I'm currently teaching a kindergarten class in Bangkok Thailand right now. Thanks to Global Work and Travel and my amazing TESOL course! I've been here for 6 months now and thanks to Global Work and Travel - no questions or concerns of mine have gone unanswered or unsupported. And trust me I've sent multiple random emails and phone calls along this journey to Global Work and Travel and have always been looked after and taken care of!

My experience teaching is indescribable. Truthfully there’s moments I’m pulling at my hair and banging my head on my desk and other moments I cry pure tears of joy! I teach 4-5 year olds and just last week after months of teaching them, I had a student read out the word carpenter and say it by sounding out each letter in front of an entire assembly, without help! Just 6 months ago she didn't know what the letter A was.

Thailand’s culture and amenities are something I can’t put into words, and through my ups and downs Global Work and Travel has really helped me with support and encouragement along with any logistics I've needed, way above and beyond the call of duty they could've been relieved of 6 months ago when I got here. I would definitely recommend their expertise and couldn't be more grateful for everything! Definitely using them in future to experience more of this vast world!

I went on a volunteer trip last September to October. I traveled to San Ramon, Costa Rica and participated in a volunteer program. I forget what exactly it was but I was building a house with locals. I lived in a hostel, which was very new to me, but it was very pleasant. The accommodations were excellent, and the family that I was with were like a second family to me. They were great. And I commuted on a bus for about 15 minutes to my site every morning, and I was with people that didn't speak English, so it was great for me because I was forced to learn Spanish.

Global Work & Travel have been helpful in assisting with all my travel needs. They made sure I was setup with everything I needed to succeed in my travels, and I got home safe. Dustin ** the rep that was there who was like the translator for me made sure I was okay. The only reason I kind of had a good time was because he made sure everything went smoothly.

The Global Work & Travel Co is absolutely amazing! I signed up in April last year for a Volunteer Program in Nepal and thanks to GWAT it was an experience I will never forget. In addition to helping me decide on what Volunteer Program to choose, they also assisted me with my flights and insurance. This was really helpful as there are so many Travel Insurance Providers I didn't know what I needed! I spoke to a lovely gentleman in their travel department who assured me they were there to make sure everything ran smoothly and that they would also link my flights up with my program.

Upon arriving in Nepal my coordinator was there waiting at the airport and took me straight to my hotel. This was such a relief seeing it was my first big trip overseas. The following day I attended my orientation session, was given a phone and details and taken around the city before I was taken to my host parents. In the mornings I would head to my host parents' school for their assembly before heading down the road to the monastery where I spent the morning teaching English to the "little monks". After class I had the rest of the day free. I either sat in on a class at the school, had Nepalese tea with the Lamas discussing Buddhism, went into Thamel for shopping/lunch or I would just head home and relax before the kids got home from school. I was regularly contacted by the coordinator which was lovely.

Before I left Australia I spoke with another lovely lady who suggested I add tours to my holiday. I finished my volunteer program with an adventure tour to Chitwan National Park and Pokhara followed by a trek around the Himalayas. I would highly recommend speaking to her as she made the tours link up with my placement dates perfectly and she amended my return flight so that I could do the tours,. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have known what was available. I highly recommend The Global Work & Travel Co. The staff are very professional, knowledgeable and helpful and the program was very organised. Thanks GWAT!!

I had a great experience on my working holiday with the Global Work and Travel Co. Having never traveled overseas before, I was stressed and needed help. Global certainly provided this. I was invited into the office for assistance with my visa, my flights and insurance was arranged for me and I was offered a job in Canada before I even departed Australia, making financial stress minimal. Once I arrived, I was also invited into the office and offered assistance in Canada. Having someone to contact in Canada with my issues have me peace of mind. My move to Canada was a breeze, thanks to Global.

I'm from Australia and I traveled to Canada on a work and travel program with Global Work and Travel Company. I got a job with a promotions company through them and I've just pretty much been working in promotions ever since. The people there are pretty good. I haven't heard anything from them since I've been in Canada, but I remember when I was talking to them, they're pretty switched on. When I called them, they were always there or called me back. I haven't really heard back from them at all since but they helped me get out with my first time traveling so it was pretty good.

The Global Work & Travel Co. is amazing! I would definitely go with them again. I'm 19 years old and I was so scared to come out to Australia by myself. However, it's really nice to know that Global is there for you. If you ever get stuck or have any questions, you can just ask. I was a nightmare before I left and emailed them all the time! I'm currently in Australia and I still email them, asking how to get from place to place and the best way to get around. They give you great advice and are always really quick to reply.

The deal I did was great! I had an amazing week in Surfers Paradise, the hostel they put me in is the best hostel I have stayed in. I met some great people who also came with Global. They do everything for you, within that week I had a phone, bank account, tax number and Medicare card. I would never had known you needed all these things or how to go about getting them. Another useful factor of going with Global, you can get all your post delivered to their office, so when you're traveling and don't have a permanent address, this is really helpful. On top of all of this, they find you two jobs. Massive thank you to Global.

In the beginning, before I went to Thailand, Global Work & Travel was awesome. They were helpful and I got everything done through them but I found out while I was in Thailand that they were the middle company, and I understand that Global Work & Travel has to make their money as well, but they were hiding the truth from me. I was happy for the whole opportunity but once I got to Thailand, it was all about Explore Asia. Global Work & Travel emailed me once while I was out there and that was it. After that, I just went through Explore Asia the whole time. In the end I spent way much more money than I even had. I was working really hard to get this money paid. I could have gone to Explore Asia and paid much less money.

Global Work told me that I was going to have flexible flights and that’s what I paid extra for. When I tried to go home earlier, I was told that I would have to pay over $300. Thankfully, I got the person from Delta to take it out all the way to $300 extra. But when I thought it was flexible, I thought it meant that I could change it any time and then pay a very small fee of $100 or so.

When I was first told that I had to pay $900 for my way back home, it made no sense. I could have bought my own ticket. They told me that I had to get the round trip, period, like I had to no matter what. They let a friend who went through them do the one-way. I paid over $2400 for the round trip for a flexible flight with three months insurance, and I could have ended up just paying $1400 for my own round trip. I tried talking to them about it, I wrote them this email telling them about the whole experience and how disappointed I was, and they never wrote back at all.

I went from Orlando, Florida to Thailand to do this program. It was very cool and fun but they told me that my stay would be included during the first month and I find out that I had to pay the month that I was there while I was doing a course. Also I was under the influence that I was going to be by myself in my own room, and I find that I had a roommate. It wasn’t that big of a deal but it could have been told to me. A lot of things were hidden from me until I left.

    Hi Krystal!

Thank you for writing in and making us aware of your experience! It is great to hear that your time in Thailand itself was enjoyable! We’re glad to be given the opportunity to clarify some of the issues you mentioned from your travels though.

XA is our partner on the ground in Thailand, and we work exclusively with them in the countries we have our retail offices. They do not accept direct bookings, but will instead direct enquiries to your nearest Global Office. As the retailer, we ensure that the program receives as many participants as possible and we do all the advertising for this program to be known to people across the world. We do not feel we hide our relationship with XA, but once you are in country, you work closely with our partner as they have a proven track record of many years in looking after, facilitating and providing excellent service to our clients, and unless their is an issue, you will work expressly with them while in country.

Regarding your flights, we do offer flexible airfares, meaning that you are free to change dates up until they are issued. This is a service cost we absorb and do not pass onto you, which is something that cannot be said of most travel agencies. The change of flights you had requested, did attract a change fee from the airline directly to us, as one half of the ticket had already been used and travelled on. Even if you had booked your flights independently from our Travel Department, unfortunately you would have still have incurred a similar if not more costlier fee. - we have no ‘fee’ on top of this fee either.

In most cases when our travellers book their flights independently, they are often extremely rigid in terms of dates, quite costly to change (if at all possible), and non-refundable should a situation arise at home that results in a traveller needing to delay their trip or cancel all together. With our flights, they can usually always be changed and we take the responsibility to ensure you arrive in your destination at the right time. We do work closely with our program coordinators, project managers and you the traveller to ensure that your flights are as smooth, synchronised and convenient as possible. To this end, we do offer several proposed itineraries to see which one will work best for you, as well as for our program managers who receive you in country.

The email exchanges we have reviewed do not expressly state where and who informed you of the information, are you able to provide further clarification here?

Finally regarding the accommodation fee: this should have been included in your program price, and it is quite surprising to hear that you had to pay for this! Had you made us aware of this earlier? We’ll happily refund you the cost of the first month’s accommodation minus your security deposit, please contact us at supplierrelations@globalworkandtravel.com
