Wyvan of Rialto, CA, writes:

I purchased my 1999 Toyota Camry from Crown Toyota in May 2000. I never recieved anything regarding my registration so I assumed that I should just pay the registration when it was due according to the tags on the license plates. In March 2001, I went to the DMV to pay my registration fees, and I was told by DMV that this car is not in my name through the DMV and that the license plates that are on my vehicle are not the correct plates. I had to fill out paperwork to transfer the title and registration into my name, and I also had to pay to be issued new license plates. I contacted crown the following Monday, and left two messages with the general sales manager, Gil, and I was finally contacted by a woman named Gina, an employee of Crown who dealt with DMV issues.

I told Gina what had happened and I also told her that I wanted my money back that I was charged when I purchased the vehicle for license fees, since the registration was never turned over into my name. Gina said that she would look into it and give me a call back. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, Gina called me back and said that she had her office run a DMV printout and that it showed that the title had been changed in June 2000. I told her once again what the DMV said to me and the paperwork that I had to fill out, and that I had to purchase new plates, and gina said that she didn't know why they told me that and that there was nothing she could do or tell me. I told her that I would find other means of dealing with the problem, I am also possibly looking to speaking with an attorney regarding this because I am sure that I am not the first person that they have done this to. I'd like to possibly get a class action law suit against this company, if possible.

I had, for almost a year, been driving a car that didn't legally belong to me. I had to fill out paperwork and take money out of my pocket to take care of DMV issues that should have been taken care of by the dealership. Crown was paid to do this and Crown didn't. Now I want my money back that I was charged for license and/or DMV.
