I wanted to switch to a 15-year loan. I searched online and saw HomeDirect Mortgage had a good interest rate and they would do a loan without me paying the fees. I went online to obtain the mortgage and it went very smooth. The application and underwriting process took about four weeks. The thing I like the most was their willingness to do the lending process online. Most of the loan people don’t want to give any information. They want to talk to you on the telephone and I simply wanted to evaluate facts so I can do that if they send me the numbers. I’m not interested if the salesperson is trying to sell me. I spent years as a loan officer myself so I’m familiar with how the process works. HomeDirect Mortgage is an honest reputable place to get a loan and they're doing a great job.

I had filed bankruptcy due to identity theft back in 2011. I got modified under the HARP loan plus I'm a 100% disabled veteran, so I basically got bailed out and it took a bunch of money off my mortgage. Then I got refinanced under the HARP program. Five years went by and they upped it to $200 a month, so I began to look around. Then one day, six years after that, I realized that I had $250,000 equity on my house. I thought I had lost it due to the bankruptcy, but what happened was because it was identity theft, they restored my equity. It's part of the bankruptcy plan. I then contacted HomeDirect and I liked the way they talked to me. When I got the callback, I had a really great experience. They did a really good job and I was very impressed.
At the hearing, at the conference table where you go to have your bankruptcy and there's an administrative judge, some guy walked out of the audience and sat down at the table. I recognized him as a plumber who had done some work on my house about six months earlier. Then he started saying how he wanted me to pay him the $575 I owed him. This guy is committing a crime by being there and making the demand of me at my own hearing. He's not even supposed to make any demands with me. When the guy asked me if I was going to pay him, the administrative judge looked to me. Then I pointed to my attorney, and my attorney turned to the guy and said, “I suggest you hire a counselor.” The administrative judge just sat there and staring at everybody until the guy left. Then I sued the guy and got $5,000 out of him for coming to my hearing and making a demand.
He got a judgment after it pointed to my record. It was an illegal filing of a judgment. It didn’t come up until HomeDirect did a title search. They were the ones who fixed it, not my own attorney. Their internal department cleared that up, slam-dunked the whole matter and got it all behind me because obviously, it upset me when it happened. They got rid of it very quickly. They were on top of it the whole way. I've dealt with mortgage companies in the past, and you could call them up and nobody knows anything. But HomeDirect was the exact opposite.
The whole process took three months. It got difficult for a while until they stood up on their hind legs and basically found out what actually happened. They were very patient with me and my attorney for about a month and a half. We couldn’t get it cleared. I stayed with HomeDirect through all of that. My personal broker should be promoted to train their people. He was that good. It was a complex case, but they wrapped it up.

I applied for a mortgage to buy a house and I ended up going with a veterans loan at HomeDirect. We were skeptical at first since it was an out-of-state lender but the rep was referred to us through our realtor and I ended up getting a really good rate. You get a rate and you get a lender credit based on what the rate is. That was really cool too because we ended up getting a lower rate than we can find anywhere plus a small lender credit on top of it and with no fees. It was great and it all ended up perfectly. We had a different lender in a previous purchase and I told their rep that I'd give her an option to meet or beat HomeDirect's rate, but she couldn't touch it.
HomeDirect's rep was always available to us, including nights and weekends, answering all of our questions and letting us know what we needed to provide. Everything was really simple. Also, the home we have is more affordable. We don't feel that we've thrown as much money away with interest because we have a lower rate. We still receive an email from HomeDirect every now and again. It feels like we're being well-serviced. If there's an issue and there's anything wrong, it's easy enough to reach out to their rep and talk with her about it. I've already recommended them several times.

I was almost four years into my house when HomeDirect Mortgage called and showed me the rates and how much I could save per month. I decided I was early into my 30-year mortgage and to go ahead and knock it out. Their rep was awesome and he made it really easy to understand. He sent me out all the rates and the different options. He laid out what it would be and told me to just let him know. I told him what kind I wanted then he told me what paperwork I needed to provide to get the process going. It took about three weeks for everything to be finalized. Then somebody came out to the house. I signed the paperwork and it was done. But I still get calls from them asking to refinance and I wish they could get rid of that. That aside, it was one of the smoothest processes I’ve been through. It was really easy and I’m happy I did it.

HomeDirect's process is very simple. I've used them before and I kept their rep's name, and he does everything for me. His name is Kyle and he's always helpful. I can literally send him an email and he takes care of things right away. I'd like their rate to be a little lower, but beggars can't be choosers and I would recommend them overall.

I keep in regular contact with a particular HomeDirect loan officer because I've done so many other loans through him and had good experiences. I like his honesty. I've gone through a few different lenders just getting prices and I always got the feeling that they were not really having my best interest, whereas, every time I worked with the guy from HomeDirect, he was a straight-shooter, and he’d tell me the rates and lender credit he could give me. And every loan I've done, it worked out exactly as he said it would. I'm trying to get a lower interest rate recently and I applied for a VA Streamline with HomeDirect. So, I waited until I had the six payments to where I would be able to do the IRRRL. And then luckily, the rates were to the point where I was able to lower it by a bit and save some money.
I got a few emails showing the closing disclosures during the application. And the application and underwriting process went very smooth, and it was probably the smoothest from all the ones I've done with the loan officer because it was just a streamline and I never had to send a whole lot of documents in. I had to consent to the E-sign and look over the closing disclosures. It was extremely quick, and I was very happy with the experience. Based on the current environment with all the rates, I got a good deal with HomeDirect. I have a rental property loan with them as well. And to have both loans with the same company and the same website to be able to auto-pay is very smooth and convenient.

I was moving to a new area and I wanted to buy a house. I got a VA loan from HomeDirect. A friend who went through HomeDirect highly recommended them. I started talking to Tim while I was still living in Hawaii, and he was helping me go through the preapproval process. And then, when I got here, we put offers in before we went on the contract and it took him no time to get us the pre-approval letters for the amount they were offering. So, it was an easy process and it took no time to get the loan and we closed two weeks early compared to what we originally thought was going to be the date.
I really enjoyed working with Tim. When I had any sort of questions, he would answer phone calls and emails. We had to fix our time difference. So, it was tough sometimes to get a hold of each other during the work day but he was great. HomeDirect's online application process was very simple and very easy to understand and take care of. I'm very happy with the rate and the terms. Everyone was surprised I was able to get it that low. I had already recommended HomeDirect multiple times to multiple friends who were looking to purchase homes, and I'd keep doing the same thing.

I was going to do an IR program but I had to remodel my kitchen and I ended up taking a little bit of equity out. I got an email from HomeDirect Mortgage and they were helpful. They had everything that I needed and it was very quick. I only gave them the key documents that they required and then I had to get my ex-wife to sign off on the deed and it was done. It was all done through email but it was great. They were professional and I got responses right away. I felt comfortable working with them. Also, it was the lowest interest that they could've gotten at that time so it was good.

I went with HomeDirect's conventional loan program for a new home purchase. Their online application process was straightforward. They have a very competitive rate and it was one of the best that I could find. I first found an agent, gathered the documentation and HomeDirect checked to see if I was pre-approved. Once I was pre-approved, we continued to process the documentation, and then we had to go through the appraisal to see if appraisal checked out. The pre-approval took less than 72 hours, and then the underwriting process took three and a half weeks. After all of that was taken care of, we were finalized. I was happy with their rates and terms I received. Everything was as stated, so that was good. The loan officer, Aspen, did a good job. She was very responsive and kept me up to date. I appreciated them partnering with me and the clear expectation. They made the home loan process understandable and possible.

I used one of the VA benefits in applying for a mortgage for a new home purchase. I'm a veteran and because I’m getting a little bit older, I wanted to be a bit more financially wise. I had to understand the loan process. I submitted a request through Rocket Mortgage. It was one of those where different quotes come out. HomeDirect contacted me and I told them that I was trying to find the best rate and they gave a quote. I told Eric if anybody beats his quote, I would go with them but if they match it, I would use him because he’s the originator of this loan offer. The only thing I cared about was the interest rate, the terms and that I wasn’t paying any point. I wasn’t worried about customer service or the loan being sold off. Eric understood that and got me what I wanted.
I wanted to see what the market can do for me and it took months. Some other agencies were coming in at eight percent. I told them I got a three and a quarter interest rate from HomeDirect Mortgage. They said it was impossible and that the market wasn’t sustainable for that. They warned me that I was going to get screwed over but I told them I would take Eric’s word for what it was. I told Eric that if it jumps to 6% like everybody else was telling me, he would lose my business. The other banks weren’t able to compete.
Only one other competitor was neck and neck with HomeDirect and the only reason they were able to compete was because the rep knew his business model. He understood what it was all about because he worked underneath Eric. He said he could beat Eric but there was something about the system being shut down and he wasn’t able to produce a quote. I told him I was locking in that day and if he couldn't do it, he couldn't do it.
I submitted over 20 applications and HomeDirect beat out everybody. They gave me the best interest rate and once the balls were rolling and I became serious, I inputted all my information and the financial documents into their system. I got the official quote and I locked in the price. Eric was true to his word and he showed superior business ethics in terms of producing what he said he could do. He closed the loan in 30 days and gave me three and a quarter. That's what I wanted and that's what I got.
But once Eric had locked me in, he transferred me off to Steven, a junior loan officer. He seemed unorganized and he wasn’t able to keep up with what was going on. I had to send him multiple emails and applications. I didn’t want my application to be dropped because he wasn't getting his information in correctly and I had to get in contact with Eric in the middle of the process. Steven might have just been a little under-experienced in learning the ropes but it didn't help when I was rushing to try and get everything done. It was a little frustrating on my end but he was still a good guy and once he gets everything down, he might be a bit better.
The underwriter also messed something up in the official contract and an addendum had to be done. It was 20 minutes from closing and I was biting my fingernails wondering whether it was going to happen or not, but it ended up going through. Other than those, everything was great. Eric was straightforward with me and the process was easy. I wanted a higher quality of life and I bought a very expensive house. HomeDirect made that happen and I've recommended Eric to numerous people because of his honesty and what he produced for me. What he was able to do within the marketplace was astonishing. If he says that he can get a certain interest rate then believe what it is.

I came across HomeDirect Mortgage when I was applying for a loan. It was online and if you submit basic information, it gives you six different quotes. They were one of the top quotes that came back and after discussing with them along with all the other mortgage companies or lenders that had contacted me, theirs had the most appealing offer. Plus, through consumer reviews and stuff online, they had fairly decent ratings. The loan was for a new home purchase. It started with speaking through the loan officer and understanding the details and sort of what HomeDirect was willing to offer.
They then sent some level of initial paperwork that I completed and they had to do some more checks on basic background information and credit to make sure that their offer is lined up with what I was bringing to the table. After they did that, they then put together a working document of terms. As that was getting approved on their site at their various screening levels, once that was all signed up on their site, they've done an actual agreement to be signed. We worked pretty diligently on the process for about two to three weeks in order to secure the loan. It's fairly fast and there's some time in there on my end of gathering all the various documents. HomeDirect was very helpful and responsive. The stuff that they laid out were all clear on what I needed to do. From time to time, there's a question or something that we didn't know how to deal with, they were able to help.
In talking to the loan officer, Timothy, one of the things that we talked about was down the road, is there a possibility to recast the loan so as to make a significant payment against the principal to reduce the monthly payment. And he said, "Yeah. That shouldn't be a problem. We have a department to handle that. Here's kind of the basic requirements that you'll need to meet." That was great, except when very recently, when I tried to recast the loan, I was then told by the department that I couldn't do it because of the type of loan, which is VA loan. That was a little frustrating because it would have been nice to know upfront.
But other than that, in terms of the process of getting the actual loan and walking us through all that, that was all fine. The loan officer was great and it was easy to work with him. However, I'd recommend to make sure that if there's any specific questions related to your case, make sure you walk through those in detail with whomever you're working with. Double-check that they've given you the right information.

I went with a VA loan with a 30-year effect for a new home purchase through HomeDirect Mortgage. They were very efficient, backed by a big company and their rates were the lowest that I found. Obtaining the mortgage was very simple. There were forms that they sent me and they shepherded the whole process all the way through, which took 30 days. The rep, Julie, was absolutely outstanding. She was experienced and she knew right off most of my questions, but where she didn't know, she got the answers quickly. Working with HomeDirect gave me peace of mind. They took care of everything and it was very well handled. I had VA loan experience with other mortgage lenders because I used to sell new homes in Florida and a lot of them would say, "Yeah, we can do well," and then they're in the learning process on the paperwork. In the case of HomeDirect, they were very much up to speed. In fact, they specialized in VA loans and that set them apart.

I was refinancing for a VA and HomeDirect Mortgage offered me the best interest rate at the time. They sent something but I wanted to check into it first and make sure it wasn’t a scam. Then I called them back and said I would only do it if the interest is 3.25%. They said they could do that and the process was fairly straightforward. They came over here with all the paperwork to be signed with a notary public so it was effortless. The whole application and underwriting process took less than 30 days. Overall, CS was good but sometimes you can't get a hold them. But I guess the rep was just in the middle of somewhere in Oklahoma with his family and he didn’t have good reception. Other than that, they were straightforward about everything.
I stayed with HomeDirect Mortgage and I like it for the mortgage price. The only thing I don't like is their website. You can't do anything on it. It would be better if you can go to their website, put in information and do bills ahead. It would be nice to be able to schedule something out. I tried to do that on the phone but they were going to take the full amount. I wanted to schedule it, not have anything taken out right away. But I also liked that they said they would hold on to the mortgage so it won’t be sold to somebody else. The first time I had a mortgage on the house, it was sold to somebody else eight days later. With HomeDirect Mortgage, I don't have to worry that two months later I would be paying someone completely different. So far, I'm happy with HomeDirect. They made my payments a little lower which was nice and I've recommended them to somebody else.

Someone called me from the previous mortgage company that I was first with, which was affiliated with HomeDirect Mortgage, and the rep gave me an idea of what I will be paying if I did the refinance. It looked like it would save me $200 and bring the interest rate down. I went for it to take advantage of the FHA percentage decrease right before the interest rates go up. The rep sent that proposal over, I sighed it and she began pooling the credit and looking at what we had. She found a profit, sent the paperwork out to me and I sent it back. She looked at evaluating the property so she contacted the person who did the appraisal and had them update their appraisal.
The process has been real simple because I really didn't do that much and it has been a great deal. However, she explained it to me that it would take so much for me to retax and get back the money I was paying out. It would take about 19 months before I recover what I spent out but on a monthly basis, it decreased by about $215.

I had refinanced my house and I had to shop around for someone who knew how to do a VA loan due to a divorce. HomeDirect Mortgage gave me the rate that I requested and they said that they could do a VA loan refinance. I had to give them all the tax, income and house information, but I was a little upset on the day that I was to be closed. They called to inform me that my ex-wife didn’t sign the paper that was due weeks ago and that they were going to have to cancel and restart the mortgage process. I flipped out and I got my ex who at that time was overseas. I had to contact my lawyer to contact her lawyer to contact her and it was a real pain. It turned out that she put the paperwork in and her lawyer gave me that information. I called back HomeDirect Mortgage and they said, “Yes, it was here. We looked for it again and found it this time.”
The whole process took around 30 to 45 days. I dealt with Tim and I didn’t have any issues with him. He was helpful although his team that was in charge of getting the correct paperwork dropped the ball more than once. I had to go out and sign the papers that were already submitted and resubmit them. The team also wasn’t so personable. But the rate and terms of the mortgage were fair especially the percent that I got. As it works right now, everything is going smoothly. The whole mortgage thing is just not one thing to go through and there are other reasons to that.

After the conversation with them, the rep said that they had the best deals. I had a couple of other calls and in fact, HomeDirect did have the best deal so I went with them. They gathered the proper documents, I passed a couple of years of taxes and paid stubs and insurance coverage for the property and existing balances on any mortgages. I uploaded those information and completed the online application. I signed the papers and waited for the decision. The online processing saves a lot of time. It expedites submitting the application and it is always secure. I like it. It is better than having to mail something.
I wish the waiting time could have improved but I know they have some checks and balances that they need to do to ensure that the loan is legitimate so I’m okay with that. The reps were great as well. One of them walked along with me through the whole process until I got to the processor. I’ve had two mortgages with HomeDirect over the years. I previously worked with somebody from HomeDirect and had a good experience so I decided to reach out to her when I decided to purchase another property. When I first I worked with her, I found her through Zillow Mortgage. I let her know that since we had an incentive, we were thinking about moving out to San Francisco and I was looking to get pre-approved so that I can start aggressively looking for a place.
She had some existing information on me from the previous mortgage so she asked for a number of different items from me, which I’ve provided quickly. She got me pre-approved very quickly. I then started looking very aggressively at the housing market here. It’s not uncommon that there’d be 10 or 15 people betting on the same houses, sometimes even more. And so, I let her know it might be a while. She checked in with me every few weeks and I informed her when an offer had been accepted and we were under contract. She was excellent and definitely one of the best I’ve ever worked with.
I have loaned five or six properties and own three right now. Unfortunately, in the middle of the process the rates had fluctuated downward, but since I have a lock, there wasn’t a whole lot I can do. It was a little disappointing on that front, just when I started feeling that I was going to close on a loan which I was going to have to refinance after a very short period.
With the first loan that she did for me, we had a very aggressive close from 20 days and she was concerned about it. We missed it because the appraiser took forever to turnaround the appraisal and so we missed the closing date. My realtor had to pay the penalty to the seller. The recent loan went very quick and went faster than the first time. We could have closed very early but I explained that it made more sense to just close on time because I was moving out another property.
The underwriters come back and ask for a ton of things before I could get the final approval and sometimes the turnaround time is really ugly. The amount of time that it takes to find out what’s missing, have it communicated, turn it back in, have them evaluated sometimes is really long. But with HomeDirect, it was faster. The person I worked with was a lot more aware of what the underwriters ask for and avoided the back and forth that I’ve seen happen before.
Working with somebody who’s flaky and doesn’t know what they’re doing is a giant pain. But working with somebody who I could trust, I was confident that she would get things done and that there wouldn't be any issue. Dealing with somebody who was professional and knew what to do so that I could close a deal alleviated a lot of stress. I’ve recommended her to people. In fact,my realtor has her info and has been in touch with her. But the most important thing is the homeowner rate. Having someone that I trust who says that they could do the deal is important. However, if the rates are not competitive, then I’d tell others to go elsewhere. They’ve been excellent. However, it would really be nice if they could be paperless. It’s such a drag to receive a paper statement which is a total waste of money.

I bought a new home and I didn't want to go through a traditional brick and mortar bank for my mortgage. I found HomeDirect and I had some initial email exchange with one of their representatives about the order of things and what steps I had to take. I am very impatient when it comes to any sort of application process, but the online application process of HomeDirect seemed pretty easy and was relatively painless. And the process was completed in a very reasonable amount of time.
My rep was Nate and he was very responsive. Even if I sent him questions after hours, he responded in the evening. I didn't have to do a lot of work and he just really helped to guide me directly. He wasn't the first person I talked to as I probed around and talked to some other folks. But Nate seemed to be the most trustworthy and was also easy to keep along with. This was my first mortgage process and with HomeDirect, I have a higher APR than I would have about paying my own mortgage insurance and I'm happy with that.

I had my mortgage with my original financial institution and I got my loan from when I bought my home. Then it was sold to another company and that company also owns HomeDirect Mortgage. I have an FHA and they had a streamline FHA available to knock my PMI down. I went with them and did a small re-fi, pulling just enough money to get my PMI down. HomeDirect had a better product to offer in my re-fi with the same company that I was already with. They reached out to me and they were great to work with.
The process was a streamline FHA, which was kind of adjusting what I already had. I didn't have to pull a whole lot of documentation together, where I worked in, bank statements and all that. They pretty much handled everything and they just sent me the documents to sign. I went through them and did my due diligence. It was a very easy process. I signed five documents and I was done.
The guy that I dealt with at HomeDirect was great. He was on top of it the whole time. If I had any questions, he always answered me back right away. He sent everything in a timely fashion like he said he would and executed it very well. It was, pretty much, a flawless transition. Although I wish my rates would be a little bit lower. But they got the PMI down, they got my monthly payment down and I didn't lose the three years I'd already paid in.
HomeDirect freed up a little bit of extra cash every month and makes it really easy to make payments online. They should just keep doing what they are doing. As long they keep the same customer service that the way they did to me, they shouldn't have a problem. I'd definitely recommend them. They were easy to work with and they had good customer service. They're straight up with you as far as giving you the information to get your processes done. As long as you give them what they asked of you that they need, then they're going to proceed with it.

I started looking for mortgage back in April then I refinanced in July. HomeDirect was the first company that called me but they were the fourth company that I dealt with. They took three days to respond and I had cogently resent certain things. They were the only ones who were willing to work with me. My representative told me the things that I needed and once they were sent to him, he took care of the rest. My interaction with the representative was one of the better experiences I had with HomeDirect. I dealt with two people and they were professional about everything and were quick to respond. They returned my emails and answered my questions.
Everything was done online other than having to have the notary come to our house. I also had a direct number to the representative but once the process started, everything was returned in the email immediately. It was an easy, worry-free process. I got a great rate because I went VA. The VA funding fee was a little steep and my closing cost took a huge chunk of my refinance. But in the situation that I was in, it was something that I had to go with. HomeDirect has impacted my life in a positive way. I was able to set-up my new mortgage and got rid of all debt, credit cards and even paid my vehicles off. I was able to help my oldest son in college as well. I told my sister about our experience with HomeDirect because she hasn't refinanced her home yet.

I needed a mortgage to buy a house. HomeDirect had the lowest mortgage rate at the time they were offering it to us. I went through Zillow and the agent chose HomeDirect, they were offering 3.25%. He asked me to turn in my paperwork like my VA, stuff about home, how much I made and my Social Security. The pre-approval process took a few days and it took two months to close everything which I liked. My loan officer was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He put me at ease a lot of time. My real estate agent though would kind of set me straight on what this guy was telling me.
When I tell others I have 3.25, they're all, “What?” and they tell me that was excellent. The only thing that worries me about that is I don’t know if I could ever refinance it if I ever wanted to because I don't know if I'd ever find anything that would beat that. Everything has been good so far and I would definitely recommend HomeDirect to anybody else who's looking around.

I wanted to get new furniture, get the house painted and home repairs. We wanted money out of the house and not out of our savings. We dealt with an individual before named David that handled the mortgage for us with another company, and we were pleased with his service. When we called him, he had moved to HomeDirect so we went with him. He told us what we needed then I put it together and faxed it to him. He locked in a better rate for us and we had to wait a period of time because we had a hot water heater that went off which damaged and we could not close until the repairs were done on that specific room.
But other than that, it was a very easy process. Then someone came to the house to sign the closing documents. We were very comfortable with David who was very responsive. We got the repairs done to our house and I got some new furniture that I wanted after 27 years. Our mortgage payment is a few dollars more than it was so all in all it was a very good experience and we've been very pleased.

I want to make a good mortgage payment because no one wants to pay the rent. At that time, I responded to an email from HomeDirect Mortgage and they end up contacting me. And since they had pretty good rates, I went with them. The application process went smoothly. They told me exactly what I needed and they ended up running the whole process and made sure they got my information. They got mostly my information through the current mortgage that I had set up before from Midland Bank, which they were affiliated with.
In addition, the people I talked to were really nice. They were very clear as far as everything that I needed to bring and needed to have. The only part that I didn't like was the signing. You just keep signing to where your hands were ready to fall off. But it was just a normal process. Since working with HomeDirect, I was able to lower my payment a little bit. And the terms I received was good. I recommend them.

I applied online and got a refinance with HomeDirect Mortgage December last year. The entire application process took around two to five months. The rep that I interacted with was okay. I told them to do the mortgage payment through my checking account and it took me two weeks to redo it. Then they found out again it was opened and I had to fax them. I hated it. Nevertheless, everything is all set now and it’s good. I hope they will pay my real estate tax. The rate and the terms of the mortgage are okay, although it’s higher. It’s 3.5 or something and I used to have 3.25. This is my digit in the house because they refinanced me then they didn’t do the 3.25. They raised it up to 3 point something.
My experience with HomeDirect Mortgage is all right but not perfect. During the first month, they didn’t pay my taxes, which is included. I had to resubmit it and fax it, and now I have the bills from I don’t know and everything’s fine. I have my taxes sent to me and they’re supposed to say that it’s included in my mortgage. I refinanced it because my wife died and I told them to take my wife’s name off. They said all the way, "You could go take your wife's name." What I hate is to refinance. When your wife dies, mortgage people should never do that. They should take off her name on a mortgage but they said, “No, you have to do the refinance,” and it’s ridiculous, that’s why I don’t like it.

I wanted a house and I had the option of either making a substantial down payment or not. I found that HomeDirect had a very good rate when I bought my first house from the Bank of Kansas City Financial. Bank of Kansas City Financial eventually rebranded itself as HomeDirect so when I got my most recent mortgage, I used the same people from the previous mortgage.
I ended up getting three mortgages. The first one was the standard VA first time homebuyer. But then I wanted to sell that house and buy a new one. I refinanced the first house to a traditional mortgage, which it was on for about a month before it got sold. I purchased the second house with an original VA loan as well. It's the third mortgage, even though the third is the original VA loan because I converted the second one in the process.
I would have used Laurie, the mortgage broker I used from HomeDirect if she works for anybody. She's very responsive. All the paperwork that I need to fill-out, she tells me exactly what I was supposed to do. She was on some Hawaiian vacation and she sent me a pre-approval letter. I couldn't believe she did that so, wherever she would go, I would go. She's also extremely sweet and very polite. She was able to do pretty much everything I had asked even though when you're getting a mortgage to get a third mortgage is an unusual transaction. She didn't act like it's unusual at all. She did it very quickly and professionally. The closing was on time and the funding came in on time. She did extremely well throughout the entire three transactions.
I'm extremely comfortable with her. The very first time, I got a referral to her from LendingTree. I originally started talking to her because she had the best deal. There's one other that came in a little bit better later on in the process but I was so comfortable working with her, I didn't really care. Securing the loan wasn't terribly difficult. I'm very organized and so is Laurie. I'm a sole proprietor and she said, "Hey, you have set of two years of auto tax returns." I sent them right over. It takes people usually a minute to get to but I had them because I have very meticulous tax records.
Sometimes, being a sole proprietor makes it difficult to get a mortgage. But for me, it wasn't a problem because she knew exactly what documentation the underwriter needed and I have all of it. Her assistant sold out all the paperwork and all I did was click to sign. For some of the mortgage loan itself, along with the sales paperwork, that came like a notary and physically comes to your house. It is hundreds of forms and it takes two hours to finish. The process could have gone a lot faster. We dragged it out a little bit because we wanted the refinance to go through before the second loan came up. If I wanted to turn the transaction in two weeks, we could have done it. We ended up taking six weeks just because that's what works for everybody.
The mortgage I got was very competitive. The first time, I really paid careful attention to rates and points, the lender's credit and all that stuff, by the second and third time I was doing this, I would have just taken whatever Laurie says. She said that the rate was x, then I would have just gone with it. Unless it was something higher than the unqualified rates. The B paper rates that are advertised on the internet was really out of whack. But if it's in range of a competitive rate and I like them enough, I would have gone through with it.

A friend who's in the mortgage industry advised me to go to Zillow and look for a mortgage through mortgage companies on there, and I came across HomeDirect Mortgage. HomeDirect had close to 1,980 reviews and they had an overall rating of 5 stars. When I contacted them and started working with the loan officer, I was sold on the idea that they don’t sell their loans, which was what already happened to my loan once. They also focused more on servicing the loans and keeping them for life. As a result, that helped keep their initial cost of doing the loan low. They did the whole loan for around $1,000 including all the closing cost and I also dropped my rate by a quarter percent and got cash out so it was a very good deal.
Applying online was very easy and the entire process from application to underwriting took three weeks. It was very quick and efficient. The rep and I interacted mainly through phone and emails. He was very prompt with any kind of replies and he even made himself available on Saturdays. He was very available and always very courteous. I dealt with a second person, who was from the underwriting department, and he was also very professional. Everything was simple and HomeDirect made the payments easy.
HomeDirect also got a very good up-to-date website. I had Direct Pay set up on it and it works very well. And if I ever need to log in or look at anything, it's all there available for me so I don’t have to call any kind of a customer system’s line. It's self-taught and it has assisted me because I've been able to complete my business in a very quick and efficient manner and it doesn’t take up my personal time unreasonably. It was an investment of a property and we were in the transition of selling our home and moving into a new one. HomeDirect was able to make that paperwork happen as our closing of our other house was happening. Our investment property was then becoming a primary residence and they were very helpful on that.
Our situation was very unique and with a certain legal requirements. PNC had a note on this investment property before and they were very neglectful in telling me what was still needed and required whether it was a surprise or not, and they expected me to know what I'm supposed to do. But Jim, our loan officer from HomeDirect, was very thorough in making sure that we got the proper documents and was with a numbered list of documents we needed. HomeDirect made it very easy on us. I saw the idea that the VA loans were on a verge of the low rate and there were a lot of lenders with HomeDirect Mortgage being one of them that would allow me to do that so I applied for a VA loan. When it came back, it was a good deal. I received several phone calls from people and Ryan was the most straightforward. He was easy to work with and very knowledgeable so my interaction with him made me go with HomeDirect Mortgage. I filled out the application and provided them with bank statements, a copy of my mortgage from Bank of America and a few other things, and my veteran information. That got everything started and they gave me pre-approval. And then from there, we set up the appraisal and they started asking for different paperwork, price factors. We all had the value we needed and then I got approved, and the end of the road to a mortgage.
The online application process was easy and straightforward. A lot of these things tend to be stressful no matter what but this was easy to work with and Ryan was there. He answered any question I had and was very responsive. A lot of times when you're working with people you talk to somebody and then the next thing you know you're trying to get responses and some help and you're talking to other people. But with HomeDirect every time I needed some help or direct contact, either by phone call or by email or text, Ryan was there to walk me through a lot of things so it really worked well. The whole application took five to six weeks. HomeDirect called me when everything was going to underwriting and helped me set up. And once it went through underwriting they helped me set up the closing.
And at the closing it turned out that there was a problem because my previous mortgage people had already paid taxes for the quarter so I contacted Ryan and found out of the other contractors, Brian. He set me up with the online financing company and we worked it all out and the 3-party conversation. So they helped me through all and that was perfect. After the closing they provided me with all the paperwork I needed and helped me to set up my online payment and my mortgage. The customer service for setting up my loan was a breeze. They sent me a link in the email then I clicked on that and it took me right to my mortgage, which was really great. I didn't have to enter any information or do anything like that. Once I clicked that link it brought me to my mortgage accounts and I set up my banks and do my payments so it worked perfectly.
It was done well although I got a little frustrated that my appraisal took a while to get back. But as I researched it I found out that most VA appraisals take a very long time. The rate and term of the mortgage I received were perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything. They showed me some options that I didn't know existed, which turned to be very nice for me post-financially, and using my mortgage payments and sitting into a mortgage product was much better than the one I was in. HomeDirect Mortgage has a great and knowledgeable mortgage staff and great customer service.

I wanted to refinance my home and HomeDirect called me. I looked around but their offer was the best I could do with the interest rate that I got so I went with them. John, their representative, answered all my questions, then I gave them the paperwork they needed through email. Later, we talked over the phone and it didn't take long for my application to be approved. In fact, it took longer to get that first mortgage before I went with HomeDirect and got the refinance. So far, their service has been really good. I still call John from time to time with questions, and he answers or calls me back. It's been very smooth and HomeDirect has been doing what they need to do.

I purchased a brand new home and was looking for a VA loan. I went to a website and HomeDirect Mortgage was the fastest to call me. Their online application was easy. I copied and pasted and got that done to them. They asked for something new and I gave it to them. They communicated very well and it was great. The process, from application to underwriting, was fast and took 40 days. I purchased quite a few homes over the years and this was easy and we closed on time. Plus, the rate and the terms were very competitive. Also, their reps were very responsive to answer my questions via email, or when I placed the call, they answered and responded quickly. There was a little time difference as they were in another state but they went pretty fast.
I worked with Matthew and I was impressed by his honesty and willingness to work with us in getting this VA loan done. However, he could have given me the complete list of what he needed because I asked originally if he needed a certain document, and he said no. Then at the end, we were scrambling because underwriting wanted it. One is always concerned when doing a loan over the Internet and out of state. It was a little unnerving especially when you get weird phone calls from the credit agencies asking personal questions about my bank accounts. I was very concerned about releasing some information but I did.

My lender put us to HomeDirect. I worked with Tim and he was quick on getting back at questions about the house and contracts and even with questions that weren't about lending. If he didn’t have an answer, he would direct me to get the answer. I prequalified so knew what I was going into. The process was easy at first but it ended up having problems with my bank. It looked like the good faith money wherein someone must have taken a picture and processed the check that way. But my bank didn’t process it with the check number and the bank statement and they needed to see the actual check number on the bank statement.
It worked out in the end and the process moved pretty smooth. It was a reflection of the people processing it for Tim. The whole process took eight weeks. Tim was effective and I felt comfortable working with him. I was impressed that he came to my job to get the original papers he needed since he knew I couldn’t drop it off. Tim got me a good rate too. He did his best for me and I would recommend him.

My wife and I had moved to Seattle and we finally settled down. The market was continuing to rise in terms of home prices so we figured it was now or never in looking into a mortgage. Meanwhile, interest rates were low and I could use a VA loan. I got underwritten and was read by eight different lenders including HomeDirect Mortgage. When it came time to put in an offer, we put in a clause that said, “One of eight different lenders.” And when it was accepted and was time to lock, I called all of the eight lenders and asked them what their best deal was. I found the cheapest rate with HomeDirect Mortgage and I felt very comfortable working with them. We ended up with a 3.5 percent loan but 5700 dollars in credit.
The loan officer was really good and he knew exactly what he was talking about. He was very honest with me and I was able to cross check the information he gave me fairly easily. He was fast, accurate and he got me through the process and in the closing. I never felt like I didn’t know where I was going or what I was supposed to be doing and that was one of the best parts. HomeDirect Mortgage was amazing. I would tell a friend to go to HomeDirect Mortgage and I’ll send them directly to the guy who I worked with.

HomeDirect was a recommended website by Trulia and the VA loan process was extremely short and easy. I spoke with Andrew, my loan officer, and I gave him some basic information. I got a preapproval letter and, together with my real estate agent, started looking at a couple houses. The first one that I wanted to put an offer on was within the price range I was looking for. The offer was accepted and I bought a new house. The rates were phenomenal and the whole process beginning from speaking with Andrew to moving into the house was about 30 days.
When I spoke with Andrew and we've done the preapproval, we had been building our credit up to the levels where I wanted it and he assured me that the numbers would not go down because he had all the credit for our mortgage. But I watch my credit scores religiously and it dropped about 17 points. I don’t know if that was his fault, but that was the only disappointing about the whole experience. Nevertheless, everything worked out fine and the numbers have gone back up since. I couldn’t have been happier with the process and I would refer my friends to Andrew.

I wanted a reduction in interest rate. HomeDirect Mortgage was the most engaged, responsive and had the lowest available rate at that time so I applied for their VA or fixed fee loan program. It started out as an inquiry through LendingTree where they showed the lowest rate of a reputable bank that I would have considered going through. I was contacted by the loan officer within an hour and I coordinated with him. The only other person whom I dealt with besides the loan officer was the processor and that person was very helpful as well. The process of obtaining the mortgage was very easy and we ended up closing in less than a month.
The rate that I got from them was great and I wouldn't have anticipated being able to get it at the time. So, I was happy to see that occur. Working with them has freed up a little monthly cash flow, too, so that has been good. Also, I appreciated their efforts and I was glad I found the mortgage lender that gave me favorable rate terms. He said what he can do for me. This guy was seriously on top of things. So I went ahead with him. He told what he needed. I’m the type of person that would give it to him within an hour. So then I would start doing my checklist. I got the term and then I would confirm it through his secretary. Then they said they needed something else so I’d give it to him and he got it.
It was just so smooth. I was blown away. It worked out indeed. With Quicken Loans, they didn't get back with me. I understand people are busy. But I don’t have a problem with the secretary from HomeDirect Mortgage. The emails were so fast and I would confirm it. I'm not dealing with Quicken Loans anymore because the guy from HomeDirect was awesome.
Also, the rate was very simple. This is the amount of money that you’re going to have per month. Even at that, when I did that, I’m a 100 percent disabled from the military. You get a lot of money off from county taxes for your home. So it worked out. I was hoping to get an extra $100 off but has nothing to do with the one I spoke with. It has to do with the country catching up and that’s eventually going to happen. So instead of $1,900 a month, it’s going to be about to be changed to $1,800 a month through escrow. Everything was just awesome. I’ve already recommended HomeDirect to other family members.

We borrowed money and then the next thing we knew, the bills added up to a lot at the end of the month on our payment and we got ourselves in a bit of a financial problem. My wife didn't like getting a mortgage, but it's either that or I would file bankruptcy. I told her that we'll take care of our responsibilities and not buy anything anymore until we're ready to retire and get this loan paid down, which is what we're doing. We started our loan through Quicken Loans and the rep promised an amount that was excessive of what we said, so they ended up getting $500 out of me. I found that Wells Fargo was going to offer me a lower interest, so I cancelled Quicken and started with Wells Fargo.
We were almost closed when Julie contacted me through HomeDirect Mortgage and offered something which I thought was going to be a lot less, but all the other bills still ended up costing us almost the same amount for the loan. I went with HomeDirect, though if Wells Fargo had given me a lower interest, then I would have stayed with them. Also, Wells Fargo wanted to charge me the APR of what they were going to charge because I was getting the loan on the amount of borrowing from the cost of the loan itself. I was going to charge that on top of the existing loan which would have been more money. I didn’t have to pay that through HomeDirect because they were a mortgage company, not a bank.
HomeDirect quoted us the lowest interest rate, which was only a couple of points lower than Wells Fargo's, but for 30 years, that would mean a lot of money at the end of the finance on our final payment. The lower interest took care of a lot of bills, so now I can almost double pay my home loan per month. That’ll cut the interest down a lot the first five years if they take a lot of interest, especially if they're going to not allow us to write our interest off on our taxes if the bill passes.
Our termite inspection was over a certain so many days and I had to get another one done. Within a few days, I'm not going to have termites, so I had to pay to have the new termite inspector come and redo the inspection even though I had one through Wells Fargo. I'm trying to hurry and get the amount down as much even though we've only started the loan process. HomeDirect was quick because we had so much already ready so they didn’t have to wait around before I could put anything. Plus we did a lot of signatures on e-file through their loan application which was easy.
Julie did an outstanding procedure with our loan and walked us through it well. If I had a question, she'd contact me, tell me what to do and explain things really well. She was quick on answering me back even when she was on vacation with her husband. If I had a question that she didn’t quite know, she'd double check to make sure her answer was correct and she'd get right back with me the next day. Anything she said, she stepped through versus the guys over at Wells Fargo and Quicken Loans. She was thorough with what she needed to explain to us for us to feel comfortable enough to go with the loan. I was happy with her and I'd get a loan again for her because she was a topnotch salesperson.
When I made my first payment, I wanted to go ahead and put it towards the principal, but HomeDirect put it towards my initial payment when my payment wasn’t due. When I made the second payment, I looked to see and asked why they have the phone number for us to say where we want to put our money, yet they put it where they want. I was irritated, but then the rep asked if I wanted him to change it. I said no because if they did that, then they'd have to go back and reimburse me for the interest that I'm being charged because it would have been $1400 less.
I'm computer literate so it was easy going through and getting my payments done or even over the phone because I can make a payment over the phone if I wanted. HomeDirect made my monthly payments a lot easier and I feel like I lost a lot of weight off my shoulders. I'm glad it's done and over with and I have a little extra money at the end of the month, which I could either pay towards my loan or put into the bank for a little savings.

He sent me some paperwork and we signed it. He also scheduled most of the other appraisals. We signed for more things, then it took about 30 days or so to close. I worked mainly with one person, plus his assistant. It went very well and smoothly. I liked that he wasn't very pushy. The rate was everything I hoped it would be and I'm satisfied.

HomeDirect offered me the best interest rates and the application process took less than six weeks, which was very quick. I initially heard from Joshua on the 7th of June, and we started out on June 28th. I got the appraisal document on the 6th of July, while the closing document was on the 10th. There was very good communication back and forth, exactly the documents or the things I needed to complete and the process to do that. We did a lot online and it was very simple. HomeDirect was more than helpful and they're great to work with. The process was smooth, easy and if I had to do it all over again, I would like to request the same people.

This is my first house and it was a lot easier to deal with HomeDirect Mortgage than a couple of other places I was talking with. When I started talking to Chad, he was really upfront with me. He gave me the best interest rate I found and I didn’t have to try to haggle with him. He didn’t put any pressure on the offer either and it was one of the better ones I was offered when I was looking at houses.
After I put a bid in and it was accepted, the process for the SBA loan lasted a month. There was the filling out of all the paperwork and going back and forth with the seller, and Chad stayed in good contact with me. He made sure I was cool with anything and it didn’t matter what time I called, he would always answer the phone or respond to an email and walk me through everything I needed help with or if I was stressed-out about something. The way he handled everything was really good. I thanked him after everything was said and done. I came to them with everything I needed and they were very helpful throughout the whole process. The biggest thing was giving people their best interest rate from the jump. That’ll help them keep business for sure.

We were trying to find a mortgage at a short notice because we were never intending to buy a house, but eventually purchased a new one. A friend of mine used HomeDirect for a similar situation that we were in and he told us about it. We checked it out and their rates were significantly beneficial. The loan officer was fantastic and very responsive every time we called, and she understood that I had odd hours and a weird schedule. If she didn't know the answer, she was more than willing to find out. At the end of the day, every loan officer has a balance between making the company money and protecting the consumer, and she did a good job of making sure that my interests were met in addition to the interests of the company, unfortunately. There was a lot of work during the process and hiccups that were thrown in the mix, but we eventually overcame them, which is fantastic. HomeDirect eliminated a little bit of the stress associated in purchasing a home.

We had such a good experience with HomeDirect Mortgage the first time around. And since the first one went so smoothly, we refinanced the property after that. It was an investment property and we knew we were going to get a mortgage. We got a 30-year fixed loan program. We knew the lending agent and have worked with him when he was at his previous company. When he moved to HomeDirect Mortgage we decided to give him a chance and it worked out really well.
Obtaining our mortgage was straightforward. We went through pre-qualification, sharing preliminary information, identifying the property, then going through the whole application process and providing all the documentation, plus underwriting. From the time that we got it under contract until it closed, it was about four weeks. It was extremely timely and I was blown away that he got it done in that amount of time since it was an extremely complicated process because we have so many rental properties. Six to seven is more standard for something like this.
Plus, the rates and terms were better than expected. We shopped around to make sure that the rates we were getting from HomeDirect were competitive and it was better than what we got from others. Also, HomeDirect keeps most of their own mortgages, so their marketplace is a little bit different than that of others. That’ll be better in some situations and it was better in ours. It was convenient enough that we went through a second refinance a couple of weeks after the first one closed. We were looking to do a third refinance after that but opted not to do so for personal reasons. However, we have been perfectly comfortable working with them.
The online system, once it moves from the application to the mortgage, has been fantastic. It is extremely intuitive and easy to work with. Plus, I love knowing that any future mortgages done through HomeDirect will be owned by the same lender, long term. We have 10 mortgages with about eight different companies. Our favorite to hold our mortgage is HomeDirect.

I was getting my first house and I heard about HomeDirect through a co-worker who was also a real-estate agent. They were the only place I went to because they had the best rates and it was a lot lower than over here that we could find. The rate was what I was mostly worried about, not the term, but the house is going to be a rental after I live in it for a year, so technically, my renters will eventually pay it off. I got approved for a conventional loan, and then I shopped for houses forever because the market over here is crazy. I finally found one, and I had to complete some papers. A lender named Aspen was recommended to me and she was awesome. I'm all the way over in Washington state, so the time-lapse was a little crazy, but she always got back to me right when it was 9:00 am for her.
I had all the documentation she needed and things worked out perfectly. I had to do something with my student loan that was a little tricky but that ended up working out. The online auto pay is awesome too. HomeDirect was all around a good experience. They got me my first home and if I want to get my next house eventually, I would go through them as well. Some of my buddies back in Spokane were looking to get a home as well, so I told them that HomeDirect has the best rates. I also told them to give Aspen a call for a walkthrough process where she will explain to them everything they need to know like she did with me.

HomeDirect is great. I went through LendingTree and they popped up. They and the other one were offering the lowest interest rates. I applied to both of them and when I spoke to the loan broker from HomeDirect, we worked out a plan for the interest and then the buyout when it comes to getting some cash-out value since I’m doing the VA loans. We wanted to use the cash-out of the house for another payoff. The broker worked with me and got me what I was looking for pretty quickly and easily, so I went with HomeDirect. He was easygoing and really helpful. I got a 30-year fixed loan and I sent them over the stuff and the process took eight days. It was very easy and very efficient. The rate I got was at 3.7% in getting $10,000 out for closing. That’s better than most people got on their normal mortgage.
I got approved for a 3.2% but I did the upper levels so I felt good and it’s also great to my credit. I got a good interest rate and I had the bonus. I'm might look at refinancing a couple years down the road just to lower the interest down again but it did what I needed it to. Plus, I’m impressed with their representative’s promptness, understanding and the ease of working with him. I explained what I wanted and he provided it that day. I asked him a lot of questions, but he had the answers. It was an easy day. The bigger issues, although, were my realtor and all the actual paperwork stuff. But we're satisfied with our new house and we made the move. The money helped all around. We used it to buy other stuff as well as pay one of my student loans.

My mother passed away so I had to refinance the house because she had a reverse mortgage on it. There was a ton of paperwork that had to be submitted and then it went through HomeDirect's first level review. They came back with some additional requests and I fulfilled those. All that took some time but there were no delays and the loan was signed, sealed and delivered in less than three months. Although the rate was not the lowest, it was competitive. Besides, there weren't any of the fees attached to some of the lower mortgages so when all was said and done, it probably came out as lower than the other mortgages that I looked into. Also, the two reps that I interacted with were very personable and absolutely on top of things. They answered all my questions and got back to me when I left phone messages. Everyone was professional, confident and ready to help in any way they could.
Working with HomeDirect got the reverse mortgage paid off and I only had 90 days to do that with the federal government. Then after six months' time and doing some remodeling in the house, I was able to refinance at a lower rate and take cash out. The cash paid back the money into my own account 'cause I had paid out for the renovations. Now the house is rented out and that's paying the mortgage payment as well as earning some positive cash flows.

HomeDirect Mortgage was already affiliated with the bank that I originally had my mortgage with. And looking at all the numbers, I did a refinance with them. The process was relatively easy despite the time constraint on my side. My rep also went on vacation for a while, which was no problem at all. It took a little while for us to get together but once we did, all I had to do was submit a small amount of paperwork because they already had everything else. And once we started out, it only took a couple of weeks to complete the process.
My rep and I communicated mostly by email and sometimes by phone. He was really prompt with everything I asked and he answered all my questions. HomeDirect did the best they could do to make the process not confounding. And their service was good. I pay a small amount less per month for the same mortgage but I thought I could save a couple of $100. The only thing I don’t like is that I still get letters from the same bank asking for me to do more refinance. But, I would recommend HomeDirect.

The first one said that I didn’t have insurance which I did. Three weeks later, the second one said that I didn’t have insurance on the house so they were going to charge me for the week before it actually closed. When we needed to buy a house, we applied for mortgage with HomeDirect considering their competitive rate and their familiarity with the VA loan process. I spoke with someone over the phone to initiate the whole thing. And then the majority of the application process and everything else was done via computer. They had a portal on their website where we can log in and complete the majority of stuff. We can upload any of the documentation that they needed in the following steps. And then, they started contacting the VA, who then sourced my income. I didn't have to talk to VA at all during the process. HomeDirect communicated with them. After that, HomeDirect initiated the closing. They used an outside title company that they sub-contracted before, they set all that up. And then the title company had a local lawyer, a real estate attorney for the closing.
The process was easy and took about 90 days until we closed. It had to do with them subcontracting to the title company, which added time to it. My wife changing employers through the process added time to it as well. We dealt with HomeDirect’s rep and he seemed to be very knowledgeable and friendly. The only issues we had were with the title company choosing to use a lawyer as far as Connecticut and we live up in Massachusetts. Most of the difficulties that we had were later on with the seller and negotiations with them over the closing cost. And then, I called up under communication and applied. I got the pre-approval done, provided all the information that they requested and it all worked out. The process took about 45 days. It’s very simple. The loan officer knows a lot as well. He's very responsive, personable and straightforward. If I’ve had any questions, anytime that I called, he was able to get back to me right away. I’m kind of a worry-wart and so whenever I send him something out, he made sure that he replied to me right away even if just to tell me that he got what I said, unlike my interactions with other folks who would just wait in silence.
Also, the rate that I received from HomeDirect was excellent. HomeDirect definitely had a great offering. The rate and the closings costs from others were more expensive. I ended up walking away from the other lender but I hadn’t done any shopping around until the second time because that was my bank. I wanted to stick with them just because they’re my bank and it’s easier to have everything with them. I gave them an opportunity but they couldn’t get to where HomeDirect was at. We applied for a mortgage for a new home. The HomeDirect Mortgage agent that helped us was very direct with the information and was very clear about the out-of-pocket cost as we approached for closing. He informed us of all the options and stuff and was very helpful and extremely sharp. The application process was super quick. It was our second time buying a house and it was so simple and straight to the point and there weren’t any hidden fees. It was exactly what it said was going to be and exactly the date it was closed was the day we closed and there were no surprises. Our loan officer was totally on the ball with everything. He went out of his way to make sure that the closing attorney in the state of Georgia had all the information and that they were aware that we weren’t coming for the day of close and that we will be doing things by mail prior. He helped me make sure that was also taking place on time and early.
We spoke the day that I signed the paperwork in the bank with my husband. The rate and terms given were fair. We were able to save money and HomeDirect Mortgage definitely helped make it possible. We are USAA customers and we originally had our first home through USAA Savings Bank and their fees were extremely high. The process took a really long time and it was very complicated, and I remember it being overwhelming. And this time around, everything was completely straightforward and our loan officer was there every step of the way just to say, “Hey, this is the way this is and that’s what this is.” He’d say, “This is what to expect.”
And when we were house shopping, he even worked at free paperwork showing if we bought a house at this door amount, this is how much money will come out of pocket. If we bought a house at this door amount, this is how much money to expect. He went over and above. The whole process was seamless and it was great. A buddy of mine used Aspen via HomeDirect Mortgage and had great things to say about her. I’ve used National Bank of Kent City in the past and the guy I used before went out of the business. When I called him, he also recommended Aspen. Then I shopped around and HomeDirect Mortgage beat all the rates of a couple of local lenders that I was looking at. So I went with Aspen and she did a really good job. I’ve worked with some lenders in the past who I felt were a little aggressive and not always out for the best interests of the buyer. But Aspen was very easy to work with and I never felt like there was anything dishonest being presented to me. She just shot me straight.
We used the conventional loan and had to supply a lot of documentation. We also had to get some documents ahead of time. We were renting a home and the homeowner went into foreclosure. We tried buying it but that fell apart so we had to make a move quickly. Initially, Aspen wanted some details about the money I made and about any debts. Then we got all the quotes. Once we said to go for it, I had to supply a lot more details. I own a couple of homes so I had to track down homeowner's association bills. That was a big pain for me. But everything was electronically signed and that was the easy part for me. It was nice not having to mail things back and forth. I emailed and scanned my Leave and Earnings statements, all my Mutual Funds, IRAs, and all my bank account statements.
Aspen was also very specific about how to get official stuff which I wished I had prior. I just refinanced on another home and everything has gotten a little more strict, which is a good thing. Then I got way ahead prior to closing and I was ready to go a week and a half prior. She was really good about following-up and keeping me on target with everything, more so than my realtor. I was shocked to find out that they didn’t sell their loans, while the other companies I worked with did, but that didn't bother me. I’ve also been told that it’s a good thing that HomeDirect Mortgage doesn't. The underwriting went quickly and was done rather quickly. It was advertised to take about 30 or 45 days, but it was done in under 30 days.
It’s been an excellent experience. This is the third home I bought and I kept my other homes which I got through National Bank of Kansas City. I also have a home with Wells Fargo and they made it a little easier as far as the monthly payments. I mistakenly signed up for automatic withdrawal and I forgot that I did so it got a little weird for me when I made a payment. It was difficult and I had to get a hard check sent to me versus having that electronically wired over to my bank. I've done that before and it was a little easier with Wells Fargo. But HomeDirect made it very simple and I would use them again. Plus, Aspen followed up with me and I really respect her. She was easy to get ahold of and would always return my calls. Plus, she would sit there and endure through my dumb questions.
People ask why I would trust one of these online bank companies over a brick and mortar one, and they’re skeptical of online things. I would tell them to call Aspen and at least get a quote then come back to me. If we compare apples to apples, HomeDirect Mortgage would beat every company that I did price-shopping with.

I took a VA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage to purchase a new house. I've worked with them before with my last loan and had a pleasant experience then. They had one of those “Apply here and get 10 different offers” type of deals and they happened to have the lowest rate. Plus, I liked my loan officer that time whom I was able to use again this time. The process was simple because I'm an existing customer. They'd send me updates on my personal income information. I told Steve, my loan officer that I just got offered a new place and I was hoping to buy a home. He asked me to send over a few things to update and within that day, I had a pre-approval. Outside of that, securing a loan was pretty straightforward.
The initial underwriting took no more than a week and I was up there about getting them the documents. Before, they wanted things to be faxed through several places which was frustrating. But this time, most of it was all digital but it was frustrating to have other people poking around in my stuff. Steve was great and has been doing this for a while. He's very nice, engaged and knowledgeable. He's always there. He gave people he works with the confidence to take out the mortgage. I was reassured that I was going to be able to buy a house.
HomeDirect has a competitive rate. The company I got hired by had several preferred lenders that had discounts and the company was offering the pay points giving unfair advantages to those preferred lenders over HomeDirect. But HomeDirect was able to beat their rate overall without even having to do any last minute extra points. They don't have a brick-and-mortar presence that other banks have which costs money so they're able to offer lower rate, higher returns, and better banking products. I'd definitely recommend going to HomeDirect first to other people and then doing their homework from there.

I bought a house. I searched online for mortgages and Dave, HomeDirect's rep, came up with 5-star ratings. I called him directly then he walked me through the process and told me he was going to give me the best deal. He did a great job. There was a guy that I've used for 10 years and another new one, then Dave, and out of the three, Dave beat everybody out because his service was great, he answered questions, and kept me updated as things were progressing. The process took less than 30 days and we had to do it fairly quickly, so he worked really well. The rates were also good and so far, I've recommended HomeDirect to several people.

I got a VA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage to buy a house. I had all the needed paperwork readily available and getting my mortgage was super easy. And it was easier than buying a car. When buying a home in Savannah, by the time you liked a home, it was gone off the market so the process had to be quick. HomeDirect was understanding and we knocked it out pretty fast. The process took three weeks and there were no hiccups on my end or theirs. I liked the interest rate I got with them, and the rep I was dealing with was a really good guy. He went out of his way to get the insurance and to do some research for me. Working with HomeDirect got me a house. And it was all around a good experience.

He didn't change his mind on things or change the numbers around on me, so it made me feel very comfortable. From the time I started talking with Derek to the time I closed my loan, the process took 5 weeks and it could have gone faster except I had to do some repairs to my house before the appraisal. HomeDirect was exceptional and I was very pleased with the rate and terms. They're very honest and direct as well. The process was extremely well-organized, and I passed this information along through a couple of co-workers. It was a great experience.

When I bought the house 10 years ago, I was at a 4.5% interest rate. I wanted to refinance rather than pay the current interest rate on a higher amount, so I got a fixed VA loan from HomeDirect. I’m a disabled vet and I qualified for a program where the VA gave me $75,000 to have my house handicap equipped. But my house was already specially equipped, so they reimbursed the money and put it against my mortgage. I also got an extra percent off of the interest rate I was paying. I took some equity out and paid some bills off, so it gave me extra money to live on. Also, I had done several online applications in the past and HomeDirect was the easiest one that I ever did. It was wonderful and a fast process which took less than a month. Their customer service rep, Chad, and his assistant were wonderful and they were professional, courteous, stayed in constant contact and took care of everything.

We were relocating and purchasing a new home. I shopped around and HomeDirect had the best rates and they had good reviews. I looked pretty hard, and I have good credit, so they definitely won in that category. I emailed the rep, Kent, first and I submitted the online request, and we spoke within that first day. Kent was very knowledgeable about the VA process itself, especially because we were doing back to back home sale and new home purchase. There were a few hurdles to get through with making sure the closing lined up right and we could transfer funds on time. He spoke with our realtor a few times to help make the process easier for us and if I had any question, I'd give them a call or I'd email, and he would respond within an hour or two generally.
Our interaction with Kent was great and we felt very comfortable working with him. The process was very painless, transparent, and straightforward. They were upfront with what they needed and we got a VA home loan from HomeDirect. I’ve worked with them for about two months now and it’s been good so far. I got an email from a HomeDirect representative and he offered me rates without me even searching for any. The approach he had got me decided on them and he helped me reduce the rate to almost half a point.
Everything was easy in securing the loan. We only had little problems due to some lien on the house because the previous servicing didn’t do the right paperwork. The process got extended for another month but the representative was still able to have my locked rates same as the first time. We communicated via email and phone calls, but mostly email, and his follow up was good. He did it at least two times a week during the whole process. He was eager to get it going and he and his team got it going within all that time. I was going through community mortgage earlier for a home that we purchased in Kansas City area. The gentleman, Rich, who I dealt with at community mortgage left and somebody with community mortgage recommended HomeDirect. I purchased a new home in Alabama so I applied for their conventional loan program. The gentleman, who helped me through the process, established communications early on and he sent me some emails. He called and introduced himself to me at first. He wanted to know a little about what I was applying for and I told him it was a new home construction. He verbally walked me through the process over the phone. He followed that up with some emails that provided a list of documents that he would need initially to get the process going so I supplied those and that started the preapproval process.
He was very professional, timely and prompt in his responses to my questions. He was also clear in his communications to me. He dropped a phone call once in a while to catch up and he wanted to know how the construction of the house is moving along. He showed a vested interest in the process and in making sure that the loan process went smoothly and that he had all the information he needed to close the deal. I got the preapproval very quickly then entered into a contract with our builder. As we got about 45 days out from closing, he started reaching out to me again saying I’m going to need paycheck stubs to verify income. Given that I just started with my new employer on June 1st, I didn’t have that earlier for him. But after a few paychecks, he wanted to see so I sent those to him. I was able to supply most of the documents that he needed right away.
We locked in our rates and it was a smooth process. We had one minor bump as we were getting close to closure. He wanted me to get inspected initially by the inspector of my choice. I fronted the money upfront to do that but on the closing disclosure, he was trying to get any credit for everything that he could from the seller’s $3,500 credit that they were applying to the contract. We could have captured in the closing disclosure had we coordinated better earlier but I was able to get the $3,500 reimbursed which came out of my pocket.
It surprised both of us which he regretted not asking for that document earlier in the process. That would have made things quite a bit smoother towards the end but we got through it and everything else went very well. HomeDirect helped us get into a new home. But, the only criticism I have is that HomeDirect is not compatible with Mint.com. It has no means right now to talk to Bank of Oklahoma so I would like that to be resolved so that Mint has access to my mortgage account and I can be updated on the balance.

A HomeDirect Mortgage rep called me and asked me to refinance. I always get a bunch of letters and calls asking if I wanted to refinance. It seems like scam considering I already had a loan with them with a decent interest rate. So I talked to the rep and asked him why their company was calling me to refinance and he basically told me because he wanted me to stay. So he gave me a bunch of options and advised me what was going to do what, which ones were useful, and with those options, I chose one and ended up working out better on my behalf. He was just very flexible and accommodating. It didn’t seem like he was trying to hold anything back and has gotten me through most of the stuff without any issue.
So far, I’m happy with my program. It was the same rate that I had previously but I was able to get my house re-appraised and I switched to a conventional loan and went from paying $255 a month in primary mortgage insurance after my refinance and appraisal to nothing. I’m putting all that money back into my mortgage. I’m not reaping the benefits quite yet but, I’ll pay off the house earlier so that will be beneficial.

HomeDirect Mortgage was recommended to us by a good friend. We got a VA loan and the loan process was very easy. We gathered a few documents and filled out a form. From start to when we went to closing, the whole process took two months. But that's because we picked when we wanted to close and we could have closed earlier. The HomeDirect rep was honest and straightforward. I was impressed by the speed in which he gave us an answer and his honesty. He was very well-informed but I thought he was a little gruff with a couple of people in the loan process. But I'm not a sensitive person, so it was easy for me to handle. I got a house that I wanted and I would recommend HomeDirect. We would use them again.

I applied a loan for a new home from HomeDirect Mortgage. The loan process was seamless and it was easy. Their staff was experienced and did a good job. They required standard income verification and documents. They also gave me a few different options for loans and made their recommendation of what they felt was best for me. The underwriter requested additional documentation then we got the close. It was a good experience.

I’ve moved because of my company quite a few times and I’ve been through buying quite a few homes. This was the third time I’ve used HomeDirect Mortgage, and from the experience with the first two times, I didn’t even check a different lender this time. The process was pretty easy. HomeDirect had to verify the job status, income and the use of VA loans—the typical steps. The individual who I was working with is what made the difference. As I was looking for my home, I was always playing around and checking the day’s current rates. I would ask, "If I purchase this home at this price, can you shoot me out some examples of what the cost would be, the fees, etcetera?" He was extremely knowledgeable and very timely in responses and that made the process a lot easier.
For the house that I had in Nebraska, they even called me back on a VA reduction program that was in place and walked me through that. They helped me reduce my loan and provided monthly updates. They also gave tips and sent emails out on home efficiency. They’re a good company and it was the best experience that I've had with a mortgage. I would highly recommend HomeDirect to others, at the very least, give them an opportunity to give a quote.

The loan officer was outstanding while we were dealing with them. We were offered a lower rate by half a percent, which would save us 30K off the loan. HomeDirect could not match it because we were rate locked. The issue was when we changed over banks, the loan officer from HomeDirect never sent the VA Appraisal money to the VA appraisal agent. When I asked for reimbursement for the $450, he said he sent it, but the agent keeps saying he never received payment. It has been 6 months and I am still trying to get my money back and it is impossible to try and find another number to reach someone to get help. Other than being out $450 it was a good experience.
Kenneth, I'm sorry for any confusion. I'm having your loan officer reach back out to you. I show a note from 10/19 that funds were sent back. We will be in touch. Thank you for letting us know there is a potential issue still.

There were not too many steps involved and it took us four weeks to complete it. David, one of their consultants, helped me. Despite his personal commitments, he was on top of his things. He walked me through the entire process and I trusted him with everything. He asked me about some personal documents and some creditors we could recheck. After that, the 30-year loan program was approved and they have enabled online payments. My experience with them has been very effective. They have a very knowledgeable and simple process. The market was doing really well, so I figured I'd take advantage of equity in the house. I refinanced for the 100% value with the VA loan. The loan process with HomeDirect was very easy. I worked with Brian and there were no problems at all. The experience was pretty smooth. I had to provide the paystubs for myself and my wife, W-2's, and the Verification of Employment forms. As far as the forms went, there was a few VA things that they required wet signatures on. I had to sign here, stand back in, and send back to them. It wasn't very long though. Probably the most lengthy part for me was just printing out papers that I had to send to them. Overall, the time spent on my time digging that up, sending it to them, and being done with it was no more than an hour.
The final approval probably would have been sooner had I not been tied up in a bunch of other stuff. There were also days in between me answering emails to Brian. He was ready to do the next step pretty quickly. He was very knowledgeable and was right on top of it. He knew what he was doing. Working with HomeDirect has been very good. I'm waiting on the appraisal and if it comes back good, it will link back with them much more. I tell my friends and people that I work with about HomeDirect if they start talking about looking into stuff. The only thing I had a question about in the very beginning was when HomeDirect called me, and I had a Bank of Oklahoma loan. I had to call Bank of Oklahoma and make sure that Brian and HomeDirect were somebody they were working with. It would be great if there's a way to make that more known.

Thirty-five people were calling me and HomeDirect Mortgage was one of the first people who called. A month later, it was a terrible deal such that people were still calling and wanting me to take a loan with them. But I'm so happy that I went with HomeDirect because I wanted a company to stay in the area and they’re both in Tulsa and Kansas. Also, the people I worked with were very nice and fantastic. We had a PMI and the people that did that loan with us told me to pay down a little bit and then check in a couple of years and see if we could get that PMI lowered. I was doing that and I was curious if I was going to be able to get that PMI lowered so I went to LendingTree.com, plugged in information and I heard back from HomeDirect immediately. I heard back from two other banks but they were a little slower.
I inquired about a VA loan because we qualify for that. When the rep presented me the terms, she gave me all the VA loan information then she gave me all the FHA information. We had the appraisal done and because the appraisal came back higher, we were able to eliminate the PMI all together and lower our interest rate. I ended up going with a 30-year conventional program with HomeDirect Mortgage. I did most of my stuff online. The rep asked me what was the best form of communication for me and I said the email because of my schedule and personal life. It’s easier for me to be able to sit down when I got some quiet time and the computer. She responded immediately to anything I sent for questions or information through email. She was excellent. I told her what I was trying to do. She wanted to know if I wanted to cash out and I said no and that I just want to try to get rid of the PMI so she gave me all the different scenarios.
I hate refinancing and I never want to have to buy a home again. The whole process is so stressful, however it was almost one of those deals where it was going so smoothly. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and it never did. I was waiting for bad news with every email I got from their rep but our credit score and appraisal came back good. Everything kept coming back good. We’ were trying to decide if we'll keep the house or move to an apartment but when she came back with the new mortgage, I said to my husband, "We can stay here and pay less than what the apartments that we were looking at cost." It was a really great experience.

We were purchasing a new home and HomeDirect Mortgage had good rates at that time. Their quoted rate was the main reason that we got a mortgage from them. The application process started in April and ended in June. During the loan process, we worked well with HomeDirect. The rep kept us informed of everything that we needed to do and where we were along the way. I’m a person that wants a lot of information sometimes, so there were a few times that I could have added some more information. We were self-employed and there were things that seemed redundant and were a little frustrating, but I understood that these were things that the underwriters wanted and I was able to give them everything that they wanted.
Overall, our experience with HomeDirect was very positive, including my communications with the rep, Andrew, and his assistant. Two years ago, I believe HomeDirect donated $5,000 for the military family for Christmas through my wife’s business, the Armed Services YMCA. That swayed us to lean towards their bank a little more than the other ones because I'm a retired military as well. We did the refinance with cash-out and although it took Dirk a day or so to answer my questions a couple of times, I understood I'm not the only person he was dealing with. Plus, if I had any questions that I needed answered, he was there. He walked me through the process and took care of me pretty good.
HomeDirect gave me a lower interest rate for our refinance that it didn’t change much from what I had. The value of my house went up because I've done a lot of upgrades, but we paid off all of my debt except for my cars and my house payment. Then I put money in my savings account to do some more. So, they did everything that I wanted to do plus a little extra. There was also no underhandedness like I've dealt with in the past. They were straightforward with me and I liked that for a change. I researched online to find out what mortgage company had the best rate and best reviews and HomeDirect was at the top so I chose them for my mortgage application for a new home purchase. I was awfully concerned at the beginning because what my reps did was they over-projected everything. So, it was looking like I was going to have to come to the closing table with a lot more money which has given me a lot of concerns. But in the end, I ended up getting money back which was a positive thing but it gave me a lot of heartburn in the process. The main issue I ran into was that I was in transition from active duty military to retirement and they put me in a bind at one point because when I moved across the country, from California to Tennessee, I was under the impression that what I had was good enough to secure the loan.
And they put me in a situation saying, “Well, if you don’t have another job, we're not going to end up closing this loan. You're not going to get the house.” So, that was a bit hairy, but thankfully, it worked out and I was able to secure a position, but not without jumping through hoops. We talked about everything and their reps worked with me really well. Those guys all did a fantastic job all the way around and I'm happy. Furthermore, I had something reapproved before I even went looking. That part was perfect because I was able to do that and have that letter in hand when I went searching. And that was probably the critical piece in getting the offer accepted upfront. I wanted to have a letter in hand before I started looking, I got the letter on the 1st of May and then we found a house on the 15th of May and had an offer secured with the seller by the 18th. So, by having that letter upfront from the guys, that helped out a ton. Overall, it was a 60-day process.
