Re: Americar Inc Tampa, Fla. Live and learn. I had the misfortune of buying a car from these folks sight unseen. I get it! And yes, I am kicking myself now for believing in this company for one second. So chalk this experience up to silly me for believing I could trust a used car salesman. I dealt with two individuals, Julie the primary salesperson and John, who shared pictures of a 2011 Cadillac CTS. The photos were impeccable—it looked like the car I’d been searching for, with a candy apple red body and tan leather interior. Living in North Carolina, I should have driven to Tampa to see the car with my own eyes. Instead, I made the mistake of trusting their words and photos. I spoke with Julie, who assured me I could trust her and that the car was in excellent condition. During a FaceTime call, she showed me the car, confidently saying I would love it.

Convinced, I agreed to the purchase, and they shipped the car to me. That’s when the problems began. Right away, I noticed issues with the car. Over time, more and more problems came to light: The headlight was out, the stereo didn’t work, the backup camera was nonfunctional, and neither the hood nor the trunk would stay open. The glove compartment door stuck, the right tire sensor was faulty, there was no heat on the passenger side (or the heated seat), and the driver’s side door seal had been tampered with—possibly from a break-in attempt. The key fob was held together with tape, and there was no spare provided. The problems didn’t stop there. The trim over the right front tire was loose and flapped in the wind until I removed it.

The most shocking discovery came when I cleaned the back seat and noticed that the back of the driver’s seat had fallen off. Upon closer inspection, I realized the clips that should have held the back of the seat in place were broken, and someone had *glued* it back on in an obvious attempt to conceal the defect. I reported every issue to Julie and John, who initially promised to help me locate the parts to fix the problems. However, after over a month of waiting and getting nowhere, they completely ghosted me. At this point, it’s clear that this is just who they are—dishonest and unwilling to stand by their sales.

Looking back, I truly regret this transaction. Like many others who have shared their experiences here, I was misled, sold a lemon, and left to deal with the fallout on my own. I will be reporting this incident to the Better Business Bureau in the hopes of holding them accountable and preventing others from falling victim to their deceptive practices. If you’re considering buying from this dealership, I strongly urge you to reconsider. I wish I had seen reviews like mine before making this mistake.

    Inventory

AMERICAR is a used dealership. The company sells a range of used vehicles, but availability may vary depending on which models have been traded in recently. However, its inventory includes some of the following makes as of publishing:

    AMERICAR services

AMERICAR exclusively provides car sales. It offers no additional services as of publishing.

    AMERICAR return policy and guarantees

Most used car dealerships allow you to return a car after a short "cooling-off period.” The terms and conditions vary by dealer, however. Because AMERICAR doesn’t specify its policies, make sure to ask about guarantees and returns before you buy.

Lemon laws, which differ from state to state, occasionally offer some blanket protection to those buying used cars. It’s a good idea to check your state’s regulations to see what kind of coverage you have.

    AMERICAR warranty options and providers

AMERICAR offers a free powertrain warranty for three months or 5,000 miles. Typically, certified pre-owned vehicles are backed by an additional one-year or 12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty from the manufacturer, in addition to any remaining coverage from the original warranty.

Alternatively, you have the option of buying an extended warranty from a third-party provider.

    AMERICAR financing options

AMERICAR provides dealer financing through a loan. The company has an online application, which you can fill out before you visit the dealership.

Alternatively, you can approach a lender directly to obtain a personal loan for purchasing a car.
