I would recommend them because the market is so competitive for refinancing. So I did, and then he sent an email in which he said I am a dream client. I responded by asking him to give me a big pile of money so he sent a pre-app letter.
I called him on a Sunday because I needed more money. He got me a new letter and then emailed it to me right away. Tim always answered my calls, and calls and sends emails when I needed to hear something and only if I told him to do it. He is super funny and cool, and when I didn't like something, he listened. We had some stupid shake with the seller because the appraiser didn't come in. But we decided to walk through it anyway.
After three weeks, we finally got a seller to agree to reduce the price. Tim hurried up and got all the stuff done. We were able to close on time, even though it was kind on hanky. We were moving states so we looked into getting a mortgage for a new home purchase, and we got a conventional FHA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage. Initially, even before I had found a property to buy, I contacted their 800 number and got in touch with a loan officer, and it was the same loan officer that helped me through the entire process. He was personable and always talked with me if I had any questions. He told me what to expect and what documents were going to be required. As expected, we had to fax things back and forth. We gave him our situation, so there were some circumstances that needed to be taken care of with that, and then we were going to be carrying two mortgages for a short period of time. One of the things we told him upfront was that we were going to be switching jobs as well as switching locations.
After I found the property that we wanted to buy, I called them back and they started the process. But there were some mundane things that had to be completed ahead of other things, so the loan process got dragged out because a piece of paper had to be there before we could move on. What disappointed me was that towards the end of the process, a few days before the closing, we got surprised when they told us to make three months of mortgage payments available since we were changing jobs. That shocked me since I felt that I should have known that way ahead of time, but we were able to do it eventually. We got squared away and everything worked out, and we were able to close. I got a call from the folks at HomeDirect Mortgage that I went with and the rep was calling not to bother me but to tell me that they’re pretty competitive. He left me his information and when I was ready to proceed, I called them and asked what they offer. I was still getting calls from other folks even though I told them to knock it off, and when I compared the HomeDirect rep's offered rate, it was almost a full % below everyone else's. I had an issue with an identity theft in 2013, so I had to get some documentation from IRS. The reps asked some very direct questions and I had to provide some very direct answers several times, but it was nothing that precluded me from applying for the loan. It was a level of detail for compliance issues so they made the request. They told me what they needed, I got it, furnished it, and then proceeded. It was a nightmare and it took a little longer than expected because of the hold-up on the tax documents. It was a happenstance and wasn’t anybody’s fault. I would refer my friends directly to Noah. I needed to buy a house and I don't have the cash so I needed a mortgage. My real estate agent led me to a loan person who told me the best rate was with HomeDirect Mortgage and I ended up with a VA loan. The process was convenient because I didn't have to stop what I was doing to respond since it was communication through email. I provided the info as they needed it. Nowadays, it makes things a lot easier to go into little programs, digitally sign some things and not have to worry about scans and faxes. The rep answered all my questions and I've already recommended him to other people. If I were to get another house, I'd reach out to this gentleman and work with him again. I couldn't see him in person since he was in another state, but it wasn't an issue.

I got an email and HomeDirect was represented as essentially a part of the same outfit that I already have a mortgage with. The reps were always polite and good. We discussed that there would be savings so it caught my attention and it was a good time for me to do it. But the estimated closing cost I was given when we were talking during the process ended up being substantially larger in the end. I was sitting in closing, signing docs and all of a sudden, the amount is much bigger and it was a little aggravating. I realized they're ballparked but it was off by at least a couple of grand.
It still makes sense over time for me to do it but I was frustrated with that. I should have done more research instead of just taking that first email. It might have been worth doing some more phone calls and due diligence on my part. One should pin down as much as they can. They should make sure they understand and they're prepared to walk away from the table if the costs are greater than what they were led to believe.

I did some research and the fact that HomeDirect was associated with Bank of Oklahoma seemed to be a good fit for a mortgage. The process they make is fairly straightforward and simple. I provided them all the information and the loan process went well, but like anything, they took longer than I expected. The rep was upfront with what would take place and that's what happened. He also kept me informed where we were both via email and telephone communication. He answered any questions I had in the most expeditious time. I had a good experience with them and compared to some of the others I checked with, I found HomeDirect to be easy to work with. There were no surprises in the end.

I was trying to refinance the house and get the monthly payment down. HomeDirect had my mortgage and then one of their reps called and walked me through their refinancing process. Initially, I wasn't going with HomeDirect for the refinancing, but they gave me the best deal and I was happy with the interest rate. I submitted the paperwork to them and then they told me what else they needed. Their rep was absolutely professional and knowledgeable. I was shopping around for the interest rates and I had read the reviews that HomeDirect Mortgage was quick in the processing time. When you deal with mortgages I think it's a frustrating experience, especially when gathering documents but the individual I spoke to, Joshua, made a complicated process seem easy especially for us from New York who are not exactly the most patient people. The whole process was like you're not going to a bank but you're talking to a family member -- very friendly.
I was anxious whether documents made it there on time, whether everything will be done on time since I had other issues that are involved within the process but Joshua said not to worry, "We’ll take care of it.” And everything was taken care of on time. No issues arose during the process and it was done within three weeks which was amazing because it takes a long time. Everything was done good. A lot of people were amazed when I told them I was on it and I recommended them to other relatives. I actually told a lot of people about them.

We were underwater for so long and thought we'd give a VA loan a try. We answered some questions we came across via email and HomeDirect was the first to call us. We had to pay for the home inspection and then a guy came out and did the appraisal. There wasn't any paperwork we needed to complete before the closing, and HomeDirect took care of everything. The young man was very helpful and told us we've been pre-approved for the final approval. We were surprised that it went through. Three weeks and it was done, which was quick. And then somebody came to the house with a notary. We did it and that was it. We no longer have a high mortgage payment and it decreased a few dollars. We had a great experience with HomeDirect. The people all seemed happy if they see us and were prompt with the return calls if I had to leave a message. The young man who was working with us was good and patient.

HomeDirect is a great company. I was thrilled by their quick financing process and got a VA loan from them to buy a new home. It was also very easy and the manager was the sweetest person. Everything was flawless. Initially, I had one phone call over there and I spoke with a rep who told me about possibly helping with closing costs. I was impressed by her quick reply to my emails and her knowledge of any questions that I've had. She made this a very painless process.
I know for sure that if I were to purchase another home, I would go through HomeDirect again. I've referred them to everybody I talked to and one of my friends finally found a house and got approved for his loan. HomeDirect makes buying a home a lot easier than expected and I enjoyed the experience. I've always heard that getting loans and closing days were a headache, but it was none of that with HomeDirect. As long as I have my debts in a row, I'm sure that the guys at HomeDirect are going to work on those. I have to pay my mortgage as far as this one payment on my home and I like the ease of getting on the internet and making my mortgage payment. I also like the option that as soon as I paid for it, my equity moves toward my finance.

HomeDirect Mortgage had the best rates. However, the loan process was a little bit complicated because we had a VA loan. We were also refinancing a house that we are already occupying, so it seemed like we were adding this and that which made it complicated as well. But they walked us through it and it ended up being fine. I like that I could email my person directly and it was very personal and I dealt with one person. Then the closing was very easy. The mortgages got sold to BOKF and that is a pain because I can't get them into Mint, which is a financial aggregator. And the only downside is that under my old mortgage, I could have all that stuff in one glance in Mint. And with BOKF, I can log in independently through the website, but I can't connect it to Mint. It is going to stir people away from HomeDirect if they don't care about that. It’s a deal killer for certain people. Other than that, I saved money working with HomeDirect. We finally decided that we're going to stay in our house versus buying a new one, so we applied for a 30-year mortgage. HomeDirect services their own loans, their rates were comparable and the loan process was electronic for the most part, which was easy. The only confusing part about that is they operate under multiple companies. I got the information with all the current orders, solicitation and everything else that I got. It would be nice if the name was all the same throughout the process. I had to double check with the rep, Jeff, multiple times. I'm a good candidate and I knew what I wanted, how I wanted to position and when I wanted to close, but I needed some guidance since I haven’t done a mortgage in 20 years.
Jeff knew what I wanted and I felt very comfortable with him, which means a lot because I interviewed three other people from other companies before I got to Jeff and I felt like it was a slick salesperson at the other end. Jeff was very professional, knowledgeable and advised me all the way through. If he didn’t know something, he got back to me in a short period of time. I'm in sales and the follow-through is very important to me. I called him my hand-holder and he did a very good job. He also helped me with some questions I had during the post-close of the loan and he was very prompt. I already referred somebody to him. Overall, it was easy to do business with HomeDirect. We were considering taking out some equity for a couple of projects that we had in mind for our property. I did the LendingTree solicitation, got a bunch of offers and I sorted through some of those and spoke to a couple of different lenders in addition to the banker HomeDirect. I felt much more comfortable with HomeDirect’s rep based on how she interacted with me, so I went with them.
We did a refi and ended up with the VA 100%. I've had several experiences over my lifetime with borrowing money like this. I even had another VA experience, which was dreadful, but HomeDirect’s process was very straightforward and clean. The online application form was outstanding. The additional documentation required was identified quickly and completely so that we were able to provide that in no time. I worked with both the lender Erica and her assistant Jennifer. They kept us up to date on where things stood and provided us with a detailed description of the loan documentation that we were supposed to get back. There's always the disclosure that has to be sent out and they were always willing to take any questions that came along. They were very professional, courteous and friendly in dealing with everything we had to do. I really couldn’t have been any happier.
I was impressed with Erica's professionalism. She was absolutely on top of all the requirements and she was never condescending or discourteous when stupid people, often times borrowers, ask because we don’t know the process. She never didn't have time for questions and she was just absolutely a pleasure to work with. The entire process was outstanding. Our loan improved things for us on the monthly cash flow aspect and we've been able to improve our property. So far, we have made one payment. The idea was to take money out which we have and reduce our payments a little bit, which we also did. So far, it has been an outstanding experience and I'd tell my friends not to look any further, take the next step, follow through with HomeDirect, and they’ll do whatever they can to make the process successful. If they can work directly with Erica, they couldn’t be any happier.

I had such a great experience with him and I will always use him. The process was actually quite difficult and Matt was the person who solved it all for us. There was some confusion between the real estate agents on when the closing needed to be done, the timing, and the closing date. Matt reached out to everybody and got everybody on the same page, and he got us to close in a very fast time. Obviously, we were very happy with the rate. He did a fantastic job and I've told other people about him. We were impressed with his speed of reaction, wealth of experience, awareness of where we were, ability to help us understand what our options were and what we should do and shouldn't do, and ability to guide us through the process.
However, the only problem I'm having with HomeDirect is that the web system isn't easy to navigate. It took me a long time to get my password set up. Also, it doesn't work with my bank or Mint, so it's challenging that it's not integrated with a lot of the systems that people use today. But other than that, I'm super happy with HomeDirect.

I liked Noah. He was professional and not pushy which was nice. He was available and he got back to me pretty quickly. Now, I have a house but one thing I wish that HomeDirect would do differently is to charge interest per day if I pay bi-monthly. I bought a new house and also refinanced with HomeDirect Mortgage. A doctor whom we've known recommended them and they have the best deal and rate out of USA, Navy Federal and anybody else so I went with them. The refinance was a VA streamline and the new home was a partial VA. This is the fifth house that I'm getting a mortgage for and it's been the best and easiest one I've done so far. I was not looking forward to the whole process because it's been a pain before, but HomeDirect Mortgage made it was it's almost like I wasn't doing it. The loan rep that I dealt with was an awesome guy, as well. He was perfect, made everything easy and was very nice, too. The experience has been easier than I thought it would be.

We refinanced through HomeDirect Mortgage and we ended up going with a VA. We went with them several years ago just by shopping around and Chad responded from Bank of Oklahoma and gave good rates. I had a great experience with the loan process. It was super easy. Everything was laid out for us to do. There was never any lack in communication. Chad, the guy we worked with was just outstanding. I was online, on Zillow, looking at homes and I wanted to get pre-approved. It said, “Click here to be pre-approved.” And it put me to HomeDirect and from then on it was a piece of cake. My experiences during the loan process have all been good. Julianne, their rep, was efficient, nice, and was on top of everything. She was in contact with me daily, sometimes every couple of times a day every time something came up or she needed more information or something that I could provide her. Later on in the process, she got an assistant who was just as efficient and just as nice and kept us in the loop. They also connected us to Chicago Title and we went from there. By the time we got to closing, it was less than 45 minutes. I was impressed with the way Julianne works. It was the easiest mortgage I've ever gotten in my life and we also got a great interest rate on our house.
If we ever wanted to refinance, I'd go back to HomeDirect. I've also already recommended them to three of my associates. My only complaint is with their customer care net. This morning I went on it and I wasn't all impressed. They need to make it a little computer friendly. Their page doesn't give you the information that you're looking for and it makes you go to many places. I'm a computer person and I go on there and keep track of everything. I got a notice my taxes were due and I wanted to go on and make sure they were paid. If I have that access and I don't have to call someone and customer service and bother them, I'd feel better.

I researched for loans online when I was in the market for a new home and found that HomeDirect Mortgage had good reviews. I was under the impression that it was going to be a smoother process so I went with them as opposed to a local bank. The loan process started off positively but then we had a lot of bumps as we went along. It lasted for 10 months which was longer than I expected, and a lot longer than a traditional bank.
We were told that we were able to take out a VA loan and then we were moving in the right direction. I had paid for the home inspection and I thought everything was fine. And then at the last minute, before closing occurred, they came and told us we could no longer take out a VA loan because we ran into some stipulations. It was unsettling that the loan officer didn't inform me about those. They felt bad so they'll pay for the inspection for a conventional loan. But that didn't pacify the situation because it just prolonged the process by another two months.
Andrew I'm sorry your experience wasn't the best. This is not typical and your specific situation unfortunately did have some bumps. We thank you for being a customer and if you need anything further or have future needs down the line please feel free to contact us directly, and we can assist you on this loan or any future ones. Thanks again Andrew.

I went on Zillow Mortgages and HomeDirect had the best rate and good rating at the time. The website gave me their phone number, I called and I went to the seller. The rep and I stayed in touch over the phone and if he needed something, he'd call me and they would also email me with any updates or anything I needed. If I needed something, I'd call him and I had a lot of questions like if I'd be eligible for the 15 years and what I needed. We needed 20% down to get it so my house needed to appraise for quite a bit higher than they originally did. He walked me through the process and we ended up getting what we needed. It was nice to be able to communicate with him anytime I needed to and he pretty much got back to me right away. Also, despite the fact that he was in a different state, it was a quite pleasant communication.
Everything was how it went and that's the best that you could hope for in these kinds of processes. I got the mortgage I needed so down the road, it should pay off. I went from an FHA to a 15 year conventional. It was nice and easy working with them and it was a good overall process. We're reviewing our finances and we looked at the rates that we had on our previous mortgage. We noticed the rates were starting to go up a little bit so we thought we can refinance and take advantage of it before they went up further. We applied with the Lending Tree and HomeDirect Mortgage was the only one who seemed to have any knowledge of the VA loan. Everybody who had an offer didn’t have any understanding about VA loan. We had to get the house bug inspected even though my wife got it five years earlier and even though we had the house treated for termites, it wasn’t good enough for the VA so we had to have another inspection. They also found one piece of dry and rotten piece of wood needed to be replaced but other than that, the home loan process was simple.
HomeDirect's rep, Kent, was on the ball. He gave us a checklist and emailed and called us all the time. We had to send him the documents he needed and he gave us a prepaid FedEx. Working with them lowered our payments which really helped out a lot. We were paying $5000 a month for principal and interest, plus insurance plus homeowners' and flood insurance. Now, we've wrapped everything up all in one including the CNI and the one monthly payment was $5500 instead of $5000 plus, plus. We had a great experience with HomeDirect and we loved it.

I put offers on about five different properties before I finally got one accepted. HomeDirect had a pre-approval letter for me as I could not rent on every property and they were awesome. After they did my initial pre-approval, when the property changed, I called them back within hours and they would have a new pre-approval for a new property.

I've shared with most people in the organization that I had a bit of a challenge because there was an overlap of requests and duplication of information I've sent between the sales contact person and the underwriter. That was disjointed and added extra time. But after I brought it up to their attention, the issue has been resolved. The representative that I worked with was one of the managers. I needed to buy a house so I got a VA loan from HomeDirect. I have worked with them before and they did a really good job, so I went back. The loan agent was recommended by a bunch of friends and they said she could get me a substantially lower rate on a VA refi with my house in Texas. The experience was so great when I needed to buy my next house in Delaware, she was the first person I called. I called someone else too, but they couldn't get the lock for long at the rate that she could. And they didn't have the lender credits.
I have a unique situation, and then I had just switched jobs from the air force to Southwest Airlines. A lot of home loan agencies won't really do anything, 'cause you don't have an established income, but I was able to get a letter from Southwest Airlines and used that letter to say, "Here's how much we're gonna pay and here's our contract, here's this minimum." And she was able to use that as proof of income. So that’s pretty impressive. There's not a lot of places that can do that.
The loan process was good. I had fairly consistent contact with my loan officer and she was responsive at the documents that she requested. If it wasn't exactly right, she was able to work with me on that. Rate’s also lower than I could find anywhere else. She couldn’t have done much better than she did. It was really seamless. Intentionally, I had a long timeline for the process at about 60 days, start to finish.
Working with them has been successful. The closing was complicated as well, because I was in training for Southwest Airlines in Dallas. And specifically finding a day to be right where we needed to do a remote, which we ended up doing on the notary versus a power of attorney for my wife. We had all those options on the table and we're able to set all that up. We got all the paperwork together then handed them over to the lawyer, Lunger & Associates or the people and made sure all is ready for that particular day, et cetera. Ultimately, I found a couple of days where I could get away from training and do the closing in San Antonio for the house here in Delaware.
It was an easy loan to do with a lot of moving parts and we were able to make it happen. They were on the spot with what I needed, thorough and professional. I just really enjoyed to working with them. I'd definitely want to tell friends what happened and tell them to use it. I would also give them the name of the person who I worked with.

I changed jobs, moved to Chicago and needed to buy a new house. So I got a VA mortgage with HomeDirect and it worked really well. Over others, their services and the lower fees were what I liked. But the lack of expertise at HomeDirect dealing with VA mortgages was problematic. There were tasks that are normally accomplished by the lender that I actually had to do myself, managing and taking care of that stuff with the VA. Getting the property certified for a VA loan is normally handled by the lender. I was told that it would take several months for them to complete it. Whereas, knowing absolutely nothing at the beginning, it took me less than two weeks. So, if a lender is going to say that they service VA mortgages, they should have the expertise to actually follow up on that. Everything else was spot on. Derek, my loan application processor, communicated well in the beginning but after the application process started, it was clear that he wasn’t as available and didn’t communicate as well as I would have liked. I don’t think that’s because he wasn’t doing his job but when you’re on the buying end, even if there’s no status update or change, it would have been nice to hear communication on a more regular basis. There were several periods of time where a week or two would go by and we wouldn’t hear anything. That was frustrating on our end. There’s a lot of information that we did not understand but the questions that he did answer, he was very helpful in letting us understand.
We did a lease to purchase contract. On the day that we were told as our closing day, we found out that there was a loophole that we couldn’t close because, in our type of contract, we are required to reside in the home for six months before we can buy it. I don’t think Derek knew this. This was new information to him too, I understand, but this information should have been shown in the beginning. We were given three or four different quotes because they kept getting extended. We had to deal with the seller and our insurance and tell them that we can’t close that day and that we would have to wait some more.
The one part that didn’t go well that could have gone better is when we were finally given our close date which was really close to the date when they provided us with all the disclosures about the amount. They did that three days before the actual close date. I had explained to him the whole time that the sale price in the contract was negotiated based on our loan information. I and the seller were negotiating back and forth as far as how much we were going to pay for the house and how much he was going to pay towards closing cost. We’re trying to arrange it to where we got a certain amount towards closing cost. During those three days, we didn’t hear from anyone and we wanted to be able to have the opportunity to alter those amounts but we didn’t get any communication.
We actually paid more for the house and ended up losing money. The seller’s not going to give it back to us now so, we got screwed on that. If the lender was able to provide the numbers before the disclaimers, we would have changed the contract. I would have asked for less closing cost and would have dropped the price of the house by $1,800. The whole experience wasn’t bad, there was a lack of communication, but they could have done better. I was lost in the dark which I think wasn't their fault. It’s not their job to explain everything to us. We didn’t have a realtor and maybe that’s what a realtor’s role is. Direct Mortgage was able to get our loan approved that my credit unit could not so, overall, they get a good rating from me.

I wanted to refinance and see if there were lower rates than getting rid of one particular credit obligation. I went to different lenders and that prompted lots of phone calls and emails and I had to sift through a couple. Bank of Oklahoma did a nice job and I like to continue discussing with them. The biggest point for me for having HomeDirect was that if Bank of Oklahoma supposedly keeps the mortgage it doesn’t get resold and passed around with different service providers.
I had submitted all the package information to two lenders at the same time. Federal Savings which is under post investigation right now did not do anything. But Erica from HomeDirect was able to answer questions. We went through the process and she was very helpful. The HomeDirect website allows them to do internet loan processing as opposed to the bank itself, which is in Oklahoma. Erica was able to clarify the distinctions of the Bank of Oklahoma but I was too slow to pick up on all these little nuances.
And by not being prepared to absolutely execute whatever the initial offer was and not doing enough research for knowing what the Bank of Oklahoma is all about with HomeDirect cost me $2,000. By the time I got the second email back prices have gone up $2,000. But working with HomeDirect Mortgage decreased my monthly mortgage payment by $150 a month. In retrospect, I should have taken the maximum mortgage value but I’m very satisfied they have a very competitive rate. My closing agent verified that that's an excellent rate. It was better than some of the other ones we had dealt with. We also did text messages for short questions on very minor stuff. But if there was anything important, I’d always do it over the phone and their rep was very personable. She was very considerate on us and we liked the amount of attention that was paid to our experience. It wasn't hectic or stressful. It was a very excellent and positive experience, and we were very impressed.

I had a refinance with HomeDirect and went for their VA program. I applied for a mortgage because of the lower monthly payments and Home Direct had the lowest interest rate than everybody else. I went to another place to start with and then I started to shop around. The person that recommended HomeDirect got me a 3.375 interest rate. He was very friendly, easy to talk to, and worked with me through the whole process painlessly. I'd recommend HomeDirect. Their closing cost was very low and working with them relieves pressure. And overall, my experience was easy, no nonsense and the best deal.

I applied for a mortgage because I was looking to buy a house. HomeDirect Mortgage's interest rate was competitive so I went with them. I ended up with a VA loan. It's the best interest rate that I have. The loan process was simple and the only snags were with the VA, which doesn't have anything to do with HomeDirect. The rep that I dealt with was extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable. Whenever there was anything outstanding on my side, he always checked in to make sure that I was aware that he was waiting on something. There was one point when he went away on vacation and he put me in touch with who his backup was going to be while he was away. He made sure that I had support all the time. It's also impressive how responsive he was. It was a positive experience working with him. The rep was the face of the company and I would recommend him.

I'm very happy with HomeDirect Mortgage. I considered applying for a mortgage due to certain house expenses. Also we had an adjustable mortgage and I wanted to turn it to a fixed mortgage. I went to LendingTree.com and got a contact to HomeDirect. They responded to my request so I opted to go with them. I also had one other lender call me and they weren't as professional as this company. The people from HomeDirect were very professional and polite. They did everything expeditiously. They provided good advice and they were very helpful if I had any questions too. I had to get a hold of them and they got back to me promptly. HomeDirect helped me out in refinancing and got me extra money to help pay for some house expenses.

We had a new home purchase and HomeDirect offered a good mortgage rate which was very competitive compared to what I was getting from everyone else. We ended with a VA loan and they did fine handling the process. The representative I worked with did a good job right up, but getting closer to the end, he got a bit of an attitude with me when I was trying to decide between him and another mortgage lender.
The rep knew the guy from the other company as they used to work together and the way he was speaking about the other provider was not something I expected in the professionalism from a high-class bank. His professionalism went down the drain a little bit and I spoke with his supervisor about it. The supervisor apologized and they corrected the situation. Then, I have another home that the rep was trying to help me to finance. He called me a few times with updates for the rates that were available, so he was helpful there. So for the most part, it was a good experience.

It’s my third time working with HomeDirect and it was a good experience. Their rates were good and I had established a good business relationship with the mortgage banker. I was purchasing a house and I got a VA loan with HomeDirect. They’re personal, very responsive and have very competitive rates. The first person I dealt with was great, very helpful and available. I asked complicated questions sometimes and she would either know the answer or do the research to get back to me very quickly. Then I switched to a second person who got stuck being a messenger between me and their underwriting department. They seemed to be focusing on things that didn't matter and really made things difficult for me. For instance, they needed the inspection invoice dated and signed with the breakdown of cost. But the inspector didn't charge an itemized thing, so I had to get a second inspection. Some of the delays were also due to the fact that the sellers needed a later closing date.
The home purchasing process was easier than expected but I'm still trying to figure out the direct payment option. I’ve signed up for it at the closing, and when I called to verify they said that it wasn't set up and I needed to pay the first month. Then I got a letter saying it was set up. Also, applying and getting the mortgage was far less painful than expected. I will recommend HomeDirect.

HomeDirect Mortgage was a great company to work with. I found them on Zillow and they were highly rated there. And then I went and checked out some of their other reviews. The loan officer that we worked with was rated highly and he was at the top. We contacted him directly and he was excellent to work with. He would get back to me within the day, typically within an hour or two, and even in the evenings.
I got a new home and the loan interest was competitive. Our Realtor tried to steer us away from using just an online company and steered us to somebody local. But the process that they had for working through the system, making sure that we had everything in place was more refined than the local. It was easier to work with somebody at a distance than it was to work with a local company. I would recommend HomeDirect Mortgage and the loan officer that we worked with.

HomeDirect's rates were competitive so I decided to go with them. The guy who contacted me was nice and friendly. I sent him some paperwork that he needed to get me pre-approved. He handled the creation of my pre-approval letter and worked with my realtor to get that letter to him, then they worked together from there on until I closed on the house. He needed a few last documents. After emailing him those documents, that was it. They made getting a loan fairly smooth. Their rates are a little better than going to a bank or a credit union.
Although there was a bit of confusion about making my first payment and getting setup online. Knowing what website to go to and putting the loan number and other information in was a bit confusing. But when I called HomeDirect Mortgage, the rep answered or called me right back within the hour, plus he always had answers for the questions I had and was very helpful. We were purchasing a new home so we applied for a mortgage and HomeDirect had the lowest rate that we found. But there was a lot of miscommunication between the people that I was working with. Originally, we were working with Tyson and then all of a sudden, we were working with Donna. They were not communicating back and forth with one another and were asking the same information.
Tyson said that they needed some information and I asked him why, but he didn't give me the correct reasoning and just said, "Well, we just need it," and that's not an explanation. I emailed him all my bank statements for certain amounts. Then he said that they needed to know where a certain amount in my bank account came from because the government wanted it. I asked him for the codes and why. Some people don't care about that but when they're asking me to pull 30 bank statements, I want better reasoning than that the government said they had to have it.
We put our offer in on the house but we didn't close for three months because we weren't moving up in Alaska for three more months. That was a long closing period and they had plenty of time, but our closing date was delayed for five days due to their not having the papers ready. That was frustrating and affected the sellers. We didn't need to move into the house right away but if we had to, that would have been frustrating as well. Overall, Tyson communicated very well with me and when he said that they needed some information, I got it to him in a timely manner. But that was just towards the end when it was getting close to the closing date, and they should have been working on all that two months prior.

I was moving due to military orders and I needed a place to live, so I decided to apply for a mortgage. I’ve been telling a lot of people about LendingTree. So on a whim, I tried the LendingTree process and it led me to HomeDirect Mortgage. I had used some lenders in the past, and I liked and trusted their customer service. However, those companies were unable to match HomeDirect’s rate and incentive kickbacks. I applied for a new home purchase and ended up with the 30-year fixed loan program.
HomeDirect Mortgage’s loan process was very painless and easy. The loan officer whom I was assigned to was very competent, approachable, and available. It’s great that within a couple of conversations, I was able to contact him by any means necessary and any time of day. Whatever questions popped up or whether we’re working on different time zones, I was able to contact him. It was a very positive process to the point that I have recommended my loan officer to one of my best friends as he was trying to buy a house as well.

I relocated to a different town for my work and we purchased a house. I went with a fixed VA 30-year loan program and got a better rate with HomeDirect Mortgage. Here in Greenville, South Carolina, the rate was almost a full percentage point higher than what HomeDirect Mortgage was able to deliver. The loan process was surprisingly easy. When we signed the contract to have our home built, we were 45 days out from the expected closing date and our original lender fell through. We scrambled and found HomeDirect Mortgage about 40 days out and was able to get a rate lock within a day and closed on time. HomeDirect Mortgage was able to manage the deal in less than 30 days.
They worked with me step by step. We were on top of it with every other person I had. They answered in a timely manner, worked well and directly with our builder and realtor. It went very smooth considering the time crunch and all the other stuff involved. With the previous lenders I dealt with, I have to come to the table with all the research and figure out the options and what was the best path for me. But with the HomeDirect representative, he knows there are certain options for me, which is exactly what I wanted. Having to do all the research myself was extremely annoying but having them do the research and lay down the numbers with which option that works best for me was very, very helpful. I can't thank them enough for being on top of all the headaches involved because it was touch and go for a bit with the builder. They were not happy I was switching lenders at the last minute.
This is the fourth home I purchased and by far this is the best experience. HomeDirect Mortgage got a rate that worked for me and it freed up an extra $100 a month. Cash is king, so the better service and the best deal when there's more money in my pocket. I'm definitely happy to refer them.

We had an amazing experience with HomeDirect Mortgage. I'm surprised that we closed down a house as quick as we did. We wanted our own home, so we considered applying for a mortgage. We searched online and we liked HomeDirect’s rates. We got the VA home loan from them. Ryan helped us and guided us through the steps to get our application approved. He set us up for success with the house and we're very happy. He was very professional and had a very quick response time. We shot him an email with any questions we had any time of the day and he responded back very quickly.
We did an initial credit check first. Ryan gave us some tips to improve our credit scores to have better rates. Then, we revisited it several months later and Ryan was still on board. He was still contacting us to see if we're ready. After we had the credit rating that we wanted, we pulled the trigger and went through with the loan application. Ryan was good. We weren’t expecting to get a mortgage that time but he worked with us and figured out what we got to do. We're very happy with his service.
I'd recommend HomeDirect Mortgage to a friend. If my marine buddies are looking for a first-time VA loan, they should shop around. Normally, the first thing everybody does is go through either Navy Federal Credit Union or USSA. They don't exactly look around to explore their options. Just because it's a VA loan, it doesn't mean they necessarily have to go with their primary banks that they have in the service. They can look around and they'll find out it is just like any normal loan.

We also applied with Quicken and Garden State Loans, and HomeDirect was the easiest mortgage process I've ever gone through. It was online and quick. There wasn't a giant stack of papers to sign when we closed.
The lady from HomeDirect who we worked with was great, too. We talked to her on the phone the first few times to give her all the information and after that, we talked through email. She answered any questions that we had. She also kept us up-to-date with, "Hey, we just applied and got approved. We got the purchase order in." And within three days, HomeDirect had somebody out here to appraise the house. We put in a couple of offers on different places and the lady rated the approval letter each time to show that we weren't approved for the higher amount. Their reps were always easy to contact to, as well. HomeDirect made it a lot easier for our relocating. They gave us a top price so we had that going in. Brandon was knowledgeable, responsive, thorough, friendly, efficient, and courteous. It's too bad HomeDirect doesn't provide borrowers with the same kind of personal account manager once the loan closes.
Two other suggestions: First, improve your ability to distinguish between a homeowner/borrower's property address and mailing address. Through the courtesy of our local post office, we continue to receive mail at our post office box that is misaddressed to our street address. Second, we set up an escrow account to pay our homeowners' insurance payments, but our insurer, AAA, continues to bill us directly. HD needs to better coordinate with insurers (and property taxing agencies?) to more effectively transfer the responsibility for payment from the borrower to HD.
