    I was on a variable rate on my loan and I wanted to get a better rate, so I applied for a refinance with HomeDirect Mortgage. My sister had started to work with their customer service rep, Erica, and she referred me to Erica. Erica was awesome and really good. I was impressed with her understanding the business and what I was looking for to do, as well as her patience with me. She did a great job and I would do business with her again for sure. There was a lot of information that needed to be provided and I have never dealt with so much documentation with any of my refinances as I did with this one. But, overall, the end result was what I was looking for and it happened. The whole process from the application to the closing took a month.

    So far, my experience with HomeDirect has been good. The length of the loan that I got is good and the terms are good too. Although the rates are not the best and I would have preferred to get a better rate, I’m satisfied with what I got. Working with HomeDirect has created the most saving for me. Definitely, the saving is better than it was before and I appreciate that. I’m glad that the loan has gone through, even if I wasn't expecting it to. the saving that I’m gonna be making is gonna make things a lot easier for me.

    I was recommended to HomeDirect and their application process was easy and fast. Everything was great and I’m stoked about the whole process. But it was weird that I had to detail the three years of my tax payments and give them my employment verification for the last three years. I had to do both but I figured they’d see that in my taxes. But it wasn’t difficult and it only took me 20 minutes to get them all. I was also impressed with their staff's timing and the fact that if I sent an email, they’d get back to me immediately. I was 100% comfortable working with them and I'm all right with the rate and terms of the mortgage that they gave me. I’m in my house now, so I can thank them for helping.     We were coming back to the United States and purchasing a house. HomeDirect was able to give me one of the best rates and was very helpful. They were also servicing their own mortgage and their reps were professional and knew their things. I started the process in late September and we were able to close on time on November 1st. It was unconventional for us as we were in Germany when it was happening. Everything was done via email or late at night. But the rep who was helping us made it easy and it went very smoothly. He would update us all the time and answer all our questions. When he did my pre-quote on everything with the closing cost, it was only off by 30 dollars when we went to closing.

    The HomeDirect website is supposed to show updates on the process of the mortgage and upload documents. But the system isn’t very useful because you can’t really do anything except to view what has already been done. You can’t ask questions or flag anything. You just get a snapshot instead of any interaction with what’s going on. Other than that, HomeDirect was able to help us out with everything that we needed to do and we’d tell our friends to give them a shot.

    The experience that I had with HomeDirect was good and I would definitely recommend based on that. Everything was fine with the process because it was all online. The website was good and it went well. There was just one hiccup with my employer verification. On the last day of the loan closing, I had to run around to get a written confirmation about the employment. Hopefully, that could have been done earlier in the process. But the representatives at HomeDirect were good. They were proactive and they kept me up to date on how it was going.

    I was purchasing a new home and I put in my info on a site that multicasts for soliciting VA loan information. I then got a phone call from a HomeDirect Mortgage loan officer. I was offered the lowest interest rate and they were professional, so I decided that I'd go with them. The enrollment process was mostly done online. I had gone through an online process with Quicken before as well and theirs was easier, but HomeDirect was not difficult. The whole thing took us a few weeks to complete but that was because my wife's credit was frozen. Our rep was available and he was able to answer any question that I had. I'd recommend HomeDirect Mortgage, but I'd also recommend that you shop around.

    We were doing a refi on the house because we wanted to do some improvements, and going into a mortgage seemed the best way to do it. The moment I went online, I had a lot of people contacting me. I have been in the real estate profession for 30 years, so I am hard to please and a little bit over-critical. I also put a lot of emphasis on how people treat me.     I found HomeDirect by chance on looking up zeo.com and at the time, I contacted three companies. But I decided to go with HomeDirect because of the specific officer that I spoke with, Jesse, who was very clear to explaining all the different steps. This was a first time for me purchasing a home, so I had a lot of questions that were not answered properly by the other company that I contacted. And Jessie was very calm, very through, and immediately looked at numbers. He was always available, too. The minute that I made an offer, he was working and communicating with the realtor constantly, including me in the conversation. They immediately sent me the list of what they needed and he made everything so easy compared to the horror story that I had read.

    I was very lucky, the way things panned out. The application and lending process took a bit longer than a month to finish because there were repairs that needed to be done on the house that pushed back the closing date, but that was what it was due to. Everything worked out great and the rate and terms of the mortgage were less than what I had expected. I'm pretty sure that the rest of the companies out there have the opposite approach that Jesse had with me.     I looked at rates and HomeDirect was able to give me the best offer. So, I decided to apply for a mortgage with them. The guy that I spoke with, Reed, went about telling me what documents I needed to provide then he did everything for me. He was extremely knowledgeable and he helped me understand the whole process better than most other people were willing to do. He was there to give me the best rate and terms for the mortgage. He gave me multiple options and different rates based on how much I was putting down. So I was given plenty of options that I was able to choose.

    I needed a loan for a new home and I’m a lifetime member of the USA Navy Federal Credit Union. Initially, I was gonna go with them but then I got a hold of HomeDirect Mortgage and they beat the Navy Federal interest rate by a lot. Also, I liked that HomeDirect serviced the entirety of the loan and wouldn’t sell my loan to somebody else. Obtaining the mortgage was pretty easy. Dan, the loan officer, was on top of everything, so I’ve had no big issues. I did the VA loan and I did it for 45 days to allow enough time with my schedule and everything at work.     Bankrate.com listed HomeDirect as the lowest mortgage in the 20-year category at the current time. So, I got a mortgage from them for a new home purchase and ended up with their 20-year fixed loan program. I had an excellent experience with them. Their application process was super smooth and super fast. It was a closed sale, meaning we were purchasing from another family member. David, the loan officer, took my information over the phone and filled in the application. Then he had me verify it and complete everything. I called and talked to him at the end of September then we closed on October 29th. It was for a second home and I got it at 4.5% in the fall, which rate had crept up a little bit. So, it's a very competitive rate and I'm happy with it.

    There were certain things that David couldn’t tell me and I had to go to the appraisal person for that. He'd simply say that he couldn't tell me because it was a firewall between him and that area, but there wasn’t any customer service issues. I was also impressed that he was available 24/7 and he got back to me in less than 24 hours with an answer on any question I had. He was very helpful by email and by phone, by cell or by office phone, depending on what his schedule was. I hope he’s part of their customer success team and in terms of training people coming in because they’ll do very well if they keep up that type of service.

    I felt completely comfortable working with David and he kinda went beyond the call of duty in terms of helping me structure the sale contract. He didn’t do it but he gave me advice about it, so that I could create a gift of equity and reduce the down payment. That allowed me to do some things, like renovations, immediately to the property. Otherwise, I'd end up using up all of my cash on the down payment.

    I was making a new home purchase and I got a 15-year fixed loan from HomeDirect. They had good rates and it looked like it would be easy to go with them.

    Also, I didn’t have a lot of time to review everything at the time and I was happy with the guy that I reached out to. He was very knowledgeable and very professional. We had a couple of phone calls and he was great. However, the underwriters, as always, were nitpicky and wanted deposit slips of very minimal deposits. It was kinda ridiculous that they were asking for miniscule stuff that were irrelevant in the big picture and it was a little pain. It was a lot of busy work that I became frustrated about but that’s the nature of underwriters. The good news was, they asked me for those things three weeks before the closing date.

    Other than that, HomeDirect's application process was easy and it was all done online. The rep I worked with did what he could do and left me to do what I had to do.     I wanted to refinance my house, and I found an agent on Zillow who works for HomeDirect. I was in contact with a couple of other agents, and he was the one that I decided to go with. I work during the weekdays and he works on weekends, so we talk to each other during weekends. He gave me a couple of good options and he was very honest. I was happy that he was telling me what I was getting from them. He was very professional and from the first day, I was very comfortable with him because before he went over everything, he talked about his experience. He asked me questions on what I was looking for instead of giving me options. Based on what I was expecting then, he found deals for me and we went to it. We texted and any time I called him, he would pick up the phone. If I emailed him, he responded within five minutes. That was very impressive because sometimes when I email someone, I wait for days to get a response back.

    The process of application and underwriting took 35 days because my previous mortgage company was very slow to send some paperwork. Other than that, the online application process was great and easy. They gave me a to-do list, so I wasn't lost. If I wanted to do something, I went to their website. And if I uploaded a file, I would know if the file was checked or if it was still in waiting. If I had forgotten about it, I would receive an email reminder saying that a file has not been uploaded. It was good to keep track of what I was uploading and what they were expecting from me.

    I had three different mortgage companies when I first bought the house. I did not have much experience, and one was from Suntrust, the other one was from VHDA, and then the local government. Their interest rates were very high, so it was hard to keep track of them. HomeDirect's rate was a bit higher than what I was expecting. I was expecting that my monthly payment would be a little less, but it was understandable that when I calculated it, it had to be higher. Still, working with HomeDirect made my life a little easier. Now, I have one mortgage company to deal with and the interest rate is lower.

    There were a lot of other companies that wanted to lend money or to refinance the house but I didn’t feel comfortable with them. Since I had my original mortgage with HomeDirect, I went with them. They sent me the paperwork, I filled it up in the computer and I sent it back to them. I spoke with a rep once and she said she didn't get the papers. The whole process took 21 days. However, the rate is 0.25% more than what I wished for since I had great credit. It was 5%, and at the end, went up with more than 5%. I felt uncomfortable about it but other than that, I'm happy and I'd recommend them.

    I'll sell my house in about three or four more years and I wanted to refi and get out of my VA loan because we wanted to use the VA loan for a bigger and better house later down the line. I went online and made some comparisons. I did some research and HomeDirect Mortgage had the most convenient plan. They came up close to the top. My agent was very good and very patient.     I was dealing with her and with an agent at Quicken Loans at the same time, and the guy at Quicken Loans was really persistent. His process was more of a rush, while the agent at HomeDirect was catering to what I wanted. She explained everything. It was better and easier than what the guy at Quicken Loans did. When I told him that I had decided to go with HomeDirect, he kept calling and calling. I've told him the process was over, but he is blasting me emails and stuff.     I checked out HomeDirect when I looked into a mortgage as I was getting transferred at work and had to move. Their rep, Tyson, was very good. Also, the people at HomeDirect were all very nice and helpful. The communication towards the end of the application process was a kicker, though. There was a little miscommunication with the paperwork wherein I emailed some documents to them which came up blank and I didn't realize it. Then, they didn't tell me about it until it was almost too late. But, we got it all figured out and it went right through. After that got taken care of, everything was fine. The loan application and underwriting process took what they say it was gonna take and I liked the rate and terms. I'd tell my friends to check HomeDirect out.

    We looked into a mortgage to buy a new house and we ended up with HomeDirect as they had the lowest rate. The application was extremely easy. We just had to present some simple documentation and the rep, DJ, was very easy and comfortable to work with. He was incredible and it was the best experience I've ever had dealing with a banker. He was very accessible. He gave me his cell phone number, would write me back in the middle of the night when I write a question. Not that I expected it, but I got it, and he helped me through the process very well.

    A friend of mine purchased a home in Colorado and referred me to a broker who works for HomeDirect. I filled out the application on the website for the original application. I was then contacted by a broker named Casey and then we filled out the rest of the paperwork. We applied for the mortgage before we found the home and it took us two months to find a new home to purchase. So we had a pre-approval, but once we got the contract signed on the house, it took two weeks to complete the loan process. It would have been sooner, but the VA inspections took a little bit longer than normal.

    Still, I was very pleased with the lending process. The rep I dealt with was very professional too. He always answered the phone when I called and if I had to leave a message, he called me back within 10-15 minutes.     I needed to refinance interest rates and I have an adjustable mortgage that kept going up. I looked at HomeDirect's closing costs and they had no loan origination fee, and it would be the least in closing cost. Obtaining the mortgage with them was easy. The rate was not the greatest in the world because it is an investment property, but I understood that mortgage properties charge more for an investment property. The application and underwriting process took a little over 30 days. It was done piecemeal. My only put-on was I'm not the typical borrower so it was not a W-2. It was tax returns and rental property income, so it was a little more onerous than most. But they got me to the finish line and that's what counts. I really liked the loan officer, Cathy.     I applied for a VA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage to buy a new home and my online application experience was easy. To get the mortgage, I reached out to the loan officer and the final application was via their online portal. I got approved then found a house, they gave me an offering, and I submitted more appropriate information.

    The whole application and underwriting process took about 45 days. However, I was looking to do a closing of 30 days which was very possible if the loan officer was better organized and knew how to do his job. He was very incompetent and terrible at everything. He would repeatedly ask for the same piece information forgetting that I or my realtor submitted it. He would also email us separately. For instance, if I submitted it, then he would email my realtor a week later asking for the same piece of information. He realized that he already had it and he just pushed the process back.

    I had to pay about $1,000 in penalties because the loan officer, for the third time, asked for redundant paperwork that we already submitted and pushed back my closing date. And because I had to extend my rate, I had to pay a .025% interest rate on that which was $550. I also had to pay a $200 additional fee to the builder because I pushed back my closing date for two days. I’m in a battle to get the $750 refunded based off the loan officer's incompetence.

    I’m trying to report to the loan officer's superiors, but he has not provided me with his boss’s number. I’m at the point where I’m gonna give him one more chance to give me his boss’s number and if not, I'd have to go through the Better Business Bureau or whoever oversees mortgage process in the federal government because what HomeDirect did was just ridiculous and, especially to a veteran, appalling. Additionally, the inspector that they used to inspect my house fails and I have issues with the house itself structurally, so I have to go back to the inspector, demand my money back, and figure out if the builder is gonna fix what’s wrong or if I’m gonna have to take them to court.

    HomeDirect failed me everywhere in every possible aspect one can think of and I was not happy. I would tell my family and friends to stay as far away as they can from them, no matter what. HomeDirect offers some great incentives, but the reason they offer incentives is they lack in customer service, professionalism, and everything else.

    HomeDirect had a better APR, so I went with them and got a VA loan for a new home purchase. Their online application process was straightforward but the application and underwriting process took longer than anticipated. From their end, getting the appraisal done took over a month and because of that, we had to pay over $1,000 as penalty for extending our rate. That was what my wife didn’t like about being a customer of HomeDirect. They said that the delay was not their fault because the title was not done. But we had rate extension two times and the title was done before that. We were just waiting for the bank to finish that part.

    There was already so much frustration going on as we were moving out of our house, so we asked HomeDirect for assistance but they didn’t do much. The underwriting was also somewhat slow because HomeDirect was reluctant to take the appraiser’s report up front. In the end, HomeDirect approved the same thing. Surely, the communication between the underwriter and the client and also the appraiser could be improved because this creates a lot of delays and late charges.

    Neverthelss, our agent, Mark, was really nice and I was very comfortable working with him. He was good at communicating and presenting the details. There were certain things that he might not have known at 100% certainty, but that goes for any agent out there.

    I got HomeDirect for a new home purchase and thus far I've had a good experience with them. I like the customer service and the rate I was able to get for my VA loan. I provided my financial information as well as information on my retirement and my disability. I also had my last bank statement for showing that I gave the earnest money to the builder. Their reps gave me emails saying what they needed and there was also the website which had the list of things that I needed to accomplish or stuff that I owed them. HomeDirect’s online application process was good and it made the application easy. I was able to scan stuff in and send it.

    The lending process was also good. I gave myself plenty of time, so I was not in a rush to get stuff done. My situation was kinda different in the sense that if there was some type of hiccup with the process and I needed to wait longer, I could afford to do that. Still, there was nothing in the process that slowed things down. The representatives were very professional. Any information that needed to get passed or that they needed, they were on it and it was a great experience.

    My friend had chosen HomeDirect Mortgage and got me to do a refi too. I called my friend at HomeDirect and they had me fill out an application online. The application process was great, although the rep, Kent, and I had a rocky start because it felt "sale-y". However, things were probably due to a lack of knowledge on my part. Kent and I were proceeding, but I had to pause and get somebody else's offer because I didn't have anything to compare HomeDirect to. So, I went to another lender to see what they were saying.

    Kent wanted me to go with him and the other guy also wanted me to go with him, so it was going back and forth, and that part of the timeline was a little awkward for me. But once I was comfortable, I told Kent that I was going with him, and everything was smooth. Kent was a nice guy and very knowledgeable. He communicated with me and we got the job done.     I was living in a condo and I wanted to get a house. I got a recommendation from my realtor, then I checked with Tim from HomeDirect. I was budgeting for higher interest, but their rates were good. When I called some companies that were directly in the Phoenix area, I was getting 4.875%. Tim gave me the option of 4.625% and I had gotten a credit from him and I moved into 4.5%, which was way better.

    The application process was simple. Every now and then, when I had gotten some things that I needed to fill out, I had to get online to do it. Originally the process would have taken 45 days, but the seller asked to move it up. We were under contract for a different house before and I walked out after the inspection. The process was halfway done with all the forms needed for this one and they were able to get the whole process done in 21 days.

    HomeDirect's communication was great. On average, they get back to me in no more than a day. One time, before I even asked the question, Tim said he may be on a holiday.     HomeDirect has a competitive rate and the customer service with the loan officer was a lot better than some of the other banks. I got quick responses and they were able to help out with a lot of complications of offers in the VA mortgage process. There was some additional paperwork as well as coordinating a separate appraisal from the VA.

    The website was easy to use and the process took six weeks. The timeline on the HomeDirect end was really good. Most officers were very good as well about keeping in touch and working directly with my realtor when necessary and so it made it a lot easier. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.     We wanted to move a child into a different school district and found a for sale by owner. We went with HomeDirect for an FHA as there's not a whole lot of lenders out there that'll do mobile home loans. I had a bit of difficulty because I had to learn from scratch and HomeDirect didn't seem to be too with it either on what needed to be done for mobile home loans. They acted like it was their first one and the process took about two months. They need to be more up to speed on the mobile home loan. If they're going to advertise they do mobile home loans, they need to know how to do them.

    The rep, Tyson, was always on top of things trying to help me and making suggestions on what to do and who to get the insurance from, so he was very helpful, but I think he was overworked. Also, every time there was some issue, it was because of somebody else who didn't do something.     When I was buying a new house, I pre-qualified for three different banks but I chose HomeDirect considering the reviews. The process from start to finish was good. But the online update prompt thing didn’t seem beneficial at all. I didn’t really use that system. 99.9% of what happened were one-on-one interactions, like speaking on the phone or sending text messages and emails. My wife and I did the paperwork online which Eric then took. He went from there and did a great job.

    The only problem was that in the middle of the process, HomeDirect had to hit my credit again because the name’s spelling was incorrect. That really aggravated us. The information has to be spelled correctly when they file a process and when we put our Social Security number and the spelling of our names online, we did it correctly. The other thing was that when my wife put in how much money we were making, she put in what I was gonna be making in Florida, which is where I was moving to, instead of what I was making in San Diego. Then when we went to get the final approval for the loan amount, it had to come back even though we were approved for the amount. But other than the cross-talk between the system of the online application and the actual hands-on with the person, the experience was great. They definitely busted their tails to get the loan in and make it happen. We will definitely be using HomeDirect Mortgage again.

    We needed to refinance and there were many lenders that we talked to, and I really liked Josh, the man from Home Direct that we worked with, when I talked to him on the phone. He was very open, helpful and generous with information and not badgering or bullying. He sent us multiple documents that we needed to fill out as well as to acquire to send to them, and we did it all online, scanning the documents up. He was very organized. He had an assistant that would follow-up occasionally with details, but he was always available if we needed him. Then as the loan progressed, he explained to us where it was, who was going to inspect the house and give it an appraisal and when the notary public would be coming. He estimated when the loan would be finished if we were able to complete all the steps, and he was one day short. It was fabulous. He could not have been more professional.

    I was looking on Zillow and it asked, "Are you a veteran?" I clicked "Yes" and Mark from HomeDirect reached out to me based on that inquiry. Mark was very open, he answered a lot of my questions and he seemed very knowledgeable. Being that I am a first-time homeowner, he was very patient. I stuck with him because I felt comfortable.

    I initially spoke with Mark about what I was looking for and he asked me a couple of preliminary questions about income. When I was settled on what kind of home I was looking for and that I knew I was ready to start the process, he sent me the application through email and everything came back pretty quickly. Anything that he needed after that, he requested and we worked very well in getting him additional information.

    HomeDirect was very easy to work with in the sense of my income because all I really had was my disability benefit. But they never made it seem like I didn't make enough. I worked on my credit score a little bit before I went through with the loan. I waited about a month or two from the initial contact with Mark. He continued to keep in touch with me, he knew my plans, and he offered to give me tips on things that I could do to increase my credit before I filed the initial application.

    From there, I followed their lead on extra paperwork. My broker said they were gonna need a bunch of paperwork so when I told Mark that I wanted to be proactive and asked him to give me a list of everything I needed to compile to make sure he had everything, he gave me that list ahead of time. He was able to answer future questions that we had to understand. He said, "It's not set in stone, but this is what will determine your interest rate. This is the type of plans we have. This is what you could be looking, I'm putting down."

    When we had one deal fall through, it was really great that Mark was really encouraging during that time. He told me that these things happen and not to worry about it. I told Mark that I needed some time because I was really discouraged and he told me to take my time and to get myself together. They'd be ready when I'd be ready to get back on the ball. And they absolutely were. When I had questions about how the interest rate worked, Mark he told me that from day to day, it could fluctuate. They could lock it in for this amount of time and there was an extra fee to lock it in for extra days. He explained that to me. All in all, it worked fine.

    Once it started getting closer to the closing and the underwriting part of it, Tony came in. He asked more questions and he helped me take care of that part. He was Mark's assistant and he dealt specifically with the underwriting portion. From beginning to end, when I initially started looking without having the application process, it only took me six months all in all. From what I heard in some horror stories, it was pretty doggone good.

    The only thing that was offputting was when I began to sign papers, it was with Bank of Oklahoma. I was a little bit thrown off by that. If you take the time to read the paperwork, that's just the bank who finances HomeDirect. Sometimes, you have one company dealing with you and then they sell your businesses to another company and you don't know that.

    Soon after closing, someone from the Finance Department reached out through email, gave me an online account number and walked me through that. It was upfront, mentioned about the monthly payment, and how much interest was gonna be added with the penalties. I really love that there was no penalty to pay it off early. When I purchased my car, I was not even aware that I could get penalized for paying it off early. With HomeDirect, I found out that there was no such penalty. They gave me an amortization table so I knew exactly how my payments would break down for the next 30 years. They were very efficient. I was just able to e-sign things. With the whole system that they had, I got an alert when each step was completed.

    We needed a house and a mortgage. We compared APRs and found that HomeDirect did best, so we went with them. We worked with Steven and his associate in obtaining the mortgage and our experience was good. They were very straightforward and they told us exactly what we needed, when we needed it, as far as paperwork was concerned. They made it very easy and it took a little over a month to complete the whole process. But it was frustrating that the numbers changed toward at the end, which I knew they couldn't anticipate, but it was something that we didn't anticipate either.

    At the beginning, when we were trying to compare different mortgage rates, I felt like it would've been nice to have an easy APR. Whenever I was trying to get the APR numbers, they were giving me the basic interest rate. But when I asked for APR, after all the different fees and everything for closing, I was getting multiple different answers and I never got a straight one. So it would have been nice if all those ending numbers and figures could've been taken into account a little better.

    Other than that, the loan officer we had with was very quick to respond. I have an odd work schedule, so I was replying at odd hours, weekends, and evenings, and he was always very polite. Their rate and terms were perfect, and they were the ones who came back with the fastest response in regards to the questions that I had and information that I needed.     We had some equity in our home and we had some home project that we needed to get done that we needed the equity to be able to afford to do it. We refinanced with our bank and they use HomeDirect. The process of obtaining the mortgage was simple. We had a lot of communication via email instead of having to do phone calls and having to go in person. We were also able to do everything electronically. It was a little difficult at times because we had filed a bankruptcy, so there were some issues getting the documentation and everything that was needed, but everybody worked quickly on their end and the bank tried to be able to get everything they needed.

    The application and underwriting process took four weeks, but it was not a long process at all as we had our money on week five. The only issue we had was that we sent in the information a couple of times and they would still ask for it. It was sometimes a little difficult to understand exactly what was needed. We had to submit a further documentation a couple of times but it was to be expected with anything so it was no big deal.

    At the time we were scheduled for our signing, I was in the hospital. The person was so accommodating and she came to the room up at the hospital. She also had to come back later when I didn’t have my I.D. because I had sent everything home. The signing went smoothly and we got everything done. The rates and terms we were given were fair based on our situation having had a bankruptcy not too long ago. The interest rate didn’t increase very much either based on what I initially thought we were gonna be looking at from our situation.

    Working with HomeDirect has made my life a lot easier. We got communication from a third party that works a lot with the Bank of Oklahoma loan in which we were able to set up for a bi-weekly automatic draft from our account, which is what we had been used to with our very first mortgage on our other home, and that makes our life so much easier. Instead of having to do one lump sum every month, we're able to draft a little bit every two weeks and know that it's getting taken care of and we don’t have to worry about it. It took a big burden off of our shoulders and we don’t have to worry about. Although their process was a little confusing at first because it was a very different process than I've ever used for a mortgage, it was great. Their communication was very quick and they respond when I have questions. Overall, my experience with HomeDirect was really satisfactory and I would definitely recommend using them.

I wasn’t happy with the final terms. I was led to believe that we would be able to get a regular loan, and as we got into the process, it was not possible. We had to go with FHA and pay some points on it. Paying two points for the loan was unexpected, and that was an additional $2,000 that I wasn’t expecting. I wasn’t pleased with that. The process of obtaining my mortgage couldn’t be easier. We've done other mortgages and we knew what was expected of us, but John did an amazing job of giving a heads up what might be coming our way.     I've only been dealing with HomeDirect for a few months now and I'm already sour on it. I got insurance from Farmers and then a month later, I got a cancellation notice. I didn't cancel it. I never doubted there was some mistake in the home office at Farmers that cancelled my insurance. They said they got it fixed. I got a notice from HomeDirect saying my house wasn't insured and they're gonna get insurance for me if I don't get insurance. I said I've already got an insurance and there was a mistake and I got to get it corrected. So either HomeDirect is not communicating with my insurance agent or vice versa.

    I called my insurance agent and she called and straightened it up. But when I called HomeDirect, I got somebody that felt like he had been on the job for two days. He put me on hold before he even knew what I was trying to do. I guess he was trying to find my account but five minutes later I finally got tired and hung up. The Farmers agent can deal with them.

    I'm not thrilled with HomeDirect. What they do is typical, modern way of doing business. Nobody wants to give any customer service. They all just wanna take your money and don't do anything for you. I'm 65 years old and I'm not used to this. They don't wanna give good service and hire good people. They have good rates and I have a professional, service-oriented home loan broker from Kansas. But I always wish HomeDirect wasn't in the process. I'd rather be dealing with my mortgage company. They're just an added hassle and I know why the banks are doing it - because it's cheaper.

    HomeDirect was the first people that came up in our list and had the best rating out of all the people we had. My wife and I have good credits and I got prequalified. I applied for the FHA mortgage and it was actually in my price range. The rate I received was excellent and better than what I would have gotten had I qualified for a VA home loan. The only thing is that you need to have someone looking at the paperwork with you as it can be really confusing. It has two prices next to each other and it doesn't tell definitively which one is yours and which one is the seller's price. Other than that, everything is fine. Then six months later, as I was restarting the process, he happened to send me an email, which was, “Hey, how are things doing? It's all highway robbery but I'm sure most consider it that way. Their process was very simple. It took a couple of hours to do all the paperwork and I closed on time based on the schedule that I set myself. However, they weren't able to get rid of all of the fees and underwriting fees so there were some costs associated with the loan, and that's the only complaint I had. Nonetheless, their reps were fine. I was impressed with their responsiveness. They get back to me immediately if I have questions.

    I was trying to refinance and I ended up going through my current lender. PrimeLending was the holder of my mortgage and when I refinanced, they were re-branded as HomeDirect Mortgage. I gave a call to the number that was listed on my account's page and I was hooked up with a rep, KC. We looked at the rates and, after that, we started getting the appraisal and setting everything up. However, we had a tough time getting an appraiser for the property because it had a barndominium on it, so there were a lot of delays. The application and underwriting process started in June and we finally got somebody to file an appraisal around September 20th. After that, it was quick and it took about two weeks to get The Appointment Firm person sign.

    A lot of the problems was just getting an appraiser that would appraise the property, but the lending process was very smooth. KC was very open and he communicated with me frequently. If I had questions, he answered them. He also let me know what was happening as far as things that I wasn't necessarily able to see. He was very good. I also feel good about the rate and terms of the refinance, although if it was lower, it would have been nicer. I've got what I expected out of working with HomeDirect. There has been a positive impact and it was the reason I underwent through refinancing. If I were to do this again, I would definitely go with HomeDirect again.

    We were looking for the top-rated mortgage companies and I went to Better Business Bureau and found HomeDirect Mortgage. So, I thought I’d give them a try for a home purchase and we ended up getting a conventional loan from them. The process of obtaining the mortgage was standard, straightforward and simple. I had to provide all of the information, such as pay stubs and W-2. Everything was done through an online portal and I could e-sign everything that I needed to sign. The online application process was easy. We had already purchased a home before, so this was our second time buying a house. It was easier doing all of it online, rather than having to sign every single document in person, so I liked that aspect.

    Communication was great and seamless overall. Ronald, the rep that I worked with, was great with communication. I spoke with him and he was great and very helpful in explaining the process well and keeping me in the loop as things progressed and got changed. He was good too about giving me updates through phone calls or email.

    But we had some delays because of various things that pushed everything back, like our living in North Carolina when the hurricane came through. We also had one hiccup, but it was with the appraiser that the lender had picked out, but as far as with the lender themselves, everything was easy and they were great to work with. I liked the rate and the terms of the mortgage that I received. They gave me a good interest rate that locked me in, so even when the rates went up they kept the same rate.     I needed to buy another home. HomeDirect was cheaper as far as the interest rate and fees so I picked the one that I was in. Their application process was easy and very nice. The whole sending of forms back and forth electronically, with the email from the adviser, is very easy to follow. I got recommended to HomeDirect by a consumer, Jonathan, and he was spot on about their rep Steve. He was phenomenal. He saved me some money and he made it a great deal on my part.

    Steve was willing to work through text messaging and phone calls, and he checked up on me. He was very, very responsive. Every time I have a question, he'd answer me in less than a day, usually within an hour. He was very upfront too, no fancy lingo. We went through the products together and he explained stuff. He also was willing to compete. and the two other companies couldn't keep up. I would have dumped HomeDirect in about 2.3 nanoseconds if I got a better deal but Steve did his stuff and earn the business.

    From a consumer's perspective, it's hard to read all the estimates. In today's world, it's such a capital market where, as a consumer, we're looking at each of those line items and comparing from lender to lender and using those numbers to generate or ask for things like cellar confessions or a closing cost. So, the easier to read those documents, the better. It wasn't too bad but on the last step of the process when I closed, there were some differences in the numbers. They all added up and Steve worked on my behalf. He was able to apply some of the surplus closing cost, cellar confessions on my behalf. Overall, I had a great experience with HomeDirect. I would highly recommend HomeDirect to anybody.

    It was a great experience with HomeDirect Mortgage. I did an online request for multiple lenders to contact me with their rates. HomeDirect was the first one to call me back. I talked to Connor, a rep there. He gave me all the information I needed and he didn’t pressure me. I had actually chosen someone else that has a slightly better rate and he said that he didn’t feel like that company would be able to finish process in the timeline.     I was moving to something bigger so I got a VA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage. The rep, John, was very knowledgeable on the program and was easy to work with. I didn't feel like I was in the shadows at all when it came to my deal. When I needed help, he was there. When I called, he picked up. If he didn't, he called me right back. He was on top of his game and helped me out with my home. He made the process very smooth and comfortable for me. I gave my information, did my application and in a matter of days, I had everything necessary for them to finalize my profile and close within 30 days once everything was set.

    However, the home buying experience should be improved because there are so many departments that you have to work with in order to buy a house. There's the Appraisal District and if it's a VA, they have to go through a VA Appraiser. If everybody worked together and had a better schedule, I'm sure you would be able to close a whole lot quicker and get new houses done.     I had Mark as my main contact through the process. I got an email from him initially and when I talked with him, he seemed straightforward and he was like somebody I wanted to deal with. When I started the process, I had to pull my credit report and there were questions that I had to answer from one of the report. I was VA funded so I had to get my VA documentation. I lost my DD 214 and was having a heck of a time getting a copy of it. Mark told us what we needed to do and who to contact. I called the people he recommended, and we got the whole thing handled in less than six hours. I had my DD 214 in three days.

    We picked HomeDirect for their rate and the amount of money at closing when we were buying our primary residence. A year and a half ago, it would have been the historic lowest rate possible so I wasn't happy that it took us that long to find a house and we ended up with 1.25% point higher. But other than that, their rate was still lower than any of the other banks.

    The process was stressful at the beginning. I'm a part-time reservist in the Marine Corps, and for whatever reason, the underwriter said it doesn't count. But the rep fought for me on that one and was able to get that secondary job to count. He was personable, he stood out among all the others and he is by far the best communicator I've ever dealt with in the process. We were able to contact him through text message, email or phone so that made it really nice. He also gave us a timeline and brackets to deal with. All the other guys before wouldn't respond to text message and they were very pushy and very frustrated when we didn't get them the documents within an hour.

    I've steered my sister and several friends over to HomeDirect as a result of my dealings with the rep. But one thing that we did before with other lenders is we had a secure transmission portal for all of our bank statements and stuff with the Social Security numbers. With HomeDirect, I was sending all of these stuff via an open source email for speed and I would prefer to do it more securely. But we got the home of our dreams so it worked out pretty well.

    We were moving to a new location and we were referred to HomeDirect. We ended up going with their VA jumbo loan program as they have better rates over other mortgage company. Their application process was quite long and took 45 days. There were some sit and wait time in between. We filled out the application online, got in touch with one of the loan officers that we knew through a family friend and made the application online. Although we were guided the whole way, there were quite a few email communications back and forth. They were requesting also a lot of documentation then filed it for closing piece of it. There were multiple people that are communicating back and forth between me and to me directly. There could be an improvement on ensuring that all parties are in all of the communication, so there's no duplicate questioning.

    When I interacted with their reps, it was mainly through phone conversations, texts, and emails, and everything was very polite. The person that we spoke with was very genuine and easy to talk to. The most impressive part about working with them was the honesty involved. They did not try to beat around the bush or get me into a deal that I wasn't comfortable with. The average response time for them to get back to me was within an hour of the same day. But most often, it would take 10-15 minutes. If it was an off day or a Sunday, I hear back usually the next day. In terms of the rate and terms of the mortgage, they were fairly competitive. We shopped this mortgage with four lenders and it's by far the most competitive by almost half a percentage point, so we're in the right spot. All in all, we're pleased with everything including how the closing went and the whole process.

    We were expanding our family and needed a mortgage. We did a Google search, got HomeDirect, made contact with them, and stayed with it. Everything in their process was simple. We got a pre-approval letter and then we shopped for a house for a while, found a couple, and they fell through. Finally, we ended up making a deal on our own. The mortgage process for our VA loan was streamlined and simple, except that my fiancée ended up giving me a gift. The amount of receipts, bank copies, and gift letters that she had to give me was ridiculous. We have a joint account and she transferred money from her account into our joint account. I still have to constantly jump through hoops to verify how the money got there. It complicated the process.     When the representative for the Realtor supported the financial arrangement that had been proposed, I was under the impression that we were not locked into the rate because nobody ever told me about a lock-in on the rate. I let it drift to the last couple of weeks. So within a week, we decided that we were gonna switch because I talked to the financial guy and he said, "No, there's nothing else I can do." At that point, we were threatened that we were in breach of contract and that we could be sued.

    There were all kinds of sabers being rattled at us, but for us, it was a matter of principle. In my opinion, we're being ripped off and steered toward a financial arrangement that was definitely not to our benefit. We reached out to a number of other financial institutions and it was unanimous, absolutely nobody agreed with the situation that we were in. They thought it was appalling that we would end up in that sort of a trap at the end, and being threatened. Interestingly enough, that came from our real estate agent who's representing us.

    HomeDirect was the one that saved our butts. I'm a vet and when I talked to their reps, they said, "You need to do a VA loan. You'd be foolish not to do a VA loan." I said, "They never said anything about that." The Realtor just literally blew it off and said, "No, it's not a good deal." We do know that the Realtor don't get as much money when you do a VA loan. VA is a little bit more pro-consumers and they're friendlier toward the veterans.

When we went to Kent at HomeDirect, he had the right questions, he explained exactly what he wanted without any confusion about what he needed and if I had any questions or concerns, he would help me through it.     When we sold our house in Florida, we live in our RV in the summer. And so, we were doing e-signing all the way across the country. We would be e-signing on our computer's documents, getting the documents copied, sent and downloaded from the internet, and then printed, copied and sent. Even though a lot of people our age are afraid of computers, this is the age we're in and it worked beautifully right up to the end although there were a couple of situations where the software was incompatible and we had to use a different method to get our result. We did it all electronically and it was wonderful.

    The rate and terms were very good. The rate that we were being forced into was almost 5.2% and the average at that time was 4.6%, nationwide. It was between 4.4%-4.6% here in Vegas, so that was very competitive. We could have gotten a 4.125%, but because we got assistance with our closing from the VA at 4.25%, we got 4.25%. Right now in this market, you'd be very happy with a 4.25%. Overall, I had a very good experience working with HomeDirect Mortgage and I would recommend them to anybody.

    We were buying a house and it was HomeDirect's rates that showed online that was the most appealing. I used the pre-qualification thing on Zillow and then they immediately called me. I pretty much expected that as soon as I put in my phone number and clicked, “Submit,” that someone would call me and that was exactly what happened but the lending process could have gone a little faster. I talked to the loan officer, Chad, upfront and told them we’re on a very short timeline and that we wanted to close early. It seemed like that was possible once things got underway but it was something that was out of their control. It was the okay of the appraiser and everything was sorted.

    Chad usually got back to me within 24 hours. During the initial process, his knowledge on the information that was required and everything that has to be filed very quickly, was something we needed and he was knowledgeable. Our realtor wanted us to work with someone in town that she recommended, but once I kinda started working with Chad, I was very comfortable with the process.     I went on LendingTree and when I put some information up, the HomeDirect Mortgage in Kansas City came up. They had a good rate so we selected them and we went with a VA and a refinance. The process of obtaining the refinance wasn’t an easy one and it turned out to be very long. Then we had a 30-year VA loan and this was a first time to use my VA. We got the forms sent to us online and that was a new experience for us. It took us a little longer than normal to get those forms back, but we did and it seemed like a lot of things really got delayed.

    From the VA standpoint, they were very slow getting an appraiser out here. My wife works part-time and when the appraiser came, we couldn’t accommodate her for a few days. The appraiser came from Whitsett which is at least an hour from our home. We live in a community where real estate is very hot right now and she appraised it for $20,000 less than what the tax bill was because she didn't know the area. We rode around and looked at the homes she compared to ours. We have a ranch that was 2,300 to 2,500 square feet and one of her appraisals was a two-story on the other side of town. The appraisal was ridiculous. But we will try and use that to get our taxes lowered because there is a $20,000 difference between what we had in from the county and what she appraised it at.

    The VA also couldn’t get my Social Security number straight and I had to make a copy of that and it slowed down the process. I was able to get a lower interest fee from the VA because I never used it and I told that to their banker. The problem was when the VA came back and said that I used it back in 1977, which was untrue. The representative at the bank never contacted me and just plugged it right in. Then, my interest rate soared and went over $3,500 more. When I saw that, I asked them what was wrong with it and the rep said that the VA told him that I used it. I told him that it was not true. He then asked me to better contact the VA, which I did.

    The VA said that I was right and gave me a long story about how back when I was in the service, several members of the armed forces in different branches had the same number. My service number was the same as others and it was another person that used that VA. VA took care of that, notified the bank and I got the certificate. The VA had their issues too, but it would have been nice if the bank had notified me on that. Communication is important in this process and we could have shortened that up by a great deal.

    Then I used my own attorney here in town and he took care of the title insurance and the closing. I gave the bank his information and they said they’d be in touch with him and keep him informed. I gave them the email address, too, so I thought everything was moving along. But after two weeks, I called their banker to ask what was going on and he said to me that they sent my attorney an email but they haven't got any information from him. I called my attorney and he said that he never got any communication from the bank so I called the bank back and it turned out that he had the wrong email address and had a mistake in sending it.

    So the process was delayed for another two weeks and because of those delays, I had a lock fee on it and it was over $3,000. The bank said that they would pay some of it, but they wanted us to pay some. We ended up paying $700 because of lateness and because the lock fee went beyond the date which was not good. At the end, the numbers didn’t look right and it turned out that when the VA realized that I could use the lower interest rate because I hadn’t used the loan, they had lowered that interest. The bank gave me no credit for the lower rates and was charging me the same thing. It was a fiasco and it dragged on for two months. We were exhausted by the time it ended, but we got everything straightened out.

    The guy we dealt with at the bank seemed like a good guy. He had all the credentials, had an MBA, and seemed like a nice person. We had nothing against him at all, but the process wore us out. I would not use them again and not because I despised the guy. But mistakes were made and the process was backed up.

    We weren't happy with our previous mortgage company, so, we were trying to get out of that. We were recommended to AmeriSave by my father who worked with them in the past, specifically the agent we worked with.     I wanted to buy a house and HomeDirect was the first to contact me about a mortgage. Their loan process was straightforward and it was a give and take situation. They asked for stuff and I gotta give it to them. They were very efficient in that respect in terms of staying on top of it and so was I.     I was looking into refinancing with two of my banks and then HomeDirect but my banks weren't forthcoming when replying to emails so I left and went with HomeDirect, Their process was streamlined and straightforward. The rep was very attentive, which was the most important thing and that has been my best experience of all the times I've done mortgage transactions. Joy was helping my husband with all the paperwork but it got to where we were faxing over the same documents about five times. She would call to say that she needed a form and I would tell her that I had already sent her that two weeks ago, then that I sent it to her about a week ago, and that my husband sent it to her. At the time, we were living out of our motorhome until the house was ready to close. So every time, I had to get in the car, go to the warehouse and get the documents out of the warehouse, travel all the way over to the UPS store, scan them, and send them over. It was ridiculous.     The company that we were with and had been for years sent a notice saying that our rate was gonna go up in September and that it would be going up every six months. Our rate was at about 3.4 and when it went up the first time, it went up to 4.25. Six months from then, what would it be? I thought we've got to do something else. I looked at a number of companies and the next day, I had some of them call in. There was one company that gave us 4% and locked it in for 30 years. But I liked what HomeDirect offered. Also, the man that I dealt with seemed to have the answers I was looking for and he was somebody I could deal with.

    HomeDirect asked the normal requirements of signing all the papers and there seemed to be dozens of those. There was also a credit check which was fine. We have good credit. It took a couple of months when it shouldn't have taken about a month. Every time that I was told that I had all the information that they would need, the next day, I would get more information that they needed. It was a long process and it didn't seem that they had their ducks in a row.

    The customer service was mostly good but there were a couple of issues and I think the rep forgot that I was the customer. I had paid for service and he was not willing to go the extra mile to get things done so he missed some deets. At the end of the day, I felt that there were a couple of points that I had to push harder than I thought I needed to do to get something done. When I was having problems with another lender, I reached out to them and they were responsive and had, at least, as good of a rate as I could find.

    I started with HomeDirect Mortgage, specifically with Ryan, the agent that we had about three years ago, trying to do an inquiry. They showed up on a website when I did something online and then I got a call back from their salesman, Dave, first thing in the morning. When I shopped around with several other lenders, his closing cost was significantly less than everyone else’s and his rate was better so it was a best-case scenario.     HomeDirect Mortgage had the lowest rate and their application process was professional. Although it wasn’t necessarily their fault, there was a lot of back and forth with the application and underwriting. It needed a lot of paperwork. We have moved out of the house and construction had already begun, so they needed to know what the plans were. They required around 15 documents, but every one was reasonable. It included things such as how the house looks like now, how it would like when it’s done since they were trying to work on it, if they have a copy of the exact cost of the project and how much cost was already paid for. I simply understood that they needed to know those things.

    I worked with Josh and I was impressed with his patience. I told him to give me a couple of days to track down one form or another, but he was always very cheery. He had every right to complain, but he never did. He was a sweet guy. The rate was very competitive.     We just closed on the home and we had a child on the way which was the reason that we're needing a house and not renting anymore. HomeDirect has a competitive rating and I was enrolled in their FHA program. Tyson, the guy that helped me, offered good service. He made things as simple as it could be. With FHA, there was a lot that entailed, especially with me being an independent contractor for my work. He helped me walk through that process of being able to provide the documentation that I needed for the FHA loan. It's a tedious process but with him, it made it a little bit more simple. After everything got settled down, he kept me updated and let me know what was happening with the loan.

    He had another assistant, who helped him and everything went smoothly after we had the documentation submitted. The application and underwriting process took a while, and a lot of it has to do with the way I would pay so it took close to three weeks for everything to get finalized from the initial application. Also, they need improvement in communication or understanding of how the FHA loan works because there was a little bit of disconnect of what documentation or terminology was needed for an FHA loan. After we closed on the house, I was going to be sent a link to set up for the auto-pay for my mortgage and being able to just do online access on my mortgage, but I never got the link. Still, I got a letter about three weeks later. In terms of the rates and terms, HomeDirect has the lowest and most competitive rate I was given, and there wasn’t any lender fee.

    HomeDirect Mortgage had competitive rates and better customer service than the other three companies we were looking at for a new home purchase. We went through the process with Ronald and he was way ahead of the game. Compared to the other person that we were dealing with, he was much faster. He was ready for our deposit for the appraisal and the other lender hadn't even been able to give us a loan estimate. Ronald worked with our budget and tried to help us get the best rate with lender credits because we lost down on those since we didn’t end up going with the builder’s lender. He worked it so that we could get some credit for closing cost but still keeping the rate. He was very efficient and he would text us anytime, even if it is in the evening.     I needed to buy a house, so I applied for a first-time home buyers loan with HomeDirect Mortgage. I worked with my broker from Keller Williams, looked at properties, put in a couple of bids on a few places, and found the one that I like. The interaction with the reps that I worked with was great up to the end. However, they gave me the closing documents at 8:30 in the evening on Friday, but I informed everybody involved that I work second shift on 10 hours a day in the afternoon from 2:00 to 11:00 and that I’m not available during those hours because I work in a factory. I was trying to get a hold of people from HomeDirect but nobody works on the weekend, so it was hard to get questions answered for a few things to clear up about the closing process.

    I tried to get a hold of everybody though their cell phones, text message, emails, and the online interface, but nobody had the documents to be able to answer questions or couldn’t answer questions until Monday. The Monday closing was scheduled at 10:00 AM and the banks didn’t open until 9:00. I had to cut a cashier’s check at the last minute and make it to the title place and do my final home inspection before I close on the property. The time constraints were really tight, but other than that, it was fantastic.

    The whole application process was very streamlined and very efficient from start to finish. And, including the underwriting process, it took a little over 20 days. However, they could improve their communication at the very end and the drive home. They should have the closing disclosure with them or access them online, so they can answer any questions for the customer. I needed just two questions answered to get the exact dollar amount to cut the cashier’s check. It was explained they weren’t going to put the broker fees in there and that was off by about $250. Nonetheless, the rates were fantastic and working HomeDirect helped me make my first purchase smooth and get me in the house as fast as possible.

    I applied for a mortgage for an initial house purchase. I did it with HomeDirect because of their rate. The whole application process went very well. They gave me a link, I uploaded all my W2s, pay stubs, bank records and all the like. The seller didn’t want to close for four months so they kinda took the initial application process, but didn’t give full final underwriting until probably three months later.

    The reps handled everything. The guy that I started with left the company, so another guy took over and then there was one other guy involved, the underwriter and both of them did a great job. I was also impressed by their responsiveness and there was no ambiguity. He knew exactly what he needed. I was able to get it to him, so it was all very efficient.     We were buying a house and I'm a veteran and I did a 30-year fixed VA loan with HomeDirect Mortgage. We were recommended through a friend of my wife's at her job because they dealt with HomeDirect as well. HomeDirect needed to run our credit and pull my VA pre-approval letter. We were so busy between packing and working but the online application process made it easier for us to be able to electronically answer all the questions that needed to be answered. Our lender, Nate had somebody else that was able to deal with us directly if he couldn't be reached. Also, if their reps couldn't answer the phone, they'd return our call immediately.

    We were really impressed with the process from beginning to end. We were shooting for the end of July to close and it ended up sooner than that. Initially, I gave the opportunity to our previous lender to match whatever HomeDirect was offering and he couldn't do it and that took an extra day or two but we still closed in about a week and a half earlier than what we projected.     The process at HomeDirect was pretty straightforward. I dealt with the lender Dave directly over the phone a lot and he was able to give us a lot of information upfront. I really liked their online portal as we were able to upload all the documents necessary into it. They also did really well with communicating back and forth with us through email. Everything was electronic so the documents that we needed to review or sign were electronically generated and provided. I found that very easy and convenient.

    We did the 30 day Escrow and the pre-approval only took a couple of days. The underwriting took a little bit longer but that was only because they were running into an issue with the Home Owners Association and that required an update on the document from the appraiser. The document that the appraiser had didn’t match with what the record of the Home Owners Association had. That was the only thing that could’ve been sped up.     We're looking at new properties and our requirements came on the market. We had some money saved but not enough for the entire payment on the house, so we looked at mortgages. I did a search online to find the best rates and HomeDirect Mortgage had no fees, quick closings, and the best rate for the term I was looking at. We went with the 15-year conventional mortgage with them. The process of obtaining our mortgage was great. I applied online on a Monday morning then, I got a callback from the mortgage agent right away.

    The agent was a really nice person to work with and she was fantastic. I went forward with the application from that point. I got other quotes, but the other banks and other companies had trouble meeting the timeframe that I was looking into. It was a two-week closing and they weren’t able to meet. The whole process took a couple of days, but it was a just a couple of hours of me entering data. It was approved within 48 hours.

    The rates and terms of the mortgage that I received were good and I like everything about this except for one thing. I don’t like how my taxes and insurance are being escrowed. There’s really no option to get out of that unless I pay a bunch of money. I have perfect credit scores, yet I’m still being forced to escrow with the bank and it will be too much than the actual payments will be. They said that they’ll give me a refund at the end. I asked if I get the interest on all the overage that they are holding for me and they said no. So, the bank keeps my money and it’s like a free loan to the bank. I also asked if I would get out of that escrow and they said no and that I still have to pay $700. I told them that I’m not gonna pay that money.

    Nevertheless, I would recommend HomeDirect Mortgage and I would recommend that particular agent to work with because she was very knowledgeable, had a lot of experience, and provided a lot of guidance along the way. It was a good company to do business with and they were quick. They even forewent the appraisal process on the home which saved a ton of time and cost. I appreciated that.

The application and underwriting process took took about four weeks and then, the challenge came in the credit rating that a consumer can see versus what the mortgage company uses. There ought to be one system that people can see and get judged on that and not what we can’t see. That was the most disappointing part of the whole process. They should make an easier way to understand the overall process when you start out. Nevertheless, their customer service did a great job.     We were looking for a new home so we looked into applying for a mortgage. I spoke to many different lenders on the phone and through email and everybody gave the same prices and fees. But Ryan, the loan officer of HomeDirect Mortgage, was outstanding and he won my business. If he worked for a different company, I would have gone with a different company. I was impressed by his clear, concise answers as well as his punctuality. Plus, I liked the ease of working with someone directly. Instead of a long explanation on something, I wanted a straight explanation, but some people still chose to speak to me like the home buying process is very complicated, and I didn't like being talked down to. They liked to give very vague answers and I didn't like that. In contrast, Ryan was always a Johnny-on-the-spot giving very clear answers and if he couldn’t give me one, he would find out the answer and let me know as soon as he did.

    The online application process was fine. Everything that you can do online is always a better process. Ryan directed me on what to do on the website. I was a very good customer as well in the sense that I was very quick to get to him any document that he needed from me. The website was very user-friendly and it was easy to upload stuff. Also, I could send to Ryan as a PDF file anything that I wasn’t able to upload and he would upload them for me, and that was part of the reason he was very easy to work with. He didn’t keep redirecting me to a website.

    The time limit put on the whole process by HomeDirect or the New York process, since we purchased the home there, may have been a factor and the whole closing process took two months although it should have only taken 35 days. The process was too long because there were too many people involved, but it was very easy. All in all, HomeDirect Mortgage was great and Ryan was excellent. They should give that dude a promotion or a raise because he's on the ball with everything.

    The guy I talked to, Jeff, seemed to be knowledgeable and on top of what he was doing, and that was all I wanted. He always responded and got back to me. HomeDirect's terms were fine too. The only problem I had was that every time I turned around, there was some other piece of paper they needed. I don't know how many different times the underwriters asked for something new. No one could seem to give me a complete list right at the start so we could put everything together, send it to them in a file and be good to go. Jeff didn't know what paperwork was needed either. He would get a call from somebody saying they needed something. It was like the inter-office wasn't working together. It was bad enough for me to think it was a mistake and that I should've gone to somebody else. That was how critical that was.

    Then when I thought we were all done, I'd get a call. Since I'm working for a living and I travel, I couldn't just reach into my file and pull stuff out. It was a major stumbling point. The other thing that drove me crazy was that HomeDirect would send me stuff via email that I could never get to open. So I was never sure what was going on. I'd have to call Jeff and then he'd send it in some electronic thing.

    We were looking for an investment, a home that we could live in for the next 10 years or so and resell. HomeDirect Mortgage contacted me through Zillow and they had the best rates. There were several times where we had to get the pre-approval amounts increased during bids and the mortgage broker, Ryan, was very available 24/7 throughout the pre-approval process, which was very nice. The competitors that were looking for mortgage loans weren’t available on weekends, which was a huge detriment when you were inside bids, and a huge plus for HomeDirect.

    Ryan was very helpful throughout the process and always had my interest in mind, especially when we decided to try to convert to a VA loan. He was very helpful in explaining differences and the methods. He also very clearly outlined the benefits and explained the limits of getting VA loan for future home purchases. We had to do everything virtually as he was in Kansas and I was in Chicago, and he sent reports and information via email. It would have been nice if he offered to schedule some time with me to review the information though. There was a lot of information there and I felt like I had to pull the information and ask clarifying questions, rather than having the information pushed to me.

    Other than that, the underwriting process was very quick. We tried to do as much underwriting as possible for the actual offer and from the time that somebody offered to when we closed, it was three weeks. Moreover, the rates were great and lower than we expected. HomeDirect was incredibly helpful during the bidding process. I had a great experience with them and if a friend was considering a VA loan, I would recommend this particular broker. I would also use HomeDirect Mortgage again.

    I purchased a new home and I got a VA loan from HomeDirect Mortgage. David, the guy I was working with, was upfront with me the whole time. I had a few choices because I was using my VA. I liked dealing with David. He was being honest and he wasn’t trying to hide anything from me. And also, if I had a question, no matter what time of the day it was, he would call me right back or text me. He knew everything. I live in the state of Maryland and there are some fees. One of the things I have to pay is extremely high in Maryland and a couple of the people didn’t know that if you split it between the seller and the buyer. But David knew right off breaking those. He was on top of things and it was really him who made me go with HomeDirect.

    Once he verified I was a veteran and I'm self-employed, I didn’t have to jump through any extraordinary hoop. Also, the online application process was streamlined and relatively simple. They let me know what I needed and David got all those documents and submitted them to a secure site and then HomeDirect went from there. The whole process took about 30 days. The rate was also excellent. I shopped around and it was very comparable. My wife and I are overall happy. Everything is fine and I would definitely recommend HomeDirect to any other veterans whom I know are ready to buy a house.
