I bought a 2003 Kia Sorento in 2005 with 17000k. I was very pleased with the vehicle up until Oct. 2009. I had 61,309k and was 2 hours from home in a very rural location, when my cam shaft went out. By the grace of God, I was able to drive it a few more miles into a town to a Ford dealer. The sound that this car was making was very scary. I had the car checked by the mechanic who said that it would take four to five thousand dollars to fix! The warranty only went 5 years or 60,000k. There was no warning, no check engine light, nothing! I had no one to call for a ride 2 hours away so I traded it that day for a Ford Edge (buy American!). I called Kia and although they sympathize with my situation, there is nothing that they can or will do! I wasn't asking for a new car. I wanted an explanation or something. All she said was, "I'm very sorry," and I said, "No, you're not or you would do something." I will never buy another Kia in my life. All I can say is buyer beware! They are good out of the gate but not much for stamina!

I bought a car half a year ago and 3 weeks ago, while I was driving, it stopped on the highway. I took it to the Kia service and the motor is damaged. The car had water and oil. I check it each day. To everybody I asked, the car is still under warranty and it has to be fixed by them. They try to make reasons that I was mistaken. This is not acceptable, a warranty is a warranty. It is not fair that they want to charge me around $4000, then I told them I have 6 cars bought for my own company from Kia. And I will upgrade this Kia Rio car to a better one and pay the difference. They offered me a very cheap price and screwed me more and more. What are they doing? Now we are the 3rd week and they just do not care. Is there a way to return all the cars and change the company or such big companies are careless? I need my car fixed as it is their mistake and the car is defective. Please help me.

We bought our 2005 Kia Rio brand new at the end of 2005. We were looking for a reliable car that was affordable and would have a great warranty. Famous last words. The salespeople really talked up the 100,000/10 year warranty so we got suckered in and bought it. At 38,000, the timing belt went out and seized up the engine, which meant the whole thing had to be replaced. It was $4,400 to replace. We had to moan, complain, fight and finally have our attorney friend threaten to sue them to have them cover it under warranty. They had the car for 10 days, under which they provided a rental car, only for us to get the rental bill of $350 later, after our car was fixed and returned. We never paid it since they had said it was on them.

Now we have had the Kia in the shop 3 times in the last month and half for the clutch. The first time they told us it was the cable out on it and we replaced it for $250. Two weeks later, it was acting up again. They replaced the shift mount and luckily didn't charge us as they said it was covered under the original work order. 10 days after that, the car can't be shifted at all and we had it towed back to Kia. Now they are saying it must be our problem because they "fixed" it the first two times. They said that they have to take the entire engine apart and the transmission out to determine the real problem causing this. They wanted us to authorize them to do this at $85/hour in labor, not knowing how long it was going to take.

I told them that this was a warranty issue and they said that they can't determine that until the car is taken apart and they determined the problem. So I am supposed to just authorize them to take it apart, pay the labor and just hope they cover it? Yeah right! Played this game before with them! So now they are going to take it apart, with us telling them we are not paying for any of it. They are not providing a car. They are trying to explain that the transmission and the engine (which was replaced at 38,000) shouldn't be covered because of high mileage. It is at 60,000, which still falls within their 10 year/100,000 miles, so what is the problem? We are gearing up for another full throttle fight to get them to pay for it. After all, it is the third time in 7 weeks it has been in the shop for the same problem.

Moral of the story: If you are reading this and considering a Kia, run, run, run. They are crap cars made by a crap company that knows nothing of backing up their cars or customer service.

My husband bought a 2003 Kia Sorento in January of 2007 from the Asheville Dodge dealership, which has now closed down. Since then, we have had the overflow tank cracked and had to be replaced. When it overheated, it cracked 2 hoses that had to be replaced as well. The dome light inside the car does not work, we have had to replace the headlight bulbs at least 5 times, the paint is chipping off the front bumper and the headlight bracket that holds the headlights on are cracked and do not hold the headlights in place well.

This month, the harmonic balancer bolt broke off, causing the car to stall, loss of power steering and very difficult to get off the road. After all the above problems and then this happening, we decided to call Kia to see if there was a recall on this particular problem. I come to find out there was. So great, we had the car towed to a Kia dealership to be repaired. Within the next 2 days, they called us back and told us that they will not pay to fix this problem because the recall is several years old and we did not get it in to them in a timely matter, and that it is our responsibility to call Kia anytime you buy a used car to see if there are any recalls.

The recall was before we bought the car and we were not told about it during purchase. We had no idea about it and never received any type of notice after the fact, letting us know that there was a recall. Not only that, they are telling us it will cost $2,900 to fix something that is Kia's problem. It's a recall that we knew nothing about so we should not have to pay for it. They assigned us a case worker named Michael, who was supposed to do what he could to get Kia to pay for this and came back and said there was nothing else he could do, we would just have to pay for it.

I have 2 children that I need this vehicle for daily transportation. This is a very big safety issue. What if I have been going down the interstate at 65 when this bolt decided to brake, for a problem that I should have known about in the beginning? I'm not asking for a new Kia or monetary offset, all I want is for Kia to pay to fix a Kia recall.

I was mailed a contest form by Kia automobile with a scratch off to see if I won a TV, vacation, or car. I went in to scan my contest form to see if I won anything. The salesperson told me I won a vacation and I asked him if I had to do anything, or was it a timeshare, or if there was a catch and he replied no. I was so excited to win a vacation. I came home to immediately log onto my computer to look up the hotel in which city I was going to choose for my free trip. I entered Ramada Resort Plaza and realized that there were many posts by consumers who said this was a scam. I am so angry. I thought since it was Kia and Ramada it was a legitimate trip because of the reputation of these businesses. This is fraud in its truest form. I want to sue Kia for sending out a scam contest and promising one thing and it is definitely what it represents.

This scam company now has my name, address, and telephone number since I had to provide my driver's license to the automobile Kia. I am disabled with fibromyalgia and any stress causes my disease to flare up and makes me extremely ill. I also feel violated and embarrassed to be scammed. My faith in legitimate business dealings is destroyed. Kia and Ramada are supposedly very reputable companies. I will never do business with Kia. I am absolutely devastated mentally and physically. I am terrified my personal information has been compromised. I do not feel safe. I am a single woman who lives by myself. This type of fraud must be stopped.

On September 7, 2009, our 2004 Kia Sorento (90,000 miles) started making a noise from the engine. It sounded like something had come loose inside the engine. We immediately had the vehicle towed to the dealer. After some investigation, the service department found that the induction relief valve had dislodged and was sucked into the engine through the intake. Apparently, this was an active recall item that Kia had issued in June 2009. This recall notice was never received. Only one recall notice (crankshaft pulley bolt) had been received since purchasing the Sorento new in 2004.

Kia agreed to repair the engine which included removing the heads and sending out to be machined. After the engine was rebuilt and started up, it still made a noise similar to the noise when taken to the dealer. After removing the heads again, it was discovered that the pistons were flaking apart. In order for Kia to perform any further repairs, they asked that I provide service and maintenance records for the past 5-1/2 years, so they could decide whether to rebuild the engine again or just replace it with a new short block. I provided very detailed records, and then was informed that Kia will not replace the engine and wants me to pay for further repairs (24 hours labor). So now we're at day 16 since the vehicle was towed to the dealer, and we're at an impasse.

I'm perplexed in that Kia was willing to repair the vehicle in the first place at no cost, but since it was discovered that the repair was not successful or was not performed correctly, or possible engine damage was missed during the initial diagnosis, they are now insisting that I pick up the tab. This seems wrong in so many ways that I can't even think about it without getting frustrated.

My story sounds the same as a few of the above. I bought my car brand-new in 2004 (normal 2004 Rio, not the Cinco) with 74000 miles. Later, my clutch broke, which is normal. Now at $78000, my timing belt broke, even though I inspected it and had the paperwork. I submitted it, and the KIA local parts rep named Audrey in San Jose, CA inspected it and refused to service it because of the paperwork. I told them (the auto shop that did the tuneup and checked my timing belt) that I requested my timing belt be inspected and since the paperwork had the word timing on it. I had been led to believe that it was.

Well, when I found out that Audry denied it, I called Bonnie (my 800 333 4 KIA rep who opened my case) to complain and investigate why they wouldn't accept my proof of inspection. A week passed by, and I called Bonnie again. The second time I spoke with her, she said that she couldn't reach them. That's why it was taking so long. So the next day, I called the dealership (Karl KIA). They said that they were on the phone with her coincidentally while I'm calling. 10 minutes later, Bonnie called me back and said two things: She said that my paperwork has nothing to do with the timing belt and that my timing belt was only covered for the 5-year warranty and that since it was an expired part that broke, it voided the powertrain warranty. I just bought this car in December 2004 brand-new and had followed the maintenance table as I was supposed to. For this vehicle's motor to break down at 80,000 miles is ridiculous.

So I called today to pay for the $130 diagnostic fee, since repairing the engine is not an option. But out of curiosity, I asked the service person on the phone (from the Karl Chevrolet dealership) if they had knowledge about KIA warranties since I had also checked the warranty info on the KIA Motors of America website. As it turned out, my representative from KIA had lied to me and the timing belt is included under the powertrain warranty according to the person.

We purchased a Kia Rio Cinco in 2004 with just 13 miles on it. We were confident that this would be a great commuter car for me because it is backed by such a powerful warranty, 10 years/100,000 mile powertrain; not to mention, we purchased an additional warranty from extra care as another just in case. My car has 78,000 miles on it and the engine blew due to a timing belt issue. I had my car service religiously and also had the belt changed, as per the owner's manual to validate the warranty.

Now that my car is at the dealership, they have denied the claim stating that the belt was never changed, when indeed the belt was changed in '08 with receipts to prove. This all started on Sunday and now it's Friday. It's really upsetting that when my husband went to the Kia dealership, they were willing to let us test drive a mini van for a couple of days to see if we wanted to buy? I cannot believe that it has taken this long for an answer not to mention that they are passing blame to our mechanic.

I purchased my 2008 Kia Rio5 in August of 2008.The car has been nothing but a nightmare since that time. I first started noticing a significant drop in my fuel mileage and loss of power after about a month of having the vehicle. I mentioned it to the dealer but I was informed that unless it throws fault codes or has a more pronounced problem, chances of being able to diagnose a complaint like that were slim. One month later, I went to start my car & it wouldn't fire up. After numerous attempts of cranking it, it finally started. I contacted Kia and they said not to worry about it unless it happens again.

Another month goes by and one morning, the check engine light comes up. I bring it in to the dealership and they tell me it requires a reprogramming update. All right, so that's all done & I leave. To make the story a bit shorter, it basically happens 3 more times after that. They keep blaming it on the reprogramming but advise me that my fault codes are for misfire. At this point, 7.5 months have gone by so we have a total of 4 incidents of the light coming on & reprogramming. The 5th time, this light came on flashing, derating the engine & I couldn't drive faster than 40 km. I shut the car off & restarted it.The light didn't flash and operated normally so I dropped it off at the dealership.

Flash forward almost 2 months, I finally got my car back from the dealership. During this time, I was given a courtesy car (I do have to give them that at least) and they resealed the cylinder head & block. I have my car back for not even 12 hours and the check engine light comes on again & derates. They take my car for almost another 2 weeks again (visit # 6), this time replacing the ECM. I was at the point where I was discussing a replacement vehicle with them, but the only solution they were giving me was owing them an additional $10,000 to get a new car.

Since they finally did do an actual replacement of a main component (the ECM) of the vehicle, I decided to give the vehicle one more chance. Two days later, I started my car & I'm guessing you know the outcome. I will be contacting Kia Canada today to place my complaint & depending on the outcome when I visit the dealership today (visit #7), I will be taking appropriate measures to get this dealt with, not only for myself but also for the satisfaction of other Kia consumers. I hope the management at Kia had a wonderful long weekend. It looks like they are going to have a terrible start to their week.

Car was bought brand new with the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty, always serviced by Kia Dealer. On the road to St. Petersburg, FL, the timing belt broke, jamming the pistons and ruining the engine. Mileage was 80,000 miles. Car was 7 years old. The service dealer said the repairs are not covered under the warranty because the timing belt was not replaced at 60,000 miles. At no time during all the years of the car being serviced at the dealership did anyone mention the timing belt needed to be replaced to keep the warranty.

Kia Corporate offices tell us the information about this timing belt requiring a change is in the owner's manual and (this is the kicker), the dealerships are not required to mention this to the owner. Awesome. Interestingly enough, two tow truck drivers stated that the car is not old enough or has enough mileage to warrant the timing belt to break. Even more awesome.

The brake rotors of the 2007 Kia Sorento we bought about 10 months ago are failing (only 22,000 miles). Every time we press the brakes, the wheel shakes (type of shimming). It turns out that the "bumper-to-bumper" warranty does not cover this, as the dealer claims it is "normal wear and tear". We have had at least 6 cars within the last 10 years, and none of them has shown this type of "wear and tear" at such an early stage. At this stage of the life of a car, you would expect to incur in the basic periodical maintenance expenses of a new car (oil changes, filter changes, various basic issues). However, this "normal wear and tear" as the dealer claims is going to cost us $485.

It took over a month to finally have them take a look at it since I had extended warranty. They changed the transmission with a small fee, then the motor died on me. The extended warranty did not cover all and it cost me over $800. Then the wheel bearing and whatever else with the tires, then the radio doesn't work which I didn't complain but then I mentioned that the clock flashed when I would put my signals on. They fixed that but still no radio. I can go on and on and on. Now the car is revving so high when I turn it on. It is the throttle or something like that.

The only reason we bought the car was because our old car was having problems and we expected that after 15 years. But we did not expect to have a car that cannot be repaired after only 2,000 miles.

No damage has resulted yet. But it will cause damage to the transmission due to early shifts and increase in the mileage of the car prematurely, as we also run the risk of getting speeding tickets. The service department told me it would be $240.00 for the service for the battery, telling me all she could go on was what was happening now. I have proof that the engine light was a matter last year.

At the time, I said I would bring the car back for service. While driving home, I noticed that my glasses was in the car and I started reading that I was told about my front tires and 30,000 miles service that was offered. I quickly called them and she said she offered the service to me, which never took place. My family member was outside the car and witnessed it. All she did was look at the mileage. I would have made an appointment for that if she would have told me of the situation. The two young ladies have a very nasty attitude and are very loud about it. There were two gentlemen before me that were there at the same time. This day was June 16, approximately 8-8:30AM. I heard them saying how nasty they are. I didn't witness their unprofessionalism until the time of picking up my car. I am still under warranty and would like to continue even after that. I will continue to take good care of my car. I am not neglecting services just to have record that this happened. I did see to it that I got the situation fixed. Very disrespectful to customers. Also, I have a voicemail focusing only on the battery.

I have a 2003 KIA Sorento. The crank bolt failed on me at 73132 km. This was covered under a recall. However, I had to have it towed to the dealer in Timmins at my expense of over $400 because it is an AWD, I needed it flat-bedded. I have the timing belt replaced at the same time, so I still end up spending $900 on this plus the tow. KIA gives me back $190. Big deal.

Now at 84655 km, the same crank bolt fails again, causing a dangerous situation on the highway at night with no power steering, etc., as the belts all fall off when this happens. I again eat the tow to a dealer, as I am 6 hours away from home. I spring $168.45 for a rental car for 4 days, plus I lose 2 days at work, which is $290.65.

12 days later, at 85750 km, the same damn thing happens. Luckily, I am a few blocks from home. Now I am contacting KIA Canada again as I right this. The dealer in Peterborough, who did the second repair, had a machine shop put in a Heli Coil to accept that bolt and stated that failing that, the entire crankshaft will have to be replaced! This job will have me without a vehicle for over a week guaranteed.

We purchased a 2009 Borrego ls 4x4. After signing the contracts we were told they would have it for us later that day. The one we wanted was having to be brought in from another dealership. Later that afternoon we received a call from Eli saying it would be the next morning before it would be ready. We agreed to wait until the next morning to get the vehicle.

When we got the call the following morning from Gurpep, the sales manager, he said they found a vehicle for us but it had gray leather interior and that it would cost us an additional $1200. We refused to pay for the upgrade and Gurpep said he'd call us back if he was able to work it out. A short while later he did in fact call us back and said he was able to get on shipped to us and it would be at the port on Monday and we would have it Monday afternoon. Then on Sunday afternoon, Eli called to tell us that the vehicle was being shipped to the port and that it would be 2 weeks before we'd get the vehicle.

I explained to Eli that they have already delayed in getting us a vehicle and that I would not wait for another 2 weeks. Not when I know for a fact the vehicle we want is sitting on another Kia dealership lot a few hours away. I know this because I called around myself to locate the vehicle. Which is what Gurpep said was one of my options. Eli then told me that "it is what it is".

So basically I was being told that what I wanted as a paying customer isn't important. I felt the promises made to me about being able to deliver my vehicle were all lies just to get me to buy the vehicle. Because as soon as I gave them a check for the $31,000, the excuses started. This isn't the first time I've bought from Kia, but it will be the last. The way this dealer represents the company is totally unprofessional.

After making the deal and while waiting on the contracts to be prepared, our salesman Eli started talking about car audio with me. After learning that I was once an installer, he began to ask questions about the problem he was having with his car and wanted my advice on how to fix it, he even went as far as to pull up the schematic for his vehicle (a 1998 Honda Civic I believe) and asked me to explain it to him. I offered him my advice, but when he called later that night to inform us that it would be the next morning before the car would be ready for delivery he once again asked about his car.

Eli even went as far as to ask if I would look at it for him the next morning when we came to get the new car. That, as a professional, should not have happened. It is unethical to ask clients for favors during the process of making a deal on a new car, which leads me to question the reasoning behind the dealership not being able to deliver the vehicle I paid for as promised.

On March 27, 2009, I had my 2001 KIA Rio towed into KIA, because after not being driven every day and sitting for a few months, everything locked up. Absolutely nothing worked. Before I had it towed, a friend of mine came over to look at it and determined that the 80amp fuse had blown (which is odd) and that definitely, the shifter going into the transmission was locked. At that point, he didn't want to get involved further because of the warranty that is still on the vehicle. I told KIA the 2 issues but also told them I wanted the car back up and running.

So after a week of having my car, they replaced the transmission (under warranty), replaced rear breaks & shoes, wheel cylinders and machined rear drums (not under warranty); replaced both inner and outer wheel bearings, clips and seals (under warranty), and machined front brake rotors (not under warranty); replaced all spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, and fuel filter; cleaned throttle body, oil change and filter; performed a complete fuel injection system cleanup; rotated and balanced tires; and changed all belts as the timing belt, ac belt, alternator belt (not under warranty) with a bill of $1500.00.

After all that, I picked up the car and my radio and AC still didn't work. I questioned them about that, and they said they could take it back in and rehook it up to diagnostic (for a fee) and see what the problem is. Yeah, I don't think so. A week later, I took my car to Best Buy to have them look at the radio (which they did fix). But they advised me that my 80amp fuse was blown. I then called KIA to let them know that they did not replace it as I asked them to with all the work they did. They then had to order the part, which they don't even know what that does.

in the mean time of waiting for the part to come in, my car started to make a clunking noise from the right front tire. I took it in to them, and they drove it and took it apart and said they couldn't come up with anything wrong. Everything was tight and there. But, the 80amp fuse had come in, so they did put that in for me.

On 4/20/09, the noise was still going strong, so I took it back to KIA, demanding they go with me for a test drive to hear the noise I keep hearing. After that, they determined it was the wheel bearing, so they replaced it. They had replaced it just on 3/27/09. I drove away, and all was fine until 4 days later when the noise started back. I then took it back to KIA, and then, they determined it was a warped front rotor, so they re-machined it again. They also did that back on 3/27/09.

I drove away again, and all was fine until 5/3/09 when the noise started back. At that point, I was fed up with KIA, so I took my car to another local mechanic. He took a look at it, not knowing any previous problems and determined it was the front rotor. He machined it, and I have not had a problem with it since. I just recently took my car back to my local mechanic to have the AC checked out, since after KIA, it didn't work; and he said it's electrical.

I also thought I was a having a muffler problem, and it turned out the humming was actually a wheel bearing. I called KIA this morning, 6/11/09, so that I could talk with someone about this issue because they said they don't have a corporate number. And after being disconnected and calling back, i was informed the general manager was in a meeting and he would call me back about this issue. It is not 5 1/2 hours later, and I still haven't heard a word. I want my car fixed and fixed right. I do not want to go back to the dealership that can't seem to fix my car.

As if that wasn't enough, last time they replaced the sensor, since I was there, I also changed my oil. One month later, I went to a different place to change my oil out of convenience and boy, am I glad I did. They found that Precision Kia had left the knob loose on my oil tank so I had been leaking oil for a month, but more astonishingly they left a foot-long LED work light next to my exhaust pipe. It was literally melting onto the pipe! When I called Precision Kia, the head manager of the service department didn't even return my calls. I called for three days straight before I was able to reach him and he told me "these things happen" and proceeded to be very rude and condescending. I still have a rubbery smell going through my car and I have missed a lot of work having to keep going to the dealer to get these O2 sensors replaced. I will never buy a Kia again!

We purchased a new KIA Sorento in 2005, and it currently has 51,000 miles. In October 2008 I had to replace the driver's side rear brake caliper and pads. In June 2009, I had to do the same with the passenger's side rear brakes. The caliper locks up and wears the pads. I have owned many vehicles and have never had to replace calipers and brakes after such a short period. I have a 32-year-old Ford pickup and have replaced one caliper during its life. I have made these repairs myself to save money plus the dealer that I purchased the vehicle from is no longer in business. Each repair has cost me about $150.

Another problem with this vehicle occurred almost from the beginning. For no apparent reason the battery will be completely dead after setting overnight. Our first thought was that we had left the lights on but that was not the problem. We even remove the keys from the ignition when parked. It will only do this a couple of time a year and has caused me to carry a spare battery in the rear to cover an emergency. The dealer could find nothing wrong. We love our KIA and we were ready to purchase another, but now I have my concerns. Does my 10year/100,000 miles warranty cover these costs?

So they reset the light, but after a while, it went back on. So now, it is my fuel cap. I bought a new cap and reset the light, which, again, came back on. Now, it needs plug wires. When I replaced the wires and reset the light, guess what? It came back on. We replaced the wires several times until we decided to check it ourselves. We found oil on top of the plug (bad valve cover gasket). Kia replaced that three times. I had to pay for plugs and coil packs. Now, the transmission has gone out and the horn doesn't work. The gears are stuck, the air bags don't deploy after being repaired (by Kia) and the axles have been replaced.

I took my son's 2004 KIA Spectra (purchased in 2005) to check a transmission problem (trying to lock between 0-32mph – a clunk sound). This just started. I checked the transmission fluid and everything looks okay, but the transmission is not good. I discussed the facts with Douglas, KIA employee (very kind person), and he said the dealer cannot honor the warranty because the car's transmission has never been serviced (36,000 miles according to manual).

The car has a little over 44,000 miles (half in freeway miles) in 4 years of ownership and I do the maintenance – checking all fluids and doing oil change every 3,000 miles (Mobil 1 - fully synthetic oil). The car has never been in an accident and is very well maintained. I admitted that I wasn't aware of the 36,000 miles service because I assumed it would be around 60,000 miles, as with American cars.

I don't believe the flushing would have prevented this malfunction. Otherwise, it would have given some skipping or other less abrupt signals, but not trying to lock itself. After 35 mph, the transmission does not give you any indication of malfunction. This condition is a defect and not improper maintenance. They are supposedly replacing the transmission and I will be charge for $1,900.

Late Oct. 2002, the wife and I bought a new 2003 Sorento. You have to admit it's a very good looking vehicle but 3 months later, every time I'd depress the brakes, the SUV would shake and bounce all over the road. I brought it to the KIA dealer. They said it was the rotors (to which they rotated) and it was fine for another 3 months. I went back and forth 3 times like that until I got furious and told them to change the rotors on the brakes, and they finally did. You have to get totally belligerent with them for any action to be taken. (Their mechanics are KIA-certified but would rather work on American cars as I noticed a while back.)

It takes forever to get anything done as they are all gathered around American cars instead on working on the products that they've sold. Another thing for the past 2 years, I have went through 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (thank God, they had a recall on it a while back) and the car has been at the dealer for three days now and they will not give you a loner or rent a car. The 10-year warranty on KIA is false advertisement as it ends after 5 years when it becomes powertrain only. The weekend is here and that leaves me stranded for 6 days, or let's hope that they have the problem fixed on Monday.

The dealership has been okay to work with. My complaint is that I have had my car into the shop 5 times for the lights. 4 out of the 5 times, I have had to pay for the light bulbs that were put into my car, only to find out at a later date there was a grounding problem and then the wiring harness under the headlight that was making the lights go out. This last time I took it in, I had it in on a Friday, parked it in my drive way and did not drive it until Tuesday morning and the fog light still did not work. They told me it was unplugged and they fixed it. I returned it the next morning and then I was told that the light socket was bad and it is just normal for when the car bounces around.

I have been very frustrated with my car and the lights on it. I bought the car less than three years ago and did not expect to have such problems with the car. I want the money refunded to me for any bulbs that I have paid for or I will be taking this to the next step. Please make note that I have filed this complaint about the car and not the new car sales manager at Bob Sight Kia. I just wanted to be treated fair and receive the services that I paid for when purchasing the car. I paid for an extended warranty and it doesn't seem to cover the little items that I was told it would cover. These light bulbs have not been normal wear and tear on my car. Five times in the shop for the same thing is unacceptable.

The other sad thing is there are four other people in my family that have purchased Kias and we are very disappointed in the quality that I have had with my car. I do not want an attorney to contact me about my complaint. I have my own. I just want this on my record of my car that Kia is aware of what is gong on. I have not had any work done on my car at any other shop since I bought it. I had the Kia dealership do all of the work on my car just for this reason. Thank you!

As of May 22, 2008, I bought my Kia Spectra. And two weeks later, I started to have problems with it. The check engine light came on, but they found nothing wrong with it. Then 5 months after I bought it, it stalled on me in traffic. Then in November of 08, I noticed the brakes were very weak. And I took it to Kia but they found nothing wrong again. Well, in December of '08, I had 250 yards in front of me and the guy slammed on his brakes so I did the same. I had the brake pedal all the way down to the floor and it was not slowing down at all. So I pulled up on the e-brake and with the two pulled up and, in all that distance, I only slowed down to 30.

I hit him and I could not believe it did not slow down. Never has that ever happened to me. On top of that, the air bags did not deploy; not one of my six air bags deployed. As well as my seat belt, it did not lock up. I was tossed into the wheel as well as my wipers do not work right. They will stop in the middle of the window. It is not safe to have to worry about being able to see the road. This and everything else I am going to list has happened after I bought the car.

My AC stopped working in April of 09. This black mat that was to be on the upper inside of the hood was laying on my eng. My tranny shifts very rough but the dealer just was like whatever. My brakes don't always work right; sometimes they are firm and other times, more often than not, I might as well not even have brakes. My car has stalled on me from the second week. I had it till just last week. The check engine light comes on often and, when it does, the car is very rough and does not want to run smooth at all. But then, it goes off just like it came on without a warning. And then the other day, my car stalled in traffic and I almost had another crash from this car going south on me. It is only 12 months old. And I had to replace a bolt in my seat; it came out of the floor.

I had 3 kids, 3 cats and a dog with me. First, I couldn't get any help from roadside assistance because it was May 24 weekend, so when I did get help, they towed it to Corner Brook. I had to find my way to a hotel, pay for it and then find a way to get to my Sorento, which is hours away. It was the pulley gone. When that was fixed, it worked fine for about a year besides the headlights. We go through way too many of them. So now, a year is up. We are having all kinds of trouble with its engine, light comes and goes, and to turn on the wipers, you have to turn on the heated set button. It says that a door is open, the dash lights blink off and on and much, much more wrong with it.

I never bought it here in Newfoundland. They put me on the back burner. Well, it picked a bad time to breakdown. They even told me to bring it back to where I bought it in Halifax. I asked them if they were going to pay for my way up there. So now with all this trouble, I have 100,000 now and they are saying that it was sunk in the water. Come off it, I still have extended warranty on it but they won't look at it. They told me to bring it home, park it in the yard and let it rot. And if I got a backyard mechanic to look at the warranty is void. Well, somebody has to fix it for me. I have nothing else to drive, nowhere to turn.

As a result of this, our timing belt went and the engine is now toast. We live an hour out of town in the middle of the Yukon wilderness. There is very little traffic and lots of bears. In the spring, we walked. We called and made a complaint and we were told that warranty expired, too bad. We called a second time to the head office in Canada and were told they spoke to dealer, warranty expired, too bad. This is not good enough.

We have 1 dealer and have to rely on them for service. I have purchased over $100,000 in Kia vehicles over the past 8 years and none of this was taken into consideration. There was just the answer, "We're sorry, it's past warranty; too bad." We took the car in like we were supposed to do for all warranty work, for all problems encountered, no matter how small, and always paid the bill, never collecting on warranty. Now, to be told too bad, leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. They are not servicing properly, allowing warranty to expire and then forcing people to deal with the consequences themselves.

I would love to hear from others who have had similar timing belt experiences or other similar experiences, period, and get an open forum discussion going concerning a class action suit.

My brother was involved in an accident with his 2001 Kia Spectra about 2 weeks ago. He was stopped at a red light when a Chevy Cobalt hit him in the rear traveling somewhere between 30 and 40 mph. His car was forced into a Chevy Silverado that was in front of him totaling the car from the front and rear. The impact was so severe that the front bumper broke in half and pushed through the radiator all the way into the engine past the wheel wells along with the hood, fenders, and everything else that was attached to the car. The rear trunk lid, rear side panels, were pushed in all the way to the rear wheel wells. The impact caused the exhaust (muffler and tailpipe), brake lights and rear bumper to fall off the car. It broke the driver's seat in the backward position, never to be moved up again. The air bags never went off. He was lucky to escape with his life. Injuries are still yet to be determined.

Kia said that the car's front end was hit too low for the airbags to go off. There isn't a front end on the car anymore. Why are there all these complaints about this car and KIA and nothing is being done? I personally think that someone needs to arrange a class action lawsuit before someone gets killed. Why does Kia even put the airbags in their cars? Just to say that they have them? They don't work!

After several visits to the dealership, they said the problem had been fixed. Within a week, the problem was back again. This happened for the period of one year - going to various Kia dealerships in Newfoundland and Labrador, and then to the one in Grande Prairie. I have paid money out because they said there was "no problem found" with the car. Finally, in April of 2009, the trouble with the transmission was diagnosed. They said they would order a whole new one in, but they were on back order for the time being. The client was advised that it was okay to drive the car.

On the 25th of April, the check engine began blinking. As a technician advised, I did not drive the car after this problem. They will not do anything for me, as the car is not able to be used, and I am still making payments on this vehicle which will be 2 years old on April 30. I took it to Tire Place, had them switch out the rims, etc. back to stock and it still was engaging. By then, the dealership said my warranty was up because I was just over 60k. I told them that it wasn't when I brought it in originally and they misdiagnosed it. They claimed that they did not misdiagnose and it was the rims. I called Kia; they did nothing to help and although I thought I had a 100k warranty and all outstanding evidence, they would not honor it.

Now at 68k, I have a head gasket out, straight exhaust gas coming in, cooling system, etc. and still the 4-wheel-drive engaging problem and they won't adjust the warranty or do anything. They are horrible; they don't care about people. Now, I have a car I owe $10K on and can't afford the $3k to fix it. What to do now? Someone would have warned me about Kia. The auto service center said the warranty should be adjusted because it is not supposed to happen on a car with that low of miles and, of course, Kia once again won't honor anything nor do they care; they don't have to right it.

this is a company car, 2006 kia spectra, the second one i've driven. the first was totaled in a low speed accident in which no air bags were deployed. that car ran great and never gave me any issues. now i am driving allegedly the exact same car, and this one has been a nightmare since the beginning of my association with it. from the start, the speedometer has only worked intermittently. i have repeatedly brought it to various kia dealerships only to be told that there is no problem, or that it cannot be reproduced. once the car was in the shop for 3 days before they could tell me that. am i lying about this problem? am i just looking forward to the privilege of not being able to work for 3 days while they do nothing to my car?
how &$%& hard is it to figure out what the problem SHOULD be, and fix THAT? i also told them that the transmission is failing. in comparison to the other car, the difference is quite clear. gas mileage is far worse than it was in the first kia spectra. cannot reproduce issue cannot reproduce issue cannot reproduce issue the driver side turn signal blinks very fast, the way it would if a bulb was out. no bulb is out. clearly a wiring issue of some sort, right? not so, according to the brilliant technicians at kia. no, someone had installed the wrong bulb, i was told, and they fixed that- incidentally fixing nothing, as the problem persists. I FIND THIS ALL VERY OFFENSIVE AND SO FAR I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO ACHIEVE ANY SORT OF SATISFACTION CONCERNING THESE ISSUES. if i had only ever driven the first kia, i would happily have recommended them to anyone. now after dealing with kia customer service, i never would.

It was foggy and this young man cut in front of her and she hit him broad side at about 45 miles an hour. The front end of the car is smashed in and with all the damage to the car the air bags in the car never deployed and her seat belt did not hold her back resulting in her face hitting the steering wheel. Fortunately she suffered no cuts but her face is quite swollen on the right side from the impact. Her right wrist is also swollen as a result of tring to brace herself from the impact. We are not quite sure as to the extent of the damage to her wrist as we have to await the swelling and tenderness to abate. Along with these injuries her left knee jammed into the dash as well. I guess we should be thankful that it was not worse. I have pictures of the car should anyone be interested in seeing them. But I would caution anyone who is buying a Kia......I would hate for anyone to learn this lesson the way we have......John in Picayune,MS

They originally thought that it was a fuel system problem and replaced oxygen sensors and cleaned the system front to back. The last time it was in the shop they said that the wiring to one of the sensors had gotten moisture in it and they dried it, sealed it up, and reset the computer for the error code. We have since noticed that it reliably fails when it is or has been raining. It is in the shop yet again, the fourth time in four months, for a running total of over 30 days. This time, they claim they cannot make it fail, although they have had the car for four business days and it has rained. Over the last 5 years I have had to take it in for various reapirs covered under warranty...wheel bearings, control arm (just to name a few) and in April 2008 I had to have my transmission replaced. I was shocked that a car with only 80,000 km on it would need a new transmission. I asked the dealership why and they had no answers, just that it had to be done and it was covered under warrnanty. I was relieved at that. In Dec. 2008 my warranty on the vehicle expired. On February 9, 2009 my vehicle broke down on the way to the dealership. I knew something was wrong with it. Turns out it is the transmission and ONCE AGAIN I need a new transmission!!! So, the one they put in April 2008 has failed me before it meets 1 year. Kia states that they do not offer any kid of extended warranty on parts replaced in your car during warranty. So, essentially they are telling me I have to pay for a new transmission. It makes me wonder if they even put a new transmission in my car last year in the first place? or what kind of shotty job they did that made this transmission fail?
I am in shock and awe at the horrible customer service, not to mention deplorable car manufacturing. I would NEVER recommend anyone to buy a KIA, it's like a slow death sentence. I am currently in the process of dealing with Kia Canada over the phone, as I will not give up my fight against them. However I am aware that they will most likely not help me or take any accoutability for putting a faulty part in my car. After taking possession of the vehicle, I noticed it pulled to the left when driving and took it back to the dealership on June 07, 2007 and they did a front end alignment. After driving a few days it started pulling to the left again, so on June 14, 2007, I took it back a second time and they did another front end alignment. I drove it a few more days and it started pulling to the left again, so on June 20, 2007, I took it back a third time and once again they did a front end alignment. This car was back to the Dealership three times in less than a month after I bought it for the same thing.
Since that time this car has been back to the Dealership no less than a dozen times for the very same thing and has been aligned no less than nine times, the last time being January 13, 2009. It has been seen by 2 KIA Regional representatives who drove the car for a few minutes and for a short distance and determined that nothing was wrong with the car and it was my driving and the road that caused the vehicle to drift left when driving. I have had the Salesman and the mechanic in the vehicle while I was driving and the both have seen what it does. I have been driving for no less than 35 years, and I just happened to be the State Inspector Sr. who oversees and inspects all road construction fazes to assure all the Specifications of construction are followed in the Fredericksburg District. So it is not my driving or the roads I drive on. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle and will not drive it if it rains or snows because I am afraid it will put me of the left side of the road and into trees and even on coming traffic. I have asked KIA to replace the vehicle, and they refuse, I have asked the Dealership to step in and do something all to no avail. I now ask for your help. This vehicle is unsafe to drive under any conditions and certainly meets the Lemon Laws. The car had 24 miles on it when I bought it and it now has 20,000. The Dealership did offer to trade it in at a $5000.00 loss to myself and sell me another vehicle at a higher price. I can not see taking a loss on a vehicle that has been a problem since the day I bought it and I should not be expected to. All I ask is for a replacement for the one I have. Please help, Michael R. I don't feel safe in this car anymore and don't feel like I should be held to my contract and continue paying for a car that is defective. The car kept cutting off and stopping while in motion which could have caused an accident as well as leaking gas. So if anyone would have thrown a lit cigarette, my car would have exploded.

The car is now being repaired, but how much damage has been done to other areas of the car since the tank had holes in it? I am sure debris and other things like water have gotten into the lines of the car and affected it in a bad way. So it is a matter of time before something else goes bad. Upon returning to pick up my car he told me that everything was in order. At 120,000 KMS the timing belt broke and destroyed the engine which is going to cost me $2,100.00 to rebuild or $ 4,300.00 to replace. I talked to the new service manager named Mr Thembo and he told me that the timing belt had not been changed and this is what caused the engine to blow up. He took me to the Main Manager whom i could not get his name from anyone working there. He asked why the timing belt had not been changed when it was due and Mr Thembo told him that not everyone wanted the timing belt changed at 70,000 KMS because of the expense. This infuriated the Korean Manager and i was told he would look into the situation. One week later I was told by Thembo that KIA was not responsible in any way for the damage to my engine. 18mths later car died on hyway 30m miles from home. Took it to CentralKIA. Found out it was camshaft broke. Reason given by KIA mechanic at that time "Because you didn't change oil enough". Paid over 1500 to repair it. Less than mile from dealership, car died again. Took it in and found out the mechanics didn't repair it right. Car had to be repaired all over again...with new equipement. When tried to get my moeny back, since didn't repair car properly first time, was told would not get refunded. Was now out for over 1500 for work not done properly and no car. Car repaired, after over a month total from when car ruined by camshaft. Car didn't run right after. Took in to KIA once and told them car would start up first time, but if had to stop at store, etc..car had trouble restarting, unless was over 20 mins sitting. Was told nothing wrong with car. Two weeks after repaired the windshield fluid would not work, even when filled. Took car down to North of Huoston. Car died 60 miles appx from Huoston. Car towed to Palmer KIA in BryantTX, the closest KIA from where it died. Had to stay all night with car, due to no funds for hotel room and no transportaion. When next morning arrrived (Saturday)found out no way to rent a replacemnt vehicle and unable to rent a car due to home was in Dallas, TX. Had to get ride home. Found out it was the TimingBelt, something that was changed when car repaired after put in wrong only two and a half years ago, and had less thanm 60,000 miles on it. Called to have CentralKIA fax work done on car from them. Was told they purged all my records ,because been over two years since car in to the dealership - due to refusing to let KIA work on my car after almost destryed it. No way to prove it was under warranty. Cost to repair over 2000. Car engine ruined Bryan, TX KIA mechanic tells me. Better to write it off. I call both CentralKIA and Costumer Service of KIA to get replacement vehicle to get my car to my home town (Dallas) or to have transported to Dallas,TX from South,TX (near Huoston). I am told No. That I must get my dead car itself. My car is almost 200 hundreds miles away. Have NO way to get to car or to transport a dead car, with car fee for storage added on to it, since wont be repaired.

I later found out that my husband couldn't open it we took it to our mechanic he said u need special tools for this car we had to pay him plus kia price to replace is ridicuolus $45.up. My temparature doesnt work and my inside light went out a month later. in 2008 my car started to shake violently in the rear. My husband said sounds like the differential.Called 24 hr. roadside they picked up the car adrian the mechanic supervisor was no help he called told me to pick up the car no problems were found. I couldnt believe it. Well, im still driving the car under these horrific circumstances. My car had new front brake and tires put on and after 1 month a knocking noise in the front wheel came on. Took it in and I was told the alignment or some piece had broken the car. Was there for over a week. The same problem or similar problem happened again and they keep the car for a week. Also my left side step rail was replace after months.

Now my car has a very loud noise when i turn left. I took it to get checked at the service center in san leandro, ca and was told the bracket had a crack and the part is out of warranty so they will not replace it . I am not sure why they won't replace, if it was replaced once shouldn't the warranty extend from the last repair?

Let me begin by saying, DO NOT BUY ANY KIA PRODUCTS! I have a Kia Rio 2003 that I bought in early 2004 with 21 miles on it. I bought the vehicle because of the 100,000/10 yrs warranty it had. I thought WOW! This is a good deal. Boy was I mistaken. It turn out that I had been driving my Kia for about a year and the clutch went out on it - I could not drive it at all. I towed the vehicle to the dealership, and said they should fix it - after all it has a "bumper to bumper" warranty still. The service dept. told me that the clutch was not covered under the "bumper to bumper" warranty. I said, it's called "bumper to bumper" so obviously it's covered sir. “Well no, technically the clutch is considered normal wear and tear and is not covered just like the tires”, he said. I was so mad. I spoke to the manager. He said the very same thing I ended up leaving and fixing my car at another place.

My car now has 69,000 miles. I was driving it to the local supermarket when it stops in the middle of a busy intersection. It would not turn on at all. I was almost hit by several cars, after pushing the car an agonizing 1/4 of a mile to the nearest parking lot. I called the roadside assistance to get my car towed to the dealership. As soon as I got there I told them what had happened and one of the mechanics of the service dept. told me that it sounded like it was the engine had stalled. I said good - it is covered by the 100,000 miles/10yrs warranty. He said yes and no. Yes the engine is covered under that warranty, but if the timing belt caused the engine to stall then it is not, because the timing belt is not considered powertrain; it is considered regular wear and tear. You can imagine how I must have felt.

I kept arguing with the man for about an hour, and I said “Well how do you know it was the timing belt? Do you have x-ray vision or something?” He said that he could check the car for me but it was going to cost me $95, but he was more than sure that it was the timing belt that had slipped causing the engine to stall. I was very mad at this point and I towed my car back home, because he said it would cost me about $2000 to fix a car for which I still owe money, and it’s not even worth the metal they used to build it. So now I have a 2003 Kia Rio with 69,000 miles on it under a tree rotting away and still paying for it. GOOD LUCK if you plan on buying one. 100,000 miles/10 yrs warranty my **. I looked into what Kia considers powertrain and this is what I found in their website under warranties. This is straight from the website.

The items covered by the Power Train Limited Warranty include: In the Engine: Cylinder block, cylinder head and all internal parts, timing gear, seals and gaskets, valve cover, flywheel, oil pump, water pump. In the Transaxle: Transmission case and all internal parts, torque converter, drive shafts, universal joints, front hubs, bearings, seals and gaskets. In the Axles: Axle shafts and C-V joints (couplings), seals, hub and wheel bearings. In the Transmission: Transmission case, transfer case, torque converter and all internal parts, seals, and gaskets. In the Differentials: Front and rear differential assemblies, cases, all internal parts, seals and gaskets. In the Propeller Shafts: Drive shafts, universal joints... So then I ask, why wasn't my car fixed if it fell under the specifications of their stupid warranty? The answer is THEY'RE CHEAP! CHEATING, LYING, DECEIVING, MISLEADING, CONNIVING PEOPLE. I'll say this one last time. DO NOT BUY ANY KIA PRODUCTS!!!!

The dealership took the car and called us the next day to say it was fixed that there was a hole in hose. Within an hour of again leaving the dealership the car died again while driving. They again took the car in and returned it 2 days later stated it was repaired. One day later the car again dies will at a red light and again while driving. The dealership again took the vehicle in and sent it to a Kia dealership to be fixed. They replaced the throttle sensor and said it was fixed. 2 days later the Kia dies again while turning into oncoming traffic. The Kia goes back to the Kia dealership. This time they replace the fuel pump and fuel tank sensor and give back to me as repaired.

The car drives okay for approx 40 days then again dies while sitting idol. The Kia dealership checks everything. States not much they can do since the check engine light does not come on and everything checks out. They do state the fuel pump relay is not sealing properly and reseal and return as repaired. On the way home from picking up the vehicle it dies while driving 3 times (approx 15 mile drive). As of today the 16th the unit is back at the Kia dealership and we are again waiting for the call that it has been repaired. I purchased used but what are my rights?

My husband bought me a brand new 2005 Kia Sedona mini van, fully loaded. I say this because the more you have on a Kia, the more there is to go wrong. My van has just been picked up and taken to the dealership on a roll back tow truck. This will be trip number 16 since we have bought this van that only has 33,000 miles on it. The problems started 3 weeks after we bought it. I have had 6 DVD players, a new ac compressor, new speedometer, in 6 times for the front brakes that still are not fixed, malfunctioning alarm system, malfunctioning remote start, battery discharging problem, door locks sticking, transmission slipping and now a whistling then a pop and the smell of something burning with my 4 kids in the van on the way to school.

The only good thing I can say is that the road side assistance got a tow truck to me in about 20 min. But guess what, I have 4 kids, 1 mini van and the dealer does not pay for a rental. So now I have to figure out how to get my kids to school again because my fully loaded hunk of junk can't do what it was bought for: carry my children safely where they need to go. So much for trying to the best for your family because Kia doesn't care that I carry 4 kids around in that vehicle and I can't afford to keep paying for a rental and we did all we could to pay off our van in a year. If I knew it was going to keep breaking down, we should have let them repo it. We would have been better off.

Don't count on the Lemon Law because it is not set up for the consumer at all, it is just a false sense of security that until you try to use it, we think is there to protect us. Huh, what a joke. And the people they call master techs, what a joke. I wouldn't want some of those guys cleaning my yard, let alone fixing a car that I put my children in. I have been lied to, deceived, told things were fixed when they were not and let's not forget my time and frustration from having to deal with people who don't care about the safety and well being of me and my children. The only funny thing about my Kia is the joke that my tow truck driver told me that Kia stood for killed in action. These issues has caused me stress, rental vehicles inconvenience.

The plastic headlight has a spring to hold the bulb in place. When I tried to reset the spring, the plastic holding the pivot side of the spring broke. I brought it to the attention of the service manager Heidi. She told me that even if it was a manufacturer's defect, it broke while I was doing my own repairs so I have to pay the outrageous price of 200+ for a new headlight assembly. It is unreasonable to expect someone to bring their vehicle to a dealer to replace a 10 dollar part. Let's say for example, if the police had stopped me and I had only 24 hrs to replace my burnt out light or pay a hefty fine, how would I have time to bring it to the dealer since it takes a week to get an appointment? All I want is for them to acknowledge the part was defective and replace it.

The damage to my car did not look that bad. The hood was dented in and the Kia logo on my grill was pushed into my radiator, but nothing serious. I took the car to the dealership where I bought it, (Bradenton, Fla.) They fixed it, and I got it back a month later. The job they did was mediocre at best. Within a week I noticed that the airr conditioning wasn't working correctly. When turned on, it made a loud, almost screaming sound and wou7ld blow hot air. The car was back in the dealership 4 times in about 2 months. They kept saying that they couldn't find any problems. On the fifth time the car was brought in, I told them that I had notified the better business bureau about this problem and suddenly the car was fixed. Since then, I have moved to Delaware and havebeen experiencing transmission problems. I have had the car in the kia dealership in New Castle County 4 times (they only remeber 3) and they can't seem to find any problems. My transmission is sticking badly and each time it's worse. I'm scared that I'm going to be killed in this car. This morning on my way to work was the worst incident yet. I was on the highway and with no warning the car would not change gears. The dealership picked up the car checked it out? and called us back in two days. They told us that the car was out of oil. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt but that was a flat out lie. The oil was checked before the tow truck took it. The car was full of oil and there were not oil spots in the drive way.

The person at the dealership had said that whoever changed the oil last did not tighten the oil plug on the bottom of the car. My husband changed the oil last and as I had said there was no oil on the drive way. We were told it would be about $6200 for an engine and $2000 for labor. We bought the Rondo because we have children and needed an ECONOMICAL car. Needless to say that amount of money is absurd! The problem should be fixed under warranty.

After towing the car back to our home at our expense and paying for the diagnostic fee at the dealer ship, we now have a car that we cannot drive and surprisingly the day after we brought the car home there is an oil spot in our driveway. Someone had loosened the oil screw. Kia does not seem to be customer friendly to me. Good Luck if you buy a Kia I have reports of others that have had similar problems.

We are a family of 5 that has a brand new Kia Rondo sitting in our drive way that we are making car payments and insurance payments on that we cannot drive because we cannot afford to get it fixed. Kia customer service (Richard) told us that they have to take the word of the dealership. We bought the new Rondo because we needed reliable transportation. HA. My wife and I recently bought a brand new Kia Rondo with 18 miles on it. We paid cash for the vehicle in order to avoid expensive interest payments. While driving the car home for the first time my wife noticed that the windows make a whistling noise like the window is cracked open. Any time the vehicle is driven over 30 mph the noise can be heard. The very next day my wife made an appointment to have it looked at. The dealership couldn't tell what was wrong with it so they opened a case with Kia.

After 3 months of going back and forth with the dealership and Kia they told us that the noise wasn't a defect but part a characteristic of the model and that it is not a substantial impairment to the value, safety, or use. The brochure on the Rondo claims that the Rondo is equipped with a range of structural and technological refinements that reduce cabin noise and road vibration to deliver a quiet ride. I can hear the wind noise over the radio.

Needless to say my wife and I are very upset. My wife hates the car that we bought for her to drive. We are concerned because they can't determine what is causing the noise. We also have two children under two and the recent link between Autism and white noise makes us fearful of placing them in the car.

I feel that this seriously effects the resale value of the car. It also could have long lasting effects on our childerens development and hearing due to the high pitch and decible level.

We bought a 2004 kia sorento at a local ford dealership in 2006 we bought an extended warranty from ford along with the remainder of the bumper to bumper it allready had. We had dorve the vehicle for about a month and then the interior lights and dash lights kept going on and off and the shifting was not right it was not shifting in to first gear when it was first started. Took it to laurel ford kia and they said they found nothing wrong it they suggested I need to learn how to shift a manual. Thats quiet funny since the first car I learned to drive was a shift.

I asked if they had switched on the head lights they said no what for and I said how are you going to be able to see the dash and interior lights go off if you dont have them on? Then they turned them on and saw what I was talking about. They would have to order a relay switch then after they had not called 2 weeks later I called them and they said they had the part set up a time bring it in and I brought it in and then they had the wrong part ( I had been sitting in a waiting room for around 3 hours with 3 kids). They would call me when the new part came in. After another 2 weeks I called them they had ordered the wrong part again.

I decided they were very incompent so I took it to another kia dealer. They told me that did not think kia would cover it since I was now past my bumper to bumper warranty but kia did and they said they fixed it at this same time I had informed them that it was hard to shift so they checked that said my clutch cable was bad and when test driving the vehicle they noticed a roar in the rear end. They contacted my extended warranty and approved the repairs it was there in the shop for a month. Then when I finally got it back. We decided to stop to eat and noticed that steam was pouring out from under the hood. They had left something off and we had to go right back.

Then my check engine light came on they reset it and before I got next door the light had came back on. I did not have time to take it back right then but called the next week and took it back in I also told them the shifting was even worse than before and they checked that and said now my clutch plate was worn out. I got it back this time and got home noticed the check engine light was back on then a piece broke off the radiator and now we had to have a new radiator and resivor, not to mention the windshild washer fluid would not come out.In all it spent around two and a half months and check engine light never was fixed they said nothing was wrong with it lol, and close to 6 thousand dollars in repairs.

On top of that the vehicle was wrecked (hydro planed and fliped several times) the air bags never off the kia ended up upside down and hit a very big tree and the side air bags never opened and the passanger door came open the occupants were very lucky they had deep cuts on arms and head hit the windows breaking both of them out. Physical damages were head injuries, cuts, and bruises. Economic was insurance deductables, out of pocket cost, along with time lost.

DO NOT BUY KIA! If you own a Kia and are having problems with it, PLEASE take the time to report it to the following websites: and to the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov and to www.autosafety.org. This the only way we can get Kia to be accountable. I have had nothing but problem after problem since purchasing my 2004 Kia Sorento EX new. Most recently my transfer case failed. A new one would have been $4,000.00! A used one would be $1500.00 to $2500.00. I had my nephew take the transfer case out for me and his father replaced the chain. The only place to get the chain from was directly from a Kia Dealership. It costed $309.00! According to a tranny tech this is a mark-up of $270.00!

Other problems I have experienced with this vehicle consist of rust on the tailgate and rear doors just a few months after purchasing, all kinds of electrical problems from headlights and tail lights burning out numerous times, the digital dash for radio and heater going black, the heater not work, a relay swith for fan failed, foam between windshield and frame coming out tapping on the window, a problem with the coolant reservoir, the rear driveshaft failed, the transmission had to be replaced and most recently the transfer case. Safety issues and concerns would be with tail lights and headlights burning out prematurely and frequently and the crankshaft bolt broke causing to loose all ability to steer the vehicle.

I have dealt with the dealership, with Kia Motors, Inc., the Attorney General's Office, taken them to Concilliation Court, written to senators and representatives, etc. All has failed for me. Today I made complaints on the websites I listed above. Hopefully, SOMEONE will help all the Kia owners that are stressed, frustrated, endured financial losses, lost work time, and possibly had safety concerns/issues due to Kia selling defective vehicles. Any suggestions?

Im sure of this, i am being violated by KIA not complying with their warranty. I towed the vehicle in on Thursday because of internal engine problems. Well Brit Hirting of the BIG BELL ROAD KIA, has the nerve to tell me that he doesn't want to waste his time looking at it because there is no oil in the engine and that its my fault. Then gets stern with me demanding a two history report. Well i faxed it to him. He is well aware that the engine has failed back in FEB 2007 less then 13K miles ago, but still demands a two year history report. Ok then so i faxed it while i was on the phone with him. This is what i don't understand, he is assuming things just looking at the car himself. He has technicians that are paid to diagnose problems so they can fix it. He is taking initiative on himself to look at it with no credentials. On top of that, then has the nerve to tell me he gave me an hours worht of labor time looking at it, but all he did was pull the car in, drain the oil, and pull the car out. Wait a minute, BRIT, you told me there was no oil in the engine, no you are telling me there is a 1 1/2qt of oil?

They don't offer a loaner vehicle program at all, nor do they compensate expenses used on my part for further transportation. My intention of buying this car was the patented warranty, that has been disclosed to me the first time my engine failed that you have to be the orignal owner. I bought a vehicle so i can independently transport myself for personal reasons, work, and just maintenance services. Now i live in Cave Creek, and they know that. There is no city transit in my area. The closest one to me is on Tatum & Deer Valley, right next to the DESERT RIDGE MALL. SO that means, i need a cab to get down there to just take a bus. Well my job is around the valley, i don't take the bus, thus far me buying this vehicle because of the circumstances. No i have to shell out more money for transportation, meanwhile still making payments on the car that they don't want to waste their time.

Unfortunately, if you would to contact them, its like putting a fire under their butts. I want more than just the satisfaction of my warranty. They are putting a damper, real stress on me. Not only its affecting me, but family and friends to rely on rides, putting a damper on the relationshi because i have to rely on them. My work, because my boss lives down in Queen Creek and once and awhile we get jobs up here in my area, but most of them are down by Gilbert. He is worried to make appointments and not follow through with because i don't know i can get a ride or borrow someones car to get down there.

How can i take care of my life when i have something i took for granted because i was covered under a 'WARRANTY' and in the mist of an actual problem that they try to pin it on the consumer. So if i was a female in this position with knowledge, they would of taken advatage of that. You see where i am getting at? Is there consumer laws against this, especially a dealership that doesn't back up their own warranty from defect, like internal damge to an engine to actually give me a loaner car? The first time they did the rebuild of the small block, i still didn't get a car and to rely on people then, just like i am presently. Please contact me, because i might have to make decisions, that might not be best judgement on my behalf.

My car has about $8K on the lien with my bank, and its just sitting at the dealership as a paper wieght still under amnufacturers warranty. Its a 2004 and it has about 53K on the odemeter, but 13K on the rebuit small block. Im in a position that KIA put me in and how can i get out of that and still make affordable payments to survivie in this crap economy? Its shows its getting better, but both you and i know that looks are deceiving and never know what the honest truth. I don't know if it is a reflective of our economy, but i would have known to have repeat business and a reputation that they would be taking care of me. Its like they sold me the car well knowing it was a rental at first, but still gave the warranty, well knowingly it was rental and now a problem is persistent because the engine failed a second time and they don't want to claim responsibility for there negligance. If they would of told me it was rental, or because of it being a rental there is no warranty and i would of continue walking on. Im stressing out about this and if you really say what you guys really are, then what can you truly help me out with?

Yeah i need a new car, but i just got screwed even trying to get rid of the one i have now. Anyway, my point of that is the position to actually move on from this crap. Its a bad emotional damage in my head, because of the circumstances and how nothing is being done to actually resolve the situation. For example, wouldn't you think i would be getting phone calls from the KIA delaership my car is at because the engine is failed and they would try to be selling me into another car?? Not even a single phone call, but rest assured, i will get a marekting phone call, e-mails, mailers from my original purchase. Its about a good 40-45 minute drive down by you.

By all means i want to get out of this ASAP, but its kind of hard when i have someone pulling on a rope that is tied around my waste. Now they tied a huge rock at the end of the rope and threw it into the deep blue sea, so now i am surviving for air. In other words im getting really tired. I have a lot more information, facts, evidence, etc. they are allowed to get away practicing selling fraud vehicles.

I called the dealership up and asked if they did reimbusements and was told that since we did not purchase the battery from them that it was too bad even tho we have a warrenty. We have dealt with this vehicle breaking down when we only had a few weeks, we had to get a new engine put into a few months after that. I am just beyond tired of dealing with the lack of concern from a company that puts out horrible products. Your company is the worst and I have told many people not to purchase a KIA. I have no idea the resoluation to the problem but there needs to be one.

My wife and I own a 2004 Kia rio that currently has 114K miles. The car has been a good car up until the last year. In Feb. 08, I developed a very nasty misfire after changing sparkplugs after 30K miles. Normally this has improved the perfomance of the car, but this time made things very much worse! After several days, five sets of plugs($100+), a new spark coil ($170) and many hours of frustration; it was discovered by a trusted mechanic that the issue was a electrical harness that had "worn thru"! Repairs to this harness cost $170.

The car ran weel up until a week ago when while waiting to make a left hand turn, the car sudenly stalled out. I attempted to restart the car, which failed and siezed the motor completely! I have checked the starter, alternator, battery; all tested fine. On the advice of my mechanic, I also check to see if the timing belt had broke ( a common thing in Kias as I have learned), it also was fine. I attempted to roll the timing belt by placing a wrench on one of the cam gears and to my surprise, it would not budge!

After doing some reserch, I leared that many of the 04 models had issues including recalls for crankshft bolt sheering causing engine seisure. This was a know issue, yet no recall was issued for the Rio line, no service bullitens issued, nada! So we are currently driving a loaner form the local Kia dealership (2008 Spectra, 200 actual miles) and it appears to have issues as well as the check engine light has come on for no reason! This does not boade well in my confidence in Kia. We currently owe aprox. $3500 on our current note for the 04 Rio, and facing a repair bill of $2500 for the repairs.

I have an 03' Kia Rio Sedan that I purchased at the end of 02'. I have had nothing but problems with this car. Over the last year I have had some major problems where I would be driving and I would come to a stop sign and the car would hesitate and stall and I would push on the gas and the car would just sit there. Then if I were coming to a turn at a intersection the car would hesitate and I would push on the gas and it would sit there and then all the sudden the car would take off kind of fast. At this point I had already almost been rear-ended and side swiped more than once because my car does not go when it is suppose to. It didn't do it all of the time but quit often.

So I took it to the Kia Dealership and they would keep the car for a few days and tell me nothing was wrong with it. Then it would do it again the next day and I would take it back and I took it to them numerous times and I would just get the run around either nothing was wrong or they changed a fuel pump or they had to re-wire something. Every time I took it back it was a different story. Finally the check engine light came on and I took it to them right away and they said it had something to do with the fuel injection. So they replaced it. Then it happened again a few days later and I took it back so at this point I have been car less for so long depending on someone else to drive me to work. Finally I got mad and had my dad go with me and we talked to the manager and told him that we were going to TOM MARTINO if my car didn't get fixed. Right away he was quick to help get this car fixed.

They put me in a rental car for about 10 days (they even paid for it). They said they did everything possible to figure it out and they said it was the transmission and they replaced it. (not to mention every time I took my car to them they said they had the #1 & 3rd best Kia mechanic in the world working on my car...liars) So about 2 or 3 months (July 08') later it starts up again. I'm in the middle of an intersection trying to cross through it and my car stalls I almost get rear ended (again) and then I almost get side swiped (again) because my car took off and stalled in the middle of the intersection. I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant and I don't need this. This car is paid off my first car that I have ever bought. I have taken it to all its maintenance things and it still don't run correctly. My car has a little over 50,000. miles. It is in the shop as we speak and has been there since Wednesday. Bryan the service guy I deal with barely called me 7/16 to tell me they haven't figured out anything and that the Kia Manufacturer from where ever is consulting with them.

Then I called him back today 7/16 and asked him if I could get a rental car and he said I can get you one for a day or two. I said so because you guys can't find out what's wrong with my car I have to suffer. He then said oh I'm sorry your warranty doesn't cover that. I'm like you know what you guys are jerking me around I want my car fixed or you need to get me a replacement vehicle. He said he's waiting for an e-mail from the Manufacturer to e-mail him about something and he would get back with me. Well he got back with me and told me all the sudden my car was ready. I pick it up and notice it still didn't feel right but wanted to see if it was going to be ok. The next morning I was driving it and I slowed down to read a sign and it died out on me, I put it in park and re-started it and it died again. It took me four tries for the car to start back up.

When I got home I called the dealership again and talked to the lead Service guy because I'm sick of dealing woth Bryan who gets nothing done. This guy Steve basically just listened to me complain about my car not working yet again and told me I could bring it in AGAIN on Monday (7/21/08). I don't know if it's because I'm a female they think they can treat me this way, but I'm not going to stand for it. With as much time their mechanics waist, cost for parts and labor all these things they are doing they could have just given me another car. I cannot believe I have went through so much crap to get a car fixed and it never gets fixed. My warranties were all still active through out all of this except now I have finally hit 5 years or 60K miles. I really need your help on what to do? I cannot afford to be with out a vehicle.

What am I going to do when I go into labor at work and need to go to the hospital, I don't have money to pay for an ambulance ride, my employees are not considerate enough to drive me to the hospital. I need my car. I love this car but I rather get rid of this car already because I have had so many problems with it, but I cannot afford another car payment. PLEASE HELP ME! I don't know where else to turn. I will never willingly do business with a Kia Dealership again!

I have almost been side swiped and rear ended numerous times. I'm going to die in this car because Kia cannot fix it.

After 4 days of getting my car back, it would not accellerate, so I took it back again, they told me they had replaced a computer chip. 3 weeks after that I started having the same problem with acceleration, and the manager John told me that they had to reset the computer and unless the check engine light comes on they would not be able to fix the problem. He has placed me in the position that even though my car is under warranty, unless the check engine light comes on, (which is has never came on), Kia will not honor the warranty. He said that Kia cannot throw parts at a problem that cannot be duplicated. He also stated that the technician that has been working on the car is a master kia technician. We had the car towed into Aloha Kia in Kahului, Hawaii. A few days later we received a call asking for oil change records. Well, I don't know about others but I do not save those records and in fact, their literature only recommends that owners should save that info, it is not listed as a requirement for honoring their warranty.

To make a long story short, they refused to repair the vehicle because we could not produce the records that they asked for. When I persued them they only treated me rudely. This is the worst car that I have ever owned, the worst dealership that I have ever dealt with and their unwillingness to honor their warranty's, should be investigated and prosecuted as consumer fraud. They have perpetrated this consumer abuse on many, many customers. Just ask anyone who owns one of these vehicles. Final out of pocket cost to repair this was over $2,500.00 dollars.

I bought a new Kia Spectra off the showroom floor in May of 2007. A week later the car was rear ended causing minor damage to the rear fender. In September I started having trouble with the car. 1st it was the rear defogger would only clear 1/2 the window. I took it to the dealership and was told that it worked fine. When I went to leave for work the next morning it again did not clear the entire window. Took it back to them and they replaced the rear window. Next there was rust forming inside the gas door and on the trunk lid. They deemed the rust inside the gas door "dirt" and repainted my trunk lid.

The next problem was that the car would get stuck and not shift into the next gear intermittenly. They reset the computer and I have not had that problem again. Then I noticed a noise coming from the engine that sounded like a loose belt. They said they heard no such noise. I also had them look at the gas door as it would not unlatch sometimes. They said nothing was wrong and it opened every time for them. The heater then started to turn cold while driving then back to warm. It was especially bad on a hill. They said that there was a bubble in the antifreeze. I also had then again look at the gas door because it was getting harder to get it to unlatch. The manager told me he still did not see a problem but would replace it for me.

Then in December the trunk started to leak. It smelled like mildew and was rusting inside the trunk. I took it in and they said they could not find a leak but they deodorized the car. I got a call that the gas door did not need replaces it just needed adjusted. When I picked the car up I could not get the door to unlatch and showed it to the sales manager. He replied that I needed to make another appointment with the service department which was closed at this point. It rained a few days later and again the trunk was soaked. They did nothing about the rust the 1st time. This time they said that the light needed resealed and they scrubbed off the surface rust. The trunk started leaking again.

When I took it in this time the manager came out to the vehicle and popped the gas door and it opened the 1st try. He said that it was not an issue until he could see it happen. I left the car there for him to deal with the leak. After I left he called me and was very irate that I did not inform him the car was in an accident. I explained that it was december and the accident happened in May. He said come get your car and don't be surprised if you get a bill for the repairs that we have done. If anything else goes wrong you need to go through the body shop that fixed your car. I then filed a lemon law case. They will not give me anything because they are blaming everything on the accident.

I am complaining about my warranty on my Kia Sorento not being honored because I had my work done at an auto repair shop after my car broke down. On Sunday 6-15-08 I was driving and my car just stopped. I was in the middle of the street on Arrow Hwy. in Rancho Cucamonga. I was by myself and scared. My car finally started after about five minutes, so I drove it home. My house is about 5-miles from where I broke down. The next morning I called Don Lee Auto service and told them my situation. Upon getting into my car to take it there, it started then shut off again. Again I waited and it wouldn't start until about 10 minutes later. I drove my car to the auto shop. My car was diagnosed with the cam and crank sensor going out. I was told that I should not be driving my car due to it would stop at any time and that would put me in a lot of danger. My car was in the shop from 6-16 through 6-17. My repairs came to $918.20, but all I am asking for is $570.80. That is what it would cost just for that repair. I had a tune up too but I am not asking for that to be reimbursed. Never having a problem with my car, I didn't remember I had a 100,000 mile warranty. That was the last thing on my mind. I just wanted to get home safe and not get into an accident. After I paid the bill and got home, that is when I remembered about the warranty. I called Kia so I could send my statement to them so I can be reimbursed. I was told I would not be able to be reimbursed because I didn't use their roadside assistance and take my car to a Kia dealership to be diagnosed, and so Kia can put in Kia parts. I explained to Kia that Kia parts were installed in my car. I was told it didn't matter because I didn't utilize the roadside assistance. When my car broke down I was scared and by myself, that was the last thing I thought about. I just wanted to get out of the middle of the street and get my car repaired. All I am asking is to be reimbursed for repairs done. I have a warranty and I think they should honor that due to how my car broke down.

I called the Kia head office and was told that they would first go to the district manager 9which I had already done) and then go to the regional manager. I live in san francisco & this was the closest kia dealership to my home & for them to tell me that no loaner is provided & to have a friend or family member to pick me up & shuttle me back & forth to my home & my job and that I would have to find my OWN ride? basically what kia was telling me that i was SOL! I had a wreck in same vehicle on April 24th, 2008. I hydroplaned and ran up under an eighteen wheeler and was struck by the back tires of the big rig which sent me into a spin till I slammed into a retaining wall facing oncoming traffic where I was helpless to leave vehicle till troopers arrived. I was also struck in the front passenger side fender just behind the wheel. I was traveling at 60 miles per hour at the time of the crash and my airbags did not deploy. We bought a new 2004 Kia Rio car for my wife to commute to work. She pulled away from a stop and the motor quit. We had the car towed to the dealership. They told us the timing belt broke causing the valves to drop into the engine which in turn caused serious damage to the block.(new engine-$6500). After their so called investigation, they said the 100,000 mile warranty would not cover the damages. Our car had approximately 86,000 miles. There reason they said was because we did not have a 60,000 mile check up. I faithfully took the car in for regular oil chages approximately every 3000 miles. We had 2- services done to the car. The second service was done at 58,500 miles. They claim this service was for a past missed service, which I was unaware of. At this time I was not told the time belt was an issue. If they would have, I would of had them check it. (I believe they want to charge me another $600.00 for the so-called timing belt service). The car has been back for oil changes after the second service. I was not told any of those times that it was imperative to check the timing belt. The next service schedule according the book was to be at 90,000 mile. (it did not make it). The book also says that in california the timing belt is garrantied for 105,000 miles. I called The Kia consumer affairs hot line-no help or call back. We did not even get anything in writing as to why the claim was denied other than the verbal. Obviously Kia had not intention to ever honor they claimed 10-year 100,000 mile warranty. I paid the car off at time of purchase, They got there money and I now got a no good piece of **** car. I still have my old car, not a spot on it. I did research and it seems many of the RED spectra 5's are having the same problem and people are being told the same story, its their driving. So far he hasn't called me back with a final answer and that was March 20th 2008 when he looked at the car and took pictures. We were not aware that we had to change the timing belt if there was no issue with the timing belt. They also told us that the timing belt is in great condition so that was not the reason that the engine blew. We never received anything in writing stating why the claim was denied.

We bought our 2005 Kia Sorento in May of 2005 with only 21 miles on it. Within the first year the transmission had to be replaced two time and the shifting (manual transmisson) was not the same after the second time they put a transmission in it. I took it back 2 or 3 times and told them that there was something wrong with the shifting and was told each time that there was nothing wrong. I let it go because there was nothing I could do.

So from May of 2005 to now (March 2008) here is the list of things that have gone wrong with this vehicle. Replaced two transmissions, new battery (left me stranded 4 times...took it to Kia who said nothing was wrong with it), replaced the head light on the drivers side twice now, the dome light work every once in awhile, the drivers side speaker goes out several time a month, have had to replace the horn, still waiting to have the float in the gas tank replaced because about the time the gas gauge hits a hair under a quarter tank the gauge arm drops and says I'm on empty, the back drivers side door opens so hard like it is rusted shut and now last week I had to have the clutch plate replaced ($280 part).

I called Kia from the place where I ended up when the clutch went out and aksed if the clutch was under waranty and was told that the clutch and all its working parts only had a 12 thousand mile/12 month waranty. I was then told that he could get a tow truck to me for $66 but it wouldn't be able to get me for 45 minutes or so. I asked him if I was going to get a loaner car because all we have is the Kia and a Motor cycle and I have a job and kids I need a running vehicle for. I was told We don't do loaner cars, sorry!

I Looked in my rear view mirror and seen three tow trucks and a repair shop behind me so I walked over there and asked if they could tow me to the Kia dealer. They told me yes for $55 but asked what the problem was. I told them it was the clutch. They asked if it was under waranty and I said no. They said they could save me money on labor and would come across the street and move the Kia for nothing. At this point after so may bad experiences with Kia I said ok. This home town auto repair shop told me what they thought the problem was and called me later that day and told me they had been wrong and would not be charging me for the work because they had misdiagnosed the clutch.

They told me what the problem was and I would have had it back the same day except that I had to go order the clutch assembly from KIA...you can't get parts from anyone BUT Kia. They did get it overnighted to me, for a $16 fee (on top of the $280 for the part). When I got the Kia back from this home town repair shop, the mechanic told me this...I have been doing this (being a mechanic) for a few Decades and I can't prove it but I beleive when Kia put your last transmission in they damaged the clutch plate. The mechanic gave me the old parts and showed me (not that it wasn't obvious) the damage to the clutch plate. He also said that the rest of the clutches working parts looked almost new.

We went with the Kia because of the GREAT WARANTY AND GREAT SERVICE WE WERE PROMISED. NONE of which has been true!!!! We have had nothing but problems with the Kia and their Great Customer Service SUCKS!!!! I am disgusted with this company and everything they Pretend to stand for. It's nothing but LIES!!!! Guess we should have went with our first instinct and gotten the Saturn, GM rarely lets you down!!!! If I could go back and make them take the Kia back I would GLADLY take back my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix!!!!

I purchased a bran new 02/KIA/RIO/ SEDAN at KIA of Union City Georgia. As a good consumer, I took my car in for each schedule mileage service. I also had everything including the oil change done in order to preserve the years of my car. According to KIAs records, I have not neglected me car.

While my car was still under warranty, I purchased an extended warranty from Century Warranty (Contract Number 37986759 Phone numbers 866-732-8503 & 954-429-2146) because I could not afford to buy a new car, and I had planned to keep my car for long time. On December 05 2007, I took my car in to KIA of Union City Georgia because it was overheating. The Manager David told me that I needed a new thermostat. When I was told how much it would cost to install the thermostat, I informed the service person that I had a new one installed a few months ago when KIA replaced my radiator and replaced a gasket on the motor. So the thermostat was installed with no cost to me. I returned to the dealership that same day when I saw that the tempter gage was close to the heat side again. I was told by the technician that was normal.

On December 18 2007, I took the car back in because it was overheating. I was told by the technician that the settings on the defrost, air vent, and my crack windshield was causing the car to overheat. The technician adjusted the gage and told me to keep them on that exact setting. On January 09 2008, I had AAA toll my car to KIA of Union City Georgia because it was overheating, and I was afraid to drive it. At this time, the manager David reminded me what the technician had told me. He had a technician examine my car and told me that I might think about getting a new water pump. He said that it was not leaking but making rumbling sounds. I immediately stated that I wanted them to put a new water pump in the car. I gave them the information for Century Warranty so that they could call and get the work pre-approved. I waited along time before David finally told me that he would not waste anymore of my time, and he would call me once he had gotten in touch with Century Warranty.

On January 25th, 2008, I took my car back to KIA of Union City Georgia because it was overheating. After David had the technician examine my car, I was told that I needed a new water pump. I asked David what was taking them so long to approve the water pump. He stated that every time he called, he got a voicemail. So I called Century Warranty myself, on my cell phone, and was able to get a hold of someone right away. At this time, David stated that he had also gotten in touch with them also.

They had approved the repair. He stated that he had to order the part and would contact me as soon as the water pump came in. On January 30th, I had AAA toll my car back to KIA of Union City Georgia because my car started overheating again and stalled on me. On January 31st, I called KIA to see whether or not my water pump had come in. I was told yes, and that Century Warranty would pay for a renter car for one day while the water pump was being installed. When I called back to see whether or not my car was ready, David told me that my car was not yet ready. I told him I was taking to renter car back. He assured me that the car would be ready on Friday February 1st.

I informed David that I was going home to South Bend Indiana in order to attend my uncles funeral. David stated that the car would be waiting for me when I returned. On Monday February 4th, I called to inform one of the service people that I was coming in to put up my car. She hesitated for a second, then she put the technician on the phone. He informed me that the motor was blown. He also stated that I should have parked the car when I found out that the water pump was leaking. I told him that David, the manager, never told me that the water pump was leaking. I also informed him that every time I brought that car in, David never told me that I need to park the car. I also informed him that I never neglected my car. When I called back, David told me that I needed a new motor, and a representative from Century Warranty was coming out to examine the car before they would approve the repairs. David also told me that Century Warranty told him that I could rent a car while waiting for the representative to come out and examine my car, and the company would reimburse me. I do not have the money to rent a car for a day not alone a week or two.

So I have been driving my mothers car while waiting for the repair of my car. On February 06 2008, I called to see whether or not the representative from Century Warranty had come out to look at my car. David informed me that the representative from Century Warranty, name is Mr. Woodcock, had come out to look at the motor. David told me that he requested for the motor to be torn down. David stated that he had to have my approval before he could do this. He stated that if Century Warranty did not approve the repairs to my car, that I would be responsible for the $500.00 cost to do so. I was between a rock and a hard place. If I did not approve to have my motor torn down, Century Warranty would not pay for the repairs.

On Friday February 11, 2008, I called David at KIA and asked him what was going on with my car. He stated that the motor had been torn down, and the problem with the motor was the calendar head, and that he would send it out, to a tool shop on Monday February 11 2008 to determine what was wrong with it. He also told me that he would call Century Warranty and inform them what he was going to do. I informed him that I need to find something out as soon as possible because my mother needed her car back. Monday February 11, 2008, I called KIA a few time to see what the status of my car was. I was told that David was attending a funeral and would not be in today. I was also told by the service person that the motor was not torn down yet. I was also told that it took a lot of man hours, and KIA had other cars to work on, and the technician would work on my car in between other repairs.

I called back today to talk with the technician. He informed me that when representative from Century Warranty Mr. Woodcock examine my motor that he stated that the water pump had been leaking for along time. Mr. Woodcock wanted the motor torn down to find out what was the problem and whether had not I had been responsible for the damage due to neglect. I asked him why the leak had not been caught before, after the many times I had brought the car in when it was overheating.

The technician informed me that water had been elaborated before it hit the ground. So it was impossible for them to know. The technician also told me that I should have parked the car when I first noticed that it was overheating. He stated that anybody with common sense would have known better. When I explain that the manager David never told me to park the car.

The technician stated that I could not hold David accountable because it was not his job to tell me to park the car. He also stated that the reason Mr. Woodcock wanted the motor torn down was to determine what was wrong with the motor and my responsibility for the damages due to neglect. The technician also informed me that it would take him a few more days to tear down the motor and a couple of more day for the tool shop to determine what is wrong with my motor. I firmly believe that KIA is the one who is responsible and caused the damage due to neglect.

I have been taken advantage of and given the runaround. Through this experience, KIA never called me once and only returned my calls once. I believe that I should not be held responsible for the repairs of my car. As a matter of fact, KIA should give me a new car because the car must be a lemon because I had to even have the transmission replaced. I also want KIA to pay for me to get a renter car. My mom needs her car back. Again, I have been very faithful to KIA and have never neglected my car.

This problem needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

Well today my transmission blew and they are saying that because the person who owned it before I did had not had the transmission flushed at 30,000 miles like the manual says they will not honor the warranty. I try to tell them that I was not even the owner of it at the time the flush needed to be done but they did not car. Apparently I was supposed to just know when I bought it that the previous owner had not maintained the car. Kia will do anything in it's power to not honor their warrantees. Very recently, I was parked at a parking lot, and instead of going reverse, it went forward! I almost hit a fence! How was I supposed to know this? Oh I was supposed to read the owner's manual and its written there in bold print! So now, Im stuck without a car, since Kia doesnt offer complimentary rental cars for their customers! As soon as this transmission is fixed, I AM NOT going to purchase another Kia! I was driving home from work on the afternoon of 16 March 2007, when a driver of another SUV failed to stop at their stop sign (road conditions were not a factor), placing herself in the path of my vehicle. For myself there were 3 seperate solid impacts which would change my life forever. My first impact was head on at aprox. 45-55 mph, at which my frontal airbags failed to deploy.

My second impact was to my driver side, sending my head thru my driver's door window. And my third and final impact was to my rear end. At no point in this accident did my safety air bags deploy, rather they abondoned me in my most needed moment. The accident involved 3 SUV vehicles, where the offending driver who had caused the accident was protected by both her front and side airbags, yet I stood alone, abandoned by the safety features which would have made a significant difference to the out-come of my well-being. When I had purchased my Kia Sorento there were many factors which determined my purchase. I was expecting my very first grandchild, making safety #1 in the matter of importance.

Well, Kia Motors is out there boasting of their 5 star rating, yet when it came down to reality I might as well have purchased a vehicle with no airbags. It's sadly one of the largest false securities in sales pitches. They tell you, that you have all these safety features, but can't demonstrate nor prove it. For all you truly know, behind that airbag panel is nothing more than empty space. I trusted in the word of the Kia Motor Corporation, and ultimately they failed me. Do they care? Acually they only care to sell me another $27,000.00, of empty promises. Since my accident that's all they've been trying to do.

One might think they would have offered to simply replace the vehicle I loss. I know Kia didn't blow that stop sign, but their vehicle failed to protect me as their sales statement promises. They say, the only way to prove that the airbags will deploy is by running it into a pole. I respond with, so do it, because my well-being, my life, the lives of my passengers...is what I value. This accident has taken from me something which i'll never have again, being the quality of my life.

Just like to mention that, no one should believe the ads they are seeing on tv or their website.

They mention 199 per month, if you have a job, and 0 down. Now I don't know what kind of job you need, but I will tell you my finance option was not even in the ballpark of 199. I don't know if they purposely lure you in with this ad and then do a bait and switch. But not only did I not get the vehicle I was going in for, but they got me making the same payments on a very low end vehicle on their lot, as what I was paying on my vet. Needing something cheaper on gas, was the only consideration for going smaller, the ad was a huge factor in going Kia.

Needless to say, I do have the Kia they pushed on me, but I wont have it for long. I will keep it for a year or two, and when I dump it off, it will be as a trade in for another GM product. I have always had good and fair dealings with my GM dealer, which is why I have been purchasing GM products for the 30 years I have been buying cars.

Customer loyalty used to be a great thing for a dealer, recommendations and all. Whatever scam they seem to be running, seems to work, as I have noticed with others who post here. They make their sale, but I am sure they are losing repeat customers, in their decision to make their profits in the short term, over future profits they could have made in referrals and repeat business.

I was told on Friday, October 5, 2007, that I had to take my car that the Kia Factory people had determined that this was just a problem common to this particular type of vehicle...the Service Manager knew I was not going to accept that garbage and I refused to sign the service form....I have been lied to by this dealership, I have been treated with disrespect and all they are interested in is if I want to trade it in on a higher priced vehicle at a higher payment...I have been taken, so to speak, and to top the whole scenario off when I did drive the rattletrap 2006 Spectra that is in my name and sounds like a Mack truck with less than 11,000 miles on it, my steering was rigid and hard, the windshield washer fluid had been drained and goodness knows what other fluids were not replenished in it...so back in went to the dealer on Monday, October 8, and I was told that the fluids were as they were supposed to be...NOT.....and on top of that, my son noticed that all four of my tires had less air in them then when I took it to the dealer...at least five to six pounds less...

I feel like I have a target painted on me when I drive the car and that the dealership is not at all concerned about my safety or anyone else who might be riding with me....as a result of this mess and the fact that basically I am being told my car is fixed to the best of Kia's ability and I literally HAD to remove the vehicle from their property, I have filed Lemon Law paperwork in the State of Florida, copied same to the Attorney General and forwarded a copy to the owner of the Daytona Auto Mall Complex on I-95 in Daytona Beach...I think the rest of the car-buying public in the Central Florida area needs to know about the unreliable Kia products and the dealership in general...I am also filing a complaint with the BBB in Florida and have spoken to an attorney and have plans to contact the Problem Solvers on the local Central Florida TV stations.

I purchased my 2006 Kia Spectra in April 2006. While I have had few problems with the car (which has been taken care of by the dealership) there is one problem that continues to annoy me whenever I fill my tank. It is the gas mileage. I have only 12,800 miles on the car and can only get 28 miles to the gallon. I purchased this car after investigating other vehicles and this car had one of the best gas rates (40+ mpg).

Well I have not seen 40 let alone 30. I took the car back to the dealership and they hooked up a machine to it, filled it, drove it 60 miles, and filled it again. They came back with 45 mpg. Well I was surprised. They told me the route they took so after I was done I went to the same gas station, filled up, drove the same 60 miles, went back to the same gas station filled up and came out with 30 mpg. I wonder where the 15 mpg went.

I drive over 60 miles per day to school. With the way gas prices are I thought this would be a good car. I traded in a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan that got 25 mpg. I should of kept the van, at least it had more room for a family of five. I cannot get rid of the Spectra because I owe to much on it for a trade in. So I am stuck. I thought you would like to know about a very, very, very unhappy customer who will never purchase a Kia again.

2005 Kia Sorento, owned vehicle one week, wouldn't start this continued on and off for about one year. Rotors shot at 20,000 miles, it now has 27,000 check engine lite has come on again this has occurred numerous times. We are being told that it is miss firing on three of the six cylinders. I could go on and on just don't buy a Kia is my advice. It seems most of the dealers try to pull a fast one and give the story about them not having serviced the vehicle. Well they have serviced this Sorento and honestly I don't think it matters much they just don't stand behind the warranty. yes you have to read between the lines of this so called great 10year/100,000 warranty. Needless to say we are not happy with the Kia vehicles, the gas mileage stinks and the trade in value its a joke. Think we best stick with the Toyota, gm, ford, or something besides the Kia. unhappy customer!!!!
