I've used HomeDirect Mortgage to refinance in the past and this time, I applied for a loan to finance a new home purchase. I called my loan officer Jordan, directly and he was good. The application this time was a lot easier since I've used them to refinance. Jordan had most of my information, so I just had to send him new updated pay stubs. He did the whole application and underwriting process really fast in about three weeks. Overall, my experience with HomeDirect has been good.

We were buying a house, and I Googled and found HomeDirect. They called me, and then we took it from there, step-by-step. They had better rates, and their online application process was easy. We went with their FHA program, and the application and underwriting process that took a couple of days was good the way it was. I had very good interactions with their reps, and I worked with Matt. He was very friendly and helpful, and he responded to all our exchanged emails very quickly. I felt very comfortable working with him, and at the time I had a question, they answered me quickly. They walk you through the process, and they know what they're doing. For a new home buyer, they're super helpful. I have a house now, and I feel very good about the way HomeDirect worked with us to help us close the loan.

My experience with HomeDirect Mortgage was really good. It’s all depending on the loan officer that you have working with you and on whether they listen to you or not. And the person I had working with me was really knowledgeable. They understood the loan and the loan process, and they helped me in every decision aspect of it, whether I should buy a new house or renovate. The communication was amazing too. They told me everything that I needed to do and gave me a checklist. The loan process took around 60 days to complete and the terms are good. They’re at the going rate.

HomeDirect Mortgage was my previous mortgage lender and they did me good when I bought my last house. This time around, the process of obtaining the mortgage was also good. It was the same as the last time, three years ago. If I had one complaint, that is they laid off or fired the last guy that was doing my loan for me right at the end, so it wasn't pleasant. The new person wasn’t as responsive. I had worked with Jordan for several months on obtaining the loan. If I emailed them, I usually got an email back within an hour, whereas it would be a day or two before the new person would respond. He didn’t have a lot left to do at that point, but I could tell there was a difference in the service. Nonetheless, the rate of the mortgage that I received was competitive. It wasn’t great, but it was satisfactory.

We applied for a mortgage as we were buying a new house. HomeDirect had a half a percent lower interest rate than anywhere else that I looked at and it was much better. We ended up going with an FHA loan. Their mortgage process was pretty easy. I called and talked to the gentleman. Then, they set it up online and I did all the paperwork that way. The application and underwriting process took about three weeks. However, about a week before my loan was supposed to close, they laid off my loan officer and the only way that I caught it was by me calling. They put a different person on it though who made sure it got done on time.
HomeDirect’s customer service was fine and when they found out that I needed some quick help, a rep got put on it who dropped everything and she prioritized it. I felt very comfortable working with her. They knew everything that they were talking about from the beginning and everything that they said happened. Also, they would either email or call me in a couple of hours to answer any of my questions or concerns. But it would be nice to have more communication from them about what’s going on and to let me know where things were and to get something done or status update instead of me calling and checking. Despite that, I liked the online application much better and it was much easier than the first time I did it in my first house which was in a different way. In fact, I have a new house in Tennessee and HomeDirect managed to time it correctly to go with the sale of my house in Oregon.

I had a 30-year mortgage with a five-year ARM upfront and it was due. I needed to get a new 25-year mortgage. I looked around and HomeDirect Mortgage had the best deal. My original mortgage was with Bank of America and HomeDirect just blew Bank of America away. Plus, HomeDirect was very easy to deal with. They took a lot of information over the phone, sent me some emails and that was it. Doing the online application took about 30 minutes. Also, the loan officer that I dealt with was very helpful. He explained everything.

I had a previous mortgage through HomeDirect so I also went with them for refinancing. My first experience with them was nice, smooth and fast. I checked back with them on the rates and it’d beat any rate I could anywhere else. We got a hold of Seth and I told him that we were interested in refinancing the loan. He gave me a quick eval on where we were sitting at and what he thought we could get. So, we proceeded from there and turned in the typical paperwork. Most of the things were DocuSign but there were a couple of papers we had to physically sign. It moved along pretty quickly, got a home appraisal, kicked back in, had a termite inspection, got it turned back in, and then it was set up for closing. I could get a hold of Seth any time of the day and we had very open communication. The assistant, Alyssa, was also great and everything went really well.
Although, there were a couple of things that they could improve. Since we refinanced, we sent in an amount that was owed and it included a couple of other debt into the mortgage. I included some paperwork on and told them that the last statement said this but I paid on what we really owe which was not incorporated into the cost. We had to go back and work with the closing company to get that taken care of. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed working with Seth and Alyssa and it was a pleasure.

My husband filled something out online, and he started getting a whole bunch of phone calls. He made a note that said he wanted to be emailed. And HomeDirect was the only person who emailed him instead of calling him. I've been through the process of obtaining a mortgage once before. And so, I was prepared and knew what to expect. We started with HomeDirect in November, and we completed everything in February. We had some debt consolidation, and clean-up work we had to do, so it makes sense.
The person we worked with would email us and then we would email him back. Unfortunately, sometimes when we would call, he would not always be readily available on the phone. HomeDirect's rates were good. We locked in at a decent rate, and we also had VA involvement. So, we did really good and I feel comfortable about that. The terms are fine and not out of the ordinary. I would recommend them to a friend.

HomeDirect Mortgage had the best rates that I had seen online and the rate and the terms that I received were really good. I’m glad I got in early. It was our first time buying a home and we just had to fill out the pre-application and get approved for that, then submit some legal documents that you would submit like for buying a car -- our place of employment, how much we make, and some tax returns from the previous year. The process was really pain-free. The mortgage guy that we had was on top of everything and he was very helpful. We were first time buyers, so he was explaining everything to us in detail. We just had a small issue with the communication between the underwriter and our mortgage person. I had to send to my mortgage person proof of employment, but they didn’t send it to the underwriter, or the underwriter lost it or something happened.
I would totally recommend HomeDirect to anybody that was looking for a mortgage. I’m glad to know that HomeDirect has the backing of BOK in Oklahoma, so it is an actual Oklahoma company, not based out of another state. It was a big thing for my wife as well. She really liked it because the last mortgage that we had was set up a bit weird.

We were thinking about refinancing, and HomeDirect contacted me and said, “Hey, you wanna refi? I can lower your payment.” That sounded good to me and I could do that. The application process was very easy. The whole process took two weeks. The customer service was fantastic. Tyson, the guy I dealt with, was on top of everything and he followed up daily. He did what he said he was gonna do. He did a great job. The lady who came out when we did our paperwork was extremely nice and extremely professional too. It was probably the easiest one I’ve ever done in my life, and it was very comfortable.
We did have a lot of questions, but the loan agent would pick up the phone and call me, to make sure everything was going smoothly. He kept me abreast of what the next process was. Even though I would get an email notification, he would call me and let me know, “Hey, it’s going to underwriting. Expect us by a certain day.” The appraisal came back fine as well. We all knew what it should be. It has been five years since we bought the house, so the rates were lower, and it was just about what I thought it should be. So, it is great. Going with them hurt my friend’s feelings ‘cause he has a mortgage company. So, he was like, “Why didn’t you call me?” I said, “These guys were easy.”

We have worked with HomeDirect last year for a new home purchase so we went back with them again. I was very satisfied in my interaction with their customer service. The rep worked fast and he got the job done. The whole process was easy and it was completed in three weeks. The mortgage rates I received were a bit higher, but I guess the rates were kinda following up at that time so it was not anyone’s fault. We locked the rate and then the rates went lower although it wasn’t that much different. The fees were lower too and it was very comparable. Given my experience, I’ll be happy to work with HomeDirect next time around for a refinance.

I was buying a house, so I applied for a mortgage, and HomeDirect Mortgage the first one that contacted me. They could work with the VA for me, so I went with them. The application process was fairly easy. My experience with them went good and I didn't have any issues. They are out in Oklahoma, while we are out in Florida, so some of the things were a little different, but they all got rectified. The guy I was using to sign everything was Chad and everything went smoothly. Anytime I had a question, I could call. The rate and terms of the mortgage I received were outstanding. It was a little better than I thought I was gonna get. I would use HomeDirect again if I have to.

HomeDirect had a better rate than any other local companies. I called them and sent some of my information that everybody asked for. The application was good. It's about what you do anywhere with the local place. They did well, allowing a mix of emailed replies and just straight-up dumping the documents on my website. But because they had layoffs right in the middle of the process, the process was extended out. We had to switch loan officers halfway through. It was probably a month before we got it finalized. Even so, the communication was solid throughout, and that's the most important part. I talked to the rep on the phone several times and I emailed back and forth, and every time, they were pleasant interactions and had good response times.
My request to HomeDirect was to do something that isn't very common. It was doing a mortgage recast where we're up to 5% down, and then have a lump sum after we ended up selling our house. A lot of lenders I talked to weren't really aware of what the rules were for that or how it all worked. I talked to several people when I was shopping the mortgage, and John seemed to know right away what I was talking about and was able to find the rules and give me some of those rules. It was nice that he was aware of what I was talking about and that he was well-trained.

When we bought a new home, one of my friends recommended HomeDirect for a mortgage application. We tried a couple of other lenders too but HomeDirect was able to give the best offer. I worked with two reps and they were responsive. Whenever I had questions or called, they contacted me quickly. The only hiccup that we had was that the application and underwriting process took about a month and the final closing date had to be moved by a couple of days. I think the time it took for the underwriting process could be streamlined. I was getting asked for documents multiple times.
There were a few documents that weren't available immediately, so we had to wait until they were uploaded on our main account before getting back. So, if there was a clear set of requirements and if they had asked for everything at one go, it will be less time spent on my side to get everything done. That aside, the mortgage rate that I received at the time was good and it was competitive because others were also doing similar rates.

We were looking to do a cash-out refinance. We had worked with HomeDirect Mortgage a couple of years prior and we had a good experience with them so we decided to go with them again. The process was easy. We contacted the same person who helped me the first time, Ryan, and he was excellent. The process had a little bit of paperwork involved but overall, the process was smooth and painless. The application and underwriting process took a month and a half or so. Ryan was very professional. I emailed him and he called me back literally within an hour or two. He and the rest of his team were great, very responsive and kept us informed of what was going on. They were able to give us the best rate on both times when we refinanced a couple years ago and when we did this cash-out refinance.
The rates and the terms of the mortgage were fine. We knew that the market had gone bad in terms of interest rates. The prime lending rate had increased, the Fed had increased that, so we knew that we weren’t gonna be able to keep the rate that we had gotten a couple of years ago. We knew that going in, so Ryan did his best to work with us and get us as lower rate as possible. And we did a bit of a trade off too. We went up an eight of a point so we had a bit more of a lender credit to go against our closing cost. He was very clear and upfront. He worked with us in terms of the amount of money that we wanted to get back to the cash-out piece of it. So, the experience was fine. There was complete transparency and we knew what we were getting.

I needed some cashing out. I shopped around and selected HomeDirect Mortgage. I’m a loan officer myself and they have great rates. I applied online and secured a loan with them. The online application process was good and the lending process took a couple of weeks. But there should just be a one-stop shop for everything. As it is, there are two different websites and if you log into one, it may not be the correct one and you come out with a separate email. Even if the messages are secure, it's annoying if you lose your password. Even so, Dave, the rep that I worked with, was very professional and knew his stuff. The first time I went through a refi, I had some guy who quit the company mid-cycle. That wasn't positive. But David took over and it was easy after that. He was the guy I trusted from the first time. He was direct in his conversation with me. He laid out the pluses and minuses. He gave me different options. Three years later, I made a refi with HomeDirect and the process was even easier. David had a lot of my information ready. Everything was online in a secure way and I just had to update it. It was easy to upload the documents. It was extremely quick.
The application itself took me an hour. It took HomeDirect a couple of weeks to do all that. David emailed a couple of times asking for an update on this and that. They applied for a credit card after I had submitted my application. I had a positive experience having HomeDirect hold my mortgage and it was positive applying for a refi. Also, David is a guy I would definitely use again.

About seven different companies were trying to get my business but Richard, the gentleman that I talked to from Bank of Oklahoma, was so helpful, courteous and caring. His assistant was really splendid too. Between the two of them, I couldn’t go wrong in applying for a mortgage. I didn’t realize customer service was still alive to that degree. They were unbelievable. I could send an e-mail at nine o’clock at night, California time, and it was answered by 9:30. I applied with another bank previously that seemed good and they were just gonna send me a rough idea of what they could do and they couldn’t send it to me in English. I didn’t know what language it was. I speak Portuguese and Spanish and it wasn’t even in German. How would they ever get my paperwork straight? On the other hand, Richard took the time to explain what I needed.
With HomeDirect Mortgage, my experience was pleasant and there were no condescending lines from them. Plus, their terms were untouchable by anybody else. Richard got me a VA loan and it was right in the area of 3.7% and that was assumable. When I was in my closing documents meeting with both the real estate companies and the lady from the escrow company, no one could believe the rate that I got. Everybody couldn’t believe that he got the VA to do that. He did it totally legally. HomeDirect Mortgage picked up all the loose ends all the time and there were no surprises. However, while the guy we worked with seemed he was mostly on top of things, it wasn't clear what the overall process was. A lot of the process was unclear in terms of the order of things and it was a little bit scattered all over the place. It would've been helpful to have a step-by-step overview early on of how things are gonna work where he could have sent an email and then gone over it over the phone. He also sometimes was not really good in giving concise, clear answers when we were trying to ask what the process was, in terms of immediate next steps or when certain things would be required. If he works for HomeDirect, then that’s great. He went above and beyond his job and also gave me counseling on the entire experience. I would recommend him tenfold, guaranteed, to anyone who is going through the first time. Through his counseling and motivation, I was able to save $20,000 or $30,000 off my house.
The mortgage process was extremely quick, and the rate was fair. But I probably would have taken even a higher interest rate just because of the experience, to be able to even capitalize on a home like I was able to. There was no way I could have executed without the understanding of it. At first, I didn't know that I could get this home by myself, but they were able to give advice. With all the options available, I was able to really pinpoint the best opportunity for me, so it was very customer-driven and I thought I was talking with a friend.
I definitely recommended HomeDirect, specifically that individual that I worked with, to several places. I feel like anyone who is going through this could learn a lot and capitalize on any opportunities, where they feel like there is no hope. I went several years without being able to get a loan and I had to wait until I literally worked at this facility for two years. I had a $50,000 down payment, and I went above and beyond. When my ex-wife and I got divorced, we were refinancing the mortgage on the house into my name only. The loan was with HomeDirect Mortgage at the time and that made me go with them for the refinance. The online application process was easy and the lending process was good and straightforward. But because I changed jobs and a couple of different things, the application and underwriting process took longer than it should have and it took a few months to complete. To obtain the refinance, I had to have the divorce decree, paycheck stubs, W2s, and all the normal stuff needed.
I needed the refinance done and it was great dealing with the loan organizer. Ryan, the loan officer that I dealt with, was very professional. He was always friendly, super nice and chill. He was helpful through the whole process and I was really comfortable working with him. He knew exactly what he was talking about and if I had a question, he was always straight to answer and tell me what I needed to know. The rates and terms of the mortgage that I received were good. Working with HomeDirect helped me get rid of a large excess of my life. They’re good people to get your home through.

My wife said that we were gonna go for the funding online and HomeDirect Mortgage came as a recommendation from the Realtor directly. I did the application online and it was convenient to have it like that. During the process of obtaining the mortgage, there was an extensive questionnaire that we filled out, and it required going out there and closing out financial records that we had. But overall, the process was painless and we qualified easily. I would recommend HomeDirect Mortgage. The manager that was overlooking this thing was very professional about it when he told me that he was gonna call me at a certain time, or when he owed information or I owed him information. The information came mutually. And even on the weekend, he would respond with the information happily.

We did an FHA loan and ended up with a very good rate. The online application was very easy and the whole process took about 30 days, but that’s because I didn’t have access to a fax machine, so getting the paperwork wasn’t as quick. I was an existing HomeDirect customer and as I went to purchase my new home, I found that it might be easier to first see what the options were with them. They weren't my first choice as I started the home-buying process, but their speed made me choose them. I went online through the HomeDirect website and reached out to them. I connected with Kerry and he was so speedy in getting information back to me.
On my first home, I was purchasing completely by myself. And as I was purchasing the second home, I was engaged. So, they looked at two people's finances and considered the credit history of two people instead of one. It definitely made the process a bit more complicated, trying to find the best interest rate just with trying to get all the information together from both of us, but Kerry was very quick at that.
As I started to work with Kerry, the person who had initially helped me with my first house, Tamara, had reached out and said that she could help me if I wanted to keep my business with her. So, I started working with her and right as I were to lock in the rate with her, she left HomeDirect. So, that was when the process got a little more complicated, as I was trying to decide if it was a good idea to go to HomeDirect. They were unable to lock the rate in before she quit and I got hung out to dry.
The interest rate went up a couple of days later, which wasn't a great situation. The rate wasn't where I wanted it to be, but it ended up working out just fine. The process took two weeks from start to finish, but there were definitely some bonuses on my side. I was trying to get all of the correct information with Kerry and his team and making those final decisions. But I felt like it was still a quick process once the final application went in and the underwriting process began.
HomeDirect Mortgage could improve communication between corporate and the local person. Being able to share and access information across personnel and the organization was definitely a part of the struggle, which was why locking in the interest rate was such an ordeal. I submitted my application information and the statement history twice. They weren't able to share that information or get access to it quick enough through their internal system and I had to upload it online. As a whole though, the experience ended up really well. Ultimately, I worked with Kerry and his assistant and would definitely recommend working with them. I'd also advise sticking with whoever you start with.

Every person is different and not every mortgage company meets the need and the budget of every person. That’s something for each person to find out for themselves. They have to figure out what’s gonna be best for them and their needs. For me, I liked the fact that HomeDirect is a direct lender. I like the idea that I could work with someone from the loan application all the way to the end of the mortgage. I didn’t have to worry about who my loan was gonna be sold to and if it was gonna be sold to a lender that I didn’t like. I felt good about HomeDirect.
This mortgage was for a purchase and the online application process was relatively simple, compared to the process I went through for previous homes in terms of the things that I had to deal with. It was mostly just putting together a group of documents and it was pretty streamlined. HomeDirect didn’t need all of the bank statements. I also liked working with Conner. He very knowledgeable and direct, and there was not a whole lot of BS. I was pleased with the process overall. I didn’t have any real hang-ups. If there were things that they came back saying they needed, they were very simple. From the time that we actually selected the house and got the contract, the process took about 30 days. I’m also okay with rate and terms. The only thing that I was kinda kicking myself for is that I didn’t do it last summer when they were much lower. But I feel like they were very competitive in the market.

My experience with HomeDirect Mortgage was phenomenal and I'd recommend anybody to them. After I put something on the internet, I got a phone call from one of their reps. He was very personable. He was a vet and he understood the world of veterans. I know that HomeDirect gives loans to anybody, but he was trying to focus on vets. He seemed to be, "Hey, I wanna get this for you guys, and this is not about a loan. This is about me trying to help you with your life and get into the property you want." He touched my patriotic heart with his conversation. It was an awesome experience and I would refer him to anybody.
I then went through the VA loan process and it was easy. I didn't even feel like I was going through a process. Within minutes, the guy came back to me with a rate that beat another bank's rate. The only thing was, there was a lot of employment verification. They could have just focused on the 1040, which is the formal document you use to report your income to the government, and that would have been it. What happened seemed to be very back and forth with them telling me that they would need to call my employer. But the whole thing was rapid fast. From "hi" to the closing, it took three weeks.

HomeDirect Mortgage was the one that was recommended to me and I got a mortgage for a new home. It took a while because of a bunch of issues with the house that had to be taken care of first. Then, I work up on the Slopes, so that made it even more difficult trying to get paperwork done. I tried signing papers up there, but some paperwork wasn’t included in the packet. So, we decided to just wait till I got back in town to finish doing all the paperwork. I had good communication with HomeDirect. We were going back and forth. There were many issues with getting things done to the house to make everybody happy and to be able to sell it and there were also repairs. We had to go through that whole process. The customer service reps were open with me and anytime I had a question or if there was something going on, they contacted me right away. They were very polite and it was a good interaction.
The rate and terms of the mortgage were good and for where the stock prices were at the time, it was the best I could get. However, I would like HomeDirect to do a little more due diligence on paperwork because there were a couple of times where they got the paperwork mixed up. I ended up having to send three different checks because they kept on messing things up and things kept on getting scrolled around. Sometimes, some areas of the paperwork were a little confusing and we had to go back-and-forth but other than that, everything else was smooth. I used HomeDirect before and everything went nicely and smoothly. This time, everything kept on changing rapidly that it was hard to keep up with everybody in the loop.

HomeDirect Mortgage was one of the lowest rates that I found when I went to Zillow. I went directly to the online and sent my information. About a couple hours later, I received a call from Erica. Erica was the person that helped me throughout the whole refinance process. She was really good. She sounded like she knew what she was doing. I decided to go through the process of pulling my credit report and having to qualify for the refinance loan, which she did very quickly. So, I was very excited about that. We ran through some humps, some things that she’s never experienced before, and we struggled through those, but we pulled through. So, that was good. I’m very happy with the rates and terms of the mortgage.
I commend Erica. She handled my loan and she was really good. I ended up getting a little negative towards the end, but she was still very positive. She continued to go through the process of explaining things even though I gave up. I’m most happy about that. Instead of a 35-year mortgage, I only have a 25-year mortgage now. The interest rate is lower, which means that I can put more money towards the principal which is really good. So, it makes me and my wife feel good to know that whenever we make a payment, we’re actually contributing more to the bottom line of the home than just interest.

Then we began the process of putting things together and giving them the information they need and then getting the loan rate locked in. The communication process with HomeDirect was exceptional and it came out really smooth. John was also exceptional interacting wise. We had phone and e-mail contact. He constantly let me know what was going on and where the loan process was at. It was very easy to get the information that they needed back to them. The process was terrific and the service was fantastic even though we’re located several states away. He was in Kansas City and I’m here in Arizona.
We had a fairly short timeframe because we had sold our previous home. We had to be out of it within 30 days. And so, we had to have a good, timely processing of our loan application and that happened. Since it was a VA loan, sometimes it can take a little bit longer. But we had no problem getting things done. The whole process from beginning to end took less than 30 days. We closed on the home on the 28th of February, and we started this process on the last day of January.

We had to wait for my tax papers to come in for the year, and all of that made the process more extensive because we gotta wait for the tax papers to come. They were factoring my income based on 2018 earnings, so that would show my taxes that were filed. I was not able to put down a substantive amount down as a deposit, but their rate is competitive compared with what's out there.
One of the challenges that HomeDirect had was with the underwriting folks, but they did an amazing job trying to get on their schedule and trying to move it. But next time, I'd rather have them let me know everything I need upfront, 'cause we did a lot of back and forth with the underwriting. Because it was a holiday, the application and underwriting process took a little bit longer but it was not bad. The actual portal got a little confusing a little bit, but once we got used to them, it was a nice, secure way of doing things. It's a great record keeper too. The rates we got were very fair.
Even though everything is becoming more computerized, I still love the guy that we work with, and that makes a big difference to people HomeDirect has working with their system. Kent seems to be very knowledgeable and efficient. Any time we have a problem with the computer, and he's not a computer geek, but he can send us the right help. He's always giving us good feedback on what we need to go to get this done. If ever we have any questions, it is very easy to get a hold of him. Usually, he responds either through email or if it's a little complicated, he'll call us or we'll call him.
Working with HomeDirect made a little bit easier financially on us. We were able to consolidate a lot of our bills and everything else into one big bundle, and it made things a little easier for us to take care of. They're doing a great job. My son and daughter are gonna get a house. I would be more than happy to have them work with HomeDirect.

Getting a mortgage would be a good thing to do to get my payments down a little bit, make a little extra cash and pay off some other bills. Nate, the rep from HomeDirect was very professional, friendly and the kind of person I like to talk to. He was pleasant to work with and I was impressed. So, he was good and I enjoyed the experience. It went great. Obtaining the mortgage was a lot easier than it was before. It went well, smoothly and quickly. Nate was always in contact with me and let me know what was going on. Everybody was very professional and helpful with everything. The process took a month but that was expected. Once we got it rolling, it was good and quick. Also, the rates and terms were very reasonable. Everything about my experience with HomeDirect was positive and I’ve even recommended them to a couple of other people. I wanted to purchase a new home and so I applied for a mortgage. HomeDirect had the best rates when you factored in fees. Whereas the others want to list whatever the rate is, then they add a thousand dollars fees, and then the actual yield is substantially higher. When I contacted HomeDirect, they got back to me right away. They were really helpful and great to work with, so I stuck with them. Everybody I talked to at HomeDirect was great. I refinanced my investment property with HomeDirect Mortgage. They were able to do it in the amount that I needed it done for and the rate and terms I received from them were on par with LendingTree, Quicken Loans, USAA, and the other companies that I looked at. I was hoping to get something lower, but considering things, it wasn't bad. They were also able to give me a guesstimate turnaround time wherein they actually do the loan. That helped me as it took out some of the other constraints that some of the other lenders had.
The whole lending process took three weeks and it went so smoothly. That surprised me considering I was expecting a lot of hiccups. The application was easy to complete and I was able to get everything they asked me for within a half an hour of them asking. I didn't have to go back and get the information again because they misplaced something. I was also in constant communication with all the people that were involved in the whole process. I've been dealing with HomeDirect and have had the same mortgage guy for four years. His name was Jim and he was really nice, very informative and very easy to work with. He got me a good rate and I am happy with the rate and terms I got. I have a VA loan and he’ll call sometimes if he sees that it has been six months and if I can get an IRRRL. He’ll also call if there are some benefits to me then let me know what is available and if I wanna change. He’ll sometimes call too to check in and ask how everything was going on in Tennessee.
HomeDirect’s application process was very easy and everything was completed in less than a month. Still, it could have moved around within two weeks if it wasn’t for me trying to get the documents in when they were waiting on when I would return them. Despite that issue, everybody that I've dealt with in the whole process, specifically Jim, had been very open. They were not forceful when I first got the loan. They told me what they can offer and also said to call them back if I was interested. Other mortgage companies would blow my phone up and I would get annoyed because they disturbed me at work. I felt that Jim was very confident in what the company had to offer, so he didn’t need to blow up my phone. So, I called him back and I've been working with him ever since.

The gentleman that I was assigned to was Tyson, and he and his partner, Donna, made things super simple. Tyson was awesome. He was available day and night. When the other company I was dealing with was gonna give me $42,000 money back and move my mortgage rate to $512,000, Jim came out and put the same amount needed.
He's gonna give me $52,000 with $1,100 in origination fees, and we’re still getting still the overall loan amount. And being able to work with me, he went to a lot of effort with what he had done. That made us decide to stay with them even though there was a local company here in Virginia that’s close by. We're in Pennsylvania and we were buying a house in New York. We got a lot of phone calls from other mortgage companies, and we tried to find the best rate. But because HomeDirect was gonna give us 1,800 reimbursement towards our closing, we went with them and got a conventional mortgage. I worked with Dave, and he was friendly. He was clear and he answered the questions directly. He walked us through the details and through any anticipated fees on closing that other mortgage companies hadn’t done.
The application process with HomeDirect, however, was ridiculous and it probably took exactly the amount of time it was supposed to take since purchasing in New York is a traditional nightmare. But it's HomeDirect's underwriting company that needed improving. We couldn’t get closure because any time we put money into our checking account from a source which they didn’t immediately recognize, like a loan repayment, they were afraid. Then those outside agencies that were asked to investigate the legitimacy of our work, would be wondering where the money came from. So we'd start a whole new discussion process and we had to call the bank and tell them that because they were challenged.
Two weeks before the actual closing, we started getting similar checks that we were gonna use to pay down what was still in our line. But our line was part of what they had already okayed even though it was inflated. We sat on the check and didn’t dare to deposit them for two weeks until the day after closing so no one would get upset that we have gotten more money from a legitimate source. It was a really tough situation. Also, this thing about New York incurred an extra $1,000 to us because everybody has to have a lawyer in New York- the seller, the buyer, and the mortgage company- but we had to pay for the mortgage company, which wasn’t quite fair, and our own. Still, we made sure of all the things and the rep was quite helpful. He was neat and he led us through nicely. He would call if he needed something and we’d call if we wanted clarity.

Ronald, a HomeDirect agent, was fantastic and he was ultimately the reason I stayed with them. I'm a prior military and he was military as well, so he was able to relate with dealing with the veterans home loan. In addition, he easily addressed all of the issues or concerns I had. The application process online was straightforward and a little bit positive. It was easy to complete and it was quick. It was weird though that I would get emails saying that I had new actions in my file, but then I would go to my file and it was just a note that there had been actions on my file. The note didn’t say one way or another what had transpired. Nevertheless, when I called Ronald, he was able to explain exactly what happened or what was going on.
The rate of the mortgage I received was very competitive, and it was in line with the other competitive offers. My biggest concern, however, was that HomeDirect is not from the local area in which I was purchasing, so they wouldn’t have the right connections to inspections or to the VA home appraiser. However, being a large company, they indeed have those connections, which alleviated all my fears and kind of a selling point where the local guy was trying to get me to come away from them.

We went with HomeDirect because of Mark specifically. Even though other companies have better rates or a little bit extra money towards closing, the experience he provided was invaluable and worth like everything we got. He was there at every turn and he anticipated things underwriting was gonna need, so we always had the forms in before they needed it. We had a very rigid closing structure that we needed based on where we were living and the fact that we were buying from a family member, closing on time was very important to us.
I tell everybody about him. I'm happy to do further stuff and I would strongly recommend for Mark. He's very experienced in the field and he was always accessible. He gave me his personal cell number and we exchanged texts every weekend, so he put a lot of concern, things that could fester aren't actually a threat. He was able to disarm some of those concerns way earlier and we've been talking for almost years as this matured and even though I wasn’t really even in the window into getting this home. He gave me the time and talked to me for an hour while trying to get kind of a planning strategy to save for it. So, there was definitely a partnership there, far beyond a commission. David, the loan rep was on top of things and he communicated well. He kept me informed and made smart moves. I was very comfortable working with them and if I had a question, it took them only a day to respond. However, I'm already starting to get mail that I assume is stuff that had been sold by them. They’ve sold my name to an insurance and I don’t like that. I know what I need and I really don’t need to be sold stuff. Still, HomeDirect did a good job.

I applied for a mortgage at HomeDirect when I bought my new home. Their rates were lower compared to other lenders. The online application process was pretty smooth. From start to finish, the application and underwriting process took about a month. I worked with a loan officer named James and he was easy to work with and stayed on top of everything. I find it nice that I could contact him any time, even after business hours. Working with HomeDirect made things easier.

I did some shopping around and made some phone calls to mortgage companies. I talked to numerous people and Jason from HomeDirect was the easiest one to talk to and he gave me all the information I needed. Whenever I sent him a message by way of email or leaving him a voicemail, he was very prompt as to returning my calls with information. They told me what I need and I made copies of it or I sent it by way of email and sent it back to them. They were making sure that I understood whatever they needed or underwriting needed and I usually responded back within a few hours and sent the information they needed.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve ever bought, so I kind of knew what to expect. I felt comfortable because I’ve done it before and Jason tolerated me. The online application process was pretty easy and straightforward. The steps to secure the loan was a lot but I knew that I would have to go through all that. I thought some of the steps that the underwriters wanted was irrelevant and not necessary, but I understand that they have their little box that they gotta check. The application took 10 minutes and the underwriting took about 20 days.

I was buying a house and I applied for a mortgage. I went online and requested a couple of quotes. I also talked to a couple of different companies and HomeDirect offered zero dollar fees. They also had the best rate I found. The online application process was very self-explanatory and easy to get through. The rep I worked with, Jordan, was easy to contact. He gave me his phone number and let me text him stuff. I didn't have to submit it through a portal, I could just send everything right to him. He was very available to address any questions or concerns I had. The whole thing took two weeks to complete. I expected it to take a little longer but it was quicker than I thought. HomeDirect offered the lowest interest rates that I was able to find. I applied for a mortgage for a new home purchase and the whole process took roughly 25 days. Working with HomeDirect got me a home and it all went pretty straightforward. I appreciate the work that was done on my behalf.

We were purchasing a new home and went for a VA loan with HomeDirect. The online application process was very easy compared to our last home mortgage. The rep told us that the application and underwriting process would take a certain amount of days but it was a lot shorter time. Dave, our lender, was amazing. He was one of the nicest people I've worked with. Everything, he was on it immediately. He answered any questions I had and he was always available to talk. I was very comfortable with the entire process and HomeDirect's customer service was wonderful. If I had any questions, I would call and the reps would answer the phone or call me back immediately. By working with HomeDirect, we got a new home that we love and we have them to thank for it.

When buying a home, some realtors and people who buy houses before you give horror stories. My father purchased his house through HomeDirect so I worked with them as well and I had an awesome experience. Obtaining the mortgage was simple despite having a couple of hiccups on my end. Everybody was vying for business and because I was at the tail-end of my alimony, the mortgage company wouldn’t accept it. But when I told them I found someone else that would accept it, they said that they could still work with me. They gave me an answer within an hour of me telling them that. I probably would have preferred them to do a little more research into it prior to me having to say I had somebody else. Still, it all worked out.
The online application was easy and straightforward. I started the process in early November and it was pretty much said and done by mid-December. The closing went according to plan. The people I worked with were excellent. They responded to all my questions in a timely manner and were always available. Everything was black-and-white. I was pleased with everything and I got the house.

I am a Bank of Oklahoma employee and we get some discounts using our affiliated company. So, when I thought the rates were raising, I wanted to get a mortgage before the rates took off. HomeDirect’s process was easy. I talked with my mortgage banker at least once over the phone but we did everything by email. I applied and they got back with me in terms of what I qualified for and my limits. I had a preapproval letter within a week and once I found a home after mine sold, they were very easy to work with. They sent me all the documents that I needed to fill out and complete. Everything went very smoothly.
The communication between me and their rep went fine. They were very open with the rates and fees and how much the mortgage was and then CIs. They kept me updated in terms of documents to sign or process. I got a very reasonable rate and terms. They were really good compared to any competitors. I did a VA loan and HomeDirect was one of the few around my area that does VA loans as well so it was nice working with them.

I have had a positive experience with HomeDirect from start to finish. At first, I used an app where I submitted some information and then eight different mortgage companies popped up on the screen that I can pick from. HomeDirect had a great interest rate and their rep contacted me immediately. He was very forthright about what my options were and gave good advice. He was very easy and accessible to get a hold of either through email, phone calls, text messages. He was also very knowledgeable of the loan because I was using a VA loan and I felt comfortable with him. Everything went well so I stuck with them.
I got very reasonable, forthright and clear mortgage rates and terms. It wasn't my first mortgage so I understood the process well. It was a 30-year fixed rate so, there was nothing hidden in that case. But, when I was working with them, it was a little tough as they had a hard time finding the bank when I was trying to submit my homeowners' insurance for closing. The lady I was working with had to get some help but the other lady was able to find it within a few minutes. Other than that, I was very happy with HomeDirect.

I bought a home when I was 19 and this is the first time I've bought again in 10 years. A friend of mine had used HomeDirect on his house and it was a pretty seamless process. So, he gave me his agent’s name and I called him up and went from there. The agent, Brian, directed me to file the application. I got the pre-approval then I got set up in the portal. Everything was easy through the portal and all was cut-and-dry. They would assign me a task like what documents I needed to upload and I went through and got all that uploaded. It got a little bit more stressful towards the closing, which it always does and should be expected, since they kept requiring more items towards the end. The only thing that slowed me down came from the termite inspection and others that I had to get. All in all, the application and underwriting took about a month.
The loan officer who I worked with was great and really responsive. He took my calls, which were sometimes late at night, trying to get him fill up forms. He was willing to work with me when I was trying to explore options as far as what credits I wanted and adjusting the interest rate. He had no problem in re-running the numbers several times so I could see my full range of options.
The rate and terms I got were good. The initial rate was the lowest I found and I've gone to 4 different banks and 4 different lenders. The initial one that they came back with was lower then it ended up needing to go up a bit when starting to get some credits for closing. But overall, the rate was great and even after I got my credit at the closing, it was still lower than most of the other banks. There was one other bank that had a lower interest rate but that was without any credit so it probably would have been higher by the time I added the credits in. HomeDirect definitely made the whole process of home buying easy. Even on the preliminary preapproval side, I didn’t go any further than that with the other bank. I'm sure I would have found another lender if I had to, but HomeDirect was the easiest to work with. I had a good experience with them.

We had some issues on the seller side and they worked hard and came through with the process to try to get everything resolved. We were buying our first home and went with a VA home loan. Then, we went through a third-party one that sent us lots of different quotes from tons of different mortgage companies. HomeDirect Mortgage had a much better interest rate right off the bat and they were able to waive a lot of fees for us that were associated with the VA home loan and other closing costs. On top of that, they were able to work it out, so I was able to waive my property taxes and monthly mortgage in my escrow because I showed them that I qualified for a property tax-free in my area. None of the other companies were willing to do any of those things. Shawn was our rep and he was very helpful, knowledgeable, and extremely easy to get a hold of any time of the day or night. He was also willing to talk to me and my wife any time we send emails.
HomeDirect ran both of me and my wife's credit and they got us our interest rate, which was a much better interest rate and then, we eventually picked our house and we settled on it. We picked the closing date and they locked it for us. The process was much faster. Everything was pretty much handled within two weeks, besides all the extra stuff that we were doing. We were just tying that up as we got closer to our closing date ‘cause it was two months away. The lending process itself was really easy. The only thing that I need to get a hold of them and find out was they ran my credit again after I closed. That wasn't good and I didn't know why they did that. That would be my only complaint at the moment and that might get resolved.
I'm happy with HomeDirect. They definitely made it pretty stress-free as far as the whole process of buying our first home. They went out of their way to work out all those extra little things for me. I don't have to worry about my taxes every month, which is over $1,000 in my home. They made things much easier for me at the end of the day.

Our Realtor put us in contact with Ronald of HomeDirect and kinda went through it that way. We considered other lenders but he was quicker to get what we wanted and he was able to provide us the best rate upfront. Ronald was very easy to get in touch with. If we couldn't get him to answer right then, he usually called back pretty soon afterward.
This is our first time buying a house so the entire thing was a trial by fire, and every step through it was marred with some sort of ridiculous bureaucracy that I’m not used to 'cause I'm in the army. There was quite a bit of paperwork I needed to fill out. I bought plenty of things before and buying a house was probably could have been the most absolutely painful thing in the world for us. For somebody to sit there and tell me exactly how much my mortgage is gonna be for a month was just absolutely ridiculous. But our Realtors and Ronald were really good. They made it as painless as possible although there was still a lot of red tape to go through no matter how easy they tried to make it. It wasn't anything on our part or on their part, it was just the process itself. It was going through the motions.
I'd like to sit and write it out in person and I'm not a fan of doing things online. However, due to the distance, it wasn't feasible. We bought a house in Georgia while I was living in Louisiana, and our mortgage is out of Oklahoma where a VA coming from Washington, DC. So, the online was literally the only way to do it other than mailing the document or we wouldn't have gotten the process done in 35 days.
I would have liked to have seen a list of, "This is how it works.” Show me the brass tacks, almost like a flowchart, instead of showing me the closing documentation which everything is categorized by number and then explaining to me by number what each piece of it is and where each individual or fee went to. It seemed like every time I turned around, there was some sort of fee that--not necessarily we always had to pay. Sometimes, the seller had to pay it or pulled out of the good interest money.
They could just give me a piece of paper or two, tell me everybody that's involved, and where they're coming out of, because there were a couple of times where I saw there was a charge coming out of some other location, and that was some obscure fee that we had to go through this guy to get that kind of deal. A lot of that would probably have been easier had we all been able to sit down in one location and go over everything.
There were some errors the day before closing that we picked up out of the CDO, that had we all been able to just sit down and talk about it, we would have seen it. It was later explained to us it wasn't an error, but there was some miscommunication. It had us down for an interest rate of 4.75% and when we explained that we were gonna buy down to 4, which was the lowest we could buy down to, they said okay and that would be the rate we'd get on our closing document. The day before closing comes around, they said no and that needed to reflect what we were gonna buy it down to. Our Realtor called Ronald and they had a conversation. Towards the end, communication needs to be more, rather than less, as opposed to any other point in the process.
All of this was kinda new to me. It took me a while to wrap my head around that my interest rate was something that was locked in at that time whatever the market would say it would be, but I could only buy it down so much. I find that kind of ridiculous and that to me doesn't make any sense. That was never really explained to me why I couldn't do that. I had to go do my own research, which a lot of this was me doing my own research. They should be upfront and maybe have a brief explanation as to why I couldn't buy down past 4. But it was more of a pleasant experience than it could have been. The lender was very professional and really helped us through the process. All the comments I just made aside, they did actually a really good job, and we appreciate it.

I decided to give the online a shot with HomeDirect and I was very happy with it. The underwriting took three weeks which I thought was pretty fast. The gentleman I was working with was very responsive. I could get ahold of him, or if I left a message, he’d call me right back or email me. He had another guy that was helping him. They were asking for standard normal documentation, which as someone who's retired, I wasn't able to provide. I didn't have the $40,000 I needed in my checking account. I had to pull it out of my retirement account and put it in my checking account, but I wasn't able to provide a bank statement because I had to wait 30 days to get another one. The guys wouldn't accept a statement from my retirement account because that was not normal. Most people don't have access to retirement accounts, because they're not 59 and a half. So, to withdraw money out of my IRA or 401(k), I have to be over 59 and a half. Normally, most people can't use those accounts to qualify for the loan.
I said to the guy that I'm taking a $350,000 mortgage, and I got $3 million in the bank, and they tell me that I don't qualify. He said that I couldn't use that money. I told him that I could and they needed to go back and figure this out. They came back quickly and within the same day, they said that they would confirm and take it. HomeDirect was easy and they were right on the ball. I was very pleased with them.

That took another three weeks. Dave, the person I worked with, was easy to get a hold of and I felt very comfortable working with him. However, my realtor had problems getting reports back that we are good to go. While it wasn't Dave's fault, whoever he works with, my real estate person had trouble with them.
There could've been a little bit more communication as far as like what was needed and when it was needed. I kept getting emails saying that I had updates but every time I click on it, it wouldn't tell what the update was. Home Direct should clear emails that they're gonna be sending.
